>To go over last time on the Primaris.

Reasons for Primaris.
-Do as daddy wants thinks to progenitor issues.
-More strength to rip and tear.
-More marines to murder-fuck Chaos.
-A way to save dying brothers through the Rubicon.
-Fresh forces with pure gene-seed resistance to chaos.
-The Emperors Custodes say you should take them.
-It's a gift from your father and apparently has the green light from Big E.

Reasons against.
-Bringing in outsiders at least for the awakened from the vaults.
-Pops is sprouting a lot of heresy bout this stuff.
-Fear of culture loss.
-The thought that you'll be forgotten/replaced.
-Your pals are saying its heresy to tamper with the Emperor's work.
-For at least the first-gen they should be cured of your deeply ingrained hunger.

Uhhh, Chapter civil war I guess?

Suggestion: We could someday make a game/storythread/writefaggotry where the Argent Strix tries to recover their captured brother. The results could either end up with:
-Daemon possessed Argent Strix, cult gaining great influence
-Argent Strix dies, cult survives
-Argent Strix dies, cult eliminated
-Argent Strix "survives", but is slowly turned into a statue if not rescued fast enough or with enough objectives accomplished
-Argent Strix survives, but is either put out of his misery or turned into a Dreadnought
>>
>>71415079
>There is only thing scarier than an Argent Strix.
>A possessed Argent Strix.
>>
updated tldr resume
>Ultramarines with Blood Angel Implants
>Drink demon blood and do blood and wine rituals to curse their curse so that they arent cursed anymore
>friends with the church so they could eat a demon in front of them and they would still call them as pure as a saint
>Live in a giant hollow world used to stockpile missiles, and where every man, woman and child has at least one gun
>the world has no water and its a wasteland outside the city due to missile testing
>the city has four (4) major gangs, the House Cheshire(clowns), the familia Stalisi(mafia), the Seamstresses Guild (Psychotic women and Housewives with conections) and the Duster Caravans(cowboy taxi drivers and space truckers)
>The planet, besides being the world of the chapter, is also a base of operation of the Inquisition and the ecclesiarchy
>one of the moons had its population misteriously disapear and has been [REDACTED] and quarantined despite having tons of water the planet needs
>that moons has an freshly arrived ork infestation trying to steald the remains of a Warlord Titan and an Inquisitor is trying to recover it without asking for the chapter's help, so that she can gift it and make them own her a favor
>other moon is a giant cold factory and has a really small cult forming that doesnt know they are a cult and are being missguided by a demon without their knowledge while the incompetent Inquisitor Casanova investigates them
>>

I have an stupid idea that i think would work better on /qst/ than in here, why dont I grab the AI Dungeon and try to make it write some story for us?
>>
>>71415380
Do it if you want.

But I like the system we've made.

Space Marine chapter for a game of Deathwatch. Planet and moons are rife for Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader. The quarantined moon is a great dark fantasy adventure.
>>
>>71415430

Oh god.
>>
>>71414934
I think we're loosing steam because it's not the weekend perhaps? Or maybe it is simply because people want to roll for a chapter these days, not write stuff about it...

>>71415079
Perhaps we should organise something on march 14th or march 21th? Having a break before writing more stuff might bring back some new anons?

>>71416499
Is there something in particular we should ask? Or references we should pick?

>>71416529
With a little luck if the players survive they could join forces with Inquisitor Ackorian!
>>
>>71416529
He' make a perfect NPC, especially since newer people would underestimate him a bit due to his personality.
>>71416865
Some drawfaggotry would we be nice, also some more fleshing out of the system as well.
>>
>>71416865
Maybe Fuhor punching the daemon prince and shattering its horn. Or Luthor. Or the armor of the unbreaking against a bunch of Chaos warriors.

Is it ya or nay to have Imperial Knights on the quarantined moon used as a training program to fight suitable principles for the Titan?

>>71416983
>>71417015
Whoever make a reference sheet, I shall post it (unless you guys want to do it yourselves).
>>
>>71418067
>Imperial Knights on the quarantined moon used as a training program to fight suitable principles for the Titan?
Not a bad idea actually. Fighting feral boyz to protect the peasantry is good practice.

>Whoever make a reference sheet, I shall post it (unless you guys want to do it yourselves)
I could do it later when I get off work.
>>
>>71418067
I'm going to give that a nay, since the only people on the planet are the inquisition and the bare minimum of humans left from before the planet had whatever catastrophe befall it.
>>
>>71418162
there aren't any feral orks on the quarantined planet
>>
>>71418896
If the moon is a training field, I don't see why the few people are an obstacle. After all it's an inquisitor that leads the Titan project, she has ties to the Admech and she even has her own ship no? The secrecy of the project works even better if you consider the low amount of people there!
>>
>>71419005
There are.
>>
>>71419024
the titan and orks are on a different moon, we ironed it out in the last thread
>>
>>71419072
We really didn't.

We had a group saying the Orks are on the car factory. And a group saying there are Orks and Knights on the quarantined moon. This is something we need to iron out.
>>
>>71419092
I just think it would be too much of an overlap as from what i have gathered going through the threads this moon that has been quarantined we are trying to leave a little more mysterious, like some sort of weird event happened and the inquisition stepped in for whatever reason to keep an eye on it, and yea she is well connected but there are a couple of different inquisitors mucking about in the system.
>>
>>71419176
I mean I don't really see how putting orks on the planet makes it less mysterious.
>>
>>71419072
Titan and Knights don't necesserly need to be on the same moon. If the orks appeared on the quarantined one, it would be perfect to use Imperial Knights as a secret training program for the Titan!

>>71419176
Well unless we decide the moon has no Imperial Knights or that it has a blockade, I don't see why the training program would be a problem... Perhaps we should wait on me more to debate?

