Last time, on Star Dust Quest...

Along the way on your journey to Faraday, your ship was interdicted from its warp. How that was achieved, you aren't sure, but at first you thought you were just dealing with another band of bandits. However, they turned out to be resilient, and if it weren't for some unsuspected intervention, you don't know how that might have gone. On top of that, a strange mishap had gone down in your gun deck, and you heard Comet was potentially injured.

Right now, you aren't sure how to feel about this. All you know is that you're thankful that you and your crew are okay.

The comms go silent for a moment, and you feel the urge to slump against your comfy chair while your ship drifts through space. However, you can't find it in yourself to release from your rigid muscles, and the cold sweat on your forehead keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Your eyes feel sunken while you stare outside the front window, the stars beyond unmoving as always. With more energy than you thought it would take, you twist your head to look at Ivan who seems just as rigid as you are, his arms seemingly stuck in place while gripping the stick in front of him. It's unnerving for you to see him so tense, though you can't really blame him.

“You good, Ivan?” you almost mumble before letting out an exasperated breath you didn't know you were holding in. He seems to almost flinch at your words, but he turns his head to you. His posture relaxes, and so does yours.

“Da... yes. I'm good, comrade. That was just...” he trails off, dipping his head down a little. “That was quite heart-pounding, ah? Hahah!”

You smile. “Hell yeah, it was. I don't think we'd have lasted as long if it weren't for your piloting skills.”

“Ah, I've been in worse,” he chuckles, rubbing the back of his head with his left hand. “Though, the sooner we get to Crown, the better.”

“I agree. Take us away, Ivan,” you affirm, sighing afterwards.

>Personally check up on your crew. Go assess any damage on the gun deck and ensure your crew is all fine.

Sweet first time I'm catching this live after getting caught up, Thanks for writing SDA!

“You think you can handle it from here, Ivan?” you ask, your voice sounding more exhaunsted than intended.

“I can, comrade. We are only two jumps away,” he answers with a nod. “Is probably best you go check on our comrades.”

“Will do, Ivan. If there's any sign of trouble...”

“I will notify you at once, comrade. Understood.”

“Thanks, Ivan.”

With that, you unbuckle yourself from your seat and get up from your chair. Your joints practically creak as you move, your body feeling as though you were in an actual fist fight. Not really, but it was close enough. You don't think fist fights are as scary as getting blown up in the middle of space.

As you exit the cockpit, you open up the comms menu on your smart-ring. Finding Tabs, you open up a private conversation with him.

“Tabs?” you ask, hoping he doesn't mind your prying. “How did my... Alex get to hire you? A Talon, no less.”

“That an insult?” he asks after a small delay, his voice sounding sinister. Like all refined Englishmen.

“No. I mean, if your mom hired an elite space pirate to guard you, wouldn't you want to know?”

“Space pirate? I never!”

“Please.” You sigh, turning a corner. You think you can begin to smell smoke, but you don't believe there's any serious damage. Nothing in the cockpit notified you of any dangers.

“Have you ever met your uncle?”

You get taken aback slightly, but you press on in your march. “A few times... only when I was younger, though.”

“Basically, no.”

“I guess.”

“Well then, let's just say that I have a friend who's indebted to your uncle.”

“Do I want to know?”

“You should, I'd say it's a pretty interesting story.”

“Is it?”

“Not really, I don't know. I was joking.”

“Huh.”
>>
>>41435004
“Not about the indebted part, though. I know your uncle was one of the few that my kind liked.”

“Your kind?”

“Space pirates,” he says with a little edge to his words. You instinctively roll your eyes.

“How long have you been following us?” you ask, ignoring his snark.

“Mm... I'd say I caught up to you around Freeport?”

You scrunch your eyebrows. “You got that close to Fed space?”

“Do you want me to brag?”

“No.”

“Well yes, I did. Though, that's not exactly uncommon for us Talons.”

“Are you bragging?”

“No. You should meet my sister.”

“Sure.”

“You'd regret that answer.”

“Never know till you try.”

“Hmph.”

You don't see any smoke, but its stench strengthens as you approach the gun deck. Nevertheless, your pace quickens until you reach the room itself. When you enter, you see Ley'ra standing off to the side while Viktor is half-inside one of the gun control compartments. Upon seeing you, Ley'ra gives a small wave.

“Everything alright in here?” you ask, trying to not sound too concerned. You think your wide eyes gives it away though, but after a quick look around, you don't see much cause for concern.

