Alright this is the continueation of this thread
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/46748328/
We come from the planet know as Serik-Lambda, it's a place where the poles are as cold as Fenris and the equator is like Catachan. It is a place where two very different cultures, have to live together to survive. But most importantly it is the home world of the artillery regiment known as the Serikkan Arbalists.
>>
Here are some things we can try to figure out:
>What is our culture like (we already have an idea but we can work with it more)
> what is a plasma ballistae (all I got is some kind of cannon)
>>
Herbalists? The Emperor doesn't condone this heresy.
>>
>>46766766
Arbalists were users of giant crossbows in back medieval times.

>>
I sense potential with this. Also what do we have for the cultures in the planet so far?
>>
>>46766989
One of them is known as the New Nordycs, they used to live in the temperate polar areas before they were frozen over, now they live on the jungles borders.

We haven't really named the other group of people, but they were mostly tribal living inside the jungles and worshipping the emperor in their own weird way.

the two peoples had to work together during a daemonic incursion, but they managed to throw the daemons back into the warp.

They don't really respect each other as much as they maybe should.
>>
>>46767053
Read a bit from the other thread, and saw that the jungle people spoke something called Amzon tongue, so why not just call them Amzons?
>>
>>46767236
I dont ser Way not.
>>
Ok, how about politics? Are the two people living on the planet have different ways to govern themselves? How do they govern themselves after the freezing and the attack?
>>
>>46767367
I know that the planetary gorvernor is required to have seen military service, other than I don't know.
>>
>>46766766
That's arborist anon.
>>
What do we know about them? And maybe we shouldn't really try and rip-off blatantly other cultures, it bores.
>>
>>46767400
This is what was written on the previous thread about langauges:

>New Nordyc
This language says to originate from early settlers on this planet, that are said to hail from the aincent nation of Nordyc on old Terra before the age of strife and unification wars. But the old language is long gone, but a new one has arisen over the years and the only thing left from the old Nordyc is the dialect and a few common words for thing like; human, food, sleep, tools, etc. Those are still spoken in the old tounge and has not been subject to change. The people who speak this langage are also regarded as humble, but agressive and defencive when needed.

>Amzon tounge
This language is also said to hail from old Terra, or more specificly from the aincent superpower of Hy Braseal. Their langauge is a complex one that has little in common to the old langauge they once spoke. And the speakers of the Amzon tounge have lost all records of the old langauge that they spoke, so no one can be certain to what thier old langauge was called.
Amzon is a very fast spoken langauge, made for a fast and vigilant people, as they live in the dangerous jungles. And in the jungles, if you need to say something, then you better say it fast.

The fast spoken nature of the Amzon tounge has made interactions with the Nordyc speakers hard and have at some points resulted in bloodshed and war.

>Voidtounge
Basicly any non native language
>>
What about their crime rates, two thirds of the regiment are criminals, so far as I can see.
>>
>>46767613
Currupt arbiters/nobels?
>>
>>46767646
I don't know, the arbites are supposed to be our allies.
>>
>>46767613
what if they are more like forces labour than real criminals?
>>
>>46766765
Plasma Ballistae are stable forms of plasmatech, now considered archaic and superceded by more destructive and compact weapons, they remain popular with the crews who still have them in service.

The plamsa is energised in the central body of the weapon, which is largely cylindrical. This is designed to contain the energised plasma indefinitely, held within the safety of overlapping power fields.

A magno-impeller field is generated by a ring that circles the barrel. This ring is attached to a spring device, like a massive primitive bow. The ring can be drawn back down the barrel by means of a motorised winch or in some models, a hand crank.

When released, the bow mechanically returns the ring to the end of the barrel and the impeller field forces the energised plasma out of the weapon and towards the enemy.

The muzzle velocity is determined by the mechanical torque exerted by the bow.

So launches giant blobs of superheated plasma upon the enemy? Nice!

What natural resources do you think Serik-Lambda has? Beucase I imagine that ore inudstry or maybe even ice exports to desert or dead worlds would be profitable for the planet and useful for the tithe?

