You stand in the Kage box of the Chunin Exam finals arena, having just been witness to a historic agreement.

The Allied Shinobi Forces. A union of the Five Great Ninja villages for the first time ever. Cooperation like this had absolutely no precedent. But it seems the lingering threat was just that great.

"We should discuss our exact goals later this evening." the Tsuchikage suggests. "For now, give us some hours to ourselves."

"Of course." Itachi replies. "I will have a room prepared for us to conduct our initial meeting."

"Good." the Raikage says. "Make sure to bring your top men. We have quite a few things we're going to need to hash out."

With that, the other Kage and their aides take their leave. Looking around, you see there are quite a few people lingering in the stands as well. The disruption seems to have generated a lot of confusion. Sasuke hasn't even left the center of the arena.

"We're leaving, Kon." the Hokage tells you, as he and Neji head down the stairs. "Join us back at my office whenever you're able."

So, something fun I realized since last thread: With Rasa alive, Kon is going to have to take the place of Gaara when it comes to family drama in the Fourth Ninja War. It fits perfectly, we've got a parent whose moves are a counter to our own and who our best chance at defeating will come from distracting them with emotions over how far we've grown. Throw in the (possibly joking) comment Laze made about Kon getting his final powerup from his mom, and Kon vs. Saeko should be a cool match.

"Heh. Actually this time, I'm almost inclined to thank them." Sasuke replies. "Now we know exactly what their plan is. It's much better than sitting in the dark like we've been doing. Now that I know the truth, I know what I have to do."

Sasuke seems pretty sure of himself. That's always good.

"Congratulations on that match, by the way." you go on. "That was quite the show. Especially that last jutsu. Lord Jiraiya was freaking out about it."

"Thanks." Sasuke replies. "I didn't think I'd need to pull it out for Gaara, but I figured I'd end things with a bang. Gotta make the village look good, after all. Anyway, I need to go see Itachi real quick. You're probably headed that way too."

You nod, and the two of you leave the arena in the direction of the Hokage building. On the way, you swing by the restaurant to tell your uncle you'll be home late tonight.

You and Sasuke make your way into the Hokage's office to find him and Neji accompanied by Lord Jiraiya. They stop talking as you enter, and Sasuke makes his way up to his brother.

"I'm ready." Sasuke says. "Let's do the exchange."

"While I appreciate your enthusiasm Sasuke, this is a bad time." the Sixth responds. "I'm going to need to be using these eyes a bit longer, and the procedure will leave us both blind for a time. I'll let Shizune know, and we can work out an appropriate timeframe that doesn't cause any conflicts."

"Fine. I get it." Sasuke sighs. "Don't mean to cause an inconvenience. Just tell me when it's ready."

Sasuke waves at you as he leaves.

Now that Sasuke has left, you want to get up to speed on the Hokage's plans. Though you are a bit curios about the implications of that conversation.

"What was that about, Lord Itachi?" you ask. "Are you going to swap eyes with Sasuke?"

"That I am." the Sixth replies. "If two close relatives with the Mangekyo Sharingan exchange eyes, they can become immune to its deteriorating effects. They can gain the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. To be honest, I'm quite glad Sasuke has finally agreed. My eyesight is nearly gone as it is. With this, I don't have to worry about being a burden any longer. To a degree, anyway."

With that portion of your curiosity sated, you move on.

"So what do you have planned for the alliance, Lord Itachi?" you inquire. "Anything for me?"

"I don't want to make any big commitments as far as planning goes until we hear from the others." the Sixth begins. "I want to make sure they are accommodated first, then work around them. They already are predisposed to be annoyed whenever the Leaf tries to call the shots. I don't want to cause any unnecessary friction. Just know that you are one of my top assets. You will be one of the strongest game changers out on the field in this war. I want you to pay very close attention later this evening and think about how you can best utilize your talents, and those of your comrades."

"Itachi wants you to be one of the Leaf's chief decision makers." Jiraiya adds. "Unlike me, Tsunade and Shikaku, you have hands on experience with our finest young ninja. You know best what they're capable of."

"What about the three tails interrogation?" you ask. "Did you get any actionable information?"

"We did learn some interesting things, mostly thanks to B and Gyuuki." Itachi begins. "If they weren't there, I doubt things would have gone well at all, considering how much trouble it was with their help. We learned one important thing above all others, that will help us greatly in our negotiations with the Mist. It seems that both the Third and the Fourth Mizukage were under the influence of Madara's genjutsu. He has basically been in control of the Mist for decades. It was Madara through the Third Mizukage that set up the entire incident with Rin and Kakashi, then he took control of the Fourth Mizukage, Yagura, as well. It seems Yagura's reputation as a perfect jinchuuriki was only possible because Madara was controlling both him and the three tails. I have no doubt the Mist will have no further qualms about facing Madara now. Beyond that, we learned some things of little relevance to our situation, but meeting Gyuuki seemed to have jogged the three tails' memory a bit. He goes by Isobu, and apparently the tailed beasts were all created by the Sage of the Six Paths long ago. Isobu referenced it as not long before the last time he saw Gyuuki. Truly strange to think about, but not immediately pressing. Anyway, that's about as much as we could get out of him. He said their memories get shaky after dispersing."

