One of the things about Fenrisians is that they start out as looking and acting more or less normal and can pass for normal most of the time, even the men. But the scraps of code that have leached into the population from interbreeding with Russ' Dog Soldiers has had an effect on them.

The introduction of a full blown Canis Helix into an already mildly mutated individual will result in the mutations becoming exaggerated. Elongated canine teeth, excessive body hair, face subtly altering so that the res position looks "grumpy" and often a change in eye colour; these are the visible effects of the super soldier augmentation.

A sad and shameful truth of the Canis Helix is that the mutations do not stop.

The inhumanity in features and temperament only become more pronounced with time. How much time varies greatly with the individual but eventually all Space Wolves become Wolfen. Sometimes the mutations mature so slowly that the individual, even augmented, will die old and in their bed (or someone's bed) before it becomes a concern. Most die in battle before they have to worry.

For the unfortunate individual who does not die as a warrior or whose curse grows quickly they devolve into the dreaded and pitied Wulfen. Typically they are not mistreated by their more human brothers, they are fed and given a place by the hearth to sleep. Most have freedom of moment within the Fang and in the surrounding lands. They are not more dangerous to the common folk than they were as men, just uglier and stupider. They get invited to the wars and it is there that they still shine.

It is sometimes a steep price that the soldier of Fenris pay to serve the Imperium as best they can, but they pay it and they pay it knowingly and gladly.

Inquisitor Commodus Voke in this timeline survived the Thracian Gate Atrocity.

In this timeline the APEX twins Ethel and Gretel were still present but they weren't captives paraded as captured in war. They were eating ice cream in the crowd.

They assisted in the cleaning up and mitigating the problem somewhat, though this is possibly one of the few instances that they have ever been in serious danger.

By the time anyone got their shit together enough to look for them they were long, long gone.

Voke was the Inquisitorial Representative of the High Lords prior to Hector Rex. After his 10 year stint in the big chair he went back to his job but the urging of his friends (such few as he had) and colleagues to retire due to age and failing health caused him to find a compromise. He is now spending his twilight years as the Inquisitorial Overseer to the chapter Guardians of t

>>54717919
So how would the Guardians of the Covenant fit in to this?

They are already the most reasonable of the Dark Angel successors in Vanilla, a fact that put's them in instant suspicion.

They value and prize knowledge and they have adopted the teachings of more than just their primarch.

Possibly they would be very well integrated into the higher officers of the local branch of the Imperial Army as each is capable of offering advice to their leaders on all manner of warfare. Possibly the failed recruits are often trained as officers given the abnormally high standards of education.

Downside is that they are maybe slightly beneath average in terms of individual performance compared to marines of other chapters. They have never won at the Feast of Blades, but they have always been invited and have always participated.

Inquisition is slightly annoyed with them as they collect ALL OF THE KNOWLEDGE! even the shit that they are not supposed to. The have an extensive Forbidden Tome collection.

They dream of an invitation to the Black Library.

How many colonies of Fenrisians are there and how many Space Wolves should there be?

Are they still at small Legion strength?
>>
>>54728556

They are at approximately, Ultramarines strength, give or take, but slightly less well armed due to, you know, less industrial capacity.

Fenrisian colonies are scattered all across the galaxy, kinda like how Pastoral worlds are. Mostly consist of frozen worlds, death worlds that are not quite death and elses. A thousand or two are Fenris colonies but only around 200-300 are worth noting, and maybe less than a hundred are the original Leman-form colonies/research labs. Only Fenris answers to HK Grimnar. The rest listens to advice from the High Priest of Fenris, who then listen to the HK. Aka Ultramar but highly decentralized.
>>
>>54729670
I'd say it should be 200 worth noting with maybe another 300 including minor outposts so they don't start to outshine Ultramar or the Hubworlds
>>
>>54730703
I meant with maybe 300 total including lesser colonies.

>>Does the Orikan/Deceiver Pyramid scheme have an end goal, or is it just syndicated lying for the art of it?
this has been in the OP for a few threads now, what does it refer to and does the question have an answer?
>>
>>54732174
Orikan hijacked a Deceiver Shard for mad buffs. Then he started breaking pieces off of it, infecting volunteers and turning them into Deceiver Vampires but with a portion of the buffs going to him.

This has developed into a magic pyramid scheme that he is running from inside his magic pyramid.
>>
>>54733130
Is his magic pyramid by any chance itself scheming?
>>
Njal Stormcaller was born towards the tail end of 800M41 though the exact date is unknown given his somewhat backwards tribes lack of calendar. He came to the attention of Rune-Caster Heimdall of Asaheim when his tribe was attacked by an equally backwards bunch of reprobates during a migration. He was detected by Heimdall as at this point in his puberty Njal's psychic abilities were just starting to shine out. By the time Heimdall arrived at the wind blasted islet that Stormcaller tribe was housed on Njal lay an inch from death, a spear driven through his chest and his lungs filling with blood. Stormcaller's had little in the way of medicine, rustic and homeless as they were, and certainly nothing to help their dying son with such an injury. Heimdall offered the care of The Fang for the dying boy but at the cost that he would be theirs to train. With little option the Stormcallers handed over Njal to the care of wolves and that would be the last they would see of him for a long time.

Njal was patched up in The Fang, nursed back to health and made aware of his unearthly powers and even more aware of the dangers they posed to him and those around him. He was told in no uncertain terms that he would never be allowed to go home until he mastered his gifts. At first Njal was more than a little unhappy about this and descended into sullen resentment and was uncooperative, seeing The Fang as his prison and it's inhabitants as his captors. A lack of cooperation was not an option for the psychically afflicted and Heimdall showed him visions of what happened to unprepared psykers, his centuries of horrific experiences collected and shown to a young fool in the merciless, lidless eye of the mind, unable to blink or look away.
>>
>>54734088
Heimdall did not hate Njal, though many believed he did after that not least of all Njal, his intention was to frighten the child onto the right path and actually get him to take his studies seriously rather than spending his time looking for methods of escape. It worked, by the Deep Ones and Old Gods it worked. Some say it worked a little too well but Fenrisians generally don't do things by half measures.

Njal had seen such things in those visions. Horrific things, oh yes, but each had been defeated by power directed with wisdom and knowledge. Power alone was almost worthless, he had power and he knew that now, power without direction was as dangerous to self and friends as it was to the target. He needed to know. He needed to learn. Most pressingly he needed to learn how to read. He could learn as much as Heimdall could teach him but Heimdall couldn't know everything. But the great libraries of the Aett held the wisdom of powerful and wise practitioners all the way back to the days of Russ.

The horror of the visions he had seen spurred him on more than any lash or Heimdall's less than gentle verbal encouragement ever could. He learned to read quite quickly and his appetite for knowledge was voracious.

When Njal was maybe 15 or 16 and had started to grow a decent beard Ranek Icewalker, veteran apothecary, approached Heimdall and Njal and informed them that Njal was possibly compatible with the Canis Helix. It was not something that either of them had contemplated as Njal was not traditional Space Wolf material. He was a gangly youth with little in the way of brawn and sticky out ears. It was said in later days that Njal flipped a coin to decide his fate, others say he rolled dice but for whatever reason he accepted the offer.
>>
>>54734295
Njal, upon the completion of his training and successful alterations, did return to his old tribe and in the times he could afford a few times after that but as the years past he grew more and more distant from them.

Njal is probably the greatest user of the Fang Library and even beyond the borders of Fenris and her colonies he is considered a great authority on matters of the warp, particularly the lesser seen anomalies. As now long dead Heimdall believed he did indeed grow to be powerful, possibly the most powerful Rune-Priest that the Space Wolves have ever had, certainly one of the most erudite.

Indeed, Njal is not what most people think of when they imagine a fenrisian psyker. His beard is well trimmed, his hair clipped short, (relatively) well versed in courtly etiquette, fluent in several languages including High Gothic and is even passable in Eldar High Tongue. He appears slighter of build than his battle-brothers but it is respected that, like in his training, he is using his unearthly abilities to boost his physical abilities.

It is known that he has done work for several inquisitors though exactly what is in sealed records and he will not say.

>Done.

Do the Assassins exist in this universe? Would the new Emps allow them to weaponize people into Eversors?
>>
>>54740055
Yes, and I don't think their recruitment practices have ever been made clear, respectively.
>>
>>54740055
>>54740129

A previous thread agreed that canon-style Eversors wouldn't be allowed, but I don't think a decision was reached on what Nobledark Eversors should be like.
>>
>>54741177
I'd imagine they'd be a human equivalent to a dread? A human too fucked up to fight, but still very willing. Human tech level in 40k can't heal a human thats been shredded back to full health, but what do you do when you have a Cadian thats missing three limbs, a lung, and most of his intestinal tract, yes is somehow alive and just wants to get back into it?

Hook him up to a walking life support system, heavily armored, one hand is a heavy stubber, the other is a power fist, and he's and overload switch that turns him into a big ass bomb at will when he's surrounded by hoardes of green skins.

Oh wait, I guess this isn't really an assassin... Back to the drawing board!
>>
>>54741177
Whole point of an Eversor is to be a crazy berzerker that kills its target and anything that gets in its way, and explodes if its actually stopped... It way too grimdark to ever be Noble.
>>
>>54741177
>>54741617
>>54741660
We had an idea a thread or two ago that they'd be like a Grammaton Cleric from Equilibrium, except with more melee rip and tear than gun kata. So tranquil and merciless, with the art of killing distilled to its most pure and efficient form. They walk in the front door of their target, singlehandedly destroy the entire organization, and kill the boss with a bullet to the head, all without saying a word.

