Previously on Beast in the Sky Quest you, Freyja and her daughter Lisa managed to escape the city of Ghel after hijacking their latest technological marvel; The Beast. An immense flying fortress powered by Freyja's near-endless supply of raw magical power.

You traveled to the town of Saffron posing as a Navy captain, wherein you met Ruul, an eccentric and somewhat unstable mechanic, scientist and all-around mechanical "wiz".

After learning of a sizable bounty on a local monster problem, you decided to use a dummy as bait to lure it out and take it out using The Beast's superior firepower. However, upon inspection, the "monster" appears to be a Tul, one of Freyja's race.

Welcome back to Beast in the Sky Quest!

You gaze carefully at the creature on the lake dancing across the water. While the glow is a different color from Freyja's and certainly brighter, you are almost positive that the woman floating around out there is a Tul. You have no idea how this could be any kind of monster, from what you know the Tul are a peaceful people with no history of attacking anyone, much less killing countless people over years and years.

What do you do? Should you inform Freyja?

Of course we should. Maybe she led us here for that Tul, maybe not, but I can't imagine her appreciating the eradication of one of her kind.

Unless that orange glow has a meaning. Freyja's is blue iirc, right?
>>
You head to the lander and use the radio to call Freyja aboard the Beast. After a short silence, you instruct her which button to press to use it.

"Hello?" she asks carefully.

"Hey, so...we're looking out at the lake right now and...uh...there's no monster, but..." you check the binoculars once more. Yep, she's still out there, dancing with a big smile on her face, "Well...it's a Tul. I mean, it looks different from you kinda, but it's gotta be a one. Uh, SHE'S gotta be one."

"What? But...wait, different how?"

"Well, this one's-I mean, she's orange and glowing a little brighter than you do, but she's got all the other characteristics you have...aaaalso she's naked." you catch yourself staring a bit. Ruul laughs.

"Orange...what, that's...there are no orange Tul. The blue glow is universal. Whatever she is, she's not a Tul."

"Should we...try talking to her?" you ask, getting a little concerned now.

"I...maybe?" Freyja sounds equally concerned, "I don't know what it is or if it understands human language. I'll watch for the flare, though."

Should you try to make contact with it? It's pretty far out on the lake, you'd need to actually board the boat to get within speaking distance.

You figure, hell, what's the worst that could happen? She looks harmless enough, and if worst comes to worst you have your weapons and Beast's support...though the lack of real accuracy and sheer amount of firepower are a little unnerving.

You both pile into the boat, rifles loaded and ready to roll. The motor burbles to life, sputtering and whining. Obviously it's old, but it gets the job done. You putter out to the lake and the woman is watching you the entire time, always smiling, always dancing. She tiptoes across the water gracefully, as if she were flying through the air. Once you get close, but not too close, you stop, engine still running just in case.

"Ah...hello!" you speak loudly, clearly and slowly. "M-miss? My name is Isaac! What, uh, what's yours?" You do your best to seem non-threatening.

She doesn't say a word, just continues to smile and dance. She is, however, approaching you carefully. Up close you realize she is, in fact, very attractive. A soft, gentle face, silky hair, rather...impressive measurements and warm, welcoming body language.

"Do you understand me?" you ask, finding it hard to take your eyes off her, "Can...can you speak my language?"

Still nothing, however, she's stopped just a few feet shy of your boat. Her dancing continues, wiggling the impressive parts of her anatomy enticingly. Ruul is staring very intently and you find it hard not to do the same. She is very good at what she does...

She's getting closer now...

You're too mesmerized by this radiant creature before you to notice much else.

Too entranced by soft, inviting curves to focus on much else.

To out of it to realize what's surfaced behind her and the horrifying number of teeth it has. Or that it's very much too close for your comfort. The creature, a colossal angler fish, takes a sudden bite out of the side of the boat, ripping the motor in half and sending you lurching backwards into the remainder of your floating, wooden coffin. Ruul, following suit along with you. The monster is opening it's mouth for a second chomp, one you're very sure the boat itself will not survive.

