Your friends all touch down and approach you and Goku. The cheering of the crowds continues as they approach. All of them seem to have a mixed look of relief, cautious joy, and curiosity on their faces. All except one. Launch crosses her arms and, with a smile on her face and an obviously feigned annoyed tone in her voice, asks Goku, "So what gives, stealing our look now, Goku?"

The monkey boy reacts with an oblivious "Huh?"

Launch tugs at her hair. "Hello? This?" She momentarily lets her other self take over, hair color changing from blonde to dark blue, and then back again.

Acer rubs his chin. "That... is a good question. I thought that was just something unique to Launch." His face then gains an expression of concern. "...don't tell me you suddenly have an angry, violent split personality too." Launch gives your brother an annoyed glare.

"Forget the hair, can you guys sense his Ki?" Chuu Lee interrupts. "It's tremendous! Like a well of power that just doesn't end..."

"I'll say." Krillin adds. "Gotta hand it to you, Goku, I knew you were always gonna be one of the strongest of us, but this is something else."

Goku turns to you. "Uh, Maple, what's wrong with my hair?"

Hey guys, i'm still catching up in the archives but just wanna say love the quest. We should totally spend more time with Acer, love the twin thing.

Also you guys should try making Chi Blades, if you can make a Destructo Disk you can probably shape that ki down into an arm blade that can do the same. and that thing took a chunk outta freeza.

Also, gotta get on them gains if we wanna keep up with monkey boy once he can go gold.

Goku takes the sensible approach of backing away and checking out the screens above the Tournament, mostly still intact. He take a moment to look at himself, then tries to... apparently power down from it. Takes him a minute, but his hair changes back. He seems a little tired from that, but clearly far less taxing than using the Kaio-ken. Goku heads down to you all and rubs the back of his neck. "I... well that's strange."

Launch raises an eyebrow suspiciously. "I'll say. Come on, that's our thing."

Chi-chi rubs her chin. "Well... I mean you're stronger blonde than you are with your other self, maybe it's the same thing for Goku?"

Before you can speculate further, the Announcer guy clears his throat and addresses you. "W-well, I have to say, thank you all for saving our lives, and congratulations to our new Champion, Son Goku-" Monkey boy seems a bit giddy over that. "-but, well... mind explaining what all just happened?"

...Yeah this is gonna take some time. Hoo boy.

"We don't know all the details, like why monkey boy here went blonde, kinda figure it's something like our friend Launch-" You point to the woman, who gives a little wave. "But, it seems Garlic Jr. was actually someone in allegiance with Demons. Got power from a Demon named Towa."

"Y-you mean... like King Piccolo?" the Announcer guy asks, looking at Piccolo Jr. with concern. "So... that person who Garlic captured-"

"Don't insult me!" Piccolo shouts at him. "That weak old fool is not King Piccolo."

That calms the Announcer guy down a bit. "So... who is he, then?"

You think for a moment. Well... technically... "Guess you could say he's Piccolo Jr.'s uncle. Kinda."

"Oh." you hear the Announcer guy and several people grunt acceptingly.

"Piccolo and his kin are... actually aliens." your brother adds. "Kami, the person Garlic Jr. tried to trick us all into believing was King Piccolo, took a different path in his life than his... brother. He cares deeply for this planet and wants to help it."

The Announcer guy nods as he listens, then turns to Piccolo Jr. "Is... this true?"

The Namekian grunts at him, causing the man to back up behind Goku. Yet... he answers. "More or less. I will not have some fool disgrace my father's name like that, especially when he's too stupid to realize the difference between that old fool and King Piccolo. Garlic deserved his death."

Dear Kato

Over this past week i marathoned all of this quest in the archive. I like to follow a certain # of quests at all times and since SOM ended Spirit Detective i needed something new to do.I just wanted to say Tuffle Quest quickly skyrocketed to my favorite quest to ever read. I enjoy your writing style much more than other QM's and i felt more HYPE in killing Garlic Jr. then at any moment in any of the past DBZ quests I've participated in. Keep up the good work. I look forward to participating from now on.

"Kinda, we knew Garlic Jr. and his cohorts were up to something, but didn't really have proof until just recently. And that Magil fellow too." your brother answers. "Sorry that things started to get dangerous for everyone here, if we just knew better..."

"Ah don't sweat it, kiddo! You saved everyone here, and from the sound of things, much more." the Announcer guy tells your brother. "Well folks, let's give them all one last big round of applause to congratulate our new Champion, Son Goku, and all these heroes! This concludes the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament!"

As the crowds start doing just that, Piccolo grunts dismissively. He then looks at you all. "...we will meet again. I will become strong enough to defeat you all some day." The Namekian then points at Goku. "Even you."

