Though ever stoic, Sasuke looks excited as well. Your team plus cat take off towards the main hall where missions are administered.

It's been a few days since you and your team have begun doing missions, but they've all been glorified chores. You asked Kakashi where you could find out about your father and he showed you to the village's files, but your father apparently had his clan name taken away entirely and was passed around between a few villages before settling down here, so no one has all the information. With that trail gone cold, you decide to let it be for now. You've got more pressing matters.

You and your squad arrive at the main hall and return the cat to its owner, the Fire Lord's wife, who pays the mission fee.

Your team them approaches a table where the Fifth and Iruka sit, distributing missions.

As you approach, Kakashi makes a comment to the Hokage. "Lord Jiraiya, shouldn't you be wearing your hat?"

The Fifth Hokage, Jiraiya, a giant of a man with even more giant hair, laughs as he replies. "Are you serious, Kakashi? That ugly thing doesn't even fit over my hair. Now, your team is here to get a new mission, right? We've got this one here for babysitting an elder's son..."

Obviously Itachi didn't murder everyone, could also mean the Uchihas didn't plan a coup. Jiraiya is the 5th, and also possibly an asshole not allowing anyone other than Neji to graduate. Sai isn't a super secret assassin, which hopefully means Danzo is dead.

Naruto also doesn't seem to exist, or maybe is just in a different village.

Just before he can continue, a figure appears next to him. You recognize the mask and cloak. ANBU. This operative is fairly short, though. They must be young. The ANBU agent leans down and whispers into Lord Jiraiya's listening ear.

"Hmm...' you hear him mumble to the agent. "He just won't get it through his thick skull, will he?"

The Fifth stands and motions for the ANBU agent to follow him.

He speaks to Iruka as he leaves. "I've got business at the Hyuuga compound to take care of. Give these guys their C rank mission."

With that they leave, and you all turn to Iruka.

"Here's a mission we just got in." he explains. "Bodyguard duty and escort for a bridge builder to the Land of Waves. Come on in, Tazuna!"

As Iruka calls him, an old man enters the room. He takes a huge swig of his drink before eyeing your team.

"Hah?" he grunts. "I'm going to have to trust my life to these brats?"

This maneuver gives Kiba a perfect opening to smash the left one into the ground as he dodges.

Sasuke takes advantage of the right one's decreased mobility to kick him in the face, dropping him to the ground as well.

Just as the two start to get up again, a figure appears and knocks them both unconscious.

And assuming this version of him is not pursuing power so heavily he probably has 14 - 15 points himself
Also we have same speed and taijutsu that Sasuke has by final part of exams with only single point of strength less
We also have half point of stamina more and half point less of intelligence
We are also half a point worse at ninjutsu than final part of exam Sasuke
All in all we are solid chunin level
For reference Kiba has 14.5 points by final exam and Sakura has 15.5 points

No sooner does he speak than mist starts rolling in, getting thicker and thicker to the point where you can barely see.

Kakashi Sensei breaks the silence. "He is Zabuza Momochi, former leader of the Mist's Assassination Unit, and a master of the silent killing technique. He can kill you before you even realize what's happened. Stay completely aware of your surroundings."

You hear Zabuza chuckle somewhere. "There are eight points on the body that I can kill you instantly by hitting. I wonder which I should go for?"

The air is thick, and not just from the mist. You feel the incredibly oppressive atmosphere between two high level Jonin intent to kill. It's suffocating.
