Swords of Avalon #9

Well, I'm back everyone. The camping trip was a complete shitshow so we returned. I didn't want to post when I got back since it was so late and we were all tired.

New SoA thread! Come one, come all! Test ye mettle upon the fields of lore fluffing!

Unfortunately I can't add on the last two threads because they weren't archived :( but someone can possibly do that later.

Docs with the lore:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Cm16GUoQtg5IqTe0FM9dKD15TpJGpkOf0Zzi5TS3BGM/edit

Thread Question: What is your favorite faction from a fluff/lore standpoint alone? I have a love of the Alpha Franks. And not simply cause I love the Karlings, their society so far has been fairly interesting from what we've seen.

Thread Goal: This thread needs to achieve over 300 posts in less than 5 days and be archived.
>>
>>62262342
Last thread we made stuff about House relations, philosophy/religions, fluff on the Green Monks.

Someone started on the 2nd Battle of Luna but dropped off, I made a story of an infantryman killing a fairy beast with a knife that I couldn't really complete and a bunch of other stuff.

You know what SoA needs? Creatures and Flora! With cloning, Genetic Engineering and what not, there's likely all kind of crazy things out there.

'Vulture Drake'

An engineered creature crafted by PenDragon geneticists centuries ago in admiration/flattery of the Great Red Dragon, Y Ddraig Goch.

A thankfully far lesser creature compared to the great Red itself, the VD is nonetheless a formidable pest regardless of it's smaller size.

During an escape centuries ago they have infested the mountains, cliffs and badlands of the former PenDragon research world of Oswulf's Folly (Formerly Blackwell). Their natural ability to fly, glide, swim and climb well synergize very well. In addition their toxicity, scales, strength and aforementioned mobility have reduced it's natural predators to humans and larger Drakes. In its natural habitat, the Vulture is king.

The VD has been sighted on other worlds due to smuggling, stowaways and the like across human space.

Many creatures exist within human space from the Avalonian Core, to the presumed Far East. These range from the normal, such as birds, dogs, cats and other mundane creatures.

But most of these entries are about the more fantastic and abnormal. They come in a variety of colors, size, shapes and have abilities that are rarely found in such combinations or potency in more mundane animals and flora. Whether these creatures have come into existence through evolution on alien worlds nder rigors not found on ancient Avalon. Through the machinations of mad scientists for bored collectors based on ancient human legends. Or even simply changed through contact with Sidhe ruins. The reasons may never fully known for most of these beings.

Set, The Banished

Out of all the God Kings of Aegypt, Set has earned a special place in Aegyptian history for his infamy.

Most of what is known of Set is through old reports, centuries of dialect drift and obvious propaganda. But like most propaganda, there is a kernel of truth about the infamy of Set.

What is known of Set's pre-ascendence days is unknown other than he was a close friend or family member to Ra to acquire the cybernetics and power to rule over others. Even in those early days Set was not alright in the head. Tales abound of his cruelty, disorderliness and general chaos making. At first he was much like a trickster figure in Aegyptian stories, rousng the spirits of the Gods through making jests on the lower classes and the other Gods. Ra seemed to be quite caring and very much on Set's side during those days, given how many attempts on his life by the other Gods there have been.

Post transcendence is where the obvious downward spiral begins. While at first Set seemed fine, there may have been a problem in the uploading whether by chance or the machinations of another God for an earlier slight. It is unknown who it could have been and it is unlikely for it to come out in the future if it hasn't for several centuries.

It took some time for Set's mental faculties to truly become noticeably unhinged. Until then it appeared he was much the same, until he slaughtered a City for putting up the wrong flowers during a procession in his honor. This was such a shock that Ra had Set brought in for questioning of his reasoning.
>>
>>62263283
The questioning and investigation into Set's outburst took quite some time, but nonetheless he was released under Temple arrest and was to be given psychiatric help. This was even more a shock to the Gods and upper classes. For such a thing to happen to one of the Gods was unprecedented, it brought to question their divinity and power, even Ra. But Set took this turn of events even more seriously than the rest. This is likely the event which truly began his slide into madness.

For years Set was under arrest except for supervised appearances at celebrations, meetings with the Gods at Giza and other important events. And it seemed that Set was getting better and leaving behind his madness in return to his old ways. When Set began his pranks upon the Gods, many sighed in relief that things were getting back to normal after so long.

But later reports into Set's personal memoirs and data show that the opposite was true. The constant watch and supervision accelerated his degeneration. He began making plans thoroughout his arrest and began sowing the seeds to his vengeance. Towards the end and after his release to return to his station, Set began to look into Sidhe Ruins and covert arms buildup over Two centuries for the perfect moment to strike back.

The Lions of Yvain/Yvain Lions

A descendant of Lions from ancient Avalon. They have been bred, engineered and enhanced through the centuries since before Yvain Collected was even founded. As the name implies, they are the symbol of Yvain Collected. Why Yvain has the Lion as their symbol is a question that cannot be answered properly. There are a number of tales and legends pertaining to how the lions became YC's symbol.

The most common and oft told is the tale of their founder Sir Yvain finding and aiding a wounded white lion. When Sir Yvain was at his lowest point, the same white lion returned. It was then that Sir Yvain refueld with purpose to complete his mission. The lion would continue to travel alongside him for his quest and even lwould live with him as a comrade and pet. This tale is seen as the most true given that Lord Yvain's tomb has a separate sarcophagi beside it that contains the remains of a lion, specifically one that appears to be the sire of the Yvain Lions.

Compared to many other engineered beasts, the YLs are rather tame in capabilities. They are most certainly stronger, faster, tougher compared to other lions, greatly so in fact. But it is their intelligence that is the most apparent enhancement. Their IQs have been repeatedly tested to be over 100 and can perform abstract thought to better their use as aids and pets.

YLs come in a variety of shades and colors, but rarely outlandish unless the requester orders it. And such owners are looked down upon for such frivolous spending. More normal and grounded colors are common amongst their numbers. But it is rare to find white YLs outside the House of Yvain since they are the originators of the YLs.

Gennessy (Land of Giants)

A world that at first glance would be ripe for colonization. It is amongst the most earthlike worlds that would require minimal terraforming to make ready for human settlement. Oceans, streams, plains, forests and many other biomes cover the surface of Gennessy. One wonders why no major settlement has been founded and people aren't being shipped to make use of its resources. Its native inhabitants are likely the reason.

Called the Colossi, these immense creatures are aptly named. Seemingly made from living stone, they defy common sense and physics with their mere existence. And there are many of them.

Each Colossi appears to be unique, with few even near identical. Rarely are more than one Colossi in the same territory of another, but even then, the Colossi rarely fight preferring to simply wander around.

They do not appear to eat, and rarely ever stop to rest. The Colossi also are seemingly immortal, with attempts to rid of one merely have it coming back out of the earth same as before. Those that have been destroyed and reborn have developed a vindictive streak and thus have made all future settlement attempts failures.

Because of this, only small nomad groups and researchers live on Gennessey. When they are this small and weak, even the vindictive Colossi do not mind them thankfully.

It seems as if the land of Giants shall always be a mystery.

Notable Colossi:
-Razorback: "Smallest" of the Colossi, still bigger than a Dagger. Roams the ruins of some long dead city in the middle of a great forest. Resembles a mix of Boar and Gorilla with porcupine back.

-Roc: Fairly large Avian style Colossi. Prefers living in the steppes of largest continent. Gets into a lot of fights.

-Great Wyrm: Largest flyer Colossi. No real set territory, thugh it slumbers in a large desert every now and then.

-The Tower: Source for an eternal storm in a plains region. Over 50M tall, humanoid but no legs. Seemingly hovers and can blast lightning.

The MacGuaire Clan.

The MacGuaires are the oldest surviving family unit/clan on Gennessey. Regardless of their somewhat spotty records (they believe themselves to be at least from the days of RoME, though some believe them to be even older than that) the skill, knowledge and understanding of Gennessey they have is second to none. Most information regarding the Colossi come from them, theirs is also the most informative and detailed, including minor things about each Colossi. They are on very good terms with the Colossi with very few troubles. Many even ride and live on some Colossi.

They mostly subsist on a hunter gatherer existence, but they are remarkabley skilled and advanced. This has become even moreso in the modern age since they came into contact with the rest of human space and acquired sizable amounts of technology to improve their living conditions. They have even come to own a number of small Cavaliers, Cuirassiers, motor vehicles and the like to aid them in their endeavors in living on Gennessey.

Ever since reuniting with the rest of the human race, members of Clan MacGuaire rarely leave Gennessey, even centuries after contact. The ones that do leave more often than not return back home whether after a few years or even decades later. Most of the time this is simply to explore the galaxy and bring back tales, technology or curios.

It is a belief in the Clan that their souls are tied to Gennessey, and that dying off world means they cannot be united with the ancestors that came before or aid descendants later on.

Camo Crocodile/Alligator

Sometimes simplicity is best. A saying that the Camp Crocodile and Alligators exemplify best. There origin is unknown, but they have spread across the stars onto any planet with sufficient bodies of water to accommodate them.

As thir names imply, the C C/A use camouflage to conceal themselves far better than their mundane ancestors. Not simply changing color, the Camo reptiles can also change their texture, scent and thermal readings to better ambush or runaway from quarries. These abilities make them near apex predators combined with their enhanced physical capabilities. The jaw strength has been increased enough to rip through light Cuirassier plate. And their hide is enough to repel many common projectile weapons and blades.

Last thread I put up the idea of a Mordred Empire based on the Black Numeoreans. Where should they be? They'd likely still be building up their infrastructure so they are mostly biding their time till they are ready.

And they'd be made up of Mordred loyalists and the peoples they took captive subjugated along the way, kind of like the Spartans and the Helots.

We never really went over what the Codes of Chivalry in setting really are. We've written about them through characters and groups, but never the real Codes themselves. Here are a couple CoC (Heh).

