After kissing the princess, she leaves us and Lyann alone. Unpacking is rather quick, with just clothes and a few personal hygiene tools needing a place in the room.

"The weather is quite warm, isn't it? I guess we won't need the coats?" -Lyann is filling the drawers while we stock the bathroom with soap and shampoo.

Of course the palace has such things in the tubs, but we do have our own, and if you have ever traveled, you'll know that using your own it's just more comfortable.

Well, we didn't really had to endure a trip, so I guess we should just dress up and go? we took a bath less than an hour ago.

Going out of the room, we find a servant waiting for us at the door to act as our guide around the palace.

"Pleased to make your acquaintance, young sir, miss. Where would you like to go?" -the servant is a young halfling man with a long (everything is relative) flowing silk and cotton robe in red, open in the chest, where a loose hanging necklace can be seen, made of ivory and silver.- "I am Plank, and will be your guide within the palace"
"Oh, nice meeting you. This is Lyann, and I am Eldric. Could you take us to Ok-- his highness the prince Okaba?"
"Of course sir, please follow me"

The halfling is not wearing any shoes, but the smooth marble floors look fresh and soft to walk on. He guides us along the hallways towards the library.

The hallways are always on the outer side of the palace, usually without a fence, just casually opening to the cliffs right under the palace.

We really are over the clouds. The far away ground is only visible sometimes when there is an opening among the clouds. It looks like a simple green and blue mesh since the plants are so thick on it.

"I guess you can't be afraid of heights if you want to live in the palace" -Lyann comments while looking down, a hand on a nearby pillar
"Ah, as nice as it is to have such a beautiful young miss admiration... the prince has installed wards all around the palace so us humble unwinged would just float around in case of a misstep. It is somewhat humbling to have to wait until a noble bothers to pull us back into the palace, but certainly better than the alternative"

The library is quite vast and stragely elegant, with golden pillars and silken curtains hanging on the walls, a large fountain in the middle, away from the book shelves that live the walls, keep the room fresh and cool even in this heat, and numerous beautiful if somewhat sensual statues decorate the pillars, having been carved as part of the supports.

It is either the world's lewdest library, or Okaba repurposed the palace's harem... yeah, he probably did that. Its him we are talking about. I guess he didn't made it into a laboratorie because the fountain would have been a problem, or so.

As you walk in past a row of book shelves, you find Okaba and Asmund laying down on opposing piles of pillows while a surprisingly large group of succubus wander about dressed in light but elegant clothing, carrying books to them or taking them back to the shelves.

Aura is laying down in the same pillow pile as Okaba, resting on her back with her head on his lap, her eyes closed into slits as she enjoys him gently caressing her face as he talks.

Ah, that looks rather homely, somehow.

Still, the natural scent from so many succubus in a closed space can make it hard to concentrate unless you are used to dealing with it.

Dawn should still be unpacking and arranging Asmund's room, right?

"Eldric, nice of you to join us so soon. please pull together some pillows and make Lyann and yourself comfortable" -says Okaba as he throws us an apple

While solving hunger is nice you still have to put resources into the spider, its not free, just like normal food, though maybe alot more efficient. More importantly while a cool endgoal doing this now could potential wreck the economy, food being a huge part of it.

Its based off D&D and the old Final Fantasy games so you have the classical monsters and classes from both settings. Oh, and heavy metal. Lots of heavy metal. So I guess it's like the Heavy Metal movie, but anime/manga version, with high priest Dio in the realm of Metallica, and spells like Ride the Lightning and Grass Snake, or Stryder.

It has beholders, efreet, ninjas, paladins, clerics, hydras... its like an old school blast to the face. Its awesome. Also, the art in the manga gets so much better in the later volumes that its just insane... just... be ready to get into another boat, berserk style >.>

The author improved his style SO FUCKING MUCH that he restarted the manga from chapter 1 with the new art style so it will be a while before he caughts up and continues the story.

What I meant by this is that its something we should do in the future, merely that implementing the copper spider food solution should be done once the full consequencse are understood and the economy can be eased into. People are still gonna want to eat tasty food regardless. Distributing these to soldiers though is something we should do, as it could massively improve (or more accurately make unnecessary) a large part of the logistics chain in the army(s).

Our dwarf friend is dressed in a long (everything is relative) but light dress in some soft looking fabric we are unfamiliar with. She has her hair up into two braids that are curled at the top of her head, and wearing a fancy looking gold choker with matching hair ornaments.

"I think the others will join us at dinner" -she says, talking about Mako, Aritsu, Sinoe, and Alard.

Well, you need to consider the following
1) Asmund came up with this based on the fact that he needed a substitute for other people's necks, so he uses the mana web to keep himself satisfied. This is something he probably has worked on for many yeards.
2) His sister needs mana regularly or she has to go suck it off other people, so when we say energy drinks, we are really saying "mana potions". Its something he probably has been working on for quite a while too
3) We dont really care about the thesis, its just a quick excuse to get our hands on the lab equipment and university library and staff so we can do actual, important research.

May as well have been about having flying drones that do nothing more than follow you around with your bags, to use as replacement for [Item Slots] for wealthy people.

The rest of the evening is spent talking about the technical details of the mana potion. Dawn arrives at some point, and sits with Asmund for a while, but soon wanders off to talk to the library staff and browse the books together with Aura.

After a while, Okaba guides our group towards the dinner hall, and we continue talking around the table while waiting for Mako, Alard and the elven princesses.

"Ah, most people seem to go barefoot?" -Lyann comments to Aura
"Yes, in the palaces, anyway. When you visit the cities and towns at ground level, you normally wear shoes, however" -says Okaba
"You wear shoes"
"It's part of my etiquette as prince of the realm, it can't be helped"
"Is it alright for us to wear shoes?"
"You are my guests. If you wanted to wear pants on your head, it would still be alright"

Thankfully, Mako arrives soon as if to rescue her, followed by Aritsu and Sinoe a few minutes later.

Oddly, our cousin is the last to arrive.

Now that everyone is together again, Okaba welcomes us again, and claps as a signal to have the food brought in.

Alard sits next to us so he can chat without having to raise his voice, and begins asking about our next visit home (to the keep)

"You can just treestride over, right? so there's no reason you can't drop in whenever to have dinner with us. Lyann, make sure he does just that, alright?"
"Yes, I will try"

After a nice meal full of exotic fishes, everyone remains at the table for a more serious discussion.

For now, it would be nice to add more monster tribes into our side as preparation to fight the [ERROR]s, but Okaba can't leave the kingdom himself at the moment. He's already been named as the heir apparent, first in line for the throne, but that situation could change depending on his actions.
Since her father is quite ill, he will abdicate the throne on his favor during the Five Moons Festival in a little under a month, or so it seems.

Of course, at that point, he will probably be swamped with royal duties, so it may be even harder for him to leave the country.
