We've taken this and fluffed them out as Hong Kong cyberpunk helghast. Descendants the crew of a gigantic mining vessel that crashed on an inhospitable planet and survived despite it all. They are extremophiles, proud, (literally) bright, and consummate bug hunters. They are the Exterminators.

So feel free to join in and provide fluff, images or whatever you'd like. This belongs to /tg/

That would make sense, to the gang members the gang would be like a second family.

By the way, do we have anything about entertainment in the lower levels?
Although gambling in HK is pretty limited, I could see it being a big thing in HY (the equivalent of horse racing would probably be…hmm, tyranid racings?)

Something similar to Mahjong as well perhaps, since the Mahjong parlours in the past are often associated with the triads

>>45493167
gambling is absolutely rampant, as well as what entertainment trickles down from the upper hive

a lot of media and electronics is produced up in the entertainment district and (despite everything) the lower hives do have the power to potentially watch some of the vids made above or use some of the oft bizarre gadgets

also >>45487345
there's that to fill your very very illegal tyranid gambling itch
>>
>>45493144
So what do you think about those not!Shaolin monks from the Jade Fire Sect?

>>45492396
>>45492469
>>45492478
>>45492621

Will these do, or do they require more polishing and alteration?
>>
>>45493218
instead of having the monks use green flamers (violating that whole no arms rule), simply have them burn green torches as part of their unique form of worship

funnily enough, the mechanicus get along smashingly with them, despite the differing religions

they appreciate the stoicness and discipline
and share their taste for incense

also, I'm going to work on that flag
>>
>>45493242
>instead of having the monks use green flamers (violating that whole no arms rule), simply have them burn green torches as part of their unique form of worship

Well that's much better and logical than I thought.

Also will wait for that flag.
>>
>>45493218
Personally I'd go for something less cliche than Shaolin, but to each their own.

Tai Chi is arguably the most practised martial arts in HK, but usually among older people as a means for exercising
>>
>>45493274
Maybe they'd include a multitude of various fighting styles and the sect itself is divided between various sub-sects that practice different types of martial arts, ranging from the more aggressive to ones that are about using the enemy's power against them.

By the way, dragon dancing doesn't show up all that often in HK.

When it comes to traditional celebrations, lion-dancing is much more common
>>
>>45493287

Well that formatted horribly.

Working on the Standard kit later.
>>
>>45493288
Yeah that'll make sense, martial arts is much more than just Shaolin.

There might be some arguments about which approach is the better one, but all hostilities are put aside when they need to get shit done.
>>
>>45493218
Maybe a little too blatant with the whole shaolin theme
>>
>>45493291
Not tyranid dancing?
>>
>>45493348
Agreed on that. Also the names of the fighting styles would be quite sweet for them. Needing to work on them then.

>>45493371
Covered here. They are more than just Shaolin and have many fighting styles.
>>
>>45493308
>>45493144

Hopefully this is better formated cause that last one was garbage.

Light Carapace? Or Full Flak armor.
And
Lasgun, or Lascarbine?
>>
>>45493390
I'd go lascarbine
>>
>>45493390
Daaaamn. This is really good
>>
>>45493380
Could work

Alas despite me being a drawfag I couldn't draw one of those chinese lion heads. They'll look stylized anyways.

Likewise it'll be two guys hiding under a head and tarp jumping around and doing acrobatics. Youtube should have some videos to demonstrate how lion-dancing looks like.

On a side note, check out the Tiger Balm Gardens.
>>
>>45493387
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_martial_arts

Good luck, I'll see you in a week.

The southern styles would be more likely, because geography.
>>
>>45493414
>>45493425

Awesome! I'll assume we'll go with The light carapace suit because it's objectively better than the flak suit.

Right! Yall make up a wish list of gear for the standard regimental kit.

From side arms to toilet pap- I mean extra copies of the Imperial guard handbook.
>>
>>45493446
They don't have to be lions, they could be local fauna, like those giant centipedes discussed previously. Centipede dancing anyone? Also, grotesque images based on tyranid bioforms that were encountered during the hive war.

Would be interesting to have them use a zodiac based on 40k fauna. Year of the centipede, year of the grox, year of the lictor...

Similarly, as >>45493371 said, we don't need them to have any similarities with actual fighting styles. Just say it's a form of CQC combat and excercise routine that was developed in the cramped quarters of the original ship that crashed on Hua Yuan, and that it became a tradition practiced by Ecclesiarchal devouts on the planet.
>>
>>45493380
>>45493446
I don't think we should try and incorporate the Tyranids into Hua Yuan culture. They are already dancing on the edge of heretical behavior, I feel having tyranids feature in their traditions would be a bridge too far.

I think the only folks that would fuck around with nids are the Stealers cultists. With the cultists they can hook up Ripper dog fights, Ravner race tracks, Genestealer gladiator matches, you name it, because the Hive Mind will still have a tenuous presence in the city.
>>
In the last thread we touched on a five minute response squad, and an armored squad per platoon. Maybe we can flesh these guys out more, what tactics and equipment they use, what they're like, ect
>>
>>45493529
I only meant tyranid dancing as possibly a way to commemorate some bug battle they had, maybe have a little play of how it went down, but in a more legend type presentation
>>
>>45493516
I have to admit I'm not well-versed in 40k lore so what kinds of fauna would you suggest?

Centipedes for dragon-dancing sounds doable, but really it's just one guy swinging the head around while a bunch of other guys carry the body, all of such mounted on sticks.

