This is a Metal Gear quest, set around the time of Mother Base's fall and around Ground Zeroes. It will not follow the story of Phantom Pain, but rather a different, fictional one. Cameo appearances will make an appearance and be present.

In the last session, you escape the destruction of Mother Base with Dread Deer and Roaring Rhino. Finding a forward operating base that was suppose to go functional before Mother Base was destroy, you create a new base and new private force named Junkyard Hounds. You successfully complete your first mission in Algeria stopping bandit militants.

With your mission complete and the transfer of funds, you board your chopper with the rest of the team. You head back to Mother Base, half of your team falling asleep on the journey and snoring blissfully. The dark haired Hush Setter sitting across from you brings up another cigarette. She takes out a lighter and begins to flick it.

“How long have you been in the war business?” she asks in her quiet voice as she lights her cigarette. “Only a short time I suppose?”

You arch an eyebrow at her statement.

You take out your own cigarette and place it on your mouth. As you fumble for a lighter, Setter instead puts her own in front of you and flicks up a flare. You take the kind gesture and begin smoking yourself.

"I've been on it for over ten years," you say letting out puffs of smoke. "Maybe only a year in the mercenary business, but a long time with the United States army." You glance at the dark-haired woman. "Why do you suppose a short time?"

Setter removes the cigarette from her mouth and looks back at you. Her blue eyes meets yours.

"Well, frankly, you acted like a noobie back there," she says. The statement catches you by surprise.

"What? We completed the mission. Near flawlessly I would say, The hell do you mean?" you ask questionably.

"You immediately changed your orders. The original plan was to follow the enemy to base to prevent civvie casualties. But as soon as those guys said they were going to ravage that villager, you immediately changed orders to engage."

She flicks her cigarette out of the chopper in to the ocean.

"If you've been in this business for a while, things like that become common. And to me it's not wise to get all moral and emotional. It's unprofessional. The action you took risked casualties and also risked a successful report," she explains crossing her legs. "We managed to take them all out, yeah. But a small slip up and things could have gotten out of hand. Civillian take hostages, the woman panicking and running; coming in to line of fire, the rebels taking cover within the village."

Setter leans forward, her eyes serious.

"If you're going to change judgement just because some woman was going to get fucked, you think you can properly run a mercenary company? You think you can manage when your men get killed, immoral contracts come up, objective mission success goes against your honor?"
>>
>>42806034
How do you answer?

>I was confident we could do it

But I could have handled it more smoothly. I came up after Vietnam, so we didn't really deal with these kind of situations in the Army.

Setter's words have some truth to them, but you refuse to allow her professionalism and objectivity stand over the code of your force. You reply to her without hesitation and your honest opinions.

"Sure, we're practically a mercenary force. We do dirty jobs for money. But that's not what it's all about. I created this force in lieu of the ideas behind my previous force; to make a home for us soldiers that have nowhere else to turn to. To those who belong in the battlefield.

But just because we're in the front lines and fighting doesn't mean we're just some money-grubbing savages at the whims of warlords and dictators who want to use us for their own. Even us soldiers have standards. A couple hundred years ago there were rules in the battlefield, code of honors even between enemies. It might be dying today, but our force sure ain't going to be like the others that trounce any goodwill just for an easier job." You lead backwards. "Yeah, I might have panicked a little back there. But I sure as hell am not going to watch an innocent woman being broken down just for the sake of a better paycheck.

Our force has higher standards. That's how it's going to be. I'm damn prepared to take the consequences of our stance. If anyone disagrees with our motto, they're free to not join along with us in the first place," you firlmly state flicking your own cigarette out the window.

Setter stares at you for a few seconds, and then signs. She shifts her position at her seat to lie down. She places her jacket over her eyes, looking to go to sleep.

"I can't find much luck with my employers can I?" she says. "Well, whatever. I'll stick around long enough to see how this goes. You better make sure your honor doesn't lead you to your downfall."

You return to base and get off the chopper. Awaiting you is a group of soldiers and they clap their hands and “Whooo!” in cheer as they begin to circle around the other men and ask questions. It seems the survives of your first mission has already been spread around base. Deer comes forward.

“A damn good first mission, Chief,” he says. “We got some extra in our payment, no casualties, and I’m sure word will spread about our spectacular job. Keep it up and we might become a force to be reckoned in no time. Now why don’t you get some rest.”

