The room is dark, save for the faint lights from the outside city pouring in through the window. Akikazu sits on his bed, knees curled up to his chest, listening to the silence. The boy is quiet, almost calm. There is nothing to suggest that he is the aggressive, brash and infamous ‘delinquent’ of Akumachi-Kirijo Academy.

A siren, presumably from a police car, wails in the distance. Akikazu opens his eyes, blinking twice to adjust to the gloom. Idly, as boys do when they have nothing particular their minds, he glances around his bedroom. It’s decently sized, but nothing extravagant. There’s wardrobe for clothes, a bedside drawer, the waterbed he’s lying on and a small desk. On the desk is his unfinished maths homework, a few pieces of stationary littered like pebbles on an otherwise smooth beach and a half-eaten spot. There is also an empty spot where something should be. Now, it’s nothing. Or so he wishes, as he did when he locked the object away. That space won’t ever be nothing, because whenever Akikazu looks at it, while doing his homework, procrastinating or whatever, he’ll remember.

Then he’ll clench his fists, his nails digging into his flesh like tiny iron hooks. He’ll feel like spitting verbal bile into the open air. You know, just like the way he’s inclined to right now.

He doesn’t though. His situation has changed.. There is more important work to be done.

“What the hell am I thinking…”

He snorts, a grunt of dismissal, then throws himself off the bed. He tosses his jacket into a nearby closet.

He lies down on the floor, teeth gritted as to not taste the carpet.

He starts doing his push-ups.

So, I've got a bad news sandwich on a bun of freshly baked good news.

The first slice of good news is that the next part of the smut is proceeding filthily and steadily.

The meaty, juicy bad news, topped with a slice of gooey, melted cheese, is that it's not QUITE ready to be posted just yet.

You are eating lunch with Celeste and Akikazu in the academy cafeteria. The air is filled with the scent of assorted proteins and carbohydrates and the queue is raucous with laughter. Same, as usual then. Good thing the three of you found a deserted little spot in the corner of the room.

“Hey, you two.” Celeste begins the conversation. “If all modern technology disappeared from the world overnight, what would you miss the most?”

“Why ask?” You say, half-way into scooping up a chunk of dry rice from your lunch box.

“I’m a little curious.” She replies. “Some guy on the radio was talking about it last night.”

You contemplate this. “Baking machines. As far as I’m concerned, the way they make fresh bread is magic and I never want it to go away.”

“That’s oddly specific.” Celeste says. “Me…I’d miss showers and washing machines the most. As well as general lighting.”

Akikazu grunts. “The fucking plumbing.”

“Shit, I forgot about that.” You groan. “Damn, I wouldn’t know what to do in a world without flushing or toilet paper.”

“And I think you should shut up because we’re eating right now.”

“You’re the one who brought it up, Akikazu!”

“A world without modern technology…” Celeste muses. “Isn’t that basically the Blackened Void?”

Lunch passes in an orderly fashion. You make small conversation with your friends. Once your lunch box has been stripped off rice and emptied of meat, you stand up from your chair.

“Where are you going?” Celeste asks.

“I said I would help Takauji and Kanami study in the library. See you guys in class.”

You set off down the hallways of the academy. A myriad of different things pass through your mind. Homework, Personas, mission timers and whether or not investing his snacks after school is a good idea. You find yourself in an empty corridor, close to the administration office. About a third of the way down it, a girl with a brown hair exits from a classroom. She paces around the area for a bit, before noticing you.

“Excuse me!” she calls out, running up to you.

You don’t think you’ve ever seen her before. She’s either in a different class or year level.

“You’re from FALCO House, correct?” she asks. “May I have a moment of your time?”

“Sure,” You say. “What is it?”

“It’s nothing really. Just a quick check for the books. Could you please come this way?” The girl gestures over to an empty classroom. With all the shutters down and no other exit in sight. You stroll in there and let the girl shut the door. It slides into place with a loud and resounding ‘thunk’, as great as a note from the trumpet signalling the apocalypse.