The Code of Chivalry described in the Song of Roland and an excellent representation of the Knights Codes of Chivalry are as follows:
◾To fear God and maintain His Church
◾To serve the liege lord in valour and faith
◾To protect the weak and defenceless
◾To give succour to widows and orphans
◾To refrain from the wanton giving of offence
◾To live by honour and for glory
◾To despise pecuniary reward
◾To fight for the welfare of all
◾To obey those placed in authority
◾To guard the honour of fellow knights
◾To eschew unfairness, meanness and deceit
◾To keep faith
◾At all times to speak the truth
◾To persevere to the end in any enterprise begun
◾To respect the honour of women
◾Never to refuse a challenge from an equal
◾Never to turn the back upon a foe

Of the seventeen entries in the Code of Chivalry described in the Song of Roland, at least twelve of the codes relate to acts of chivalry as opposed to acts of combat.

The chivalric virtues of the Code of Chivalry were also described in the 14th Century by the Duke of Burgundy. The words he chose to use to describe the virtues that should be exhibited in the Knights Code of Chivalry were as follows:
◾Faith
◾Charity
◾Justice
◾Sagacity
◾Prudence
◾Temperance
◾Resolution
◾Truth
◾Liberality
◾Diligence
◾Hope
◾Valour

How can we modify these to fit SoA?
>>
>>62267001

I imagine RoME built and made a lot of really fucked up things just because thry could. Whole planets where a single species of bird sings one note per bird so that obly with careful instrumentation can you hear a grand sonata. All while a master patrician plays them like keys on a piano.
>>
>>62267041
Planets such as that are likely lifeless without the proper upkeep. Just another in a long line of reasons why RoME needed to die.
>>
>>62267090
Good point but still something to remember. RoME was hella debauched by its end and examples of things like that might still exist. I wouldn't put it past them to have whole planets where everything secretes LSD or something just cause.

Probably the frontier/hinterlands OR the hidden worlds who are not on any maps of Merlin but could be literally anywhere.

Yet... A direct Mordredian realm seems a bit far fetched. It would be too perfect candidate for some righteous smiting. Takes away from the more grey tone our setting has since the more clearly black/white Dragon Conflict.
Probably some Knights are plaguing the hinterlands yet they should not be that much organised - but in return can be more varied and fun opponens for PCs. Like the cursed Lord Thomas himself.
The Roud Table probably FEARS that they might unite but realistically it is rather unlikely.

And of course we have the cybercults and dark infiltrators, whatever their grim purposes are...

>>62267014
There was something about the Code in one of the earliest threads. Interesting still
>>
>>62267014
The way I read them, the Codes of Chivalry would be focused much more heavily around the corporate nature of the Knight's service, as well as the much more universal situation of humanity. I'm thinking the first couple of Codes, if this setting had an equivalent to those laid out in Roland, would be something along the lines of:
>To defend Mankind and maintain His Purity
>To serve thy employer with valor and devotion

I always thought the Knight of Gold would have the typical aesthetic of ByZant Cavalier, personally. A knight of gold for a city/planet of gold.

>>62266723
Why don't we try for less Mordor and more along the lines of Mass Effect's Cerberus. Have the Mordred Empire consist more of a collection of bases hidden on various worlds from which they can assault the various corps through sabotage and terrorism to weaken them. Mordred-controlled planets would be hidden by black technoscorcery, and would be the worst combination of a 40k Forge World and a planet-sized fortress. The game could steadily build up by attacking these hidden facilities until the final fight takes place on a Mordred Hellworld the party fought hard to discover the location of.
>>

The historical Byzantines didn't use the Praetorian Guard. Rather, they recruited Norsemen, Englishmen, and Slavs to be their so-called Varangian Guard. They are famous in the modern day for sometimes wielding two-handed axes.
>>
>>62267479
The black worlds of Mordred:

Though many fortress planets were destroyed in the Dragons War it is known or perhaps presumed not all were scoured of life. Indeed, though infrequent, black knights of the fallen house appear from the void to raid often aiming for Dulac or pendragon holdings. Perhaps more fearful is that these worlds often hold lairships of Dragons and manufactories in which genetically enslaved workers toil. It is said that even shards of the Ghost Queen herself reside upon such places.

Those stolen in raids never return. Save the knights snd their Cavaliers captured, twisted into little more thsn maddened, beasts they fight with a ferocity that belies their once noble standing.
>>
>>62267732
Praetorians:
Though exceedingly rare patricians do take to the field periodically during war. Often in pairs these warriors use specially designed Axe class Cavaliers that operate as a duo. So precise is their calibrations it is said that such machines are like mirror images. Meant to only fight with its sibling. All such praetorians sport a colored emblem upon their right or left shoulder. One shall always be Purple, the other Gold.

Good point. So Varangian mercs who guard the Emperor? They come from across human space and make up the Emperor's personal Legion. Because they are not native to ByZant, they are *somewhat* detached from the politics of the land. They are gifted the best Cavaliers ByZant can spare.

Though meant to protect the Emperor, they sre still sent out to support the frontier forces of ByZant, acting as concentrations of power and morale for troops to rally alongside. They pilot a variety of Cavs from Swords to Axes to Spears. All orderly and in tip top shape.

I'll make a character when I get back from my walk.

>Haven't thought about ByZant Cavs. I like the idea of them being gold. I'm guessing the Preatorians would be purple and gold?
It seems like purple, black, and gold would be the big coloration used for ByZant Cataphracts (or should we just stick with Cavaliers?). They should be much more ostentatious than their Western counterparts to display the wealthiness of their corporations to their barbaric counterparts. That's how I see them, anyway.

>>62267732
>>62267867
Let's expand on that a little bit. Why not have it a fairly common occurence for ByZant corporations to hire Alpha Frank or Saxon mercenaries. Not solely as mercenaries, however, but also as guards stationed at their headquarters on Zant itself, because as foreigners they aren't inherently tied to the constant and vicious power struggles of the Zantine corporations.

Eadmod Godalbertus, 66

Master of the Varangian Guard/Emperor's Own/1st Mercenary Legion

Bastard from the one knight stand of an Alpha Frank and Saxon Knight pair, fighting was already in Eadmod's blood. From as soon as he could walk he was getting into scraps with the other boys in the orphanage and spent almost as much time in the headmaster's office as outside. Always a problem child, when he came of age after being paased over nad sent back from numerous foster homes, he was kicked out onto the streets with little to his name. He continued fighting in the streets unti lhe came upon a recruitment poster for a mercenary unit. He jumped at the chance as a basic infantryman and hit the ground running. He had joined a less reputable group whose name is lost to time.

Eadmod quickly made a name for him self for his effectiveness and brutality. He soon was rising up the ranks from Cuirassier to Dagger all the way to his Sellsword Cavalier. After some time, he and his group were given a job to perform incursions into ByZant territory by undisclosed groups, but Eadmod cared little for such things. He and his personal group he was in command of were more interested in booty and a good scrap.

After repeated attacks o ByZant forces, caravans and frontier worlds with resounding success was when the hunters became the hunted. They were soon up against the Varangian Guard who were passing by and heard reports of mercenaries raiding the areas. The fighting took 3 months to complete for the VG to wipe out Eadmod's group until only a small cadre of Cavs and their cohorts and ships were left. They were prepared to either run or make a last stand. Eadmod would fight the mby his self if need be, he cared little for living and wished to go down swinging. Many of his men and women joined him and bid their comrades adieu.

Once they set up their last stand, the VG opened comms ordering their surrender. Eadmod refused and the battle was met. Cont.

So Zantian military consists of

Legions of Cataphrancts (who use mostly the local cheapish upgraded Gladius) supported by Cuirassiers and Tanks. RoME era tactics but good gear. In decline.

In addition they have the Praetorians >>62267893 who are a separate class of Knights who use the best Cavaliers Zanthian Emperor can buy. And that usually is fucking impressive stuff. They answer only to the Emperor

Other Patricians have to use just mercenary forces.

Coool.

Given that the term Cavalier predates Zant it would seem most likely that the naming difference is just a translation issue like greek/latin divide. Compared to Aegyptian Charioteers there does not to be that much of a difference between Zant and Avalonian cavs.

It only took an hour for the VG to reduce Eadmod's group to solely himself. It was then that Eadmod found himself locking blades with the Master of the VG. The battle took two more hours with Eadmod only losing ground. His Sellsword was top of the line, but it was not meant for such fighting, the months of running, reduced maintenance and now this final battle were taking their toll upon the Sellsword. Right as he managed to perform a feint to impale his opponent's cockpit did the right arm and leg fail, their pumps and muscles bursting rending the endoskeleton and throwing his aim off. The Master took advantage and made a final attack dismembering the left libs with one swing.

The battle was over, and Eadmod was to go down swinging.

After the cockpit was pried open and Eadmod dragged out, he was brought before the Master of the VG, Siclandus Aldhelm. To say Siclandus was impressed by Eadmod would be an understement, he did not wish to kill him off. In fact, he wished to take him into the VG under his wing. He simply did not want such talents to go to waste.

Likewise, to say Eadmod was confused would be an understatement. As far as he was concerned, whenever a mercenary was captured was their death sentence. It was better to kill them than deal with the bull of taking care of them this far out. And he himself was dangerous to others, his psychiatrist at the orphanage said so. But taking him under his wing? He'd take the offer up, he wanted to see for himself if the VG were all they were cracked up to be.

And so began Eadmod's new life in the VG under Siclandus. He would partake in many battles of the years as well as tutoring under the old Master. He was more than able to kill said Siclandus now he needed to lead. At first Eadmod scoffed at such sayings. He knew his place was on the battlefield, not behind a desk like some bean counter. But learn he did whether b lecture or fire, Eadmod was given command over numerous greenhorns and ordered to have as few of them killed while commanding them during battles. The more killed, the harsher the punishment. Eadmod quickly leanred to not fail.

And so that was how Eadmod lived, not only fighting but learning to better himself. All this changed until Siclandus died during a battle from his cocpit exploding. Many in the VG said it was sabotage by a noble, but there was no proof. When it came time to pick a new Master, many looked to Eadmod to take the mantle but just as many decried such favoritism and called for a tourney to settle the matter once and for all. The Emperor agreed and decided to host a festival to celebrate the future Master.