“Ah, Gavin,” Viktor imparts, pulling himself out of the crawl space. “You don't have to worry too much, though the particle blaster seems out of commission for now.” He turns to face you and gives you a small nod.

“What happened?”

“We aren't sure.” He steps forward, turning his head to a nearby terminal. “I'm no expert at energy weapons, but it looks like the heat sink on the blaster melted. Not sure if it was because of fault parts... or something else.”

You blink, taking a moment to let that sink in. You really aren't sure what to do with Comet. “Perhaps once we land, we can take the blaster to the engineering bay. See if Troy and you can do some autopsy work.”

“That can work. I'm a little curious, myself,” he agrees, turning back to face you. “It happened as soon as she tried firing the gun.”

“It just exploded?”

“Seemed like it.” He sighs. “Before we knew it, the whole room was up in smoke. I rushed over to turn on the ventilation system.”

“Was she okay?”

“I don't think she was hurt, I think the explosion just caught her off guard and caused her to faint.”

You take in a deep breath and exhale, standing in silence for a moment. You glance over to Ley'ra, but she simply stares back. Call it your imagination but you think you see her cheeks flush a bit. A little easy to see with her pale skin.

“No other damage, then?” you ask, looking between the two.
>>
>>41435641
>
“No, we should still be able to operate,” Viktor answers. Ley'ra gives a hearty nod, and you nod back.

“Okay. Ivan's piloting solo for now, but we're not too far off from out destination. Sit tight.”

“Alright, Gavin.”

“Aye-aye,” Ley'ra salutes.

You give her a weird look before leaving the room--you think she was smirking a little. Maybe she's just excited to be reunited with her Legion.

Quickly, you make your way over to the infirmary, which isn't too far from the gun deck. You reassure yourself that Comet is okay, but the thought of losing one of your crew mates doesn't cease to plague your mind. Perhaps losing any of them would devastate you, and you hate the thought of that.

Bethany is standing a little ways outside the illuminated doorway, licking the back of her paw against the wall. You resist the urge to scratch her ears upon passing by and head straight for the door. Inside, you see Beth standing beside the infirmary bed, Comet sitting up beside her. Upon noticing your presence, she gasps.

“Gavin! You came,” Beth greets, turning around to face you. “Guess you came to see Comet?”

“I did,” you answer, nodding. You turn to Comet and eye her with a worried stare. “You doing okay?”

Comet closes her blue eyes--you think you see regret etched all over her face. For a moment, you're a little worried she might cry.

“I-I'm okay,” she admits, her voice shaky. “I'm... I'm sorry.”

”You didn't do anything wrong, Comet. It was probably faulty equipment.” Your lips curl into a smile, and with a small nod, you manage to get her smiling, too. "We are going to have Troy look at it just in case though, but everyone is okay and that's what matters."

“It won't happen again,” Comet whipsers, lightly. Comet nods, seemingly accepting your answer. “I promise.”

“Don't worry about it. I just want to be sure you're alright.” You give her a pat on the shoulder, her eyes wide. As her cheeks begin to flush, she turns away. Chuckling, you turn to Beth with a questioning glance.

“Yeah, she's okay. I believe she fainted from the explosion, but there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with her,” Beth explains with a shrug. You shrug as well, stepping back from Comet.

“We should be at Faraday soon. Just sit tight, I'm not sure how this will go down,” you say, turning to leave the room.

“Mm,” Beth hums in acknowledgment while Comet nods.

As soon as you leave the infirmary, you get a message from Ivan stating that you're already approaching the planet. After a moment of reading the message, you take off towards the cockpit in a jog.

“Comrade!” Ivan greets as soon as you enter, quickly sitting yourself down on your seat. “We are just about to come out of warp. We should--”

He stops when your front window is suddenly overtaken by a canvas of orange light. You blink a few times before you realize that you're staring at a planet, or at least a portion of one. You see the curvature of the celestial object bending away to your left, giving away to space. The Crown star must be behind you, its light pummeling the surface of Faraday.

It looks like a desert, the ground housing nothing but sand and rocks... at least until you see that it's only a part of the planet. And a fairly large one at that; it seems that almost a third of the planet was covered in cumin. The rest is green and blue.
>>
>>41435664
>>>”You didn't do anything wrong, Comet. It was probably faulty equipment.”
>>
>>41436512
You turn to the terminal to your left, bringing up the planet database. It takes you awhile, but you find Faraday. You're surprised that the information is a little out of date, the image depicting Faraday showing a completely temperate, healthy and inhabitable planet.

