Then, right afterwards, after hearing both his weird nickname and the fact that he's actually on your side - well, more your sempai's than anyone else - you flirted with the giant machine. More of a joke than anything else, but you also remember feeling just a bit sad that he didn't reciprocate.

You blink at yourself, before chuckling. Just what were you thinking then? It feels like it was so long ago, even though you know it hasn't really been that long, and--

Tiny Pete remains silent for a long, awkward moment, before finally inclining his head in a nod. The motion slow, ponderous, like tectonic plates finally deciding to shift after an eternity.

[UNDERSTOOD, CAPTAIN. I WILL STAND GUARD BY THE ENTRANCE UNTIL YOUR SUMMONS.] With a shrug of the huge pauldrons encasing his shoulders, the armored giant unslings the huge thunder hammer from his back, hefting it with both hands as he makes his slow, ponderous way to the Officio's lobby entrance. His heavy tread and obvious imposing presence making a few girls shriek and scatter at his approach, clearly not used to the sight of something so huge and armored walking towards them.

This trepidation towards one of your sempai's stranger companions doesn't last long, however. As soon as they realize that he wasn't about to drag them into a dark corner and do unspeakable things to them, the same magical girls that panicked at his approach quickly begin to warm up to Tiny Pete, crowding and cooing around him like tourists around a particularly interesting statue.

Just as they start taking selfies with Tiny Pete - something you couldn't help but smirk at, and discreetly take a picture of yourself - is when Wendy finally makes her presence felt yet again. Like some sort of grumpy guardian angel, except with an appetite for huge greasy burgers rather than patience and understanding.

"You finished gawkin' over your robot buddy over there, Green, or do you want to take a few days off?" The Callidus grumbles over your shoulder. "It's fine. Take all the time you want, it's not like Kong's getting any deader than she already is."

What? No, no! You weren't getting any visions, you tell her. Just...you were thinking about something, that's all! Nothing that important!

That said, you're not tossing the option out just yet. Maybe after the meeting - there's something you want to try out with Wendy, and this could be a good opportunity for it. You just have to somewhere private to do it in - somewhere more private than with an abandoned classroom, at least.

The trip took less then ten minutes. Probably the brisk walking pace that Wendy set the moment you left Headquarters had something to do with it. Of course, you couldn't help but take a peek at Hanegawa's when you passed by - and you smiled in relief as you saw your father dealing with the still-ongoing lunch rush with the same kind of gusto and fervor that you've always seen him with. You also caught sight of your brothers also helping out - two of them serving as waiters and one running nearby deliveries.

...You didn't stop to visit. That's...you're not quite ready for that, not yet. Maybe later, when you've squared away one of the bigger issues weighing you down first. Besides, the fact that your father and brothers are doing well is enough for you - for now, anyway.

Anyway. So this safe house that Wendy was talking about. It's just nearby Hanegawa's, right? And next door to Charles' bar? But the only other shop nearby is that gun store, so...by process of elimination, this safehouse should be in...in...

Your eyes go wide as the 'safehouse' in question finally comes into view.

It's trickier than it appears, you either need to use bizarre cutouts that manage to be consistent across garments, or each component piece needs to be multiple layers (which need to be correctly matched with the layers of other piece so you don't get incorrect overlaps or intersections).

It's not the first time you've seen it, of course. You've seen it once or twice on your way to school from your family's ramen restaurant, but always from the edge of your vision and never directly. Your parents - your mother, specifically - had made you promise to keep away from such places, and being a dutiful daughter back then, you did. You kept away from it like the plague, but at the same time - you've always been so achingly curious as to what actually happens inside.

...Well, it's not like you can't GUESS, or anything. You knew the deal, even back then. You've seen tired, haggard-looking salarymen with thinning hair come out hours later looking like a million dollars, backs straight, shoulders back and a cofident grin that they couldn't stop flashing. The same went for a few young men in your class that didn't quite manage to snag a girlfriend during those impressionable years - stoop-shouldered, acne-ridden hermits shambling through the door, only to leave like they've been given a new lease on life.