Eadmod became acutely aware of how sweaty his palms were getting. He knew every lesson was going to come back and haunt him for the upcoming competition. He needed to prepare his "Troops".

Olympia Beta, 24 years old

Clone of a famed courtesan and lover to Eadmon Godalbetus. Gifted to him after "Giving me the best ride of my life" said Olympia Oorypha. OB was crafted by a premier Genesmith that Olympia had contact with and put in a good word about a new project. Eadmod was shocked and perplexed by the "Gift" but knew not to reject as such a thing would lead to a bad mark on his image in the eyes of the ByZant elite.

OB has proven an able lover and even greater aide de camp for Godalbertus over the years since she was gifted to him. Though the beginning of their relationship was awkward on Eadmod's part, they have since grown closer and more comfortable towards one another.

After months of training did the competition begin. Held on Zant itself, the beating heart and soul of the Empire.

It would be Eadmod and his men vs Morthwyl Penrose, Helinand Osment, Odoacer Aluuard and their men. The sands of the colleseum would be red with blood. There could only be one Master. With a grand speech by the Emperor the fight began.

The other three not only needed to kill him but the others which gave him some breathing room to hatch a plan. He needed to pit the others against each other if he wanted to win. After all, the goal wasn't to win in war by killing as many of the enemy. But it was reducing your casualties while maximizing theirs.

I'm going to complete this later tomorrow or something, so I'll put the end bit.

As Eadmod witnessed Young Constantus walk up to the throne to be crowned Emperor of ByZant he came to a realization. He wondered how he never realized it sooner before. Before joining the VG, he had been little more than a bloodthirsty animal in human skin. Not caring at all for the next day unless he had something to fight and kill. He had no need or want for companionship beyond a body to sate his desires and warm his bed. But now?

Eadmod realized that he could not leave his young Emperor. Not simply because of duty, honor, money or even fear of execution. He did not wish to leave his young charge because he had grown to care for him after practically fostering him for so many years. He dimly wondered if this is what a father would feel about their child,

One such world has been discovered only adding fuel to rhe fires of fear. A barren planetoid drifting in interstellar space. It's surface a blasted glassy maze of crags and ice. Beneath the surface in teeming millions the enslaved toilet. Their bodies fitted manacle class Cuirass and their minds diminished to little more than puppets for the knights who, enhanced by dark cybernetics oversaw the operations therein. It's tunnels and caverns were filled with dark automata and, buried deep inside the slumbering True Dragon Gyvurik, slayer of Glastonbury and Eater of Samarcices its massive form injured and slowly being nursed back to operational capacity...

Manacle class Cuirass:

The manacle is a sinister thing. Outwardly it looks little different than a bare set of actuators and a power supply however, the reality is far more gruesome. Once donned the device cannot be removed without extensive surgery for the Manacle binds itself to the user. Covering the torso snd limbs the device drills into the wearer's flesh and bone. Injecting filamentous metal that binds into the nervous system. The Manacle allows an outside source to not only manipulate the body of the wearer but to inflict immense wracking pain. Mordred was infamous for an all but mandatory use of the device. Agravayne too uses the Cuirass but, only for those in punishment details or immense debts.
>>
Executioners hood:

Less a whole new model of Cuirass than a modification. Often simply called the Hood. This machine is forbidden in Round table space. It takes the Manacle and, extends the armor to include a face covering skull cap. This cap is a bulky machine that, once in place sends a dozen or so probes into the brain of the wearer. These probes likewise use the same basic technology as the Manacle. However, the Hood allows for total control of the person's body. Rendering them little more than a drooling idiot.

Themata

The Themes of ByZant are military districts covering swathes of star systems. Each is fairly self sufficient and each has its own command structure and armies/legions of soldeiers/Cataphracts to call upon.

Their are currently four major/prestigious Themes with others currently developing as they are settled and add their resources to the empire:
-Armeniac
-Thracian
-Anatolic
-Opsician

Each Theme is made up of and in succession:
-40 Touma
-60 Drongous
-20 Bandon
-20 Kentarchia
-150 Kontoubernion
There are also "Vanguard and Rear Guard" formations, mostly attached to the Strategos as 'protection' detail

>>
Ladder Cuirassier:

Similar to the Executioner Hood, less a Cuirassier but a modification to existing ones. Originally derived for vertical enviroments, thus it includes wire grapplers, hook claws, electromagnet 'sticky fingers' and other such tools to allow easier scaling of surfaces. The grapplers have also been finding use in zero-g enviroments to facilitate better movement through the grapplers latching/piercing a studry object and reeling the EVA personnel to move without using fuel for thrusters.

The grapplers, claws and 'sticky fingers' have also found life in melee combat. Whether to improve footing, ripping or even as ranged options.
>>
>>62272174
I wonder if thats something you can mod into Cuirass?

Pretty much what I wrote. A lot of its elements are being retrofitted to other Cuirassiers. The grapplers especially are a genius idea for how damn simple they are for how effective.

Bac from the shower. Basic run down of Aegypt Civil War
-Set continues sneaking around the other Gods while masquerading around as being 'healed'
-Osiris possibly finds out what Set is doing somehow, causes Set to accelerate his timetable
-Captures Osiris and hacks into him, proceeds to take him apart and use said pieces as memory cores/USBs for his war effort
-Isis is the first to notice her husbands disappearance and soon the rest of the Pantheon do as well
-Manhunt begins but no one can find Osiris, even Ra is getting worried
-Set plays along, doctors evidence/an alibi to make it seem he's innocent of anything
-Isis does not trust him at all
-After a few years all of Aegypt is searching for Osiris to no avail, many people from the Dregs to the Gods think he has gone AWOL for some reason
-Possibly he ran away to those RoME/Avalon guys? (Not sure wich to do, I'll do the Eadmod story first)
-Something happens and Isis shows up to Set's Temple to confront him, she has a gut feeling and is a little crazy from worry over her husband's disappearance
-Set says a thing and Isis latches onto it, attacks him causing immense damage
-This actually uncovers Osiris' remains and Set is now in panic mode

Anything else you guys can think of? I don't want to ape the original story completely.

How does this sound gor a Komenios Reformation ByZant Cataphract line?

Cataphract: ByZany term for Cavalier

ByZant Cavaliers (Cataphracts are based on the Gladius Spatha designs, but in the last two centuries have started copying/designing their own native versions of the Sword types to contend with the modern battlefield. The Dragon Conflict and the post DC roaming Dragons proved that updated Gladii/Spathas were not cutting it anymore.

Spathí: Sword (Arming equivalent)
Megálo spathí: Great Sword
Kontó Spathí: Short Sword
Nóthos Spathi: Bastard Sord

Dory: Spear
Tsekoúri: Axe
>>
>>62274506
Komenos is too late for the setting, charlemagne is not even emperor and the viking invasions are yet to happen.
Also bastard sword is a frankish unique cavalier and does not need a equivalent in other factions.
>>
>>62273684
>>62273671
Vague is good, tgis is awesomely good plot hook for many kinds of possibilities.
Loving this "one part-person fled Aegypt". Remembering that there was some rumours that Saracens were actually led by a exiled Aegyptian Charioteer.. Both Osiris or Set could fill that part.

Welll of course the Zants did not steal an Alpha-Frankish bastard sword oh no that would be horrible. A branch of IP trademarks oh noes what assholes they would have been to do such insane stunts. Ho ho hoo

Others are fine but Greatswords do belong to the future as the final swords-class.
This kind of copying shows the crappy state of ByZant - no imagination of their own, just echoes of glorious past.

The Byzantines sometimes wielded a sword known as a paramerion. It was like a medieval arming sword, but curved and with the point offset for increased cutting power. It wasn't as curved as the stereotypical scimitar or shamshir, though.

Paramerion

A modern ByZant Cataphracr (Cavalier) built using stlen and copied Avalonian scematics. Regarded by many irst hand accounts as being some what similar in appearance to a combination of Arming Sword and Scimitar Classes. It seems to be more akin to the AS than the Scimitar, but it has more speed than the AS.

It is unknown what future this new Cataphract will have. Or what influence it will have on the ByZant military. Is used as part of ByZant flanking and pursuit groups acting as 'muscle' for such lightly armed groups.
>>62277286
Would make sense given how authoritarian ByZant is. The more modern Gladius and such they use are more powerful compared to Avaloanin equivalents, but they pay in endurance and maintenance.
>>
>>62277286
Probsbly if they have are basically just gunpods with minor boosters or even aome decent shielding on them so they're abpe to take a few hits.

Alysidōton (Maille)
Basic Cuirassier armor of ByZant. A 'Light' armore for basic troops. Nonetheless an effective piece comparable to Avalonian designs.

Folidōton (Scale)
More expensive and better Cuirassier plate. Found on more experienced troops and even on Cataphract Pilots, notably Spatha types.

Klivanion (Lamellar)
Heaviest Cuirassier plate deployed by ByZant. Regarded as uncomfortable by many who use it. But the protection and power it provides alleviates this somewhat.

Master of the Varangian Guard

The rank given to the nominal leader of the VG used by the troops stationed in it. However, the rank used outside of the VG was Acolyte refferng to the leader of the VG being a close confidant and aide de camp to the Emperor of ByZant when needed.

As the ByZant Empire became more aristocratic and burecratic, the Emperor came to rely on the VG more and more from body guards on and off the battlefield and as diplomats to Avalonian space. In many ways, the VG are responsible for the good relations (relatively speaking) between the West and East.

The Master/Acolyte of the VG is always in the presence of the Emperor and is responsible for their well bing. While this has led to conflict at times with the Praetorian Guard, the Emperors have managed to keep it civil often enough, though duels are still frequent.