>>71419198
I think what he meant by that is the less there is, the more people in the future can fill the gap with their own stories and be invested.
>>
Okey, is the moon argument again, so lets split hairs and see if i can make a middle ground for us to work with
First Moon has Inquisitor Casanova in it
Quarantined one had Inquisitor Ackorian
So we either leave the Factory moon without any major events or put the orks and the female Inquisitor on it.
If the orks are in the Quarantined moon we should come up with a new event for the factory moon to take place, and some Inquisitor working on it, if not and leave the orks out of the quarentine we need to expand on what was the great catastrophe Ackonia is studying

I'm for putting the I and Orks on the moon that's sealed off. Something happened 500 years ago to cause a mass disappearance of the population, along with all Psykers on the planet. The remaining people, a small fraction of the population woke up to find everyone missing, dubbing the event 'The Vanishing'. Events on the planet devolved into anarchy and the Inquisition quarantined it till they could discover what happened, believing it to be psyker related in nature.

Over a couple of centuries the warring people settled down and the fractured survivors of humanity huddled together in sparse strongholds, with some time in the last century the titan being brought in as a defense measure against whatever is there. Bout 80 years ago the Orks crashed looking for the titan. Imperial Knights assigned to protect the warlord go out to defend people from post-industrial orks as they gradually devolve into savage feral orkz, believing one among them will rise to be the precept to pilot the Warlord in the end of times for the planet when something awakens.

With the great rift forming activity and phenomena worldwide have been increasing as the people struggle to hold on in their dark fortresses. Warp tainted beast in the woods. Objects float. The veil of the warp grows thin. The people huddle together now and a whisper of the end of their world coming. Psykers among the populace (normally outcast due to gradually reappearing from the children of the non-psyker population as all previous ones vanished) begin acting strange, but what else can you expect from witches and sorcerers.

Ackorian and Lady Kael are just the two most recent in a line of Inquisitors seeking the truth, occasionally making trips to the abandoned feudal cities and digging out dead civilizations, searching for answers. Ackorian believes it related to the Oceanic cults that pop up in history, Kael believes it to be the Ignis cults. Is one right? Are they both? Or just mad folk on a fool's quest.

So, do we have much on the dusters? I skimmed over the last thread, but couldn't see much for them. If we don't have a reason already I have a suggestion for why they're considered weak despite having lotsa dudes and a solid reputation.

I'm thinking that the main problem facing the Dusters is that every caravan is so bloody independent and proud. Like, there's rivalry within the Dusters, enough that its entirely possible that a few insults and an attempted murder could split the entire organisation into dozens of smaller companies. So, the highest members of their leadership expend a lot of energy ensuring that doesn't happen.

So far from what I can recall we have on them.

>Space cowboys.
>Hotheaded and aggressive but typically good people.
>More like a workers union/guild than an actual gang.
>They retrieve water from the ice pillars launched by IVb.
>They've got a lot of guys.
>Lots of bounty hunters after them(presumably when outside the hive).
>They either get the water for themselves/the community.
>They offer their services and protection for trips outside the Hive for those wishing to go out.
>Travel presumably on hoverbikes/wagons.
>Bounty Hunters are likely after their cargo more than them.
>>
>>71420276
I like it, we can work with this, now we need something happening on the car moon
>>
>>71423804
They could also just be really spread out. Like, the Dusters operate between every hive on the planet, whereas everyone else just operates within one or two. So even though they have many dudes, mustering their full power is very bloody difficult. Makes them a bit of a sleeping giant.
>>
Should we also start coming up with some of the campaigns that the argent strix of taken part in later on in the thread? that way we can try and get things that we are already on done first.

>>71420276
I like this backstory here, I think it is the best for a compromise.
>>
>>71423804
I think that this is a good explanation, maybe add on all the different bounty hunters out is the wastes that are slowly grinding away their numbers. Sure they got the gumption but they lack the unity other gangs have and get jumped frequently by whatever hothead bounty hunter group looking to make a quick buck.

Gonna try my hand at a little write fagging,

"You weren't there boy! When the gangers started war that we in the force never had even conceived." The old arbite reclined in a solemn resignation.
"In those times you couldn't walk the beat for more then an hour before getting into a running gunfight. It got so bad that the white counts were called to bring in some form of order to this emperor forsaken hive." as the words left his mouth with a particular tinge of venom that few had heard from this sergeant before, he snatched the nearest bottle of amasec and started to fill his glass. the recruits where in awe, during they're schooling they had heard about the prosekan block wars.

"I'm sure you've all been told that this stayed in the under hive" HE coughed out a laugh like it was a cancerous lump from his lungs
" but the truth of the matter is that all the major players got tired of their shite fiefdoms down there in the trash and muck. they were fierce nothing like the clowns or the stalisi that woudln't dare make moves out in the open. No, these animals were bold, of course back then there were hardly any of us on the streets making sure they didn't step over there bounds." with another sentence of pain finished he downed the glass in one go, after settling from the liquid pain killer he resumed.

"It finally came to a boil when they got it in their skulls that they ought to own the hive, so in the first night they marched on sixteen different precincts, one of which being the main officio."

He poured himself another round of the amasec.

(cont)
>>
I imagine the Underhive a lot less like what you think of when you think underhive and main city. And more like 30's new york or a more earth-like large city due to the enhanced tech for average life and so many orderly organizations everywhere, and the fact the most noteworthy gangs are so organized(side the Dusters and even then they're more like workers union/guild than anything).
>>
>>71427765
"They got the head of all the arbites in the system and fucking string him up, he was hanging off the roof for a week by the time wee had broken through and taken the precinct back."

"We went in with the pdf, and we paid for every inch of the damned block in scores of men. as soon as the first stall happened the governor called for an immediate council of the directors and white counts." he stared at this glass for a few seconds. But to the recruits it felt like minutes.

"by the time we had pulled him down from the building, a new wave of men had come to help us reinforce the precinct. That damned building. We held our ground for another week before they routed. One of the counts himself was leading in the relief force that broke them. That was glorious, they were like nothing to him he strode through them cutting and shooting any that moved towards him." He brightened up as he recounted the breaking of the gangers on the marble astartes might.

