You walk out of your cover and into what little light there is in the small clearing, you’re still in your gym clothes from jogging, and the cool air is starting to be a bit uncomfortable. The boy’s eyes widen a bit as he sees you, you bet he was expecting someone more… well, someone who looks like a monster. Certainly not an incredibly tall and well-muscled Asian girl.

“An Ogress?” One asks “No, no Ogre magic would be powerful enough to dispel our glamour.” Replies another Faerie. “Maybe she’s troll blooded?” Says the third, some murmurs of agreement come from the other two.

“What do you want, monster?” Asks the leader, you’re really tired of them calling you that. The boy at this point is trying, unsuccessfully, to creep back silently. His knuckles are extremely white from holding the black chain he was using to fend them off. Black chain… IRON! Of course, he was using iron to fend them off.

If I had more free time I'd try and make some pastebins for you guys, stats and bios and maybe some skills and XP. But life is busy right now.

“What’s going on here?” You ask the faerie gang members. Why would 4 faeries from such a prolific gang attack, what looks like, a normal nerdy guy? It doesn’t really add up, unless you’re missing something.

“We’re trying to reclaim what is ours, the specifics shouldn’t matter to you.” The leader tells you in a voice that you’d reserve for children or the mentally ill. She’s really starting to piss you off, your hands are starting clench and un-clench on their own. Maybe you didn’t burn off as much adrenaline as you thought? Or maybe you just want to punch her in her smug mouth, yeah that’s probably it.

“Apologies if this is your territory, troll-blood.” One of the mook faeries says “We’ll be out of your hair as soon as we deal with the human.” Great, they’ve already assumed you’re a troll, fucking racist faeries. They still haven’t explained what they’ll do to the guy, and they’ve already started moving to surround you.

They've got magic up to prevent the boy from escaping. They've partially claimed part of this forest as a Fae domain, which is pissing the local spirits off quite a bit.

“Nah, the ‘Specifics don’t matter’ isn’t going to cut it Tinkerbell.” You tell the faerie one of the other faeries stifles a laugh as the leader glares at him (her?). “You’re going to tell me exactly why you want that kid, and you’re going to tell me now, otherwise we’re going to have a disagreement. With our fists.”

“We know you meant a fight.” Says the trying not to laugh faerie.

“Shut up.” You growl back to him. The Head faerie at this point is pinching the base of her nose.

“Alright you want to die so badly? We’ll oblige you, fucking troll.” She states, the exasperation of her predicament clear in her voice. At this point both the kid and the chuckling faerie are trying hard not to laugh.

“I’m not a fucking Troll, racist.” You yell back at her, she doesn’t even respond, she just runs at you with a black glove covered hand raised at you.

We're gonna punch every one of them that laughed at us, including the kid.

The head faerie lunges at you with a speed no human could match, good thing you’re not human. You side-step her in an attempt to dodge, but after you move she quickly kicks you in the gut. You try to retaliate but she’s already danced away. Fuck, she’s actually good. Two other faeries moving in unison try a similar trick, but you’re ready for it this time. You take one of the mook’s punches head on, wile the other one kicks at your shin. Tanking both hits you wrap the first faerie up with your arms and put him in a sleeper hold. He struggles for a bit as the other faerie dances out of your range. The captured faerie passes out fairly quickly and you drop him to the ground. The blows that they landed on you are barely more than an annoyance, your skin is supernaturally tough and you can regenerate from most things fairly quickly.

You get a tingling in the back of your mind, but it comes too late, the fourth faerie rushes you from behind and stabs something into your back. You reach around to punch him but he’s already back-flipped away, show off. The pain in your back is tolerable and the wound isn’t deep, but getting stabbed fucking HURTS. The worst part is you’re going to have to explain why you’ve got blood on your clothes to your mom, that’s going to suuuuuck. You rip the knife(?) out of your back and quickly look at it, it’s made of what looks like some sort of black glass. You tense up the muscles in your back to stop the bleeding, and you start to feel the wound knit itself back together. If you had been human that would most likely have nicked your kidney, it’s a good thing an Oni’s skin and muscles are thick. You were right, this is FUN. You smile at the three remaining faeries who have grouped back up. You twirl the glass in your hands and hold it in a reverse grip.

They probably shouldn’t have given you a weapon.

Can we learn a bit more about the ins and outs of what an oni actually is in this setting and what that means to us?

Most of that will be revealed with time, I will however tell you what Amy learned from grandfather.

An Oni is the Japanese take on an Ogre, a large brutish humanoid. However Oni are rarer, at least in the west and have an elemental aspect that they're born with. Yours is metal, which means that Oni magic come somewhat instinctive to you as does weapon fighting. All Oni are incredibly strong and resilient, they can regenerate from most wounds and can accelerate that healing by drinking alcohol(typically sake however anything will work).
Oni were created to be servants, and they can pledge themselves to a person worthy enough to be their lord, or they can be forcibly "chained" into service.