The VG due to their position as bodyguards of the Emperor and by extension the Imperial family, are given some leeway within reason to how they act and are equipped. While originally the VG were equipped with Gladius and Spatha, the Knights/Mercenaries found them wanting and that their skills were going to waste. This led to some reforms allowing the VG to bring their own Cavaliers along with them to be upgraded with ByZantine technology.

As such, the VG are equipped with all manner of Cavaliers; from Swords to Spears of all kinds and are organized more like the Avalonian as opposed to ByZantine. This has allowed them far better performance and flexibility when compared to the Legions of ByZant

Continuing the middle part. Also I'm going to reduce their numbers to just the Contestants if that's okay with everyone? It'll shorten the story some.

At first there was no movement. Each of them waiting for the others to move. Eadmod knew he had no allies in this fight, only three enemies. And so did the three in front of him. But he had an advantage the others didn't: He had no bad blood with any of them, but they did. Their animosity and rivalries the Trio had cultivated before Eadmod had even joined were well known. And they each coveted the position of Master/Acolyte. He'd even say one of them killed Siclandus leading to this moment. Which made this all the easier, he just needed to strike first. His time on the streets taught him enough on how to break alliances, you just needed to rid the strongest and the chain breaks.

So he attacked Oodacer first after what seemed an eternity. His railgun slug struck true and deflected right into the neck of Oodacer's Bastard Sword. The HEIAP core went of severing it entirely. While the head sialed through the air, all four struck at eachother. Before the head even landed Oodacer had fallen prey to the rest, his BS riddled with holes and blackened from carbon scoring.
>>
>>62280201
I really need to write more concide stories and character blurbs. My Edmund and Robert stuff was fairly short and informative. Eadmod is a damned novella.

When Oodacer fell, the crowds went wild from the bloodshed. They were already getting antsy from the lack of action and fighting had already begun. Now the blood starved masses had their entertainment and were calming down to properly cheer and bet.

Now that the battle was met, the fighters became more relaxed. They were in their element in the whirlwind of battle. They decided to close in with convergent thought for a three-way duel, lasers, slugs and missiles filling the Triangle. They each knew that this battle would be decided in melee, a ranged duel between the three would lead to two ganging up on one to finish it between the remainders. A melee duel was both more and less dangerous to them. It rendered most ranged options ineffective from backlash, or improper tracking. But the QCBs and MDWs hey were armed with were just as deadly and made even grazes near fatal.

As his screens filled with the incoming shapes of the Cavaliers, Eadmod felt at piece. Now he could truly let loose on them. After forever in a moment, they clashed their blades at once, the edges and power fields crafting a veritable storm of colors and lightning. Some such bolts flew off into the stands and crashing against the protective screens creating an aurora of light. The screens worked to reduce the glare that could blind or kill the onlookers.

After the shock, the crowds went wild. The threat and danger of being killed causing the cheers to rise to deafening levels, to the point Eadmod swore he could feel them

Kleisourarches

A military rank in the ByZant military regarding an officer that commands a Kleisoura , or an important Starway path used for military and civil transportation. They are a part of the Theme system and hold considerable sway and rank despite the small territories they command. It is known that many kleisouraches use their positions to launder money and run black markets in their territories.

They are also amongst ByZant's most fortified areas due to being natural chokepoints and enabling travel between isolated clusters.

How are you guys liking the story? Is it too long? How does the Journey of Eadmod sound?

Minutes passed as none of the three could gain an upper-hand. They were quite evenly matched, Eadmod had to give them that. Morthwyl in his Long Sword has excellent balance between his strengths, but he was too cautious and had proven himself no as capable of pushing the attack. Heliand's Great Axe was an absolute monster, no doubt about it. He couldn't push the attack as he'd like as the Great Axe was somewhat fragile in comparison.
Eadmod's simple Arming Sword however was tiny in comparison to the two and didn't have the power to compete. But he had more endurance than either and it was more durable than people would think. The reduced size also made him harder to hit in the melee while such stature was a disadvantage since his reach was weakened.

And so the duel continued for several more minutes with no discernible winner in sight. It could go either way. At least until the Emperor got bored and threw a curve ball int othe court. Eadmod's sensors picked up the raising of several trap doors and... Monsters pouring out. He was sure the other two had caught on as well, but none of them was willing to break off and deal with the creatures converging upon them. The threat of a backstabbing was to high.

As the monsters closed in, it was Morthwyl who broke first to deal with a serpentine creature, he had the smarts to send out some S-Mines to cover his back pedaling to deal with the assailant. His exit left Eadmod and Heliand
to duel, while going up against Heliand's Great Axe alone would normally be worrisome for Eadmod, and Heliand's increased fervor to end it was troubling, the appearance of a Manticore like monster pouncing upon Heliand changed that. He must have been to focused and ignored the warnings by the Great Axe. And now he payed the price. Eadmod was freed to deal with a Hydra like abomination, each head topped by a grotesque caricature of a humans head
>>
>>62282116
Fucking kids I swear.

bump
>>
>>62282866
That didn't take long

The battles against the Hydra was fierce as the beast itself. Each head had different abilities and could regenerate quickly. And Eadmod's AS did not have the firepower or sheer strength to over come such defenses. He knew the other two would have an easier time with their opponents and would gang up on him. So he began a retreat towards Morthwyl to use his LS's lack of focus against him. The Hydra began to follow like the beast it was, only concerned with killing and eating the succulent inside of the Cataphract. It took little time for Eadmods to reach Morthwyl, the AS was notably faster than the shambling Hydra, but it still managed to catch up. At tha, Eadmod simply kept running towards Heliand and the Manticore. His sensors indicated that Morthwyl was beset by the Hydra and was swiftly torn apart by both monsters, which soon began fighting each other. Thanking his luck and choices, Eadmod continued towards Heliand.

However, just as Eadmod was coming up to Heliand had he finished the Manticore and turned towards him. Eadmod knew this would be the battle that finished it, the remaining beasts were of no import and the guards would kill them after the battle was done. He had no hard feelings for Heliand and likely Heliand felt the same. They had even worked together a number of times. Heleiand simply believed himself the better choice to administer the VG than Eadmod. Such favoritism that Siclandus showed to Eadmod was unacceptable in his eyes. Only the best should be allowed. Eadmod himself agreed with such sentiments, but he knew there was no turning back now. There would be only one survivor on the field this day as was tradition.

Eadmod's AS definitely was at a disadvantage in this fight as said before. Height, power, firepower everything was lesser compared to the Great Axe by a significant margin. Eadmod needed to be crafty and use the greater acceleration and reduced size to hit the GA's weak-points.
>>
>>62283231
The crowd payed no attention to the squabbling monsters tearing eachother apart. Not when the real show was entering it's final scene. Eadmod and Heliand were finally going at it with all they had. Despite the gulf of differences between the to Cataphracts, both were evenly matched. Eadmod was using every trick of the trade to get in close to strike at Heliand's weak points, but the Great Axe gave Heliand the advantages to minimize such contact. It's MDW Halberd giving it so much reach to hold Eadmod at bay , So Eadmod began to try and hack the head off the shaft. If that was done Heliand would be left with only integral and back up weapons while Eadmod still had a spare.

It came to Eadmod that he was making no progress like this. And if nothing was done the Emperor would certainly throw another 'surprise' into the ring to spice it up. He needed to speed things up and finish it quickly, but his options were limited. Diverting more power could work, but it'd reduce his operation time. Knowing this Eadmod made the decision to purge armor, he was likely to die from a swing of the halberd regardless so the reduced mass would make him faster and harder to hit. Right after a near strike, Eadmod purged his armor and increased power generation for one final all or nothing strike to end the battle. With less mass to work against, the increased engine power came into play propelling the AS faster than it's creators would ever think possible. Eadmod, rather than the typical flan, went all in frontal moving quickly past the halberd into Heliand's inner circle. With the AS at it's breaking point, he made one strike with his blade up into the gap protecting the cockpit. The blade went clean through, skewering Heliands totally.
>>
>>62283724
With that final strike, the crowd first went silent, and then exploded with cheer. Four had entered, one had left.

Eadmod's AS had been left virtually inoperable from pushing it too far, the Cavalier which had seen him through so much was simply done for. He knew he ould be granted a new one, likely a Longsword or some-such crafted with the best ByZant had to offer, but it did little to dampen the feelings he felt. This AS had been gifted to him by Siclandus himself. It had history in the VG, for it was given to the aide and student of each Acolyte since their founding.

It was then that Eadmod exited hs cockpit to step out to the fresh air and roaring crowds. They were all around as far as he could see, but he cared not for them. He stared directly to his Lord and Master, the Emperor. A grav skiff came to him to transport to the Imperial Familiy's VIP Lounge.

If he was a lesser man, he'd likely marvel at the splendor and opulence that made up the lounge. But he did not, he had only one thing on his mind: to be bequeathed his new station as Acolyte of the VG
>>
I'm not going to continue Eadmod's story. If anyone else would like to, go ahead.

The Imperial Tagmata

The elite military units stationed within and around the Imperial Throne Zant System. Originallt raised as part of quelling a series of rebellions a century after the Empire's founding and answer directly to the reigning Emperor. Though in recent years the quality nad loyalty has much to left desired. A number of units from the Tagmata took part in the brief and bloody civil war following C.XXVII's untimely death on the field of battle.

Made up of Four(?) main Tagma:
-The Scholai whom were the most senior group. A majoriy (80+%) joined the rebellious Royal Family members in the civil war.

- Hikanatoi

-The Exkoubitoi

-The Arithmos/Vigila whom were often given special assignments such as guarding the Imperial Fleet HQ alongside the VG, relaying the Emperor's orders personally in opposition to hacking/spying, and guarding POWs

Athens System

Said by many to be the ByZant equivalent to Marseilles, Athens is one of the Empire's premier port systems with a significant portion of trade in the Aegean Nebula goes through each day.

Once the capital to an older civilization conquered by RoME, Athens was re-purposed to become a major port system following their conquest of the surroundings.

The native Athenians have since developed a rather mercantile view of life and are renowned sailors, whether on the waves or the void.

