“What is Natasha's status?” you ask, concerned since she is stuck inside Silverio Gospel.

Ms Yamada looks at Ms Orimura for an answer. Ms Orimura give a quick nod.

“The pilot, Natasha Fairs, is currently unconscious. It appears that the IS has been running in automatic mode since going rogue.” Ms Yamada answers the question.

“Is she stable?” you continue to ask.

“Yes, she is just fatigued from the flight over the Pacific. Silverio Gospel is keeping her safe, if isolated.” Ms Yamada answers with a touch of sympathy in her voice.

“Wait, do you mean there is an AI or autonomous system on the IS?” Rin asks with a mix of surprise and doubt.

“Yes. Is it to anyone's surprise since one of you here already has a similar system installed.” Ms Orimura answers flatly.

Rin and Laura grimace at the answer. That answer means that Silverio Gospel is running something similar to Reinforce. That will be tough to fight against.

“Orimura-sensei, I request detailed specs on the Silverio Gospel.” Cecilia asks in a professional manner.

“Sure but do not share it with others. Any leaks may be treated as industrial espionage of US Military assets.” Ms Orimura replies.

A display quickly showing the data appears in front of everyone. Cecilia seizes on this and begins reading over the data.

“How will we be deployed?” Charlotte asks.

“The Akatsubaki and Maeve will take up vanguard positions. Blue Tears and Shenlong will support the vanguard as the Rafale Revive Custom II and Schwarzer Regen will provide suppressing fire.” Ms Orimura answers.

“I would have to land on the island to provide accurate fire.” Laura adds.

“No way. A special gunner type designed for wide area and precision attacks. An all range attack profile.” Cecilia tells everyone in disbelief.

“Mr Walken is the one getting us the data and satellites for surveillance.” Ms Orimura answers.

“Ah.” you reply weakly.

“The reason he isn't here is he is trying to delay something called the Icarus Protocol.” Ms Orimura adds.

“I don't recognize that name.” you say, as you think about it.

“But you do recognize the equipment name.” Charlotte tells you.

“Now isn't the time to play secret agent John.” Rin adds.

“Husband, we aren't suppose to keep secrets from each other.” Laura states.

“Hmmm.” you reply, thinking about what to do.

“John, we won't be able to fight effectively if you do not inform us of the equipment.” Cecilia points out.

They are all right, in a way. You'll just have to not mention about how you came to know about those Black projects.

“The equipment is a series of systems used for Plasma weapons. The MAURADER is the primary plasma generation and firing system. The Banshee subsystem is the improved linear accelerator for high muzzle velocities and for rapid firing bursts. And the VMA stands for Variable Muzzle aperture. Not only does it help with plasma cohesion, it allows a computer to adjust the muzzle aperture to help aim the plasma.” you explain.

“Plasma weapons? You have to be kidding me.” Rin mutters in disbelief.

“What? They have already been field testing it for a while now.” you answer.

“On heavy ground vehicles only operated by the US.” Rin retorts, annoyed.

Of course you left out that you help program the targeting systems with your Uncle Eli. Or how you actually meant infantry based plasma weapons. After all, a lot of the technology is derived from the railgun technology that your Uncle David is fond of using in the field.

“It seems like they have a Grunder Industries secondary power plant for IS'.” you mention as you see the name in the list.

“It does not look like there is any close ranged combat equipment.” Laura says with a thoughtful tone.

“John, there is also this.” Charlotte points out, “It's a Fairy Arms and Manufacturing AI.”

“I was worried about that.” you reply coldly.

“Do you think it's a copy of Reinforce?” Cecilia asks with a worried voice.

[That would not be possible. Each one of us is unique to the IS.] Reinforce prompts on the tactical display.

“I see.” Cecilia replies.

“That would mean fighting one of your sisters.” you state with the same cold tone.

After a long pause, Reinforce prompts, [That is fine. She will understand.].

“If that is all, we will commence at...” Ms Orimura says before she is interrupted.

“Hold it, hold it!” Tabane yells out from some hidden place.

With a crash, a ceiling panel comes crashing down from above. Tabane sticks her head out from the ceiling with a brightly smiling face.

“You're all over thinking things.” Tabane says with her perpetually happy voice.

With impeccable agility, Tabane flips down onto the ground and rushes towards Ms Orimura.

“Chi-chan, Chi-chan, I have an even better strategy coming to bear.” Tabane happily says as she rubs herself against Ms Orimura.

“Get out.” Ms Orimura replies as she face palms.

“Listen, this is where Akatsubaki can shine.” Tabane states proudly.

“What?” Ms Orimura asks surprised at her statement.

“Houki, does this have to do with that fold out armor you mentioned before?” you ask Houki, who has been silent the entire time.

