>>Information

This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a twelve year old boy named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.

Rolls are made AFTER an option wins, not during the voting process

I hope everyone has fun.

Time for

>TRUE VIOLENCE.
>>
Master Roshi began training with Goku and Krillin while you made breakfast and talked with Launch. Now that you've finally gone to join them, they are nowhere to be found.

You can't imagine that Master Roshi will be very happy about you missing training. You can make excuses (Launch isn't exactly an easy woman to deal with), but he'll know as well as you do that you could have gone and started training with them, you just chose not to.

You wonder what Master Roshi will say.

You wonder if he'll still train you.

You also think a bit about what Launch suggested; finding your own way and teaching yourself.

>A. Go to town and ask around about Master Roshi

>B. They'll have to come back eventually, wait here

>>C. Take some time to consider training on your own

seems like the only one that isn't a waste of time.
>>
>>47596812
You decide to give some thought to what Launch suggested; training on your own.

You spent years living in the woods alone, so just doing that again wouldn't be much help for you at this point. Still, the world is a big place full of dangerous monsters and strong people. You could probably find someone or something to test yourself against.

You also remember that Bulma offered for you to stay with her in the big city. An unfamiliar place full of people like that could offer some new ways for you to train. And, Bulma's a smart girl, she might even be able to give you some suggestions that would help you.

You also have to consider what doing the same training as Goku and Krillin will mean. Right now, you're stronger than Krillin, but Goku is stronger than you. You're all starting at different levels but receiving the same training. You're sure you'll get stronger from Roshi's training, but will you get strong enough to defeat Goku?

Maybe finding your own way is what you need if you want to be the best.

>B. Bulma wrote her phone number on the Dragon Radar. Go inside and call her

Do you think that gravity training at our level of strength is viable? If so, it could give us a big advantage over Goku.
>>
>>47597058
>B. Bulma wrote her phone number on the Dragon Radar. Go inside and call her
She's smart. Lets get some advice
>>
>>47597103
You would have no reason to think of that, and Bulma and her father might not be able to create something like that yet.

But, you did observe that Master Roshi wears a heavy shell on his back. You could certainly make extensive use of that
>>
>>47597103
Deciding to call Bulma, you go back inside the house.

In the last few minutes, Launch seems to have reverted to her normal, kind self and passed out at the kitchen table. You guess she didn't sleep too much last night.

You make your way to the closet, and push several of Master Roshi's heavy turtle shells out of the way, revealing the box you keep your clothes and radar in.

Retrieving the device, you look around for the phone, finding it not far from the television. You pick it up and dial the number. It's early in the morning, so you worry about waking Bulma up, but after a few rings, someone answers the phone.

"Hello, Briefs residence!" a woman says pleasantly on the other line.

You ask for Bulma, explaining that you're her friend, Tofoo.

"Oh, Tofoo!" the woman on the other side gasps in delight. "Bulma's told me all about you! I'm her mother, Mrs. Briefs."

Mrs. Briefs quickly seems to forget why you called, going on and on about Bulma and her friends, and how she likes that Bulma's hanging out with nice young men and so on.

Eventually, you politely remind her that you'd like to speak with Bulma.

"Oh, of course, deary," she says. "Bulma! Tofoo's on the phone!"

You hear shuffling on the other end.

"Hello?" A drowsy sounding Bulma asks.

You explain your current situation, and your concerns in regard to Master Roshi's training, and ask her what she thinks.

"I think Master Roshi's a dirty old man, but he is tough," Bulma admits. "But I haven't seen many kids who can do what you can do. I think if you train yourself, you can become even stronger than him!"

You thank her for the advice and the confidence.

"Of course, I'm rooting for you, kid!" she says with more energy. "That reminds me, are you planning on entering the World Martial Arts Tournament?"

You ask her what that is.

"Every few years, the strongest fighters in the world gather for a tournament," Bulma explains. "They compete in a series of matches until only one is left, and that person becomes the World Champion!"

That could be a great place to test how well your training pays off. And who knows? Maybe Goku and Krillin will be there.

"The next one's in about a year," Bulma explains. "I thought Roshi would be training you guys for it. I know Goku would go nuts for the chance."

You say goodbye to Bulma, and hang up the phone.

You have even more to consider, now. The World Tournament is in about a year, and in that time you have to become strong enough to face the best fighters in the world. And, if you know Goku, he'll be competing too.

So, how will you get stronger than Goku? Will you stay and train with him, or go off and find your own way?

You decide that it's time to go, but you do leave a (badly written) note on the kitchen table saying that you're leaving and that you'll be at the tournament.

Your reading and writing skills are pretty basic, but you're sure they'll get the gist of it.

Stepping outside, the sun is up, the day is warm, the breeze is cool, and the whole world is opened to you. You could train on the island, but that pretty much defeats the point of leaving the others.

You could go to town and look for a boat to take you to the mainland, but...what if you swam there? That's be a good test of strength, and definitely something a normal person couldn't do.

I do, though at times you may be forced to do things related to the story. After all, if you compete in the tournament you will eventually become a target of King Piccolo, and so on.

