I'm new here, if I wanted to add a city/lore to the Luden Kingdom would I just add it to the wiki and hope it gets approved?

Everything goes through the threads first, in case someone has something to say. Also, if you're going to participate in the wiki, wait a couple of hours before adding anything, to see if anyone has something to say. If you are going to write lore about Luden, you can check the wiki page first.

Reposting the timeline under discussion of Furlaniya/Azhar Nar:

>According to the Furlaniya lore
-Azan loses power in the south
-Attempts of the Nasr to conquer Furlaniya
-Nasr leader Karyd the Lame conquers most of Furlaniya
-Tensions for azanese taxation.
-Furlan leader lanzio of Glemore rebelled against Azan
-Furlaniya becomes independent
-Furlaniya recovers the lands under Nasr occupation
-Lanzio dies and Furlaniya fractures.

>According to the Azhar Nar lore
-Azan loses power in the south
-Azhan becomes independent during a struggle
-The Nasr invade Azhar Nar, and occupy the land for 200 years
-Misrah tas-Sur frees Azhar Nar from Nasrian occupation
-Misrah is crowned as the first King of Azhar Nar 80 years ago.

So with this we can order the events as:
-Nasr gets invaded by Lorient and Lemonaint (2.211 ABE)
-Beginning of the New Azanese Faith
-Azhar Nar begins invading lands south of Furlaniya
-Furlaniya becomes inependent (around 2.661 ABE)
-The lands of Azhar Nar becomes independent (around 2.661 ABE)
-Lanzio of Glemore reconquers Furlaniya from Nasr, and immediately gets backstabbed
-The Nasr invade Azhar Nar, and occupy the land for 200 (3161 -280 = 2.881 ABE)
-Misrah tas-Sur frees Azhar Nar from Nasrian occupation (3.081 ABE)
-Misrah is crowned as the first King of Azhar Nar. (3.081 ABE)

Everything correct?

Technically Florinth is a league of city-states, but you are right, the capital of the league should be Florinth (or at least the most important).

So how come the Nasr can invade Azan when they couldn't even defeat their neighbors?
>>
>>89411834
Azan was probably pretty decentralized by that point, and couldn't be bothered to intervene in another round of southern ethnic squabbles

Or maybe parts of Furlaniya already separated before the big independence movement, and it was these independent portions that the Nasrians invaded prior to the bulk of Furlaniya and Azhar Nar separating
>>
>>89412402
>Or maybe parts of Furlaniya already separated before the big independence movement, and it was these independent portions that the Nasrians invaded prior to the bulk of Furlaniya and Azhar Nar separating
I'm more in favor of this. Maybe Furlaniya and Azhar had some sort of internal squabble, began fracturing and becoming independent, only for the Nasr to take advantage and conquer them when they were no longer Azan.

Otherwise, Azan would just reconquer the land without that much issue.
>>
>>89412437
>only for the Nasr to take advantage and conquer them when they were no longer Azan
I think that is already how the Azhar Nar history describes things

The only issue is how Nasr took parts of Furlaniya before Furlaniya separated. So I guess it would now be:
- parts of Furlaniya separate
- some (or all) of them taken by Nasr
- rest of Furlaniya separates
>>
>>89412733
That being said, looking at the Furlaniya history again, it does sound like Azan was still in charge during the Nasr invasions. Perhaps they simply didn't make much of an effort to defend a region that frequently rebels anyways.
>>
>>89412733
Ok, sowould this work?

While the turmoil in the east was brewing, the west was enjoying a relative period of sorely needed peace. After so many years of fighting, the years after the birth of the Azanese New Faith saw very little chaos. The spread of the new religion throughout the empire had been quite successful, and most importantly, peaceful. To keep this peace going, they even allowed the more problematic province of Siuverland, as they saw it as a threat for internal stability. There were problems, but they were resolved peacefully through diplomatic means. The political tension that had been brewing within the lands of Furlaniya at the hands of the warlord Lanzio of Glemone, who began clamoring for independence in the already tumultuous southern provinces, resulted in a rebellion against azanese authority. Knowing that the region was already quite unstable, the azanese government decided to allow the secession, seeking to create a vassal Kingdom of the South in 2661 ABE. The logic behind this choice was that the region had simply become too costly and too unruly to control directly, and that it was a much more efficient and profitable deal control it through indirect means, tying the lands through vassalage rather than direct political control. The scheme quickly unravel as the souther nation of the Nasr tried to take advantage of the chaos and invaded the southlands. However, it could only take very small portions of the lands, and at great costs, since they needed a great deal of forces needed to keep the unruly furlaniyans in check. Within this context, Lanzio of Glemore began fighting against the nasr, but before he could drive them back into the sea, he was assassinated. While the nasr ended up retreating back to their homeland, the regions of Furlaniya fell into disarray. This all allowed Azan to establish strong ties with the smaller provinces of Furlaniya, now dependant on Azan to continue their local feuds.
>>
>>89413576
In the Yamantai Cape, the nasrians managed to establish a foothold that would last around 200 years. The region would see constant turmoil, as the nasrian occupation was not popular at all between the azharese. It would culminate in the rising of Misrah tas-Sur, a noble seeking revenge against the nasrians for the murder of his family. Quickly organizing many alliances with local lords and with the funding of Azan, he quickly expelled the nasrians back to the south, eventually being crowned as King of Azhar Nar in 3.081 ABE.
>>
So I'm thinking about the next historical map, since we're getting pretty close to CY. The next one would reach until the founding of the Avangar Empire, in 2.957 ABE.

The main events in that are:
-The fragmentation of the zemylander kingdoms continue.
-The Hyperboreans are broken as a nation, become nomads.
-The Princedom of Platinum becomes the main power in Zemyland and expands into Littlestep.
-War with the elyrians, Avangar appears and ends up saving the elyrians.
-The gnoll conquer the Kingdom of Ketlovia, beginning of the first olympiad.
-The empire of Elanxa begins expanding north before getting blocked by Avangar (possible war between Elanxa and Avangar for the archipelagos?)
-Hibila the Badgassi destroys the zidazzi and forms the confederation of Badgasi Mara Honi.
-Beginning of the drunig colonial expansion.

Anything else I'm missing?

>Kingdom of Copper (additional geography notes)

>The Crownlands – The first region of Copper conquered by the Zemylanders. It consists of territory directly ruled from High Patin rather than a provincial capital. A number of mines and lumber mills are still active in the region, though none are particularly profitable. However, the Crownlands are still relatively wealthy thanks to generational wealth as well as proximity to High Patin. The area upland of High Patin in particular is home to an odd mix of large dachas, abandoned mines, pleasant lakes, and small hamlets catering to the needs of the wealthy.

- High Patin (National Capital) – High Patin was the first major Zemylander mining boom town in what is now the Kingdom of Copper. It is now a small city (though large by regional standards) that is mostly home to artisans, fishermen, bureaucrats, soldiers, clergy, foreign representatives, and assorted hanger-ons. In the wealthier districts, the buildings are well maintained and made from stone, carved wood, and decorative copper. However, the poorer districts are shoddily built from wood planks and prone to fires.

Key Features:

The Royal Palace is a sprawling, impressive structure that looms over the rest of the city from a steep plateau. Although numerous wings have been added over the centuries, the core buildings and walls are original. The current monarch Meda Mednogolova has converted most of the courtyards into elaborate gardens, and greatly increased the number of rooms considered part of her private quarters.