------------------------------------------------------------

You wake up one morning and head to the mess hall. The food being served there is the typical slop of beans, potatoes, and some rice. You don’t really like the crap here, and neither do the other men who seem to play and half-finish their food before throwing them away. On one section of the bench you listen to some soldiers and Setter.

“Ey, I hear you got some booze in your room. Why don’t you share some with us? Be a friend, huh Setter?”

“Touch my stuff and I’ll knock your teeth,” you hear Setter reply. The men promptly withdraw their requests.

At the office Rhino comes to speak to you about the situation.

“Chief, our food situation here isn’t the best,” he says. “Some of the men have gone to hunting the local wildlife because they think that's better than our slop. How about getting us a better menu? It might help the mood and improve morale around here. Of course, it’s going to cost us money for supplies and ingredients.”

"Right..." you say scratching the back of our head. "I haven't really been enjoying the food here either. Then let's come up wish a dish."

You and Rhino rack up some ideas, but ultimately the both of you can't decide what to add to the mess hall. After an hour of debating, you decide it might be best to just ask the men what they want.

You gather the soldiers of Junkyard Hounds at the mess hall and then give your explanation. At your announcement, the soldiers begin to grow excited and murmur in glee. It really seems the food here was crap.

"I want pasta!" one of the soldiers yells out.

"Pasta? That shit's boring. Where I'm from we have these delicious things called gyros."

"You know what's getting popular in America? Tacos man,"

The men begin arguing over what to put on the menu. There seems to be no end to the discussion, until one man steps up.

"You people for real? You guys are forgetting the classic. The food with every nutritional need in place, and still damn delicious. The food that's most popular in the West. A motherfucking burger."

The soldiers murmur amongst themselves, and in a few seconds they begin cheering and acknowledging the idea. You glance at Rhino.

"I could use a burger, honestly. With lots of fucking cheese." he says with a shrug.

And thus the mess hall of Junkyard Hounds began to serve burgers. -500 GMP, 4000 remaining. Morale is raised to Above Average.

Nah fuck them, they were utter shit characters.

From now on you can spend additional 500 GMP to create new food and new renovations within the base such as TVs, arcade games, Friday night parties… When outside of missions, drills and guard duty can get boring and having a base to feed the needs of the soldiers can improve morale, make the soldiers feel content at the base, and perhaps even spread news of good treatment within your force attracting more recruits. Besides those, they add flavor and roleplaying quirks to Junkyard Hounds. If you want to renovate the base, just say so.
But with that done, what do you do know? You hear the light armors will be finished soon. Deer tells you the jeeps you brought back are in bad condition and that it will take 500 GMP to repair them all.

You decide to look over the contract about a missile armored vehicle. Deer talks to you about the mission.

"Boss, the state of Israel has been in conflict with its Arab neighbors ever since the place was created. There have been several battles and wars; some official, some not. For the most part Israel has been holding well because of US support. But the area is still hostile and prone to attacks from enemies; sometimes armies of other countries, other times just guerrilla forces that refuse to give up the fight against the state.

Apparently one armored rocket vehicle has been shooting the city at various locations and times. It's caused some military as well as civilian casualties. From what I hear it's always escorted by a number of guards; how much we don't know.

Chief, we don't really have any explosives and or weapons for destroyed armored targets. You might need to procure supplies at the mission or ask the Israeli forces for weapons. That might seem unprofessional and make us look wake though; we are mercenaries after all.

In any case, who do you want to send?"

Bringing AT weapons we scrounge up while hunting for intel is for if the convoy's too beefy or we just plain fuck up, settling for popping the vehicle and retreating. Either we fix the tires (not so hard if we bring something a pump, sealant and some tire patches) or bring a trailer truck to get it out of there.

I'm less interested in securing the rocket vehicle than protecting our soldiers. If we can take it, great. But not if it means undue risk for our men.
>>
>>42808140
>Rhino
Shit, forgot about him. I vote we include him as well. Chances are he'll know how to take it out without serious damage.
>>
>>42808112
To be honest I feel leaving just rhino could put the base at more risk (not that he's not a badass). Anyway if an additional named employ go we might as well stay at the base. Or maybe not, we do have weapon proficiency and we are stealing an MLRS. At least I hope its that and not a single sewer pipe welded onto the back of a Toyota. Kind of rambley. Anyway taking most of our big guys out seems dangerous.
>>
>>42808185
That's entirely fair. As long as we're not putting the vehicle before our soldiers, I'm fine with trying to capture it.
>>
>>42808185
I feel the same. That's why getting AT is a big part of the plan. If the capture doesn't go smoothly or isn't feasible (Convoy=10 technicals) its better to not be greedy.
>>
>>42807860
>>42807981
Our base defenses list a few AA guns. Any chance we could slap one of those on the back of a jeep for a little backup? Sure we could TRY and steal whatever AT we could, but having some guaranteed firepower wouldn't be bad.
>>
>>42808303
I like that idea. Are our jeeps clearly military models? Because if so I would rather not then. As convenient as they would be it would be better for us to acquire some well used local vehicles to blend in. And by acquire I mean hotwire.
>>
>>42808185
we could just fallow it until they stop to rest/refuel or anytime they get out of the tank

