/tg/ - Traditional Games

(This Quest will be using a hybrid blend of old 3.5 and Pathfinder rules as I see fit.)

You are a half-dragon from Darastrix Tolgalen: Dragon Island. Long before man, elf, or dwarf, dragons dominated the sky. Their many species squabbled like petty children until a champion of Io (the high god of dragons and basically creator of the world) known as Jennu Ir formed the Council of Wyrms. Through the Council a lasting peace was established for a majority of dragon kind. This peace has lasted for centuries. In fact, this would be the 8000th anniversary of the Council's founding. This celebration lasts a whole year and today marks the third month of Wer Tlushtow.

Your father is a terrifying creature, or so you are told. Because the Wyrm is as reclusive as he is cruel and oppressive to be around. Your father was Bakmada the great Black Wyrm. Which made you a half-black dragon.

Of course that is only half your bloodline?

>What was your mother? (Stick to playable character races, if you can.)

Drow
If that's not available, regular old human mom

We were of the proud and noble warrior race! The GNOMES!
>>
You mother was human and it is her last name that you took once she passed on. On the day of her funeral, an emissary of you father approached you and asked you a question:

"What path do you seek?"

>"I want to prove myself above my blood!" (Divine Path)
>"I want to acquire fame and fortune!" (Rogue Path)
>"I wish to learn about the world!" (Mage Path)
>"I want to crush my foes!" (Warrior Path)

>(You can blend paths to find advanced classes)

You tell the envoy of your father of your choice and you are whisked away to a dark and decrepit bog and are shoved before dark hooded figures. In time, you come to know them your masters. It takes centuries before you come of age and are able to start learning the secrets they guard. They teach what they can before you are returned to your father and, more importantly, the main city of Darastrix Tolgalen, Horn.

We return to the current day: the first day of the third month of Wer Tlushtow. You awake at dawn on the outskirts of the city amid a small, yet thick wood just to the south. How do you prepare for the day's celebration?

>Go to market and buy sweets (your one weakness)
>String together flowers into necklaces and crowns to sell to festival goers (d20 for profession)
>Sleep in.

There is nothing a sacred as a boy and his dog. Or in your case, a dragonoid and his wolf. Both of you are large and imposing, but appearances can be deceiving.

Bleh, is he at least big enough to ride, or can he grow to be as such?

Do I smell the tantalizing hint of hellhound?

Man, I love the idea of a black half dragon druid. A race known for being poisonous and corrupting being super in tune with nature just tickles me.
>>
>>47379253
You decide to start this festival off by greeting one of the few friends you managed to make in Horn in your time here. As usual for you two, you meet in the city square, by your favorite pastry shop. You see them sitting down on their usual stool eating a ring of fried dough covered in melted chocolate. You hail them as you approach greeted by

>a goliath of a bronze-half dragon, dressed in metalworking attire
>a flamboyant human dressed in shining purple, yellow and green
>a demure priestess of black dragon decent, like you.
>A stout Dragonborn etched in ritualistic scars, bearing a platinum medallion

>(pick one)

The hearty looking creature before is Astel of Heart. Normally the apprentice blacksmith live above his work in the neighboring city, but since it is such a short walk, the two of you have been meeting here instead of there for around a year now.

He is a quite, gentle giant (though somewhat air-headed) whose blood is paired with the lumbering Goliaths from distant lands to the Northeast. Currently, he's stuffing his face with the last pastry on the plate. He waves hello, staring at you with his usual, vacant gaze.
>>
>>47379687
"Er... morning." He manages to mumble out. Which is much more than usual.

>Joke about the doughnuts
>Make pleasantries
>Plan for the rest of the say with Astel
>>
>>47379687
>Make pleasantries
Get some pastries of our own, man. Shit's delicious

You place an order at the shop's counter and sit down across from Astel, who begins wiping some of the chocolate off his lips. You ask him about his morning.

"Good. Doughnuts." He murmurs and points to his empty plate. You remind yourself he isn't much of a fan of small talk. Instead, you change the subject to his work. That is the key it seems as his eyes light up.

"Ternog has us apprentices hammering out barding for a noble from the nation of Bakar-Dul far to the North. They sent us some designs as for how they would like the commission. Its not quite the same as creating the whole thing yourself, but the design is interesting, so we don't mind." He fiddled with the plate as the server brings you a plate full of fried dough treats.

"How goes the whole communing with nature thing?" He fires back at your.

>"Eh... it goes."
>"Quite swimmingly"
>"Its actually quite dull. So kind of difficult."
>>
>>47380012
>>"Quite swimmingly"
You could say I'm a natural at it.
>>
>>47380012
>>47380061
"It's easy to figure out, all you have to do is plant your feet and get to the root of the problems. Then just sit back and see the fruits of your labour."
>>
>>47380012
>>"Quite swimmingly"
It's a real 'arbor of love, you could say

Astel groans at the puns, but you grin widely. You were always so proud of your wordplay. Your mother would always say that puns were the signs of an active mind, no matter how bad they are.

"Of all the magicky types I could have been friends with, I find the one who likes terrible puns." He complains, jokingly.

"You'd like them, too, if you ever learned to read." You joke back before the two of you laugh at each other. "But really, things are going great. Meditation can be a little boring, but attuning to nature is easy once you can get a feel for it. Its almost like Zhazh and I can actually talk to each other now." You gesture to the Large wolf creature currently staring between you and the doughnuts with a pitiful expression.

>Have pity on your puppy (give treat)
>Doughnuts are bad for you. (Give meat treat)
>You're terrible, you know that? (Treat later)
>Other
>>
>>47380012
"After spending so long with my roots on the ground working with my Bear hands, I could really stand to Wolf down some grub"
>>
>>47380283

Gotta be responsible
And keep all the sweet shit for ourselves obviously

You give Zhazh a stern look. "You know you can't eat these. Its people food and you know what that does to you." You pull out a portion of an animal carcass and toss it at the oversized canine who happily start devouring it. Astel gives you a confused stare when you turn back to him.

"He thinks he can eat anything. Probably why he's as big as he is. Would you believe I found him like that?" You gesture behind you as Zhazh lies down, knocking over a table in the process.

"So what are your plans for today, Van?" Astel moves to snatch a pastry from your plate, but you swat his hand away.

>"I'm going to visit the Council meeting before the ceremony."
>"I'm gonna go to the festival downtown and partake in a little 'culture'"
>"Probably go back to my woods. You know how I feel about people especially this year."
>>
>>47380553
>>"I'm going to visit the Council meeting before the ceremony."
That's where our dad is, yeah? Should probably pay him a visit, get us some PLOT happening.

>"I'm going to visit the Council meeting before the ceremony."
>>

>>"I'm going to visit the Council meeting before the ceremony."
>>
"I'm going to go to the Council before the ceremony begins." You explain. "Father should be there, and I should probably wish him well at least once this year." Your relationship with your father could probably be described as tenuous. While he was the main catalyst to your current profession, he never truly took an interest in you. You guess that when you have over 4000 children over the course of a millennia or so, a few tend to slip under the radar. Yes, your a little bitter about it. Why do you ask?

Zhazh is lazing about but its starting to cause a small problem for the shopkeepers, so you decide it would be best to get a move on. Astel stands as well, saying he needs to get back to the forge before the ceremony starts and the other apprentices start without him.

You and your faithful, horse-sized wolfhound make for the colossal, dormant volcano where the seat of the Council rests.

[Ending thread for the day. I will probably continue this tomorrow when I have a little more sleep in me.]