>>
The planet Serik-Lambda was subject to sever deamonic fuck up back in early M33 that was of such magnitude that is knocked the planet out of its previous nice stable orbit with its nice climate into a slightly further one which pushed the climate into a permanent ice age from which it has never and probably never will recover from. The axial tilt was also knocked from where it should have been. The southern pole is in permanent day whilst the north is a land of ice and night.

The ice caps started to migrate further and further south year after year and the glaciers marched unstoppably from their mountains and the winters got harsher and the summers milder and the ecology of the planet was almost completely destroyed. Needles to say it lost it's status of agri-world practically over night.

It was only by the grace of arch-magus Salathiel Pharanopolis of the Adeptus Biologicus that Serik-Lambda is even conventionally habitable today.

That particular magus was well known to the Priesthood of Mars, indeed having originated from that holy world. He was old, even by the standards of their ancient ranks. It was not uncommon back in those ancient days for the eldest of elders to remember days before the coming of the God-Emperor but Salathiel was considered old even by them and few if any could remember a time without his presence.

What drove such a venerable holy man from holy ground to a far flung and relatively insignificant world was probably the constant accusations of techno-heresy and blasphemy against the flesh. Many of these accusations were true although what counts as heresy varies greatly.

But for Serik-Lambda the pilgrim magus was never anything less than a saviour.
>>
>>46768938
It was arch-magus Salathiel Pharanopolis and his disciples that twisted and spliced and cut and pasted the genes of uncountable species of plant and animal and less noticeable things. He made from that dying ecosystem a new and living world. He went for years without sleep, stopping briefly only to eat and drink and always working.

When asked why he would eventually answer that the world was to be his final legacy. One good deed to count against his earlier abominations.

He was dying and he needed one good deed to be remembered for.

The great yggdrasil trees with their hyper-diamond reinforced trunks, anti-freeze laced sap, entire food chains of tailored bacteria and invertebrates around their gargantuan roots and edible fruits miles above the permafrost are probably his most obvious miracle.

It is for this crazy magus the reason that the trees and the ice touch with no intermediary ground and frost forms in a strange jungle. Not so much a rainforest as a snowforest no less full of life.

And they never found his body. For all he talked of his death its possible it was merely a staged performance to throw the heresy hunters of red Mars from his trail and vanish amongst the stars. One day, so the folk stories of Serik-Lambda say, one day he will return.
>>
>>46768938
Nice. I think he would have some aliases what with being the literal savior of the world.

>Salathiel Pharanopolis who is best described in these posts:

>>46769024
Can we come with any other important characters?
>>
>>46769383
I will just throw out some names, ranks and titels of people so others can fluff them out

>Sergeant Cecilia Vicario of the 4th Serikkan Valkyrie squadron

>Engineseer Mikael DeTrué

>Admiral Horold of the Imperial navy

>Administratum Sage Kenneton Yttger
>>
Engineseer Mikael DéTrue was the man who located a hidden mechanicus depot during second chaos incursion of serik, inside the depot were hundreds of Ryza pattern plasma ballistae. It was with these that the people of Serik were able to drive the chaos forces out of their world.
>>
>>46769383
Sister Danika Navratit who heads the Imperial mission to convert the heathens to the True and Incorruptible scriptures of the Thorian Creed.

Or at least that's how it started out.

During one of the deamonic resurgences about 20 years ago she and her honour guard went toe to toe with a particularly nasty warp spawned abomination. Her thrice blessed blade would not bite into its foul hide and her inscribed bolt shells glanced off it harmlessly and the prayers on her lips did nothing to slaw its slaughter of her sisters of the cloth.

As the abomination stood over her broken form with its cursed axe raised she knew the end was here and her faith was found wanting.

At that moment a ceramic incense brazier taken from a street corner shrine came sailing through the air and smashed into the side of the deamons head accompanied by many obscene words and insults.