“Gravity's a little heavier than New Terra's,” you mutter, but loud enough for Ivan to hear. “Not too bad, only one-point-one units. I suspect the atmosphere is a little thinner, what with the...” You gaze at the big orange splotch of desert covering Faraday. “Desert.”

“Ah, yes. I remember hearing several weeks back from some of my comrades that something happened here.” Ivan grips the stick and pilots the ship towards the planet. “There was mass evacuation.”

“No idea why?”

“No. But--”

A stern, male voice cracks over the comms, interrupting Ivan. “This is the CLS Moonlight. Please state your business.”

You and Ivan share a glance

”I am Captain Gavin Ashworth, here on behalf of the Cerberus Legion for a delivery,” you state clearly, hoping to sound official enough for them to take you seriously.

“A delivery? Hold on one second,” the man says, and the comms go silent. Ivan gives you a small nod before leaning back against his chair.

“Where's Tabs?” you ask him.

“He departed after we jumped into system. I don't know where, but I think he is sticking around,” he answers. Some part of you hopes that he is, and yet another part of you wishes he doesn't.

“Gavin Ashworth, right?” the man's voice says through the comms accompanied by the sound of rustling paper. “For Captain My'hra?”

“That's correct,” you affirm, leaning back against your chair like Ivan.

“Alright. We are sending you coordinates of where to land. You will meet a fighter escort once you get in atmosphere. Out.”

You glance over to Ivan with a curious expression, but he shrugs. Apparently he's used to this.

Without another word, Ivan accelerates the ship in a dive towards the planet, following the specified coordinates. Presumably, it's towards the Cerberus Legion base.

You're surprised at how adept Ivan has already become for entering atmospheres, considering this is only his second time doing it. Granted, he was probably trained in doing so, but you can't help but admire how he expertly initiates the proper procedures. Sooner than later, you find yourself well within Faraday's airspace with the planet's orange desert well beneath you. Sure enough, a black fighter jet accompanies your frigate side-by-side while Ivan drifts the ship towards the coordinates. It's a little ominous to you that the other pilot doesn't signal or communicate with you, but you decide to accept it. If Ivan seems to be keeping his cool, you might as well.

“What are we delivering, comrade?” Ivan suddenly pipes up, catching you off guard.
>>
>>41437081
I was celebrating.
I think only a few boards were actually upset.
Surprised /a/ liked him so much, but than again they are mostly self moderated, and usually back lashed against mods that tried to put their own Morales into shit.
>>
>>41437299
“No idea,” you answer, scratching the back of your neck. “All I know is that it's eight tons of stuff, and we're getting paid well to deliver it.”

“I'm not arguing.” The Crown system's star is fairly bright, and when your ship finally levels out with the ground below, you start to feel how blazing hot it probably is, outside. The sky is alight with a bright sky blue, and the orange, rocky landscape below you stretches out towards all horizons. You notice Ivan cautiously looking in every direction, seemingly excited to take in such a different sight than Jörmungandr. “This Cerberus Legion... they are Ley'ra's comrades?”

“Supposedly.”

“They don't sound like pirates to me.”

“I think they're holding up to Ley'ra's descriptions pretty well.”

“That is relief.” As Ivan shifts in his seat a little, you see structures in the distance, and you're approaching rather quickly. “I don't like pirates very much.”

“I consider us fortunate to get the cute one.”

“Hah.”

Several minutes go by, the structures now well within view. As your ship decelerates, the fighter ship escorting you continues onward, flying upwards into the higher atmosphere. At that point you lose sight of it, but you're sure it'll stick by.

Your ship slows into an almost idle hover, drifting itself towards a rather large cemented air field flanked by some hangars. There only seems to be one fighter jet landed.
>>
>>41437323
The base below you is rather large, only slightly bigger than Hel. Though, the rather vacant areas between the buildings put you a little at unease, reminding you of how deserted the Blackhawk base was.

As soon as your ship touches down, you hear the engines of the ship power down. You unbuckle yourself from your seat and stand up, pressing the door to the cargo bay to open, as well as the airlock. Giving one last nod to Ivan to follow, you leave the cockpit and make your way to the exit of your ship. However, on your way there, you're met with Viktor, Ley'ra, Beth, and Comet.

>Bring Viktor with you. He seems to have a good intimidation factor.