Lion-dancing is a lot more interesting+skill-requiring if you ask me.
>>
>>45493557
Perhaps a performance mimicking a physical battle between a guardsman and a tyranid, symbolizing the triumph of humans over the nids?
>>
>>45493562
We haven't really fluffed out the local wildlife, so that would be interesting to ponder. Maybe there's some kind of local predator that would be impressive to people and incorporated into the festival. I imagine a lot of creatures were killed or assimilated by the tyranid invasion so if there was an apex predator that survived that it would get a lot of respect and seen as a symbol of hardiness and resistance.
>>
>>45493603
I like that shit.

Tyrannid shell costumes made from their conquests could feature.

Is tyrannid meat edible?
>>
>>45493631
Jesus christ guy, slow up with the heresy.

However that would align with the Chinese tradition of eating shit like tiger tail...

I would say that Nid meat is very unedible. Orks could probs get away with eating a ripper, but anything less than an ogryn would die, I feel.
>>
>>45493611
Fuck that reminds me, the Lion Rock Spirit is a core value in HK culture, something about perservence, hard work and solidarity.

The term stemmed from the Lion Rock Hill (apparently the rock formation looks like a male lion watching over HK)

Maybe HY can use an animal to represent their values in a similar way, who knows.
>>
>>45493656
>>45493631

Eating 'nid meat is a nice local heresy that could be a way for genestealer cults to recruit through shady meat sellers in the underhive. Since meat is valuable there, you could get people hooked on 'nid meat and induct them into the cult or just have unwitting people protecting their "benefactor" that's giving out free or cheap meat. I can see a potential Dark Heresy mystery or a plot for a 40k Hong Kong action movie starring a dynamic duo of Arbiters and maybe one of our previously discussed monks blowing the lid off a conspiracy.
>>
>>45493708
You've won me over anon. I think the Brood would definitely start adapting the rippers and gaunts to edible, tasty even.

Also the whole "exploring forbidden" tastes thing is very Slanneshi, and fits in very well with the Genestealer cult.
>>
>>45493708
Speaking of food, how would the local cuisine fare?

I'd reckon the lower levels would be pretty good in making what little "food" they would dig up more or less edible, but the middle and upper levels would have stuff that's a lot more palatable.

I am pretty proud of the cuisine in my home city, shush

Herbal medicine would be a thing, both to cure aliments and to strengthen the body. (don't worry too much about what can and cannot go into those, herbal medicine can include things like cicada shells, dried seahorse and ochre)
>>
>>45493779
I'm feeling a lot of fish. Maybe there's a fishfarming district back where the old fuel tanks on the ship were.

I can see them now. Jaded and bitter Arbitrator-Detective Lho (that's not his real name, he just smokes a lot of lho sticks), fresh-faced rookie verispex Yau who still has much to learn about the way things work in the underhive, and local shrine keeper and permanent drunk Shu who grew up together with the local gang leaders and can get the Arbiters through their territories with ease. Together they kick the shit out of Genestealers and their hangers-on in Underhive Sub-District Yuan Five.

Eating 'nid meat is liable to get you horrible fucking parasite diseases, assuming you aren't allergic to it or it isn't full of toxins.

Again guys, try not to stuff every idea you have into this. So many /tg/ projects end up bloating with special snowflake new and unique things to the point the original good idea gets lost.
>>
>>45493810
Very much yes, we used to be a fishing village before the Brits showed up and we've got a lot of seafood.

It's not just fish though, things like crabs, shrimp and clams are pretty common too. I won't be surprised if they manage to find a way to raise those in the tanks
>>
>>45493866
>Eating 'nid meat is liable to get you horrible fucking parasite diseases, assuming you aren't allergic to it or it isn't full of toxins.

Hence why I mentioned it's a local HERESY that is the entry point into GENESTEALER CULTISM.
>>
>>45493863
flamers are a really bad idea around these parts

I know not caring about civilian casualties is a constant in 40k, but you can't just start a fire at the base of your own house, destroying all of your own property
>>
>>45493868
How about a shellfish-fish, that's like a mix between lobster and carp. And then the shrimp equivalent is a bottom feeder that cleans out the fishfarms while being grown themselves
>>
>>45493860
I foresee a copious amount of dual wielding bolt pistols and jumping through the air whilst firing.

>>45493708
Consider the following:

Street hawkers.
They're illegal nowadays but used to be very common in HK, stuff like fishballs and other meats in skewers, dried squid, things like that.

Maybe some of the hawkers would sell nid meat that way, hanging on the fact that people don't question what actually goes into those snacks.
>>
>>45493902
They could sell the meat under the guise of a different kind of meat to try and circumvent the arbites
>>
>>45493914
Exactly what I'm thinking.

These hawkers IRL were already seen as questionable hygiene-wise so this sounds about right for a more 40k flavour

Any animals are going to be stuff colonists brought with them, willingly or unwillingly (a few pets, pests, meat sources). Given the hardship and very limited resources, only the hardiest critters are going to survive. Space, light, air and food are an enormous priority. This place is stuffed to the gills with people all over everywhere. Any food that isn't imported is going to need to be grown as efficiently as possible to get the maximum amount of nutrients from the minimum possible space. That could lead to quite a lot of insects being eaten for protein, industrial algae farms under artificial lights, creatures like shellfish and oysters growing in dirty water (and likely a source of disease and dysentery in their own right). Cockroaches are a good pest, and potentially mutant breeds could be a low-tier enemy. Its possible that some specially bred breeds of arthropod could have been introduced for pest control and as a source of protein - there's quite a lot of edible insects, not even counting things like lobster and crayfish. Its possible that something like a centipede was brought in to go after the vermin and has good eating. The venom could also be a source of poisons and hallucinogens and the iridescent shells for dyes like cochineal.

There may also be some alien species that are native to the planet, but let’s not get too crazy there.

