Magic isn't cutting it. You just aren't strong enough alone, so you instead decide to get some help. With Noh's help, you drag your battered body to the glade-that-is-going-to-be-a-temple and lean on your staff, calling to Isu. With the aid of the goddess of wild things, you have a plan. It isn't too long before you are aware of her presence. It seems all the goddesses of the wild mess with your son's heart... Maybe it's just his age. He doesn't describe her to you, but she has to look at least a little more human than when you last had eyes to see her with. You plead for her aid in healing you and she nods.
"Of course, in exchange for an offering, as is only right."
"Name it."
"Blood of an animal, like you gave Tengr... And a few of those bright beads that flash like fire, to make a necklace."
"It will be done."

In return, Isu takes your head between her hands and whispers to you the secrets you sought. Long have your people known to use dock to soothe a nettle's sting; spiderwebs to bind a wound; chewed willow-bark to ease a headache... And Isu confirms to you far more than you suspected. Some plants are natural, some are magical and some can have their natural properties enhanced by magic, some to cure and some to harm and some to grant strange properties.

With Noh as your eyes and swift-running hands, you mash together leaf and root and berry and not a little magic into a poultice and potion smelling of trampled summer grass. Before long, you start to feel much better. It is not an instant cure, not for such a grevious wound, but you are on the mend... And even better, Noh seems to have learned a little something. He may have scant talent for magic, but such craft only requires a little magic itself...

>You have gained the trait 'Druidic Learning'!
>You can now use plants to create potions and poultices that have various effects. Each potion requires a stat check and more advanced ones may call for rare ingredients.

It is now late summer. What will you do?

You all thought I was gone for good, didn't you? Well I won't pretend there weren't issues, but this isn't the place for that.

Tried to do RWB a favor and get him able to write a character that can seen in color.

Let's start working on that necklace
>>
>>46616032
This and practice with making basic healing potions to heal our self.

This helps us training our son.
Healing our self.
Massive trading potential.

This won overwhelming support last time. everyone rolled for it with a 1d10+6 but we didn't know the bonus with the new druid learning.
>>
>>46616281
I mean, what you could do is focus on having him head over to the strangers and get a group of their people to join our family/pack like we did with the herders.
That is a form of unifying the valley. And once that happens we can keep including more and more people into our family/tribe. Thrym will get his vision back, and we accomplish a request of the gods. Bang out hat temple and we've resolved a few major points.
I think having our hunter daughter marry the strongest son of the chief of the Sunish should tie them to us fine.still coming to our family
>>
>>46616786

That might not be a bad idea, we need to be careful to phrase it the right way though, she will be quite strong when she comes back and it will be up to the men to win her hand. I would imagine this would attract some attention from Mesut's kin as well and from the Sunish given their insistence on strength

Also it's good to see you back RWB
>>
Good to see a good turn-out today. Okay, votes counted.

>>46616281
You guys know I was making a joke when I complained about that, right?
>>
The clan's mood is tense. Your brush with death has left them on edge still. If you die, who will speak with the gods and tell them what needs to be done to appease them when they are angry, or to bargain with them for blessings? You get asked repeatedly, to please bring the gods closer to your people and to find more for them. There's a re-newed interest in the Heavenly Gods as well, as many see them as the 'easier' path than handing over food and valuables to the Wild Gods. You know better, but don't have much success convincing anyone.

With you still hobbled, you rely upon Noh to run some errands for you. You describe to him exactly the plants you need and he sprints off to gather them. He also helps you to the edge of the forest and a makeshift stone, to offer a goat's life and the copper beads to Isu, as your part of the bargain. Your son watches intensely as you crush the berries, leaves, twisted roots and seeds on a flat stone and powder bark in your fingers. The resulting poultice is faintly green and smells of decaying plants, but you mix it with water and carefully heat it over a small fire, as you speak the words you know grant it power and letting your quiet voice carry power that awakens what little there was in the reagents. The resulting potion is bitter and unpleasant, but you can immediately feel the pain receding, little by little and the bones slowly starting to knit back together.

There is a little of the potion remaining, but you lack the means to store it properly and it spoils fast. You will need to make it again to finish your healing.