Don't know what other people thought, but it could possibly work. Keeps the laser guided missile crossed with human blender aspect of canon Eversors, but replaces the berserk craziness with cold efficiency.

>>54741787

Oooh yes, I remember that now. I like that, at least.

>>54741617
Medical knowledge in the this Imperium seems to be slightly higher than in Vanilla. They did set about successfully repairing the Beastmen and the Ogryn for example.

And this Imperium does care about the dignity of it's people and value them more than just as an expendable resource.

A soldier that was so broken would be able to be repaired to the point where they got to enjoy some basic quality of life. They may wheeze a bit and need a stick to walk but they would still be seen as a person.

Their career in the Imperial Army would be over, though they would get their pension and get to keep their laser rifle with the obligation to keep it in working order.

Possibly if they were still young enough they could save up some of that pension and buy a servo-harness of the sort worn by ancient savants of the Inquisition and Void Born, strap some carapace to it and sign up with the local PDF.

There they would be held in high esteem, Imperial Army are the best of a world scooped off as tithe, the PDF are the best of what's left. He is a veteran of the Imperial Army and knows how shit is supposed to work and comes with his own weapon.

It's not the life he had, but it would be a life not too alien.
>>
>>54735608
It's good as a start. It shows how Njal Stormcaller came to be but not anything about what he did after he became a Space Wolf.
>>
>>54741787
It also helps that they can pass as a normal unaugmented human to the naked eye and even hold a conversation.

Right up until they spot their target, then they turn into a high speed thresher/blender/meat grinder combo because all their augmentations get activated and all the drugs get released into their system at once.
>>
>>54730807
>>54730703
So what should be the number of marines?

If we assume that each major colony has a company sized deployment we will have ~200,000 Space Wolves not including the unspecified number on Fenris itself.

Is this the right sort of number?
>>
In Faydor Karamazov's rebellion are there any Space Marines siding with him?

Makes me think of Lance Corporal Jones from Dad's Army. He'd lied about his age to get into the army early, made a career and life for himself in the army and lied about his age again to stay in as long as possible. When he had to leave for being too old he joined the Home Guard and lied about his age so they wouldn't kick him out of that.

I'm not sure if it's a happy thought or a defiant one or if it's just extremely sad.

On the one hand he had purpose and he found great comfort in his duties, on the other hand age and war's ending would eventually make it impossible for him to stay in. He was living on borrowed time but then so is everyone.

Dad's army was quite sad sometimes between the funny and occasional spots of badass.

>Saruthi for this AU

A once prosperous society of large coconut crab looking people with a loose coalition of worlds at it's height counting 80 star systems as theirs they did not endure well in the Age of Strife. Their people, though hardy of shell, were not sufficiently warlike and could not understand the great and increased enmity between what once had been good neighbours. Although they had an electrical biological defence they had little in the way of developed weapons and this was a weakness they paid for dearly.

They also had surprisingly little understanding of the warp and, at the time, no member of their species was psyker. They had abandoned the use of star ships many generations previously and had adopted a strange method of "folding" into the webway. Their primary method of perception was being able to smell/taste dimensions in a manner not encountered before or since in any other species and by this means became the only other species besides the elder to develop the ability to navigate that strange realm.

The eldar allowed them to violate a realm considered exclusively their own for no other reason beyond apathy. Their worlds intersected paths seldom visited and they made poor slaves or playthings when other more entertaining diversions were to be had in abundance.

For the most part the Saruthi had lived apart from the galaxy in splendid isolation, making wonderful works of art made to be "seen" by creatures with no eyes and written works in a form of xeno braille.

But it did not last. When the galaxy went mad they could not have been prepared for the whispers that seeped sideways into their dreams.
>>
>>54760917
It is unclear exactly what they were tempted with, what dreams of things forbidden could be appealing to a race of blind crabs who dreamed of impossible geometries and poetry, but dream they did and tempted. Ultimately it was Slaanesh, the Newborn Queen, who held sway over their minds. She promised them, maybe, grandeur writ large across the stars in dimensions strange and twisted and impossible that they could walk. Maybe she promised them retaliation and sweet sadistic catharsis against those that had brought their works to ruin. Who can say? Further added to this problem, exaggerating and growing the corruption in new and exciting directions were refugees from Ursh, wicked men debased and debauched, who carried with them the Necroteuch and all the sorrows and splendour held therein.

It was in this time that the Saruthi as a people collapsed. On the one side of the great and unpleasant and new divide between them were the Broken who thrashed and tore at the world, twisting space into unpleasant, impossible and obscene shapes and did unspeakable things to their young spawning a race of monsters to serve them as slaves and on the other side were the Sane who needed to exterminate the Broken to the last as a cancer needs to be exorcised from a host.

As the war ended there were maybe only a few worlds, no more than six, were left inhabited of the old Saruthi nation in a patch of the sky to be known to later Imperials as Wilderness Space and not much later than that quarantined by order of the Inquisition.

For the longest time it was assumed that they were another utterly lost cause. One more people lost to the Age of Strife and the depredations of the Great Adversary. What of them was left were not Saruthi as they once were as every generation birthed more mutations each seemingly more abominable and insane than the last.
>>
>>54761069
All until the Aschen War of 307M40 when well ordered ranks of strange beings seemed to fold out the air, hard of carapace and fearless. They took the forces of the orks and the Chaos marauders apart in an inhumanly meticulous and methodical manner even going so far as to carefully dismember the dead and the injured.

A seven group of them detached from the others and approached the Imperials, each standing 3 meters tall and broad they stood there and sniffed the air to taste them and their space form. With no words exchanged and what can only be assumed to have been an entirely one sided exchange of understanding the seven group turned away and returned to the dismembering before they all folded away again.

Saruthi sightings into the Dark Millennium have been sporadic but seem to be increasing in number. It is clear that they must be again multiplying and their peaceful days of innocence are behind them now, now the Sane march to war. No homeworld of them has been found, though the Harlequins sing sometimes of a "Hermit world of Crabs". No dialogue has been achieved between the seemingly resurrected Saruthi and the Imperium.

Are the Sisters of Silence actually silent in the Noble Darkness or do they just keep the name because their founder was a mute?
>>
>>54722620
As in canon, Asurmen left the Empire early because he saw where things were headed and wanted no part of it. Again, as in canon, started his own space dojo and trained some of the finest warriors from across the Craftworlds. When Slaanesh was born Asur was assaulted by legions of daemons and Asurmen ended up sacrificing himself to save his students (it's detailed on the notes page). However, his students repaid the favor by rescuing his soulstone before the daemons got it.

Asurmen's death was a bad thing, because he was one of the only eldar who all the Craftworlds would listen to aside from Eldrad, and he got himself a bad case of dead (it's implied the resurrection thing hadn't started up yet).

Asurmen had many students, the most talented of which represented the eldar along with the newly formed Harlequins in the Raid. Of those who survived, most noped the fuck out of there once the raid was done. The few who stayed on became the Phoenix Lords. Arhra is implied to have gotten a screw loose from the experience, and ended up going nuts later.

Exactly what the Phoenix Lords are doing is still a mystery. They've kind of gone the same way as the primarchs by M41, in that they've all either gone missing or the original has died. There's been talk that the resurrection thing they do results in the new Phoenix Warrior being not quite the same as the original (think Doctor Who), so it's not like having the original around to pump for knowledge. It's been suggested they've been getting more powerful as the years go by through the agglomeration of souls.

Eldar see the Phoenix Lords as their equivalent of the primarchs (or more accurately, the primarchs as their version of the Phoenix Lords), only better because they're not dead.

At least, that's the general gist. The ideas surrounding them are a bit fuzzier than usual.
>>
>>54750824
They probably wouldn't be Space Wolves. They'd call themselves Wolf Brothers or somesuch. That said, it's more a local designation than anything else since the reasons for the breaking of the legions was not forced but more for purposes of autonomy and functionality, so saying you're with the Wolf Brothers is like saying "yeah, I'm from the Space Wolf group on Skandfsjal". 10k years of cultural drift does the rest.
>>
>>54768281
Because their founder was a mute, and also because the way she taught them to fight was in utter silence to play up the image of creepy, merciless warriors. When you're primarily fighting rogue psyker god-kings, anything that disrupts their concentration and makes them freak out is immensely helpful.

The Sisters of Silence could and did talk off the battlefield, though Krole of course couldn't except through sign language and often had to have someone talk for her when talking over the vox (especially since psyker telepathy was not an option).

Part of this is to remove some of the grimderp around Krole (Metal plate fused to her jaw making her mute? Why?)

At least one of their number jumped ship and joined the Harlequins, at least for a while.

By 999M41 he is a wraithguard dressed in furs and skins and what would be exposed skin painted in woad and ash. He travels with the Hunters of Kurnous, though whether he is one of them and a man with two gods is unknown to most though probably known to his friends. Friends like Bjorn Fellhanded of Kraken Bay.

Of all the soldiers that Oscar took with him into Nurgle's Mansion only Bjorn is left and of all the eldar save the Phoenix Lords only he remains. They were both friends in life and have remained friends in unlife and half-life. The Hunters have come to The Fang often down the long years and bang on his metal hide and wake him up for another adventure, often dragging impressionable younger warriors with them. Like Russ in ancient days they go charging out into the cold and the snow and disappear into the trees to not return for several months. But return they do with far fetched tales of daring deeds and for a time Bjorn speaks as if he were alive and whole and full of fire once more, carousing and singing and trying to dance.