I get that, but unless you're part tyranid yourself eating 'nid meat is a really good way to get your insides devoured by hideous micropredators. There's adaptations to the 'nid life form that have been noted to attack Ork spores, you sure as hell don't want that added to your intestinal microflora.

Came up with some:
>特立獨行的風拳頭 (Hua Yuan Maverick Fist)
Highly unpredictable and hard to anticipate low stance fighting style that resolves around fast movements and feinting hits in order to strike unprotected body parts by fooling the enemy to protect those that the user didn't aim for.

>平靜的憤怒立場 (Calm Anger Stance)
A style that combines brute force with focus, as well as a combination of anger and calmness. It incorporates a low stance combined with extensive handwork which can catch strong enemies off guard by how powerful the hits can be. Masters of this martial art can punch holes in lesser creatures while larger ones will be lucky if they end up disarmed while their internal organs are crushed.

>皇帝七拳頭樣式 (Emperor Seven Fist Style)
Rumored to have been shown in a vision from the Emperor to the first master of this fighting style, the Emperor Seven Fist Style incorporates seven different styles. (Immortal Fist). Each one is said to incorporate a small portion of the Emperor's power, yet this is wildly questioned by many Imperial scholars and Inquisitors. On the other hand chaos daemons seem to instinctively avoid those who mastered this fighting style.

>>45493829
Sweet. Already liking it.

>>45493863
Don't worry. We can make it so that the monks also include girls. On the other hand they are forbidden from any sexual things under the threat of severe punishment. Oh, and the girls need to cut their hair either to complete baldness or very short.

Really, in terms of showing how Emperor-damned rich you are, space and privacy are probably more important. Conspicuous consumption by wasting space and oxygen. Look, we have an entry hall! Ooh, private bedrooms! Holy god-damned shit en suite bathrooms!!!
>>
>>45494053
Grox, definitely. There wouldn't be any grox on this planet at all, so having grox hoof soup or something similar would be a great way to display how awesomely rich you are.

Also, grox hoof is probably all the hive nobility here can even afford.

I think this needs to be our mindset here. We are fluffing a world, it's local factions and their immediate enemies for 40k ttrpg's.

Almost everything that we fluff should be done with the mind set of "How does this affect my Only War character?", "Why is the Rouge Trader here?", "How far down does the Chaos Stealer conspiracy go for my Dark Heresy game?". That would seriously help focus our efforts

Come to think about it, this.

Even with the insanely high housing prices around here, the ones that shout "I'm bloody rich" are the ones with the largest space.

The self-contained, 1-2-stories high houses common in the west would be a luxury here.
>>
>>45494025
The local brotherhoods and sisterhoods of the cog on this shit hole of a world are in bad repute with Mars whenever mar remember they exist.

Their main line shit, the shit not given to the military, tend to be a somewhat shoddy.

Shoddy workmanship is a crime against the Omnissiah. They would be excommunicate for being constantly crap and copying patterns of other forgeworld without a writ of consent but that would require effort and they aren't worth it.

The local cog boys and girls do have their good side.

They mount privately funded prospector expeditions across the surface to find new ore veins to tap when the current one runs out. Maybe the hive will move rather than die. Possibly thy may try to hijack another ship and crash it into the approximate place where they need to build.

Some of them also set up and run algae tanks for the poor. It's the lowest of low grade food but it is free.

>>45494141
But they are literally not even armed (from a technical point of view), as well as they are not even a chamber militant. They are simply monks who happen to be ridiculously proficient in asskicking.

Nut for real, they wouldn't mind girls joining them at all.

>>45494141
I'm inclined to agree. Warrior-monastics of the Ecclesiarchy specializing in hand-to-hand combat and flame-based weaponry? That's the Sisterhood.
>>
>>45494177

花園無道拳

(Dao literally means Road, but also means rules, morals, that sort of stuff)
You can also use 無律, as in no patterns

Emperor Qi seven fists...hmm....
帝氣七拳?
>>
>>45494141
I disagree for two reasons.

First, Sisters are an outside force that are by and large trained for a substantial part of their lives on one of two worlds. One of their jobs is keeping an eye on the Ecclesiarchy so it doesn't go full retard again, and monitoring local religions for deviance. If we're going with the stuff with Matthias Ricco that I wrote some would have accompanied him when the reconversion work began, and its very likely that there are at least some Orders Famulous sisters doing their Bene Gesserit thing amongst the hive's nobility. The sisters are intentionally an intrusion of the Imperium into the way the planet normally operates, in both positive and negative ways. More so than the Praetorians, they represent a way for the Imperium to change the culture of the planet to one more in keeping with the baseline Imperium. They can't be corrupted by cultural "this is how things have always been" and are in a position to see how the planet fits into the wider Imperium. Even sisters who were recruited here would have been offworld, seen other cultures, purged heretics under a thousand different stars. From a RPG perspective, they are also a neutral point of contact to bridge the gap between native and outsiders - a sister can be trusted to act in much the same way anywhere, and can be planned around.

Second, this is a planet of billions stuffed into an area that really, seriously shouldn't be able to support that many people but is still sodding massive. There are going to be millions of cults, even if they all spring from the same general place. Necromunda has the Red Redemption, but it isn't the official religion of the hive and its still sort-of banned even if it is the official cult of House Cawdor. Inquisitors even recruit and spread the cultists because they can be useful, even when its proscribed. What I'm suggesting, therefore, is that the native religion cults can be their own thing without being SOBS.
>>
>>45494244
Well fuck, I'm stupid.