The Razvratnik District is named after the Zemylander God of Debauchery since it is the de facto sin district of the city. Located between the harbor district and two wealthy districts, it is home to a mix of taverns, festhalls, brothels, and gambling dens. Many visitors are masked, which helps ensure the district is also a hot spot for crime and intrigue.

The Hot Springs are located just outside the city and are a popular spot for warming up during the winter. Officially they are available to anyone, but typically when the wealthy visit a particular pool they get their servants to clear out any peasants with bribes and/or threats.

- Kopebay Lodge – This large lodge is owned by the Krutin Family, one of the few recognized noble families in the kingdom, as well as one of the few native mine owners of note.

- Reuysk Lighthouse – This impressive sized lighthouse is partially plated in copper murals beseeching the mercy of the fickle Ocean God Legoluboy.

- Royal Hunting Grounds – This patch of hilly, old growth forest is protected for use by the royal family and their favored subjects. Queen Meda doesn’t much care for hunting, but sometimes spends time in one of several dachas or lodges here.

- Staazran – This village specializes in quarrying stone for use in High Patin, including dark limestone and soft brown sandstone.

- Timatim Citadel – This large fort serves as the headquarters of the Royal Army as well as its main training ground. It has been a while since the kingdom has been in a large scale war, so these days it is mostly empty except senior officers and trainees. The nearby town of Timatim has a love-hate relationship with the rowdy young trainees that invade its taverns every few days.

- Vysokiye Kurgany – These elaborate barrows host the dead of the Royal Family, their relatives, favored servants, and national heroes. The priesthood of Mirslava guard them fanatically.

- Yegokala – This villages specializes in breeding mooslephants for use as heavy calvary and ceremonial units for the Royal Army.

- Yuryol Mine – This mine specializes in jade, a relatively rare mineral in the kingdom, but one that goes well with copper to make jewelry.

>Miovolia

Generally considered one of the most profitable and well run provinces. It has several large mines, and its rivers support both farmsteads and lumber mills.

- Miovolia (Provincial Capital) – This large coastal town is the safest and most well run in the nation. Representatives of foreign investors and owners can be found here in large numbers, as can clerks and artisans of various mining, shipping, and forging companies. It also has a small but well regarded university.

- Nodomodel Mine – This large copper mine is currently the most profitable in the kingdom. This cluster of shafts, pits, and forges operates at all hours, and a number of rowdy taverns and brothels are located just outside the main lodging camp.

- Ogmarigan – This remote monastery of the priesthood of Aoghm is a major repository of knowledge from mundane to occult. Some believe they have ties to Biblion due to all the carvings and statues of owl-headed women, but this is merely a depiction of Aoghm that was popular at the time.

- Totloche – This ring of monolithic rock pillars around a shallow depression is all that remains of a rare Hyperborean timber barrow. Some priests of Mirslava have built a small monastery nearby to discourage tomb looters and necromancers, believing all dead should be able to rest in peace, even former enemies.

- Unterthal – This ancient Hyperborean village predates the Zemylander invasions. The nearby stave church is one of the largest of its kind.

- Vesna Woods – A minor rusalka-like Faerie Lord dwells here, along with some rusalka, sirins, lesnici, domovoy, pondlings, and human followers. It is an ethereal place, where everything seems more beautiful, temperature is always pleasant, and where ones troubles seem to melt away.

>Tenevyye

Although nearly all of the Kingdom is covered with pine forest, much of which is pristine and massive, the woods of Tenevyye in particular are wild and often unexplored by humanity.

- Magarkuta (Provincial Capital) – This mid sized town relies mostly on trade with the fey to generate wealth.

- Mohk Forest – This large but sparsely inhabited stretch of woods is home to a minor Faerie Lord known as the Stag King who is affiliated with the “Forest Triumvirate”. Other inhabitants include a few lesnici and sirins.

- Moski – This small trading outpost is where the fey inhabitants of Mohk Forest come to trade amber, alchemy components, scrimshaw bones and antlers, and rare magically formed wooden items for jewelry and foreign fabrics. Moski and Magarkuta make huge profits on these trades, but the Stag King seems to feel it is a fair price to pay for continued peace with the humans.

- Mrak Woods – These forests have a particularly dark reputation. It is said a hag of much power once ruled here before being slain by the snow elves in ancient times. Many pockets of darkness and corruption still exist here, which seems to act as a beacon for unseelie fey and violent predators. Inhabitants include small tribes of goblins and redcaps, and high concentrations of chorts, werewolves, bukavac, trolls, hags, and wooly spiders.

- Porewit’s Forest – Porewit is shape-changing Faerie Lord who along with his two brothers forms the “Forest Triumvirate”. This trio of Faerie Lords is one of the most powerful remaining in Zemyland, only really rivalled by Auntie Heigi and The Wolf, who live further north in Crimson. Although several types of fey serve the Triumvirate, the most distinct are the lesnici. Believed to have once been wood elves, they, at minimum have become larger, and have grown antlers. However, many have served the Triumvirate for over a millennia and have become powerful and distinct looking beings in their own right.

>Ashen Shores

The Ashen Shore is a 700 kilometer stretch of soft grey beach is considered to be one of the most idyllic places in the world. Never particularly well inhabited, the western portion became Copper’s by default, and were lumped into a province named Ashen Shores. However, most who owned summer retreats along the shore were based in Platinum. The appearance of the hydra led to the abandonment of the coastal mansions and resorts, and the interior inhabitants are an odd mix of Hyperboreans, fey, and fiercely independent rural Zemylander clans. Needless to say, central authority is weak here, but Royal Army patrols and tax collectors still travel as far east as Tikhory on a semi-regular basis.

- Ebenrau – The inhabitants of Hyperborean village don’t care much for Zemylanders, particularly tax collectors, so standoffs and brawls with government officials and Royal Army patrols are not uncommon. However, they don’t much like other Hyperboreans either, even those living nearby.

- Fort Mudolsk – This small Royal Army fort is often seen as the real eastern border of the Kingdom of Copper, though there are a few villages further east that Copper has some degree of control over. It is a dreary posting, usually given to soldiers seen as corrupt or hopelessly inept. Occasionally a few soldiers will be lost to bandits, spiders, or unseelie fey.

- Leshy’s Forest – This forest is home to the minor Faerie Lord named Leshy, who along with his brothers Veles and Porewit are known as the “Forest Triumvirate”. Their followers are few but powerful, including most of the lesnici, some ents, sirins, balachko, vodyanoi, and hags, and a few more unique beings like sentient animals and some allied Faerie Lords like the Stag King.

- Mamki – This large copper mine doubles as a prison since few people want to work in these bug infested hills only a short distance away from the Witch’s Wood.

- Tikhory – The surly, inbred inhabitants of this remote village are often said to be Hyperborean, though in reality, the families are all Zemylander with ancient roots in the region. The village doesn’t have much going for it other than being the easternmost point that Copper claims authority over. Tax collectors sometimes come out here for appearances sake, but they are generally expected to pay more for room and board than they actually collect in taxes.