"Eventually once everything had settled, the wounded had been evacuated, and the new officers and defense troopers settled in Arbite Santiago went around trying to find anyone willing who would be crazy enough to accompany him on an assault on the nearest stronghold. I was one of the only ones crazy enough to join him. that was even before he let us know that the astarte would be joining us." He flashed a smirk towards the enraptured recruits.

(cont)
>>
you know I'm just realizing you could basically play a custom game of necromunda here. With the four gangs, Wild Hunt, and arbites.
>>
>>71428108
He drank the second glass seemingly quicker then the last."The brothers that serve in the white counts forsake their names during their service. They take on the titles of their holdings instead, the kill team was 10 in total myself, santiago, three pdf troopers who i never got the names of, pvt. Joseppi, pvt. Santino, pvt Abramo, sgt. Trudeau, and the Whtie Count of the Sicilian Spire. We struck at night, well closest thing to night in the underhive, the count had dispatched six men easily without making any noise." the seemingly good mood he was in had soured in but a few words.

"Thats when he point ed at the pdf troopers and Abramo and directed them to find the reactor room of the compound secure it and begin an overload sequence when they received his signa, they knew what he meant, an Argent Strix always made a point to speak without any air of misunderstanding." he bowed his head for a moment before grabbing the amasec and spoke again.

"It meant that they needed to hold the reactor while it overloaded, make sure none of them could get in there in time to stop the sequence. They turned pale but what were they to do, he had years upon years of tactical experience and knew exactly what was needed to see that the hive would be restored to order. I never heard from them after we departed, they had nothing to say I suppose."

"we pushed through the compound clearing it room by room. The count lead us through this twisted mansion. His armor somehow stayed ti's pure white even as he cut down these rabblerousers with his chain axe and bolt pistol reducing the lion share to nothing but viscera and fountains of blood. Often he would pause and watch them fall as if he where contemplating something but invariably he would return to the battle at hand." He only took one drink from the glass this time. "I assume he was wondering how his charges, those born under the graces of the emperor could turn such hate against his agents. I never asked him what he felt"

Regardless of my earlier roll, I want Orkz on the quarantined third moon; if you want them on another moon, why not have both? The Ork Rok may have been blasted clean in half by the guns & missiles of Vetus Sanguine and her moons, with half crash-landing on the third moon and the other half slamming into another moon.

I'll bet that there are plenty of asteroids in near planetary orbit (of which the two unrolled moons may be far & away the largest).
>>
>>71428527
...and, while we're at it, I imagine that the outer system has at least one has giant or water giant, circled by glittering icewater rings & moonlets, from whence Vetus Sanguine's burgeoning billions slake their thirst (because of VS' 3 watery moons, one is too tainted to harvest water from, another is already sending as much as their own billions care to part with -- at a premium thanks to supply & demand -- and the third is quarantined & redacted.

Even so, mammoth water tankers daily arrive from across the Imperium to empty their holds of ice before filling them with weapons & ammunition.
>>
>>71428437
"we had reached the throne room, such as it was, and there was one of the arch conspirators seated laughing at the carnage we had wrought through his measly palace. We had lost santino and joseppi along the way to this room, the counts gold and jeweled armor had at this point acquired a few scratches to the paint, and a bloodied hand print on the face of his golden helm." A grim chuckle escaped the old arbite's mouth. "I assumed he was about to begin some sort of monologue, but as he opened his mouth the count's arms flew up into a stiff position and fired his bolt pistol into the crime lords stomach, ripping him in half."

"What was it like fighting with him?" an eager cadet asked. "The count? amazing, invigorating, and chilling all at the same time. Not once did his vox speakers let anyhting besides prayers to the emperor and their ancient battle cry escape. No signs of stress, exhaustion, surprise, nothing."

"he saved each of us at least once. As I was rounding a corner to begin another breaching maneuver, he turned from the gangers he had just finished with his pistol grabbing my arm just in time as where I had stood was now a scorched hole thanks to a lascannon."

"Similar maneuvers where being carried out across the hive. When our kill team had reached the surface again it was just myself, the count and Arbite Santiago. The count turned to us and signaled us to kneel, once we had he delivered the rights of the blood as he called it. I'll never forget what he said next. " Now rise my brothers and know that you are now part of the honored few who have been blooded' he took two blood samples from us and gentley tied them round his waste. 'you shall be forever remembered in our halls as those worthy of our brotherhood. Should either of you wish to become a serf for our chapter you need only petition my office and I will see you through.' "

"Santiago accepted after thinking it over for a month. I haven't heard from him since"

Oh! And, of course, why has nobody else seen this before? Those glistening, almost silvery in the hot sun (to reflect heat away), armored doglike predatory scavengers which get into everything, against whom every Vetus Sanguinite is armed with at least a powerful handgun, because one (or an entire pack) may be in every dark alley and forgotten pipeway even deep in any VS hive...

Yeah, those monsters? They're called Stirges by everyone but the m'reenz, who call 'em Strix, and named themselves after these Silver Stirges, these Argent Strix.

>chapter did in fact roll "totem animal" iirc
>>
>>71429767
The dogs aren't Strix, we're going off the hawk/owlish hybrid from legend.

Though I like the idea of them being silver. Glinting in the wasteland, soaring through the sky. The Emperor's angels from the stars take their noble visage and shape it from the one metal more beautiful.
>>
>>71429767
Those slimy monsters are perfectly evolved apex omnivores, the dominant form of life on Vetus Sanguine long before humanity arrived. They listen for water flowing with their pronounced ears (they look like numerous horns & spines), heartbeats, atmospheric pressure, humidity... they see & smell their prey and anything edible at all just fine. Their slime is somewhat reflective despite darker skin beneath, and they can squeeze into & through surprisingly narrow passages, especially the young on empty bellies. They can hear grass growing. You'd think sonic emitters set to some frequency inaudible to humans but painful to anything else would work. They don't. No sonic repellent works against them; in fact, it only tends to attract them... if they feel like investigating, suspect no danger (they learn), etc, so it doesn't work for rounding them up or repelling them.

