> " Do you see them, brother? Oh, how I love my black children. Decades of evading their persecutors, of nothing more than survival - and all it takes is a minute nudge, a pinch of ambition, for them to remember their claim to this world's thrones. Look at what they achieved in but a handful of days. Aren't they truly magnificent? "
> " One might say it was a mistake to do this behind father's back. "
> " Oh, what does he know? Besides, didn't he himself call the peoples of this age spineless and complacent? Maybe it is time for a little ... change. "
> " Our sister's pets razed the last civilization you built, brother. Or have you forgotten that? The spires of the black city, lying in ruins ... your precious elves, bleeding in the streets or scattered to the four winds ...
> A dozen-dozen souls says these ones won't even see the next winter. "
> " Amriel's pets? The humans? Bah, they're little better than the apes she created them from. Last time, it was betrayal - I won't make the same mistakes again. The wager is on, brother. "
> " So be it. If nothing else, maybe this little experiment of yours will at least provide us with some entertainment. "

'Sup, /tg/? Today, we'll play the second part of our "Drow in the forest" Civ Quest.
Our tale revolves around a band of dark elves, long-time survivors of the fall of the Dark City, the lost high seat of the vanished drow empire.
>>
Yesterday, we wittnessed them:

- Build a well and the foudations of a house
- Make significant advances towards reclaiming their magical abilities of old, including:
* Exercising moderate mind control over sentient creatures,
* slowly vanishing smaller creatures by gradually corrupting their flesh and
* infusing a tree with unnatural sentience, turning it into a short-lived, violent being of twisted wood and oozing blood
- Rediscover a potent poison capable of paralyzing most living creatures
- Capture a herd of deer
- Find a small village of neighbouring druids to the north
- Kill one of the druids while he was wandering in their territory
- Slaughter a big number of forest animals
- Watch a group of vengeful druids and their animal companions comb through the forest in search of their camp

The rules we'll be playing with are the following:
1) Your civilization can take a single action each round (unless you can reasonably justify two or more actions being performed at the same time, of course).
2) Whenever you propose an action, roll a d20. I'll take the proposition with the most votes each turn; of those votes, I'll take the highest die roll. The die result will influence the success of the respective action, so feel free to re-roll for other Anons' propositions if you think they're good.

This is what the final turn of the last thread looked like:

The druids and their animal-companions seem to have trouble locating the camp; one of the elders assumes it has to do with the poisonous remains of the monstrous tree, slowly seeping into the very roots of the forest.
Come the afternoon, they start splitting into smaller groups, combing through the trees in search for the thorn in the lands side. In the evening, one of the groups - more by chance than anything else - stumbles upon one of your sentries. Several birds rise from the treetops and swarm out, no doubt reaching for reinforcements, as the handful of druids and their companions start to move purposefully towards your camp. The battle is on.

Turn 11:
Race: Dark Elves
Area: Forest

Population: 20 Elves, 47 Slaves of various races
Ressources: Food for two further turns
Research: Chaos Magic (basic), Mind Control (slightly advanced), Animate Trees (basic), Offensive Magic (basic), Paralysis Poison
Personalities: The Archon (trained in magic)
Attunement: Chaos

A handful of druids is closing in on your camp. The rest of them is still unaware of your position, searching the wood for you in small groups; but given the number of messenger birds released by your attackers, this likely won't last.

So, gents, tell me your battle plan! I'll check this turn's vote results in about half an hour to give the players that joined me yesterday some time to see this one as well.

We see better at night, right?
-Ambush individual groups, using our slaves whenever possible (seriously, there's 20 of us, we can't really afford losses).
-Any prisoners are to be used as sacrifices for useful spells
-attack them mostly at night, using our sight to our advantage
-try to keep the fights away from our main settlement, lead them to false trails
-use mind controlled prisoners to trick enemies into ambushes (quick fellow druids, my friends are in battle come help them I am by no means mind controlled and leading you into a trap)
>>
>>41849000
Yep, you do.
Be aware that they've found you and have called for reinforcements, so it's not really your choice when to fight.
Also, please remember to roll for your plan
>>
I'm going to wait for some more players, let's see if we can get this going.

>Be aware that they've found you and have called for reinforcements, so it's not really your choice when to fight.
Oh. Well that invalidates most of what I wrote.
In that case just dig in and prepare to fight. -Sacrifice a slave or two to get some useful spell going. Some violent trees would be nice as long as they are timed right.
-our slaves are to dig in and prepare fortifications
-the elves are to oversee the slaves and prepare subtle traps
-once battle starts, we want our elves to shoot the enemy with poison arrows (or whatever else is convenient) while the slaves take the brunt of the fighting.
-taking prisoners during the battle is encouraged, but our drow lives are still the highest priority

There was a emergency here, had to leave the keyboard for a long while. Sorry about that, back to writing ...