Athens in fact once held the Imperial Court of ByZant when a particularly fierce Civil War raged and ByZant was shortly taken over by rebellious nobles.

Sparta System

Home to ByZant's Cuirassier and Cataphract academies, few know bloodshed than the Spartans.

Situated in the Peloponneseian Cluster, the Spartan System was like Athens, home to a small but strong civilization that spanned the cluster. When RoME conquered them, they instead turned the Spartans to producing soldiers of all kinds to fuel their conquests. The Spartans minded very little, as warfare was already a way of life for them. They simply began to train others in their ways.

With the fall of RoME, the Spartans simply joined the burgeoning ByZant Empre to continue their service and export their violence.

With the Spartans, i was going for a Cadia feel for them. Compared to most of ByZant's forces, the Spartans and many who train under them are bloodthirsty and fierce. While ByZant tried to replicate such training elsewhere, it never stuck and such places degenerated into madmen. The Spartans due to culture and whatnot can maintain themselves and not degenerate.
>>
>>62284909
I wobder if they're not the ByZant answer to Saxons.
>>
>>62285098
They existed well before the Saxons came into being. If anything, people in the know consider the Saxons Spartan knockoffs.
>>
>>62284909
>>62285098
Hmmmm rather classical... Suggestion: perhaps SparTans are heavily gene-modified by the RoME/ Zants to be extremely effective warriors but nowdays are full of genetic problems and defects, meaning that they are being more and more sidelined.
>>
>>62285546
I could see it. They were better under RoME, but the whole ByZant degeneracy and excess has stripped the of their greatness. They're pretty much turning into the Grineer.
>>
What other groups/characters can we add to ByZant? I'm actually enjoying them right now. I'd love to play an army of them
>>
>>62285593
While RoME did augment then further, SparTans existed before RoME.
They were pre-RoME augmented soldiers from DORIAN (Not sure what should be the full name ? DORIAN security ? DORIAN enteprises ?) a PMC who conquered the spartan system keepíng baseline humans as "helots"; they were the leaders of a league involving other colonies in the Peloponneseian Cluster before RoME conquered them
>>
>>62286216
Pretty much what I had in mind
>>
The SparTans would be instrumental in RoME's conquests. They would be the tip of the spear in their early Cuirassier plate. Infantry and riflemen first and foremost, they were always ready to be part of a forlorn hope into enemy territory. These conquests earned the SparTans immense glory and honor for their people.

SparTans armor in fact helped revolutionize Cuirassiers to what they are known today.
>>
>>62285546
Once, the Spartan legions were feared. A breed of man built for war. Even before RoME modified their blood they had known confkict upon the blasted world of their birth. However, once joined to the empire their ascent truly began. Each warrior was carefully modified, cybernetics and gene tampering leaving them scarcely human. At the height of the Empire they were said to be high unstoppable. However, as the Empire fell so to did the Spartans. Unable to get a hold of the combat drugs and modifications that fueled their war efforts they faltered and begsn to improvise poor facsimiles of their former selves. ByZant would rekindle the warrior race but even now, these savage warriors are lacking. Often dimly aware of their nature and misshapen the Spartans have become dependant upon their masters and unaltered Slaves the Helots.

Indeed, imagine playing ByZant with a legion f Gold Cataphracts and multi hued Varangians.

Armenia

ByZant's eastern most territory, Armenia is a land and people divided. Once a part of ByZant wholly, Armenia was divided by the Saracens during their conquests into ByZant lands. This has left a scar upon the Armenians that will not heal.

The Armenians have played important roles in ByZant's military since it's inception and even before during RoME. From lowly infantry to Starship Captains, few can deny their contributions.

I wonder how their religion should be (Armenia had it's own brand of christianity) ?
>>
>>62286885
Outside Aegypt Religion doesn't play much a role in SoA. Philosophies rule the day and age.

Probably based on the Infinity Symbol above. They believe all things are connected and are from the same source and thus they believe in a great force throughout the universe. They really want to know more about Spellsongs and their effects on reality.

Michael the Armenac, Patrician-Soldier and CEO-Strategos of the Armenian Theme. The First Patrician.

Despite his nomenclature, the Armenac is not a native of the Armenian Cluster. Rather, the aged soldier was one of the few Zantine children born during the collapse of RoME. As was his right as a child of two Manager-Officers of the Sixth Mercenary Legion and fellow patricians, he received the numerous gene therapy treatments that would mark one as a Gilded Man. His childhood was one of exacting training, as was expected of patricians - financing, politcking, and, unique to those patricians of Legion heritage, the arts the of war. His parents despaired as the hotheaded and blunt young man despised the cutthroat intricacies of Zant politics, and instead sought combat with a zeal that some would describe as religious. What he lacked in subtlety and tact, Michael vastly overcompensated with a relentless bloodlust, a fiery temperament, and determination to overcome all threats to his person by beating them senseless. Still, he was not entirely hopeless as his parents feared - a natural instinct for risks served him just as well in garnering investments from the Financial Forums as it did bashing his classmates' heads in during mock battles. Upon graduation, he was awarded a position in the lowest rung of the twenty tiers for Manager-Officer positions in the Sixth. Just barely, however. The Armenac had gained the ire of many other patrician dynasties for disdain for politics as well as his insatiable hunger for conflict. It was telling, then, that when the CEO-Legate called for a police action to reestablish RoMEan control over the Armenian Cluster, the hotheaded combatant was the first sent. When given what would be the template the of Axe-class Cataphracts used by patricians nowadays, Michael chose to paint his with a single crimson hue rather than the black, gold, or purple conventionally used by Manager-Officers.
>>
>>62290098
Nice job anon.
>>
>>62290098
While officially termed a mere Quieting (a RoMEan practice involving the annihilation of a region's civilian inhabitants to make way for new development) the resettlement of the Cluster was anything but a mere culling. The Armenian systems had been a favorite for patricians who sought peace and isolation, in which they could enact their mad plans to their hearts content. That the Quieting alone had been called upon patricians was a frightful prospect, but forcing soldiers to invade and scour places as twisted as the Patricians' Garden (as the inhabitants of Zant were wont to call the more fertile region of the Armenian Cluster) was unthinkable. At least, it would be for most patricians. While it would be otherwise acceptable for a man of such responsibility as the CEO-Legate to be unaware of every single lowly officer in his vast Mercenary Legion, that the young Michael, a barely qualified Manager-Officer, was given command of a staggeringly large portion of the Quieting's foot soldiery demonstrated once again that, among his other virtues, Constantus I had a sterling eye for talent.

I will not recount the Quieting campaign here. Events like The Sundering of the Crystalline Labyrinths, The Slaying of the Hundred Thousand Behemoths, The Rising Deluge, The Duel of Fire, and The Scouring have tomes upon tomes of content written of them already. As we all know the numerous challenges encountered by the Quieting forces were as horrific as the minds that devised them, and the horrorscapes these men must have seen could have accounted for an entire lifetime's worth of nightmares. But, as the many first hand accounts of this great campaign have attested to, at the forefront of every charge was the same blood red Praetorian. And in that bloodstained Cataphract, a young patrician was finally encountering the challenges he always dreamed of.

>>62290177
Thanks. I'll try to wrap this up soon.
>>
>>62290392
And with the Armenian Cluster finally Quieted, it fell to the soldiers of the Quieting to resettle and repopulate the now cleared area. Most of the patricians and mercenary pilots who had served in the various Cataphract companies returned to Zant as swiftly as they could. The campaign had been long, after all, and spending too long outside of the Regional Capital (as it was still called in those days - the Dragon Wars would remove any pretense of RoME's remaining authority anywhere but Zant) would leave one blind to any power shifting in the Great Games' subtle machinations. Of those who stayed, however, a great number were those who served in the Armenac's retinue. In pride, Michael's retainers each added a single crimson strip to their otherwise unblemished Cataphracts, and would become known as the Patricians of the Armenac. And among them, there was the untempered Michael the Armenac, the First Patrician.

While these patricians would serve as the core of the police force for this region, building opportunities for themselves and expanding their dynasties, the Armenac was never one to rest on his laurels. It was said that, as soon as the frontier defenses were established around the Cluster, he begged with tears in his eyes for the Legate-CEO to send him elsewhere.

And his request was granted. Michael served with distinction throughout Zantine space, challenging any who would dare taint RoMEan soil. He skirmished with the Saxons, the Franks, and even the strange men who seemed to bear RoMEantic arms from the Core Regions with equal fervor and without delay for centuries at a time. Those outside of the Armenian Cluster found him uncanny and strange. He was described by one historian to be more man than fire - an all-devouring blaze that raged for centuries against the enemies of Zant.

But those of the rising ByZantine Empire would know true fire soon.

Honoratus Lascaris, 134 years old
Patrician Strategos of the Macedonian Theme.

No frills. Serious. No sense of humor. All can be ascribed to Lascaris and he would not deny such claims. For one has no need of such things when dealing with the Barbarian Balkans, as he would say. Lascaris took control of the Theme from his Mother after her assassination by rebel forces. When Lascaris learned of there main HQ, he wiped it from existence without landing anytroops, for the moon they were holed up in no longer existed. Due to his increasing duties of being in charge of the Theme, Lascaris has ceded his control of the family fortune to his younger brother so he could be wholly devoted to waging war and civilizing the Balkans.

He does not deal in the frivolous depravities that his fellow Patricians deal in, seeing them as wastes of time and resources.

Lascaris has managed to earn the devotion of his troops from his no-nonsense way of ruling and actually getting results while lessening casualties. Deep down he actually cares about them, but he does not let it show to anyone, for fear of being replaced.

Why does it feel like non nobles in ByZant are in a shit situation?
>>
>>62290684
All at once, fleets of great black vessels beyond the conventional ship designs of man entered Zantine space at once, carrying fire and death. The Dragons of the far regions had come to end man, in Zant just as much as the Core Worlds. ByZantine citizens burned and died as strange reptilian creatures with wings descended upon their homes from the void of space. The Armenac Patricians fought them just the same as they did against the Patricians' Horrors during the Quieting, and ended up better for it than the rest of the Empire. The damage toll in every area but the Thracian mini-cluster rose far beyond that of the Armenian Cluster. Even worse, the once CEO-Legate, now CEO-Emperor Constantus was slain by a Great Dragon beyond the Golden Gates of Zant.