I don't find it unwise, but it is dangerous. Depending on what you do, this could either be the best thing for you, or a not so good thing

Yes, swimming all the way back to the mainland will be a good start to your training.

You rush away from Kame House, leaving your clothes behind but tucking away the Dragon Radar and hoping it's water proof. You rush into the water and begin to swim away from the island where your friends are training, aiming for the vast mainland where you can train on your own.

You were never a very strong swimmer, but considering you're just doing basic strokes to keep your head above the water, and the practice you've gotten in recent days, you're able to do fine. If anything, this probably helps make the task a stronger test of your endurance.

You swim and swim, the hot sun burning down on you as you travel through the open ocean, few sounds to be heard other than the occasional call of seagulls. It's an isolation that feels a bit unnerving even to you. Despite being alone for years, you were in the middle of a forest, surrounded by life. Here, you seem well and truly alone.

But, maybe not. You get the sudden feeling you're being watched, and, glancing over your shoulder, you see why.

A large fin has appeared above the water, heading quickly in your direction.

>A. Try to outswim it! (86)

>B. Dive under the water and try to fight it (this will put you at something of a disadvantage, as you will have a harder time swimming underwater than above it)

You swim away from the approaching fun as fast as you can, and find that you've actually become a faster swimmer. You take this as a good sign that workouts like this will pay off in the long run.

The fin chases you for a while, but second by second you put a great and greater distance between yourself and it. In the end, whatever it is gives up and disappears beneath the water.

As you keep swimming, you see another shape in the distance. It looks pretty big, so at first you think it may be another island. But, as you get closer, you see that it's some kind of boat.

As you get even closer, you see exactly what kind of boat it is. It's made of wood, and has a giant sail with a skull and crossbones on it.

Pirates.

You see something rapidly approaching from the ship, and something huge slams into the water right in front of you, stopping you dead in your tracks.

Now this is something you can't just pass up.

You swim for the ship as it comes sailing toward you, and soon reach it, climbing up the side and throwing yourself aboard.

You're surrounded by pirates. They remind you a lot of the pictures you saw in storybooks when you were a little kid. They come in all shapes and sizes, with some looking skinny and weak, others looking big and strong, and some just looking weird. There's humans, animal people, men, women, and even a few parrots flying around.

"What in the blazes is this?" one of the skinny guy asks. "What are you doing all the way out here?"

"We thought we'd found a boat to plunder, but it's just some kid?" a redhaired woman asks.

"Out of my way," a deep, creepy voice commands.

The pirates begin to move, and the most horrible stench you've ever smelled fills your nostrils. You hear someone groan and the sound of heavy footfall as the rest of the pirates clear the way to reveal their leader.

He's very tall, on the fat side, covered in hair, has awful teeth, and smells worse than anything you've ever encountered. He wears a vest that is way too small for him, pants that really look more like a speedo, a gold, jewel-encrusted belt, several rings, and a strange belt.

You're forced to cover your nose to protect yourself from the smell.

"What are you doing here, kid?" the captain demands, snot running down his nose and drool leaking from the sides of his mouth.

With one hand still covering your nose, you get into a defensive stance and prepare to defend yourself from the pirates.

They stare at you and laugh riotously, some of them actually falling to the ground.

"Hehehe," the Captain laughs. "Alright, you guys make him hurt."

A couple of the skinnier pirates draw their swords and approach, their expressions and relaxed posture making it clear that they're expecting little to no trouble from you. So, they leave their guards down completely, allowing you to punch one with your free hand and kick the other in the face, sending them both flying into their crew mates.

The redheaded woman draws a gun and fired at you, but you jump up to avoid it, causing her to accidentally shoot one of the other pirates. While the others are distracted with this, you land, and the woman shoots at you again, this time hitting you in the forehead.

You rub the sore spot where she hit you, glaring at her through teary eyes.

You let the pirates try their luck. Now, it's your turn.

You aren't going to hold back against these people. You're going to end this quickly.

As a boar pirate approaches you, you rush him at full speed and kicking him in the gut, sending him bouncing off the mast and into the water. As you land, the redheaded pirate shoots at you again, but you duck under it before jumping at her and kicking him in the face, sending her over the side and into the water.

The rest start coming for you, but you deal with them easily, taking out several by knocking large pirates into them, and even using a skinny pirate as a weapon to smack the others around with.

In less than a minute, most of the pirates are either overboard or unconscious, though a few have just decided not to attack you, or have taken to playing dead.

The captain is scowling at you now, and draws a massive sword, pointing it toward you.

"You are dead, little man!" he says before sniffing some snot back into his nose.

He steps toward you, and his stench becomes more overpowering, despite your efforts to protect your nose.

This guy is huge, and judging by the fact that he doesn't seem scared of you despite your ability to take down his crew, he's probably pretty strong. Or, maybe he's just stupid. But, if he's strong enough to put up a fight, the smell might get to you before you can end it.

So, you take a gamble.

You remove your hand from your nose, and cup both of them at your side as the captain approaches.

His stench assails your nostrils, and tears begin running from your eyes, your whole body stiffening in disgust in the face of this ungodly stench.