But soon it is time to sleep, the Hunters move on, Bjorn returns to his nice warm workshop with it's comfy berth and soothing murmuring of The Fang's comings and goings and he sleeps again.

It is getting harder and harder to wake Bjorn these days. Sleep weighs heavily on his shoulders now. Soon, perhaps very soon, the sleep will be eternal and he will meet his old Nordyc gods. His long watch is coming to an end, his half-life is fading, and he is not very unhappy of that.

Of his friend the Old Harlequin? Who can say what he will do then. Perhaps they will still turn up to The Fang, perhaps they will also fade away. There aren't many Hunters of Kurnous left and their numbers are failing.

The Necroteuch should be the thing that gave the Broken the advantage over the Sane, allowing them to move in new directions and out maneuver the Sane.

It gives a reason fof them not trusting the Imperium now.

Also the ones encountered in the Eisenhorn books with the rubber fingers and stilts and shit must be the result of a hundred generations of mutations and degenerations.

Are there still Chaos-tainted Saruthi extant as well?
>>
>>54775888
Yes most probably.

They have access to the Webway and Eisenhorn only Exterminatused one of their worlds..
>>
>>54775888
Seeing as the Saruthi had about 80 worlds and the Sane hold about six I would say so. Or is it the Chaos ones were left with six and the Sane had a hidden world not on the maps they are staging their attacks from.

I like this depiction of the Saruthi. A bit of canon Eldar in being inscrutable and not buddy-buddy with the Imperium, yet firmly anti-Chaos in the case of the Sane and don't have the habit of pre-emptive douchbaggery that everyone else would consider an act of war like the canon Eldar would. So it makes more sense why the Saruthi are allies of convenience at best with the Imperium (and why the two don't trust each other but aren't at each others' throats).

And of course we have the "normal" crazy asymmetrical mutant Chaos-serving Saruthi as well.
>>
>>54776616

It looks like the six planets are Chaos-held and the Sane are hidden somewhere else.
>>
>>54776616
It's not that they are allies of the Imperium of convenience or otherwise. They do not much like humans and considering that their interactions prior to the Aschen War consisted of a bunch of Urshii "refugees" giving a tome of forbidden lore to the Broken and then the Inquisition nuking one of their ancestral homelands it's not hard to understand why.

Most probably when the wars have settled down when the prophesies of End Times are over they will return to their Hermit World, maybe very slowly rebuild what they have lost and never have to deal with anyone else ever again.

They are on the side of the Imperium in the manner that they both want the same things dead.

How about Gorgutz? Everyone's two favourite warbosses pitted against each other?
>>
>>54779099
Could be that he became a Chaos Ork after Lorn V, taking the exe of a khorne champion and it slowly seeping into him.

Gets kicked off of Lorn V by Imperial forced and flees to Kronus to rebuild and get even. Eventually Colonel-Farseer Taldeer and her Cadians kick him off of there as well.

He's out there, somewhere, building up his forces. He's going to try and take back Kronus at some point, the Imperial Guard and the first settlers are digging the fuck in and waiting for him.

>>
>>54782528
Damon but that's kunnin. Also explains why nobody has ever seen him.
>>
>>54781440
Okay how about this; Kronus is the dumping ground for IG Remnants. The regiments too broken and fractured to amalgamate effectively into a useful whole.

They have predictions from 2 Farseers (Caerys of Yme-Loc and Colonel-Farseer Taldeer) that Gorgutz is going to come back. Sadly neither can tell exactly when beyond definitely more than a few years probably a bit less then 20.

Imperial Soldiers also do often get Settlement Rights as an alternative to a pension.

To this end the Administratum is offering good land on Kronus to soldiers wanting to settle down and creating a PDF out of Guard leftovers. The Cadian 412th/Kronus 1st being the largest single cohesive old military chunk left.

There are also a lot of Kroot on the planet. They were never officially deployed but volunteered to help conquer Kronus because Shas'O Kais asked them to and promised them that they could stay and hunt and eat any resurgent or surviving orks.

Colonel-Farseer Taldeer is (at 999M41) effectively head of the PDF and currently, and she hopes temporarily, the nearest the planet has to an actual leader until a proper civilian government can be set up.

Also dies anyone remember the Dig the Fuck Inn threads we once had? If there are no objections I'm going to steal the shit out of that for Kronus.
>>

>>54783353
I keep seeing him hunting down some kind of squig that has purple blood or something similar and covers himself in camo marks Rambo-style using its blood as body paint to make sure he has an adequate supply of purple pigment.

Orks hear what he's done and assume he's a Boy because they don't see how a grot could be that ded 'ard. Also they rarely see him in the first place, but that's beside the point.

>>54781440
Assassinfag had a writeup of Taldeer way back in the first thread that mentions some of the stuff on Kronus. Some of it has been brought up in other contexts (Sturnn, LIVII, and Taldeer went into the Titan, Sturnn came out mortally wounded. Taldeer became Colonel-Farseer because of this. The more paranoid suggest this was an intentional ploy to gain command, but this contradicts the fact that Taldeer seemed to see Sturnn as a father figure and her relationship with LIVII hit a pothole after Kronus. The implication seems to be that LIVII was in a position where he could save either Sturnn or Taldeer, each telling him to save the other, and LIVII chose Taldeer (of course), who was resentful of it), others haven't. Parts of it need to be tweaked anyway based on newer fluff, like how Taldeer became a military brat in the first place, so there's room for more tweaking.

When the Imperium went to retake Kronus was it depopulated or where there people still living/surviving there?
>>
>>54785375
Excepts it turns out that instead of returning Kronus he goes to Kaurava; they do start with the same letter at least so close enough for a prediction for a Farseers.
>>
So for Kronus I'm imagining it being mostly slaughtered by a combination of orks, necrons and Chaos dipshittery before the Imperium gets the ball rolling and the IG arrives

There was, originally, only one decent sized city and that was the capital of Pavonis. It is now uninhabited and more than slightly radioactive. The origional inhabitants survivors on the planet are probably no more than a few tens of thousands, mostly those who were in isolated and remote regions of the planet and lucked out

End result is that with all the military people settling down the settlers outnumber the survivors considerably, not that the survivors are bothered if it means they are less likely to die next time it all goes to shit. Also it means that there is someone to give them a hand rebuilding civilization from the start as everything they had is broken now.

(I'm trying to remember the old thread)
First new settlements of note are mostly located on Marchers River due to the good arable land and the easy transport the river offers;

Bunker Town is the temporary capital, has a rudimentary space port, capital building is next door to the famous Dig the Fuck Inn, oldest permanent new building on the planet

Pillbox Harbor is a coastal port town in the delta of Marchers River. Named by Savlars and it manufactures and exports all of the recreational drugs on the planet bar the moonshine that everyone is making. Also fish. Lawless shit hole

Mast Town is a communications hub up in the mountain past the start of the river. It is populated by the Krieger remnants. They keep to themselves and expect you to do the same

The commissars that survived with their regiment remnants are trying to form some sort of police force, proving difficult

Valhallans, due to an administratum fuck up, were settled on a tropical island and are not enjoying it

Tallarns went following a Sister of Battle into the wastes to find enlightenment, they make occasional contact to confirm that they are still alive

Eventually, Luther led the Fallen Angles on invading Caliban to unearth The Consumer, which is said to be able to form Webway tunnels. The fighting at first saw little resistance until his warband halted to take The Consumer, most likely for his own personal use. Once the Fallen began setting up defenses, Lion launched a surprise attack to hunt down then kill Luther. When the Primearch confronted his brother, Luther was slaughtering many Dark Angles in melee combat. Both the blades of Lion and Luther clashed in a duel that those around them dare not interrupted for their own safety. In the beginning, it appeared as if either man would win but over time it was showing that Lion could simply endure much more than Luther. Nearing the end of the duel saw Luther slowly retreating until he was at Lion's mercy. At the time to deliver the final blow to kill Luther, one Fallen sorcerer used foul warpcraft to summon a suicidal contagion. Infecting himself with it, the sorcerer tackled Lion as he drew his sword for a two-handed stab. Lion easily cut him open then threw off the Fallen from his body but the fact the Fallen's blood touched Lion's skin caused him to go into a coma imminently. Although the illness was meant to kill both the Fallen and Lion, somehow he was still alive. With the Primearch laying motionless on the ground, Luther quickly fell back while organizing reinforcements to arrive onto the world.

Without a proper second-in-command, the Dark Angles quickly began losing to the Fallen Angles, it was clear Luther was going to win and thus the Space Marines shipped Lion off-world in a stasis pod as they tried to evacuate the planet. At the same time, the Watchers set off a timer connected to buried DAoT weapons all over the planet to ensure Chaos would never hold The Consumer. Luther also similarly ordered his troops to evacuate once his Fallen discover world-splitting bombs all counting down around The Consumer.

How does it sound?

I don't think that Eldrad hates Sreta as such. Not so far as actual hate.

She has amassed much in the Ulthran name and although her motives were utterly avaricious it is something he can make use of and as he is the common ancestor and patriarch of his house, when he can be bothered, he can commandeer those ships ans riches as he sees fit.