They are like giant water bears in their ability to survive inhospitable environments, with at least one subspecies dubiously confirmed to have been observed active outside of Vetus Sanguine's atmosphere by a particular female Inquisitor....

Despite numerous efforts, the Imperium is unable to eradicate the native Silver Stirge of Vetus Sanguine by any means short of Exterminatus... and even that might not work completely.
>>
>>71429949
Silver Stirge confirmed species.

Let's talk about the armored vehicles this planet (and it's car factory moon, it's largest factory overseen by a white-bearded fat man in red who likes to laugh deeply but drives his motley-clad workforce of orphans with high esprit de corps very hard to meet & exceed deadlines, producing one of the most popular small cars in the sector).

They might not build Forgeworld-level heavy Baneblade tanks, but they do roll out millions & millions of much cheaper, more expendable IG combat vehicles.

Leman Russ MBTs might be too sophisticated? Lemme hear someone more learned in WH40K technology sound in on this, as I would not oppose.

What's a cheap fuckin' gun truck technical full of motherfucking dakka? Or a good light tank?

Holy shit, can they make Rhinos? The Argent Strix have metal bawxes as far as the eye can see cherrypicked from the many assembled on their chapterworld.

Obviously, this place also supplies just about ALL of the Bolter, Stubber & AsCan ammo for the Chapter.

...which, itself, is the final destination of the first campaign, as the entire second campaign takes place here as something like a low-tech, super grim & gritty, sparsely populated, ork infested OSRPG using the best parts of Warhammer Fantasy for a sweetly nostalgic D&D White Box feel.

There are Tales from the Third Moon, many involving heroes of those barbaric realms lifted up to the heavens to join the Argent Strix.

There are darker Tales... involving the few Inquisitors & their cohorts here, robed, concealing great power, revered by the primitive people here....

Mainly what I mean is when the 13th black crusade reared it's ugly head were we on the front lines of cadia, or were we intercepting any chaotic raiders trying to blow past cadia, did we assist lord admiral spire in regaining control in the void (I am unsure if bfga2 is cannon don't whip me)?
>>
>>71432676
I can see us trying to help out in the Damocles Gulf only to get decimated (because grimdark) because of trying to stick as closely to the Codex as we could and because of our choice to take the hardest missions.
>>
>>71433267
Maybe we tried to live up to the idea that we are the perfect soldiers by throwing the chapter into what must have been at the time an escalating crucible in the Damocles gulf and have learned that cooler more calculated heads must win out over pure zeal.

How many Imperial Knights on our moon? If we follow the Neon Genesis Evengelion path, around 2-3? We could also roll 1d6? If we want more in the future, some Imperial Knights could be unoperational (caused by the Vanishing maybe)?
>>
>>71435687
Considering a full Knight house has a few hundred knights, I would assume that the moon would hold around 10-20 knights just to use them for testing purposes to find an aspirant worthy enough to pilot the Warlord.

From last thread, figured I should put it in this thread so that the anon who made it would have their efforts be in vain.
I think the penal world or death world should have orks on it, that way we can have grounds for the chapter's past conflicts with the Orks in this system.

Do the Dusters have much of a presence in most Hives though? Like, I imagined that the most you'd have is like, a meeting hall or a recruitment office. They obviously have to have some presence in the Hives, but I feel like it's pretty limited in comparison to the other gangs, even if that's just because they don't have the man-power to have major presences in every Hive.
>>
>>71441019
The way I saw them was kinda like a taxi company in Manhattan. You hail one and there's a good chance it might be driven by a Duster.

I feel like they just wander around. They may have territory, safehouses, meeting places, and the like in the Hives but they're rarer. Probably have their own houses and gathering places. They assumably just kind of wonder around unless some sort of meeting is called for.

This map is still missing Vetus Sanguine Moon E, the outermost fifth moon, which is practically identical to D, the fourth moon, in that they're both tidally locked airless rocks -- the near side of each is used for gunnery & rocketry testing from the planet's vast arsenals, while the center of the far side of each contains a fortified outpost replete with outwardly watching planetary weapons batteries and sensor arrays to cover the planet's blind spots: their shadows.

So I got a bit bored and decided to tackle an Assault Marine minor story. It's not much but I never really saw myself as a decent writer.

Decapitate, parry, shoot, parry, stab. It was more than rote in brother Chiron's bones when another ork stepped up to take it's cohort's place in a long convoluted line in the attempt to take his life. It had been a month of eliminating ork tribes on the Penal World of Spectrotex, his fellow battle brothers all equipped with litanies of faith and hate in their voices and hearts, his was a simple acceptance of duty and yearning to follow it through.
Dodge, slash, shoot, parry, decapitate. His lungs gave a painful sigh when an ork got a lucky punch into the chestplate of his armor, only for it to lose it's arm and soon afterwards it's existence. He still remembers his first kill before he was found by the chapter to become an Astartes, it was done out of self defense over a cup of water. A bigger lad than him thought they could bully him or cripple him for it since he looked like a weakling for his age. The stupid sad sod suddenly saw the shiv in their side, shocked and in pain they doubled over, only to get that same improvised blade in their carotid artery.
Stab, parry, decapitate, dodge, shoot. Four more orks hit the ground with a hundred more to go before the greenskin warboss. He sometimes wondered if his fellow brothers could sense the heartbeats of the people around him, or if it was just a trick his own mind played on him. He knew he wasn't human anymore, he sacrificed his humanity so that humanity could live, but the thought still existed like his own shadow, always close and just out of reach of the light.
>>
>>71443142
Slash, punch, parry, shoot, stab. Despite the near overwelming number of xenos, he and his brothers were making good time outside of the wounds taken by brother Siros and Caprias. A more cautious commander would have held them back, however with their own hunger for victory and the fact that sending them back now would have lowered their squad's effectiveness, and with their goal very nearby made it seem to them more of a lesson in foolishness than common sense.
Parry, kick, slice, decapitate, punch. Already out of ammo, and Chiron for the fifth time that day saw the symbolism of that empty bolt pistol. You could have more than enough ammo in the galaxy to clog up the Eye of Terror and there would be more orks than ammo for all of them. That thought was soon interrupted when the warboss tossed a smaller ork at him to throw him out of his serenity, "A good attempt xeno." Chiron muttered "But terrible execution.".