You point the flaregun straight up, fire, and then slam the paddles into the water and row harder than you had any idea you could. Ruul, however, only has experience getting dangerous things as far away from himself as possible and completely overshoots the creature's mouth, the grenade sailing harmlessly past it, plunking softly into the water, a muffled burst shortly after. You don't care, all you're thinking about right now is getting the fuck out of there.

Thankfully, as if through a sheer miracle, the Beast's heavy caliber rounds rain down with near pinpoint accuracy, tearing through the angler and rending it into sickening, gory chunks. It squeals with pain for only a moment before it becomes nothing more than chum, the glowing woman-shaped lure exploding into bio-luminescent rain after a shell impacts with it directly, it's still-smiling head bouncing with a gooey thunk against the side of your boat.

You manage to make it back to shore with nary a scratch on you beyond your motor boat now just being a...boat. But you don't care. You throw yourself onto land and immediately hurl up that lovely fish you had earlier onto the shore.

Ruul is laughing again. Bastard.

You take a few minutes to compose yourself and evacuate the last of your stomach, not to mention wait for Ruul's gigglefit to subside. You killed the fish, you want the damn money now.

The elder opens the door you've been banging on slowly, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He looks you up and down, soaking wet and covered in viscera, and opens his mouth to speak before you cut him off.

"Fish dead. Bounty now." you pant, Ruul still stifling a snicker.

The elder simply gapes for a moment, mouth moving but no words coming out. Just the occasional "buh", "wah" and "yih".

"Fish. Dead. Money. Now." you repeat angrily. A small chunk of fin sliding off your head with a "plop" onto his doorstep.

"Y-yes, of course! I...you really...?" the elder eyes you both, taking in the incredible amount of gore covering you two. "Really... Good lord... Please, wait here for a moment!" he disappears into his house for a short while, returning with a large sack of glittering coins, certainly a sight for sore eyes.

You pat his shoulder with a gooey, sopping hand. "Pleasure doing business with you."

You end up back on the Beast after the most vigorous washing of your life and a silent vow to never let a supple bosom and undulating hips to think for you as long as you live. You sleep heavy that night, your entire body sore and exhausted. Almost too heavy to be woken by Ruul shaking you awake.

"-tain. CAPTAIN!" he shouts as you snort and blink, confused. "We're loaded and ready to go. Town gave us a buncha crap to thank us for pulping the lake thing. Food and clothes, mostly. We're ready to ship out at your order. Unless you wanna stay here and see if there's anything else in the lake."

I wasn't going to originally, but I had to end the thread early yesterday and had a lot of fun, so I figured I'd do another today. Sadly, it completely slipped my mind what day it was. Whoops.

Peck it is! Also, if you guys want to put Ruul to work on anything, http://pastebin.com/ba7x0HpX that has a list of currently inactive systems on the Beast. He can also spruce up the automatons, giving them general tune-ups and improving their abilities overall. Or, he can convert some into actual combat versions, which would vastly improve their accuracy when firing, but lower their abilities otherwise. Keep in mind, he is only one man, so he can currently only work on one thing at a time. Each system will take three days to fix, automatons one. Vapor Cannon requires more than just him to work.

Ruul gleefully prances off into the belly of the Beast to get to work, a heavy box full of clanging tools in arm and a whistle on his lips.

You set "sail" for the North, making for the equally tiny town of Peck. You arrive in Peck a few hours later without incident, yet another small throng of townsfolk gathering to watch your ship come into view. These, however, are almost entirely armed to the teeth, complete with medium to heavy armor on every adult, with even the children wearing light. The town is surrounded by a large wall of sharpened trees, skeletons of numerous beasts and possibly even humanoid creatures stuck to the tips messily. Automatons flit about the front gate piling boxes up, moving others away and dragging large sacks into and out of various buildings. They haven't opened fire or shown any act of aggression yet, but you're still a little unnerved.

You find a good, open spot to touch down, more clouds of dirt and grass flying about as you do. The whole crew, all four of you, anyway, all hop out, the townsfolk meeting you halfway. Quite a number of them look rather intimidating, scars, muscles, impressive firearms and armor, however even at all this, they are nothing but welcoming smiles. An older woman, muscular, covered in painful scars, with a clockwork prosthetic leg limps up to greet you using a long rifle as a makeshift cane.