"Look forward to it, Piccolo!" Goku responds cheerfully.

Things eventually settle down around noon. As the crowds clear out, you and Goku sit together on the Tournament stage, sort of... taking all this in. Wow has this been nuts. The Ox King reminded you all that he has a big feast in store back at his village, most of everyone getting ready to leave. Still... feel like you need a quiet moment. You take a look at one of the Dragon Balls you retrieved. The 1-Star Ball. "Can't believe how close we came to them getting all of them."

Goku laughs. "They wouldn't have done it, you're too clever, Maple. You'd figure out some way to stop them."

You elbow his arm gently, smiling. "Flatterer."

He grins, tail wagging happily. Goku looks down at you curiously. "...something on your mind, Maple?"

You stroke his tail a little, seems he kinda likes that. After one little quiet moment you both decide it's time to get going. "We really need a break after all this. Just some downtime, feel we all deserve some rest."

"Maybe we can check up on Bulma and Yamcha!" Goku adds excitedly. The two of you chuckle slightly. They'd certainly appreciate that, after things have calmed down a bit. Wonder how much they saw of that?

You and everyone else finish packing and slowly start to head back to the Ox King's village, greeted with a hero's welcome. The large man himself brings you all into his new mansion, Chi-chi smiling a little nostalgically at it. Tao's left with Shen, Blue, and Pilaf, while Trip heads in your direction, and even Baba shows up, to your surprise.

Trip informs you that Kami has recovered, and was quite astounded by what all happened. He's apparently going to be talking with some people about Goku's... transformation.

You then head to Baba, talking with Roshi in... a more serious tone than you were expecting. She notices you and your brother approach. "I am quite pleased by what all has happened, Wild Cards. I didn't quite believe it when I saw it, but that... was something else."

"Ah, it's no big, Auntie Baba." Acer comments.

You laugh. "No big? Hah, let's not undersell ourselves, brobro."

Roshi smiles pleasantly at you both, then at the other members of the Turtle School. "Can't believe those kids I took in to be my students all ended up to be such amazing warriors."

"Aw, thanks, dad." you tell him. "So... what's up? You seemed pretty serious there."

Baba frowns. "I've had this premonition. Something about an octagon... and fire." She adds a lot more emphasis than you were anticipating to that last part. "But I haven't gotten a clear picture due to, well..." She reveals that the crystal ball she normally uses for fortunetelling is... fractured. Well that's not good.

Your timing could not be any better, as you both manage to help everyone out just in time. The entire castle seems to become engulfed in flames. Chi-chi steps forward, gripping the item tight and with a yell of "BANSHO FAN!" she swings the object, unleashing a powerful gust of wind.

The flames seem to die down... but only for a moment. Chi-chi stares in disbelief. Your student stands next to her, preparing some of her wind magic to help Chi-chi as she tries again. It again seems to quell the flames, but only for a moment. Shit. This isn't working...

"Starting to seem like there's always something..." Chuu Lee comments in an exhausted tone. You nudge your student in the arm.

"There seems to be something wrong with the Furnace of Eight Divisions, the... you could say it's the doorway between this life and the next of Earth. The guardian of the furnace, Annin, will be able to explain the situation. I recommend that you split into two teams, one to head to the mountain, and one to wait for instruction outside."

Sadly, we rolled a fucking 2 on replicating capsules, and your scouter has some weird patent lock that we need to raise our level a few more times before we can get undone.
Oh, we've managed to weaponise Bulma's shrinking watch. Currently we've just used it to put miniature explosives inside things that inflate to full size before detonating.

Rolls take precedence over logic when it comes to technology, it seems.
We've been nagging the DM to let us store luck, since IC we know that RNG affects our actions. But the DM has been vetoing it every time. Worried we're going to get a bunch of 1s and then dump them on Towa whenever she interacts with Maple, and derail the plot.

You quickly all switch back to your regular clothes, Goku grabs Oolong, and the four of you head back to the Ox King's village. Dropping off the pig man, noticing Roshi, Yajirobe, and the large man himself cooking hotdogs from the heat of the flames, and then head towards Mount Five Element, following Baba's instructions. The gates past it are no obstacle, and while initially there seems like there might be a fight ahead as five beings seem to step out to confront you, they end up just letting you pass.

The person to greet you all at the entrance is... not quite who you were expecting to see again. "So we meet again! It's been so long, I'm glad you're doing well, Maple and Goku."

"Grandpa!" the monkey boy shouts out excitedly. You also notice that... Gohan's Power Level's almost as high as your own. He's been training hard under King Kai, it seems.

"You've grown into such an upstanding young man, Goku. And with an adorable little redhead at your side." Gohan says, winking at you and smiling.