>>71443159
Slice, dodge, slice, dodge slice. The Power Sword sizzled with lightning, the powerpack of his armor trilled with energy. And Chiron saw the warboss's heartbeat, the only times when he knew the Red Thirst came to him hard was when he could see a living person's heartbeat, the way the vitae flowed through their body the same way promethum flowed in the fuel tanks of a chimera or leman russ. It was useful sometimes, especially against creatures who's strength lies in ambushes. But in the here and now it was simply irritating.
Decapitation, and the so called Ork Warboss lies dead, it's heart too stupid to realize there is a more enlarged hole where it's head used to be. His fellow battle brothers followed soon afterwards with the now casual chopping of the ork's morale being broken for the time being. But still the helmet stayed on his head, couldn't take the risk of falling upon his own brothers in hunger, that would not do, not at all. There were more wounded among his squad but thankfully not enough to take them out of the next fight soon to be ahead. But still that hunger remained. Close, but not out of reach of the light...

Not an oversight; it was a choice forwarded by myself in order to keep the early established trope of Vetus Sanguine using some of the smaller moons for target practice and off-world testing ranges for especially powerful or dangerous weapons (because we already had enough interesting moons, and it would kind of suck to generate two more moons if the rolls didn't make any sense or resulted in moons jarringly out of place orbiting this particular planet).

‘Trials of Mordrid’

Three standard Imperial minutes. That is all it took to cause Mordrid’s lateness. After waiting hours in line, it was nearly mid-day by the time she received his family’s aqua rations. Though her family were held among the highest of Hive society, they too had to stand in line. Even the Adeptus Astartes were not exempt from rationing.

Serving for two generations as Chapter Thralls made for a fortunate upbringing. Her grandfather’s selection for service securing comfort and security for evermore. Within the upper hive, she ran through the main corridor of the Fortress Monastery that dominated the upper hive. Three minutes, ‘too long’ the Warden would tell her. “If you are not early, you are late.” he would say.

Out of breath, she reached the panel to the theatre, tapping her access codes into the panel. The doors swung open with a creak and she stepped quietly to a rear seat. The familiar raps of chalk reached her ears as she took a dataslate from her satchel. “...and that it is the utmost lesson you shall remember. The tenants of service are our most sacred obligation to the Chapter.” the warden stated with conviction. The notes he had scrawled across the boards were utterly illegible. In these last years his old hands had begun to fail him, and his students.

Her eyes scanned the theatre, it was filled to the brim, Astartes aspirants and older thralls sitting at the front. She gasped as she saw among them a true brother of the Adeptus Astartes. By his crimson robes, a Sergeant no less. “As you may well have noticed, Veteran Sergeant Victis has joined our flock today. His contribution will entail a lecture on and guided tour of the Chambers of Supplication.” the Warden finished, with warmth in his tone.

A great applause rounded the room. The great Astartes stood, bowing to the Warden and joining him on stage, clasping the man’s wrist in the greeting of old. His robes were immaculate, each thread woven a masterpiece. “Likely a work of the Steamstresses Guild.” she thought. Victis addressed the theatre, “Chapter Aspirants and esteemed Thralls of the Sacratium. Today, those of you who achieved highly in the bi-annual appraisals will follow Warden Euphestus to the Chambers immediately as a reward for your faith. The rest of you will remain here for further instruction.”

Four or five stood, bowed to the Sergeant and followed the Warden out of the theatre. Mordrid flushed with jealousy, having performed above average but without any outstanding achievement.
>”Kill the Warden, change your results.”
Her heart leapt, such... thoughts had never come to her before. Was the envy she felt really too much to bear? Could she kill him? How? Mordrid shook her head in fear, as if to tip the thoughts out of her mind. “Pay attention.” She shook her head again, another voice, louder. “Pay attention, young Thrall!”
a voice boomed. Her mind spun as she realised it came from Victis, his hands clasped around the lectern.

His eyes sunk like bolt rounds into the back of her head. She lowered her head, attempting to hide her embarrassment, jealousy and shame all at once. “Had you not applied the same tardiness of your arrival today to the exam, perhaps would be worthy of touring first.” Victis chided her. “In fact, I hereby revoke your invitation. You are excused from the remainder of this lecture and hereby reprimanded one fifteenth of your monthly water rations.” his words stung her like venom. “Lord... I...” Mordrid stammered, shaking with untethered emotion. “No excuses young mortal. Away with you.” He motioned with his hand to the rear theatre doors. She simply stood shocked and left.

Would you terribly mind checking my digits? Also: often; although familiar with all the hives on Vetus Sanguine (and its second moon), this Inquisitor is no stranger to the other moons or the waterless wastelands between hives, traveling between all six spheres chasing down rumors while maintaining an impossibly intricate network of informants, largely operating alone. Usually "slumming" it in the seedier parts of the deep underhives in order to keep a finger on the collective pulse of humanity's forgotten dregs, an ear to the ground, and an eye to the shadows, Inquisitor Ender Goulde also maintains a modest reclusum for meditation away from the urban sprawl on the quarantined third moon in and below one of the more secure castles.

An inner and outer asteroid belt, and outer, uninteresting dwarf-planet or two. With a bit of light fluff.

The meat is there, it just need touching up.

That might actually be a great way to train new Dusters. Like, give them a taxi and have them do runs around the underhive. Anyone can drive, but it takes balls to drive straight through a gang fight and just keep going. That's what the Dusters look for in their drivers, sheer unflappability. It also makes a little extra money for them without stepping on the other gangs' toes too much.

So the training program for them is Drake Edgewater's existence from the video game Quarantine. I can dig it.
I can also see the potential for a "if you pull this off you're a legit badass" goal for each of the gang factions involving the rulers, including astartes. But they're usually just risky enough to weed out the gang's retards so only the elite can do them.