"Welcome to Peck, stranger!" she says, a rough, gravelly voice somehow still managing to sound motherly. "I take it you're from the capitol? Not often we get your kind this close to Ironwood, least of all on a ship that size. Another high-profile convict make it out of Graeg? I can tell you we haven't seen anything recently. The woman laughs. "Well, if you're looking for fine dining, I'd suggest somewhere else. Unless you have a surplus of dire bear and wolf meat aboard your vessel."

"Quadrant seveeeeen!" one of the lookouts on top of the wall shouts and a chorus of gunshots ring out somewhere. There is a moment of silence. "...Runners!" He is answered by a group of voices yelling "roger!" in response.

"As you can see, we survive off the Ironwood's beasts for the most part." the woman smiles. "Not too many come here for trade, so I'm afraid we've learned to become fairly self sufficient. Engineers, however, we have no shortage of. I'm afraid you'd have to find someone to bring along on your own, everyone here pulls their own weight, so they have their own freedom to do as they please. We don't have much in the way of taverns or the like, but we have a number of workshops near the center of town. You can try there."

"Much appreciated, ma'am." you respond, elbowing Ruul for staring at her leg. "And would you happen to have a...large surplus of paint? Upkeep for a ship this size is a bit difficult, I'm sure you understand."

"Paint? Haha, I can't say we'd have enough to cover something that size. If you're looking for a few gallons here and there, there are a few stores near the workshops as well."

"Lastly, I'm a little curious as to all the...err, defenses you have. You seem ready to go to war rather than run a town." you motion to the others looking more like a platoon of soldiers than townsfolk.

"The Ironwood is an unforgiving place, young man. We have to remain vigilant at all times for any number of dangers that come from her."

Writing.
>>
You thank the woman and your group heads to the center of town, marveling at the number of open-air shops full of blacksmiths, mechanics and clockwork artisans. Ruul is positively giddy, stopping to inspect every bit of technology he sees and speaking to the ones working on them at length. Most shoo him away, but a few humor him and talk shop for a few moments. Pricing here seems to range from the fairly reasonable to the "he just threw out a ridiculous number to get you to leave him alone", but the selection is pretty impressive, the craftsmanship almost as intricate and precise as some of the Dwarven-made goods you've seen. There are a few shops selling automatons, both utility and combat. The best prices with the highest quality you've found have combat automatons at 1,000 a piece and utility at 800.

As for paint, you can find just about any color for 20G/gallon, with a maximum of 30 gallons of any given color. You'd need quite a bit more to color the entire ship, but covering the Navy symbols shouldn't take more than 60 total.

Of course, you're not one to pay full price for anything.

As for engineers, you have a few prospects, but most are apprentices who want to see the world and explore the lands beyond Peck and the Ironwood. No full-fledged engineers feel the need to go elsewhere, but they assure you their automatons are more than capable of performing heavy-duty repairs under careful instruction and supervision.

Until you make your way to one small, unassuming shop hidden between two other, much larger and impressive ones. All around it are very delicate, precise and extremely impressive clockwork automatons, machines and any number of sundries, ranging from decorative to useful. The shop is run by a young woman of equal small, unassuming stature as the rest of her shop. A frumpy sweater, skirt down to her ankles, thick glasses and hair down to her lower back. She's shy, polite and rather nervous.

"W-welcome to Wella's. I'm...Wella. How can I help you?"

"You made all of these?" you say, looking at a small, flapping bird with quartz eyes, "It's impressive-there's quite a variety."

"Thanks." she says meekly, "My dad taught me. Used to be his shop 'til he got eaten."

"Oh...monsters?"

"Convicts. They're dead now, though, so it's okay."

"Well, ah, I see... Well, someone of your obvious talents, I gotta know; why not expand? You could be doing so much better for yourself."

"Well, I...I dunno, all the others have these big shops with apprentices and stuff and...I couldn't really run things like that. I work better alone or under someone, I guess...that and..." she looks down, getting a little quieter. "I guess...uhm...my heart isn't in it."