In retrospect, this may have not been the best of ideas. Three different figures slink out of the shadows, each one equipped various pieces of stationery. All girls, all of them with cold eyes or menacing sneers. It dawns on you that you’ve just walked into a trap. Your senses tingle. These girls all seem more powerful than you. You turn around and see that the door is blocked off by the very same girl who led you into here.

“Takashi Wakui, I believe?” She smiles, her voice as sweet as honey and as poisonous as arsenic. “Welcome to our little get-together. Please take a seat. Our onee-sama would like to have a few words with you.”

You don’t move. Instead, you size up the options available in your mind.

“Oh, and don’t and try and run. We have considerably more influence over this academy than you. If you try and disobey us, you’ll find that your school life will become a lot more…unpleasant.”

“Please. Any one of us would destroy you within seconds, never mind our onee-sama.” The girl chuckles, her voice echoing around the darkened, silent classroom. “Luckily for you, our goal today isn’t violence. It’s merely to have a talk. Now, then, if you will…”

You are forced into an empty seat. The girls, four in total, surrounding you in a circle. You eye a pair of scissors in the hands of one. Another is carrying a compass. Presumably they are there because real weapons are prohibited on campus. This would normally be a funny situation, if it weren’t for the fact that it’s happening to you.

A fifth girl appears, sitting cross-legged on the edge of the table in front of you. Tall, slender, long-black hair, arms-crossed and with a distasteful expression on her otherwise pretty face, as if she is staring down at a pile of garbage. Her gazes travels up and down your body. Her frown deepens.

“I take it you’re the boss?” You say, breaking the silence.

“My name is Sae Katsukawa.” The girl announces, her voice soft like silk and sharp as steel. “So this is the rumoured Takashi Wakui? How very droll you seem.”

“Thanks for the compliment.” You quip.

"Watch your tongue." A girl from behind you hisses."

"Quiet, Manami." The girl in front of you orders. The girl behind you immediately silences herself.

“Npw then, let’s keep this straightforward, as I have a schedule to attend to.” Sae Katsukawa continues, as if she hadn’t heard you at all. “It has come to my, and a great deal of others, attention that you have been seen with Akikazu Osaragi. I’ll make this clear. It would be of great advantage to you if you stopped doing that immediately.”

“And why is that?”

“His reputation begs to differ. Well, I wouldn’t expect a newcomer to know.” Sae glares at you. “You’ve made quite a ruckus among the second-years, little upstart. So as senpai to kouhai, I’ll teach you a useful lesson.”

“I’m so grateful.” You growl.

“This school has a power balance in place. Don’t stick your nose where it doesn’t belong. Leave Akikazu Osaragi’s side. This is your only warning.”

“You better listen.” Another of Sae’s flunkies mutters. “You don’t want to know what onee-sama does to people she doesn’t like.”

“I get it.” You eventually say.

The temperature in the room plummets. The tension, on the other hand, rises as quickly as the brimstone bursting from the bowels of a volcano. The sharp instruments wielded by Sae's minions now seem a lot closer to your skin.

“Excuse me?” Sae Katsukawa hisses. If words could kill, you would’ve been massacred to the point where a dozen Samarecarm spells couldn’t revive you.

“You heard me.” You reply. Something is bubbling deep within your soul. It’s frigid as the Arctic wastes, yet it’s searing with an energy that refuses to die down. It whips and lashes around like a maddened serpent, filling your bones with the strength to look at the adversary in front of you straight in the eye. “You don’t know shit. “I wouldn’t be averse to it, Miss President.” Sae says. But there’s a hint of uncertainty in her voice, as if she couldn't predict where this conversation was going.