It was with that surprising information that the new CEO-Emperor called Michael and his surviving core of Armenac Patricians back to Zant for the first time in centuries for a conference. It was a strange sight. Men who hadn't seen their native planet in close to half a millennia marched in gigantic machines to salute someone uncountable years their junior, who, with infinitely less experience, claimed to rule over them.

Negotiations raged between the remaining Zantine Patricians (many of whom feared for their power and safety now that several of their investments had been ruined in the Dragon War) and the now dominant Armenacs. The conference ran on unhindered for a year, until, surprisingly, two palms at opposite ends of the table slammed down in unison. Those of the Child Emperor Constantus and of Michael the Armenac. The emperor barked an order, calling for all but himself and the Manager-Officer (ironically, he had never been promoted beyond that rank. Though rising any higher would have severely cut back on the time he could spend on the battlefield, so perhaps this was planned.)

Accounts differ on the exact content of the dialogue between the aged soldier and the emperor. Armenian accounts claim that Michael's fiery temper of the dominated the talks. Zantine recitations say that the child emperor carefully led on a beast in the shape of a man. This author would propose a much more simpler account.

The young emperor frowned, and leaned back in his golden throne. The fate of RoME - of billions of citizens - rested upon his next words. And so, he gambled. For he prayed that he knew answer to the question he was about to ask.
>"What do want?"
The features of the man before him changed. For a better year the aged soldier had been more a stone than the fire he heard of. But for the first time since he arrived on Zant, the Armenac smiled. And it was a terrifying thing.
>"To fight, your grace."
The child emperor nodded and stated simply.
>"So you shall."

Between the young emperor and one of the oldest men of the Empire, ByZant took the first steps towards recovery. The Sixth Mercenary Legion was divided into themes, the two most powerful being the Thracian and Armenian themes. Michael was made the CEO-Strategos of the Amerian Theme, and returned once again to war against the Dragons and, soon, the Saracens who had caught wind of the mercantile empire's weakness.

The Saracen have made great strides in seizing land in the Armenian Cluster. They've cut deep into the heart of its territory, and push ever forward. But, at every step, at every major battle, they see the same sight.

A single red Cataphract standing at the front of the seemingly endless ByZant lines, blazing crimson against an ocean of purple.

And within that terrifying machine, was a smiling man.

Holy shit that got away from me.

>>
>>62290977
Comparatively speaking, things aren't quite as bad for citizens under the ByZant as they were under the RoMEans, as odd as it seems. Standards of living haven't dropped noticeably in Zantine lands since the fall of Rome (barring an incredibly heightened chance of death by Dragon). Additionally, you have a much smaller chance nowadays of being kidnapped at a mad patrician's whim and turned into a horrific monster because 1) a fair amount of Zantine patricians died from the Dragon War, 2) those patricians who remain really don't want to lose their remaining resources. Hell, if live in the Armenac, they might actually deign to listen to problems that you're having so long as you're willing to shove a pointy stick in the general directions of either the Saracens, the Dragons, the Alpha Franks, or the Saxons (though the last two don't quite come as often as they used to).

Finally, the emperor has been campaigning pretty hard for the rights of the common citizen. While his efforts are primarily focused in Zant, the laws he's campaigning for would technically affect the entire empire.

Honestly, it isn't a bad time to be a ByZant commoner. Positions in the Themes are pretty open, the patricians haven't stolen your daughter, and your cousin all the way out in The Middle of Nowhere, Armenia is having a great time drinking with his Patrician-Owner while they sit on a mountain Saracen corpses/Dragon carcasses!

The Black Ark
Nomadic Enslaved Gigantes, Flagship of Thomas Du Mordred

Without doubt the nightmares of Avalon given form, the Black Ark constitutes the single greatest combatant to sail the void since the theorized Sidhe civilization. Just how Thoams came to control a Gigantes is debated and theorized, but is unanimously agreed to be through the use of some form of brainwashing/Sidhe mind control.

It is armed to the teeth with several fleets worth of weapons and the shielding power generation necessary for such a vessel, likely scavenged or constructed through slave labor.

However, there is a silver lining to this situation. The Black Ark is a tremendous money/resource pit for Thomas. Without the centralized star nation at his beck and call, the BA requires uncountable resources to operate everyday. The BA is actually among the smallet ever recorded, even smaller than the previous one. It cannot stay in one place in case of a Round Table or other Polity counterattack. And the time it takes to perform a jump is much too long, it requires over a month for the most minimal jump.

Don't forget that the recent civil war that happened due to the previous Emperor's death has inadvertently purged a fair bit of Nobles /aristocracy as well as their retainers and allies through gambit pileups going off everywhere. Without that, the reforms would have a far harder time going through.

I wonder if there will be a new generation of 'Western' immigrants from the families of the VG/travelers who wish to take up a new life in ByZant? It'd be funny if the 'Barbarians' the previous Nobility disdained were what saved ByZant.

Black ark feels bit extra. Lord Thomas is supposed to be unpredictable and insane ghost, not a supervillain.

Him having a death starish supercraft takes away from his mystery. When PCs encounter him they should be afraid of what sick stuff Mordred will bring along this time instead of just "Oh it is Lord Mordred and his Black Ark"

The more vague Lord Mordred is the better. That said, The Black Ark does sound kinda cool.
Either it was something he had during the Dragon Conflict - a ship to rival Tristanite and KAY flagships - Or the Black Ark is something in the future (The potential Mordred Empire), so perhaps we could witness Lord Thomas hunting for a Gigantes in the current timeline. if PCs fail to stop him they will later find his horrific creation.

>Dark Knight Alwold the Cyclops

Reportedly a Knight vassal of House Mordred, Sir Alwold did not disappear at the start of the war. Instead he stayed at Avalonia and tried to "defend" Lord Mordred against charges of treachery by the Round Table. He even went as far as challenge King Ulther into single combat. Lord PenDragon accepted the challenge and put a vibro-lance throught Sir Alwolds cockpit - removing his eye with scrapnel - before throwing him in a prison.

Alas, Sir Alwold was liberated by Morrigan cultists and late-war fought several times under the banner of his cursed liege. However he was always at the sidelines, never again at the front.

Not being present at Calhamn, Sir Alwold fled to the Hinterstars after the Dragon Conflict ended. Or perhaps was he sent there as some kind of backup, some have wondered.

He has been seen several times at the final stars, usually lording over a small population of humans who he protects from harm and lets live in relative peace. He has not usually been hostile to Round Table forces - preferring to evac himself and those willing to depart with him. Yet he is a bane of bandits and Dragons are not been known to land on his worlds.

It is assumed that The Cyclops has received intensive cybernetistion - yet some have stated that variations in his behaviour are best explained by different generations using the same Mordred-custom Double Axe.

Sir Alwold remains an interesting puzzle - ome of the mysteries of the Hinterstars.

Because that would be interesting if the stars/systems were the 'waterways' by which ships traveled.

The Beast of Caerbannog

"Death awaits ye all if ye dare venture to the Beast's Lair!"
-Gwyn the Sage

While Arthur PenDragon is best known for his victories and defeat at Camlann, there is a tale of a beast which caused he and his entourage to flee with gale like speed. Reports from his comrades and himself recount of the beast's power and invincibility, how even Artillery Grade HK weapons could not fell it. How it tore through Castles like soaked parchment.

The losses it accrued shall never be forgotten, or avenged for Arthur forbid any further contact with it.

And so the Beast has remained unmolested and thankfully never ventured from it's Lair...
>>
>>62295865
Texts and accounts of the Beast's origins are spotty and inconclusive. Many give it qualities more mammalian than mechanical which lends credence to it not being a Morrigan creation. It's small size is also puzzling. Many compare it to being no higher than a man's ankles yet it could tear through Castle plate and murder everything inside.

It's blinding speed, monstrous strength and miniscule stature were the main contributors to the death toll inflicted by it. Woe betide whom so ever incurs it's wrath, for if even X-Caliber was near defeated by it, nothing these days can...

Pathfinder Co.

A corporation not exactly part of the Round Table. In fact, it is easier to think of Pathfinder Co. as a think tank for MERLIN. Pathfinder works on theoretical and practical applications of FTL Travel. They are constantly working on improving current FTL methods to better humanity at large, though most of their efforts are directed towards the Round Table and Avalonian aligned space.

It is under direct protection of MERLIN which forbids any interference or spying from the Round Table which could ruin Pathfinder Co.

Currently heading PC after the resignation and arrest of the previous CEO Sunnhild MacAra after her selling of company secrets to Sagramore Skunk Werks 7 years ago. Since her election by the Board and being screened by MERLIN, Rénâée has proven herself an able administrator and leader for the company, possibly even more s than her progigal predecessor. Focusing her attention on improving internal security and the reinstatement of checks and balances within the company to prevent a redo of what happened.

Married to her husband of 27 years, Wiergils (Al-Malaki) Dumont, they have 3 children all trueborn.

A FAE which shows up periodically across the known of human space. Resembles an old man dressed in rags. The FAE controls a Starway Gate of unknown make, which does not appear to need an attuened twin to operate. The Gate can send who or whatever through it with ease no matter the distance or location.

The only way for access of the Gate to be granted is by answering the riddles of the Gatekeeper. Answering them wrong will result in one being randomly sent somewhere, few obliviously return from such a fate.

'Puddle Jumper' Cavalier STEED FTL Drive

Though only in it's prototype stages, the Puddle Jumper shows much promise in it's capabilities. Showcasing PC's progress into FTL miniaturization. While the range is nothing to write home about, the fact that an FTL Drive can be minitarized enough for a single Cavalier and Knight to perform FTL travel from one star system to another.