"Not in it? Why?" you stop Ruul from playing with a delicate-looking music box.

"I dunno...all the other people my age talk about exploring the world and seeing the sights, getting into trouble and adventures, meeting people beyond the same few people you see here every day. I think I share that mindset...but I'm no explorer, I'm just a clockwork artisan...oh, sorry, I was babbling...did...did you want to buy something?"

"Funny you should mention that, see, I'm in-" you begin before Ruul cuts you off.

"Wanna be my assistant? Hours are crap, we almost died yesterday, but you get to work on a big ass ship and I really hate pissing with clocks." Ruul says matter-of-factly. You glare at him, but he completely ignores you. He's almost a little too comfortable with his position on the Beast. You are the captain, after all...you found it first.

"Shut up, Ruul. You'll have to excuse him, he's...his last project exploded."

"Excuse me, captain, it did not explode from poor craftsmanship. It exploded from impacting with the side of the ship." Ruul snorts indignantly.

"But, he's not wrong. We could use an extra pair of hands aboard the ship. Especially ones more...precise. What do you say? Want to explore Prism aboard the biggest ship you've ever seen?"

Wella's still a little frozen, stuttering and fidgeting nervously. "I...I...but...what about...and..."

"We're not bad people, Wella." Freyja speaks up, trying to keep Lisa from grabbing anything. "Isaac is a good man and a fine captain." She smiles sweetly.

"I......o...okay." Wella eeks out, her face is bright red and you think she's actually sweating now. "I...y-yes! Thank you! I...thank you! I need to pack my things! I have to...my shop...forget it, they can handle it! I'll meet you at your ship! I need to pack! I need to say goodbye! Oh gosh, what should I bring...everything, I guess?! Ah! Wella has 5 utility automatons. Most of her work is smaller, more intricate things since everyone else sells the heavy-duty stuff.
>>
>>46405203
paint, combat robos, sentry robos, maybe even decoy robos disguised to look like us/navy soldiers
>>
>>46405352
Make sure you list quantities.

You have about 30,000G to spend.
>>
>>46405203

3 30 gallon sets, 2 for color scheme, 1 for reserve/angling for wholesale discounts
1 decoy robot, focus on humanlike posture/gait and profile, but can take heavy hits and sounds an alarm when it does. Hopefully we can dress this up as Freyja, but there are other possibilities.
3 sentry robots, whose job is keeping eyes both out and in where we cannot.
2 utility bots for each of the engineers, styled to their preferences. Basically walking toolboxes for them. We will never buy them new ones, so don't go breaking them.
1 utility bot for Freyja/her daughter
5 combat automatons
>>
>>46405376
hmmm...what's our pay rate? weekly, biweekly, what? I'm trying to budget this shit. Have to account for future crewmembers and all that.
>>
>>46405376
So all the paint we need, 5 combat autos, and I don't think we need utility autos.

Still gotta save money for crewmen, if we can find them.
>>
>>46405203
Are the automatons we have now all utility?
>>
>>46405512
Aye.
>>
>>46405487
An automaton that specific would be a custom build and cost extra. It can be done, but not right away.
Automatons are pretty simplistic and do what they're told. They can be given guns and told "shoot X", but they're not particularly good guards. They're more there to fill gaps in crews. There are army-grade combat machines that are more intelligent and more designed for tht, but those are extremely hard to come by outside of actual armed forces suppliers. The government doesn't want people using anything that dangerous and have banned their construction outside military facilities. But hey, you stole one bit of government-owned property, what's to say you can't do it again?
>>46405497
You haven't really set any pay rate. The crew you have now are there for either necessity or want.
>>46405512
Yes, they're all utility for now, but you can have Wella or Ruul alter them if need be.
>>
>>46405607
Hm, so 60 gallons of paint. And maybe 10 combat automatons. That'll leave us with plenty of money for later.

>>
>>46405703
alright then, nix on the sentries.

The decoy will be that much trouble? Is it because Feryja's profile is.....obviously.....female or something?