“But you seem like a good student. Akumachi-Kirijo is happy to have you. Having said that…”

Then Eriko reaches into her pocket and takes out her smartphone. She presses it and voices begin to emerge from the speakers. Yours and Sae’s, along with her minions. A tinny rendition of the entire conversation from the moment Sae spoke to you to when she announced her departure plays out from the phone. Every word, every threat from Sae, every piece of your retaliation hangs in the air like a foul smell.

The temperature falls another few precious notches. You look back at Sae Katsukawa. She has gone as white as a ghost, a horrified look frozen on her features, as if someone had just pelted her with a thousand Bufudynes.

Eriko smiles.

“How?” One of Sae Katsukawa’s flunkies cries. All too sudden, she realizes the implications of her statement, and slams her hands over her mouth. It is far too late. Her friends glare venomously at her, and Eriko nods her head at the confirmation.

“I was standing here the entire time, concealing my presence.” Eriko explains, as pleasant as a kindergarten teacher teaching her kids how to spell. “You never noticed.”

Sae is still too shocked to speak. You focus your attention on Eriko. Then you gulp. She isn’t talking or even looking in your direction, but you still feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

Eriko Ozaki, the student council president, is smiling. Her posture is casual, relaxed. If you took a photo of her and showed it to someone outside the school, the reaction would be that this girl is having a good day. However, you know better. It’s happened before. A dark, dreadful aura surrounds Eriko like tar coating a torture victim, ready to be set alight. You saw it on kaa-san when drunks insulted her husband. You saw it on Shizuka when she found you being shaken down for lunch money by a pack of bullies.

Eriko may not look like it. Indeed, she’s doing an excellent job of hiding it. But, you know. Everyone in the room does.

This girl is extremely angry.

“So, what offences have you committed with your friends, Katsukawa?” Eriko says, pausing to look down onto her phone. “Let’s see…slander, lying to an authority figure, blackmail, threatening the social lives of not one, not two but three students…oh, can’t forget threats of physical assault, too. The girl holding said instrument flinches, then hides it behind her back.

If this classroom had a thermometer, then it would have long since turned to ice. The overwhelming presence grows in volume, snaking across the walls and strangling the five girls in its icy, black tendrils. Eriko closes her eyes and reopens them. They are now pitch-black and devoid of mercy. She speaks again, every word sounding like gentle hiss of the scythe swung by Death. “May. I. Have. Your. Student. Cards. Please?”

There is nothing the girls can do. With a resignation reserved for terminally ill patients before the plug is pulled, they hand over their cards. Eriko records their numbers and puts her phone back into her pocket.

“Right, then! The request has been processed. You will head over to the Detention Hall after school. I’m sure Anschuetz-sensei would be very pleased to have you. Run along, now, and let this be a reminder that under no circumstances is bullying allowed at this academy.”

“Yes, Eriko-sama…”

The girls trudge out of the room. Sae Katsukawa is at the tail. At the last second, she turns to glares at you. It is a look with the toxicity of a thousand Poisma spells, and the intensity of a dozen Megidoloans.

“This isn’t over.”

…so the glare says.

Devil Summoner London. It was based off the original SMT series compared to this game which is based off of persona. For something that's like 60-70+ threads, it was really good and was a fun trip through.

“That’s true.” Eriko frowns, which doesn’t last very long. “I know! You can visit me in the student council room after school. I don’t have any meetings today, so it should be okay. It’s on the third floor. See you there!”

And that’s that. Eriko waves goodbye to you. You set off for the library, your body still feeling a bit numb with shock. The moment you reach the library doors, the bell rings, causing you to groan, spin on your heel and head in the opposite direction. The corridors are now crowded with students rushing back to their classrooms. In the midst of the din, you hear someone call your name.

“Takashi!” It’s Takauji and Kanami is by his side. “Where the hell were you?”

“We had to start without you.” Kanami says. “Did something happen.

“You could say that.” You reply, placing a hand on your forehead.

“Seriously? Spill the details, man.” Takauji grins, looking a little eager.
