I like this idea. Unusually genetically clean Ogryn are found, are used to create a space marine chapter of like 9-10 feet taller marines [instead of the usual 7-8]. They're dumb as a sack of bricks, obsessed with size and stature, and their method of combat relies on being carefully herded into battle by leaders with way too much patience.

These marines. These 9 - 10 foot tank men. The recruitment population could be the result of an inquisition funded human/ogryn hybrid program. Their aim? The mass production of a new warrior caste of humans to supplement the Space Marines. They breed as fast as humans and the men, once matured, are about half way between human and astartes in ability to wreck all of the things.

The aim was to also eradicate the mental retardation of abhuman but keep the iron clad faith and sense of duty. It's nearly worked.

The one responsible for this project is Inquisitor Traela. She originally proposed it in the memory of her former employee, St Gav.

The mechanicus claim that you can't manipulate adamantium once it goes solid. It can be white hot but until it melts it requires industrial machinery to be worked with. The Giants disagree. In the immortal words of one of their founding Forge Lord "You just need a bigger enough hammer". In this way the Giants make their armour in the Thunder Forge where big hammer noise competes with the storm.

They have other heavy weapons. Their most favorite of heavy weapons is the las-cannon. It is considered a blessed weapon, favoured of The Saint.

In their main temple, placed in full view above the alter, there is a now defunct las-cannon. It was carried by The Saint.

The Cathedral, as it is simply known, has only one statue of St Gav. It is well sculpted in a warts and all sort of way.

Is it too far to suggest that instead of a chapter fleet they have either just one big fuck off sized ship or a renovated space hulk.

It limits the chapter, and presumably it's homeworld backup regiments, to only answering one distress call at a time unless they get a free ride. But on the positive side once they do arrive they arrive hard and heavy. The whole chapter bar one company that has to stay at home at all times deploys for every engagement.

They go HUEG or the go home. And they are never no going HUEG.

Also I'm trying to imagine what their actual power armour would look like. People mistaking them for an entire company of Centurions.

Given the rarity of power armour in their size I'm going to suggest that they have only first company and the Wrecking Ball Squad of each other company have it.

These abominations are the result of ogyrn-human cross breeding and as such are, although smarter than other people assume, not as smart as other people.

The upgrade from mortal to near-immortal does improve the brain but only so much as it needs to process more information being given to it by the enhanced senses. They still think slower than base-line humans.

In terms of intelligence, the HUEG marines are on roughly the same level as normal humans, but their knowledge is mostly limited to health/fitness (all marines are basically mythical /fit/ gurus) and blacksmithing for each marine must forge their own XXX...L-size power armour. As a result their military tactics are somewhat lacking compared to other marine chapters and consist largely of HUEG.

As for allied chapters, I figure they might be on good terms with the Salamanders since they're both big on blacksmithing. Any others?

The chapter has human levels of intelligence because of the BONE implants.

The rest of the population are usually somewhat beneath the average. Not super tard or anything. Most of them can crudely read and write after a fashion.

The reason why they are so obsessed with health and fitness is due to the Promethean philosophies they picked up from the Salamanders and their drive towards self reliance. They also love hand to hand sports and competitions and can get into a bare knuckle boxing match with an ork and win.

They get along with any chapter that is prepared to overlook their freakish size and loves close combat as much as they do.