How many, roughly, took part in the Mansion Raid?
>>
>>54813123
Hm, you know I don't think that's been discussed; we've talked about the composition and some notable individuals who went along, but not the specific number. You'd need a small group to move fast but not so small you'd get quickly overwhelmed by the daemonic hordes. Maybe like 100-200 combined humans and Eldar?
>>
>>54807116
That's probably more like it. Eldrad doesn't hate Sreta, but he's not too pleased with some of the things she's doing and wouldn't mind seeing her get humbled a bit. On the one hand, she got her power by being damn clever (even Eldrad probably wouldn't have been able to run the cartel like she has), and her actions give Ulthwé a lot of resources and the ability to rush-buy things if need be. On the other, she got the metaphorical start-up capital to do so by capitalizing off her relationship to Eldrad (which is implied to be frowned upon) and the way she runs the cartel is kind of shady (Sreta plays favorites with her family members).

Taldeer is currently Eldrad's favorite because she rejected the cushy lifestyle of the cartel (which would have come at the cost of her ability to self-determinate) and decided to go make her own mark on the world, just as she would if he were in her situation. Taldeer making it on her own has also made her a beacon for the other unfavorite members of the Ulthran family, who were previously dependent on staying in Sreta's good graces to achieve things. So now the Ulthran cartel and the previously ostracized members are starting to get shit done.

It's been implied that out of all the human-eldar couplings in the galaxy, Taldeer and LIVII were the ones to get pregnant as a bit of a practical joke by Isha to get back at Eldrad for her sudden marriage to the Emperor (that is, a hybrid was going to happen, but Isha's influence over fertility in the galaxy made it happen to Eldrad's favorite child as a friendly joke). That, and Isha knows a hybrid baby would be a massive target and Eldrad will literally bend fate to keep his grandchild safe.

We know that some people died in the Mansion raid. Sangy's fluff mentions he almost got stuck there trying to save several wounded exarchs and astartes, and Jaghatai, Lion, Asurmen, and Baharroth had to bail him out.

On that note, the fact that Asurmen took part in the raid suggests he had figured out the reincarnation trick by then.

>Valhallans, due to an administratum fuck up, were settled on a tropical island and are not enjoying it

That is fucking glorious.

I also like the idea that it's really a poorly thought out method of the Administratum trying to solve Right of Settlement, regiment leftovers and garrison duty in one ill advised swoop.

It all looked so good on paper but you can't stick so many soldiers from so many distant worlds next to each other and expect them to get along.

It would also give a good explanation for Taldeer's perpetual aggression. Being the effective ruler of a planet is a cushy job, just not this planet.

Mordians and Preatorians, despite both being flavours of "British" do not get along. Preatorians are insufferable sticks in the mud and Mordians are turboplebs.

It's also the case that Eldrad had seen Lofn in some of his visions and really wanted to see her be born. She will be the perfect ambassador between craftworlds and humans.

There is also the matter of the brewing war between the gods and his own not insignificant efforts to bring it about. If Lofn masters her gifts and steps into the Astronomican it may only last a moment but the psychic mellow fog will amplify across all the galaxy as for a moment there will be no war or thought of war.

In that moment Khine will find Khorne disarmed, naked, skinless and vulnerable.

The gods didn't give enough attention to what Eldrad was doing once, it cost them but they comforted themselves that he was part of their schemes for most of The Raid. Without their assistance he would not have gotten as far as he did.

Then they left him for ~10,000 years and he's spent that time stacking the deck in his favour and when thetime comes he isn't going to partake in The Great Game, he's going to end it and force them to fight without proxy.
>>
Is Taldeer Eldrad's daughter or granddaughter?
>>
>>54820890
Way more distant than that. Something like a great-great-great-great-great-great-great-granddaughter. Assuming an Eldar generation is about 200 years, then Eldrad's been around for fifty of them.
>>
>>54822723
That makes the assumption that Eldrad hasn't been fathering children well into extreme old age.

>>
>>54818613
>>54823125
>>54825215
So, since we have the Light Side of the Keikaku laid out, what's going on with Vect?
>>
>>54825215
Sreta considers Eldrad the patriarch of the family. Any personal feelings she holds beyond that she feels are irrelevant. She's a distinctly unpleasant woman that does unpleasant things, but she knows Eldrad does good, and thus puts her resources at his disposal. She wishes Eldrad would be more dignified and more active in politics, rankles at Eldrad's long distance approval and praise of Taldeer, and holds an especial disdain at the more distant relations that Eldrad sees fit to entertain and allow to thrive. In Sreta's balance books, there's a great deal of money lost to 'Pointless Charity from Eldrad.'

But Sreta started on the path of the servant among the eldar, and it has shaped almost the whole of her character, even as she has pushed the letter of the law to the limit to gain enough power to be considered a figure of galactic influence. She still thinks of herself as a servant, even if she sometimes holds her self appointed master in disdain. If anyone asks, Sreta would state plainly that all she has done, and she does is for the good of Ulthwe, and Eldrad. Sreta has after all earned money and influence enough to make a great deal happen. Eldrad has made use of these resources from time to time, and Sreta has never begrudged them.

But there is a tension. Sreta feels that Eldrad doesn't understand the basics of business (Make sure money comes in, don't give shit away for free) and meddles too much. And Eldrad at times wonders at times if Sreta has grown too heartless. There are a lot of people out there that Sreta has driven into despair and poverty in the name of profit. And under the name of Ulthran.

tl;dr It's kind of complicated.

As I recall, Vect is married to Malys, dancing on a knife edge between the more traditional dark eldar and the chaos eldar. Beyond that, I don't remember anything. He needs more keikakus though, that's for sure.
>>
>>54825353
Vect is running the City of Sins and that is a full time job, especially now the Chaos in-laws are allowed in. The 1 Law of no Warp Shenanigans in the city limits still holds true and is held to all, even the wife and in-laws. The Chaos Eldar essentially becoming another collection of twisty assholes in a city of twisty assholes.

Add to this the recent mass exodus of anyone with any shriveled vestigial sense of decency and it's just concentrating the poison.

He doesn't do any of that raiding business much anymore, though when he does it's bloody awful, he usually relies of underlings and lesser plebs to do that for him and bring him the sweetest treasures out of devotion, obedience and the certainty of a living Hell if they don't. Much like Guilliman he can do so much more behind a desk/on a throne than he can on the field.

Under his rule the city thrives and bustles like a merry little ant hill full of psychopaths a monsters and despite he impression of total anarchy their is some measure of direction to it all, and that direction is because of Vect. He is a cat herder without peer.

His wife is the only razor blade in the Vaseline and her constant nagging for more fucked up super soldier abortions, more cannon fodder conscripts, more drugged slave soldiers, etc, etc. He points out that he has very carefully contrived shit so that the birth rate and monster creation rates are on the rise in preparation for her ever so entertaining wars. Him not treating the wars like holy duty pisses her off and he does it on purpose because then she can have a legitimate reason to murder him in their bed and that makes his serial deaths all the sweeter when she means them. Of course it's not one sided and he's strangled her to innumerable times now for getting up in his business.

Eldrad has still been getting around despite his old age. Maybe not as much as in his old age, but he hasn't started feeling his age until the last few millenia. Think Voltaire from Girl Genius and his legion of children, some that look young and some that look as old as him.

That said, it was suggested in a previous thread that because of minimal aging eldar don't really have a term for "grandfather". The literal translation of the word is "venerable father", and applies to every genetic parent you've had aside from the ones who directly concieved you. So by eldar standards Eldrad is Lofn's grandpa, no matter how many generations removed.

However, it was implied that Taldeer comes from a more recent relationship than Sreta, with the two of them having different mothers/grandmothers. It's just one more wedge between the two. Taldeer is like a granddaughter or great-granddaughter by human standards.

In the latest years of the 41st millennium, around the Gravel Pits subsector, a peculiar band of Savlar schizos has made its name renown. Shipped offworld in the late 37th millennium, as an effort to reclaim that distant subsector lost to the first Tyranid invasion, they were tought lost in te warp when they lost contact with the larger Imperium.
The reality was much more... embarassing. The commander in chief for the expedition died of old age, his rotting corpse barely held togheter by rejunevants. His sons were a couple of twin rogue traders, that spent all their life competing for their father admiration while he was disappointed by their scheming ways, their unwillingness to make a life for themselves in the military, and he hated the way their fleets always ended up operating around his expeditions.
So, they were around this time too, and upon arrival in this distant subsector of barren rocks, emptied of any natural resources, they pulled the strings of all the friends they made in dad's military, and set them upon each other. They were trying to make a new life for themselves and use the occasion to end the trade war that went between them for decades in an actual war.
It never ended.
This once semi-regimented Savlar Guardsmen fought incessantly against eachother, unbeknowst to the Emperor, for three millennia, even long after both brothers and their bickering ways were forgotten.
The military expediction, having to rely only on supplies and far from the light of the Astronomican, regressed in technology to something somewhat comparable to middle-20th century Terra, with only remnants of more advanced technology being jealously keeped by the descendedants of specialized Guard operators, nnow known as "Engies".

These two groups of grizzled veterans, after centuries of war as their only costant in life, have developed a quirky and flamboyant culture. The organic tissue that was too hard to replicate for the few Adeptos Biologis with the fleet was, strangely enough, tessiles. While they could still have no shortage of food, water, and ammo, thaks to the few primitive factorums installed on the planets of Badwater, Dustbowl and Granary (these people started naming their colonies either very bluntly on very ironically), clothes and uniforms were in constant shortage. To make up for this, the commanders of thiese devolved mercenaries started to make use of very simplified uniform designs, with the two factions distinguishing themselves through vivid colors, Red and Blue, that later became the name of these pseudo-military corps, hhaving long lost memory of the original Savlar Regiment designation.
The lack of clothing also extended to civillian life, with most people having to resort to very humble, simple clothing. Possessing colorful clothes, flamboyant dresses and especially hats was widely regarded as a sign of prestige, and so among these warring bands, having colorful clothes is a sign of wealth, experience, and skill on the battlefield, as often the best garments and headwear were looted from the falllen enemy.