+++Veristus Aethor, Chief Librarian and the first Librarian of the Argent Strix.+++

Responsible for keeping the warp-taint at bay while his brothers indulge in their hedonistic blood rituals. It is his might and spiritual fortitude which anchors the Chapter in His light.

Veristus is an ancient battle-brother, he has witnessed centuries worth of the Chapter's history. But he was not always a member of the Librarius. No, Veristus began his journey as an Astartes like the rest of his brothers but his path as a Librarian came during one fateful battle during the Chapter's infancy.

A report from the Ecclisiarchy was relayed to the Chapter, informing them that a Chaos cult had arisen on a nearby world. Not wanting to give the cult any chances to grow, the local Ecclisiarchial Church demands the Argent Strix to eliminate the cult with haste.

The Argent Strix responded by deploying a tactical marine squad, named "Sanguine Redeemers", to the world. Out of these ten marines, one of these battle-brothers would be Veristus Aethor.

When the Sanguine Redeemers made planetfall it became apparent that the Chaos cult had become quite brazen with their rituals, no longer hiding in the shadows. The hive city of this planet was covered in eldritch markings, the scrawlings of madmen. Pools of blood littered the ground, tribalistic totems with various body parts strung up for all to witness. The Sanguine Redeemers returned disgust at the sight of the cult's actions. The reports were quickly interrupted by the sounds of gunfire.

(cont.)
>>
>>71458710
The cult had spotted the marines and had laid an ambush for them, in an instant hordes of cultists sawrm the marines, armed with autoguns, stubbers and makeshift weaponry. The Sanguine Redeemers responded with haste, bolter fire ripping apart the cultists. With every bolt loosed from their blessed bolters another heretic would crawl out from amongst the ruins. The marines dispatched the madmen with ease. But what came next would be a true test of skill and spirit. From amongst the gore and crumbling hive city walls came forth heretic space marines, flanked by foul creations of the Warp.

Through the smoke came heretical bolts. One... two... the Sanguine Redeemers began to fall to their new enemies. Between every burst of bolter fire the Strix had to duck and weave between the hellblades of the Bloodletters that charged forth. Quickly the battle had become a war of endurance. The Sanguine Redeemers were outnumbered, and now, outmuscled by the arrival of the heretic astartes and their daemon pets.

As their numbers dwindled, one marine would change the tide. Veristus Aethor felt something pulling at his very being as he watched his brothers fall and as he came closer and closer to the warp-spawn. He couldn't describe exactly what he felt, only that he felt some kind of connection to the daemons. It was apparent that the daemons could feel this too, keeping their distance, preferring more cautious strikes rather than mindless berserking.

(cont.)
>>
>>71458724
The Sanguine Redeemers, now reduced to a three brothers, could feel the end drawing in. Seeing his end draw near he turned his thoughts to his brothers, their bodies lie dead by his side, but Veristus Aethor knew that his brothers died as they lived, serving the Emperor with righteous fury. He felt something pulling at him from within once more, this time the connection seemed more refined. He felt what he could only describe as the Emperor's own fury, coursing through him. Seeing his fallen brothers only strengthened his resolve, made the flame grow brighter and more powerful.

Veristus Aethor was overun, now the last standing Sanguine Redeemer, flanked from all sides by the bloodletters, their tore at him, slashed and pierced his body with their blades. With a prayer to the Emperor, his fury combined with the blessing of the Emperor, was realised as a burst of energy, rippling golden light tore through him and the daemons around him. It burned at their flesh and reduced them to nothing. The battle was not yet over, as he now turned his gaze over to the heretic astartes who still stood, he unleashed his wrath upon them. One by one they were burnt to a crisp. Their bolter fire bounced off an invisible barrier of faith and fury that surrounded Veristus.

When it was over, only Veristus stood. Atop the pile of corpses and power armour, he had come out victorius. He had witnessed his fate, he had felt the Emperor's blessing. He would serve his Chapter as a beacon of light, in the darkness of the galaxy.

(cont.)
>>
>>71458739
Upon his return to the Chapter he was celebrated for his bravery and strength. The Chapter Master, intrigued by Veristus' abilties and wanting to them grow to be better refined as a weapon against the enemies of the Emperor, suggested that Veristus seek out the aid of another Chapter's Librarius to train him so that he may return and found the Argent Strix's first Librarius and to be their Chief Librarian. Veristus agreed and was sent to train with his progenitor, the Ultramarines.

When Veristus returned to the Chapter, his power was utilised to keep his brothers safe from the taint of the warp during their rituals, and during times of war. Veristus served his Chapter as their first Librarian with honour and duty. Using his abilties to sense the presence of warp-related abilties in potential aspirants, he would forge the Librarius from the ground up and lead a new generation of space marines along the path of His light for decades, perhaps centuries, to come.

That's reasonable, he just simply seems like he's gonna fall first due to the amount of leeway given by the Chapter Master, especially since he was the last man standing of his squad and was basically balls deep in chaos forces. Of course the Ultramarines probably quadrupled checked his soul for any taint so there's that.

They're Ultramarine fanboys who serve to remind their platoon brothers of the essence of what it means to be an Ultramarine, boys in blue keeping it real, dropping applicable quips & quotes apropos to help guide their brethren on the path laid down by Rowboat Girlyman in m-m-muh codecks.
>>
...as a reminder; you get awarded the right to wear Smurf blue kneepads from having to, y'know, take a knee and really go all out, above & beyond for the Chapter, like an Ultramarine would.
>>
Argent Strix have 11 Companies, their worst (only?) variation from the vaunted Codex Astartes, but they cannot be blamed for it; this Eleventh Company was mandated prior to their founding due to some forgotten aspect of the strategic precognition which inspired the founding of the Argent Strix. It has found itself thrown at odd jobs & emergencies by the Chaptermaster (insert eventual deployment for involvement with [redacted] on Koschei IV-C).

