Well, there was water on the streets but I dont like THAT close to the shore and my city is basically uphill from the sea.

We had 11 deaths nationwide, by old people having heart attacks and some injured dying on the hospital.

Stella is happily sitting on the floor by our side, wagging her tail while we pat her head after breakfast.

We are sitting in the rockitship's common room while waiting, talking with Asmund and Okaba while they finish up their coffee.

Thankfully, they have both coffee and chocolate in this continent. Chocolate is surprisingly unexpensive, but it is rare elsewhere in the world because of the slow travel times in the past.

"...going on a relief mission would help improve your diplomatic relationships." -says Asmund while enjoying his chocolate. Dawn as well is enjoying her as she sits next to him.

The strawberry bubblegum-colored succubus seems to enjoy it quite a bit.

"I hope there are people left to help to begin with" -says Okaba- "But there wasn't that many [ERROR]s to begin with. Not a nation's worth, anyway."

While we talk, Zoe is sitting next to us, looking at the maps we have of the south.

The whistle sounds, letting us know that the ship is about to leave. The baron disembarks, since he has to stay back and rebuild the fortress.

Zoe puts down her book when the ship starts moving. It is a smooth-enough movement, but I guess she gets dizzy if she reads while moving, anyway.

"Eldric," -she asks- "Can I go to the upper deck and wait for sister Lyann?"
"Sure..."

"I wanna go, too!" -Stella stands up to go with us, and we head to the deck

Stella is wearing shorts and sandals, with a rather long wool turtle neck that reaches down to her knees, her fluffy hair sways gently with the wind as she clings to Eldric's back.

"Stella, you're not a little child anymore"

She pouts and clings harder.

"Fine, fine, you're my little sister."
"Yay!"

Zoe looks at us with envious eyes. Well, technically, she's our littlest sister...

"Zoe, come here"

She walks over and enjoys it with a smile as we gently hug her and pet her head.

"There, there, good girl."

...She's purring.

Lyann comes back with Aritsu, Honoria and Mako while we are getting hugged by both Zoe and Stella.

"Uhm... Eldric, you should hold back when it comes to the little ones." -says Lyann with a dissaproving look

Mako doesn't thinks anything bad about it, she happily comes over and smooches Zoe and Stella, then greets us.

I have been thinking for a while now that since black hair is so important, maybe when Mako marries off, to prevent sucession problems in the future, she willingly drinks something to change her hair color.

Mako blushes a little bit, and tries to stand on tiptoes to smooch our cheek.
Of course, we quickly turn to the side in order to steal a very soft little kiss

"Alright" -we rub the back of our head. I guess that was slightly embarrasing to do in company

So, we explain the situation to the new arrivals on the way downstairs.

"So we are going to the mines." -says Stella
"Oh, I am glad you called me, I happen to be an expert on this subject" -says Honoria as she puts on her glasses

Okaba, Alard and Asmund greet everyone politely, while Dawn and Aura happily kiss the new arrivals.

"How long until we get there?" -asks Honoria
"It should be a single night." -says Okaba- "We could arrive at dusk, but I don't want to run around a town that may be full of [error]s in the dark."
"...are their eyes affected by the darkness? do they have eyes?" -asks Aritsu
"They do, but... they don't move. They may see in some other way." -says Asmund
"We need to find these things." -Okaba comments while going back to his seat

We spend most of the evening talking about theories on the [ERROR]s vision and other senses. Perhaps they work on an enhanced sense of touch, instead of other senses.

Since we have more people now, there are extra rooms prepared, but Stella and Zoe still want to cuddle with us at night.

That is how that night, our bed looks as if there was a pajama party on it, with Lyann, Aritsu, Mako, Stella, Zoe, Atroma, Fahima, Miel and Nina.

Yup, our bed is full of beautiful girls, but the mood is very light and easy going.

Actually, it feels as if we are being bullied. somehow.