Lets try and make this potion for for healing and be done with it soon.
I assume That we're also using our healing magic along with the poultice? Teaching our son healing magic along with the druidic learning? Would we need to roll?
>>
>>46617657
This.
Do we need to train him several times or did we teach him all that we know regarding the druidic learning.
I assume it's like an alchemist that then imbues the potion with magic?
>>
>>46617540
make the potion for healing again

does the person making the potion actually have to be able to do magic, or is more the words themselves?
Can we make a potion to give start to magical abilities?
>>
>>46617992 (me)
Also, could we start an herb garden of the different plants?
>>
>>46617540

Continue traning Noh and make the potion again

Seconding the idea for the herb garden though now wouldn't be the best time to start it

We need to make that sacrifice to Soqed again since Sara is still not back

Did the Traders get their cart or no?
>>
>>46618081
I can't remember but i think we decided to keep the cart
>>
>>46618200

I think the plan this year was to trade it off to them for some major rewards, possibly some donkeys of our own, it'll have to wait for next year though but it does give us more time to work out the kinks in it
>>
>>46618200
I'll have to look back. I've been half-assing these threads so badly, I've not even recorded what you have, or the names of the gods-!

Votes called.
>>
>>46618081
A part of me feels like this year's offering could offend Soqed and/or Sera, showing that we don't think she can take care of herself, even with all her training. The other part thinks that if we don't give the offering, the omniscient spirit that controls everything from the shadows RWB will make us pay dearly and kill our daughter.
>>
>>46618288
I remember the discussion turning to discussing with them if they wanted us to make them carts, i.e them placing a order rather than us flat out selling our only cart. Point being we would keep that cart both for display of concept and to increase temple construction speed.
>>
>>46618427
We're paying this year basically to keep soqued from killing her/leaving her in the wild.
>>46618081
why would the traders get carts? We should trade for it if anything. I can't remember us ever giving up carts.
>>46618430
I do not remember that. I guess I may need to check if we actually spoke to them about it.
>>
>>46618544

Definitely, I was never under the impression we were giving up our only cart I just don't think we ever got around to discussing the carts with the traders since we were so rudely interrupted by a bull auroch
>>
>>46618544
That's what I'm getting at, we're paying to keep her safe on her journey out of the wild, as opposed to letting her rely on her skills to find her own way back. I'm not saying we shouldn't sacrifice, I'm just tossing my thoughts out there.
>>
>>46618694

I say this is the last year for it, I am halfway expecting her to be standing at the usual spot for the sacrifice when we get there because seriously it's been a fucking year, she should be back
>>
>>46618755
If you guys knew what I know, you would hate me right now...
>>
>>46618786

She's dead now isn't she.

We sent her off, she failed a background roll a month back and has been dead this entire time. Soqed is just using us for the sacrifices
>>
>>46618694
>"Not so fast," the wolf god cuts you off. "As long as you grant me these offerings, your girl-child is safe, but she has a long way to go before she leaves the Wild. She has learned much, but some peril may yet befall her..."
"You mean your pack may yet attack her?" you frown, your fists balling at your sides.
"All beasts need to eat," Soqed smirks. As he is still in the form of a giant wolf, the effect is quite unsettling. "Wolves and others. And the Wild is a confusing place. She could take a long time to return to this world."

I just wonder how long its going to take. hopefully not to many more for him to sqeeze free food out of us. Hopefully she learns a thing or two during this time.
At least our other daughter is being taught a shit ton of magic.
>>46618755
I hope so And I would think that to be the case.

And as for the donkey I think we could trade a cart for some knowledge and a donkey at least.

Or we could try and capture an auroch, with some back up and the auroch's god blessing to take 1 or two.
>>46618786
we shall see..
>>
>>46618812

I would aim for at least a breeding pair of donkeys and would vote resoundingly no as far as approaching the aurochs again
>>
>>46618786
Don't play these games with me Britfag.
>>
>>46618863
Don't think Donkeys can breed?
I just think that who ever voted for it didn't think it through. If we get a blessing from the auroch's ruling god we should be fine. As we did we the goats. With others for help. Note that when we pray to the god we can note that it would go towards building the temple faster which is exactly the reason.
So the god isn't likely to say no. Along with giving us a possible large pack that can reproduce. We also have an excess of wild grain we can use to feed them.
>>
>>46618954
Donkeys can breed, Mules can't.
>>
>>46618954
Donkeys can breed, mules can't
>>
>>46618954

Donkeys can, mules can't

Not a bad idea there, would still like to give us some time away from the Auroch's, I would be less worried about being killed by them and more worried about being killed by Beren
>>
>>46619027
>>46619032
Ha hivemind
>>
>>46618954
Donkeys can breed, you are thinking of mules.