These soldiers are barely integrated in the Imperial coomand chain, being subject to the orders of Segmentum Ultima Command mostly only formally, so they are used as loose dogs against enemies you can't possibly hope to reason with on desolated or already irrecuperably depopulated planets.

If it is a nuked and radioactive crap heap then it would have to have been worth nuking so there must have been people there once.

How is the Blood Angels organized post-breakup? Have they gone full knightly orders liek the DAs or are they still a Legions kind of?

Also Astorath Front has wings. Is he an actual descendant of Sangy?

How human are the Nova Ogryn?
>>
>>54845070
I'm imagining that Baal is a former shithole. Name could be indicative that some distant ancestor of Sangy was a Dark Age captain or head colony founder.

Like many human worlds when the Age of Strife came about everything went to shit and it was Terra type warlords all over again for thousands of years. By the time one of the Blood Angels Expeditionary Forces got there everything of any value was broken. Also it seemed that the inhabitants as recent as 300 years prior had discovered an old cache of nukes, planet was just crawling out of a nuclear war.

It was also probably the most peaceful the planet had been for a long time. Age of Strife was ended and the Warp was calmer. Dangerous insanity was on the decline, unstable psykers were rarer, deamonic manifestation incidents were falling in both frequency and magnitude.

There were nation states reappearing, even acting peaceful and friendly when the IXth Legion, under the command of Captain Amit, made contact and it was a bonus that they could give them warning ahead of time via radio to mitigate the shock value.

The inhabitants were operating at a 1890 - 1910 level of technology in some places but in others were still massively regressed, almost back to the late Neolithic. Higher civilization was, understandably, primarily located around the oasis in the seemingly endless arid wasteland. There were isolated examples of old remnant pocket societies sustaining themselves off of the old fallout shelters and bunkers, they were typically isolationist hermit towns and looked upon the Blood Angels with the distrust they shared with everyone.

The relatively high tech societies and their even if thin spread across that dusty globe were of great help to Captain Nassir Amit and his efforts to unify the planet into something useful to the Imperium.

I'm picturing it as being much like Fallout: New Vegas planet edition. There are pockets of Mad Max flavoured NCR interspersed by huge tracts of Book of Eli and Caesar's Legion.

The bunker isolationists would be lower tech Vualts. Sophisticated enough to be self sustaining more or less but not with anything game changing.

It says in the Sangy story that no up and coming commander was worthy of the job so they broke up.

Also with no clear leader and Sangy having spent centuries teaching a sense of humble duty to them it's probable that they would have accepted, at least to some degree, Guilliman's Codex suggestions as a direction to go in.

The worlds with their recruitment stations would have been their chapter homeworlds, the ones left over would have been nomadic.

Given the existence of Astorath it's probable that they maintained or adopted a tradition of exchanging experts as needed to maintain close ties.

So mostly Codex adherents but with the occasional batshit chapter like the Flesh Tearers and Blood Drinkers.

Baal was a lifeless rockball when the Blood Angels found it. They called it Baal in honor of their primarch and to show that they are all essentially "Sons of Sanguinius" despite not being his genetic descendants. People still flock to the Blood Angels despite not having much of a native Baalite population because they're Blood Angels and Sanguinius was hugely admired across the Imperium.

Sangy's son was the one who led the Blood Angels after Sangy died. People expected him to take up command of the whole of the Blood Angels like nothing happened but he declined because he felt unworthy and knew that anything he did would be compared to the standards of his father. So he took command of a more modest size of Blood Angels, almost all of them veterans (I think mostly from the siege of Sol, but I know the Blood Angels guarding the palace were supposed to be almost entirely wiped out).

They're said to look like Warcraft orcs (at least the style from the recent movie) crossed with Neanderthals and the like. Broad, built like a brick wall, big tusks but not dumb as a sack of bricks like in canon. Not as smart as baseline humans but there is a huge degree of overlap; BONEheads commanders (who are already among the brightest of the Nova Ogryn before they get the procedure) can talk military tactics on par with their baseline human counterparts.

Someone once described their thought process regarding warp stuff and it sounded like what you'd expect from a Stone Age civilization.

I can see that. Just like real great apes. People think they're cute and funny from what they see in the media but meeting them in person is a bit of a disappointment.

The Jokaero have been mentioned to be Xenos Independens, like the Hrud. Not hostile, but at the same time not Imperial citizens because you can't get beyond basic communication (i.e., what you see modern humans doing with dolphins and great apes) with them. Jokaero are essentially non-sentient animals that are genetically hardwired to make tools (at least, that's the impression they give off).

People still don't try to use Jokaero despite being near-sapient test subjects outside Imperial law because multilasers.

It has been mention that Inqusitor Coteaz has a reputation of being the “Jokaero whisperer”, just as in canon. He knows full well that the Jokaero aren’t sapient in the way that other species like humans and kinebrach are, so in order to get them to do what you want you have to put things in their terms. Treat them like great apes that know how to make guns. You don't get the Jokaero to stay where you want them with cages or build what you want with threats. You get them to do what you want via positive reinforcement (as in, gives best treats in exchange for making stuff).

Coteaz' actual retinue also has a large number of kinebrach, who tend to bring their own raygun gothic style weapons. They get kind of pissed if you compare them to the Jokaero (they were *hired* for one, they'd say, or point out that if you were to call Coteaz' research "a barrel full of monkeys" you'd have to include humans in that count).

I think those are supposed to be his jump pack. There was a Blood Angel in canon who had actual wings, but he was revealed to be corrupted by Chaos.

Probably a stupid idea, but I keep thinking that maybe in this timeline everyone's favorite pigeon strangler Celestine is a distant descendant of Sanguinius whose genes lined up just right that she got the wings and psyker powers of her great^3000 grandfather, since we don't have Imperial Saints in the same way in this timeline.

Since the SoB are secular in this timeline and the Eclessiarchy isn't really a thing, maybe she was born in the same heavily Katholian region of space that Miriam Cain is from.

Possibly she originates from Ophelia VII, in Vanilla a Cardinal world in this Noble Darkness a Katholian Theocracy.

She could be a descendant of Sanguinius Baal. She doesn't carry the name Baal and not being nobility her family records don't go back much further than her great grandparents.

Possibly the psyker genes come with the wings considering that Sanguinius was tailor made that way. If the wings actually work then she would have to be psychic in order to bend gravity and shit enough to actually fly.

The claims of her being a descendant of Sanguinius, never a claim she has pushed beyond "probably, how many other winged humans have there been?", is causing some measure of renewed zeal and among the Katholians of Ophelia VII and surrounding systems. Now the masses are calling for renewed holy war with Celestine to hold the banner. Given the times and the no shortage of targets this is not the problem it could be so long as it is directed properly. The trick is slowing it down to get the supply chains, training and equipment in place to make it worth while.
>>
On the subject of holy women with weirdness what of Cyrene Valantion, The Blessed Lady?

It's also possible that Coteaz isn't sure if the Jokaero are taking the piss or not.

Their movement's and migrations seem to him to be far too directed and deliberate to be purely instinct and fruit driven.

There seems to be something that has a vague ability to direct them down certain paths to where they need to be but hasn't enough direct control to dictate what they do when they get there.

Out of all the places in the Galaxy there are richer sources of food and more safety then in the guard regiment being deployed. But a disproportionate number of them end up there, right where they can upgrade shit in strange and unpredictable ways.

His own retinue is a prime example of this. There are far safer places to be and indeed they often leave him after a short time, but others always turn up.

And on rare occasions they have deliberately fought. There is nothing more oddly terrifying that watching a Jokaero fashion bizarre war gear out of scrap and then shredding Necrons and Chaos Eldar with hand held reality violations. It's the surreal terror of watching something harmless become horrifying. Coteaz has only seen this happen two or three times, Jokaero typically run at the first hint of danger. He has only seen it at all because of his extensive contact with them.

The rest of the Inquisition think that Coteaz has gone mildly eccentric with his talk of directed Jokaero behaviors because it contradicts thousands of years of what everyone else has seen. Sometimes Coteaz thinks maybe they are right, maybe he is just seeing shapes in the clouds. But then he sees one of the Jokaero out of the corner of his eye, not hunched over but standing proud, tow big black eyes like bottomless pits and something else looking back at him. He turns to look properly and the Jokaero slumps back into it's usual behavior and the thing behind those eyes flickers away and he can almost believe he imagined it. Almost.
>>
>>54862681
It could be that the Jokaero do this in a half-remembered instinct to what the Old Ones put in them. They were engineered to see the eldar and other races uplifted by the Old Ones as their allies and the Necrons as their enemies and instinctively fight alongside the former.

At least, that's what the Imperial Scholars in the "Jokaero are just animals" camp see it.

Ophelia VII sounds like a good place.

I think it was said in canon that Sanguinius needed his psyker powers to fly, and that the wings and the psychic-ness go together.

Celestine’s birth would have caused a bit of a freakout, because two normal humans giving birth to a winged infant just screams “mutant”. Ophelia VII also probably had a relatively low mutation rate due to the high faith levels of the average person , which might be enough for the hospital to check the baby for signs of Warp corruption. Yet, when the baby was tested in fears of Chaos contamination, it came back negative.

