As the smoke clears from the explosion, you see Lord Jiraiya's body, unmoving. Konan and the body of Pain seem to be surrounded by thick layers of paper, though much of it seems to be burned through. The papers that managed to stay unscorched start to move, forming wings behind the blue haired woman. She takes off into the sky carrying the body, and heads away from the battle.

She's hurt, but alive. That may mean that Lord Jiraiya has a chance as well.

Before you can even try to verify, you hear Sasuke.

"Master Jiraiya!" he cries.

You turn your head to see Sasuke heading toward his master, disregarding his enemies. This would be a fatal mistake were it not for someone who was lying in wait.

As one of Pain's bodies is about to impale Sasuke, a figure shunshins in the way of the attack. In Sasuke's place, someone else is run through. It's someone you recognize, Fugaku Uchiha.

"Father... why?" is all Sasuke manages to stammer, as he stares dumbfounded at the scene.

"You need to become strong, Sasuke." Fugaku coughs, gripping the blade though his chest. "Strong enough to surpass your brother. Grow stronger and lead the Uchiha to greatness. I know you can do it, son. I believe in you. Make me proud."

As Fugaku finishes, Pain rips him apart and throws his body aside.

"No, Father!" you hear Sasuke cry, as he dives at Pain.

Through the pain, you manage to push yourself to your knees. You can't just lie down. Not when so much is at stake.

Sasuke has been handling himself alright, and you don't think you could manage much right now anyway.

You stumble over the Lord Jiraiya before quickly summoning a small monkey and sending it to fetch Tsunade.

Once that's done, you place your palms over Lord Jiraiya and start to heal what you can. There are burns all over him, but it's not as bad as the explosion made it look. If Tsunade can get here, he can pull through. For now, you just treat the burns that are dangerously close to vital areas.

As you do so, you shout to Sasuke. "Sasuke! The blue haired woman took off! If you follow her, she should lead you right to the real body!"

Your advice falls on deaf ears. Sasuke doesn't acknowledge you, and continues to fight like a madman. He's also using some technique you haven't seen before. He's generating some kind of black flames, which engulfs all but one of the Pain bodies.

After a few minutes, Tsunade lands next to you.

"I'll take it from here, Kon." she says, shooing you away. She immediately starts work on Jiraiya, completely focused.

After a bit, you manage to stand and walk over to where Sasuke was fighting. All that remain of the Pains are a statue and two charred bodies.

Sasuke is looking at the remains of his father, his face nearly as lifeless. One look tells you that there is no saving him.

"Sorry,Kon." Sasuke mutters, turning to you. "Did you say something?"

He may no longer have his puppet bodies, but there's no telling whether the real one may still be strong. You and Sasuke should go together.

"Come on, let's follow that woman." you tell Sasuke. "She's headed to the real body."

Sasuke takes a deep breath, and goes over to one of the black stakes on the ground that was sticking in one of the Pain bodies.

"Go into Sage Mode and track him down with this." Sasuke says, handing the rod to you. "You're too beat up to fight when we get there anyway."

You gather enough Nature chakra to enter Sage Mode, then feel the chakra coming from the rod. It's receiving chakra from outside the village, so you follow the signal, Sasuke in tow. It eventually leads you to a cave.

You and Sasuke walk inside to find a red haired skeleton of a man hooked up to some kind of machine. The Rinnegan ensure that this is Pain's true body, Nagato.

Beside him is Konan, half her face covered in paper, likely to hide her burns. At her feet is the body of Pain you defeated, the one she called Yahiko.

"So you have come." Nagato says. "Are you here to kill me?"

Konan pulls out a scroll and before you appear a woman's corpse and four other corpses, standing with cracks across their skin. You recognize three of them. Gaara, Roshi, and Han.

"It seems you were able to keep the seven tails jinchuuriki alive somehow." Nagato says, as he makes a hand sign. "If you would be so kind, please try and do so for the remaining jinchuuriki as well."

"Gedou: Rinne Rebirth Jutsu."

Suddenly, a large demon like figure rises from the ground. It opens its mouth and five lights fly out, all going to meet the corpses. Once they have, the figure disappears, and Nagato hunches over, dead.

The five formerly dead people begin to stir.

"What is this?" Gaara asks, holding his head and looking around, "Where am I?"

After spending a few moments completely dumbfounded, you rush over to the jinchuuriki to check if they're alright.