With the last of her strength Sister Navratit turned her head and with her remaining eye beheld a lowly PDF battle preacher, grubby vestments, unkempt bears, lowest bidder stub gun and eyes that burned with hate and faith.

She lost consciousness. It later transpired that the preacher beat the shit out of the fiend with what she considered heathen and worthless war hymns in a lowly and tribal language in the name of the Emperor.

She adopted the beliefs of the locals and severed ties to her old order and founded a new one. She and her sisters are now the heavy hand against blasphemy on Serik-Lambda.

Let's focus a bit more of the structure of the planet. We know that the govenor rules the planet. But does he rule it all by himself? I want to think that he has like a small senate or something filled with mayor/senetors that rule over various distrcits aroudn the planet.

Perhaps it's something himself put in palce in order to bring the New Nordycs and the Amzons together?

There is the governor.

Then there is a representative from each of the biggest settlements be they equatorial or polar. They make up the administrative body in that they bring concerns to the governor's office and he occasionally issues them orders to enact. They are know as the Citizen's Quorum.

For the most part they do whatever the fuck they want and only bring concerns to the High Office should it be something that goes beyond their poorly defined borders.

The governor is advised by a representative from the Imperial Institution present on his planet; Commisariant, Arbiters, Imperial Guard, Mechanicus but not Ecclesiarchy as that would piss off the local preachers. Of the non-Imperial institution there is the High Priest, Grand Architect, Agriculture Minister, Headmaster Supreme, PDF and SDF Marshal and Commerce Patriarch/Matriarch.

They make up the Chairman's Board of which the governor is Chairman. They decide what happens on a global rather than local scale.
>>
>>46770076
I think we decided in the first thread, that the governor also was the leader of the pdf, and that they had to have been in it for a while in order to get their current job.
>>
Should there be a particular recurring deamonic asshat that keep trying to conquer Serik-Lambda?
>>
>>46770796
Maybe a few primitive tribes out in the frozen wasteland have taken up the daemons as gods and tries to bring them back?
>>
>>46769951
The Mocoh plant is often found in the southern jungles of Serik-Lambda, it is usually used in tea as a weak sedative to keep soldiers from panicking. One can extract the sedating essence of the Mocoh plant in order to create a powerfull sedative, and the Inquisition enjoys an exclusive trade agreement for highly concentrated samples.
>>
The Emp's Peace.

COuld this regiment integrate beliefs into how they operate their cannons? Perhaps the troopers inscribe their squad's Shells with Prayers. Perhaps FIring the cannon is viewed as the best way to praise the Emps, That thunderous roar reaching into the heavens to give comfort to the God Emperor, that his Children are forever fighting the darkness.
>>
>>46770927
I think we use plasma cannons? Otherwise, I'm all for cathedral cannons
>>
>>46771205
We mostly use basilisks, but we also have these very cool things called plasma ballistae, as explained in this.
>>46767862
>>
>>46771205
Oh, Whoops. Missed that. Perhaps the Armour plates of their Ordinance are inscribed, With intense readings of their work preformed by Regimental Chaplains before the plates are put back onto the cannons. It's a way for the soilders to claim their 'holy work' and bond with the Ordinence ad eachother as Prayr bounds. increasing their cohesion in battle, and their reverence for the maintenance, protection, and respect for the Machine spirit
>>
>>46771257
That could probably work.
>>
>>46771257
Nice. Doodle pad plasma artillery.

Perhaps we can make and fluff out some cities on the planet?
>>
Current governor is Big Mad Balthazar of the Scum of the North tribe. A bear of a man with all the tact of a sledgehammer, social graces of a tidal wave and drinking capacity of a galvanized water tank.

He is also a tactical genius who earned the love of the soldiery with his screwed life loss minimizing strategies, the love of the citizens with his gruff demeanour and basic honesty for a politician and the love of the priesthoods with his bottomless but oddly irrelevant reserves of faith.