While most STEEDS take the form of a backpack like device to enhance abilities, the Puddle Jumper is more a separate drone craft with FTL Drive attached to it. The PD takes the form of a motorcycle like craft based on an older model of theorized STEEDS which would act as "Battle Taxis" to transport Cavaliers and provide firepower through carious means. However, backpack STEEDS prevailed for simplicity and being much cheaper to produce and maintain, as well as taking up less room.

Switchblade Class Cavalier

Some say the prototype Switchblades are heralds of what is to come for Humanity.

The Switchblade class Cavalier was designed and produced to finally try the RT's hands at finally putting the concept of a transformable Cavalier to practice. As stated, the Switchblade is a rare show of the whole of the RT joining together in an endeavor with surprisingly little bravado and dickwaving involved. Originally headed by TS and KAY Shipping, it soon picked p more and more Corps. wishing to join in on the project leading to the current project.

The current Swichblades are purely test craft and it shows. More consideration is given to test pilot safety and data gathering than anything else. Such testing is done under heavy supervision and a host of Cavaliers and Castles t hand to protect them.

Originally designed in Zero-G environments, the design inspired some engineers to modify the chassis to better it's aerodynamic properties and allow true atmospheric capabilities with astounding success

The Beast is these days to be mostly fabrication / propaganda by Morrigan Cultists. However Sir John DuLac feverishly defended the Beasts existance postwar and was last seen taking his Castle on a quest to find it and destroy it. Some scholars have detected some remarkable bite marks from unknown source in the last pictures of X-Caliber before its final battle.

Arent these the basic HKs as they are rarely ever launched and the melee variant blast basically goes upwards from Artillery all up to nuke in strenght?
Always when looking for truly overkill weapons in this setting go for Black Nukes.

That has been discussed. Also mostly civilisation has been following the Starways, being the easiest way of FTL. Therefore seas etc are more blank spots for Starways but we of course can inject some nebulas etc for visuals.

Said Patrician, Victorinus Lucaenus, was so impressed that instead of killing Hrothgar , he instead took him under his wing as an apprentice and as manager. His insistence on not taking Genemods of cybernetics is concerning to some, as the injuries he's accrued over the years and the stress of battle have begun to wear him down.

Rewriting a bit

Cosmic Widow, Longsword Class Cavalier

A 'Cursed' Cavalier produced mid DC. It is regarded as 'Cursed' for every Knight that stepped inside it dying. Rumors persist that the 'Curse' first began when the first Knight who piloted CW spurred a Pagan woman he took as a lover. He had spurred her by being unfaithful with her catching him in bed with another woman and caring more about chasing glory than his relationship wit her. She cursed he and the Cavalier to meet a gruesome end just before attaining the glory he seeked and left. The Knight gave little thought to a baseless threat, until he met his end ingloriously in his next battle against a True Dragon moments before landing the killing blow.

While the death toll inflicted by the 'Curse' has been low during the DC, the superstition surrounding it led to it simply gathering dust I n the hangar or being piloted by Knights too dishonorable or terminal in injuries to make one last grasp of glory and honor. However, it disappeared sometime before the Battle Of Camlann, never to be found again.

Since then, innumerable ghost stories have been told of the 'Cosmic Widow' travelling the stars one way or another falling into the hands of an unsuspecting Knight and wreaking it's grisly toll...

The tale of the CW is told as a precautionary tale to all upcoming Knights of the dangers of being unfaithful and letting glory blind one self to the dangers and loved ones around them.

'Aria' System

One of the most unusual and powerful pieces of Cavalier equipment to ever leave the labs of Lanval. The Aria is essentially a Spellsong amplification system for use of Cavaliers by Knights that have proven skill in Spellsongs. Designed and made with aid from MERLIN and the Green Monks, the Aria shows a huge leap forward in the understanding and application of Spell Songs for the RT.

The implications to such a system are obvious and many in the RT called for it to be pulled from any form of market. The ability to produce Cavalier grade Spell Songs on the battlefield would lead to a new arms race between the Corps. and the weaponiztion of Spell Singers.

'Fairy Feather' Anti Spell Song system.

A sister/counter piece to the 'Aria' by Lanval. It does exactly as it says on the tin: cancelling/reversing Spell Song effects. Such a device also has been known to wreak havoc/disrupt Sidhe technology.

Holy shit

The Aria and its upgraded versions have been thought to radically alter the battlefields of the future. Luckily Spellsong-capable Knights are 1 in 1000 kind of suprises (and most often are recruited into Tank Monks).

Post Treshold the situation might be compeletely different, though. Currently the sets (along with Fairy Feathers) are crazily expensive and reserved for anti-dragon/sidhe exploration duty.

The open secrtet Elite SSW Cavalier cadres. Their identities are completely secret for security reasons.

Cavalier classes used by them range across the board from Daggers to reportedly a Claymore. All Cavaliers they use are modified for stealth operations and similar. Colors are various dark colors (Blues, greys, blacks etc.) and camo patterns for concealment. No personal insignia except for the Sagramore crest and the Grim Reaper symbol located upon the shoulders.

They have been sighted many times since SSW has been founded. They became known to the public and Corps. at large during the DC due to necessity. The battles of El Eulga, Mendreia and Egcote were their finest moments.

Current number of Cadres are a closely guarded secret, though last reporting showed an approximate 8 Cadres operating simultaneously across human space.

Like most Knights, the Shadows are trained for a variety of environs to deal with and adapt to any situation they are thrown into. Personal comabt and survival training are a large focus to the Shadows, each Knight is a formidable combatant even on foot and teams have been known to take down some Cavaliers.

The Cohorts of the Shadows tend to be composed mostly of Infantry and Aerospace elements since they focus on support and extraction as opposed to full on direct battle.

Both Knights and Cohorts are drawn from both the Aristocracy and Common folk to broaden the recruitment base.

The current ones need more details and there is fresh stuff already done here, good. More types and invidinual Dragons could be cool as well.

>Siren
The Siren is a medium sized drakebeast. Some times the are called Hags of Morrigan as well.

First encountered close to mid Dragon Conflict, this roughtly one and half dozen metres lenghy cybermonster was chielfy an amplifier and focus for Morrigans Spellsongs. Their physical combat skills were mostly speed and claws but their main focus always was at the radiowaves. They truly could even immobilize/hijack Cavaliers of surprised Knights. No missile could hit a Siren for they would charm them to return to their firers. Sometimes advanced versions were used in even more complicated cybermemetic curses such as the Mistake of Mercia.

Yet after long-ranged Railcannons became accurate enough Sirens were no longer seen on the battlefields. Instead they began to prey on civilians, supply lines and unsuspecting transports. Even a single Siren could cause horrible damage to an isolated outpost when it would lock all the doors, turn machines against the occupants and finally just pump the air out.

Thankfully rare after the DC, it seems that survivng examples lie in waiting for their next prey in some desolate ruinworld, in some Sidhe Forest or in the systems surrounding the Mediterraean Gulfe.

"Officer" Beasts/Dragons

A line of variants to virtually all Beasts/Dragons under Morrigans control. It appears that the need for quality over quantity became apparent for Morrigan and Mordred due to the fact that too many of the Bests and Dragons were being slaughtered by Cavaliers.

Drakes being the prime Anti-Tank/Cavalier Dragon available to the Morrigan forces is well equipped for the job. Whereas most Beasts and Dragons make use of Plasma cannons for such duties, the Drake makes use of a Particle cannon situated with in its maw. To make use of such a weapon, the Drake straightens its spine and makes it as perpendicular to the ground as possible for the tail particle collectors to work their stuff. The PC of the Drake is remarkably powerful given the hurdles required to make it work as it does.

The weakness of this PC is the somewhat lackluster range, however the penetration is phenomenal and even then outranges the standard plasma breath found on the larger Dragons.

Other than that, the Drake is equipped with Vibro talons on the forearms and legs, the fangs are mostly for decoration and acting as a muzzle for the PC.

Winged Drake
Variant designed for atmospheric travel. Rarely deployed, believed to be a case of Morrigan's insanity seeing as the performance is rather lackluster compared to Wyverns/Griffons. However it allowed for an Aerial PC to attack from above at weak top armor.
>>
Harpy

Small flying Beast, around the size of an Alphyn. Used similarly to the Alphyn in a mass deployed, cheap swarm unit. The ability to glide and fly make it quite dangerous. Commonly equipped with razor sharp talons and wings for melee, on occasion has been seen with grenades/bombs for bombardment from above for swooping in for the kill.

Pathetically armored, even less so than the Alphyn and incapable of sustaining damage. Weak and lightweight structure further compounds their fragility it also makes it incapable of lifting and dropping a full grown man, without Cuirassier plate despite what the tales would have you believe.

Tyger

The medium weight Assault Dragon. Its fairly large size belies its incredible power and speed. Armor wise it is around the same of the Drake, but structurally it is incredible, allowing it to achieve near acrobatic agility. Weaponry tends to be well rounded for a variety of encounters, making packs of Tygers a deadly foe as their versatility becomes quadrilateral in the presence of so many Tygers. While they work best in packs as with all Bests and Dragons, the Tyger is mainly used to act as filler to provide support and cover the weaknesses of Beasts and Dragons.
>>
>>62312892
Tygers did not show up to the DC until the midway point around the same time as the Siren. By the late period, the Tygers had undergone further refinement and enhancement. By then, their arsenal had been overhauled from being a series of light weapons intended for grounding opponents down to the more rounded and heavier armament they are now known for. The appearance of Longswords and the heavier Cavaliers are likely the cause of this, though appearance of greater numbers of Cavaliers in general may also have something to do with it, the Beasts and Dragons in general became more heavily armed towards the end. Jump jets for boosted mobility and movement options were added for mountain and urban fighting. It was half way between the mid and late period that the Great and King Tygers showed up.