Meeting in the hall just before the airlock, your crew regards you with curious stares. Comet still seems nervous, but the rest of them seem ready to go. And with the airlock door already open, you can feel the heat from Faraday boil its way inside, already.

“Okay, Viktor, Ley'ra and Ivan, you can come along,” you announce, looking to them three in particular. They each give a determined nod back, though Viktor gives a slight shrug. “The rest of you, just stay in the ship. It's probably much cooler here, anyways.”

Bringing up your smart-ring, you browse to look for Pete. However, before you select the option to call him, he pops up behind the group to your left.

“Oh, Pete, I was just about to call you” you state, looking over to him. He returns a curious look. “I was wondering if you wanted to come outside with us for negotiations and whatnot.”

“Ah,” he says, squinting over towards the airlock and the bright light coming from outside. No doubt he feels the heat. “How hot is it outside?”

“Uh... about 38 celcius,” you note, recalling the weather statistics you read, earlier. Pete squints in silence for a few moments before responding.

“Eh... maybe if it were cooler, I would come,” he admits with a shrug. “Thanks for asking, though.”

“Suit yourself. Hold down the ship, yeah?”

“Mm.”

Pete's Approval: +1

Everyone but Ley'ra, Viktor, and Ivan break off into the ship. You assume Troy is at the cargo bay, so you'll probably have to go check in on him soon. You step towards the airlock but pause, stopping to look at Ley'ra.

“Excited?” you ask with a smile. Ley'ra tilts her head.

“Mm, yeah,” she responds, overwhelmingly. You quirk an eyebrow at her moderate reaction, but the small grin on her face says her true feelings.

“Let's go,” you say with a shrug, walking into the airlock and then out of the ship, proper.

You're blasted with blazing hot rays of light from the star, threatening to burn through your dark hair. Regardless, you continue with your three crew mates behind you down the ramp, shading your eyes with a forearm. Your take some time to adjust to the bright area.

Looking behind you, you see Ley'ra faring rather well. You're surprised to see Viktor standing straight, but at least he isn't wearing his trench coat anymore. Ivan, however, seems to be suffering a world of fire right now.

“Ugh, comrade, why is so hot?” he complains, holding his head with both of his hands while slouched over. “This heat... this heat is the devil.”

“Why don't you shed some layers?” you chuckle, shaking your head. “And take off your mask.”

“Hah... hahah! Funny joke, comrade,” he says, turning back to the ship. “I will go take off my coat... and stuff.”

we could start making headway by asking the locals about good spots to look at the sunset whenever we hit a planet.

Ivan's a bro. I want 11/10 approval with him.

“While we wait for Ivan, I'm gonna go check out the cargo bay, see how things are going on over there,” you state as you begin to walk towards the back of the ship. Viktor and Ley'ra nod while you walk off, the heat pounding at you from directly above. It must be about midday; you wonder how long a day is, here. Amidst the heat, you're at least thankful of the cool, dry breeze.

Circling around the back of the ship, you finally make it to the opening of your cargo bay. Several small carts idly wait outside the entrance while some uniformed men and women stand around. Entering the cargo bay, you see Troy helping some of them move things onto carts.

“How's it going?” you ask, coming up to Troy after he had just hoisted a rather large crate onto a hover cart.

“Seems fine, we've got most of the small stuff on the carts,” he answers, wiping his forehead with his normal arm. He leans against a nearby wall next to you. “Geeze, it's hot.”

“It is. Once they're all done, you can just stay in the ship.”

“Mhmm.”

“Actually, I have a task for you,” you say, remembering the mishap earlier. Troy turns his head towards you. “I need you to take a look at the light particle blaster that went kaput—it knocked out Comet after it seemingly exploded.”

His eyes widen and his posture straightens, but you gesture a hand to him. “She's fine and is up and about right now. You can go check up on her if you'd like, but it seems like the weapon's heat sink failed.”

“I'll see what I can do,” he says, looking off to the side.

“By the way, what's the cargo we're delivering?” you ask, eye the mostly full carts. Off to your right, you see four men struggling to get a rather large metal box onto one of the hover carts. Two more men rush over to their aid.

“By the way, what's the cargo we're delivering?” you ask, eye the mostly full carts. Off to your right, you see four men struggling to get a rather large metal box onto one of the hover carts. Two more men rush over to their aid.