You have Sasuke come over and try to deal with those five, while you start to walk over to Nagato's body, intent on dealing with the Rinnegan.

As you approach, the space in front of Nagato and Konan begins to warp. Before them appears a man in an Akatsuki robe wearing an orange mask.

"Not so fast, there." the man says, putting his hand on Nagato's corpse. "These eyes still have a great purpose. And I intend to return all three of these friends to the Rain as a group, as well. I can't have you interfering."

He must have appeared with some space time ninjutsu. You have no idea how it works, either.

Obito can dodge attacks by phasing partway into other dimensions. He can pull things with him, too. So he'll probably just bring Nagato's corpse with him and the attack will pass right through both of them without any effect. So Obito still has the Rinnegan, all the villages are mad at us for leaving to defend Konoha, and Nagato resurrected the jinchuriki instead of the casualties from his attack. No, Laze said that we could never get Perfect Sage Mode, that Kon just doesn't have the inherent ability to manipulate natural energy well enough. It has nothing to do with who we learned from. And I'd be fine with Sasuke being more powerful than us, it's the degree by which he's more powerful that annoys me. He's got the Mangekyo Sharingan and senjutsu, that's ridiculously OP. It's kind of implied, based on the lack of comment on him being all toad-y, that it's Perfect Sage Mode, too. So no matter how hard we work we'll never be as impressive as this other guy. He's the protagonist, the plot is really all about him, we're just an interesting side-story.

We need to become acting Hokage and just show up with Han and roshi at Iwa, when we sit down to talk we just flop the hat on the table and say well I'm in charge now it seems.

My problem with the whole Sasuke deal isn't that he's OP, that's fine. My problem is that he just has so much more of a connection to the main story. Like he had a connection to Hinata and we didn't, he fought Naruto at the valley of the end, we were Neji in that arc, His father just died, he went on the trip with Jiraya. The closest we came to having anything in the story that affected us personally was Sarutobi dying. I really think that something needs to happen to someone Kon cares about, like 10/10, his uncle, Konohamaru or even his clan so it doesn't just feel like we're tagging along on Sasuke Quest.

You start to help your uncle dig through the rubble. You find that there's still a decent amount of things intact, besides furniture. Most of the stuff in your room was in drawers that kept them safe, and your uncle is able to find most of his good cooking implements in decent condition. You also manage to find all your family photos. All in all, you should be able to rebuild the restaurant and fill it with a lot of the same things that were in it.

"Thanks for the help, Kon." your uncle says as you finish. "Unless you've got someone you want to impose on, we might have to camp out for a while. But it'll be alright. Let me get a fire going, and I'll fix some grub."

Your uncle starts to cook some food he got out intact, and your teammates show up.

"Woah, tough break on the restaurant." Kiba comments. He puts his arm around your shoulder. "Well, you've got friends that'll put you up if you want!"

Once food is ready, the four of you all sit and eat. You make conversation, and talk late into the evening, having a great time to make up for the day you've all had. After you've all eaten, Kiba and Sasuke get up.

"So Kon, are you staying here?" Sasuke asks. "You don't have to weather this out alone, you know."

"That's very kind of you, Sasuke." she says, before turning to you and your uncle. "You can stay here as long as you need. I'm Mikoto Uchiha."

"Nice to meet you." your uncle greets her. "The name's Keiji Karagowa. Thank you for your hospitality."

You and your uncle are led to a free room, which Sasuke tells you was Itachi's, and you put all your things away.

After talking with Sasuke a while longer, you find that you're exhausted despite how early it is, so you lay out a futon and go to sleep while Sasuke goes to his room and does the same.

"You've got some good friends, Kon." your uncle tells you as you drift off to sleep. "People you can really depend on."

Not long afterwards, you fall asleep. You've got a lot of work ahead of you tomorrow.

I think what we need do do with Kon is improve and refine our techniques. But what we need most is an ultimate, our mangekyou sharingan or Strength of a Hundred Seal. I was thinking something similar to the latter. Maybe we can create a shield within our very skin, the shield lets us to store more natural energy than ever known the shield literally holding our body together, the shield is sustained by that very chakra, but with nature chakra the outlet/upkeep is less than the amount we take in. Anytime the shield is breach a jet of nature chakra would erupt blasting the foe before sealing shut again.
