You scramble through the underbrush; breath is quickly drawn through your maw in need and fear. Shadows are cast through the trees from the torches behind held by the mass of men tearing after you. Not your fault that one mother and newborn were delicious, or that they left the window open. Nevermind that though, as things of larger important at stake ... like your life.

You jump over a fallen tree, and crawl under the upturned roots; beginning to tear through the soil with your claws you try your best to dig your self deeper down and conceal yourself. You hold your body as still as possible to not make any noise as the thundering boots of men pound on by you. Against your better judgement you slip into sleep; your eyelids sealing together and delivering you to the dark abyssal void.

When you awake bird calls, and sunshine greet your ears and eyes. The piercing ray of light stings your eyes, but is not completely unbearable yet as dusk has yet to end. You think on what to do ne-What was that?
A whistling tune comes through the forest... followed by a child's voice.
"Hänschen klein, Ging allein, In die weite Welt hinein. Stock und Hut, Steht ihm gut, Ist gar wohlgemut."

You patiently wait to get more information on what is going right outside you. Holding your head up to hear better; you quietly wait with breath held and take in the boy's voice.

"Father, why did Ulrick go leave so late with the other men last night?" The young boy asks curiously.

" Did your mother not tell you last night Aton? Another TearJaw broke into the village last night and ate Mrs. Tricht and her child." A deeper, bass voice replies.

"Oh.... Did they catch it?"

"Aton had they caught it they would have cut its head off and carried it through the village, and the partying would still be ongoing."

As they talk the pair continue to walk, and they now have their back to you. You can now catch a glimpse of them. The two seem to be dressed in tanned hides, woven fabrics, and armed with bow and dagger.

Dusk is begin to end.

A quivering feeling, like a rabbit before a snake builds in your gut. As you wait the quivering grows to a pain, the pain into a thunder, and a thunder into want. Your jaws clack together in need, saliva dripping from the maw in the center of the sharp teeth. You smell the sweat on the man, and the soil on the boy.

The two males continue to walk into the forest; still chattering until they are about 50 feet away from your hole. If you let them get away now, you will not be able to pursue them in the baptism bright daylight.

However, there could be other things lurking in these woods other than you.

IT IS TOO MUCH!

You haul yourself out of the hole and at breakneck speed to the pair. The hunger must be appeased. With their backs to you the two continue to walk and talk.

"So Dad, what does bear taste like?" Asks the little one.

"Very chewy... almost li-What is that?" The man replies.

The father turns his body to face you, must of have heard your footsteps, with only 4 feet seperating your two bodies. You rear back a fist and rack him in the jaw, sending the man to the ground. Blood burst from his lip and he spits out a tooth. You enter a hunched over stance of savage cruelty.

"DAD! Are you ok?" The boy screams, fear and panic taking hold of his voice as he rushes to his father's side.

"Aton...run..." The man says, eyes locked on you with hate burning into you.

"Dad..but I-GO!" The father and child say back and forth, until the child gets up and runs deeper into the forest. The man rises up from where he fell, and raises his fists clenched.

You're not getting away that easily fleshling. Legs pumping, you kick up leaves and soil tearing after the child. His small legs take at least three steps to match your long strides, so you are quickly gaining after him.

"DAMN YOU! Leave him, fight me coward!" Screams the father, desperation filling his voice as you grow closer and closer to his son. He quickly chases after you.

The young boy runs full kilter, huffing, and puffing; tears streaming down his face, and snot bubbling slow him down however. You grab him by his shoulder and in his struggling he strikes you across the face.

"Why you little shit!" You growl out midst his screaming. You raise your foot and smash it into his lower leg and smile as a audible crack emerges.

"MY LEG! Oh Rytash, my leg!" He cries out in pain. You turn around, smile glued to your face, and see the father pointing a pulled bow at you.

With lighting quickness, you grab the squealing boy on the ground and hoist him in front of you as a crude, living, shield of flesh. The father falters for a moment, and tears begin to stream from his eyes

"Aton.... I'm sorry," the father says through sobs. "Forgive me."

"Wait-AUGH!" The child tries to reply but you are not going to wait around for the man to shoot through the boy, and so you throw the boy at the father. The man goes to catch
his son.

Dropping his bow in the process.

Not one to waste an opportunity you dart ahead to the man as he is distracted. Grabbing his dagger on his waist, you work your way up from where the blade came from; gutting the man like a pig causes him to scream as his entrails flop out like big, fat maggots.

Upon seeing his father dying in the dirt, the boy releases a grief filled shriek. Already feeling a headache coming on from the high pitched screaming, you slit his throat and leave the boy to drown in his blood. As the death rattle comes bubbling from his throat, you think of what to do next. The sun has risen and you must soon take shelter.

Pleased with the result of your hunt you release a sign of pent up tension and aggression, and then go to work cleaning the bodies. You take care to remove entrails from both bodies to keep the meat clean. Immediatly buring the guts to hide the stench from others, you then dig in. With a savage hunger you then tear into the man's corpse, swallowing mouthfulls of gore and flesh.

Mmmm... that some good heart. Moaning with the pleasure with the taste of proper meat you quickly find yourself gorged on flesh. You then take rope from the boy's pocket and string him up and tie him to yourself for easier transport.

As the sun rises higher and higher, your eyes sting with increased pain, and you feel weaker as if your soul is being ground like glass with every step you take. In your confusion you find yourself circling back and around until you realize that ...you.... are hopelessly lost.

Then you hear the braying of dogs... and the marching of men.

Panic filling your mind you begin to run opposite of the sound, towards the mountains. Hopefully you can find shelter there.

The Blackridge Spire, is a mountain range that run along the border of Halestia. It's largest peak is the Helgrind Spire where a ruined fortress from the Runic Wars lays in squalor. Its flora and fauna are tough and hardy, just like the rock buried below the snow-capped peaks.

You trudge up the increasingly steep mountain, and do your best to cover your tracks be it going through streams, or rubbing dung on yourself.

Soon you can no longer hear the dogs, and allow yourself to slow. After some time searching you find a cave to hunker down in, and let the "cargo" slide off your shoulders ...and relax

Sleep soon finds you, and you awake with the moon's glow upon you when you walk to the mouth of the cave.

To better settle into your subterrain home, you decide to go explore its stone halls and floors. You begin to walk in one direction down a narrow hallway, running your hand across the wall as you go. Eventually you reach a large antetheatre, with a ceiling reaching several men's heights above you with a single opening the size of a dog letting in light.

Continuing down a corridor you come to a pool of water, but in this darkness... it would be far to dangerous to go diving into its depths. Turning around and heading back to the the large room you head down another hallway.

Down this stone tunnel is nothing but darkness, and you walk for what seems like hours and make what feels like no progress. As you push onwards you feel a pressure on your mind, a weight that pulls and crushes down on your thoughts; slowing them like mud.

Whispers at the edges on your minds, shapes darker than this total darkness swim in your vision. And then a voice, deep from centuries of thoughts on sustained and cronic brutality and torment thrusts into your skull, bashing to the forefront of your attention.

"Far from home are you little one?"

With your mind and heart striken with terror, you run full sprint from the primordial presence in this dark abyss.

When your mind returns to you; you are gasping for breath at the entrance of the cave. Night is half way through. You are feeling a bit peckish.