We don't actually need face and skin to match, just the general shape that we can cover with clothes, like the uniforms we have. If that still takes time, then nevermind.
>>
I think the general plan seems to be paint and some combat bots, but in differing quantities, you might just want to put it to a vote AM.
>>
>>46405864
Pretty much agree with this.
>>46405708
Sounds good, though.
>>
>>46405784
They're pretty much normal automatons but more geared for combat situations. They'd need to be given actual firearms to fight. Which you have plenty of, mind you.
>>46405816
It's not trouble so much as you're asking for an unorthodox custom build. Most of them are just utility with the occasional combat for protection from pirates, bandits and the like. Something like that isn't common. So it's doable, but would need to be made from the ground up.
>>46405864
Alright, so 60 gal of paint, black and grey (600G).

You manage to locate two cooks with enough interest in leaving home for a job aboard your vessel. You talk them to 100G a week (50G each). They admit they're mostly used to cooking tougher meats that come from the wood, but shouldn't have too much problem learning normal food. Do you agree?

Also, anything else? I've heard some talk of painting over the symbols.

As for a navigator, I'll save you some time and tell you you don't really need one. You have a decent map system and flying a straight-shot with little air traffic outside of large cities helps avoid any real need for that.

>>46406709
Alright, your automatons are set to their task and begin using the paint to cover the symbols. They are tireless and shall work through the night, then return inside once finished.
>>46406715
Absolutely. However, they are nurse sharks to your great white. Most are unorganized to the point where they focus mainly on simple freighters or personal vessels and wouldn't go anywhere near anything of your size.
There was a famous group of pirates, even you heard of them. They were ruled by a woman who's real name is unknown, but titles were numerous. The Pirate Queen, the She-Dragon of the Eastern Skies, The Cruel Beauty of the Clouds and so on. Quite a number of her crew are in Graeg, but after a mass assault by the Navy, she's been missing, either dead, in hiding or possibly even imprisoned. The news of her defeat simply listed her as "routed".

You turn in for the night, the clanking sounds of the engineers and clicking of dozens of automatons removing the symbols of Porhyra's pride and joy lull you to sleep. You admit it's horribly annoying for a while, but you get used to it.

Come morning, you're once again awoken by the rude shaking of Ruul. You need to start locking the door to your quarters.

"Captain, you're gonna wanna come out ASAP. We got a problem...I think. Hard to tell with these people."

You make your way outside to be greeted by the same militia led by the old woman once again. Still locked and loaded like before. You wave sleepily at them.

"Good morning, 'captain'." she says, though this last bit feels a little condescending. "You slept well, I hope?"

"Well enough, I suppose. Though all that noise was pretty rough. Something I can do for you?"

"Well, I can think of one. Care to explain why you've instructed your automatons to cover up all the symbols of the Porphyran Navy from your ship. I was under the assumption that you and your crew was part of the military. Have I been fooled?"

Looks like the jig is up. What do you tell her?

This. Emphasize that we're not really trying to do the whole 'y'arr give us your plunder' mean air pirate deal, and we'll still be completely above board with any business/money dealings (we're a trader, not a shyster), rather I just wanted to piss off the Navy because fuck those guys they fucked me over one time too many.
>>
>>46407323
And I'm not a pirate either, zero acts of piracy have been commited in this ship. Unless you count its initial theft as piracy. But I don't, because they already stole all my caravan's goods, so it was more a trade.
>>
>>46407241

>>46407390

And if they ask why we lied to them, just say 'plausible deniability if anyone comes asking. You didn't know we weren't military, so you could say you were just doing your duty and being loyal without getting into trouble. Hell, if you want, you can say we never had this conversation at all.
>>
>>46407397
They haven't really shown much either way. Nobody really bothers them since they're in the "dangerous part of town" and don't do much beyond kill monsters and criminals trying to attack their town. They've welcomed you, but don't really seem to fear/despise you like Saffron did.

Alright, looks like "play it straight" is the way you want to go. With a dash of "hey, the gub'ment. fuck 'em, am I right?".

"Hey, just because I'm not military doesn't mean I'm not a Captain. And I might have stolen this ship. But it's not like anyone likes the Navy anyway." you say, giving your best "roguish smirk and shrug". "Besides, I've been avoiding doing your typical 'piratey' stuff so far, haven't I? I'm not here to attack anyone or plunder any booty. In fact, beyond the initial theft of this thing, I haven't done anything of the sort yet."