You decide to deploy a squad of 13 soldiers along with yourself and Deer, and decide the plans for now are to secure weapons on site and ambush the vehicle. You depart from base leaving Rhino to manage things and support you via radio.

After some time of travel, you land on a city on Israel and your men remove themselves from the chopper. You head over to meet the man who gave you the mission and find his headquarters in a rocky building guarded by various soldiers. They stop you when you arrive, but after your translator explains, you and your men are allowed inside and led in to a large open office. A scowling bald man is looking over a map with several other officials.

"So the 5th division is being pushed back on this area? Pull them back and tell them to take cover on the nearby hills. We'll send the 7th armored division to support them."

"Where does that leave Iskel village? I hear a group of soldiers are moving towards the area."

"Leave it. Fuck the village. The 5th division is more important an-"

Your arrival stops the discussion on hand. The bald man orders for the rest of the officials to leave and walks forward to you.

"The... Junkyard Hounds is it?" he says looking over a paper. "Then let's be frank and get down to business. I'm a busy man. Our forces have been occupied and fighting on various fronts. There's an armored vehicle that's been bombing this city at least once a week. Fires a few rockets and then quickly retreats away. Sometimes we lost men, sometimes civilians, other times infrastructure, and we don't have the manpower to take care of the nuisance. That's where you lot come in. I want that damn vehicle taken care of, the sooner the better. Find it, eliminate the escort guards however many there are. If I hear one more explosion I swear to God."

You ask the commander one the general location and last fire points of the vehicle. He shows you the pinpoints of the attack, and your team manages to pinpoint a small area of operations. (+intel, +success to rolls in finding vechile)

However, he does not know the route nor the number of guards. That's up to you to find out. He says the enemy soldiers are typically equipped with light arm automatic rifles, grenades, and shoddy anti-tank rockets

When you ask about choppers, he shakes his head.

"Far as I know, they don't have any. Glad of it too, if I had to deal with fucking gunships I'd lose it. Most of them are just infantry and some armored vehicles."

You ask him if you can take the armored vehicle for yourself and he scoffs.

"If you think you can take it, then by all means. I don't see how you can pull that kind of shit off when you're being blasted by the cannon. Just remember that if you're gonna send your men to die on something stupid, at least take the thing out or you're not getting jack shit from me."

You ask him about the village in his discussion, possibly wanting to defend it. He rolls his eyes.

"Listen boy scout, your job isn't to protect the village. It's to take out that fucking vehicle. If you want to try and defend the village, which is out of your operational area by the way, then by all means. I'd like to see your men try and defend against a whole damn regiment of troops with mechs behind them. Hell, you pull that kind of shit off and I'll fucking give you twenty times my intended payment."

Without any further questions, you remove yourselves from the headquarters and the Israeli commander turns back to his map. You hear him cursing and grumbling you leave.

You and your men attempt to create spike strips with what resources you can procure around. Materials are difficult to come by however and the end result is a shoddy looking thing. You might still be able to make use of it though you doubt you'll do much than slow the enemy vehicle down.

Deer heads out with a few men to gather intel on the meanwhile. After a day he comes back with a happy and excited look.

"Chief, we managed to not only find the vehicle but we also managed to find intel on the route it's taking. It's headed for a group of hills to fire some shots at the city and will reach the destination in a day. We heard from enemy conversation that after that it's going to head back to base, apparently in some caves near a mountain to resupply. Also we found a small outpost nearby with five soldiers around it. One of the men has a rocket launcher and ammunition we could use.

The vehicle is guarded by six men it seems. It typically has three men guarding the front and patrolling ahead, while three other men guard the back. They're all armed with light automatics as the commander said."

