"Bwuh?" My eyes narrow as I try to even comprehend the possibility of her statement.

She's a person in here.
This card is Cirrus.
Therefore, she must be Cirrus.

"T-then why is she in here instead of outside like Haruko and Julie?!"
"Shh! Masami, Shh!"

Kaori presses her hand to my mouth, looking back at the girl who is still staring worriedly at us.
"Masami, you should be careful what you say. You don't want to accidentally let her find out that there's a big huge world out there that she doesn't know anything about. It could scare her!"
"But she deserves to know! And I want to know why she's in here instead of out there!"

"I don't know why, and neither do you. But you need to ask that question very cautiously. She may never want to leave if you say it the wrong way."
"That's silly, Kaori! Why would she want to stay around here where there's nothing?"
"She may not know that there is another place for her to go!"

I pout, "She has to have some memories of something! Julie and Haruko remembered when they were monsters, maybe she does too?"
"Where did you get her, again?" Kaori crosses her arms, "I don't remember that one."

"First time I went to Fortune after I thought Mom was kidnapped. She was guarding an elevator with a big axe."
"Try asking more about that, Masami. Maybe there's still something she remembers from that time."

We walk back over toward her as the girl looks really confused.

"Heyy, so. How do you feel?" Kaori says, trying to be casual.

"I feel fun." She says.
"Fun?"
"Yeah! I thought I felt fine, but the more I think about it. I feel fun."

"So um." I try to think of a way to open up the next thing I'm going to say. "What DO you remember?"

She tilts her head toward the blue sky. Her hat nearly falls off her head.
"I remember an axe."
"That's good! What else do you remember?"

Her face suddenly seems uncomfortable.
"I don't like axes."

"..Okay! How about a huge building? Do you remember something like that?"

"What's a building? Is it like a house?"

Oh, oh no. She's not smart!
Kaori interjects, "It's like, uh, it's like a really big house. With lots of rooms! For lots of people!"
"I don't remember anything like that, sorry."

"Wait! One more question, what does 'fun' feel like?"
"..You want to play a game?" She tilts her head.

This isn't getting us anywhere.
"What do you remember about this axe?" Kaori with the save.

"It was big, and blue. Very heavy, too." She frowns, "That's all I remember. I don't really want to talk about it."

Her face turns beet red, and she covers her mouth with her gloved hands.
"..Sorry."

"I-It's fine." Kaori says, clearly nervous. "Want to talk about something else?"
"Oh!" That suddenly reminds me, "Want to go meet someone really cool!?"

"Really..Cool?"

"(Masami, what are you doing!?)" Kaori nudges me.

"Yeah! We know this woman who is really cool and helpful and loving. She would love to meet you! Want to come along and see her? There's lots of people to play with there, too!"
"(Masami, hold on!)"

"That sounds fun, but. Um." She looks away.
"What's wrong?"

"Someone a long time ago told me not to follow strangers. I'll have to stay here, sorry."

"Someone.. a long time ago?"
She nods.

"How do you remember this? What did she look like?"
"I don't know. I was thinking of leaving earlier, but I remembered what she said, so I stayed. I don't want to make her upset."

Kaori sits down, "You don't remember what she looks like, but you don't want to make her upset?"
She nods again. "You'll both come back to visit me though, right?"

"Wait, wait." I stop her. "Where did you meet this woman?"

She sits down, and cradles her knees. "I don't know. I just remember her being very nice and I wanted to impress her."

Kaori and I stare at her, I can tell it's making her uncomfortable.

"I don't remember, but she was really nice! I remember she used to come by and ask how I was doing. And she made sure that none of us were hurt after a fight. Oh! And she made cupcakes for us!"

I can feel a shiver run down my back.
No, no this has to be a coincidence. There's no way.

"Do you remember if she had any features? Like long, black hair?"

"Oh! She did have long hair! It was black, too!"

Kaori is starting to look concerned.
"Did this woman, try to adopt you?"
"I don't remember."

"Did the place you met this woman have a man in it who was a real jerk?"

"OH! I remember now!" Her eyes light up, "I-"

Suddenly, her lips curl, her eyes start to water.
"I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT!"
She turns and starts running. I'm right behind her, and tackle her to the clouds!

"LET ME GO!"
"NO!"

"Please, I don't want to go back there.." The girl weakly struggles in my grasp.
"I'm not trying to! I want to take you home!"

"Masami."
Kaori is looking at me disapprovingly again, "What did I tell you about kidnapping people?"

I look up at Kaori's stern glance, and down at the crying girl.

I know what Kaori told me about kidnapping, but this is different!
"But what if-"
"No!" She stomps her foot, "If she doesn't want to go with you, then don't make her. Let her go, Masami."

Just because she told me, doesn't mean I'll do it..