She eyes you for a moment, several of the other townspeople are anxiously gripping their weapons and scowling. They're ready for a fight and not afraid of you at all. "You're not here to ransack anything? No raping or burning of our home?"

"Not unless you want me to." you say jokingly, trying to break the tension.

Another silence. She then waves off the townspeople and they lower their weapons, dispersing back to the wall or their homes. "I'm gonna take your word for it, pirate. But know this, if you try anything, my people are more than capable of defending themselves. We live near the hive of your 'queen' and deal with your types on a regular basis, fancy stolen ship or not." she sighs, "But so long as you behave and bring some much-welcome money, I can't kick you out. Wella seems to like you well enough and she's a sweet girl. Speaking of, while I can't tell her what to do or where to go, you treat her right, you hear me? We do right by our own."

"Will do, ma'am!" you say, giving a mock salute. "Though I can't speak for Ruul and how much work he'll have her doing."

Is there anything else you want to do in town, ask the village elder or purchase, or would you like to move on? And if so, where?

"...No, seriously, I'm not really a pirateish sort. I don't even know who this 'queen' is." you say.

"You're living life on the wrong side of the law and you don't even know the legendary She-Dragon of the Eastern skies?" she asks, incredulous.

"I mean...I've heard OF her, but..."

She sighs. "Kids these days. In one ear, out the other." she leans on her makeshift cane, chin and hands resting on the butt, "For a good seven, eight years she terrorized the entirety of the Eastern half of Prism with her armada of pirates and flag ship, 'Pain on Wings'. Terrible name if you ask me, but she was the pirate. Most people were afraid of going anywhere past Vert, and even that was a stretch. She owned anything above sea level and would kill anyone who thought differently. People begged the military for years to do something, but the damn fools were too proud or cowardly to do anything about it. Finally, after maybe the hundredth freight ship went missing, round about three years ago, they decided to act. New admiral, name'a Vossel, decided to do something. Gathered up his own armada, ships as far as the eye could see. Swept across the land and grounded anything with so much as an iffy registration number.
Guy's ruthless, but efficient. Big hero, lots of medals and so forth. Now whatever survived of her crew is in Graeg. And that's how the bastards keep getting out and why the riots happen so often. They're looking for her. She's in there, son. Somewhere hidden. And I'll be damned if they don't reach her before long. They can barely keep the place together as it is and have left entire sections without guard. So now we get to deal with their idiocy." she frowns at this. Clearly her people have enough on their plate without runoff from the prison.

"Anything else you want to know about the patron saint of piracy, or are you going to leave my town in peace?"

The first half of your journey goes by without incident. Smooth sailing, if not a bit boring. However, that changes rather drastically the second half. Freyja is the first to notice something. She has a concerned look on her face, turning this way and that, as if she's looking for something.

"Something the matter?" you ask, noticing she's holding Lisa a little tighter than usual.

"Fear..." she gasps lightly, "Fear and...and pain. I...there's some kind of horrible feeling, like something with a massive magical footprint is terrified...trying to escape something, but that's it. It's far below us, I think. Maybe on the ground?"

You check the windows around you, using binoculars to get a look down back on terra firma. You can't see anything at first, then catch something you think is your eyes playing tricks on you. But you stare closely and you're certain. The dust cloud, the turned up soil...

"That...that little forest is...moving somewhere..."

Is PQ going to run tommorow?
More descriptions of the ship would be nice, and give us the option more to do stuff on the ship, though today was pretty write in heavy so whatever. But in a quest about a flying fortress it'd be nice to get a bit more information about said flying fortress.

As for the ship itself, what about it would you like to know? This image is actually a pretty close approximation of what it looks like. Covered in guns and scary as fuck. Does that help?
>>46408548
It has room for 40. It can deploy as many pilots as you have for them. Though before you ask, no, automatons are not sophisticated enough to pilot them. Also the fighter bay is currently disabled and needs to be brought online by Ruul/Wella.
As for flight, mana engines. Imagine jet engines on the underside, but powered by pure magical energy. Which is why it is helpless without Freyja, who emits raw mana like a nuclear reactor emits radiation. And because of this unique trait, Tul as a species has been pretty much hunted to near extinction, making them the first sentient race in Prism history on the endangered species list.

