You are Kuro Nijiiroh, a newly-minted genin of Konohagakure, and it's the morning you're supposed to meet with Hōōmaru-sensei for your first one-on-one training with her. And according to Hakurin, the entire first day of training was stamina training. by fighting alone against a jounin. You hope that the stamina training you did yesterday, along with the water ninjutsu that you've learned, you'll be able to get out of the training better than your teammate did. Tying your headband around your belt, and slipping on your coat, you rush towards the training ground, and hope that your sensei being late for your first meeting was a fluke.

You get to the training ground ten minutes before the appointed meeting time, and glance around to see if you beat Hōōmaru-sensei here. Suddenly, you feel yourself lifted into the air, and then you're dangling from a tree by the ankle, staring into your sensei's blue eyes. She clicks her tongue, "You really cut it close there, Kuro, I was almost worried you were going to be late." You wonder why she's not wearing her flak jacket, if you're going to be training rigorously today. Apparently, she wanted to look presentable and professional for your first meeting, she informs you as she glares at you. You're not sure why any ninja would decide to wear some kind of skirt and button down shirt while ninja'ing, but you got knocked out by an ANBU in a towel, so you're not one to argue. After letting you down, she leads you to the field, adopts a fighting stance, and asks if you're ready.

Almost immediately after Hōōmaru-sensei rushes you, you feel like she's having an off day, because she's not fighting nearly as well as she was during your first test as a team. Though you had your misgivings about fighting for six hours straight coming into this, by the halfway point, you're confident that you'll make it. You wake up the morning of what your sensei said would be your first mission, and you're excited. Even more so than the morning you woke up on the day of your graduation from the Academy. You practically halve the time it takes for you to do your morning routine and bolt out the door, shunshin'ing and sprinting all the way to the coffeehouse that sensei declared would be your meeting spot today. In your excitement you actually "Flicker" right into Hakurin's back, causing her to smack her head against the table that she's sat at. After a harsh berating from her, you sit down at the small square table, and sensei brings over four drinks, one for each of your team members, including Jimmaru, who arrives just in time to not have his drink stolen. You think it's odd that sensei knew all your favorite tea and coffee choices, but that must be the 'jonin's intuition' she's mentioned.

After the coffeehouse excursion Hōōmaru-sensei leads the three of you to Konoha's Official Portrait Photographer, really just a fancy title for the kind old man who takes all of the village's official ninja photos. Hōōmaru-sensei stands behind you three as the man asks you all to pose, and be happy with what you've chosen, there's no second take.

You decide that you want to look as serious as possible for this photo, after all, being a ninja is supposed to be a no-nonsense profession! You stare right into the camera, your aquamarine eyes glaring into the camera, and you hope that they're boring into the soul of whoever looks at this photo in the future. After the flash, Hōōmaru-sensei leads the three of you over to the camera, where the photographer shows you the photo on the screen on the back of the camera, you're sufficiently pleased. You all thank the photographer, and leave.

After you leave, Hōōmaru-sensei groans and wheels on you. "Come on Kuro, your serious expression screwed up the whole team dynamic!" She's huffy for the whole walk to the Konoha Grand Outlets, the largest mall in the village. When Jimmaru asks her about why you're hear, she happily informs you that your mission is to guard the mall overnight, they've had some break-ins recently.

You decide to make up for "ruining the team dynamic" by matching, hell, even overmatching, sensei's enthusiasm. This leads to Jimmaru overmatching you, which leads to your entire team receiving looks from the people in the mall. This leads to Hakurin berating the three of you about 'inside voices', and 'appropriate times to be enthusiastic.' And that leads to the rest of the team having a good laugh at her expense. You and your team browse the mall for a good few hours, until closing time comes around, and everyone but you and the regular night security is herded out.

Your team settles into regular patrols across the mall, with Jimmaru taking the west wing, Hakurin taking the east wing, Hōōmaru-sensei taking the atrium, and you taking the south wing. As you shunshin around the wing, standing on the walls to give you some more practice with the Body Flicker Technique, you're slammed into by what feels like a rock. A rock which weighs maybe ninety-five pounds soaking wet, and is staring you in the face, with the same aquamarine eyes as you. What the hell?

You decide that this is way too shifty for you to be involved in, at least alone. And shout for Hōōmaru-sensei, as your sister darts back into the rafters. Before Hōōmaru-sensei and Hakurin, who she thankfully decided to bring along, arrive, you slam your hand into the wall, hard, to make sure this isn't some horrid genjutstu. The shooting pain in your wrist tells you that it isn't, and when your sensei and teammate arrive, you're standing and grasping the injured extremity. You tell Hōōmaru-sensei that the opponent is in the rafters, not mentioning it's your sister.

Before Hakurin can spy your sister using her byakugan, a the weighted end of a kusari-fundo slams into the center of her forehead, knocking her out cold. Hōōmaru-sensei leaps into the rafters following Shirou, and leaving you with Hakurin. Looking up, you can barely see the two clashing, and you try to decide whether to jump up and help your sensei, or go and find Jimmaru, you hear your sister's voice in your ear, "Sorry Kuro."
