You take your bag of books and scrolls and the weapons to the house. You bring them all to your room and throw them on your bed. It's time to get to business on making these techniques viable. The Smoke style book looks brand new, probably something people haven't gotten used to yet, might wow people. It also could give you that "vengeful spirit" look with black trailing with the steam. And since visibility would be lower, acting would be easier.

Then you trail to the Airbending scroll, your dad's people. Their spiritual nature must be what allowed you to go to wherever Dad was. You open the scroll, its edges singed by fire, and look at the techniques, all in pictures. Some of them would befinitely not work with fire, and would probably kill you outright. The last thing you're going to do is ride a ball of fire. but some of the other moves would give an edge to your Firebending

But on the other hand, Pai Sho is fun.

You try to go through the motions slowly to get them down, but every time you think you have it, you can't finish the motion. You just end up missing a step or ending too slowly. So you decide to lower your standards, you just mimic individual movements to bend, eventually moving to the training room. You try to spin a tornado of fire, but all you get is a blast.

You eventually have enough and start going through simple motions, an uppercut, a few jabs, the circle was what you started working on the most. You found you can alter its heat rather roughly. Cado walks in, you could hear him a mile away.

"Kuo, Kim says your costume's done, he put it on your bed."

"Thanks Cado."

"What are you doing?"

"Just practicing some stuff."

"Okay man, I'm gonna have a shot, and it's kind of a special thing I'm working on."

You get the hint and make your way to your room to find a bunch of baggy orange and red clothes that shine when hit by light, right next to three masks

You pick up the white mask and put it on, then let small amounts of flame escape your mouth, the mask is open mouthed so it goes through fine, then you blow some from your nose and all the slits light up, creating the effect of a glowing warrior. You then put on the clothes, letting them loosely flow around you. They breathe really well and won't get in the way of your bending.

Now for the final test. You let steam pour out of your mouth, obscuring you in a mist, then you close the blinds to make it dark. You face toward the mirror, and ignite your hands, shifting the color to a white flame, then you light the mask. You look as a vision of death.

Perfect.

One alteration - get in under cover of the smoke and the dark, and THEN light up the mask. It'll look like it's a floating head fading in from the spirit world. Then we let the glow slowly spread down along our tonfas as we tread down to the ring. If we can keep spreading the smoke before us all the way, we can really play up the vengeful wraith angle.

Could be good for intimidation in more serious situations if/when we leave the syndicate.

If we end up using the tonfa, we could light them up as our body is fading into view and use a flourish of them to bend the smoke/steam as appropriate to the crowd, like making a fountain of smoke with a core of pure steam around us as we come fully into view for a second or two before blurring out.

It's funny, when you guys chose Fire Spirit, I thought of Undertaker...

You pick up the tonfas and figure that now is the time to test them. You put them on your forearm and begin heating them. You keep going util they reach a dim orange, then you slowly bring it down to a glaring red.You begin twirling them and moving in ways that just seem intuitive to you. The steam swirls amongst them in formations that occasionally reveal the glowing mask, but it only adds to the effect.

You start messing with ideas in your head about what to do to enter the hall. Mae has the dynamic entry, Cado does a raging inferno to enter, and Jui skates in on a sheet of "snow". You're going for the Spirit angle here, so you get an idea. You snuff all the flames in the room at once.

You slowly light up your mask with a ghostly blue-green flame, then the tonfas to a menacing red color. Your mouth opens and you add a bit of fire to your steam. Then you slowly light up each candle in the room a ghostly green color. The overall effect has the same eerie feeling you had on Burial Night. You laugh a low, menacing laugh.

Jui is the victim for your first entrance, then sun has set, and Jui is training alone. You walk to just outside the door and snuff the candles and lamps inside.

"What? Wha- who's there?!" You hear him panicking inside.

You open the door and bolt in while he's distracted. The door slams after you enter.

"Whoever's out there I'm warning you." He's shaking with fear.