Oh and just an FYI, nobody said you guys needed to stick solely to The Beast. If you want to make your own pirate armada sometime down the line, go for it. You'll need to gather an army of pirates as well as either build or "liberate" some ships, but it's very much possible.
>>
>>46408628
Would I be correct in assuming that the inside of the ship is like Battlestar Galactica, with more magic and clockwork and copper pipes and less computers and being in space? Or is the inside designed like a literal fortress?
>>
>>46408664
Yeah, you'd be correct. The term "Flying Fotress" is more of a classification of ship than description. Though it certainly could serve the role if needed considering it's heavy armor and armaments.
>>
>>46408706
Consdiering we were a trader what was our main route we took, and do we know anyone that could help us out.
>>
>>46408722
That's a good question. Do we got any friends or contacts that'd be willing to help a failed(?) revolutionary?
>>
>>46408722
You usually kept to the Western cities, Porphyra, Ghel, Vert and occasionally Saffron, though trade in Vert and Saffron tends to be a little difficult, as high-profile merchants and trade companies tend to get monopolies on places known for exports like that. Hueits is in the middle of an undead infested swamp, so there's no way you'd get there. Ao is too far East, which is rife with bandits on land and pirates in the air. Likewise with Blakkaz until recently.
As for contacts, you were pretty small time. You made a few passing friendships with other traders and the like, but nothing so rock solid as to get anyone to drop everything and join your crew of fugitives. You met a few in Ghel, but we know what happened to them.
>>
>>46408772
Hm, I feel like we do need some more crew. Right now we have 2 cooks, 2 engineers, a very Impressive and Respectable Captian, a little girl, and a living magic battery notelf.
We need some more martial focused people to help out. And then some boring normal crewmen to do everything else that automatons can't do.
>>
>>46408872
I know a certain prison city that is rife with martial-focused ladies and gentlemen.
>>
>>46408890

Or hell, you stole the biggest ship ever made, you're the captain now. Use your charisma to keep them in line. There's more than one way to skin an inmate.
>>
>>46408938
Can Freyja do magic stuff that isn't just powering the ship, like shooting fireballs at people? That could come in handy.
>>

While she is powering the ship, she is tapped out. Every bit of magic she controls goes into powering the thing. When she's not, she could topple buildings if she wanted to. However, she refuses to harm others. The Tul have a very strict moral code and belief that all sentient life is sacred that they abide by. Which is also part of how they were so readily driven to near extinction. Imagine a Buddhist tiger.

She can do other stuff, but would never do anything that would harm that of another intelligent being. She was okay with the angler in the lake, that's just a big fish, but you could not convince her to kill a person.

If the massive cannon is powered by magic, then how can we ever fire it if she won't hurt anyone?

The cannon is not a direct action of her own. Powering of the ship is akin to someone using your hair to start a fire in an orphanage. It's a terrible thing, but not directly your fault. What I was referring to was her actually giving the direct order to fire on the Queen of the Lake. She is simply the batter, she cannot control how you use that.

She still wouldn't be too happy if we used it to wipe out an entire town though. Does she still emit all the magic when she's asleep?

No, she certainly would not be too pleased by you doing anything to harm innocents.
Yes, the magic is passive. Sorta like breathing. Humans breathe in oxygen and breathe out CO2, she inhales in the ambient ether of the world and exhales raw mana.

exactly why we need to configure it for accuracy utmost, to reduce potential casualties and maybe even have non-lethal applications if Wella is a lot better at this than we all expected.

>It's simple really: you just need a big, BIG gear and tiny, TINY teeth!

Years of playing ship fleet games makes me like this. Ship customization is already happening, mothership is a fucking battlecarrier/battlestar, and you can get more ships?
I will watch this quest, and make sure that we build up the fleet of privateer/trader, aligned to none yet profits from all.