“Mostly mundane supplies. They say they get most of their logistics from some cheap courier companies, but they're all out of the way of this stuff,” Troy explains, gesturing to the supplies being hauled away. He points over to the large metal box the (now) six men are carrying. “That's a meat fridge.”

“Wait, really?” you say, shooting a glance over to it. Stem-cell grown meat always intrigued you. “What flavour?”

“I think beef.”

“Mm,” you hum, twisting your body towards him. “I'm gonna go see about getting our payment.”

After an exchange of nods, you walk off towards a pair of uniformed soldiers standing off to the side. Despite the heated weather, they appear to be wearing rather heavy looking attire-advanced reactive plating body armour painted an olive camo. On your approach, they both give you a little nod.

“Hi, I'm Gavin Ashworth, captain of this ship,” you greet, extending a hand.

“Hi,” the girl of the pair greets back, meeting your hand with hers.

“Nice to meet you,” the guy says, shaking your hand as well.

“Do you know where I can find Captain My'hra Jos?” you ask, trying not to pay attention to the fact that the girl is a good head under your height. It's like this Cerberus Legion only recruits cute girls. “She's the one who initiated this contract.”
>>
>>41440074
The two exchange a glance before the girl steps forward. “You can find her in the building right beside the left hangar after you exit here.”

“Gotcha,” you thank, giving them a smile before walking off.

You hurry back to the entrance of your ship where the rest of your crew is waiting. There, you're glad to find that Ivan had rendezvoused with Ley'ra and Viktor. It seems like he had taken off his jacket—he's wearing nothing but a wife beater, his cargo pants and his gas mask.

“Really, Ivan, why do you always wear that?” you ask on your approach.

“What? It was gift from a comrade of mine back in pilot school. They are quite comfy,” he rebuttals, showing off his boots.

“I'm talking about the mask,” you correct.

“That is a reason I may reveal to you one day, comrade,” he warns in a suddenly low tone.

You blink. “I will unmask you one day, Ivan.”

“I would like to see you try.”

You roll your eyes and chuckle. “Lets--”

You cut yourself off, your attention suddenly drawn to Viktor. Apart from wearing no trench coat, he's still in his same attire, hat and all.

“Aren't you hot?” you ask him. Nonchalantly, he looks your way.

“I am flattered, Gavin, but as you Feds say, I don't swing that way,” he answers. You aren't sure if he's serious.

“Ha-ha. But seriously, you're not hot?”

“That is an opinion not I should judge.”

“...I'm just gonna leave it at that,” you leer, trying to wrap your head around his thick clothing. You turn to Ley'ra, who seems to be giving you a somewhat goofy smile. You note that she's not wearing her jacket either, electing to just wear her tank top. “W-what?”

“Nothing,” she answers.

You quirk an eyebrow and stare at the girl for a few moments, blinking when she blinks. After failing to come to an understanding, you shrug and turn away, walking towards the direction you were told.

As the Crown star beats down its heated rays on your shoulders, the pavement below you seems to radiate waves of heat. You try not to think too much of it, but--
>>
>>41440931
“Hahah, comrades! The pavement is melting my boots!” Ivan's voice cheers. You look behind you to see a trail of footsteps behind Ivan, dark impressions of his boots leading back to the ship. While Ivan does a strange, cringey dance to see the footmarks he's making, Ley'ra claps her hands.

“Maybe you need new boots, Ivan,” you comment, though he gives you a huff.

“I will not trade these boots for anything,” he responds, darkly.

Other than Ivan's giggling like a little girl, the rest of the walk to the supposed command building was uneventful. You kept your eye on Ley'ra to see how she's holding up, but she seemed heavily anxious. You wonder what she's expecting, or who.

As soon as you enter the building, you almost burst into tears when your face is met with a burst of cool, air-conditioned air. It seems that the buildings around here are all temporary, built from probably what could be moved on short notice. Ivan lets out a loud sigh of relief as the last of your group makes it in. Here, you're met with a familiar sight of a rather bland desk with a woman sitting behind it.

“Hi?” she says, leaning forward on her chair before adjusting her glasses. She looks confused, perhaps you caught her off guard?

“Hi, I'm Gavin Ashworth,” you greet with a nod, giving a glance over to Ley'ra. She has a neutral expression on her face. “We just delivered some supplies on the request of Captain My'hra Jos--do you know where we can find her?”