The first group of attackers is easily repelled. They druids fall to a man to your archers, foaming at the mouth and spasming helplessly as their animals are overwhelmed by your slaves' crude spears. Only a few of them give their lives.
The paralyzed druids are brought back into the camp, while your most experienced hunters set up traps in the surrounding area.

During the afternoon, the rest of the druids arive. Forming a wide semi-circle centered on your position, they begin marching towards the camp, mumbling under their beards and gesturing to the earth, the trees and the sky.
Even as the first ones are impaled by your vicious traps, even as they start falling to your poisoned arrows, they keep marching, calmly, purposefully.
As the last of them dies, an almost serene silence surrounds the camp.
A moment later, the forest on all sides erupts into live: birds swooping down from the treetops, insects swarming from their nests, animals charging from the shadows of the undergrowth.
Fighting against an enemy that is clawing with wild ferociousness and outnumbering even your arrows, your forces are instantly overwhelmed. Many of the slaves die within minutes. Most of the younger elves too.
Realizing their situation, the Archon and the elders gather a group of slaves, butcher them at the center of the camp and let their chaotically-infused blood drain down the well and into the groundwater itself. All around the camp, the trees shake, exploding in showers of poisonous splinters or turning into corrupted, nightmarish visions of treants.

The Archon, the elders and a handful of slaves manage to escape south through the night, leaving the screams of the fighting and the dying behind them.
Come the morning, the area that once housed the camp is a twisted, lifeless hellscape of disembowelled earth and corroded skeletons.

Turn 12:
Race: Dark Elves
Area: Forest

Population: 9 Elves, 12 Slaves of various races
Ressources: No food
Research: Chaos Magic (basic), Mind Control (slightly advanced), Animate Trees (basic), Offensive Magic (basic), Paralysis Poison
Personalities: The Archon (trained in magic)
Attunement: Chaos

Actions:
a) Scout (choose a direction)
b) Gather food
c) Research technology
d) Hunt for slaves
e) ?
>>
>>41852362
Welp, we're fucked. I'm pretty sure 9 is well below the number you need for a sustainable, non-inbred population.

e) go to the human village and loot it
With the attackers dead, there shouldn't be anything left defending their village. Should be some food there, possibly slaves too.
>>
>>41852348
>many skellys

since our mindcontrol isn't stronge enough, that's a good time to go full necromancer, skellys are better than slaves
>>
>>41852436
well breeding with slaves isn't a option, i guess this civ failed.
>>
>>41852529
Have to eat first.
Then we have to find more fucking dark elves and assimilate them into our civilization because there is a grand total of 9 of us.

Rolled 7 (1d20)

Looks like "looting the village" to me. Writing ...
(The turn after that will probably be the last one for today.)
>>
In the next evening, the group uses the cover of the night to sneak up to the small treehouse village the druids inhabited.
The forest surrounding the patch of corrupted land that was your camp is silent. As the group passes it, the slaves become fearful and quiet.

The handful of druids left in the village offer no resistance to your arrows. After you take the village, two dryads return from roaming the woods. They manage to kill a straggling slave, but are quickly chopped down by the rest.

Searching the village, you find stores of dried fruit and vegetables. It isn't quite a worthy meal, but it will have to do.
One of the slaves discovers a small patch of dryad saplings.

Turn 13:
Race: Dark Elves
Area: Forest

Population: 9 Elves, 11 Slaves of various races, four paralyzed druids
Ressources: Food for three further turns, A patch of dryad saplings

Personalities: The Archon (trained in magic)
Attunement: Chaos

>mind control druids, permanently, sacrifice slaves if necessary
>them orgy, since we desesperates, also rape slaves.
hopefulle there is a shaken or a goblin to increase slave pop fast
we have low numbers so we must rely on the florest. corrupt the florest and raise treeents and dryads to serve us
having druids will be very, very useful, especially for food and increased grow/birth rate
>>
>>41853228
If you want a better birth rate, research fertility magic. Probably extractable from druids once broken properly.
Orgying after we got rekt and have no proper home, defense or much of an idea as to what's going on around us is a bad idea, to say the least.
Also, no fucking lesser creatures, that never ends well.

The Elder Circle, as the Archon begins to call himself and the older elves, spends the day bringing the druids' wills under their control. Assured by their fearsome sorcery in the last night, they quickly turn the druids' minds into doughy wax, even learning a few things on the manipulation of minds in the process.

Put under the influence of light hallucinogenics and forced at knife-point, the slaves have an orgy through the night, copulating for hours on end on the mossy ground.

Turn 14:
Race: Dark Elves
Area: Forest

Population: 9 Elves, 11 Slaves of various races, four mind-controlled druids
Ressources: Food for two further turns, A patch of dryad saplings
Research: Chaos Magic (basic), Mind Control (moderately advanced), Animate Trees (basic), Offensive Magic (basic), Paralysis Poison
Personalities: The Archon (trained in magic)
Attunement: Chaos

Okay folks, this was the last turn for tonight.
I'm not sure when I'll be able to host the next one, so I'll probably just post it sometime and wait for people to show up.
