>You are Princess Zelda, heir to the fallen throne of Hyrule

>Your father, corrupted by Power, died in a coup, your Kingdom shattered in a civil war 10 years ago, the Hero in Green giving his life to ensure you escaped the conflict

>An uneasy peace has returned to the land, but omens of a descent into greater chaos than before loom on the horizon

>You, Zelda Hyrule, have the potential to claim your birthright and restore the Kingdom to what it once was, bring back true peace to the lands. Your path ahead is not set in stone; you must chisel it in yourself. What kind of Legend will you create?

[Temple of Din]

The temple's interior is a bit more plain than the previous ones you've encountered. It's still plenty decorated, but there's something more... basic, simple, but somehow elegant about the place. And while still much, much warmer than the last two, it's certainly better than staying outside.

Some murals of Gorons are what greet you and Horon as the two of you enter. A few pillars hold up the main entrance, with some pots at the sides, a quick break of one to make sure you're up to full strength. Horon does the same, retrieving a green Rupee. Unlike the last few Temples you've been to, this one seems to have a stairway leading to a larger room just ahead, and you can hear the sound of movement there.

"Horon, Felicia, think you can scout ahead, so we cal plan this out?" you ask.

"Eh, guess so." the boy replies, linking with the fairy and scouting. "Hrmn... looks like more of those baby Dogongos. Oh, and some Keese."

"How many?"

"Two and two."

You move your poncho slightly to retrieve your wooden shield. "Thank you. Also, it's dangerous up ahead. A shield is better than nothing."

He breaks the link, Felicia flying back... and almost seems insulted. "A... wooden shield. In a place with a literal flaming moat at its entrance. Termina, really?"

You frown at him. "Horon, you don't have a shield period. Take this one, as a precaution."

He almost seems like he's going to refuse... but then gets this devious grin on his face. "Well... I might be able to find a use for it after all. Heh heh heh..."

Felicia seems to look at him and sigh as he finally takes the shield. "So, we ready?"

You nod. The element of surprise is yours.

"Horon, step back, I've got a plan." you tell the boy, readying a Bombchu.

He does as asked with a curious look on his face, watching the device skitter across the ground, up the stairs. There's a couple calls of surprise from the monsters ahead, followed by a clear explosion and two cries of pain.

"NOW!" you shout, running up the steps, blade drawn. Horon moves behind you, readying Felicia. The Dodongos are down, a quick couple stabs from your blade, launching the Sword Beam, making sure they stay that way. One of the Keese fly at you, but you manage to bring up your shield quickly enough to block it, stepping back... right into the detonating baby Dodongo. You're quick enough that you don't get caught by the brunt of the explosion, but it does nick you slightly.

[Hearts: 5.5/6]

With you out of the way, Horon has the perfect shot for the Fairy Missile, and launches Felicia at the Keese, managing to get both at the same time. He places his hands on his hips, laughing aloud, "Hahaha! Now that's how you do it! And not a scratch on me."

You roll your eyes a little, managing to scan the surroundings as you do. It's more of the same kind of simplistic but elegant design work as the previous section of the room, and with three doors. One ahead, one to your left, and one to your right.

You start heading to the doorway to the left, taking a look. There's a small room, and a stairway "Hrmn. Horon, this one seems to head down. I'm going to check it out."

He shrugs. "All right, you do-"

"EH-HEM." Felicia interrupts. "This is a team effort, is it not?"

He sulks a little. "Fine, I'm coming with." He walks towards you, grumbling. "Still not the boss of me..."

This lower room has similar architecture and design work as the upper one, but you do notice something curious. There's a mark on one of the walls that's unmistakably a Gerudo symbol. You approach, looking over it. There are two further symbols by it on a figure. One seems to be that of a flame, the other... you're not quite sure what it is, but there's something about it that seems to indicate strength.

The door ahead is sealed up somehow. Looks like you'll need to find a way to open it. There should be a switch around here somewhere. You hear Horon complain, "Termina, this place is a dead end. Let's go back." He takes a seat on... ah! The switch!

...it's not moving down.

Damn.

"Horon, stay there for a bit." you ask, heading over. He stays still, and you climb on the top of the switch. Suddenly it bolts down, the door opening ahead.

