My issue with A-kun is the seperation of the chat from the story. It's not a quest anymore, it's a story with a chat log attached and vote boxes that break up the flow.

It's like being stuck halfway between a quest and a fanfic and sucking at both. I browse the smut board and that's about it.

I get how the general slowness of this quest might make it hard to cone up with anywhere to take it, but that kind of slowness is good for episodic fluffy nuggets where nothing much happens besides shenanigans.

The salt accumulates so quickly on Anonkun because it's a mixture of the speed and ease of using a chatroom and anonymity suppressing social filters: the kind of vitriol that you see on 4chan is from people who are making an effort to go through the steps of posting, effort not needed on Anonkun.

Just want to say Hap that this quest was really fun while it lasted, and while I'm slightly disappointed we didn't get many Beth dom scenes, it was still entertaining as all hell.

I do what to ask, is there any chance of Alex/Beth/TENKA! getting cameos in Failed Adventurer Quest?

Thanks for running this Hap, it was a great way to spend my day when I had more important things to be doing because I'm a chronic procrastinator (also when I didn't have more important things to do... because I liked the writing style and characters, same with Failed Adventurer Quest).

My only major gripe with this quest was the complete lack of direction the whole thing had. It didn't really help that the players picked any oportunity to just dally about doing nothing.

Yeah this is kinda what I felt when Guide put Harem Protag on hiatus for his other quest.

The job you got from Bossman William ended without any flair, save for the old guys eccentricities; he had just lost track of time while trying to research new ways to use magic. The place was filled with human like dolls that gave Kat nightmares for a few nights after, until you just let her sleep in Shadow Alex’s room.

With Beth growing more and more accustomed to your restlessness things became almost routine until one morning when your mother started talking about shopping for new clothes for school. You didn’t believe her at first that so much time had passed but after checking your phone and the the website for your school you begrudgingly admitted it was soon. It was here that you wished for people to think of you as always this way, after all it was something you had grown far too accustomed to and you felt like you had cross a line you could never go back from.

During the first week of school you experienced the first week of hell, for reasons entirely different than that of school. You nearly panicked at first until Shadow Alex mentioned the obvious, this hardly helped things with your stomach and head aching but at least you understood. After a very awkward conversation, for you mostly, with your mother you learned how to at least mitigate the pain. Still this week and once a month from then on made you seriously consider wishing them away.

Your eyes drew the most questions but you managed to dodge them with a comment of contacts, the shadow was solved through constant use of darkness magic; something that took a while for you to get used to. It’s gotten mundane enough after practicing it so much that it hardly feels any different than putting clothes on in the morning.

Beth, Kat and yourself graduated from school later that year, it was rough on Kat as she had a lot of classes to make up and you aren’t really positive how she managed it…. really if you were honest you’d say she probably cheated with a wish but that’s what they are there for right? Still though you kept up with being a magical girl and eventually gathered enough cores to make another wish yourself, and with that Shadow Alex became a permanent part of your life.

With her now able to freely exit the room, the two of you cheated things swapping when one or the other was too tired to bother. Turns out when you wished her to be permanent you became able to enter a room similar to hers that resided in her, really handy in the long run of things.

Kat by the end of school had started to grow out of her shell, she was still shy and doubted her abilities but a lot less than before. She never was far from you or Beth though, as the three of you really grew into a working relationship.

Beth eventually grew brave enough to tell her parents about dating you, it took you standing by her side the whole time holding her hand and encouraging her. What surprised both of you was they seemed to already have known and really was just waiting for Beth to become able to speak to them about it. Her Dad seemed especially grateful for it, but followed up with asking you if the two of you planned on adopting. You don’t think your face has ever burned that hard before.

With school out, Beth Kat and yourself got a small one bedroom apartment each of you working part time jobs and continuing to be magical girls. At times it was rough, but you kept at it living with your two loved ones happily.

You keep in touch with the other girls you met, Anna especially as the two of you have grown to become good friends often working out with each other; Beth and Kat tagging along when they felt up to it. Summer and John hit it off eventually, and went on a road trip; they send you postcards as well as constant pictures messages of them standing in front of something or another.

Amy is living a life of luxury, all of it gained through wishes but that hardly matters. She keeps in contact with Kat mostly, checking up on her and vaguely threatening you once or twice about keeping her happy. This only serves to amuse you, and so you tease her about it.

Through all of this you continued to learn magic from your Dad here or there, avoiding being found out from the other mages. It’s not like you particularly hated the idea, but it seemed troublesome so you keep putting it off. Dad tried to convince you otherwise a few times but stopped once you called him on trying to lessen his workload.

And so this is how your life continued on, casually progressing through it with moments of increased activity. Those, however, are another story entirely.

If this quest has taught me anything its to expect any expectation I may have is probably wrong. It has shown me this since thread 1 when you walked past the plot and on forwards.

On top of that I get the feeling it'd probably play out like fanfictions somewhere between bad and cringe worth area especially if the original cast was met.

This only is amplified by the fact that I barely understand how Azure's system works and the logic behind the demons outside of themes.

I really don't think I would be able to bring myself to write it.