The secretary's face brightens as her awed facial expression turns to a happy one. She points down the hallway to your right. “Oh, down that hall. Name's on her door.”
>>
>>41440959
“Thank you,” you say, nodding to your crew before walking off towards the right corridor. After passing by two doors with names spliced by apostrophes, you finally get to one labeled as 'Captain My'hra Jos'. Turning to Ley'ra, you give her an inquisitive look. “You know her, right?”

“I do,” she says with a slight bow. “If you want, I can do the talking.”

“I can handle it, Ley'ra. You can catch up if you want, but business is business,” you assure with a nod, which she returns. After steeling yourself, you knock on the metal door.

Several moments pass without an answer, and you glance over to Ley'ra for an answer. She shrugs and steps forward, knocking several times on the door as well. Again, silence is returned to you.

“Maybe she's not here?” you ask out loud, and your three crew mates shrug.

“Maybe we should come back later,” Ivan suggests. Without any other answer, you nod and turn to leave. However, a female voice from within the room finally responds.

“Come in,” it says, the voice sounding fairly deep but feminine. Being pseudo space pirates and all, you suppose this is when you meet the foxy femdom lady.

You try to keep your snickers in.

Upon opening the door, you see a fairly plain office with a rather high desk in front of you. Behind it is a rather fancy red chair facing away from you. You can't see who's sitting on it, the tall back rest blocking your view. Whoever she is, she's rocking back and forth a little on the chair. After hesitating for a moment, you gesture for your crew to enter.

“Uh, he--”

“Mister Gavin Ashworth, hmm?” the woman interrupts, accompanied by the sound of moving paper. Maybe she's reading some sort of document. Though, you can't help but think the voice sounds a bit... strained. Forced? “I see you're here for the contract, yes?”

An eyebrow raised, you look over to Ley'ra to see a deadpanned look on her eyes. She looks to you and shrugs, sighing.

“I'm sorry, Mister Ashworth, but we don't have your money,” the woman continues, your heart dropping. “Though, be sure to put in a good word to the secretary lady for the Echo platoon on your way out.”

“...Um?” you mumble, unsure what to say.

“And suggest to increase their rations for--”

“Sya, what the hell are you doing?” Ley'ra steps in. Your heart jumps, seeing Ley'ra talk so sternly and to who you assume was a superior officer. Wait, who?

The chair stops rocking and you see a few papers fall to the floor, presumably from the woman's hands. That's when the chair swiftly turns around, revealing to you a girl in a blonde ponytail, her icy blue eyes wide.

The room goes silent and you can't help but blink. The air seems to have changed, and you see the woman--rather young and cute--staring at Ley'ra with an astonished expression. You never really knew what to expect, though you believe that these people probably haven't expected Ley'ra to... be alive. Off to your left, both Viktor and Ivan seem a little uncomfortable. Though, you can't really tell behind their damn masks.

“Er, should we--” you croak out before the blonde-haired girl suddenly stands up.

“Ley! You're fucking alive!” she yells, causing you to flinch back. Ivan recoils in terror, whimpering like a little girl. Meanwhile, Ley'ra's eyes had closed, but a toothy smile is adorned on her face.

“I am, Sya,” Ley'ra says with a small voice. The girl--Sya?--hops onto the desk, sending pens and papers all across the floor. Is she the captain? “W-whoa, Sya, wait!”

Sya practically leaps off of the desk towards Ley'ra, tackling her to the ground with a half-angry half-overjoyed look on her face. You step back, unsure if you should be protecting your crew mate from this blonde menace or not.

“Is this when we give you some privacy?” you snark, winking when Ley'ra' glares up at you. The blonde girl's head practically snaps back almost 180 degrees, looking straght at you.

“Who's this, Ley'ra? Boyfriend?” she asks, earning a jab from Ley'ra into her side.

“We almost got married, actually,” you comment, nonchalantly.

“Ley'ra? LEY'RA?!” the girl screams. “But-but!”

“I was drunk...” Ley'ra whines.

“Shit, dude! We all thought you were dead!” she continues, squeezing Ley'ra with a death hug on the floor. “And you almost got married?! Oh god! I'm gonna kill you!”

“Please don't kill Ley'ra,” you plead, monotonously.

“O-okay, Sya, please get off,” Ley'ra asks, calmly.

“No!”

“Sya--”

“Nnnnh--”

“Ack--”

“What the hell is going on, here?” a non-forced, foxy-lady's voice says from the entrance of the doorway. You recoil back in terror from the rather scary looking woman, her hair black with a red highlight.