It's common sense. Anyone with even any small amount of wordly knowledge would be able to figure out what happened beyond a Deli Heal agency's closed doors. Hell, anyone with any ample amount in their wallets could easily find out firsthand, without any flights of imagination.

But to actually BE inside one. To have a legitimate reason to be in there, without having to deal with the sheer, agonizing awkwardness of being a customer, or...or heaven forbid, an agent...! To be there just to observe, to see what it's like! Finally, you can do that side story arc that you've been putting off for the longest time, simply because you've never been able to work up the courage to go inside a Deli Heal Agency!

Oh, shut up, you snap at her, following the Callidus into the establishment itself. It's not that perverted. ...it's just for research purposes. Yeah. For your own special project.

The first thing you see inside the Deli Heal Agency proper is...not what you expected.

Actually, it's almost disappointing. But you start taking notes anyway.

It's actually clean, for one. And completely normal-looking, from what you can see, so normal-looking that you mistake it for a doctor's office first. There's a receptionist at the front desk, a 'waiting area' taking up half the shop with rows of comfortably-upholstered chairs and sofas - hell, there's even a widescreen TV directly in front of the waiting area, and it's playing what appears to be reruns of last night's late-night anime.

...Okay, so maybe that last bit isn't quite like a doctor's office, but...yeah. You were expecting it to be a bit more...authentic. Maybe a rack of rubber toys here, some manaches and chains in that wall over there, and--

"I don't know what kind of place you're thinking about, Green, but I hope you never bring Kong into one of those ever," Wendy growls, before walking up to the receptionist. She's...a rather cute one, a redhead, her hair cut into a rather neat shoulder-length hairstyle with the rest of it tied off with a blue bow. Her eyes, bright amber, shines from a pair of what looks like the fakest glasses around - namely because it doesn't even have lenses, just the cokebottle frames. And she's wearing what looks like a schoolgirl uniform, a more traditional one with the sailor collar and everything.

Wendy raps her knuckles against the counter. "...Hey. I need to talk to--" the Callidus' eyes goggle again. "...Wait, what the fuck? Amb? That you?"

"Guilty as charged," The girl giggles, a smirk curling her lips. ...You feel you've seen her before, somewhere. "Least your eyes are still working, Wendy." She glances over to you, a brief look of confusion flitting over her face, before it's replaced with the sly, feline mischief that seems to emanate from the girl in waves.

"She did. I was kidding." The receptionist giggles again, before tossing you a key. A key with a heart-shaped handle on it, and the number SP-01 engraved on it. "Last door on the right," She points to one of the corridors going deeper into the establishment. "You can't miss it."

"...Right." Your Callidus companion seems to take another moment to compose herself, before leading the way. "Come on, and try not to breathe in too much--"

"Oh, right, she's probably still with a customer right now!" Amb calls from the receptionist's deck. "But she said it's okay, just make sure to knock first!"

Wendy freezes in her tracks, before letting out a sign and moving forward. "...Come on, Green. Let's get this over with."

You follow her down that long corridor, your ears straining to hear anything from beyond the doors leading to the other rooms. Strangely enough, you don't hear anything. ...Either it's a slow day for this agency, or they've invested in some soundproofing.

Until you arrive at room SP-01. Even while approaching it, you can hear someone giggling inside. A female voice, that's for sure.

It's a plain-looking room covered in tatami mats. A generous-looking futon spread out in the middle, right in front of a flatscreen TV showing last night's punishment game variety shows. A young woman and her...'john' is on the futon itself, but instead of...being in the state you expected them to be, both of them are fully clothed.

The woman dressed in what looks like a loose, silk version of a nun's stiff and formal black habit, complete with veil, and the john still wearing his wrinkled business suit with the tie and just the tie undone. And he appears to be sleeping - snoring, even - with his head on the nun's lap. Using her silk-covered thighs as a pillow.

We never pursued that stuff, didn't have time too really, and at this current point in time, there are bigger worries than Mami's relationships.