It seems Deer was hugely successful on his recon. You know the route plans for the vehicle for the next few days and even the base it heads back to. Perhaps taking the base of operations out can serve as a huge bonus, but this will mean allowing the vehicle to take a few rocket shots at the city. The rocket at the outpost might aid in taking the vehicle out, but this takes away time to set an ambush. You could just take out the vehicle immediately, but it will require a lot of gunfire from your team.

What do you plan to do?

>attack the enemy outpost first, secure rocket
>make preparations to set an ambush at the hills where the vehicle is heading towards
>trail the vehicle back to base
>>

What are the chances we could take the caves, and then lay an ambush there? It would leave little room for them to use to vehicle, assuming they aren't careful during the return.
>>
>>42809778
time to split up
>>attack the enemy outpost first, secure rocket
We take 2 or 3 soldiers and ditch everything but weapons, ammo, and a radio so we can move fast. We hit the outpost, snag the rocket, and hightail it back.

>>make preparations to set an ambush
Deer takes the rest of the men and sets the ambush up, scout for good firing lines, etc.
>>
>>42809778
So

Option 1: Quick fight but can destroy the ride
Option 2: Ambush, can gain ride but enemy cam bomb us/cities
option 3: Loot but we can damage our reputation

The 1st and second can increase our rep.

hmm... tough coice
>>
How in the world are you guys going to steal the ride? Do you guys even have a plan?

This isn't Phantom Pain where we have tier 3 fultons or whatever and can just pull the vehicle out. And that thing is going to be gunning us down and possibly even shooting the rockets at us.

Without any proper equipment to take down the rocket vehicle, you decide to head out on to the enemy outpost first. You and your men surround the outpost, and it is but an area with few tents, tables, and five guards as Deer reported. The rocket and ammunition is likely in one of the tents.

What plan of action do you take? You could start a firefight and take them out by force, or you could try to take the enemy out silently. Perhaps one person can sneak in and take the rocket and you can quickly leave.

>take down enemy with guns
>attempt to take down silently and close quarters (stun or lethal)

You get down to your stomach and begin crawling towards the enemy. Because it's a minor outpost with guards spread thin and in small numbers the job is easy. You make your way around one guard, and approaching from behind, push him down to the ground before stabbing him through the heart.

Deer manages to take out another guard on the other side by sneaking behind and slitting the soldier's throat. Your other men make short work of the guards as well, two of the enemies are taken down lethally.

Only one remains and you make your way through the small outpost attempting to find him. As you walk past a small tent, unfortunate circumstances has the last soldier walking out of it right in front of you, apparently having been resting beforehand. He screams when he sees you and reaches for his pistol.

You are in close combat distance.

The guard takes out his gun and aims at you, but with a quick swing of your hand you knock his arm away from you. With a quick few steps forward, you strike him in the stomach and twisting your leg around his, you trip his balance. With all your might, you grab his chest and slam him down on the ground.

The man loses his gun and you quickly take our your gun. The man on floor easily understands his situation and surrenders.

You interrogate him for the rocket and ammunition and he is quick to spill the beans. You and your squad manage to procure the rocket and tie the man up.

"Chief," Deer says coming to you. "The enemy vehicle is going to be in position soon and are going to unload its shit. We need to move out now if we want to stop it. Or we can wait to trail it back to its base. What do you want to do?"

You question the man you captured, and he unfortunately knows nothing.

"Those guys aren't even from the same country," your interpreter tells you. "These guys are Palestinians, those guys with the vehicles are Egyptians. "

What do you plan to do?

Less enemies and no prep or entrenchment on the enemy's side. Besides if we bushwhack these Egyptians the Palestinians probably won't know or care overmuch. Makes extraction easier, as opposed to going in and kicking the hornets nest. That and y'know they're shooting rockets. Which besides not killing people would also be unfired for our later use.

Also this probably goes without saying but don't let the prisoner go free. Even if we don't kill him at least knock him out, blindfold&tie him, and give him to our employers. Even though it was just a little he's seen us and is the enemy's only lead for reprisals. Not that its likely but still.

"We're not allowing that thing to take one shot," you tell your men. "Move out, we're taking it down before it can fire."

Your squad arrives on the designated site. The armored vehicle is nestled on top of a hill and you can see from your binoculars that it is preparing to fire. The 6 guards on escort duty are positioned behind the vehicle and they chatter with each other.