“Captain!” Sya exclaims, unhugging Ley'ra while looking up. “Look who I found!”

“What the hell did you do to my office? Who are all of you...” the woman complains before looking at the red-haired girl, her expression softening. “Ley'ra?”

“Ngh... hi, Captain,” Ley'ra says before pushing Sya off. The blonde girl falls to the floor while Ley'ra stands up. “Um, yeah. I'm alive.”

“Well, shit. What? I thought we'd lost you.”

“She's alive, Captain!” Sya exclaims, happily.

“I'll be, I don't believe it. I thought you were gone for sure--”

“Me too!”
>>
>>41443068
“If this doesn't make my day, I don't know what will. I was devastated when I thought we'd lost you--you're one of the better ones,” the woman who you assume is My'hra says. She looks at Sya, who's now standing.“Not like this one.”

“Hey, I held off that Blackhawk convoy myself,” she whines.

“Fluke,” My'hra waves off, walking into the room. She shoots you, Viktor, and Ivan a glance as she walks over to her messy desk; you're pretty sure she just stared into your soul with those sharp eyes. “I assume you're part of the crew who did the delivery, yes?”

“Yes,” you answer, nodding happily. “I'm Gavin Ashworth, captain of the ship.”

“Thank you. I am Captain My'hra, it's a pleasure to meet you.” She nods at you while frustratingly pushing things on her desk into place. She frowns at the boot marks on the desk surface. “I'll get you your payment once I'm done here--Sya'ra, stop headbutting Ley'ra--and we should be on even terms.”

“Thank you, is there anything else you need?” you ask, glancing over to see the blonde girl headbutting Ley'ra's shoulder, who's trying to ignore it.

“Hum? You're not just haulers, are you?” she asks, her eyes suddenly drawn towards you. “Well, I'm sure there's a lot of help to be found around here. We're a little spread thin, as of late.”

You feel your face brighten a bit at that.

“I am,” Ley'ra responds calmly, though you can see she's a little nervous. She's stiffer than usual.

“Shame,” My'hra says with a grin, looking down to her desk. “I suppose that can't be helped, we did leave you behind.”

“I... I'm sorry, Captain,” Ley'ra apologizes, her voice beginning to tremble. “I didn't really have anywhere to go.”

“Please, Ley'ra. You have nothing to apologize for.” My'hra looks over to you, her expression soft. “Thank you for looking after her. I can see she trusts you enough.” Ley'ra looks away with a blush, meeting a cheek poke from Sya'ra. “Though, any friend of a Cerberus member is a friend of mine.”

While the five of you walk down the corridor to the lobby, you look over to the girls. Sya'ra seems to be clinging to Ley'ra's right shoulder. “You two know each other?” you ask.

“Yeah, we were squad mates,” Ley'ra answers, earning a nod from Sya'ra. You aren't sure what to think of her.

“Mhmm, I've known her all my life,” Sya'ra adds in, lifting her head up. “I must be dreaming, I seriously thought you were dead.”

“Sorry,” Ley'ra responds.

“Are you a ghost?” Sya'ra asks, poking her cheek.

“Funny joke.”

“Perfect! How'd you meet him?” she asks, elbowing Ley'ra's arm.

“Well, he hired me,” she answers, simply.

“Oooh.”

“...Not like that.”

“Okay, but seriously, there's something we'd like to recover from the city.”

“City?” you ask.

“Yeah, we're six kilometers from Frundt city. Abandoned, spooky and all that,” she says, tilting her head. “We go there all the time to recover stuff and recon, and we think we found a small abandoned hangar with a few tanks. We'd like some company going in, and there's money involved.”

Ley'ra looks over to you, as does Ivan and Viktor.

“Well~” Sya'ra yawns, dragging out her word. “The city was overrun by killer robots. Drones. But don't worry, we've taken care of most of them, so we likely won't encounter anything too dangerous.”

“You said the city was six kilometers away? Where in the city is this hangar?”

“Not terribly far. We can remain mostly in the outskirts and insert about a kilometer left on the city's perimeter. You'll be going ahead of us since you have the buggy, and we'll bring along a squad in an APC. I believe there are five tanks in the hangar, but we're going to be going there just to secure the perimeter for the recovery guys to get in.”

“And the tank?”

“We'll give you one, if you help us that much,” she says with a wink. “We're probably just going to collect them to sell, anyways.”

“Interesting.”

“I know!”

“Does Captain My'hra know about this?”

“Of course, we don't move unless she gives us the get-go.”