Celestine had a rather humble childhood out in the rural areas of Ophelia VII, albeit one without a lot of social interaction due to her condition. Celestine’s family were mainly pigeon farmers, and Celestine spent a lot of her childhood mucking out bird poop. That lasted up until she was about twelve or thirteen.

Then the visions came.

Some were good. Some were mundane. Some were horrible. And some came true. Having visions of the future isn’t exactly a novel trait in the Imperium. In a galaxy of quadrillions, there are many who can see some, ranging from the most skilled Eldar farseer. But the visions plus the wings was enough to get the whole “descendant of Sanguinius” train rolling.
>>
>>54865782 (cont.)
That was years ago. Celestine is a grown woman now. Celestine reminds me a lot of Jeanne D’Arc, only one who instead of being burned at the stake had to become hard in order to survive the horrors of the galaxy. Nobledark or not, this is still the Warhammer 40k universe. Orks don’t care if your banna wavva refuses to pick up a weapon to defend themselves. Celestine has killed multiple times, and is haunted by the fact that so many good men and women have died because of her words. She knows how important it is for her to remain a symbol of hope to the people of Ophelia VII and the Katholians, but quite frankly it’s draining.

Celestine honestly doesn’t care about the whole “descendant of Sanguinius” thing. Sanguinius lived so many years ago that the number of people who can claim descent from him could probably fill a solar system. The same thing is true with Guilliman, Vulkan, or Khan. And although she’s a hardcore Katholian Sanguinius isn’t really seen as a prophet in that religion. What she does care about is that it gets people to listen to her, and if people do that then maybe she can prevent the horrible things she sees in her visions from coming to pass.

Celestine’s skills and psychic strength don’t seem as potent as Sanguinius, but then again Sanguinius was a Mark III S Astartes who lived for hundreds of years. It’s possible that Celestine’s level of psychic development is what Sanguinius would have been if he were her age and hadn’t been augmented at age 17 (or so).

And, of course, not everyone trusts Celestine. Some Inquisitors are suspicious of the events on Ophelia VII, pointing out that not all Warp corruption is Chaos-derived.

At least, that's the best way I can figure it with no Imperial Sainthood and changing things to avoid stepping on the Sanguinor's toes thematically.

Two so far. Hector Rex is the representative of the Inquisition. The Inquisition do a 10 year rotating thing, so no one member of the Inquisition gets entrenched in Old Earth politics and gets too much power, and because there's Eldar inquisitors and nobody (probably including the Eldar Inquisitors themselves) want an eldar representative to be there for 3000 years. The person who gets elected tends to be the expert on what's threatening the Imperium this decade. Because shit has gotten real across all fronts simultaneously you get Hector.

The envoy from the Navilis Nobilite, Fedor Jiao, is...indisposed at the moment. He was a real force for reform, and then he got put in an awkward position by Ulkair, Kyras, and the Chaos Eldar when he found out the tyranids ate Andromeda. Oscar figured out he was compromised about five seconds after he landed on Earth and he hasn't been heard from since.

I like this image of Celestine, it shows her as a person more than a force of nature. I think Sangy wasn't made a Katholian saint due to him never actually having been Katholian but like all people in the Imperium the citizens of Ophelia VII hold his name high due to him having been a genuinely good person who died saving the human species.

But Celestine is Katholian to the bone and marrow and she is almost certainly the only unquestionably legitimate heir to Sanguinius. This combined with traditional iconography and angelic depictions makes her a perfect banner holder, there is no need for a recruitment drive in the Ophelia sector, if anything now there is need to restrict the recruitment so as not to deprive man power from vital industries.

As for Celestine her life has taken a turn that she did not want. She wanted to be a farmer like her parents or maybe become a nun. Now regardless of her desires or intent she is a mid scale political focus. She knows that she will receive rejuvenant treatments to extend her usefulness to the Imperium as long as possible, she will not be permitted to become a nun, she will have to take a husband to preserve the line of Sanguinius (probably one of noble stock, though not if she has any say in it and the burgeoning relationship with her squire) and she will spend the rest of her long life shipped from one war front to another bolstering moral.

Presumably children would require Vect refraining from murdering Malys for the entire gestation. If that is, as has been suggested, an entire year then that is a truly remarkable show of self restraint from Vect.
>>
>>54866676
Given that he wasn't planning the deed for selfish reasons and was motivated by trying to save the all organic mortal life in the galaxy it's possible that he won't be executed/servitored.

Given that his fuck up and poor judgment was so severe it received attention from the Emperor himself if he doesn't get a quick execution he will have all knowledge of the offending incident and everything related to it scoured from his brain and then transferred to some nowhere ship with all his authority stripped away.

Assuming he cooperates. Oscar may have the capacity to forgive an honest if foolish mistake but he was also once known as Warlord and he is very capable of killing a man dispassionately.

This could be one in-universe speculation. The Milky Way is under attack from Andromeda, the Tyranids being a bio weapon. Presumably, Imperial scholars believe, they fire these things or things like them, at all neighbouring galaxies to depopulate the area and prevent any attack on themselves preemptively on the principle that the ground is salted.

Then an eldar raised Ultramarian Librarian taps into the Hive like the mad man that he is, but what he saw there is classified as shit.

Could have been the lover of Sanguinius.

Maybe she was one of the kids he used to hang around with when he used to escape the palace as a child and adolescent. Around her he was normal as she was blind and couldn't see his deviations.

She is remembered to history as Cyrene Valantion the Blessed Lady and is referenced much as this in old tomes but nobody knows why. Sanguinius didn't let his personal life interfere with his job and almost nothing is known of his personal life after he became Primarch because the reverse was also true.

Oscar remains silent on the subject because if Sangy didn't want it written down he sure as shit isn't going to start talking now.

Or is this a step too far?

The best part (for Chaos) is that once Jiao talked to Ulkair he was screwed either way. Jiao sought out Ulkair to see what Chaos would want for their assistance against the tyranids. Nowhere does it say what his reaction to Nurgle’s price would be. Jiao could have been prepared to offer all kinds of horrible things, but gone “NOPE” the minute he found out the price was throwing Isha (and the stability of the Imperium) under the bus. However, regardless of what his decision on the offer was, he was compromised either way. Even if Jiao said “no way” to Nurgle now, he would always have that temptation lingering in front of him. So he’s a liability either way.

On top of that, Nurgle’s price in and of itself was a suicide mission. To do so Jiao would have to get past the Adeptus Custodes, who could tear him in half, the Handmaidens, who could tear him in half, a very angry Emperor, who could tear him in half, just to get to Isha. Who could tear him in half.

From Chaos’ point of view, either they get Isha back (unlikely), or they remove someone who was a force for rooting out corruption in the Imperium and making it stronger. Win-win from their perspective.

>>54877059
Sanguinius was mentioned to have kids, which means he would have had to have a relationship with someone.
>>
>>54878656
In vanilla she got resurrected.

In this AU she could make occasional appearances down the ages. Nothing that can be proven. A gentle voice with kind and wise words to neophytes unsure of their duties or a bringer of omens to Chapter Masters. Sort of a Lady of the Lake type figure.

The Blood Angels don't know who or what she is/was, they just know her as what they see her now. The Blessed Lady, The Blind Guide, Lady in the Red Dress and a few other names. There are a few books, more pamphlets really, written by the Chaplains that say that she might be some sort of angelic creature or rare benevolent warp spirit.

There is no hard proof that she exists.
>>
>>54875599
There's also the speculation that the tyranids are just one piece of a massive intergalactic ecosystem, and the Milky Way has been spared the worst of it because it was the personal petrie dish of psychic lizard wizards for millions of years.

There's also the hypothesis that the tyranids are a Singularity event gone horribly wrong, and the Zoats may have been the base species (though we know some race at some point did the Silver Surfer thing to become the Zoats, we just don't know if Zoats were the ur-tyranids or a simulacrum of a later victim), though this is yet another in-universe theory that has been difficult to prove or disprove, leaving the tyranids mysterious.

Speaking of which, it looks like 1d4chan is no longer allowing edits without a nametag. This may be a problem.

>>54869758
Malys and Vect certainly have chemistry (in the way that cyanide and arsenic do, but still). Malys enjoys having someone around who isn't a brain-dead idiot. Vect enjoys being with someone who can get on his level of depravity. There probably was and still is a bit of "love" there, but as someone pointed out the relationship now is more about the hatesex and fucking Imperial shit up as much as anything else.

Their relationship has been described as "the galaxy's most famous on-again, off-again relationship". This implies that the two have broken up at some point. Presumably sometimes the breakup is mutual. Presumably sometimes Malys breaks up with Vect. Presumably sometimes Vect breaks up with Malys. Can you imagine the balls Vect must have to say "it's not you, it's me" to the freaking Daemon Queen. Not to mention the ensuing metaphorical and literal fallout from Malys' post-relationship rampage.

The scary thing is, by Croneworld standards Malys and Vect's relationship is probably seen as a romantic comedy where a "quirky" girl helps a "repressed" guy come out of his shell.
>>
>>54878908
So it's like the situation with Vulkan in the codices; there was a Cyrene Valantion, who is historically recorded to have lived and died throughout the ages, but there are also a bunch of historical inconsistencies at odds with these dates (like vanilla!Vulkan protesting the Codex Astartes when he was supposed to be dead at that time)?