>>45494288

>>
>>45494107

So the richest elite aren't even in the hive spire. That one's for the old families, some of whom have long since fallen from grace. The wealthy live in sectioned domes where land has been reclaimed, connected to the main hive by private railways and supply tunnels. The domes were originally intended to house hundreds of thousands of people, to lessen the burden on the main hive, but corruption and back-handed deals ensured that all that land ended up in the hands of the rich.
>>
Don't have much to add but I've been watching the creation of this regiment and I will say that out of all the /tg/ created factions, this one is shaping up to be one of the few that are actually interesting and is currently my favorite.
>>
>>45494321
That and the rich are probably deep into the land and housing business themselves.
It's a big reason how the tycoons in HK got so damn rich, aside from the usual stock markets and large business corps.
>>

You get "old money" nobles murdering each other and plotting to steal their neighbors ancestral estates in the spire (the hulk of the wrecked ship?) just so they can knock through the walls and bulkheads for more room, while the "Nouveau riche" go out and build their own estates in the wastes. Most probably destroy their wealth in the process because it turns out that building a palatial manor ranch is expensive at the best of times, let alone when you're on a toxic ball of rock with few natural resources and your neighbors are uniformly pampered psychopaths who are trying to murder you.

You can make bigger posts than myself, and thus win.

How you spelled out the sisters works, especially if it represents western imperialism and cultural dawrinism in historical HK.

So this leads to kind of a fucked up trinity, where there's the Ecclesiarchal adherents , the local flavour, and the Chaos Xenos.

My memory's been rather fuzzy, but the colonial government in HK has a more hands-off approach towards ruling the city compared to other colonies.
While Chinese traditions and whatnot were discouraged, in the end we managed to keep those traditions alive compared to the mainland (where things went to hell during Mao's era)

Things like welfare and infrastructure didn't really take off significantly until after the 1967 riots and the fire in a large slum area, events that made the government realize they need to do something to regain trust from the citizens especially after the Japanese occupation in WW2.

In that case the average pleb could see Marines as more like Demons that the Emperor sends upon worlds that have displeased him. They could be analogous to Yao'guai, in that while not all marines are straight evil, they are all viewed as bad omens and as bringers of war instead of peace. No they're one and the same. Rookie Exterminators are the arbites and then once they have some combat experience under their belts they MIGHT get an off-world posting. ALright, I can dig it. My only problem with that is the fact that warp travel is not nearly reliable enough to handle that kind of 'rent and recall' style. Maybe they led out the COmpanies/ constitute Regiments to Crusades? Serving as a specialized tool in the toolbox of the Lord Militant in charge?

Perhaps the 1st is a 'parent' regiment, the Birthing regiment that all Exterminators are trained in, the Vetrans that can be recalled serving as Teachers and leaders, as well as crack troops on call. This would mean that there are off world Regiments, Generations of Hua Yuan's most vicious and determined Lads forged in the furnace of their Elders.

THis would overlap with the idea from last thread about the 'Dual Membership' of sibblings. Firstborns are sent off world to serve as regiments, Secondborns are inducted into the 1st, to perpetuate the traditions, Status quo and soul of their Regiment.

He wouldn't be an arbiter. Like the Sisters, the Arbites are an outside force imposed by the Imperium to ensure devotion to the Lex Imperialis. Their loyalty is always to the Imperium first, and when a planet rebels its often the Arbites precinct that is the last to hold on. They have reasonably standard armour and heraldry across the Imperium

What would fit better here are Enforcers, who are the local government's enforcers. These can be anything really, so long as they help keep law and order and make sure the tithes get paid on time. You want cyberpunk jackbooted thugs in the pay of megacorps and wearing their heraldry and colours, stamping down on the common man? Enforcers are your guys. Enforcers could also potentially be part of the conscription pool for the planet, whereas Arbites may or may not even be local (Shira Calpurnia was from a neighboring sector to the one she was assigned to, I think)

Think of it as the distinction between an FBI agent and a local policeman. Both law enforcement, one deals with more important capital crimes. For a Dark Heresy game, for example, the Arbites might be investigating Genestealer cults but not bothering about, say, an alley mugging unless they come across it in the course of their duties.

I'd say that the Jade Fire Sect would do both the Slaaneshi and Genestealer/Tyranid forces (of course said Slaaneshi would disguise themselves as Genestealer Cultists in order to be beaten byt the monks because it makes their masochist boner harder).

The part with the sisters would be that the sect sees the sisters as hot-heads that jump before thinking (most of them that is) and who would burn a whole Hive World if they wanted to, while the sisters see them as too slow too act and taking over their job.

Of course the sect has a really big reason to dislike the sisters. The last time a Sister force landed on Hua Yuan, it killed off indiscriminately not only the Chaos Cult the monks and local Enforcers tried to uncover and terminate (which they were very close in doing so), but also many innocent people due to the sisters having their combination of zealotry (reinforced by a high-ranking off-world Ecclesiarch) and "Red Rage" at the time. Not to mention that their burnination threatened other levels of Hua Yuan.

Needless to say, they don't talk to much on it and ignore each other unless there is a urgent situation.
>>
>>45498394
I'm just spitballing, maybe some kind C4 equivalent would be better, represent gangland car bombs and such
>>
>>45498340
I disagree, actually. Krak grenades are anti-armour, but in an environment like a hive that also means bulkhead breaches and disabling high tech security.

