The line goes silent for a few seconds.

"Umm, did something happen?" Gabrielle asks. "Shary said that's kind of a weird thing for -you- to be calling us about."
"Yeah, I guess it is..." I sigh. "You haven't heard of a guy called 'Faceless,' have you?"
"I kinda remember that name," she replies. "He's some kind of wannabe kaitou guy, right?"

Great, so she knows about him. This should make things easier.

"Yeah," I nod. "He broke in here and stole something of mine so I wanted to make sure the same thing didn't happen to you."
"What!?" Gabrielle shrieks so loud that I have to pull the phone away from my ear. "He didn't hurt you, did he!?"
"I'm fine."
"Does Charlotte know!? I'm gonna call her and then ma and Shary're gonna come over there ourselves so don't go anywhere, alright?"

"Eh?" I glance at her sister, who seems to have finally gotten fully dressed. "No, this is all me saying this!"

As I'm fumbling for what to say to this angry girl, Charlotte holds her hand out in front of me.

Instead of handing Charlotte my phone, I hit the button to switch it to speaker and place between us on the bed. Charlotte seems kind of surprised by this at first, but that expression goes right away when she hears Gabrielle's voice through my crappy phone speakers.

"Hey, you still there?" Gabrielle calls out. "you didn't hang up on me, did you?"
"No," Charlotte replies, "she didn't."
"Wha- CHARLOTTE!?"

"Yes, me," Charlotte replies. I'll take care of things over here so you can go on back to sleep. Okay?"
"How the heck am I supposed to sleep when Cecile calls me way too freaking early to tell me that she got ROBBED!?" Gabrielle shouts. "And knowing that, I'm surprised that YOU aren't about to kill someone!"
"I'd certainly -like- to," her sister replies, a grim expression on her face, "but now isn't the time to be panicking."

Considering that Charlotte's been declared as Faceless's next target (I think), I'm actually kind of surprised that she isn't.

"Did you tell Daddy what happened?" Gabrielle asks.
"I tried to call him right afterwards but I guess he was in the middle of another call," Charlotte replies. "I left a message on his voicemail though, -and- I texted him the same information."
"Well at least you did that," she grumbles. "He'll know what do do..."

I was wondering when she'd get her father involved in this.

"...ooh, you know who you should get to help!?" Gabrielle gasps.
"Who?" Charlotte asks.
"Oscar!"

"I bet he'd be happy to help since he knows Cecile!" she chirps.

"Uh..." I trail off, "...I'll have to think about it."
"Why?" Gabrielle asks. "He was willing to help us look for Mina and he helped Charlotte fight that vampire lady too, I bet he'd jump at the chance to catch this Faceless jerk!"
"Maybe," I mumble, "but I don't really know how to contact him directly, he just kind of shows up when he wants to."

As I say this, Charlotte's covering her mouth and trying desperately to keep from laughing out loud. I'm glad that she's still able to keep her sense of humor at a time like this.

Leaving my phone on the bed, I make my way over to my dresser and pull out something to wear for the day. Charlotte and Gabrielle continue with their conversation while I do this, arguing about whether or not it's safe for her to get involved in this and how Gabrielle REALLY wants to see "Oscar" again and more of the usual sisterly bickering. I'm kind of glad that I didn't let it slip that her not-so-secret crush is actively involved in all this garbage or she'd probably force her way over here regardless of what Charlotte said.

But in the end, Charlotte manages to convince her to stay put for the day and watch out for her own things while we take care of this.

I really hope we can take care of this.

With my change of clothes in hand, I start towards my door.

"Go on ahead downstairs," I say to Charlotte, "I'm gonna go take a shower."
"......" Charlotte glances in the general direction of the living room and winces.
"Or you can stay up here until I'm done, it doesn't really matter to me."
"Thanks," Charlotte replies, breathing a sigh of relief.

I guess the idea of spending time in a room alone with Irene and Theresa together is less than appealing to her. And for once, her aversion to Irene-related things is actually kind of justified.

"God damn it."

I'd made a habit of messing around with lightshows while in the shower, but I'm in no mood to do so this morning. And every time I try to relax and just enjoy the hot water washing over me, I imagine Faceless's stupid blank masked head peeking through the wall. The paranoia is bad enough as it is but the fact that I'm not even being unreasonable about it makes it even worse. I mean, he even said to us himself that the original owner of his body used to perv on girls in the shower and stuff...

...man, I just want this to end already.

That's it for tonight's thread, folks. I only managed to write about half as much as usual thanks to my late start time and the internet outage earlier, hopefully next time'll go over smoother.