Also i feel we should get the gods help with the whole auroch taming idea, maybe point out that we do the same for some of the wolf gods children/disciples/things
>>
>>46619046
>>46619032
>>46619027
Apparently tg knows mules
>>
>>46618812
I remember RWB refrenacing Irish Mythos and if that is what I think it is that means time distortions, she may return in hundreds of years and only have aged a few seasons or the opposite may return soon and be a haggered old lady, ither way your little girl is not gonna be the same and we may not even get to see her again....

We really need to keep Noah's training going keep his mind working and show him all we know.

Part of me is tempted to suggest that we maybe train him to be the Speaker for the Heavenly Gods and have one of our daughters return as the Voices of the Wild Gods, it splits the load but keeps it in house.

How is our Waterborn Child doin anyways?
>>
>>46619049
Hive Queen Quest confirmed not dead?
>>
>>46619232
Mhm, I get you. Well I like this drudic learning we've picked up. To say the least our son will learn that and magic. His magic training is slow going but that may be due to him being young. Also he has learned to use magic way before our Mc did. So even his minimum should be more than our current MC. We do a lot of the heavy lifting so our kids don't have to, or at least have it easier to accomplish what we did.
Like our family has goats, largest in the tribe. So we're well off.
Before thrym dies the temple should be done. And we should also accomplish uniting the valley. And if possible I wouldn't mind changing the deal
Say giving our son more x instead of healing our eyes.
Shit if we keep training drudic learning we could likely get our appearance back. And heal some eye damage before we die. Helping out the future generations if they overdose on magic.
>>
>>46620368
Say directly give a boon to our children that carries on. Making our line less susceptible to disease and a minor regeneration.healing small cuts/scratch in a night and such. Or just a more magical line of heirs.
>>
>>46620439
maybe...just maybe what if when Tyrm is close to the end of his time...we go off somewhere secret and give our last moments to the gods... we use our self as a sacrifice to secure a great boon for our bloodline...

Or maybe we can talk to our Nila about doing what she did to our stillborn son?
>>
>>46620624

Yeah I definitely want to be put to rest in the river, also that last moment with the Gods would be a sweet place to introduce the Heavenly God of Death

Speaking of which once we are up on our feet again we should talk to Nila about Ebba
>>
The second time doesn't make the concoction taste any nicer. Noh is still a great help to you though and while you suspect his magical abilities will forever remain minimal; if he learns well, he should still be able to still create potions and poultices. He might one day turn out to be a passable druid, if not a shaman like yourself. Regardless, the potion is starting to have an effect as time passes and your bones have a chance to press together again and mend through processes you have no comprehension of.

Fuck, I am so sorry everyone, but I need to take 7 hours sleep or so. I'll get back to this as soon as I wake up; late nights are catching up with me...

Your son's interest is sadly waning slightly, but he at least realises that learning druidic skills would be extremely helpful to him in the future and he's glad to spend time with you, carefully watching and listening as you explain how to coax out the native magic within the reagents he brings you. It's a lesson you barely understand yourself, so honestly, the both of you are learning, even as you teach.

You're lucky you're still young enough to be strong. Day by day, you can feel your bones pressing together and sealing up. It's a curious sensation and you have a strong feeling that if the potion hadn't deadened the entire side of your body from your chest down, you'd be senseless with agony, but thankfully, you are spared that much. By the time the harvest is due to start, you are almost fullyrecovered and can once again move without problems. The potion's work isn't total... You don't think anything you can currently do can heal you entirely, but what remains shouldn't trouble you over-much.

It is now late fall and the harvest is coming in.

I would work on something else. This being the season of harvest we have less workers available.
I'd be up for trying to improve some of the cart's problems. Don't remember what the dice are for crafting. We should have Elia help us out this time around. Since he is good at sculpting and arts he should help designing a new/better or improvement on it.
>>
>>46631132
Didn't we roll well and solve most, if not all, of the problems with our cart design?

Either way, sooner the temple is done the sooner our power base solidifies. Not to mention that with the bonuses we will get from the wild gods with it will make most future actions easier!