- Vranova (Provincial Capital) – This rugged community is provincial capital almost solely by virtue of the fact that it is the only one in the province that can safely be reached by sea. For unknown reasons, although the hydra has sometimes been seen east of Vranova Delta, and occasionally west of it, it has never entered the delta itself. Due to a lack of available stable ground, the town is spread out over several distinct clusters of buildings, including two fishing villages, a small port, a lumber mill, and a decent size stone fort housing the provincial government and main garrison. Many inhabitants are Hyperboreans, “Khenomeri” from Lunatik Nine, refugees fleeing the Avangar Empire, and other undesirables from Copper and Platinum who were arrested on minor charges and dumped here.

- Vranova Delta – This swampy forest is reasonably well inhabited due to abundant fish, as well as the fact that many who were dumped in Vranova are unwilling to travel further inland. Crude shacks, small hamlets, and raft dwelling nomads are common here.

- Witch’s Wood – This patch of wood is home to a powerful hag known as the “Bear Witch” for the rotting bear pelt she wears, plus a few chorts and tamed bukavac. The bukavac are large, horned, six legged creatures resembling both a lizard and a toad. Although generally considered non-sentient, they are highly intelligent, needlessly cruel while hunting, and seem instinctively drawn to the service of unseelie fey.

>The Ridge

This hilly province is for the most part too remote and sparsely populated to be controlled by coastal based authorities. It is home to Hyperboreans, Zemylander hill clans, half-drow, and dwarves, none of whom are particularly loyal to the kingdom. Like many of her predecessors, the current queen is content to leave this region to its own devices.

- Kinboldir – One of a dozen or so small dwarven villages scattered throughout The Ridge. They lead isolated lives for the most part, but sometimes trade with human communities.

- Lyro Aerie – A large cluster of sirin nests built on narrow ledges and caves that open from a large cliff.

- Vele’s Forest – One of three brother Faerie Lords making up the “Forest Triumvirate”, Vele is probably the most introverted of the three and makes his home far from most of his followers and any potential outside visitors. Like the other members of the Triumvirate, he seeks to protect the oldest and most magical sections of the pine forests of the kingdom from exploitation or careless damage. Luckily for the Triumvirate, lumber is abundant in most neighboring nations, meaning most lumber operations are for local usage and harvesting is far lower than what it could be.

- Vydra (Provincial Capital) – This pleasant valley town is home to a significant half-drow minority, as well as some dwarves. It is located near the long lost underground drow city of Fsamel. After Fsamel was razed by unknown parties ages ago, the surviving drow fled to the surface and mixed in with the Hyperboreans. Although half-drow can be now found scattered throughout the kingdom, Vydra is still where they are most numerous. Vydra’s control over the rest of the province is weak, but it is still generally where The Ridge’s inhabitants turn to for direction, particularly the half-drow.

>Radmazna

Radmazna is a typical province, with a large town as capital, a number of active mines and lumbermills, and a river system that not only serves as the main transportation network, but also supplies water to numerous farmsteads and farming villages.

- Kryvat – This mid sized town is where products coming down the river are switched from barges to ocean vessels. There is also a large fishing fleet. Not far off the coast is a small, barren island where arctic merfolk like to gather. Fishermen and peddlers sometimes visit the island to trade trinkets and food from inland for pearls, shells, and items recovered from shipwrecks or dropped in deep water. Occasionally such deals can be highly profitable, but most of the time junk is traded for junk. Of course, for some, the real reason for such trades is just to view the unclad form of the merfolk up close, something which the merfolk seem to find mildly amusing.

- Radmazna (Provincial Capital) – This large town appears much older than other provincial capitals due to the fact it was once the capital of the kingdom, and much care has been made to preserve the original buildings and street layout. There are plenty of gorgeous mansions, townhouses, fortifications, and taverns built in the older architectural styles and featuring elaborate carvings in their wood, stone, and metal features. Even structures like warehouses and forges are typically well decorated.

- Up Country – The unofficial but widely used name for a hilly portion of the northeast part of the province that features many lakes. It is home to large numbers of pondlings and vodyanoi. The difference between the two isn’t always obvious, as vodyanoi are really just the offspring of pondlings and other species (usually humans, but sometimes rusalka, chorts, hags, or wood elves). Some resemble their pondling parent, some their non-pondling parent, and some become even more frog-like or fish-like than either parent.

>Slazyl

For whatever reason, political and economic power in this province has never consolidated behind within one town. The provincial capital has moved between several small towns throughout the province’s history. Although no families here have been granted noble rights by the kingdom, some of the wealthiest families rule over clans bound together by marital ties and/or multi-generational employment.

- Alegan – This mediocre farming town is mostly notable for the disproportionately large manor house located on the outskirts. A left-over from one of the times Alegan was provincial capital, its many rooms were meant to house guests, government clerks, and bodyguards. Nowadays it is half empty despite the fact that several core family units of the ruling clan live here.

- Dolym Wet Woods – The large pines of this forest are well adapted to the frequent flooding that occurs in this low lying, poorly drained area. Only during the hottest of summers will this forest be mostly dry except for a few lakes, and frequently large areas will be under at least a foot of water, sometimes for weeks. Humans mostly come here to hunt beaver and other fur bearing mammals. There are also a few pondlings and vodyanoi.

- Nakhorbent – This fishing town has a questionable reputation due to its unusually surly townsfolk and the fact that it seems to naturally attract sea monsters like the Northern Groper.

- Nisleni (Provincial Capital) – Meda made this town capital about two decades ago, but no one is sure why. It is the most dreary and unpleasant of Slazyl’s five towns, particularly as it is located on the edge of the Dolym Wet Woods. The town is damp, muddy, and bug infested during most seasons. The main industries are logging, fur harvesting, eel catching, alchemy ingredient harvesting, and brewing hard liquor.

>Kyrovsk

Kyrovsk is fairly typical province relying on a mix of mining and logging. It mostly stands out for the small shipyard in its capital, and the high concentration of domovoy in the northeast.

- Forest of Hermits – This particularly dense pine forest is home to the gnome-like minor Faerie Lord Ekel Ageykin. Ekel promotes a creed of radical selflessness, and his followers (mostly members of the gnome subrace known as domovoy) try their best to mimic his example. The domovoy (who resemble gnomes, but usually somewhat smaller and sometimes more bestial) have scattered themselves across the kingdom, where they choose a particular village or homestead to protect and serve in anyway they can, while keeping as hidden as possible. Most are adept at illusions, and a few have other forms of magic, but they mostly assist in mundane ways like cleaning and other chores, while only using their magic to avoid detection. Some humans find their meddling annoying, but most come to appreciate their hidden presence. Domovoy are most common in northeastern Kyrovsk, but can be found elsewhere in the kingdom and also sometimes other parts of Zemyland.

- Kyrovsk – This small city is a major industrial center by this kingdom’s standards, featuring both a small shipyard, a decent sized fishing fleet, and a some of the most active lumber mills in the nation. Several devastating fires have hit the town over its history, so many of the buildings are crude or utilitarian with minimal decoration.

- Sharatov – This underwhelming farming and river barge town serves as the de facto capital of the northeastern portion of Kyrovsk Province. It is mostly famous for being home to numerous domovoy, who are rarely seen, but try to help the inhabitants of the town in their own unique way.

>Neftegarsk

Neftegarsk is the location of both the Devil’s Forest, and Ozyopeysk, which has given it a rather cursed reputation. Its population is small and has been in decline for several generations. Those that remain are suspicious and unfriendly.

