Given the abilities and uniqueness of blackguards, without any of the ties other magically inclined people have, I imagine we could be quite in demand by certain groups. Also can we gain powers through normal means (non-paladins ones) or will mundane martial and magic skills always have a dark slant to them? You know besides us using them for dark purposes.

Sorry I was really curious on that point. Also would it be possible latter for us to form a mercenary company, take the dirty indigenous suppressing jobs the fighters or adventurers guild won't. I imagine that would be a cool way to make bank, build skills, acquire followers, and yet insulate ourselves from discovery. Besides its hard for a kingdom to turn over such a useful asset, unless under immense pressure. Would we be able to impart or tech some minor measure of power to non blackguard followers at some point? Dwarven god of Battle and The Forge.
Head of the dwarven Pantheon.

Symbol: An anvil with an axe and hammer crossed over it. Holy symbols are typically made with a special red metal the dwarves mine from the depths of the northern mountains.

Appearance: Garl appears as a dwarf with a beard and hair made of solid gold, his beard is extremely long, reaching almost to his toes, and is woven into intricately patterned braids, and each braid is capped with small Mithril hammerheads that beat together as he walks, sounding like a thousand dwarves toiling away at anvils. He wears silver plate-mail, covered in intricate carvings of dwarven script. His weapon is a large axe, the head made from the jawbone of a demon prince that garl slew in single combat, his shield is a single gem-encrusted scale from the first dragon ever, that was given to Garl as a reward when he forged a replacement scale for the dragon after it fell off his hide. Garl carries no hammer, for any hammer would break on his anvil, and instead will grab the very braids of his beard, and use the thousands of hammer-heads woven into it to shape artifacts of tremendous power.

The kingdom of Erunea is bordered by the Northern mountains (to the north), the Kelvemor sea (to the east), the border of the forest of Lothmeriand (to the west) and the great desert Kingdom of Al-Makir (to the south). Al-Kair and Lothmeriand are seperated by an inland sea (The sea of wine) The Northern Mountains protect the kingdom of Erunea from the Frozen wastes beyond them, a giant tundra filled with creatures no man has ever laid eyes on, and home to massive barbarian tribes (who are luckily to busy fighting each other to be a real threat.) The dwarven kingdom of Rothmakor ranges underneath most of the northern mountains, and has (as far as you know) Only a single massive entrance set halfway up the tallest mountain ( The mountain is called Garls Toothpick BTW) The entrance is a pair of truly gigantic doors, with a thriving town not far from them, called "Hoask" (the dwarven word for doormat. Most people don't speak fluent dwarven.)

Screaming. So much screaming. So much noise. You mother holding you, running with you. Running away from them. you look over your shoulder, the men on horseback riding through the little village you lived in, cruel clubs rising and falling.

Why did they come here? You're so far away from where the slavers come from, why would they ever come here? And then it hits you.

You're far away from everything. Isolated. Nobody will notice the village going missing. One of them turns towards you, and your blood runs cold.

You can see him grin, the nasty scar across his face twisting his lips into a sneer, he raises the bola he's holding over his head, and throws it, the wicked rope arching through the air, wrapping around your mothers legs, tripping her.

You fall in the dirt, scrabbling to get up, to help your mother, and then a strong hand grabs you the throat, lifting you into the air and cutting off your breath. you struggle, legs kicking uselessly through the air as your vision begins to tunnel, until all you can see is the ivory mask the slaver is wearing, mocking you with it's perfect disc of white. The slaver drops you, and you sprawl in the dirt again.

You move to stand, and a boot buries itself into your ribs, knocking the breath out of you and sending you tumbling on your back. The slaver crouches down next to your broken body, hands reaching towards you, tearing away you meager clothing.

Fingers running all over you, feeling your skin, feeling every part of you, like you're nothing more than an animal being checked for sale. You hear your mother scream, and everything goes black.

No I was not raped, I just feel very emotionally connected to all the characters I write about, writing tends to invoke emotions in me similar to what the characters would be feeling at the time.

The leering faces of the slavers eyeing you at every minute, the dirt and stones cutting up your feet, your mother handing you the knife.