“I think so. Onee-chan said that the fold out armor could be used to enhance the performance of the Akatsubaki without additional equipment.” Houki answers weakly.

“It is one of the primary feature of 4th generation IS'. The ability to enhance the mobility, attack or defense of an IS instantly and switch as needed is one of the primary generation changes in an IS. ” Tabane adds.

Rin, Charlotte, Cecilia and Rin mutter in surprise at Tabane's declaration. It is the first time they are hearing about this.

“Is it some sort of temporary boost or a mode switch?” you asks for further clarification.

“It uses the IS energy reserve to keep activated.” Houki asnwers with the same weak tone.

“That would be useful in bursts but it might have endurance problems.” you say as you think out
loud.

“You have nothing to worry about Houki-chan. The Akatsubaki's One Off is the Kenran Butou. It instantly restores an IS's energy reserve at no cost.” Tabane proudly states as she approaches Houki.

Houki tenses up to Tabane's approach.

“Only the best for you.” Tabane says gently as she hugs Houki in her arms.

“Onee-chan.” Houki replies with an almost nostalgic tone.

“The operation will commence at 1300 hours. Until then you are on standby. Is that understood?” Ms Orimura commands.

“Yes.” you all reply in unison.

The five you leave the room and head to an empty adjacent room. You have about 30 minutes to wait. You think about what you should do in the meantime.

Inside the waiting room, you can feel the tension growing from each of the girls. This must be their first mission. Grandpa taught you how to deal with these sort of feelings. The feelings of apprehension, doubt, worry and fear you have before and during a mission. The kind of emotions that can eat away at you and cause problems on the mission.

“So this is all your first time?” you ask the girls.

They nod at your question and look at you.

“It makes me happy that I'll be your first time.” you reply with a teasing smile. “Don't worry, it only hurts at first but I'll be there for all of you.” you continue.

Everyone but Laura is blushing madly at your words. Their minds racing at wild implications and intimate fantasies.

“Just what kind of first time are you talking about?!” Rin asks, angry and embarrassed.

“John, now isn't the time for joking.” Charlotte says harshly chiding you.

“Who said anything about jokes? I really will be there for you. When things get bad, I'll be there to make sure you get out safe.” you reply with a serious voice.

“Ah.” Charlotte says with a calmer voice.

“So you will be there for me?” Cecilia asks, uncertainty in her voice.

“Of course.” you answer with an honest smile.

You can see Cecilia's body language calming down.

“We're together in this, so all we have to do is trust each other. Cover each others back and we will all come back together.” you tell Cecilia, Charlotte, Houki, Laura and Rin.

“Then I do what I can to fix and make up for it. But with you here, I know you have my back to make sure I won't make a mistake. After all, I would do the same for you.” you answer with a honest, gentle smile.

“John, you know I would make sure that doesn't happen.” Laura states as she leans against you.

“I know.” you reply with the same smile.

“Me too.” Cecilia adds, not wanting to be left out.

“That's right, just where would you be without me. I've been watching your back. Just as you've been watching mine.” Charlotte says with a loving smile.

“Don't you dare forget about me.” Rin says while pointing at you accusingly, “We're partners so of course we watch each others backs.”

“You're right about that.” you reply confidently.

“Of course I'm right. Now after this, you'll have buy me lots of parfaits.” Rin adds smugly.

“Go easy on my wallet, ok.” you respond with a slight joking tone.

You can feel the tension all gone from the room. No one is brooding over the dire situation of the mission. With a gentle knock on the door, Ms Yamada opens it.

“It's time.” Ms Yamada announces to the room.

You all nod to each other, now mentally prepared for the coming mission. You leave the room and follow Ms Yamada the beach closest to Silverio Gospel's location. All five of you take your positions and activate your individual IS'. Standing there on the edge of the ocean, you wait for the start of the operation.

While waiting, you see Ms Orimura open a private channel to you, “Smith, I'm relying on you to make sure all of you come back. That includes the Silverio Gospel pilot.”

“I understand. I'll make sure of it” you reply so that only Ms Orimura would hear.

“Good.” Ms Orimura responds.

The private channel closes with her response.

“The target is Silverio Gospel. Gospel for short for the rest of the mission.” Ms Orimura tells you over mission channel. “Mission start.” Ms Orimura commands, starting the mission.

The 5 of you take off from the beach and head towards Silverio Gospel. As you pick up speed and altitude, you begin to separate from Laura and Charlotte. Rin and Cecilia are able to keep up until you hit open airspace letting you and Houki really open up your engines. Breaking away from Cecilia and Rin, you and Houki take up a pair formation and head straight for Silverio Gospel.

After what feels like too long of a wait, you see the target. Silverio Gospel is floating just above a small island mountain, wait and resting.

And that's it for this thread. Next time no boat will stop you from completing your mission.