I also think maybe some caution about flamers would be wise. Yes, they're fantastic tunnel clearers and anti-personnel weapons, but remember fire consumes oxygen. This is an environment where oxygen is a massive priority and where even a small uncontrolled fire is going to lead to the deaths of thousands, either from burns as the shoddy, jam-packed habs catch and its spreads or suffocation as all the air gets used up. Its quite possible that in the event of a fire whole sections of the hive have to be quarantined and put into lockdown to make sure it burns itself out (and killing everyone trapped in there, but sod it, its not like they're short of people)

Jaysus, I remember that news report.
It was basically a wipeout for miles, a lot of the firefighters and whatnot got AoE'd, so did the spectators watching (cripes why would you be watching the fire go off just run the fuck away you idiots)

It didn't take long until the central government went full hush-hush over the disaster though, so I have no idea what happened next

Anyways, I agree with being careful with the fire. Cramped space like this is one hell of a fire hazard, and with how tall the buildings can be, trying to put out the fire can be extra difficult.
>>
>>45498551
Awww darn. Forgot about last thread.

But I still would say that they'd additionally take on vanilla Tyranid forces too if they are part of the regiment itself. They take on the melee specialists and then the Guardsmen give them fire support.
>>
>>45498634
Right that makes sense. I think it was stated that the Broodlord of the Cult has some Tervigons and Trygons and is slowly amassing biomass.

That gives plenty of beasties for the guard to fight and the whole Chaos Genestealer arm gives the Arbites, Enforcers, SoB, Jade Flame Sect and other dudes to play a Dark Heresy campaign.

But apart the Jade Fire Sect, let's add the Stormtroopers/Tempestus Scions in there too to make it crazier.

These Hua Yuan Scions guys would be called the Beast Slayers and recruited from among the most veteran and skilled members of the regiment to undergo a grueling training regime. If they manage to finish it, they get superior wargear and weapons to which only the Command staff would have access to (well most of those that is).

Their name comes from the fact that they are experienced in taking down large beasts, and the way they do so is often truly insane. Because of their skills at fighting giant Tyranid creatures (and any large beast in general), and the fact that they are allowed to do more than what is allowed for guardsmen to do, they can get away with things like strapping Carnifex skulls to their transports. Because they can pull it off, they are as respected as the Jade Fire Sect Monks. Every Guardsman would like to join them, but not everyone is fit to be a part of this small division of the Exterminators.

They're in a weird spot.

They fought off a genetealer invasion on a world and took massive casualties, During this period their ship crashed into the world's only hive becoming a part of it. There were only enough men left after the conflict to form 1 regiment and it was decided they would be given right of settlement to a) rebuild their own forces and b) rebuild the society of the planet itself (which is actually a moon)

What we have now is a result of that culture where the 1st Exterminators are officially listed as a single imperial guard regiment but are large enough that a "company" is the same size as your average guard regiment. They police their own world and have forces that they send out, under the official designation of "specialists" or "advisors" but in reality are essentially just regiments that they are committing to a warzone
>>
>>45498246
Most planets just use the local PDF for that, or their own private security forces. There isn't really a special enforcer group - unless you count the Arbites Enforcers, who are brought into the Inquisition and don't serve as Arbites anymore.

>>45499202
I thought it was that there was a genestealer cult, and before it could properly be stamped down it had called a Hive Fleet their way. They fled on a ship, crashlanded on a planet, and managed to use the crazy atmosphere of the world as a first line of defense - but some cultists/Tyranids survived, and still need to be hunted down.

I think it'd be simpler to say that the 1st Exterminators is the first regiment they've managed to raise since their new settlement went up. They probably were granted leave of a tithe for a generation or two as they built their numbers back up and dealt with the Tyranids, sort of how Armageddon had a smaller tithe to make sure it was ready when the Orks came back.

It wasn't that to my knowledge at any point anon. It was always that our ship crashed while cleansing genestealers and the wreck was just incorporated into the hive. Also we killed them before they had time to call a hive fleet. I'm pretty sure that's what it was since the 1st thread. It was always we were off-worlders who adapted to the culture and terrain of our new world. They were already hive-fighting experts but living on Hua Yuan just reinforced that and made them masters of the craft. The neon and mines of hte planet forced us to adopt our current look and tactics.

Tabletop stuff isn't much of a thing in HK, especially 40k because we don't really have much space to actually play the damn game.

I support the idea of bullpup lasguns/hotshots with underslung shotguns

Meanwhile the general term for flamethrowers is 火焰噴射器

A flashbomb would be 閃光彈 I think

Bullpup shotguns with underslung smoke grenades?
>>
>>45498996
Yeah, I thought so.

Tempestus Scions BTW don't have this ring to them.

>>45499164
Then let us roll.

We can very well implant some of the things the Hua Yuan guys have and then fill it up with Stormtrooper related stuff.

Rolling for Troop Types.
>>
>>45499641
Darn. Let's start it again
>>
>>45499624
Dunno about making it bullpup, but doesn't sound bad so i'm cool myself with that.

Dammit.

Someone can roll for me, since I forgot how to write in the rolls properly in the options bracket.

Rolled 1 (1d10)

>>45499699
Darn, now it worked, and with the wrong dice.

Re-rolling 1d10.
>>
>>45499724
Tempestus Scions it is!

Roll for training world?(1d100)
>>
Rolled 8 (1d100)

>>45499760
>>
>>45499714
That was pretty much my thoughts. The gear we have, especially that of the veterans, would be 100% specialized for close-quarters, room-to-room fire fights and breaching actions
>>
>>45499724
Wait. Airborne specialization on Hive Worlds?

How is that even possible if these guys didn't even went out to explore the outside of their world?

OK then. Though better if they were trained on Hua Yuan.

I don't think these guys should be connected. If anything, new regiments from the same world should just use the basic template and then adapt from that. I mean, we've got all the basic details of the world, you've just got to invent some new commanders and famous battles. Not everything needs to be rerolled on the same table.
>>
>>45499479
Are those actual swear words or just workarounds?
>>
Rolled 23 (1d100)

>>45499812

Well for a moment I thought we'd get something unrelated to the regiment.

Rolling for special tactics.