Besides, pepper only works when ingested, inhales or applied to the eyes. Naked flames are far more flexible.

These guys may be faeries, but they’re still no match for you, even in human form. Still grinning you beckon the fae forward with your free hand. Boss faerie takes offense to that, and rushes you down with her two flunkies.

One flunky advances quickly, breaking off from the group. It’s the fucker who stabbed you, he pulls out another knife and starts swinging it at you. With basically no time before the others get here, you let him cut you across your abs, as he tries to pull back you grab his arm and stab your knife through his shoulder. As he takes a moment to contemplate his pain, you kick him in the chest and send him sprawling. Grabbing his other knife out of the air, you use it to defend yourself from the other faerie’s attacks. These two don’t seem to have any weapons, except for the boss’s strange leather gloves. After seeing their partner go down the faeries increase the velocity of their attacks, many of their punches get through and make it to where you can’t return with an equal amount of force. However this has turned into a brawl and the fae, while incredibly fast and nimble, don’t have the same stamina you do. Boss faerie realizes this and drops back while her flunky keeps fighting you. Out of the corner of your eye you see her go after the boy, who’s desperately fending her off with the chain. You don’t know how long he has.

Shit, shit, shit. How’re you going to get to the kid in time to help him with this guy still in your way? Oh, that’s fucking GENIUS! You step into the faeries next swing, taking a hit to the jaw, the cut in your mouth from earlier re-opening a bit. You throw your arms around the mook and start to squeeze, he’s squirming way too much. You fix that by pummeling the writing fae with body blows, that stops him. Re-positioning him from under your arms, you lift him by the fancy leather jacket and THROW him at his boss. The faerie projectile moves with astonishing speed as it collides with the boss’s back throwing her into the kid.

You run over to where the pile of bodies is laying, and groaning. You heft the mook faerie out of the pile freeing the kid. He looks up at you, breathing heavy.
“T-thanks, if you hadn’t shown up, I dunno what would’ve happened to me.”

“Ain’t a big deal kid, I just came over here to see what was making those weird noises.” You say shrugging off his thanks. Still he keeps that look of admiration his face as he shakily gets up. “What the hell did you take from them anyway?” You ask him, he looks around a bit and moves in to whisper to you.

“Well, it’s not a thing per-say, it’s-.” You quickly cut him off by covering his mouth with your hand.

There was even an explosion at a restaurant and the apartments above it a few years back when the building manager added one too many illegal feeds from the gas main to fuel his tenants' gas stoves.

The tingling in your head comes back, much stronger this time. You push the kid out of the way as the head faerie leaps at you, black chain in hand. How the fuck is she even holding it? THE GLOVES! Her black gloves must let her handle iron, all of this rushes through your mind as you try to fend her off with the knife. You’re doing a decent job to, before she throws something at your face. Ugh, tastes like magic. You’re only blinded for second before the void dissipates the magic, but those few seconds are all the supernaturally quick faerie needs. She rushes behind you moving as sinuously as a serpent and leaps onto your back. The black chain in her hand wraps itself around your throat, she’s trying to fucking strangle you! You gasp as it tightens around your neck, but if that pixie bitch thinks that’s all it will take to put you down she’s wrong.

Dead wrong

You slam your elbows into her back, over and over again. But she refuses to let go. Growling, you grab her arms and forcibly twist her around to your front. You punch her in the diaphragm once, before leaping with all your might. You get the lowest tree branches before gravity calls you back down, you position the fae under you as you crash back to the earth, your landing actually managed to make a small impression in the ground. The boss fae is down, however the chain is still somehow choking you out without her holding it. You’re running out of air and you can’t reach around properly to remove it.

Okay, breathe-well maybe not breathe considering you’re being strangled by a magic chain-and focus. You clear all the thoughts from your head, and all the emotions you’ve been feeling. Elation, anger and joy all disappear as you peer through the void. The magic on the chain is definitely fae, but not. Faerie magic usually can’t affect iron, so how could she… Ah, there it is, witch magic. Those gloves that let her touch iron were made by a witch, they must also let faeries work magic into iron. The enchantment on the chains is a very simple one, all it does is squeeze what it’s attached you. The problem is in your state of running out of oxygen, and being in human form. Another problem is the sheer amount of magic that fae poured into the chain, you could maybe break it in Oni form, or you could get the kid to help you take it off.

Okay so you’ve got two options, you can try and brute force the chain off in Oni form, or you can get the person who can actually reach the chain to help out. You’re gonna go with the option that doesn’t reveal your true nature to a complete stranger.
