(OOC: So here's that image macro thing. I wanted it to be an informative overview so that any new player can come and quickly get a rough idea of what's at hand, as well as have a nice art feature. The big pic and the name/description will depend on the "main character" of the story post, so that newcomers/recurrent players can also quickly get to know/remember the character we're interacting with. You woke up. The first you saw was the sky, blue and dotted with a few meager clouds.

Slowly, you raise yourself up and sit on the floor. You notice that you where at the rooftop of a school - Machi Town's highschool. Then, there, on the ground in front of you, there was also a sheathed katana.

Your head tilts to a side slightly. Machi... Town. It reverberated in your mind. It felt empty, somehow, hollow. You couldn't remember your name.

Who were you?

Your eyes dart to your abdomen and you start to pat your body in self-inspection, noticing that you were dressed in the school uniform, and with a backpack. You roll it in front of you and zip it open, finding a stack of notebooks in it titled "Shujin Kou - Math", or " - Literature", and so on.

Odd. The name wasn't familiar at all. It was like if your memories had been hollowed out like a melon, yet you had a knacking feel that there was something in your conciousness, in your thoughts that wasn't part of that emptiness. Something that wasn't yours.

You decide to take a moment to concentrate and focus. You sit down more comfortably, and start to delve into your thoughts. Something was up.

You travel into your psyche, dreaming awake, trying to build images that would be familiar, "yours" in a sense, but nothing came up. Your brain was empt- except for something right there... It was hard to pinpoint, it was just so abstract, but it was there, in your mind.

It was red. Whatever it was. Very red, shining brightly, inside of you. What was it? Your inner self approached it. It was an inscription of some sort - a red, hot branding of a rune. It wasn't japanese, or any other language you've read beore, yet it seemed readable.

Gently, your lips started to pronounce the syllable that the rune represented.

And you suddenly woke up from your trance, with your hands feeling burnt, and a charred blastmark on the floor besides you.

"S-Shujin?" a female voice called, frightened, but you could notice the tone of concern.

You looked up from the blastmark, and saw a buxom burnette, looking at you with slightly narrowed eyes and a leaned back head.

"How... What?" she uttered.

You look back to her in amazement. What was all of this.

"Who are you?" you wonder.

"Yama Kyoko." she replies, in a stale way. "Your #2. Remember? I don't like it when you joke with that, Shujin."

"What was that blast from before?" she adds. "How... What was that?"

You sat again, and started to relax.

Slowly, you could feel yourself submerge into that world again. It felt smoother now. This time was more deliberate after all.

It was all a blur, yet clear. It was an uncanny feeling. It felt so alien and foreign to be "here" - wherever "here" was, but it was within your own psyche.

And there it was, that branding. That inscription.

The last time you read it, the accident happened.

This time, you wouldn't make that mistake.

Gently, you let yourself "float" back to the surface, back to your regular consciousness, and you awoke, opening your eyes to see Kyoko again.

"So, how did I do?" you asked.

"Well, nothing happened." she shrugged.

Ah, awesome. You grinned. As long as you didn't think about that rune that said -

"Shujin!" Kyoko yelped. "It's happening!"

"What?" you muttered. Then, you looked at your hands. They were laced in a faint, red glow, and they felt warm, and toasty - and the temperature was rising into something uncomfortable.

You tried to stop thinking about the rune, but the more you didn't want to think of it, the more you thought of it! And the worse the heat became!

It had started to become dark, and none of the lights inside the school seemed to have turned on. You walked over to the roof's edge, noticing that you couldn't see too far beyond the school grounds either due to the lack of illumination - the street lights didn't seem to go on either.

She looked at you with a furrowed brow. "You really don't remember anything..."

While still looking over the darkened town, you shook your head.

"Well." she started. "Everything... Got attacked, by, well. Monsters. And stuff."

She started to slowly whip up air with her hands, as if she was looking for the right words in the air.

"These... Things, you know. Horrible things. Killing people, attacking everything." she added. "It's like in the movies, the end of the world, you know? But with these things."

You rose an eyebrow. It all sounded insane, but then again, it wouldn't be the first crazy thing to happen to you today.

"We should get inside." Kyoko then said, looking around. "They tend t-"

You could then feel a thump on the floor. Then another.

Kyoko's breathing started to quicken. "It's here." she whispered.