They are actually connected in that they are veterans from the Regiment taken in for extra training. Overall they have all the same stuff as the Guardsmen, only better.
>>
Rolled 10 (1d100)

>>45499899
Siege Breakers. They are rolling some heavy arguments here.

Special Equipment roll.

Rolled 7 (1d10)

>>45499918

Rolling for commanding officer.

>>45499899

The storm troopers could Praetorians who decided to retire to Hua Yuan after being stationed Kinda like advisors the Brits had to train the hong kong militia (actually a thing). A bunch of badass grandpas and whatever exterminators they thought were well mannered and disciplined to join them.
>>
>>45499874
They aren't swear words, but the last one is pretty rough slang.

Well, Cantonese itself is a rougher language compared to Mandarin anyways.
>>
Rolled 2 (1d10)

>>45499953
Both the leader of the Regiment, Yeoh Hong and some Commissar dude.

>>45499964
That'd be a good thing. Hoping that the demeanor will be fitting them.

But now let's do company size.
>>
>>45499899
>they are veterans from the Regiment taken in for extra training
Then they'd be Grenadiers, not Tempestus Scions.

>>45499953
>name the variant
Dilong? Means "earth dragon"
>>
>>45499964
That makes sense. They could be praetorian auxilieries rather than Huan-Yuan's themselves. Its quite possible that there are the odd native raised regiments among the Praetorians (so people from the planet, but cultured like the redcoats). Maybe a bit like Gurkhas.

I do worry its diluting focus from the main force, mind you.
>>
Rolled 5 (1d10)

>>45499994
Very Small. Gonna have to be really badass to survive.

>>45500002
>Then they'd be Grenadiers, not Tempestus Scions.
Cadians do this with Kasrkins and the latter are as badass as vanilla Stormtroopers/Tempestus Scions.

Also digging the Dilong/Earth Dragon Taurox variant.

>>45500028
They won't be the focus. We do them fast and we come again to do the rest of the regiment.

Rolling for Company Renown.
>>
Rolled 11 (1d100)

>>45500073
Well Known. Fair enough.

Now rolling for Company Demeanor.
>>
>>45500002
鐵豪
Iron hero/warrior
>>
>>45500090
>Rolled Fanatical

OK, I seriously hope they won't jeopardize the regiment's efforts.

>>45500100
This also be a good name. Though better use Iron Hero to avoid association with a certain faction of Chaos Marines...
>>
>>45499423
I'm pretty sure this was fleshed out pretty well in the last thread.

After we start rolling again and utterly ruining these guys we need to agree on stuff and consolidate. I feel this train is going off the rails and we'll loose focus soon.
>>
>>45500073
If we're keeping the Earth dragon thing, we could also use 伏藏龍 (guards underground treasures)

地龍 is a thing in mythology, but it's more associated with rivers and seas. It's also a nickname for earthworms, apparently.
>>
>>45500073
>Cadian Kasrkin
Yes, but those are still technically "Grenadiers"

Grenadiers are the local Stormtrooper tier group, Scions are the Schola trained Stormtroopers.

Unless, of course, there's a Schola Progenium facility in/around HY, and keep all 50-100 dudes around just in case.

>>45500100
I'd use that name for the Armored Fist groups the Exterminators maintain, if any.
>>
>>45500159
Fair enough.

Though the command Taurox of the Dillong variant used by the Commissar would be called "The Iron Hero".
>>
>>45500132
A stoic, cold kind of fanaticism seems like it would be a good for these guys.
Like methodical, brutal purging.
>>
>>45500158
I kinda of agree, better to consodilate what we have and get as fleshed out as we can the Exterminators and Hua Yuan and then make their stormtrooper compliment or make them just Grenadiers
>>
>>45500198
We could brew out a specialized Schola that takes the sons and daughters of late guardsmen of high renown and take the regimental training much further.

>>45500208
Ya know? Actually it is fitting.

>>45500221
So what should we add to the Exterminators?

I'd go with additionally adorning their vehicles with skulls of larger Tyranid creatures.

Imagine a vehicle crew being proud of sporting a Carnifex skull on their vehicle hull.
>>
>>45500221
Grenadiers could be fun. The elite of the elite, something that we could tie into the regiment and its culture.
>>
Rolled 3 (1d10)

>>45500286
Then let's make them grenadiers.

Emperor help me with the dice.

>>45498626
Some one was storing things that they shouldn't have been or at least didn't put down on paper.

That something turn out to have been rather volatile. Also turn out to be something you shouldn't have been mixing water with.

The fire fighters didn't know this, because someone was being less than honest, and shit went bad when the shit got wet.

That someone was a big company and a up to the balls contributor to The Party. The Party has to be seen as immaculate and the rightful leaders of the people they represent so they can't admit that they, or people who's ass they are buried in, or people might start to become discontent and start having individual thoughts and shit.

The people responsible are quietly forgotten about by the Chinese state controlled media, the media of those who need their trade (seemingly everyone else) are politely told to look the other way with the implication that if they didn't they would be asked impolitely. Any outside speculation that is generated is kept from the Chinese people by the all protecting Great FireWall.

In the end its just one more Chinese fuck up where no one is brought to justice except the occasional unlucky scapegoat, the families of the poor bastards that got killed or maimed are given pittance for compensation and the world does it's best to forget because we need out Chinese overlords.

Or that's what it looks like.

Notable engagements, not including Genestealers and other Tyranid xenos, would include minor Chaos incursions. Slaaneshi for the most part, but most notably a motorized Khornate group. Some elements of this group is still at large.