- Devil’s Forest – It is said this region was once ruled by the goat-horned Faerie Lord known as the “Black Devil” who had strong ties with Gogotha and perhaps other Demon Lords. The Black Devil is often credited for creating the chorts, who are in fact a collection of several races that have all been corrupted by the Black Devil and resemble him to a certain extent (dark fur/hair, ruddy or dark grey skin, goat head, or at least goat horns, etc.) It is believed chorts were created from humans, gnomes, satyrs, hags, trolls, and redcaps, among other races, leading to a range of sizes, shapes, and behaviors. Although the Black Devil is long gone (if he ever existed at all), chorts can be found throughout the forests of southern Zemyland, with the Devil’s Forest having a particularly high concentration of them. Chorts are almost always unseelie fey, and often demon worshippers as well, who delight in serving other unseelie fey, or working on their own personal sadistic hobbies.

- Norimki (Provincial Capital) – The latest provincial capital, it was chosen due to the reasonable sized garrison that was already posted here to keep an eye on the chorts of Devil’s Forest. It is a popular posting with young glory seeking soldiers and those whose self-confidence outweighs their ability.

- Ozyopeysk – This mid sized town was once the provincial capital before followers of Zanzarah poisoned many of the town’s inhabitants in attempt to raise an undead army. These days it is abandoned and widely seen as cursed. Occasionally outlaws, cultists, unseelie fey, or stray undead will dwell in the ruins. The army will only clear them out if they are attacking the surrounding villages too often.

Here's what I've got so far-
I couldn't find out which region Luden Proper is in, as it seems like the wiki only lists it as in the North East, so I put it in Cheerby.

While all of Luden is a sprawling city there are areas of key interest:

-Cheerby Mountains
The mountains of Cheerby. They would be seen as majestic, if they could be seen. The skies are so polluted that they look like giant walls of soot more so than mountains. Even ratfolk have a hard time traveling across them as air is functionally nonexistent the farther you go up.

>Luden Proper
The most populated area in Cheerby, with the greatest structures and elites.
>Cheesetopia Ruins
A failed project where the rats attempted to create a city of cheese.
>Godda
An industrial area where the majority of the cheese in Cheerby is produced. Sea-milk is gathered from all the coasts around Godda.
>Lurka
A midden which produces the majority of the workers for Godda.
>Bettergodda
An industrial area which tried (and failed) to use the reputation of Godda's cheese to increase their own profit. Instead it's mainly just used as a roadside stop for those traveling to the ruins, and Luden Proper.
>Bloashblo
A nesting area which uses an ancient Leng crane system to travel up and down the mountains.
>Coalcoaliron
A mining system that runs through the Cheerby Mountains. Cave-ins are regular, and often to get to a patch of minerals miners have to mine through rat corpses and skeletons.
>Rashi
A cheese area where cheese is produced by mixing sea-milk and salt from a nearby salt-mine. The salt-mine connects Rashi and Ticki, both areas compete to make cheese. The cheese is so salty it dehydrates anyone who eats it.
>Ticki
Similar to Rashi, competes to make cheese.
>Meakmaw
An area who's main demographic is made up of Gnolls. Because of the geographical location it is known for its unique foods. The most popular dish is a salted rat fillet paired with hard cheesy noodles making a sort of cheese spaghetti.

>...Continued

>Rattunel
A mainly underground collection of thin tunnels that connect the nearby areas. Crevices in the tunnels are filled with mudcheese that has become a recent addition to the local menu.
>Corglo
A sprawling area of rat corpses that has polluted the nearby river. Sometimes used by a desperate vampiric ratfolk and gnoll as an emergency dinner, however rotten it may be.
>Bloodpeak
The vampiric ratfolk haven in Luden. A nest of countless vampiric ratfolk that use the nearby corpse pit to thrive. The more sane and intelligent of the vampiric ratfolk settle in Chesspit.
>Chesspit
An area where vampiric ratfolk prey on nearby travelers, and produce a unique bloodcheese, likely the closest thing to actual cheese throughout Luden, and is considered a quality delicacy for any vampire.
>Lambpeth
A nest that takes in traveling rats from Luden Proper, Chesspit, and Rodenfort. It produces rafts that can travel down the river to Firebrough, in Rodenfort.

What does everyone think? Good so far? Bad?
>>
>>89419182
>vampiric ratfolk haven
I do wonder, how do the lesser vampires keep their numbers in check in a place as populated as Luden? Would the regular ludenites realize purges of vampires every once in a while? Plus, a commonly known vampire haven such as this would probably attract the attention of Vandervax and his undead. Full on undead invasion of Luden.

Also, great writeup, anon.

Here we have an approximation of the world's great powers right at the year 2.957 ABE.