What are they up to now? I'd like to assume that they're in their usual "stndby" posting as a Special Police Precinct on a rotational deployment basis to whichever happens to be the "worst" hive on Vetus Sanguine at whatever time they are posted... until they finish cleaning up all the human garbage off the streets, or are called away to deal with worse trouble.
>>
I don't mind the idea of mini-chaplains, but the Ultrasmurf dicksucking doesn't feel so good.
>>
>>71463858
"Call in the Eleventh Company" is a common slang phrase on Vetus Sanguine for expressing an extremely high level of response to something of a high magnitude of danger or difficulty or other extremes, because of how many horrific infestations of hives by those Stirge monsters XI has been called in to clean up.
>>
>>71463950
>smurfjob doesn't feel good
It does for the Smurf getting his smurf smurfed.
>>
>>71463961

...in fact: XI Company *never* deploys if the rest of the entire Chapter is away from Vetus Sanguine; Company XI *always* deploys if the rest of the entire Chapter are on or near Vetus Sanguine; 11th Co. tends to deploy alone or alongside other Imperial forces in need, favoring non-Marine (in general) or non-Chapter (in particular) due to their superstitious preference to "spread out just in case."

The Eleventh also tends to get the most rebellious, Codex-defiant Space Marines in the Chapter (imagine...) including a fair number kicked out of the other ten Companies for whatever reasons.
>>
>>71464112
Nobody else came up with a name, and Sturge, Styrge or Sturge is like Strix, and they're slimy like Sturgeons, with sharp scalpels like Surgeons, tough like Argent Strix and nasty enough for the locals to assume the creature their namesake.

Someone might've gotten cut off during a radio transmission for help just as the monsters overran the broadcaster, whose final cut-short gurgling cry sounded like "...st-*URK*-gzh....". "Styrge."

No, because of two reasons:
>the fourth moon is an airless target for many of the planet's frequent weapons tests -- which the orks on the third moon love to watch
>the fifth moon is an airless target for many of the planet's frequent weapons tests -- which the orks on the third moon love to watch

But, seriously, I and the others established that the fourth & fifth moons would *not* be fleshed out, not only to maintain the early-established trope mentioned twice above, but also to provide some free space.

In time, some anon may want to "flesh out" one or both of these blank moons for his own campaign, like those two expunged legions were left undetailed so (You) could make your own lol.... And, if the campaign is good, maybe that moon gets written into the wiki.

The last two moons are left blank the same way that the II & XI Space Marine Legions were left blank (expunged): to allow players & gamemasters l, in their campaigns, to either leave them featureless targets, or "flesh them out" into fully detailed & populated planetoids featured in their games. Agreed, but at least *one* Space Marine in any given Argent Strix Army List *must* have *one* piece of powerarmour (such as a pauldron or kneepad) painted Ultramarine Blue to remind their battle brothers to adhere to their predecessor Chapter's ideals and the Codex Astartes.

These "blue badge" muh-reenz are known to be particular anal about codex adherence. *These* are *those* guys who perpetually weigh in on whether or not the Codex Astartes would condone any matter being presently discussed.

Yes, and they spend their off-time being hard-boiled COPS: gestapo in whatever hive has the worst crime & heresy or herovore/styrge infestation; they really express their Chapter's penchant for burn & purge here.

There's a popular TV show on Vetus Sanguine: it's like "COPS," but it follows Argent Strix from the 11th Company on police patrol, executing WARrants, and conducting SWAT operations; this popular program positively promotes public opinion of the Space Marines and the Imperium as loyal citizens watch the unstoppable servants of the Emperor uphold law & order by putting down criminals & heretics. What kind of units do we field? Do we follow the "balanced force" teachings of the Codex, or is this another aspect that we deviate from?

I'd personally say balanced with slight emphasis on melee combat like the Blood Angels or Black Templars.
I also expect the Honor Guard to straight up carry Relic Blades.
>>
>>71466812

>>
That PDF creation went well & appropriately; I think that we can nudge "hates Tau/greater good" to "hates communists & communism" due to planetary political culture as evidenced by universal civilian private armament.

(Hive Murka in particular is known for hating anti-Imperium communist scum.)
>>
It's probably better to ask this in the next thread (I assume we might since we have a few more things to talk about outlined in the OP), but how do we feel about Primaris? I think we would have a similar story to the Flesh Tearers. We dislike them because they aren't the same as us, they haven't suffered as we have but later they develop the same failings that we possess and then we finally accept them into our ranks as equals.
>>
>>71466812
Wouldn't we have a focus on range since everyone on the planet has a gun and raised from birth with one?
>>
>>71466831
And Xenos; while everyone else looks out for HERESY & CHAOS magic fucks, PDF wards against XENOS (which nobody else gives a fuck about).

Super elite all volunteer tanks & troops, panzer aces & armored personnel carriers....

What is the most popular IG/PDF/SM APC in the Imperium? Vetus Venus buidls 'em (assembled from parts constructed on its second moon's car factories).
>>
>>71466859
We already combine Ultramarine & Blood Angel Geneseed; why not fully embrace Primaris to the point where they are in the majority of our ranks?
>>
>>71466865
I'd argue the gun thing combined with our unending hunger would balance us out.

The guns keep us at range but our hunger drives us closer to devour our enemies.
>>
>>71466865
That's why I said slight emphasis.
>>71466859
I'm pretty sure it was brought up at least a couple of times and the consensus was "mixed, some embrace the idea, some don't. Some are neutral.". Not as extreme as the views on the Codex but it's there.
>>
>>71466812
>>71466865
Yes: everyone on the planet can shoot, and our PDF carries rifles and drives around the wastelands & hives in metal bawkses armed with ranged weapons.

Besides, if we need close combat, we call in the ccw-fpcused Argent Strix.

... that's not to say that our hiver recruits who grew up learning to fight in the close quarters of their urban environs don't get to train & use their close quarters fighting skills.

*Ahem*… Seventy-FOUR! And, if you do the math, if you divide a population of 14,000,000,000 people evenly between 74 hives, you get an average population in each hive of 189,189,189, or nearly 200 MILLION people in each and every Hive.