You manage to focus on what you're doing, and amazingly are able to drown the smell out as you gather the energy in your body, directing it toward the palms of your hands.

"Ka.....me......" you begin, feeling your hands growing warm, and a tingle flowing through your arms. "Ha....me...."

The captain looks confused, either not knowing what you're saying, or not understanding how you aren't passing out from the stench permeating from him.

"HAAAAAAAA!!!" you shout, thrusting your hands toward your foe.

Interestingly, the Kamehameha seems ever-so-slightly larger than it usually is, though still downright puny compared to what Master Roshi could do.

You see the captain's eyes go wide before the beam of light hits him in the gut, causing him to hunch over and his eyes to bulge. The blast leaves a nice scorch on him, and in his pain and shock, he drops his sword.

He's not down yet, but he's hurt badly, and vulnerable to another attack.

You rush forward, kicking the smelly pirate in the face and sending him crashing into the mast, his head slamming into it hard enough to actually crack the wood.

You now stand surrounded by unconscious pirates, cowering pirates, and pirates that are playing dead. There's nothing to stop you from leaving, but maybe there's something more to be done.

This ship was firing cannonballs at you. Cannonballs are heavy. Master Roshi goes around with a heavy shell on his back. Maybe you could try something similar.

>A. Ask one of the pirates to tie a heavy cannonball to your back

>B. Ask which way the mainland is

We can find something heavy on land. I'd rather not drown in the middle of the ocean.

And ask for two more. to be left on the shore, or you'll beat them up.

trying to swim in lava would be considered trying to go beyond normal human limits too.

doesn't mean we should try it.

You ask one of the pirates to tie a cannonball to your back.

The man you ask looks positively baffled in regards to why anybody would ever make such a request. But, after seeing what you did to his crew, he's not about to argue with you on it.

He disappears below deck, and the pirates who aren't unconscious or playing dead look at you with terrified eyes, not moving a muscle so as to avoid provoking you in some way. When he returns, he is carrying a cannonball that he seems to be struggling to carry.

"Here you go ki-I mean, sir," he says as he gathers rope and ties the object to your back. "It's sixty pounds. I-uh, hope that's enough. It's the heaviest we've got."

You ask him which way the mainland is, and when he points the way, you head for the side of the ship. With this heavy weight on your back, it's difficult to walk. Swimming is going to be an absolute nightmare.

But, if you want to defeat Goku, you're going to have to push yourself to the absolute limits and beyond.

You throw yourself over the side of the boat and quickly begin sinking like a stone. You attempt with all of your strength to swim, but getting to the surface for even a few seconds is a struggle.

>A. Push yourself and swim the whole way back (90)

>B. Remove the cannonball

>C. Walk over the sea-floor and hop up for air when you need it

You may not be training with Roshi anymore, but you remember his words. You are determined to overcome your limits.

You know it's not something that always happens immediately, but you always have to act with the belief that you will succeed in what you're trying.

This time, you do succeed, managing to power your way back to the surface. You struggle for a few minutes as you get used to the weight on your back, but are soon able to keep yourself above the surface.

Of course, you still have a long distance to travel, and you have to swim it with a sixty pound weight on your back. So, while you do succeed in what you're doing, it is a long, painful, difficult trip.

It takes hours, the sun setting as you finally reach the beach. And considering you began your journey from Kame House before it was even six in the morning, you've been at this a while.

You drag yourself out of the ocean and collapse, the last thing you see being the stars before you pass out.

When you wake up, it's a bit brighter, though you can see that the light is coming from a fire nearby. Your hands are bound, and your cannonball is no longer on your back, sitting instead a few feet away. You attempt to break the ropes, but your limbs feel like jelly. You don't have the strength to free yourself.

You notice a large shape by the fire, and as your eyes adjust, you see that it's a large bear-man, sound asleep.

You also see a pot sitting next to the fire, along with several sharp objects and a book titled "To serve Man: It's a Cookbook!"

You don't like where this is going.

>large bear-man

CONFIRMED FOR BEAR STYLE.

But seriously, energy claws and sharp energy would be a good direction to go down for KI stuff, and we can make better stuff than the destructo disk.

But yeah, i had fun Som, so thanks for the thread!
>>
>>47602120
Glad you did, and down the line you could definitely start your own martial arts school. So far your fighting style seems to fit the bear: you stand firm and weather attacks before striking with strong hits that are hard to stop.

You're also cuddly.

You also eat fish

Could work.

More like punching someone and ejecting an energy spike, or swiping at someone with connected energy claws, or holding out our palm and shooting a wide volley of energy spikes.

But those are just my ideas, meh.
>>
>>47602636
Energy Claws could be a thing. The spike possibly could too. The volley thing I would hold off on until Z, or at least the end of DB
>>
>>47602645
Fair enough, the volley thing could come later, i would settle for a quick launched arrow-like spike, like Ki-Bolts.

Possibly

Damn it ive been missing these threads every day. good read SOM. How did we manage to pass every DC today? Did we get massive GAINS?
>>

It's a damn good start, but you can't afford to slack off if you want to do well in the tournament.