After the Treaty of the Three Brothers went into effect in 2.797 ABE, the Arkadiya Empire ceased to be, divided between the three brothers. The founding of the Kingdom of Silver, Amber and the Princedom of Platinum managed to extinguish the risk of a civil war, something that was brewing within the empire. And it was a lucky thing that it did, since problems were brewing with Old Hyperborea. The hyperborean nation had been restless with the growing power of the zemylanders and their own respective loss of power in their own lands was causing great unrest in the ancient kingdom. The elder king of Old Hyperborea, Nivamos the 3rd, had been mustering his forces in secret, seeing the potential fall of the Arkadiya Empire as the opportunity he needed to drive the southerners back to the sea. As well as organizing and growing his armies, he had managed to establish ties to the old rivals of the hyperboreans, the snow elves, promising to recover their ancestral lands if they offered help. However, once the Treaty of the Three Brothers became public knowledge and the threat of civil war evaporated with it, King Nivamos thought his chances of success were too slim to bother, and slowly began dismantling his military efforts. This not only enraged the hyperborean nobility, but also his own son, Prince Moprovost. In 2.810 ABE, a series of border attacks by the Princedom of Platinum allowed the princedom to capture a series of town alongside the border. The poor response of King Nivamos against this attack left Prince Moprovost to organize an uprising against his father, seeing him as too weak to properly fight the outsiders and unworthy to lead the hyperboreans. By 2.811 ABE, Nivamos had been exiled from his kingdom, and Moprovost was crowned King of the Hyperboreans. He accelerated the readiness of the nation to war, increasing his public rhetoric against the southerners.
>>
>>89421821
While Moprovost’s actions were successful within Old Hyperborea, they were absolutely counterproductive everywhere else. King Nivamos’ plan to rearm and prepare the nation for war had been a secret affair, subtle enough to keep it far from the eyes and ears of the zemylanders. Moprovost’s plans on the other hand were public and obvious, giving all zemylander nations enough reason to begin preparing for war. Seeing the obvious result of the war, the snow elves retracted their support to the hyperboreans, preferring to stay away from the conflict. This enraged Moprovost, who declared the snow elves no better than the zemylanders, which did not help matters for him. Finally, in 2.834 ABE, a series of surprise attacks launched from Old Hyperborea against the Platinum Kingdom began the Great Hyperborean War. And while many expected the conflict to be over in a couple of years, due to the difference in available forces, the war dragged on for forty-five years. The reasons for this were that, despite his failings as a politician and a diplomat, Moprovost the 1st was a gifted warrior and strategist, a brilliant commander that managed to motivate his forces even when they were at the brink of defeat. The hyperborean warriors themselves were also fiercely motivated, seeing their lands occupied by the strangers who kept driving them further and further north. The bulk of the war was fought between Platinum and the Hyperboreans, since the Kingdoms of Silver and Gold were far from the hyperboreans’ reach. The Kingdom of Amber was able to help, but since it was poorer and less populated, its contribution was secondary even when compared to the military aid of the Kingdoms of Gold and Silver. However, it was Platinum who paid the biggest price in blood for the war. The Platinum Princedom was not going to submit to the hyperboreans, and managed to keep their forces on a stalemate, despite the massive losses suffered during the first years of the conflict.
>>
>>89421842
However, by 2.850 ABE, it was clear that the war’s conclusion was a foreseeable deal in favor of the zemylanders. Despite the prowess of the hyperboreans, their forces simply couldn’t take attrition like the zemylander nations, who could always rely on mercenaries from the south. Still, during the last couple of decades, the unusually strong winters stopped the fighting for most of the year, slowing down the conflict considerably. This allowed the hyperboreans, who had been driven out of their holdings to the south after an ambitious raid to the lands of the Kingdom of Amber had failed, to reinforce their strongholds in the north. The zemylander nations used this slowing down of the fighting to muster their forces for one great push to the north.
>>
>>89421859
The last nine years of the war are known as “the bloody years”, due to the sheer escalation of violence. Up to that point, the hyperboreans had a hope to defeat their enemies in combat, or at the very least regain enough lands to justify the bloodshed. But with the growing losses mounting and Moprovost’s rage driving him to madness, the hyperboreans resigned themselves to oblivion in exchange of a warrior’s death. This caused a schism within the hyperboreans, with some seeing that the senseless war needed to come to a close. Accused of treason and hunted down by their brethren, these hyperboreans were driven even further north, who would eventually become the first of the Alltaf Tribes. The remainder of the hyperboreans fought to the death, unable to push back the enemy’s advances, they instead tried to bleed them as much as possible. The snow became red as each of the hyperborean cities was taken by storm, leaving none alive, since even the women and children were armed and thrown into the meat grinder. The fall of the last city took two years, with the capital of Hiroria finally falling in 2.879 ABE, with Moprovost himself falling in battle. After the defeat of the hyperboreans, the scant survivors abandoned the cities, seeking refuge in the wilderness.
>>
>>89421873
The result of the Great Hyperborean War were truly dire for the hyperboreans. Their kingdom razed and exhausted, their cities were systematically burned to cinders to stop the hyperboreans from resisting further, leaving only charred ruins of once great cities. The hyperboreans were hunted down for a couple of years afterwards, until the kings of the zemylander nations decided they had been thorough enough, and stopped their campaign. Many of the survivors also went north to meet their cousins, joining the Alltaf. The territories of the hyperboreans were occupied by Platinum, but the sheer destruction caused by the war meant that there was little to gain from this occupation, so the land quickly became abandoned. The forests of Shelkvidur became overrun by zemylander wooly spiders, since the hyperboreans weren’t there to cull their numbers, and the land became quite a threat for human habitation. The damages sustained by the zemylander nations varied. The Kingdoms of Gold and Silver had contributed mostly by funding the war efforts and through mercenaries, but their distance towards the battlefront meant that their harm was only economical. The Kingdom of Amber was considerably damaged due to the frequent raids towards the region. However, the zemylander nation that came worse for wear was Platinum. With many cities and towns suffering great losses, the economy of the princedom was considerably damaged. However, it now controlled a considerably oversized army, a great deal of which were mercenaries, and it couldn’t simply disband them without repercussions.
>>
>>89421887
Thus, the Princedom of Platinum quickly organized these forces to the south, as they sought to fully control the Platinum Strait and its trade to repay the costs of the war. In 2.902 ABE, they began taking territories from Northern Littlestep, citing their historical ties as part of Greater Elanxa as a justification. Presenting themselves as the defenders of the old elanxan cities against the swamp dwellers, they quickly managed to control most of the northeast of the continent. This would turn the economy of the Princedom right around, as it not only managed to obtain enough land to pay all the mercenaries, but the control of the coastal cities at both sides of the strait catapulted the economy of the Platinum Princedom, renaming itself as the Princedom of the Platinum Strait.

The cities of northern Littlestep welcomed the presence of the Platinum Princedom for the most part. Having suffered the constant raids from the swamp dwellers for many years since the disappearance of Greater Elanxa, the presence of a stable power that could defend them from the assaults was more than welcome. Many still lamented the loss of their independence, but the princedom skillfully managed to play with the powerful families ruling the cities, so there was little struggle with the reintegration. The platinum diplomats also established ties to the nearby woodcutter cities, guaranteeing them that they were in no way interested in taking them over, as well as to create profitable trade deals in exchange of access to their natural resources. Once this was established, the platinum forces began marching southwards towards the cold swamps. The advance was slow but steady, especially around the Red Lake. The central swamps, however, presented a considerable problem. For one, the swamps were difficult to traverse, full of disease and with little fauna to hunt along the way. The need to maintain supply lines clashed with the difficulty of actually doing so, especially with the hardy swamp dwellers. Many doubted whether it was wise to continue forward instead of focusing on controlling the coastal cities of eastern Littlestep, but many also agreed that the swamps needed to be tamed if these exact same cities were ever going to be safe from assaults from inland. Nevertheless, the platinum soldiers were able to push slowly back the local tribes, forcing them to fight each other in the ever-tighter space of the swamp. This would continue for years, until only the biggest tribe was left as a threat: the elyrians.
>>
>>89431174
The elyrians were not an unknown threat. Having reached the swamps of Littlestep back during the 1st century ABE, they were an ancient culture that had fought and survived the Khenomeric Empire, Greater Elanxa, the Woodcutter Cities and the myriad of other swamp tribes that lived in that bog. They were a resilient people, accustomed to fight to the last and survive with very little, hence their resistance to outsiders. However, their numbers had been dwindling for decades now. The swamps had become colder and colder with time, which had made many of the hunting beasts the elyrians tended to hunt migrate to the other side of the river, where they couldn’t cross due to the prokoyroxans, with plenty of ties with the southern kingdoms and with strong fortifications all across the river to deter assaults from the swamps. The creeping cold was also killing plenty of the fish in the area, and with the shrinking amount of food available, tensions were brewing not only within elyrians, but with the other tribes as well. These problems combined made very difficult for them to resist the advance of the soldiers of platinum, though not was lost for them. A mysterious youth had arrived to the elyrian marshes mere years before the invasion of the Princedom of Platinum. Coming from the west, it joined one of the many elyrian tribes south of the Red Lake, and quickly became one with the natives. The man, now known as Avangar, became a powerful warrior, quite adept at magic, using his mystical talents and his skills at warfare to slow down the advance of the forces of Platinum. Soon, he began attracting other elyrian tribes to himself, and eventually he managed to organize a force that could fight the platinum forces on even ground.
>>
>>89431188
The war took an unexpected turn for the forces of Platinum. After Avangar began organizing his growing armies, the advance stalled and reversed, especially in the areas of denser swamps and bogs, where the guerrillas could easily outmaneuver and trap the platinum forces. However, in the areas closer to the Red Lake, the Princedom kept its advantage, since the terrain was much more forgiving and the local populations allied themselves against the elyrians, plus they had the advantage of bringing ships of bigger tonnage to the lake, being able to disassemble and reassemble them from their docks to the lake. In the end, the war dragged for too long, and the nobility of Platinum decided it was simply not worth the effort anymore. The war was dragging on for too long, and while the coastal cities were safe from attacks, being heavily fortified during the conflict, most of the farmland around them was at risk of hit and run raids, something that could happen for as long as the elyrians controlled the swamps. Thus, in 2.929 ABE, the Princedom of Platinum offered a peace treaty to the elyrians. The war would end, with each side controlling the territories under their control. The Princedom of Platinum would hence guarantee its domain over the northern cities and lands, as well as most of the territories north of the Red Lake, while the elyrians could keep the eastern coastal cities and the central swamps. Both sides presented the end of this conflict as a great victory. Platinum had gained control of the strait, recovered the old elanxan cities in northern Littlestep and gained enough of a foothold on the continent to keep its holdings safe. For the elyrians, they had not only defended their homeland once again, but they had also gained control of the eastern ports, something they had never ruled over before.