You bow your head, nodding. “We also heard that there's mutants abound in Faraday,” you explain, glancing over to Ivan before looking back to Sya'ra. “What's the deal with that?”

“Oh, that?” she says, looking up to the ceiling to recall her knowledge, “You don't have to worry about that here. The mutants are at Lmicht city, where the Dustkeepers and their weird base are.”

“Unfound, right?” you ask, recalling the contract description.

“Oh, um... probably tomorrow. It's a little late, now.”

You look out the window to see the Crown star still high in the sky, the landscape as bright as ever.

“It looks pretty early in the day to me,” you comment.

“Oh, yeah. Days here are only about nineteen-and-a-half hours. It'll get dark soon, and we don't really like going to the city in the night.”

“Yeah?”

“Hard to see, and it's spooky.” Sya'ra visibly shivers. “So, we'll leave early tomorrow in the morning?”

You shrug. “Sounds reasonable.”

“So if you're not dating Ley'ra, can--” Sya'ra's interrupted by a kick to the chin by Ley'ra. “So you are?!” Another kick.

You roll your eyes.

That's it for today. Thanks for playing, guys. I'll probably run again this Sunday.

thanks for running.
So who are we bringing for this?
I want to bring
Pete
Troy
Beth
Le'ra
Viktor
Not including ivan since right now he is melting.
>>
>>41444095
Thanks for running, Thread next weekend?
>>
>>41444110
That looks like a good line up.

>>41444116
This sunday.
>>
>>41444116
Sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY!
>>
>>41444127
Looking forward to it. Good run!
>>
>>41444110
I'm ok with that lineup, except troy, don't we need him to fix our ship gun and look over that special plasma gun?

And wouldn't Pete be more efficient using the bots remotely?
>>
>>41444127
thoughts on how an old interview where Hulk Hogan said nigger surfaced, and now the WWE is giving him the beniot treatment?
Nigga is literally non-existent on any of their shit.
>>
>>41444110
I wonder when we'll finally decide to bring Comet along for an op...
>>
>>41444197
Dustkeepers.
>>
>>41444171
we don't need the laser gun for any of our current contracts, that can be shelved till after this contract.
Plus this is literally robot city, might as well bring a guy who knows a thing or two about machines.
>>41444197
no clue, i guess when she says she wants to come along.
>>
>>41444110
That's pretty much everyone.

What's the point of bring Pete or Troy for one thing?
>>
>>41444237
Its a robot city, would be the most useful along with some fire support.
>>
>>41444110
>Pete
Well, if Pete could rig something into one of the drones so that it's pretty much a... space wifi hub(?), then maybe he can work his electronic wizardry from the confines of the ship.
I know nothing about drone hacking, much less space drones. Just spit-balling ideas.

That's at least one less person to look out for in the field too, and he did mention the hot temperature doesn't sit well with him.
>>
>>41444263
But why can't he do the exact same thing remotely?
>>
>>41444303
I'm assuming he can't or wouldn't be as good, we could always ask him when its time to pick who comes.

>Ivan shows his face

Can we plan on how we will de-mask him, once and for all
>>
>>41444372
But why does he wear the mask?
>>
>>41444420
Nobody..untill..mask..
>>
>>41444461
Nobody was my comrade until I put on the borscht.
>>
>>41444197
Depending on how our meeting with the Dustkeepers go, I'd like to bring her along. I wanna see what she's capable of.
>>
>>41444496
If I eat that up will I grow
>>
>>41444420
A lot of loyalty for a hired "Ivan" kinetic gun.
>>
>>41444551
It would be extremely tasty

That's a big ship

Must I read all the prior threads, or can I just start on this one?
>>
>>41450815
Probably best to start from the beginning, the characters are pretty fleshed out all throughout.
>>
>>41450825
kay
Can't be doin' with this, then. Have fun
>>
>>41450868
Now that's just lazy. Reading decent archives is half the fun.
>>
>>41451889
maybe some other time, I will
>>
>>41452591
Eh, i suppose you can start with this one. By this one and the next you could get a feel for the characters
>>
>>41453140
Nah he should start from the beginning. It's not that long a read
>>
>>41453266
>>41453140
It's just offputting knowing I have no influence on the story.
I also really don't like the look of archive.moe, it's a pain to see replies
>>
>>41454174
For the most part, everyone votes pretty consistently here.

But yeah, you can try the next thread, it's only tomorrow.
