Domesticate animals to have a new source of wealth into the clan, one that's not dominated by Mesut, We don't specifically need to control the meat distribution, it can be the settled herders, but it's important that the wealth is distributed and not centered on a single family.

Get the fucking talks with the strangers started and start inviting them to live with us, I prefer we do this unification thing in this lifetime thank you, Don't forget to seek the stranger leader that we gave the spear to, we honored him greatly with that gift and he will be more welcome to our words.

A smaller crowd than last year accompanies you for the winter ceremony. It seems the appearance of the gods last year scared off many of the clan, but a handful of the curious attend in the hopes of seeing something miraculous. Sadly, they are mildly disappointed. At the zenith of the ceremony, as you ask the heavenly gods for their guidance and support in the new year, a strange light fills the area and the whispers of the congregation behind you tell you that the gods have indeed made their presence known, if not through such obvious methods as the year before. The true miracle this year, comes during the gift-giving that follows.

Elia, accompanied by yourself, Beren and Galit, laboriously carries the stone, as long as his forearm and a span and a half wide and wrapped in a soft, scraped goatskin. He places it carefully on the altar stone and pulls the covering away, revealing the gleaming white limestone, roughly carved into the figure of a winged woman that you presume is Rhea. As Elia and his wife join hands and kneel, you say a few words on their behalf, appealing to the gods to see their piety and grant their wish. The cold hilltop remains quiet and lonely, until the four of you turn to walk home. Perhaps more is required to please Rhea sufficiently to grant your brother and his wife their miracle.

As you turn to go however, all of you feel a gentle touch on your shoulder... As Galit looks back, she shrieks in surprise, soon joined by Elia's cry of joy and then... The distinctive sound of a baby's surprised scream.

Left at the altar, wrapped in an unfamiliar blanket, is a small, smiling child.

The bitter winter is the worst time to be a herdsman, according to the herders in your village. It's better than being a nomad at least. Here they have had a chance to make themselves a warm home and more importantly, to lay in supplies over the year and get the goats a warm and safe place to wait out the winter. They do their best to impress upon you and the other few who have caught onto the wisdom of keeping animals, the necessity to gather as much feed as possible for the livestock, as well as a little extra, just in case of a disaster, like a leaky roof spoiling the hay. That also explains why they spent so much time during the year drying out grass, while the rest of the tribe thought them slightly mad (no-one needs THAT much for their bedding, after all!)

Their concerns at keeping the feed for the animals dry also reminds you that you're now starting to harvest more grain than you can reasonably store... Well, besides that, you think you're starting to get the hang of caring for the damn animals now, even if the finer points of making them obey you still elude you. At least wolves had a natural tendency to follow their alpha!

The seasons have turned again and the world is starting to warm up. It is now early spring. What will you do?

Work begins on the shrine that Tengr demanded of your people. While at first there is general resentment among the tribe of building something for a god that's essentially extorting you, the grumbling fades as they realise the enormity of what they are undertaking. Other gods have had small, meager altars in the past, but the shrine to Tengr is something else entirely. A pair of small, partially enclosed shacks stand flanking a circle of pillars the height of a man, surrounding a central totem pole that stands twice as tall and with branches coming from it, hung with bone wind chimes and the feathers of birds. Though it is not yet complete, it is an impressive sight that fills the tribe with pride.

Many of the tribe begin talking of the majesty of Tengr, looking upwards more often and discussing his might relative to the other Gods of the Wild.

Many options present themselves as tempting in the new year. With animal keeping growing more and more popular among the tribe, plenty of families are snatching the opportunity to trade for goats as fast as the nomads can breed and sell them! Soon nearly every family will have at least two or three females, with a male every two or three families; more than enough to grow the small population over a few years. Before you put your focus into that however, you realise you have a prior commitment to attend to.

It doesn't take too much longer. The small open-sided shelters are finished, the ring completed and the altar put in place. You personally bless the shrine to Tengr before a gathering of the tribe. One of the herders surprises you however. He brings forth the same fucking bully-goat that put you on your ass when you started learning and grins, handing you a flint knife. Among his people, who routinely take the lives of their herd to feed themselves, this act in itself is sacred. A human is the boundary between life and death for the herd and consequently, for humans too. That life is a powerful thing, even from a creature as meager as a goat. They have already established a tradition of offering life to Maar, the bull god. He asks if you will do the same for Tengr