Here is a creature/monster idea I had for Luden:

>Tickeck
Size: 6''-12''
Diet: Carnivore
Origin: Natural
Status: Domesticated
Tickecks are blue hand-sized ticks that thrive in the rotten rat hellscape of Luden. They are usually solitary creatures, but a few areas of Luden have used Tickecks as flavoring in their cheese, farming Tickecks by letting them live on dying ratfolk and harvesting them when they appear full.
While Tickecks can easily be spotted and killed, when they've attached to a host, they grip onto the fur/skin preventing easy removal. The number of diseases and poisons in Luden make them especially dangerous.
Tickecks can survive underwater for an indefinite amount of time, going into a deep hibernation, allowing for prolonged storage. Tickecks are regularly 6'', but when full they can reach up to 1''.
If not harvested the Tickeck's exoskeleton will harden, and become dark-red. In this state a Tickeck will lay hundreds of eggs. Some Ratfolk take to harvesting Tickecks in this stage of development to use the exoskeleton as a surprisingly effective shield.

Many celebrations were held by the elyrians, though they had lost many of their men, and their control over the eastern lands was tenuous at best. These cities were much poorer than their northern or southern neighbors, too far from the main trade lines and too close to the pirates from the Sitrai Martöflu Archipelago. Still, the fact they were sparsely populated helped immensely to the elyrians, as for the time being, they weren’t in any position to actually rule over them. Still, the elyrians may have obtained a victory over Platinum, but they were still dwindling, fighting with the other swamp tribes in a region slowly losing its resources. However, once again the man known as Avangar brought forth a proposition to the different elyrian clans. With his mystical knowledge, he assured they could build a contraption that would turn the swamps into fertile land, allowing for prosperity where once was only want and need. Most of the elyrian elders were skeptical of the claims of Avangar, as if there was such a magic, how come none of them had heard about it until now? But the popularity of Avangar between the people and his demonstrable prowess at wizardry left them no choice but to accept his proposal.
>>
>>89449725
The preparation for the construction would take many years. Avangar researched many areas of the swamps to see where the mysterious edifice in his mind would work the best. He also began talking to the coastal cities, agreeing with them for help to obtain the required materials and seeking any wizards in them to come invited to the marshes, since even with his prowess, he needed help preparing the necessary incantations. Once the preparations were complete, he began building the Tower of the Eternal Fire. Its actual construction took less than a year, between 2.945 and 2.946 ABE. A structure of tremendous size and height, at the top of it a magical flame was summoned. Slowly but surely, over a period of a couple of years, the lands around it began drying up, with the marshes being replaced by lush and healthy forest. The dying fauna quickly recovered, and not only that, but the fire also managed to create the perfect conditions for agriculture, something that had rarely been tried before by the swamp tribes. Many elders feared that the magical heat would quickly unravel or spike out of control, drying the land into a scorching desert, but somehow the warmth was evenly distributed throughout the land, only really weakening during winter to allow for the needed rains. The success of the tower managed to convince the remaining non-elyrian swamp tribes to submit to the elyrians, seeking to enjoy the prosperity of the magic brought by Avangar. This would culminate in Avangar being chosen as the one true leader of the elyrians in 2.957 ABE, originating the Avangar Empire. He located his capital in the city of Alga, the population that had grown around the Tower of Eternal Fire.
>>
Also, I have an issue with the lore of Avangar, particularly in regards to its relation with the Woodcutter cities. According to the Avangar wiki page:

>The woodcutter cities of the west recognized the might of Avangar and offered themselves as tributaries
>The cities to the east, near the Red Lake pay tribute to Avangar, having adopted their religion. Avangar competes with the Platinum Princedom and the Orange Marquisates for control over the rest of the cities, dedicating a lot of money and manpower.

There are a couple of details here that don't add up.

>Adopting their religion.
I get the cities paying tribute as ransom, but adopting the avangar faith? This is weird since Avangar treats non-elyrians as second class citizens at best. Why would anyone outside of the Avangar empire worship their faith?

>dedicating a lot of money and manpower.
To do what? It feels incomplete

>The woodcutter cities of the west recognized the might of Avangar and offered themselves as tributaries,
Considering that one of the key aspects of the woodcutter cities is that they are fiercely independent, why would they do this? Again, tribute to avoid attack is one thing, but the writeup implies that they willingly went along with Avangar, which makes no sense.