In this scenario, Cyrene isn't as well known as Yolande or Russ and Khan's wives because there was always more weird apocryphal stuff surrounding Sanguinius than any of the other primarchs due to his popularity and it gets hard to tell fact from fiction.
>>
>>54875599
You know, I pretty much had this exact idea when someone asked who Belarius' mother was (not Cyrene specifically, but Sangy's childhood sweetheart). So for what it's worth, this idea has my approval and it seems everyone else likes it too.

Also, stuck in a rut on the Angron bio, so I did some other writing. OC incoming below:

His eyes opened.

The fog of sleep receded, and the image before him focused. Grey. A metal bulkhead, same as every time he awakened. He stretched slightly. Muscles biological and artificial tensed, then relaxed. Everything functioning properly. Good.

His jaw clenched as a flood of information was dumped into his mind. Names, faces, places. Targets. He flicked through them, then stored them. The flow of data abruptly ceased. He exhaled. The walls of the cryo pod pressed down around him. Once, they had been suffocating. Now they were snug. Familiar. Oases of calm that broke up the unending violence that was his life.

He reached for his touchstone. The singular emotion that reminded all who gave their humanity for the Imperium they were not yet beasts. Each one was different, unique and personal to the operative. Joy, honor, fear. He vaguely recalled that Operative XIV’s was contentment. When had she told him that? He couldn’t remember.

He found his. It flared along nerves and neurons deadened by training and drugs and surgery. A moment of unfettered emotion. Sorrow. That was his. Sorrow for the lives he would take. The things he would do. He nodded even as he blinked back tears. Death still had this effect on him. He wasn’t a monster yet. Satisfied, he leaned his head back against his headrest.

He closed his eyes, and waited.

The sun was bright as he crossed the plaza towards the towering spire. It had rained during his last three awakenings, and he felt a brief twinge of pleasure at the warmth. Only a twinge though. He was already at a quarter of combat dose. He could feel the mix of chemicals upon his brain, deadening unnecessary sensation.

The glass doors at the entrance slid open with a hiss, and he stepped through. His eyes flicked over the lobby, left to right, and memorized the layout in that glance. Columns for cover, access points both up and out of the building. He compared it to the blueprints already stored in the back of his mind. More decorative vegetation than indicated. Could obscure lines of sight.

He adjusted his thick black coat and shifted the large case he carried in his right hand as he approached the front desk. The receptionist smiled up at him. He focused on her face. Images and text flitted up on the inside of his retina: Elisa Sodes, 26, recently hired by the organization. No match on his list of targets. Not a tertiary threat. Existence acceptable.

He blinked, and the images disappeared. He allowed the corners of his mouth to tug up in a pleasantly neutral expression. “Hello,” he said. “Special courier delivery for House Feckward.”

The receptionist nodded and gestured toward an elevator bank. “That will be signed for and received at the public reception hall on floor 80.”
He nodded in thanks and stepped into an open elevator. He paused, and called back to the receptionist. “There may be a commotion in a moment. Perhaps you should leave before then.”

Confused, she frowned and turned towards the elevator. The doors were shut and he was already gone.

Inside the elevator, he pulled a small device from his pocket and tapped a few buttons. The device took several moments as it sliced through the electronic security in the elevator’s cogitator, and a panel on the wall lit up as it acknowledged its destination. Floor 275.

Floor 275 was the level on which House Feckward’s personal compound began, where they had their private offices and where their members lived. Where they manipulated the planetary government. Where they consorted with daemons. The rotten heart of this Trader house that was condemned to die.
As the elevator began to move he set down his case and shrugged off his coat. Beneath it lay the black armored synskin bodyglove taut over his augmented musculature. If anyone was watching the elevator cameras they were sure to raise the alarm. But then, subtlety wasn’t the point.

He bent down and opened his case. Two tiers of equipment unfolded before him. Melta charges, grenades, clawed gauntlets, Executioner pistol and phase sword lay nestled in the foam before him. In the center lay the leering, white skull helm that was the mark of his Temple. His hands flicked across the case as he prepared his equipment. Under his breath he murmured the creed he had learned so long ago. A moment of quiet before the storm. A prayer for the damned.
>>
>>54879420

---

“The Imperium calls, and this loyal servant answers.”

He fastened the melta charges to his belt, and slotted the grenades into the bandolier across his chest.

“Lost men have sown the seeds of their destruction, and I come to reap these souls of the tainted.”

He flicked the switch on the phase sword, sending it crackling to life. Another flick, and he sheathed it at his side.

“Let them fear me, and in their fear learn the meaning of righteousness.”

He racked the slide on the Executioner pistol, locking a bolt into place in the top chamber. He activated bottom chamber, and it hissed as a needle slid into place, filled with mutagenic acid. He secured the pistol in the holster on his thigh.

“Let the Throne watch over me, and grant blessing to my vengeance.”

He pulled on the clawed gauntlets, and paused as they tightened and integrated with his bodyglove. The pressure sensitive pumps on the claws activated, ready to inject their lethal payload. Quick, blissful death via endorphin overload on the left, slow, agonizing paralysis on the right.

“Let us never again break our vows, or forget the truth…”

He picked up his helm, the skull grinning back at him. He slid it over his head and waited as the autosenses activated and it sealed into his armor with a click. The elevator was slowing. He turned towards the doors.

“…of these things we do, that others may live,” he finished.

The doors slid open.

She would be created as an agent and entertainment for her 'mother' where all the cyborg parts make Reri look more Man then Eldar, more machine then organic. Some in the Imperium might think she is the Impossible Child in the prophecies but even that is stretching it a bit.

Me gusta. Lets go home everyone, I think Sangyfag has won the Eversor contest.

I really like how it captures that Grammaton Cleric/Faceless Man idea that was thrown around.

I kept thinking "now all this needs is for him to put the mask on Dishonored-style" and then you went and did it. You madman.

Reri the abominable cyborg toy did come up in an old thread, that she was a gift from someone like Fabius Bile or some other Haemonculus. I'm all for more elaboration, but remember that she's a monster made of Eldar and Human bits and deadly weapons with a "mother" that toys with her at best, not a cute little girl.

I'd combine the Lady in the Lake with the Blood Angels equivalent of the grim reaper. Maybe she appears to a Death Company veteran, worn and broken looking down odds that he can't see the other side of. She would not offer him a way out, not if there is no way out, but she would offer him comfort. She will be there when the load gets too heavy, when the pain gets too much, when he fall for the last time she will catch him.

It won't offer him any practical help but it will offer him some measure of comfort in those last moments.

She is like the Savlar gods. Nobody has been able to prove her a deamon or even existing, but the visions all share too many similarities to be coincidence. In the case of Cyrene Valantion her name is forgotten by all bar one old immortal but many Blood Angels know her now as The Blessed Lady and they can all give an identical description from the red dress to the grey blind eyes.

The apparitions have in recent centuries been gradually increasing in frequency. Nobody in the chapter knows what this means by they are hopeful. Some in the Death Company even go in to battle screaming some variation of "For The Blessed Lady" to the confusion of their allies.

I would honestly say no.

The main factions haven't changed basic faction flavor since Vanilla beyond actually getting good at their jobs.

Only real change is the mixing of flavours to get Chaos Orks, which gives the orks more scope for character but it's just different flavours of bastard.
>>
>>54891003
That's pretty much what an Ork Freebooter is right? An atypical Ork that happens to like teef even more than krumpin, who you can sort of point in the right direction to krump the people you want him to. Pretty sure there are a few Rogue Traders in canon that hire Ork Freebooters.

so has taldeer ever done any pinup art for troop morale or
>>
>>54900398
I would say not.

One of her big life goals is to get as far away from the life Sreta was herding her into which was, as she saw it, a pretty little commodity.

Also she relies on the respect and confidence of her Cadians, not their lust for her.

Also in the last thread someone put forth that she dress like this

>Cadian "soup bowl" helmet slightly adapted for not crushing her ears. Built in radio.
Osmotic Gill type gas mask and night vision goggles that clip together and neatly slot into the face of the helmet providing a full gas mask.

>Standard Cadian plain issue underwear set.
Basic issue fatigues with rank insignia inexpertly sewn on

>Cadian-flack greatcoat. Combat webbing and a medium sized backpack.

>Standard size 7 boots.

>Armed with standard issue laser pistol and combat knife.

>Additional equipment in the form of a psychic focusing staff.

>Taldeer was gifted by Eldrad of the same family a psy-focusing crystal before she left Ulthwe, it is assumed that this is inside the ork skull atop the staff. Originally the shaft of the staff was ribbon tree wood with copper wire running over the surface but was replaced after breakage in the conquest of Kronus when it was used as an improvised club. Staff shaft is now made of some sort of lightweight titanium alloy.

>The ground end of the staff was altered by a wandering tribe of Jokaero that attached itself to the regiment for a short time. In exchange for the regimental banana crate they upgraded much of the regiments equipment. Taldeer's staff now ends with a retractable piston spike.

Moral in the Kronus 1st is sufficiently boosted by having a colonel that is competent, genuinely cares about the lives under her command and can see the future to some extent and has a Vindicare on permanent loan.

So, would Chris Orksen be a thing in the Nobledark AU? Nothing for any serious lore or plot, just as a side character and side content for humor.

And the thing with that is that they managed to maintain a professional working relationship in an environment where one or either could quite easily die. Their only misdemeanour was lying about it for years and continuing to lie about it until the pregnancy was too far along to hide. It's not even as if it's illegals as such due to Assassins being outside the military.