It would be worse if Tanis and Honoria were here, right? Yeah, lets look at the bright side

"Oooh, I love chocolate!" -Mako looks so adorable as she holds her cup with both hands and sips from its content

She sure has grown up nicely... yes, we can definitively look forward to the future.

"Brother is looking at Mako with funny eyes!" -Laughs Stella
"Ah... those are Eldric's lewd look." -says Lyann
"...lewd look?" -asks Atroma
"Yes, lewd look!" -says Aritsu

Wait, please don't bully me! yes, it was a lewd look, but it was only for a moment!

Ah, now they are all looking at us with disapproving eyes. Well, Mako is just covering her face while blushing.

"Brother, brother, pet me?" -says Stella as she crawls over the bed towards us and casually flomps down on it, her head on Eldric's lap
"Yes, yes, good girl..." -ash, Stella's hair is so soft and fluffy. She's wagging her tail, too

Thankyou Stella, your big brother feels less lonely now.

After a while, Lyann and then Aritsu are slightly surprised when we ask them to go to their rooms and escort Mako to hers, but they do as asked to.

As usual, Stella is already hidden under the bedsheets, her tail wagging happily, the only bit that shows from under them.

"Brother, can you tell us a story?" -asks Zoe once we close the door and recall our pets into our menagerie
"Yes, yes."

We sit next to the bed, and think about it...

Well, since it looks like a tie, I guess we will go with something like a mix?

We tell Zoe and Stella about the story from Dragonquest IV- It is technically an RPG story writen in our world.

By the time the story is done, Stella is fast asleep, and Zoe is almost there.

"Zoe, why are you still awake?"
"But, if I go to sleep, I can't be with brother..." -she says softly
"Of course you can, because I will be right by your side. You can dream about that, right?"
"I can?"
"Of course."

Eldric leans down and smooches the lion girl on the cheek and the forehead, and holds her hand while she falls sleep.

Once she's dreaming away, we slip into the bed and gently hug her so we are there when she wakes up.

She still smells like a baby, so nice.

"Good night, Zoe."
"Goo-- ther..."

In the morning, our ship starts approaching the mines. It is half way up the mountain, and there is no area larfe enough to land the ship, even if we wanted to.

It looks like the town is empty, no movement at all.

Did the [ERRPR]s clean it out?

Dawn nearly got eaten the last time, and Eldric has the anti-[ERROR] Job he can activate if he needs it. And he can fly via his mount anyway.

And so, we are flying down atop our dragon towards the mining town. Of course, we don't land right away, but instead observe the town.

Nobody on the streets, no alarms about our approach, no visible sentries. As we fly overhead, we notice... there are signs of devastation near the north side of town, but less and less towards the south, until the southernmost houses seem undamaged.

Landing in the southern area, we find the houses empty but undamaged. The gates of the town were not forced. According to the Imperial Magistrate that witnessed a breeder attack before, the creature seemed able to pass through walls unhindered.

According to our own observations, the resulting [ERROR] drones cannot, since they had to attack the fortress walls.

This probably means that the breeder began attacking the town from the south, and then the drones moved north, pulling people to it.

As we start walking north, we begin finding traces of violence more and more often.

Here, the drones broke into the houses, sometimes through the walls, sometimes through the doors... quite literally, they broke in. So, they can't "use" doors? maybe they don't perceive the world like we do at all.

After calling out for a few minutes, we hear a loud sound coming from inside one of the houses.

Someone was hiding on a second floor. It is one of the locals. Just like the inhabitants of Heven are a race of winged humanoids, the people of Lapsiona remind us of D&D driders...

A young spiderling boy was hiding somehow. How come the drones did not drag it away?

We can hear it, and it can hear us, but we see no obvious way to go into the second floor. There is a trap door, but no obvious stair. Was that how it survived? there was simply no way to get tio it?

We pull over a table, step unto it to reach the roof, and open the trap door.

A rather cute child's face looks down over the edge of the trapdoor to us.

"Who are you? is mom with you?"
"Hey kid, it's safe to come down now. I'm sorry, but I haven't seen your mom."
"My mom said not to talk to strangers."