Meanwhile, the growth of the Gnoll Empire was stabilizing. After the rise of the Nameless to the throne, the Gnoll Empire had begun to consolidate in their newly acquired territories, abandoning those that were considered difficult to control, and instead, began organizing their internal affairs. While very few outside the empire actually knew what that entailed, there was a sense of nervous relief all around Southeastern Giantstep. The apocalyptic threat that had nearly swallowed the region was still for now, and there was time to recover and plan for the future. Many even believed that the gnoll retreating inwards was a sign that their empire was crumbling, and hope that the horrid gnoll would eat each other to oblivion was beginning to grow in the region. This feeling was particularly strong in the only power left more or less intact in the region: the Ketlovian Kingdom. Ever since the ketlovians had managed to free themselves from servitude to the khenomeric, they had managed to grow their holdings back to the size of what they controlled in ancient times. This had caused a great feeling of pride to grow within the ketlovians, seeing that their golden age was just around the corner. Even when the population was cursed into lycanthropy, it didn’t cause any loss of sense of self, keeping their control over their transformation, unlike many other forms of lycanthropy in the world. This sense of pride and newfound strength made them begin to argue that, should any united campaign against the gnoll be organized, they should be the one to spearhead it. And why not? The Khenomeri were gone. Nogar was a wreck, still in turmoil after the loss of more than half of their territory. Drunigzar was growing, but it still was just a trading nation with little military power to speak of. The city-states of Voita and Malagsh were doomed in their war against the cursed forest, and they would probably perish to it sooner than to the gnolls.
>>
>>89455482
The growing discourse of war against the Gnoll was worrying the ketlovian king, Ivan XVII van Thraca. He knew how dangerous the gnoll truly were, since the few skirmishes with them at the border had proven they were not the mindless beast of yore, but an effective, if blunt, fighting force. And yet, despite his warnings, a series of ketlovian nobles organized behind his back to attack a series of cities captured by the gnolls in the Brownshore Coast. The attack itself was a quick skirmish, consisting mostly of cavalry units that were able to burn down the already damaged cities of the coast and come back more or less intact. More of a show than an actual military campaign, this event caused the Gnoll Empire to pay more attention to the ketlovians. Despite the detention of the nobles for launching an attack without the permission of the king, the border skirmishes increased, and Ivan XVII feared that a war would swallow the kingdom. Seeking to establish some way to stop the war, he managed to enter into direct contact with the Nameless, even offering the hand of one of his daughters in marriages with the hope of keeping themselves in the good graces of the gnoll. The Nameless himself responded in person, going to the ketlovian capital of Corium. He acted in a civilized way, following to the letter all social customs of the ketlovians, surprising everyone in court, before presenting his demands for peace. The first was easy to give, the heads of the nobles that launched the attack, a reasonable request in the eyes of most. The second one caused great shock in the court: the hand in marriage of all the daughters the ketlovian king. Ivan XVII was shocked and appalled, and it spent many years trying to renegotiate the offer, but in the end, he had little choice but to acquiesce to the desires of the emperor for the sake of his country.
>>
>>89455495
The wedding ceremony was set to happen during the end year celebrations of 2.863 ABE, in the capital of Corium. The city was decorated with as much luxury as possible for the occasion, with each street filled with the names of each of the brides and with the emblem of the ketlovian royal house. Each of the brides was wearing dresses confectioned by some of the most talented tailors in the world, who had been brought to Ketlovia specifically for the job, and were also displaying brilliant jewels and gemstones. The Nameless himself went accompanied by his most accomplished war commanders, wearing immaculate khenomeric regalia, which took many by surprise. The final celebration, as per ketlovian traditions, was in the Royal Dance Hall, a marvel of architecture within the capital of Ketlovia that was considered by many as one of the wonders of the world. Tensions were high for both parties, but both King Ivan and the Nameless seemed undisturbed, keeping an image of royalty for the entire duration of the night. It seemed like the ceremony would go without a hitch, and the hopes for peace between the two nations looked bright.
>>
>>89455511
What happened next is open to speculation. Many historians discuss the events of the “Last Dance” to this day, as the testimonies of the few witnesses are murky and with many holes in the story. What many coincide with is that, a fight between one of the gnoll envoys and a ketlovian noble somehow spiraled into a sea of violence. The Nameless ordered everyone in the room to be put to the sword, with all 112 brides being the first ones to die (though some accounts tell that the Nameless ordered their deaths to be painless, and seeing as their bodies were recovered by the ketlovian retinue, beheaded but without any further desecration, it gives weight to the story). Once the king Ivan saw what was happening to his daughters, he flew into a bloodthirsty rage and jumped straight towards the Nameless. King Ivan XVII van Thraca was a hulking werewolf, taller than even the average troll, and with the strength to match, a size even more striking when compared to the Nameless, who many have described as slightly shorter than the average gnoll. However, the magical prowess of the Nameless meant that the werewolf king was but a nuisance to the Gnoll Emperor, who left it barely alive before his retinue rescued him and brought him to a safer place, all while the forces of the gnoll razed the capital to cinders. Once the king woke up, he was in a safe castle, far from the armies of the Nameless. Making a blood oath of eternal hatred against the gnoll and against the Nameless in particular, he swore that he would kill the gnoll emperor like the animal he was.
>>
>>89455539
Thus began the gnoll invasion of the Kingdom of Ketlovia. The war lasted ten years, with some of the bloodiest fighting the world had seen fighting the gnoll. The werewolves were formidable opponents, and King Ivan was determined to make the gnolls pay. However, it would be all for naught, as the ketlovians were fighting alone against the entirety of the Gnoll Empire, with no other nation willing to start a fight against the empire. On their part, the gnoll were able to focus their full strength on a single front, sending hundreds of thousands of gnolls in waves against the ketlovians. And these were not the gnolls of yore, they were better trained, led and armed, capable of planning a complex military campaign. It is a testament to the werewolves’ strength and resolved they managed to last a decade against such an enemy, but the outcome of the war was clear from the start. After the gnoll conquered the entirety of the Ivory Peninsula, many expected a final confrontation in the now heavily fortified capital of Corium, to the east of the peninsula. However, before the werewolf king could have his final battle against his hated foe, the Nameless publicly declared that he wanted the war to end. The Gnoll Emperor declared that he forgave the ignominies committed against his person, having mercy on the old werewolf king, and allowing the remaining ketlovians to live freely if they submitted as vassals. Many ketlovians decided to accept the deal, forming what is now known as the Ketlovian Slavestate, whereas many ketlovians who did not want to serve the gnoll took refuge in the eastern province of Setlovia. The tensions between Ketlovia and Setlovia caused the latter to secede, forming the Setlovian Freestate, a center of resistance against the gnoll, protected by the Runaan Ashlands and the barren lands of the Vodyanik.

While the rest of the Southeastern Giantstep was still in shock, the Kingdom of Drunigzar continued its economic growth. Due to the huge gap left in the southeast, drunig traders managed to quickly take advantage of the situation, easily growing in power and influence. The growing rate of the merchant fleet attracted more attention from pirates, and thus the crown invested greatly in a modern navy, to keep bandits at bay. Drunigzar quickly became the biggest power at sea in the southeast, rivalling even the nations to the north like Elanxa or Platinum. While these nations saw the rise of Drunigzar with distrust, in reality, they had bigger fish to fry, as the constant fights in Zemyland and Littlestep meant that they couldn’t really do anything about it. Plus, Drunigzar’s expansion was based on trade, instead of territorial conquest, so they didn’t see it as much of a threat to their interests. The growing masses of Drunigzar, however, were becoming a problem quickly. The lands of Drunigzar were well known to be very barren, not capable of producing the growing demand of foodstuffs needed. And importing growing amounts of food was a very unpalatable thing for the nation, as any interruption of their supply would mean immediate starvation. The attempts of Jus I to produce more food were set to bear fruit in the distant future, and they needed to find a solution as soon as possible.
>>
>>89456552
It would be the king Paolos III who would find the apparent answer to this conundrum. Drunigzar needed to expand, but it would need to do so in a way that would not upset its neighbors and trading partners. The solution was colonial expansion to the south. Creating small trading outposts throughout the south, used both to settle population, to find new resources and to get in contact with new markets all at once. For this, they could use their massive navy to their advantage, though offensive war was out of the question. However, this project needed decades of preparation before even beginning. The crown needed to gather resources, capital, information, capable personnel, volunteers… as well as to create the different organizations that would manage these colonial projects. The protests from within were plenty, as many saw it as a project of self-aggrandizement, but the successful creation of the drunig colony of Novo Porto in 2.942 ABE silenced most of those. Even Nogar’s complaints were not enough to slow down the project, using an unclaimed strip of land to settle in Novo Porto so that they could not accuse Drunigzar of occupying foreign soil. The most controversial thing needed for this project, however, was the alliance between Drunigzar and the Gnoll Empire, something that shocked all the human nations of the east. Since Drunigzar’s efforts went towards the expansion overseas, the mainland was left relatively defenseless, and if the Gnoll Empire ever decided to end their conquest of the southeast, they would not be able to defend themselves. The alliance between Paolos III and the Nameless caused plenty of tensions, such as the incident with the Kingdom of Otamlar, though generally the drunig have profited greatly from this deal.

> OG Ketlovia Lore:
Gnolls are an unreasonable ever expanding force. Ketlovia and the Gnolls are at war. In desperation Ketlovia tries to negotiate peace offering the King's daughters in marriage.

Gnoll Emperor accepts trying to raise prestige of his nation. Gnolls don't reoroduce sexually, they reproduce via maggotgnoll. As such he does just that being the lcosest equivalent to marriage a Gnoll has.