Despite all of this her Cadians see her as nothing more or less than their right and proven colonel. They would be offended at the idea of a Taldeer pinup and terrified of what the Colonel-Farseer would think of and do to the fool to suggest it to her.

The only problem arises when she has to deal with other eldar who see her as an amusingly petite qt π with slutty ears.

>>
>>54894439
Yes.

But she was always intentionally kept out of the spotlight.

At some point she presumably died but being more or less a nobody this would have been of not real interest to anybody.

Down the long, long years she has appeared to people.

As the dying of the Dark Millennium approaches the appearances have been increasing.

She may be becoming more real, clawing her way back across the veil somehow. Something nobody should be able to do, so she must be getting help.

She is dead but Ynnead is the Dead God Dreaming so it's possible that she has become his Herald, his Angel of Death.

>>54904437
Have we decided or discussed what sort of creature Ynnead will be?
>>
>>54904437
I don't think she would have had to been hidden away, though she could have voluntarily avoided the spotlight. Many of the Primarchs had families and once Belarius was born it would have raised the question of who his mother was. Family would have been important to Sangy too; after being treated by his father like an investment and a legacy rather than an actual son, he would have vowed to be a better man and father than his old man ever was.

The reincarnation/Ynnead stuff is pretty weird, but I've been avoiding the HH books so I have no idea whether that gels thematically with canon Cyrene or not.
>>
>>54909661
I also have been avoiding HH if I'm perfectly honest.

From what I can gather Cyrene was one of the inhabitants of the city the Logar's people built and the Emperor nuked. She was blinded by the light of the atomic fire. She either fell then or fell to Chaos later. At some point she dies and is brought back by Chaos.

In this AU I'm imagining her as one of the childhood friends that Sanguinius had when he regally snuck out of the palace. Back when his wings hadn't grown too much and he could hide them under a coat and just look like he had a fucked up spine. and shoulders.

Cyrene Valantion was a factory worker from age 5 or 6 onward and unsafe working conditions and fumes gradually took her eyes, going so far as to fuck with the optic nerves and make replacements difficult.

Sanguinius would visit her often as they grew up though at the time she never knew who he was and by the time the wigs were getting impossible to hide she was almost completely blind.

Then events of state take over, Duscht Jemanic and up absorbed into Europia and the Imperium, Sanguinius becomes a general in The Warlord's army and he doesn't see her again for several years.

Sanguinius was always super human, he was made that way. It's possible that the next time he saw her was during a victory parade after the surrender of Merika and the completion of Earth Unification. He would have been in the parade in all his splendor, he was nothing if not magnificent and scanning he crowd he would have picked her out as a recognized face among the masses. She would not, under the Imperium, have been half starved and ill looking but he would have recognized her all the same.

After the parade he would have looked for her and asked his most trusted people to do so. It would not have been with any intent beyond just wanting to see a familiar face from a more innocent time.

Cyrene Valantion presumably did not know who her childhood friend was which would have been awkward.

It may be a step too far, but their resemblance to earth orangutans seems to beg the explanation that they were linked to ancient earth. Maybe just as another in universe theory, but it makes sense that Jokaero might be a remnant of the Great and Bountiful Human Empire, or even long diverged uplifts from early human expansion.

> Normally, these things like being shot through the arm, twice, didn't incur that much reaction from an Eldar. This is where they keep a straight face using their psyker war mask to only express fury and bloodlust when in combat. All other feelings such as compassion and empathy are suppressed. The problem with an Eldar becoming an Inquisitor is that a war mask is detrimental in an investigation. Without the war mask, however, Genevieve was absorbing then expressing all the pain that was inflicted upon her. Again, being grazed shouldn't have that much of a reaction from the Inquisitor. That is not taking into account Eldar ears, tongue, soles, and fingertips are the most over sensitive parts of their body, resulting in excruciating suffering when hurt.

That is how I interpreted it.

I'd expect Cadian officer's garb to be nearly identical to that of a line trooper, honestly. Both for reasons of unit cohesion and to make it more difficult for snipers.
>>
>>54926238

Given the sheer number of (highly psychic) children they were implied to have taken in over the millennia, probability says the answer is almost certainly yes.
>>
>>54926924
I just want to see taldeer in a military type beret. I got a fetish for that for some reason.

But no, speaking as an entirely third party seeking to bump, what you're saying makes good sense. Cadia is a fortress world that has to withstand all sorts of fuckery from Chaos. Best not to stand out when hell can drop from the sky at any second. There might have to be some kind of quick way to display you're an officer for friendlies if you need to commandeer a unit or something, but it's not going to be something noticeable from any distance away.
>>
>>54928345
All good in theory and in general but in Taldeer's case she does stand out

>>54901090
Due to dressing like a cross between a farseer and a soldier.
>>
>>54919726
Here's my thoughts on the subject.

Eldar ears are covered in mechanoreceptors (mostly microscopic sensory hairs and pits) The pointed shape of the ears, their ability to move independently, and their position away from the body gives the eldar an amazing sense of balance and proprioception, which help contribute to the agility and grace the eldar are so well known for.

That said, the mechanoreceptors of the ear are calibrated for air currents and balance. Physically touching them is much more stimulus than they are supposed to recieve and gives a much potent sensation. Eldar being sapient they figured out how this natural adaptation could be abused early in their history, just like humans have with their areas of high neuronal density that aren't supposed to be used that way (e.g., lips).
>>
>>54924788
Seeing as Eldrad has done so among his own kind, probably not much. If you live for 4,500 years, and you are able to reproduce for 4470 of them, most of your opportunities to find a partner are going to be significantly older or younger than you by 21st century human standards. Might be additional constraints I can't think of right now (like the whole feedback loop).

>>54926924
If orks can figure out how to shoot the officers first, it makes sense to avoid being too obvious.

>>54930207
The Kronus Liberators would probably have some eldar auxillaries with them. But they'd all be Ulthwé Black Guardians, not farseers.

I imagine they look the other way about Taldeer being there because they know what Sreta is capable of and they want no part of Ulthran family politics. Though now they're more afraid of Taldeer than Sreta given Taldeer's Olivia Armstrong style of leadership.
>>
>>54931996
How big is Ulthwe?
>>
>>54932985
Population in the billions to tens of billions.

The craftworlds were small floating hive cities when they were started and most/all of them have only been growing since then. The growth is assisted by them never having gone to war with the Imperium, Isha and her disciples projecting a weak but passive and pervasive fertility field and the readily available nature of soul stones.

The craftworlds are a major reason for the elder being the 2nd most populous species in the Imperium.

>>54931996
>The Kronus Liberators would probably have some eldar auxiliaries with them
That's something I don't think we've discussed. Kronus may have an eldar enclave on it now. If the auxiliary forces are being sent to the long garrison with the rest of the Kronus 1st and the Leftover Remnants then they would have sent for their partners and children.

Kronus would now have established populations of humans, kroot and eldar. It is very quickly becoming a model of the Imperium in microcosm.

How many would there be per planet? One per world certainly and presumably populous or important worlds would get more than one but how many?

1 per hive? Per spire?

It could be that instead of the preciously mentioned using the Imperial Guard leftovers as the PDF and holding force until the real settlers turn up that they are going to use the planet as the pension scheme/settlement right/retirement scheme for all Imperial Soldiers in the area for some time.

There are no civilian settlers coming in after the soldiers, just more soldiers gradually trickling in Roman Legionaries style being given land to retire on.

Taldeer's Cadians, associated forces and surviving civilians being given first dibs by reason of being the liberating force and their planet in the first place respectively.

It's one of those things that looks really good on paper for the Administratum as the ultimate cost cutting measure combining the colony setting up and the pension in one move. In practice logic should have made way for common sense.
>>
>>54954595
I think that's actually canon in general. Imperium sends Guard regiments to settle on depopulated planets and/or mix with the population. For places like Cadia it's their best opportunity to escape from life on the hell that is Cadia.

In canon the famous Cadian eyes are a lot more common than you would expect for a trait known to originate on a single world.

Is it possible to build a rail system in the webway?
>>
>>54965813
It might be. Sources vary on what the webway is actually like; in some books it's basically a road system which can be traversed normally, in others its an otherworldly dimension that retains many of the properties of the warp proper. Here, I think we've decided that it's at least normal enough for conventional military units to fight in it, so a rail network might be possible.

>>54965857
>>54965813
There was talk in a previous thread about what the Emperor planned for the Imperium after the oncoming Day of Reckoning.

I think that the end result will be

Cthonian Ring used as an enormous bread basket

Lugganath moved into and dispersed around the webway fully to keep it strengthened and patrolled.

Railway laid down in the webway to bring food from the Cthonian Ring to the hives in an efficient manner to destroy famine.

In relative peace military funding can be scaled back and the freed up resources can be used to renovate the hives and bring them all up to the Earth Perty standard.

Imperium internally divided across cultural/historical/economic lines in a manner similar to the Survivor Civs but still being part of the Imperium.

Astronomican moved to somewhere near the galactic hub so that it can encompass a larger percentage of the galaxy efficiently.

Astronomican reduced in size and lesser ones set up like a spider web. Reduces strain on the people powering it to just have more but smaller.

(Assuming success of Titus and his Legio Primaris project) Every world that can do so has and maintains a chapter in preparation for the next disaster.

Eventually at lest some measure of longevity treatment for the masses.

The dream is that the Imperium will eventually be a lot better organized and full of highly educated and long lived happy citizens. Eventually they won't need an Emperor and he can fade away.