The armored vehicle has one small cannon turret on top at the front, one that could easily rip a man in half. The cannon however rotates slowly and the vehicle also likely has poor maneuverability, especially position within the hills.

You have some thoughts about capturing the vehicle, and with your knowledge of weaponry you deduce that you can perhaps disable it with the rocket rather by firing at the tracks and fuel tank area than outright destroy it. But trying to just disable the vehicle could pose more of a risk. It also seems like you do not have enough time to maneuver around the sandy hills and completely surround the enemies before it fires a rocket toward the city.

What is your plan of action?
>>
>>42811000
Blow the launcher suppressive fire on the men.
>>
>>42811000
Shoot the tank to disable the vehicle.

Have our men in position to takeout the guards as soon as we fire the rocket.
>>
>>42811040
I'll go with this

Can't offer much since my knowledge of military tactics is quite minimal.
>>
>>42811085
Have two men on the RPG, one with damn fine aim and the other strong enough to help with blow back and to reload, aim the rocket for right between the tracks and engine to knock out both with the blast.

Have any sharpshooters take aim on the visible guard escort be ready to fire on count of the rocket launching, the rest of the men lay down suppressing fire on survivors.

You decide to test your luck and skills, deciding that the armored vehicle could be a good addition to your forces. You order your men to spread themselves and taking position behind a large boulder, you aim your rocket at the crane of the armored vehicle. You want to disable the launcher first and foremost.

"Fire after my shot," you command your men. "Take those guards out."

You take aim. You begin to sweat in the heat and the sweltering heat makes it difficult to concentrate. Yet you do your best to pinpoint the trajectory of your weapon.

You fire, the sound of the bazooka echoing across the hills and your ears ringing. The rocket propels forward... And it hits the launcher of the armored vehicle as you intended. You hear loud creaks as the catapult of the enemy vehicle crumbles.

But now the firefight begins. Your men begin firing their rifles and the enemy combatants scream for positions. One of the Egyptian fighters is mowed down before he can take cover but others jump to their stomach and begin firing back. Gunfire is exchanged between your squad and the enemy.

"Load up another round!" you yell at the soldier behind you as the turret of the enemy vehicle begins to turn towards your force. Your launcher is loaded but this time you only have a second to aim before you fire.

Roll 1d100, only the first roll counts.

You fire your bazooka. The flaming rocket goes with a roar and strikes the armored vehicle square on the back fuel tanks as well as a part of its tracks. Like a wounded beast, the armored vehicle crashes and falls to its side.

It's been completely disabled.

"GO GO GO!" you hear Deer yell as soon as he sees the armored vehicle goes down.

Your men advance and begin overwhelming the enemy despite their superior position in the hills. One of your soldiers is shot in the leg and goes down wounded, and one other soldier is unfortunately killed in action as he is shot multiple times on the torso and stomach. The five other enemy combatants on the other hand are shot down by your troops and you overtake the hills in short time.

"Chief, no more hostiles," a soldier radios in. You sigh a breath of relief and move up to the hills. As you reach the smoldering enemy position, your men smile and give you cheers.

"Christ o fuck," Deer says. "You took that thing in two hits. And it's still intact for us to use. How the hell..." The man is amazed.

But before more praises can go around you hear the hinge of the armored vehicle open and you see the enemy driver coming out. He drops to the floor, face bloody. He yells something in Arabic and struggles to pull out a small light machine gun.

You yell at your interpreter to tell the man to surrender, and your interrupter follows orders.

"Put down your gun, your for-"

Before he can finish however the enemy begins firing his gun with a loud scream. One of your soldiers goes down in the rampant shooting before your own forces fire back and immediately kill the enemy soldier.

Your attempt at mercy does not follow through and you lose a soldier as consequence. It was perhaps not wise to try and convince someone to surrender when he was already pulling a gun out.

"Fuck," Deer says as he spits on the ground. "Get out k.i.a, we aren't leaving our own to rot here."

“Good,” he says. “No more of our shit getting wreck by these fucks. And you say you disabled the vehicle but not destroyed it?”

“Yes,” you reply. “And as per our previous arrangement…”

“Yeah yeah yeah, whatever,” he says with a dismissal hand. “You can keep the damn thing and I’ll have a transport deliver it to you. We don’t need a busted up vehicle wasting space in our place. Our hangars are already full and messy enough as it is. Consider the thing a bonus to your paycheck. I’ll keep you guys in mind in the future,” he says. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to deal with one of our damn bases being shot to hell by mortars.”