You aren't sure exactly how long it's been since you escaped, cut your ropes and ran off, your mother killing one of the guards so you could get away.

The leaders cold Ivory mask is etched into your memory, the snow-white disc staring down on the train of slaves. All things considered, you suppose you got lucky with that one, the leader never let any of the others touch you, never speaking, but simply staring at any of the ones who tried until they were a quaking mess. Even when the huge one with the massive scar tried to start something, the leader just looked at him, red eyes boring into his head, until he slunk off into the trees. The leader treated the slaves well enough, you suppose. After all, nobody wants to buy a broken slave. You're still walking, your throat parched and your stomach empty. suddenly, you crest a hill, and you see a massive stone building in front of you, like a great church.

You'll be safe there, you'll have to be safe there, you stumble forwards, foot catching on something and sending you rolling down the hill, you don't care, your headed towards safety, you'll finally be safe.

Welp. That's over. The version I have in my head is worse of course, but for one thing I couldn't write it without spoiling Karin's gender, and for another I DON'T feel comfortable putting it on /tg/. If I ever do write it out, it'll be in a pastebin, and I'll have to have beenfeeling extremely goth/emo that day. Quick poll to see if anyone's still around.

Yo what's this quest about? Is it fun? I've been thinking about doing some archive binging

Well I'M certainly biased, but I'm having fun with it. To be fair, the Q/A is mostly because I'm not the best at explaining the world mid-quest. I'm currently writing up the POV of another one of the main characters familiars, the packmaster.

Well it is one of the few quests with a legitimately evil protagonist that isn't an anti hero or something. In any case as a paladin turned blackguard by being betrayed by our teachers and giving into the darkers gods whispers we seek revenge against the falseness and weakness of the goddess we once served, seeking to ruin her and also pursue our own goals, which seems to be conquering as one of the two gods we serve is the god of tyranny.

I have to say the writing Eclipse does is pretty nice, and i have enjoyed it myself.

Also we are bros with a dragon zombie. It was a spur of the moment thing, we made him from our friend. Again, spur of the moment. Also another blackguard we helped turn.

When the storm clouds descended on your landscape, you were quick to act, pulling yourself and the rest of the pack into the shadows, watching from their dark confines as the other all found ways to deal with the clouds, the runner beginning his great marathon. the flyer simply soaring above them, never landing, the beast retreating into slumber. And then there was that one. You wonder, did the clouds even know he was there? Locked away as he was? You're not even sure if the others know he's there. But you do.

You stretch, great jowls opening wide in a yawn as your black ichor drips from your deadly fangs. You're quite proud of your fangs, they're one of your best features, the master will no doubt like your fangs. Maybe he'll even rub your stomach.

Ah well, no use thinking of such things is there? The clouds have drawn back, yes, but your master is still not ready. He must still grow, must come into his power before he may call upon you. No need in getting all worked up when there is waiting to be done. You can wait, you are nothing if not patient. Silent. The perfect hunter, leader of your pack.

...something is watching you. Something has entered your domain. You sit up, ears swiveling around to catch some hint of this intruder. A voice like silk reaches your ears, and you relax. Ah, you know this voice, you've been listening as it visited the others, you didn't think it could reach you here. Impressive.

From what you understand the others have been having a bit of trouble with them though. Meh, they'll survive. They wouldn't be your brothers if they couldn't.

You cast your gaze around, looking for another little morsel to fill your stomach with. You really do wish you could get your claws on a kraken, but oh well, them's the reins, as the mortal saying goes. You slither through the water, great hood fanning open and shut. A silken voice makes it way to your ear. Hmm. This fellow, the packmaster told you about him, you wondered if he'd be visiting you soon.

"Well aren't you a big fellow eeeeeh? I'm just making my rounds, finding all of you fine folk and having a bit of a chat. You do seem to be rather busy though, and I wouldn't dare be so rude as to interrupt a meal, so please, continue on my friend, you really are quite interesting you know?"

This is the only way to write, IMO. You get the bare bones of the concept down then you get to writan. If you're in the flow, it'll turn out good. If not, then at least you have the raw material down, you can always take a break and refine it later.