Gaurdsmen Kim came from a very small gang in the gangs underhive, this gang, called the The Dredd, renowned for their brutal, totalitarian ways and proffesionalism, they carved out a sizable empire for themselves in the dank underhive.
Little is known about Kims history with the gang, other than that he was a high ranking luitenant and was considered extreme even by the gangs standards, once exterminating a whole hab block just to prove a point.
However the other gangs in the area, scared of the Dredds power, organised a coalition and laid seige to the Dredds territory, the records about what happened during this time are sketchy at best, however after 5 months of solid fighting and hundreds of thousands of dead civilians and gangers, the Dredds and the other gangs were all destroyed, only Kim Jong remained.
When the local arbites managed to reach them, they pressed Kim into service in the exterminators, where he serves to this today.

The presence of a Commissar General indicates some serious lack of faith in the senior elements of the local command structure.

Perhaps his role in overseeing the general operations of the Hua Yuan 1st is more to ensure that Munitorum's regulations are being followed, after a very long period of the senior command implicitly encouraging some very unorthodox logistical and tactical behaviour.

Also Commissar Generals exist to manage the Commissars in the regiment. Promoting cadets to full Commissar status and giving promotions to existing ones.

So we could make it that General Mao Bu was once a Lord Commissar and that Phisk was a Praetorian Commissar General. He'd promote Mao to Commissar General rank when he managed to win a murderous battle against the Tyranids and do so with minimal casualties.

One easy way to resolve some of these difficulties is to assume that the Exterminators were raised as a standard regiment for off-planet use but were retasked to combat the tyranids and large numbers have remained because the campaign still isn't over. Armageddon has a teeny tiny Ork problem. One would expect most of the defenders to be Steel Legionairres and Ork Hunters, even when other regiments were tasked with the 2nd and 3rd war. It still exports regiments because while the fighting remains intense in some places its nowhere near as bad as it once was. Similarly, here the problem is great enough to warrant having elements of the regiment on permanent standby, but not so much as to warrant exterminatus (particularly as Sisters and Praetorians are available as backup). Once the Genestealer threat is contained the Exterminators will almost certainly be retasked to other warzones and life will return to normal. PDF and private guilder enforcer units can resume normal duties and continue to be vigilant for 'nid attacks while the Exterminators lend their skills to other battlefronts.

Its a little less special snowflakey, while allowing other regiments from the planet to have been about the galaxy bringing their unique blend of urban assault mayhem to other, non-Tyranic battlefields.

Ok so there seems to be a lot of confusion and general spinning of wheels. I think we should focus in and set in stone what we have. Here is what we have had since the 1st thread:

What are we? - Cyberpunk guard with a generous sprinkling of hong-kong and yakuza shenanigans

Where do we live? - Hua Yuan, a moon that has a completely hostile environment. There is ONE massive hive on Hua Yuan built over a massive resource mine. This mine has since long dried up and the imperial authorities left the place to rot. Gangs took over and people slowly started to build the hive deeper into the mine. Eventually it was discovered that there was a rampant gene-stealer infestation and the imperium was called in to kill dem bugs. Enter the exterminators, a mish-mash of different regiments all stationed on a massive imperial battleship who became experts at hive-warfare during the campaign. Eventually because genestealers the battleship was overrun and crashed into the hive. The survivors all banded together to combat the infestation, eventually cleansing the hive before the genestealers could send psychic signals out

HOWEVER there were barely enough survivors after the fighting to form a single regiment and what few actual authorities had remained on the planet after the imperial abandonment had been killed in the early stages of the fighting. it was determined the survivors would be grouped together to form the Hua Yuan 1st Exterminators Regiment and would be given settlement rights over the world. This, in effect turned the regiment into the de-facto government, police force, and PDF all in one. The members of the original force were drawn from all different regiments and a significant number of the ranking officers were Praetorians who happened to be in sturdier sections of the crashing ship.

cont.
>>
>>45502224
Over the generations the Exterminators began to look more and more like an elite police force, swapping their standard-issue gear for specialized versions and adapting their traditions and tactics to their new homeworld.

To this day there still only exists a single regiment designated the 1st, however, this one regiment is incredibly large. Within this regiment are "Companies" that form the de-facto regiments of the planet. Each company is raised to have specific functions such as scouting, or heavy weapons, however each company is still at its' base, an infantry group of the 1st Hua Yuan.

cont.
>>
>>45502303
The Hive of Hua Yuan itself began to change the Exterminators, proud of their heritage and the conflict that forged the regiment, they adorn themselves with trophies of the mutated tyranid monstrosities who still sometimes appear the in the bowels of the mines below the hive. The mines themselves are slowing becoming more and more crowded as a population explosion brought on by the arrival and subsequent official imperial support for the exterminators has crowded the hive to the breaking point. People now live in the mines themselves and the "underhive" is a constant battleground between gangs, the policing companies of the regiment, and occasional re-emergent genestealer cults.

Due to the near-perpetual darkness of this area and teh hive itself, punctuated only by the bright neon and noble gas signs that are found in abundance due to the saturated atmosphere of the planet. The regiments have adapted to this painting their armour in garish colours and using bright lights and disorienting tactics to stay one step ahead of their enemies, who often have the home-field advantage deep in the bowels of the mines.

Imperials were only ever REALLY involved when the mining vessel set out. After it crashed, Yaun was isolated until about the praetorians showed up
>>
>>45502224
>imperium was called in to kill dem bugs. Enter the exterminators, a mish-mash of different regiments all stationed on a massive imperial battleship who became experts at hive-warfare during the campaign.
What the fuck, I thought the exterminators where natives, when was this shit agreed upon?
>>
>>45502494
Yeah I'm pretty sure the Natives formed the Regiment, Or at least the majority of the contributors feel that the natives formed the regiment
>>
>>45502557
aye, thought that the crew of the ship that crashed was just filled with civvies.