This seems like a believable number, especially considering that pastoral New York City's metropolitan area and immediate suburbs contain only about 8 million people today.

14,000,000,000/74>189,189,189

>Through the use of this more primitive world and their lack of overseeing forces where they've consolidated their power. Attempts to spread to Vetus Sanguine via mineral shipments have been less than successful, given the relatively high quality of life Vetus possesses for a Hive World and the strange nature of the cult. To my amusement, it seems as if even the Underhive itself is resistant to their efforts. They find no allies in the pious, and well-armed, population of the Hive, nor do any of the notable houses and gangs appreciate their efforts. Indeed the lastest effort of theirs seems to have resulted in a shootout between them and Stalisi with the Duster Caravans aiding them.

I was attempting to get across they were still making attempts to spread to Vetus, just that it was mainly unsuccessful. And that it was the ones guarding the Pretender's Throne mainly that disappeared back to the moon with their object of worship.

Are you saying that 189 million people is not a realistic hive population? The largest cities on earth's populations are each tiny fractions of this number. NYC is 8,000,000. One of China's largest cities has a population of maybe 20,000,000. Put ten of those Chinese supercities or TWENTY-FIVE New York Cities into ONE massive archology/hive, and there you go. Each Hive could cover a hundred miles on each side and still leave many millions of square miles worth of wastelands.

74 hives with an total population of 14 billion and an average population each of 190 million is perfectly reasonable, especially on such a large, "hollow" planet covered in wastelands and filled with caverns.

I'm not saying it isn't realistic. I'm saying it's not consistent with 40k. They aren't meant to be 10 Chinese supercities. They're superstructures meant to house world-sized populations of billions and we'd have more Hives then at least the next thirty Hive worlds combined.

Sorry for that OP, I personally do not know much of the lore other than visits to 1d4 chan, wikis and TTS but I wanted to participate so I rolled.

I think maybe we should just wait a while before going into it again...

In a month, april 15th, we shall make another thread and start from where we left off. Meanwhile I'll study 40K a bit so I could writefag a bit. Do you agree?
>>
>>71467617
I'm not OP but I can deal with that. It might give us more time to ruminate on some of the details like the Aspirant Trials and the Writefaggotry.
>>
>>71467604
We've already well established that. Better quality of life and cleanliness due to High Imperial tech. Happier from a large number of entertainers. More orderly on the surface due to armed citizenry and legal orders. Gangs operate more behind closed doors, some like the Familia and Dusters look after the community in small ways.

All in all pretty damn fantastic compared to your average Hive of scum and villainy.

Only the most volunteery of the volunteery.

>only the best of the best
So, we are literally taking the creme de la creme of the absolute best of the best of the people who volunteer on a planet with a population of 14 billion who are raised to shoot & craft guns.
>>
If the world is hollow, wouldn’t that lead to the unique situation of being able to build downward? And what is the center of the planet like?

I can work with that, sorry about the harsh response. Lots of work stress and really enjoyed these guys.

But I can agree with the sentiment this could use a rest for about a month or a half. In the meantime, between that I'll work to update the 1d4chan pages with the more agreed-upon stuff so we have a good starting point.

But yeah as >>71467605 put it Necromunda is considered pretty numerous with its hives and it only has about 7-8 functional, but the enthusiasm was admittedly nice.

>>71467655
The underhive is likely to be more like a hanging structure past a certain point. Maybe that could be where the heads of the gangs/houses live. Sort of like a underbelly version of the Upperspire.
>>
>>71467688
>Sort of like a underbelly version of the Upperspire.
Oh, I can see the very bottom of the underhive act as a meeting place for the major criminal powers, and as a place of execution for gangers who betrayed their houses.

Dubs decide the thread wait... april 15th or sooner?
>>
>>71467736
April 15th is good, one day after my birthday.
>>
>>71467688
Well that brings us back to the question of what the core is like. Is it natural or artificial? I’m leaning toward artificial If artificial how is it structured?
>>
>>71467766
I imagine it probably less like a molten core like earths and more some sort of constant combustion like a miniature star.
>>
>>71467753
Then it is decided! Whatever thread that may be created before said day will not be considered official or added to the 1d4chan.

This does not prevent anyone from writefaggin or to discuss whatever comes to your mind about the chapter with other anons in a thread, but is it not approved before we arrived at said day!

This is the decree of Vincenzo, Captain of the Third Company, bu orders of our Chapter Master!
>>
>>71467797
DOAT reactor of sorts? I’d imagine gravity in the underground would be wonky.
>>
>>71467834
It would certainly make it so that only the strongest gangers can handle the underhive.
Also I think that the Girls Club should be renamed to Devil Needles. It just sounds more snappier.

Rolled 3, 7 = 10 (2d10)

Alright: we've established, then, that Vetus Sanguine has 74 (and Secundus 35) population centers including cities, arcologies, hives, et cetera; let's see how many qualify as full-blown hives.

No we haven't, that was a mistake in the first place. Stop trying to push it.
>>
>>71468422
M8 I'm gonna have to play no-fun police and say no.
>>
>>71468422
Repeating 2s seem to indicate that two hives on the planet and two on the hyperurbanized moon are perhaps more or less abandoned...?

1 Hive is definitely "Duster City."
>>
>>
Well, we could always past the time and roll up the stats for the rest of the established worlds. I am curious as to what the environment of the Penal World is like.

Anon, it's clear we're creatively bankrupt at this point. At this point best case we all come back on the 15th with fresh energy and ideas. Worst case it goes out while still fresh without trying to beat a dead horse.

I understand your pain on the matter and after this post, shall let this thread rest in peace. Even if it dies, it's still a damn fine place to use for a 40k campaign.
And I'll still build that Penal Colony's stats whether you like it or not.
This is Forgemaster Kaltos, may the light of the Omnissiah be with you all.

On Vetus Sanguine, it never rains water; only bullets.
>>
>>71474228
Well it does rain water sometimes, but usually it comes crashing with huge chunks of ice
