You wake up and stretch your arms out. It's a beautiful morning, and you've got the day off from ninja duties. After rolling out of bed and getting yourself dressed, you hear a loud thump outside your window. You walk over to check it out.

As you open the window and look out, you're met with a kunai sticking out of the wall. The handle has a note on it that reads: "You're working today"

You head downstairs and find your Uncle at the table, with breakfast laid out.

"Morning, Kon." he greets you. "You got any plans for your day off? Maybe hanging out with a friend or some ninja training? If you don't have anything going on, you could always stick around and give me a hand at the restaurant."

You think to yourself as you munch on some toast. Tenten probably expects you to show up and help out. You could just decide to do something else, however.

I chose to use the system used by the official databooks. The stats are mostly to compare your ability against other characters. You can preform feats of speed roughly equal to Sasuke, who also has 3.0 speed, but you're both slower than Kiba, at 3.5.

So basically intelligence tells you who you can and can't outsmart.

So, on the topic of training. There's a few things we can do. We can work on razor wire, maybe come up with jutsu so it's hidden from sight, come up with different kinds of nets where we pull a wire and the net springs into place. The nets could also use regular wire to bind people in place spiderweb style, more and more complex wire patterns and faster placement of them.

We could also work on Explosives. Making our own tags, increasing the yield, hiding them better, all that jazz. Shaped charges and even complex mechanisms can happen down the line.

Main thought is we should end up as the Sakura of the group, almost. The smart one that understands the textbook definition of how shit works, or at least the math behind it. This has the added quirk of us not actually having Sakura's level of Chakra Control, meaning we can understand the theory without being savant-like in practice.

So. Think we should get weapons for our teammates when we get more money?

I was mulling this over in my head earlier and I was thinking these would be good ideas for building up Kon as a ninja.

Now some people were suggesting we make Kon a trap master, but even though we should absolutely use traps and strategy to great effect, I think for Kon we should build him as a Weapon/Ninjitsu fighter.

Our main stats are speed and Stamina/taijutsu, but our strength is weak, and we have good Ninjutsu as a backup. Low strength is bad for someone based around physical fighting, but if we started training with our Kyoketsu Shoge, and perhaps a sword or a Staff like weapon (Such as a monk spade for reach) we would have a range advantage over taijutsu specialists, which is very important in this universe considering people like the hyuga only needing a touch to disable you, or others to inflict something on you, which our high speed will only help exploit. With weapons mastery we can deal lethal damage and still be tricky having multiple weapons to use, (A tripping weapon, a weapon with reach, a sword for pure lethality etc.) and of course an enemy would mostly have to rely on dodging since most ninja would not be able to block our attacks very easily, another thing an exceptional speed could help exploit. We can use our good ninjitsu as a backup, having a variety of utility and offensive moves, as well as perhaps some buff on weaponry for extra lethality or utility.

A flaming sword (although lightning is also a contender) having numerous uses such as lighting traps (or peoples clothing) with ease, warding off animals such as bugs (which are used by more than just Shino’s clan), illuminating the area, as well as giving away our position (Which could be used intentionally to allow someone to ambush us, only to be ambushed by teammates hiding outside the radius of the fire) as well as some other uses fire can naturally provide.

After finishing your breakfast and saying goodbye to your uncle, you head over to the weapon shop to help out Tenten like you promised.

As you approach, you find Tenten standing out in front of the shop, and a "Closed" sign on the door.

"Hey, Kon." Tenten calls out. "We're closed for the day so we can restock. I need you to come help me get the new stock from the supplier on the other side of the village."

You follow her to a large building with several smokestacks sticking up out of it. To the lef of the building is a large shed.

"We already paid the supplier." Tenten explains. "So we're just transporting the goods."

She opens the door of the shed, and inside you see kunai and shuriken strapped together in belts, and stacked nearly to the ceiling.

"At our shop, we usually make the larger weapons ourselves." Tenten goes on. "But when it comes to kunai and shuriken, they make them in bulk here. We've got about ten thousand shuriken and five thousand kunai to move today, so let's get to work."

Why do y'all want to do this in particular as strength training? We can go train ourselves later.

Another possibility is learning to absorb chakra. This would likely be learned first by absorbing chakra through our hands and at some point would be able to be channeled through our weapon. Rather than expel ninjitsu through a weapon we could absorb it. If this were possible it could drain an opponent while refilling ours, or possibly with the right amount of mastery harmlessly absorb incoming deadly ninjitsu projectiles, or disrupting seals or traps by messing with the chakra engraved in them. This would likely be as close to a truly ‘unique ability’ as we would ever get, although it has been done before by other ninja, it would be how we apply it in which we would stand apart.

If we were to become skilled with throwing weapons (Kunai etc.)we would be much more effective at range and would limit approach options, giving us better trap options, and eventually we would be able to ricochet them off each other allowing for complex ranged kills and unexpected attacks.

Our Ninjitsu (yet to see what we can learn) will give us options to set up an approach or kill, as well as retreating, misdirection, barriers, cancelling out enemy projectiles with our projectiles, etc.

Using Ninjitsu in conjunction with accurate skill with throwing weapons will give us considerable ranged options, and with our weapon skill we can hold our own in melee, and in addition to using any traps or strategy we can use with our teammates we will become a threat at most all ranges (All but ultra long range), while still being versatile enough that we can adapt to most situations.

What do you all think of this?

(And for Laze would the chakra thing be possible at some point down the line.)

Anon traps should be secondary.

We won't have time to prep traps in a mission where we have to infiltrate an area, unless we end up backtracking to lure someone to traps, but people don't always pursue and traps don't always work.

Also think about the Chunin exams. What if our opponent won't give us breathing room? We need something else to rely on for direct combat.

Which is why we should invest in training up with the thing we got from ten-ten.

You take off, trying to keep pace with Tenten and her cart. Almost immediately you start to feel the pressure on your legs from carrying so much weight, but you keep pressing on. The hills in particular are rough, whether keeping your balance going down, or struggling your way up.

About halfway through town though, you notice a familiar face.

You see Rock Lee, albeit with a new haircut and outfit. He seems to be walking around on his hands though the village, and from he look of his hands, he's been at it quite a while.

As you go keep heading towards the weapon shop, you decide to ask Tenten. "Does Lee do that a lot?"

"All the time." she sighs. "He's always giving himself ridiculous training, and then punishing himself with more training when he inevitably fails. That can't be healthy."

You eventually reach the weapon shop and unload the weapons. After the immediate wave of relief from unloading the weight, you start feeling sore all over.

Tenten gets all the binding for the kunai handles out and you two start to wrap them before placing them on the shelves.

It's a bit strange. You didn't actually expect to be working in complete silence like this.

This alternate universe thing will make a whole lot of sense to you guys in retrospect. All the differences will pretty much be able to be traced to a single event. Everything before that point is exactly the same as in canon.