The Leviathan

True Dragon variant designed for aquatic/amphibious assault. A rarity among the forces of Morrigan not only for being a TD variant but an aquatic/amphibious one in the first place. With the vast majority of battles in the modern age taking place in space or on land, the large bodies of fresh/salt water on many planets are ignored. This is mostly due to vulnerability and obsolescence by other weapon systems. Most maritime combatants are helicopter carriers and corvettes/frigates more for versatility than raw combat power.

The Leviathan and other aquatic/amphibious Beasts/Dragons take advantage of this weakness to strike where RT forces least expect it: the Oceans.

Leviathan can also operate in space if needed like any TD. In fact, it spent more time battling in space than the water throughout much of its appearances. But when it did achieve submersion it wreaked unspeakable havoc with its unique hydrokinetic powers allowing it to control the seas and weather at will.

Tight myoelectric muscle packages and digitigrade legs allow superb mobility, whether running down prey or jumping to greater heights to pounce on the unwary. Would soon form the bulk of the MF infantry as shocktroops and urban purging.

I do like the consept of a uber human-scale warrior. Given that Dragons Teeth were already designated as horrible opponents for non-Cuirassier foes and evolved during the war from crude melee hordes into actual soldiers with freaky rifles just replacing them latewar with these Werewolves is bit crude. Particularly as DT were nicely unique compared to 'wolfs.... perhaps renaming could help.

The Wereteeth were the late war shock infantry of Morrigan. Thought to originate from Dragons Teeth warriors, the Wereteeth were a class of their own. Standing just 2.2-2.7 metres in lenght, they were close combat monsters who could rip a Tank in half. It was apparently even more effective versus Cuirassiers but no single recordings of those bloodbaths survive.

Against Cavaliers, expecially Longswords, Wereteeth were more harassers yet they were not designed to combat them. The were one of Morrigans many beasts designed for lesser troops and most horribly, civilian targets.

Luckily Wereteeth numbers have been reduced greatly by the afterwar Purges and nowdays are rarely seen, particularly compared to their Dragon Teeth cousins. But every time even single one is seen it results in abandonement or extinction of nearests settlements.

I like it though we also have phantom knights to keep in mind. Though those guys are more spec ops in role.
>>
>>62317341
Wereteeth are the Super Battle Droids to the regular Dragons Teeth / Battledroids. Frontline supersoldiers.

The Phantom Knighrs are the nazgul/assassins so completely different. What are their estimated specs btw, they havent been detailed. Or should we not and keep them mysterious?

Just putting some ideas

-abilities are different for each/they all have the same
-teleportation etc.
-each is unique
-black, shadowy, misty. they seem to appear out of black mist/smoke
-fly without thrusters
-mind reading/telepathic abilities for defense/offense
-weapons that rust/disintegrate what they cut into
That sort of stuff

Phantom Knights of Mordred

Originated from Mordreds elite corporate/house guard. The once honorable nad dutiful men and womenwere paragons of the RT and followers of Chivalry. Such a sense of duty would be their downfall as they followed their master Lord Thomas without hesitation in rebellion. They would be seen throughout the DC at many points. Each time they became less and less human. It is not known what exactly they went through to become what they are. But it is theorized they were either the willing or not so willing subjects to Sidhe tech enhancement or even some form of Spell Songs.

Regardless of the process, the SKoM are nonetheless among Mordreds/Morrigans greatest champions. Each can wreak devastation upon RT forces due to the combination of abilities they had been granted.

They constantly project a telepathic aura to read the minds of those they wish and to disrupt with harsh signals. They can float/fly without need of thrusters, gravity detectors do not pick up anti grav technology active in their vicinity. Their weapons appear to disintegrate what ever they strike. And they can appear at will through black mist, even when defeated they will reform later.

How does this sound for starters?

I like it. Its implied they're also basically biomechanical body jumpers aka warframe where they don't use a ship so much as grow a body or take over a dragons teeth as needed.

Perfect. So they are still the same corrupted Knights. They're dangerous whether in or out of a Cavalier

Argravane Penal Colony XPG-35748T
"The Bird Cage"

The largest of Argravane's penal Colonies. Also the oldest and built upon the dead world of Blackstone. Said planet was ecologically destroyed during the DC by Morrigan terraforming weapons turned against it. Since then, Argravane has been building upon it to house millions of debt evaders, murderers and all manner of human refuse. This is probably the only consolation about the Bird Cage that no innocents are within its walls.

Such still does little to stop others from expressing concern for the near regular toeing the line of human rights abuse that goes on within.

The prisoners are put to work to produce all manner of cheap products that Argravane sells at significant markup to cover the costs of the Bird Cage alone.

The colony is guarded by numerous Knights and their Cohorts.

Bit too defined for my tastes. Let them be shadowy and mysteriousassassins and not everyone should have same powers.

The vagueness gives them power, explanations removes it.

If you say so. But those are the most common powers that have been reported/described by those that survive against them

Lady Monica Iglesias Du Galahad
59 years old
Former 3rd Daughter and heir to the Throne of Asturia

Wife to Lord Gabriel Galahad. They have been happily married for 40 years, though they had been courting each other since she was 14 and he 15 after the two met when Gabriel was on a business trip with his father to North West Hispania in the then emerging Kingom of Asturia. The two met at a grand party held by the Asturian Royal Family to celebrate a Lord and Heir to one of the RTs Houses visiting. The young adults hit it off very well with them practically fused at the hip by the time the Galahads had to leave. Monica wished to come with him back home, but Gabriels father disallowed it citing her Hispanic descent and Gabriel's engagement to a Dame. As such, the two bid each other adieu with heavy hearts. However, the two kept in touch for three years messaging eachother constantly. With Lord Anthoine's death and Dame Briana calling off the engagement, Gabriel and Monica decided to wed.

They married shortly after Lord Gabriel ascended to Lordship of Galahad Inc. Since then, Monica has been a supportive and loving wife to her very busy husband.

Her husband's recent quiet has been met with the same calm and love as she has always given him. It is apparent she is in on the reason for such silence, but she does not speak of the reason, only that it shall pass given time.

Dame Dorothée Francisca Du Galahad
39 years old
Heir to Galahad Inc.

Takes after her mothers personality and temperament though in appearance she is more like her father with strong handsome features. This caused her notable troubles when she was young and developing.

Has become a notable diplomat between GI and the Kingdom of Asturia over the decades along with training under her father to assume the position of CEO after his retirement, which is rumored to happen in a matter of years. If such rumors are true it may be a possible reason for the Lord CEOs recent quieting. Currently married with 3 children.

Vampires

An insidious cration of Morrigan . A Beast of vile nature, the Vampires are pure terror operatives with poor direct combat ability. Made to blend within the human population of RT worlds, the Vampires are made to perform deep cover for years at a time. To do this they are meant to acquire resources on site. most notably from human body fluids. The exact reasons for such a need are not fully known, likely the result of the arcane technology that goes into them.

They are also meant to inject victims with special nanites to hijack their mind and bodies for further infiltration and sabotage purposes.

Post DC, few Vampires show the high intelligence the DC period ones did. Most are little more than ravenous bloodsucking monsters that do little more than hunt and ambush unwary prey in the forests and hills of planets unfortunate to host them
>>
>>62323701
Maybe modern animalistic vampires are corpses infected with vampire nanites rather than lab created ?
Medieval vampires are often portrayed as restless corpses bloated due to blood drinking.
>>
>>62324212
That works quite well. There are probably a *few* of the old Vampires lurking around. They were made for deep, long operations. Maybe some are ruling a Balkan *Nation*?
>>
>>62324320
They could have their own planet/system whitin spehss romania.
Vampires would be a big problem in the balkans and carpathian nebula (Maybe they fled there after the dragon conflict ?).
>>
>>62324462
Now we're talking!

Oddly enough, many inhabitants of the Balkans have taken these True Vampires being rulers with open arms seeing as they tend to be better than the previous ones. The blood/plasma tax is notably better than being extorted for money.

Yeah, we do not have to fill our settimg with everything! I vote that we get rid of Space Vampires, they dont really belong to Mecha Chivalry and go to the Cybercultist / Phantom Knight territory anyway. They lack any kind of Swords of Avalonian twist even.

>>62321663
Good stuff listed here.

>>62322626
There is quite lots of tge setting already to learn to do preper sruff that belongs properly? And yeah I at least havent had time for all the time watch. Dammit have to finish Luna...
>>
>>62325630
Take your time write anon, your better than I am.

I'll make the new thread in a bit need to make dinner.
>>
>>62325630
A good twist on them would be getting rid of the whole aristocratic thing and making them bloated reanimated dead who feed on blood; the reason i added them was because they existed in medieval myth.
Also keep in mind they were going to be kept vague in distant "adventure regions" rather than being a mainstay of the setting.
>>
>>62326482
So the Vampires are more like rabid attack dogs of cybercultists plagueing the Balkans / Eastern Hinterstars? They can turn people to their own side with a single bite, nasty indeed. Kinda like Borg even.. seems cool enough, the Dragons Teeth do lack that although otherwise I am getting a zombie vibe from them.
And oldest of the Vampir - probably primordial ones - have appreared to get smarter over time. Fun addition.

Could work yet still needing something... Can the Vampyr pilot Cavaliers? How well?

(Other completely different idea for them: they are a failed RoME era genemod (ment to have expanded life lenght) who fled to far Balkans. Perhaps they cooperated with Morrigan, but this would give them different flavour. And somehow the whole blood thing is overused.. perhaps tgey need to feast on fresh bone marrow to maintain their life or such.)

The marrow idea is honestly something I've never heard of before. Marrow has many properties for rejuvenation and such.

I guess they could pilot Cavs. How well is up to the skill of the Vampyr.

I'm gonna start the new thread in a couple minutes. Can someone save this thread please?
>>
>>62326662
Maybe the smarter vampires could be older vampires who where the original living recipients of the genemod/nanites; while the feral ones are corpses who were turned into vampires through a rudimentary process.
>>
Good news and bad news everyone. First off I managed to save this thread. Bad news, I can't find the rest on chrome as it's a PoS. I know they're there, they just aren't showing up. You can save threads on chrome by right clicking and using save as.