You begin with the steam. he starts looking around nervously holding sand to try and prepare for what is about to happen. You start flickering each candle on in a ghastly green luminescence, starting farthest from you. The entire room is filled with steam now. you begin lighting your mask in a blue glow. He isn't facing you.

"The flame hungers Jui."

He bolts around to stare at you and you ignite your tonfas in a brilliant blue light. You open your mouth and the glow inside is white as you yell at him like a man possesed.

Jui swoons and falls to the floor.

You crack a smile.

You decide that walk-on competitors should be a good challenge, so you sign for that while Jui is regaining conciousness. You don't think that it will be a problem, you just hope that you don't scare off too many people. You sleep shortly after that, but this time, you don't dream. Not even a dumb one. It almost feels lonely. But you wake up feeling the most invigorated you have in weeks. You get ready for your matches.

"LAAAAADIIIIES AND GENTLEMEN, WELCOME TO PUNISHMENT AT POINT FLAME! WE HAVE SOME AMAZING MATCHES FOR YOU TONIGHT! FIRST, OUR CHALLENGER, THE RHINO!"

A man rushes out into the hall, obviously a former soldier, and begins waving at everybody. He's even showboating with his moves, doing some rather advanced techniques.

"AND HIS OPPONENT, THE REIGNING CHAMPION, THE FIRE SPIRIT!" The crowd cheers, then you snuff all of the lights and begin flooding steam into the hall, obscuring your entrance. You start lighting the mask as you practiced, each tiny slit glowing with a green light. You start lighting your tonfas, becoming a blood red. Then you breathe fire at the ceiling while igniting all the candles with a raging ghostly blue flame.

"The flame hungers, Rhino."

All the confidence falls from his face, he seems to be rather afraid of the apparition in front of him.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAND FIGHT!" You fire a display of blue fire at him, hitting him square in the chest and he goes down. You look at the crowd and roar a massive burst of flame into the air.

"AND WINNER BY TKO IS THE FIRE SPIIIIIIIRIT."

You snuff all of the lights row by row. starting at Rhino. When they reach you, you start cooling your tonfas and putting them away. Then you douse your mask's lights one by one. The crowd can no longer see you, so you make a cone of flame twist around you and dissipate as you exit the stage and light the hall normally. The crowd eats it up, cheering for you at once and chattering about what just happened. Kim walks up to you.

"Holy smokes kid, that was great, they ate it up. I have Jui going on against Cado next. but I don't know how much better it can get!"

"I just did what I could, hey, you wouldn't happen to have any water would you?" He hands you a jug of water and you drink like you did in the desert.

"Kid, you're getting paid extra if you keep that up. Rest up for the next match okay? Don't think this one's going to give up."

"Okay." You go back to your room to wait until somebody comes to get you and start to rest.

You crack a smile.

We should read some Waterbending scrolls. If Airbending principles help us as much as they do, Waterbending philosophy could help a lot too, even without us having a natural talent for it. Iroh learned lightning after studying waterbending theory, after all.

Got some quality weapons too, though I'd like to know where Kuo learned to use tonfa. Those damned things are tricky to use to their fullest potential; I prefer polearms or escrima any day of the week.

That whole fake Dao thing threw me for a loop, I'm pretty glad we spotted that shit.
I'm not exactly sure why it's hollow but I think it's real cool that we can hear it up into red hot pokers.
I feel like our wrestling persona would easily fit into a Mortal Kombat game. It's pretty great

Kuo was the character I had the least planned for. And ironically, before I remembered that there was already a guy called that, his name was Wan.

I really wanted to run the northern tribe character because had a lot of cool ideas. I was going to base him off of the Aleut people.

The Earth kingdom boy had the chance to be a dustbender.

The Sage's assistant would have eventually met Kuo if you had insisted on seeing him. The objective for him would be gathering knowledge for the temple.

The Guan Dao was good quality; it's the spear that was shit - a harpoon in a splintery wood casing. And the tonfa are the hollow things; maybe because steel is pricey? Makes it quicker & easier for us to alter their temperature, so they're a great arena weapon.
