There's already all sorts of oxygen in this tank. Believe me, if tthere's a fire, you bail the fuck out ASAP. Otherwise you're dead. That was one of the major problems of the T-34, poor hatch positioning. As a result, when it was hit it tended to kill most of its crew. The Sherman, on the other hand, was the opposite. Excellent hatch placement meant that most of its crew survived a hit.

"Well, nothing we didn't expect." Parker says. "Reik movements have ground to a halt without fuel. Lord Artois is making headway towards Tilean lines, and he should be there in a few days. Maybe even today if we're lucky."

"The thing is our timing." Bannon sighs. "We can just go at regular pace. Keep ourselves rested and in good condition when we arrive, or we can go full sprint and try and link up with them as soon as possible."

You all head out to get your VTs prepped. Fortunately, the squires had done a good job getting your VTs tuned up and cleaned. You also note Willem's VT is present, though that's not saying much, since he has to go the same way you do in order to link back up with Lord Artois. However, you don't have time to talk to him as everybody gets packed.

"Wait! Wait!"

You turn to see another squire dashing up, and he slides to a halt, bowing to you briefly.

"What is it?" You ask.

"Well, there's a humble request we ask of you." The squire pants. "Some of the lords left various... items behind in the march. We were arranging a second caravan to have their things brought up to them, but that would take another few days and we figured, since you were heading to that area anyways, that you would be willing to carry them? It's just a few cargo crates, and we can easily lash them to the sides of your steeds!"

"I don't know. That's going to be a lot of extra weight." Tarin frowns.

"It'll definitely improve the knights' morale, though." You point out.

"Maybe." Tarin shrugs.

Finally caught up on VTQ after reading through VMQ 1&2. Great stuff Merc, even when the threads sometimes turned into a waifu-flinging shit show.

Have you ever considered doing an XCOM Enemy Unknown quest? I feel it would fit your type of quest writing. Random selection of squadies so you can insert fan favorites from previous quests and other games/anime, a research tree that players can invest in outside of combat; Macro element of trying to get money for research, small squad based combat where you control up to six people on a mission, a quirky researcher who you can turn into whoever you want. Trying to lead a group of people through war. There's even an ace combat element when you send out interceptors to shoot down ufos. And there's some quest appropriate art out there already.

If there's anyone who could do an xcom quest, it'd be you. I really hope you take it into consideration.

You turn out of your hatch. Through the tree canopies, you can just barely see another Reikland village. A walled one. However, it seemed to be besieged by a ring of armed men and older pattern VTs.

"Are those Bretons?" You wonder.

"Can't be." Alex says. "No recognizable heraldry."

"Best guess, either these guys are bandits or deserters. Looks like they're trying to siege that town." Rock observes.

"So, what do we do?" Tarin asks.

"What can we do? It's not our land, and not our fight." Alex points out.

"That's cold, Alex." Rock whistles. "Real cold."

"It's the truth."

As long as we're sure this isn't a rebel group trying a daring raid on a secret Reikland spell circle/evil science facility, put a few high-power rounds in the back of their VTs. They'll cook up good and scatter.

Minimal fuss, and we can also crush these bandits before they become a threat to our forces. Key selling point in our report to Command there. Bandits are like wild dogs, they'll turn on you if you don't put 'em down.
