>This Quest takes place in the world of Yu Yu Hakusho, where you play as a young man who will become Koenma's new Spirit Detective

>Decisions will be made by vote; at the end of each update I give, options will be provided. Typically, you should only vote on one, but in some circumstances multiple options will be taken in a vote.

>There will be ten minutes to vote after each update; whichever option has the most votes will win

>Writeins will typically be allowed, though only when they are given as options at the end of a post

>This is not DBZ, so death will almost certainly be permanent

>This is not Game of Thrones, so main characters will probably not be dying left and right. So, be careful with your choices, but also relax and have fun

After the man gets some help for Robert, he leads you down the hall. Following, you soon come to an office. Judging by what's written on the door, you assume this man is Mr. Scott, the school's guidance councilor.

He takes a seat behind his desk and gestures for you to sit as well. You do as instructed, and take one of the chairs in front of the desk. Mr. Scott gives you a relaxed smile, one that would normally put you at ease, but for some reason really doesn't at the moment. The whole thing with Robert a few moments ago was pretty screwy, after all, and your face kind of hurts from the punches you got.

"Well, Siegfried, from what you told me, it sounds as if you acted in self defense," Mr. Scott tells you. "However, I'm afraid the administrators may still insist on punishing you."

"That's ridiculous!" you protest. "I'm getting in trouble for defending myself and wanting to avoid serious injury?"

Mr. Scott gives a sad nod. "I'm afraid so. There are plenty of parts to this story someone, say, Robert's parents could use against the school, like your mocking Robert in gym class, or the fact that you made him feel humiliated in front of his friends in the fight yesterday, or the excessive force you used in the fight a few minutes ago. The school has to cover itself from potential lawsuits, and the easiest way to do that is to punish you so they can easily claim they did all they could about it."

He leans back, giving you a sympathetic look. "I really don't think you did anything wrong, if I'm being completely honest. Well, I suppose you used more force than necessary in your fight, but from what you told me, he wasn't exactly pulling any punches himself."

There's a knock on the door, and a man with gray hair sticks his head in.

"I'm sorry to interrupt, but I wanted to let you know that Siegfried and Robert's parents have been contacted," he says.

"Thanks, Bertram," Mr. Scott says with a nod.

The door shuts, and Mr. Scott turns his attention back to you, but something else occupies yours.

You see a small shape moving across the room, hovering in the space around Mr. Scott's desk. You can't see it too well since it's moving, but it looks a bit like the bug you saw the other night.

"The school will talk to your parents, and Robert's, and we can hopefully work this whole thing out," Mr. Scott says, apparently oblivious to the bug, or just ignoring it.

"I'm sorry," you tell your parents.

"It's not your fault," your father assures you.

Your mother glances at him disapprovingly. "That's not entirely true."

She looks back at you. "That other boy started it, but you chose to continue provoking him. I know that doesn't make his actions right, and if someone attacks you, you have every right to defend yourself, but you need to learn to pick your battles."

She steps forward, giving you a hug. You hug her back, and when she steps back, you wait to see if she says anything about the blood on your hands.

She does not, perhaps because of the somewhat expectant look on your face. When you give your father a hug, he does not react to it either, seeming to not have noticed anything.

You make your way over to the table, and the conversation comes to a halt. Jim immediately adopts his "panicked" look that you've grown so accustomed to recently, while the girl looks you over, studying you with an intensity that makes you feel rather uncomfortable.

"Alice, Koe-" he starts before Alice cuts him off in turn.

"He also wants this situation handled. Between us and Siegfried here, we've only caught five of them, and there's supposed to be at least a dozen, right?" Alice asks.

"So why can I see them? And why can't other people?" you ask.

"You were born with something most people don't have," Alice answers. "It's a kind of power that lets you see things others can't, like the Shaytan flies."

That explains a lot of things, actually. Beyond just the flies that nobody else seemed to notice, it means you probably weren't crazy about seeing ghosts at your old home.

"And why wouldn't Jim tell me about this?" you ask, giving the boy an annoyed look.