The natives have formed the regiment since the initial founding. Now it's completely made up of natives and teh descendants of the originals (considered natives)
>>
>>45503036
What, so just like the landlady in Kung Fu Hustle then?
>>
>>45503067
So, the ship crashed unto the planet, yes?
The Praetorians found the place, a regiment got made after an attack by genestealers, and badda bing badda boom exterminators, right?
>>
>>45503132
Yeah. Essentially a mish-mash of regiments crashed during the fight with genestealers and after the fight was over everyone who fought was just lumped together and re-named the Exterminators, They've recruited exclusively from the locals since

You guys think we should go for another thread?
>>
>>45501228
>>45503132
>>45503171
>>45503067
Reading past threads when? And even if you've been here from the get, you're obviously not tracking a lot of stuff.

A fleet hit them, even if just a splinter. They fended them off, then after a large enough passage of time for highly divergent religious practices to form, the Praetorians found them and reformed them, leading to the Jade Flames of today, as polarizing they may be.

The Genestealers and co are what remains and the slowly newborn hive
>>
>>45503560
I don't think that's the real issue. The real issue is a lack of cohesion in these threads. Everybody is throwing stuff out too much, and it all gets a little convoluted and hard to follow
>>
>Slang I just thought up

To wing it.

I'm sure everyone knows what that means in English, right?
Well, in HK "Wing下Wing下" or "Wing Wing地" can be used to describe feeling dizzy because of alcohol or drugs.
Maybe in HY, winging it isn't just about doing things on the go without any planning, but also involving getting high off meds so you genuinely have no idea what you're doing. (and even if you do, you're too busy being high to give a shit)

>使乜擔心咁多啫?啪咗呢粒野佢,wing一wing咪搞掂囉,白癡!
>Why worry so much? Take this pill, wing it and there you go, you idiot!
>>
>>45503649
I'm just restating the previous reason, which seemed valid, and worked with the previous fluff rather well.

New Rule. No New stuff until all previous accounts are settled.

At this point we're fluffing a WH40k TTRPG setting, be it only war, Dark Heresy, or Rouge Trader.
>>
>>45503649
I think we should just pull the trigger and finalise the exterminators.
It seems like most of this stuff is about the planet and we can continue on with that for a bit.
>>
>>45503936
I think so two, but there's still some concrete stuff/ MINOR cultural stuff that still can be expanded on with the regiment. But, its not up to me, its up to tg
>>
>>45503936
Their history is still in the air. Most of the stuff we do now is about their planet and hangers on because we have fucking ADHD.

There's a lot of stuff we still need to iron out. I say next thread we introduce no new ideas until we fill in the gaps and decide on important stuff

Then we can focus on the world, which would be awesome.
>>
>>45504026
I really want to believe, anon.
>>
>>45504026
Sounds good to me.

I can keep doing translations, but I trust you guys to worldbuild properly.
>>
>>45504071
Believe what? That we can pop a Ritalin and finish something for once? The OG Regiment at least?

Fuck yeah. If I need to be nofun incarnate and basically patrol the threads being to dick to folks that get off track, then so be it. But by the Emperor I will see this work done.
>>
>>45504072
You're doing the Emperor's work, HKanon. The unit wouldn't be where it is today without you.
>>
>>45504278
As the OG OP, your devotion brings a tear to my eye. I'm rooting for you, arbites anon!
>>
Ay ay guys, I might make patches of the flag. Maybe the 5 minute response team one, or the flamer team.
Will post when I got them.
>>
>>45504318
>>45503061
Emperor's work, anons
>>
>>45504318
BRUH. I will bleed for one of those to slap on my uniform.

>>45504314
Thanks OG OP. If we can get the unit done in the next thread we can focus on the world and all the gangs and other stuff too.

But right now we need to settle the history of the world up to the formation of the unit, technical specifications and logistics for the unit, their roll in their homeworld and current notable deeds of the unit.

After that I say we can a thread daily about the world and it's history until we get told to fuck off. Then I say we do it weekly of we feel we're not done until we are totally exhausted.

To this end our goals are twofold; flesh out the unit to a degree in which they can be used in any format, and to flesh out their world to a point where it can be used for any game.

We need to focus on the first goal before we can move on to second.
>>
>>45504598
I made a promise last thread I would comb the other archived threads for ideas we missed. I'm still planning on doing this.
>>
>>45504747
Do so. The sooner the better. Just put down all the cards on the table.

Indicate what is canon and what is currently incongruous and undecided.

Then we can resolve those issues, then focus on the Regiment solely, only going off the beaten path to fluff the Regiment.

Then we can go fucking crazy. I want to fluff the Slanneshi Stealers so bad, but I don't want to derail anything.

Speaking of which, new thread when? I'll play OP if need be
>>
>>45504840
Well, this one's almost dead, so if you wanna OP, go for it. You could maybe give it some time, but tg will pick up pretty soon, won't it?
>>
>>45504886
Its almost half 2 in the morning in england, so im goin to bed, idk about other countries.
Look forward to seeing this finished.

>>
>>45504938
We've only had four threads, right?
>>
>>45504983
Oui. Just four. And only in this last one did I see any real wheel spinning. Sadly I missed the cool info about the religious sects and what not, so it's not on the wiki just yet. I'm trying to read through the material, I'm just tried as fuck. ANy direct links and specific requests would help a lot.
>>
>>45504938
The Great Combing will be much appreciated. I'm definitely gonna post next thread here, but with a much clearer goals and prerequisites before we move on to what unsanctioned soap operas are broadcasted on pirate Vox channels
>>
Hey other 1d4chan editing faggots, should we make separate pages for the planet and the Exterminators?