He can also make ears bleed with his singing.
>>
Hey all,

In an attempt to give this context and keep interest in another project, would you be interested in putting Serik-Lambda in the Vasenica Sector?
>>46704659

Also, as a thought, should these plasma-ballistae be mounted in a Valdor-type hull? Or are they smaller than that?
>>
>>46773952
I think we should ask the guys in the Vasenica sector thread if there is room for another imperial planet?
>>
>>46773600
I wrote a drinking song for the regiment about Big Balthazar.

Oh Big Mad Balthazar we rise cups in your names

With you we always know that we come home from crusades (drink)

With you we drink and fight and pray and shout

Our plasma burns will turn the damned heretics inside out. (drink)

You never tell a single lie, We know you hate to sin.

When you're around we can feel the Machine spirits grin. (drink)

But you alway tell the truth, no matter who offend.

And now we're out of whiskey the song will have to end. (Finish drink)

Oh Big Mad Balthazar please buy us drinks again
>>

>>
>>46775033
Well considering what I think I've seen, still need a proper summary, enslaving ice Spaniards and jungle people's pressed into service in ships would work
>>
>>46774856
I know it isn't three paragraphs, but I tried my hardest to make it make sense

The planet has been assaulted multiple times by chaos, the first incursion dating back to 33M, this first incursion knocked the planet out of its nice goldilocks field adhering orbit, into something a bit colder.

Did I say a bit? I meant a lot, the polar ice caps stretch all the way down to the subtropical area, but due to the gene manipulation of plants by Magos Salathiel, the equator of the planet is a lush and verdant jungle.

Most of the more civilized people: The new-Nordycs, used to live in large cities in the temperate polar regions before chaos knocked them into a never ending ice age. A more tribal people known as the Amzons lived inside the many jungles at the center of the planets surface, and worshipped the Emperor in a slightly wrong way.

After the first incursion the first incursion the two people begrudgingly had to rely on each other to survive, this was only made possible by governor Elijah the Speaker.

The Regiment is best in artillery vehicles and usually cover them in holy scriptures, and home made purity seals. They also make use of a rare superheavy artillery weapon known as plasma ballistae.
>>
For the planetary features I'm imagining a Last Redoubt style pyramid hive at the North pole. Oldest settlement on the planet the original structure dating back to the DaoT.

The planetary capital is a heavily fortified doom fort built between five of the miles tall watch tower trees.
>>
How would they treat psykers?
>>
>>46775658
Isn't this a naval unit? As in not a regiment at all?

And I would work to simplify the cultural aspects, maybe Vikings and Slavs, or Spaniards and Aztecs.

As for super special weaponry...I think ships count, no?

>Of all the Governor to grace Serik Lambda, Samuel "the Foolish" Gibbens was hailed as one of the more interesting rulers.
>A former adept from Adeptus Terra, 'Sam the Foolish' was described as a small unassuming man. His presence was nearly undetectable and had the charisma of a rock. His first days as Governor was said to be wraught with insults and disregard, as the locals looked down upon his bureaucratic demeanor.
>During his rule, a particularly bad daemonic excursion occurred after Gibbens' first month as Governor. His convoy was caught in an ambush five klicks away from the city. His guard detail were barely holding on when a minor Khornate Daemon leaped over the fray and was about to disembowl the Governor. As described by Sergeant Calhoun: "That monster was the Throned damned meanest sunofabeetch I've seen. It took a running leap, pulping Private Whillis' head, to reach Sam. Sam, bless his foolish heart, took the fookin' city sceptre and bashed the daemon's head in.

writing some fluff, becuase I feel bored

The capital city of Hy-Skand was founded a few years after the planet froze in late M33. It founded and build by the first govenor (self elected mind you) Goran Blaco, also refered to as "Goran the ambitious".

Goran Blaco was also born to a Nordyc father and a Amzon mother. This made him rally more people from both sides when it came to rebuilding their planet.

Now the city of Hy-Skand is a busy hive city with sprawling maglev trains and shirnes dedicated to the Emperor, the machine spririt and even to Goran Blaco.