"Our boss told us not to get you involved with this," Jim answers, giving Alice a glare. "But apparently my sister forgot about that."

Alice shrugs. "He knew something was going on, and with how the first couple days of school have been going, he was going to get involved on his own. I think it's better if he knows a little bit about what's happening."

Jim just sighs, apparently not having an argument for that.

"So, why are you guys so worried about catching these flies?" you ask.

"Shaytan flies are a rare type of insect, and are very dangerous," Jim tells you. "We were sent to get rid of them and see who brought them here."

>>43024539
"Why would someone have to bring them here?" you ask.

"They aren't from this town, or even from this world," Alice explains.

"Alice..." Jim warns.

Alice ignores her brother and continues. "They come from a place known as Demon World. You can probably guess from the name that it's not a place these bugs could just fly from."

"Why are these bugs dangerous?" you ask, feeling a little unsure about the whole "Demon World" thing.

"They seek out living humans and bite them," Alice tells you. "Once that happens, the victims begin to undergo a transformation, becoming low level demons with violent temperaments."

You guess that would explain why Robert was acting like a rabid dog today, and maybe even why PC seemed to be in such a bad mood.

"The transformation takes at least two days, sometimes more," Alice explains. "But the infected become a lot more violent and confrontational, and slowly become stronger. They don't look any different until they're fully transformed, but we've already found a few people who have the other symptoms."

"These flies are dangerous on their own, but a lot more dangerous in the hands of a person who would bring them here," Jim explains.

"We were given special medicine that can reverse the effects," Jim tells you. "The problem is that we only have enough for a few people."

"We can cure a dozen people, tops," Alice explains. "So what we need to do is find all of the flies and kill them. Then we need to find the person who brought them here."

Lunch passes, with Jim not saying much, but Alice at least making an effort to be friendly. It comes to an end, and you go to the rest of your classes, following Alice's instructions and waiting around after school.

You spot her not too far from the busses, staring into a mirror a lot like Jim's. You make your way towards her, and she closes the mirror, glancing around before gesturing for you to follow her.

"I'll talk to you later," you ay before running off.

A good jog is certainly a good way to keep in shape, but if you want to be able to fight, a gym would be a better place for it.

That's when you remember that you don't have money for a gym membership.

You decide to just go for a run, and make your way around the town, taking note of where certain shops and restaurants are as you get your exercise.

Soon you feel yourself getting tired and run home.

Your family is sitting down to dinner when you arrive, and your mother gives you a somewhat irritated look.

"Where have you been?" she asks.

I got to thinking how close I came to getting really badly injured back at school. Thought I should start exercising and stuff so I can take a hit better.

"I was out running," you answer.

"Out running? Since when do you do that?" your dad asks.

"I got thinking about how close I got to getting hurt at school," you answer. "I thought I should start exercising and stuff so I can take a hit better."

"I'd say you handled yourself just fine," your dad replies.

"Someone tried to hurt you?" Madelyn asks worriedly.

"He's fine, sweetie," your mom assures her. "He beat the bad people up."

"Mom, I need to talk to you," you tell your mother.

"Alright," she says, leaving the kitchen and going into the living room. She takes a seat on the couch, and motions for you to sit next to her.

"So, what's going on?"

You tell your mom everything that Alice and Jim told you. She doesn't interrupt, she doesn't deny anything, she just sits and listens while you say what you need to say.

"Mom, do you know their boss?" you ask. "Are you like me?"

She sighs. "I knew you'd find out eventually. Yes, Siegfried, I know their boss. He used to be my boss."

"What did you used to do?" you ask.

"I was something called a Spirit Detective," your mom answers. "My job was to hunt down demons and Spirits that were causing trouble in our world."

"Was dad one too?" you ask.

"No, but he helped me out a lot," she answers. "That's how we met, actually."

"I hate to ask this...but can you guys train me?" you ask.

Your mom stares at you for a long moment, a smile coming to her lips before she answers.

"No."

He looks nothing like John.

Your mom is very worried

No how much of his attitude reminds her of John. Thats what I mean with mom being worried, how John died cause he died due to not seeing the writing on the wall/dumb anons.