"Well I'll be, smart thinking Termina!" he states. "Extra weight got it to go down."

You squint at him slightly, Felicia sighing. Horon then jumps up himself and starts heading to the door... which bolts you back up and seals it. "Hrmn. Looks like it needs a weight to stay open."

You catch him about to make a joke, but stop himself. You squint a little harder at him for that, but similarly make no comment. "Maybe some crate will do the trick?" he suggests.

You jump off, looking around for one... aha! There you go, rather large crate. You grab the side of it and start pulling... and wow this is heavy. You barely move it from the wall it's against, and dragging it all the way to the switch at this rate could take a good ten minutes. "Little help?"

"Heh, let the pros handle it." he suggests, flexing his arm and trying to puff up his chest. He moves you aside and tries to pull as well... and moves it even less distance than you did. "...not a word."

You roll your eyes and pull with him, getting it to the switch in about six minutes' of slow, methodical pulling of the crate. Your arms feel a little sore, but it seems to do the trick. The door's open!

...and there seems to be a crack in the wall where the crate was.

"Horon, wait just a moment." you ask, taking a bomb out and rolling it towards the wall. You time it just right, the bomb detonating right as it reaches the wall. And the wall crumbles, revealing a door. You proudly open it and find a chest hidden there. You take a look...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VRr9NG7RE0

...and find a Camera!

Wait.

A... Camera?

It seems like it's been in there a long time, but doesn't show much ware. And while clearly older than a modern camera, it doesn't seem too much older. How... bizarre.

Horon looks at you. "A camera. Really. Well, there's worse treasure out there, but how'd you know there was something in there?"

"Walls like that are often not original natural features. Cracks like that don't form naturally around these rocks. Someone digs them out intentionally, to hide something from those they don't want to find it." You take a look at the camera again. Maybe... this belonged to someone. Someone involved with the Temple.

The boy nods. "I see, I see. Well, let's be on our way."

The room ahead is much larger than the previous room. You can see some lavafalls at the end of it giving it light. But there's a rustling sound from the same direction your eye catches who it belongs to. Lizalfos, at least four of them.

The door is sealed behind you. The monsters start to approach, and you can spot a larger, more rugged one seemingly leading the group. A Dinolfos. Upon noticing you, it seems to laugh. The Lizalfos around it look to it... and it makes a neck-cutting motion while pointing to you and Horon.

They're looking for a fight.

You wordlessly bring up your crossbow and fire at the Dinolfos, striking it in the chest. It's not dead, but that clearly caught it off-guard. It stumbles as the other Lizalfos head at you and Horon. The boy launches his fairy at the four, the explosion damaging them, but failing to land any major blow. You step forward, sword drawn, and as they surround you, you let magic flow into the blade.

"HHHRRRAAAAHGH!" you roar, spinning yourself and letting the magic spiral outwards. The Lizalfos fall back, the four of them severely damaged, but not out just yet. The Dinolfos seems to have recovered, and it is definitely not happy with that stunt.

"Termina, I'll take the big one on, you finish up the small fries!" Horon shouts, his own sword drawn and ready.

"Be careful!" you warn, the Lizalfos converging on you again. The four of them each try to take a swipe at you, but you manage to back away in time. They try to surround you once more, but you've got the same trick waiting for them. You don't give it the full charge, catching the Lizalfos by surprise as you spin again, this time slashing deep with your blade. Each one falls, one after the other, as you finish spinning.

[Magic: 3/5]

You spot Horon trying to guard against the Dinolfos with the shield you gave him, but suddenly a blast of flame erupts from the monster's mouth. The shield starts to burn... and Horon uses it as an opportunity, shoving it down the Dinolfos' throat. His arm gets some damage from that, but not as much as you might expect, given he just shoved his arm in a jet of flame. With the monster choking on the burning wood, Horon takes this opportunity to shove his sword in its gut, the giant, broken blade slicing through the creature's flesh. It falls slowly, Horon standing pridefully, ignoring some of the singed hair and turning back to you and smiling. "See? Told you I could find a use for it."

You can't help but smile. Unorthodox, certainly not the proper way to use a shield, but maybe that kind of thinking is what will help you save Hyrule.