But he has gotten better, in no small part thanks to you and your team. If he had learned this truth back then, he would likely have been consumed by revenge. But he's in a better state now, thanks to his bonds here. He will be just fine."

You get an idea for the meeting.

"Maybe my uncle could cater the meeting?" you ask.

"If he can, we would all be ecstatic, I'm sure." the Hokage replies. "Today is a busy day, though. But even if he can't the effort will be appreciated nonetheless."

"Also, can we make sure Shikamaru is here for the meeting?" you go on. "I'd like to have his opinion on things."

"Well, Shikaku was already going to be present, but I suppose it can't hurt." the Sixth muses to himself. "He'll have to fill his father's shoes one day, after all."

With that, you go off to take care of things. Meeting with your uncle, you find that he is happy to cater the affair. He assures you that he will take care of it.

You head back to the Hokage building and go to the meeting room. There is a big table in the center. Everyone from before in Itachi's office is here, as well as Tsunade, Shikamaru and his father. They all seem to be waiting for the others to arrive.

The thing I find interesting? The Impact sphere was destroyed by Amaterasu, but also destabilized it. Amaterasu's whole thing is that it's not just super-hot but also super-controllable. Impact must be overcharging Fire so much that the user can't sustain it. That means that if we can find a way to avoid getting caught in the backlash our Impact spheres would actually be the perfect counter to Fire techniques. Prematurely detonate them, cause them to explode in the caster's face. Literally, given that most Fire jutsu involve exhaling the flame.

You ask the father and son whether they can keep a close eye on things during the meeting, and tell you what they think afterwards. They agree, and tell you that that's what they are there for.

"After the meeting, just ask us anything in particular and we can give you our thoughts." Shikaku tells you. "If you think something might be important, don't hesitate to bring it up."

After you chat a bit, the other Kage start to arrive. The Tsuchikage, accompanied by Kurotsuchi and Akatsuchi. The two bodyguards both wave at you as they enter. The Kazekage, accompanied by his three children. Temari and Kankuro also wave in your and Shikamaru's direction, while Gaara greets you with a stare less cold than usual. The Raikage, accompanied by his two aides and his brother. B shoots some kind of hand sign in your direction.

The Mizukage and her aides haven't arrived just yet, but your uncle does, with plenty of food for everyone in attendance and then some.

"It's an honor to serve a meeting of the Five Kage!" your uncle bows to them as he enters. "Keiji Karagowa, at your service. I hope you enjoy the food, it's our finest!"

Your uncle dishes out all the food, and thanks the group again before leaving. Not long after, the Mizukage and her aides arrive. They take a seat, but everyone unanimously decides to eat first before starting.

A few minutes later, everyone is ready.

"Welcome, everyone." Itachi begins. "Thank all of you once again for joining me. We can now begin to discuss the terms of our alliance. First and foremost, I would like to nominate the Raikage as the leader of this alliance. It is his village in the most immediate danger, as such he should direct our forces. Are there any objections?"

There is some grumbling among themselves, but surprisingly, none of the other Kage object. They all agree to let the Raikage lead.

"Thank you, everyone." the Raikage takes the floor. "The Cloud greatly appreciates your support in its time of need. Now, we all know the most important factor here is the protection of the jinchuuriki. As such, B and the Leaf's jinchuuriki will have to have a separate force from the others to protect them."

"Ah naw, bro. That ain't gonna flow." B interrupts. "I'm done hiding while you guys all fight. I need to be a part to try and make things right. Besides, at a time like this you can't divide your might. Just let me fight with you and stay in your sight."

"Absolutely not, B!" the Raikage slams his fist. "It's too dangerous!"

Well, in The Last, about three years after canon ends the last member of a clan of Moon Ninja directly descended from Kaguya comes down to Earth to kidnap Hinata, steal Hanabi's eyes since his own were destroyed, and then threaten to destroy the world unless he and Naruto get to have a big dick waving competition. Okay, he says he's planning on destroying the world anyway, but we all know he's really doing it just so he can one-up the competition for his waifu.

In Boruto The Movie, two members of Kaguya's species come to the planet to...something something eat the world, I think. They're not very well developed. They're basically just Kaguya 2.0, wanting to absorb everyone's chakra. That takes place about two years or so after the manga epilogue's flash-forward, so around twenty years from now. Something for Kon to look forward to, I guess.

Might I suggest an alternative, we strike the Akatski first. Send an elite team to eliminate and destroy what akatski resources we can while their army marches on the cloud.

B can stay with the main army both for safety and as a lure.

The hit team can move in and hit Madara. If that team fails the akatski will still be weakened and engage them in a slow withdrawal. B stays with the main army, which if needs be can divide later

"We can handle it." Itachi replies. "We have a method that is nearly foolproof with minimal personnel investment. You have little need to worry."

"So I can hope. Good enough." the Raikage continues. "Next on our agenda, the minor villages. The Rain is apparently already on Madara's side."

