For future reference, I think I might have a way around the illusion range problem. We could use a nonsentient golem body to move around the academy while you stay with her and maintain the illusion. Since the range issue is based on the distance between you and the target, it shouldn't be an issue with remote observation. The only issue is making the golems convincing, since it'll be out of range, and linking it with your minds.

Or maybe it would be easier to disguise the golem from a distance than to generate a full-sensory illusion for Fael from a distance. Would that work for you?

Keep in mind that, if she is some sort of conspirator, it's likely that whatever she's written in her book is an attempt to influence the reader's actions rather than reflecting her "true" motivations.

Also look through the other books, so they don't assume you were looking specifically for her.

Come to think of it, we don't really know a whole lot about your world's economy or politics. We know a lot of little tidbits, but that's mostly about the cultural and physical quirks of the various races.

For humans, that involves dim lights, pleasant smells, soothing music, and soft beds. A lack of strain on the senses.
