After you and your friends return from Mifan, you all get some rest at Capsule Corp. There's a lot to think on now that you know a bit more about the whole King Piccolo incident. What seems most confusing, so far, is what Towa's plan is. She wasn't out to kill you outright, obviously, she could have just done that herself. And then there's the fact that... well, Chiaotzu is supposed to be an Emperor. Seriously, what.

The following day, you, Bulma, and Acer are all back to work on how to get this Gravity Chamber of sorts working. You have a bit of a prototype down, but really, proof-of-concept is one thing. If you actually want to get this working, you're going to need to invest a LOT of time into it. It'd probably be best to get some place that can handle the gravity increase down as well, before you scale anything up. Question is, how to go about this...

For the next several weeks, you, brobro, and Bulma spend time going over what needs to be done, sharing the workload of each idea whenever one of you hit a wall. And sadly, your brother seems to hit a lot more walls than he was anticipating in designing the containment chamber. You and Bulma both need to take some time to brainstorm with him on just how the walls of such an area can withstand increases and decreases in gravity at a whim. It even takes time out of Bulma's attempts at scaling up the gravity device itself.

Thankfully, you pull more than a couple all-nighters yourself in getting the ideas down. Krillin, Lapis, and Lazuli went back to training at Kame House, with the twins ready to start on the training Roshi himself put your group through a few years ago. After nearly a month's work, the three of you have finally completed what you all believe, based on minor tests and calculations, is a working Gravity Chamber.

"Well, now all that's left for it is a proper field test." Bulma comments as she drinks her 5th cup of coffee that morning, rubbing her eyes a little.

You keep up a normal, steady pace. Best not to push yourself and pull something accidentally. You even take some time to meditate, which does wonders in helping your body adjust once you go beyond 7x Earth's normal gravity. The materials you brought in have all had different effects happen to them. The packing foam nearly crumbled in your hands as you tried to pick it up, the feather dropped far faster than what it does outside, even with air resistance, and the wood seems to strain under the increased gravity. The rock is fairly normal, though you make sure to take care when placing it down; don't want to accidentally damage the floors of the Gravity Chamber.

"This is it, Maple... ten times Earth's gravity." Bulma says hesitantly.

"I'm ready." The final, sudden increase makes you start to appreciate Earth's regular gravity, but then... things start to adjust. You feel an odd sensation, realizing that this is what your people were born dealing with, living under, and eventually dying under. You take a deep breath, realizing how heavy even the air feels now.

I think it came up when trying to discuss ways that Maple can keep up with Goku. Idea for temporary godly gains: God Goku gives us some divine ki to store in containers or whatever, and we feed the divine ki to a fruit tree, and then eat some of the fruit when it ripens. It should give us some godly power for at least one attack. Eating divine fruit is how celestials be celestial, after all.

Isn't the Tri-Beam a very hard-hitting (in kinetic energy terms) Ki blast that can be further amplified by life force? I guess attaching another magic effect would be pretty good, but I'm not sure what we could do to necessarily make it better.

The Tri-Beam seems to be unique in that it unleashes a LOT of power in a very short amount of time in a very compact package. It kinda uses the same philosophy as the Dodon Ray, which is dangerous because it's a tiny concentrated beam that can be fired off quickly.

Maple could use a quick Tri-Beam to knock opponents off-balance, or use it as a devastating end combo if she charges up a lot of Ki. Or she powers up, spars with an opponent, then TK moves just every so slightly to avoid an opponent's attack and then unleash a charged Tri-Beam at pointblank range.

You decide to take some time training with the Crane School, the InoShikaCho faithfully guarding Tien and Chiaotzu but cowering away from you the moment it spots you, and explaining the situation at Mifan. Chiaotzu is... less than thrilled about the region. He recalls the time he spent there as little more than a figurehead being pushed around by corrupt officials, how in spite of parading him around like royalty, they'd ignore him most of the time. He didn't have many friends, in fact, a doll that he affectionately referred to as "Ran Ran" seemed to be the only thing really... well, even bothering to pay attention to him as a person. He also explained a bit on his... appearance. A thing called "Jiang Shi Syndrome," something that stunts growth, impairs learning slightly, but does allow him easier usage of telekinesis and ki.

As for Tien himself, you explain your idea of Equivalent Exchange. He's rather intrigued by it, and agrees to try exchanging techniques with you and Acer. You yourself focus on learning the Solar Flare, as it seems to be an extremely useful technique, while your brother tries for the Four Witches technique. In exchange, Tien learns your Spirit Bit technique from yourself and the Izumi Combo from your brother. You both discuss the idea of swapping the Tri-beam and Kaioken, though actually managing them proves difficult. Tien instead decides to travel with you for a while, while your brother goes to meet Yamcha again, Chiaotzu tagging along with Acer. You and the triclops also discuss Towa, and make the effort to head to Kami's lookout to help him know what is going on.