"The Leaf has good relations with the Waterfall." Itachi says. "We can almost assuredly get them to join us. As for the others, we can try to reason with them. Though maybe the rest of you have more rapport?"

"We can try, but don't expect much." the Tsuchikage replies. "Most of the minor villages are not fans. We will send people to the Grass, but no promises."

"I can answer that." a familiar voice responds as it enters the room. It's Ino's father, Inoichi. "We've gotten all the info we could from that Hidan, and sealed him away just in case. I can give my report now, if you'd like."

"Is that alright with everyone else?" the Sixth asks. The other Kage all nod.

"Unfortunately we probably didn't get as much as you'd all have liked." Inoichi begins. "His constant pain mangles his thoughts a bit, and makes it hard to focus too thoroughly. It also seems that he was the most recent Akatsuki member. That being said, we know all of the remaining members of Akatsuki proper. They are: Madara, who had revealed himself as the leader to the others upon Pain's death. Naruto, the nine tails jinchuuriki. And an enigmatic figure known as 'Zetsu', who has a strange plant around his head and is divided neatly in half vertically to be black and white. He was only typically seen melding into the ground or walls. There is also the likely possibility of Orochimaru's right hand man, Kabuto, assisting Madara. So expect the remains of Orochimaru's followers to fight as well."

You decide to stay for the next portion as well. Before Inoichi leaves, you catch him for a quick question.

"Did Hidan know anything else about Madara?" you ask. "What he was capable of besides his teleporting?"

"Afraid not." Inoichi replies. "He had only seen Madara twice. He also seemed to not really care at all. The change of leadership had little impact in his mind. It seems Hidan was just not one to pry. Unfortunate for us."

With that, Inoichi leaves, and you turn your attention to the Mizukage and Hokage's conversation.

"I have some information that you would likely be very interested in." Itachi begins. "With B's help, we interrogated the three tails and learned some astonishing news. Both the Third and Fourth Mizukage were under the effect of Madara's genjutsu. The Mist had been under his control for decades."

The Mizukage, listening intently, stands straight up, her eyes wide.

"What?!" she exclaims. "You mean the entire period of the Bloody Mist is all Madara's fault?!"

Her two aides look very concerned as well.

"I'm afraid so." the Sixth continues. "All of the Mist's misfortune seems to have stemmed from him. Madara has been playing us all from behind the scenes."

The Mizukage's fists are shaking.

"He will rue the day he crossed me!" she yells, to no one in particular. "Our alliance will grind him to dust! He will wish he really died to Hashirama!"

The Mizukage continues her rant for a while until her aides are eventually able to calm her down.

"It seems we have more of an interest in this war than we thought." the MIzukage sighs. "We still want to iron out our deal later, but now this is personal. Madara ruined my village's credibility. He can't just walk away now. The Mist will give the alliance their full support."

After talking a bit longer, the Mizukage and her aides take their leave. It's just you with the rest of the Leaf ninja that attended the meeting now.

So, I'm thinking, and we may actually be in a better position to fight this war than the canon Allied Shinobi Forces would be. Like, here's our advantages and disadvantages, compared to canon.

The Uchiha clan is still alive. They're one of the largest clans in Konoha, means we've got around a thousand more ninja.

Tsunade isn't Hokage, so the greatest healer in the world can devote her time to healing instead of organizing soldiers.

We've got four times the number of sages as canon did, even if one of them is going to be of limited help due to his injuries and missing arm.

Rasa is still alive, gives us an extra very powerful combatant.

No Naruto to distract everyone with his histrionics and lead B into dangerous situations.

Obito doesn't have the Jinchuriki available as zombies, means that he can't use the Tailed Beasts through his Paths of Pain

Sasuke is on our side from the beginning.

Pain didn't revive our forces, so we've got about 200 more casualties than we had in canon. A good number of them were probably ninja. One of them was Chouza Akamichi, so we're down a giant.

Naruto is on the enemy team, so the army of clones will be fighting against us, not for us. Said clones should be weaker, though, no access to Tailed Beast Chakra Mode.
So all in all, I think we're doing a bit better than canon. Of course, that will change once the Ten-Tails gets revived. Without Orochimaru to revive the dead Hokages, and without Naruto to give everyone Nine Tails Chakra Cloaks we'll be having a much harder time. But for the war itself, if not the giant monster, we'll be solid.

I was thinking that maybe the only reason I wasn't was because of Itachi. Because of his genjutsu. If he hadn't influence the whole clan, who knows what things could be like today? I can't say with confidence that I would be able to escape the curse of hatred. When I thought about it, the clan being under Kotoamatsukami was almost like I was in the Infinite Tsukuyomi. Everything was far better than it had any right to be. So I guess I can see where they're coming from, at least. There are some things that they just can't experience in this world. I don't want them to succeed, but I don't want to deny their cause. I kind of get it. The 'me' that is free from the curse of hatred only exists because of a mass genjutsu like it."

As there doesn't actually seem to have been anything in front of the moon after all, you quickly put the thought out of your head.