Krtlovian King goes mad. Tries to continue war with Gnolls, but the Emperor just leaves Ketlovias be honouring the fulfilled 'peacedeal'. The dancehall once a site of the blessing that birtherd the Ketlovian nation is now a cursed abbandoned place.

KINO

> Nu-Ketlovia lore
So the Gnolls after centuries existing stopped expanding until centuries ago the Ketlovians did a silly and attacked them.

Then the peace was negotiated and the Gnoll emperor slaughtered all the daughters and nobles because it was funny and only then a war between Gnolls and ketlovians started.

Also btw. we retconned Ketlovians to live super long so the retconned timeline makes some sense. Due to werewolf powers or something.

Also the King was the biggest strongest werewolf of all.

> I don't get why you people are rewriting lore to be objectively worse when a well written and more coherent verssion already sits there
>>
>>89465173
I'm open for rewriting stuff, but it needs to fit with the timeline. Since the war between the ketlovians and the gnoll happens after the takeover of the Nameless, and the new gnoll emperor is much more cold and calculating than the previous one, I tried another approach for the war.

>Gnoll Emperor accepts trying to raise prestige of his nation. Gnolls don't reoroduce sexually, they reproduce via maggotgnoll. As such he does just that being the lcosest equivalent to marriage a Gnoll has.
You mean he killed the daughters to use them as food for the maggotgnolls? That could work well, actually.

>Ketlovian King goes mad. Tries to continue war with Gnolls, but the Emperor just leaves Ketlovias be honouring the fulfilled 'peacedeal'.
I mean, sure.

>Also the King was the biggest strongest werewolf of all.
This doesn't contradict anything.

>We retconned Ketlovians to live super long so the retconned timeline makes some sense. Due to werewolf powers or something.
Why not? Living slightly longer would help fitting everything with the timeline.

>Liquefier Troll

Size: Large
Diet: Carnivore
Origin: Natural
Status: Wild

Unless you’ve grown up around Saurials to such an extent that it fucks up your thinking, you likely think ‘humanoid’ when you hear ‘troll’.

Not these guys.

They’re big, shaggy, and mean, just like common troll varieties, but these guys have more in common with Great Carvers or Tyrannosauruses. Even then, the comparisons end at ‘dinosaur’. Standing a bit like a sloth trying its hand at bipedalism while suffering from a severe case of arthritis, it’s a shaggy, squamous lizard with arms and claws the size of tree trunks.

Speaking of tree trunks, the closest thing to these guys are giant herbivorous browsers with similar claws, but those claws are meant to rip at bark for a beak to bite at the trees they fuck up with those claws. *Those* guys don’t have serrated, wave-like claws pumped through with venom.

If you’ve seen giant spiders eat, the principal is much the same: pumping biological acid through newly-made holes until their meal is a dissolved mass. The giant claws are to chop up what wasn’t dissolved in time, or make even bigger holes to spread that gooey, melty deliciousness around. Oh, and defend itself. Not that it really needs to.

Anyone who’s fought their more herbivorous cousins will notice Liquefier Trolls lack the beaks or teeth of their dinosaur kin, or even any kind of regular teeth like actual trolls.

Instead, those who’ve spent time around sailors note that their mouths look like it’s filled with balleen, and their heads look like a whale wanted to be a dinosaur for a day.

It sifts out bone, clothing, armour, the amulet of your dead mother that you’ve now joined in the afterlife, et cetera, so it can slurp up the gooey goodness.

It won’t stop a sufficiently pissed one from stuffing you in their mouth after it figures you’re mostly liquefied, though.

Ok, I've been thinking a way to rewrite the events to make it closer to the original text. Would this work?

>The Nameless stops the massive campaigns in all fronts, but skirmishes still happen all around.
>The skirmishes are particularly violent near the borders of Ketlovia, many nobles urge the king to seek a way to prevent the war permanently.
>The Ketlovian King and the Gnoll Emperor pact a peace, that would protect the ketlovian kingdom in exchange for the king's daughters as brides.
>The pact is sealed and the wedding happens.
>At the height of the ceremony, the nameless orders the brides' deaths, to create the next generation of great gnoll. Something akin to "as it's the duty of the queen to bring a strong heir to the throne, so is my beloved queens' duties to die so the next generation grows stronger", that kind of thing.
>The ketlovian king sees this and becomes enraged. The king and the emperor fight, and the king is left nearly dead.
>War between the gnoll and ketlovia. The ketlovians are beaten badly.
>Just when it looks like the ketlovians are going to be erased from the map in a final battle, the nameless stops the fighting.
>The emperor declares "in the name of my beloved queens, I will respect the terms of the treaty. Ketlovia will survive under my protection" or something like that.
>The ketlovian king becomes mad due to the loss and the humiliation, but has to accept in order to protect the remaining ketlovians. Ketlovia becomes the Ketlovian Slavestate.
>Those who do not accept the deal move to the province of Setlovia and secede. The Setlovia Freestate is born.

Many even believed that the gnoll retreating inwards was a sign that their empire was crumbling, and hope that the horrid gnoll would eat each other to oblivion was beginning to grow in the region. However, not all was well. The borders had become frequent sites of raids and skirmishes between the locals and the gnoll. While nothing like the apocalyptic sea of violence of a true gnoll invasion, these attacks greatly worried all neighboring nations. This feeling was particularly strong in the only power left more or less intact in the region: the Ketlovian Kingdom. Ever since the ketlovians had managed to free themselves from servitude to the khenomeric, they had managed to grow their holdings back to the size of what they controlled in ancient times, and not even the curse of lycanthropy had managed to deter them from reclaiming their lost power. However, the growing rate of skirmishes at the border meant that there was a lot of uncertainty within the nation. Despite the fact that the gnoll had not attacked Ketlovia thus far, the ketlovians had received enough fleeing refugees to know the horrors caused by these monsters, and none but the most detached wanted to fight them.
>>
>>89468817
The growing discourse about the threat of the gnolls was worrying the ketlovian king, Ivan XVII van Thraca. He knew how dangerous the gnoll truly were, since the few skirmishes with them at the border had proven they were not the mindless beast of yore, but an effective, if blunt, fighting force. Many of his advisors recommended reinforcing the border with massive walls and fortifications, as the nogarese had done. However, the king decided to try the diplomatic approach, to the surprise of many. King Ivan had seen the change within the gnoll after the rise of this new gnoll emperor. Unlike the previous emperor, the Nameless seemed to be more composed and collected, even “civilized”, as much as any gnoll can be anyway. Seeking to establish some way to stop the war, he managed to enter into direct contact with the Nameless, seeking to find a way to protect Ketlovia from what it seemed like an imminent invasion. King Ivan invited the Nameless to the capital of Corium, to open diplomatic relations and establish something akin to an alliance. Once in the capital, he acted in a civilized way, following to the letter all social customs of the ketlovians, surprising everyone in court. The discussions lasted for years, but eventually a compact was form. As a way to seal the treaty, the Nameless would marry the 112 daughters of King Ivan.

What happened next is open to speculation. Many historians discuss the events of the “Last Dance” to this day, as the testimonies of the few witnesses are murky and with many holes in the story. What many coincide with is that, after the initial dance, the Nameless requested a moment alone with his brides. After hours passed with no news about the events inside the ballroom, a young maiden tried to sneak in due to curiosity, only to scream horrifically after what she had seen there. When King Ivan and his retinue forced their way into the ballroom, they found a grizzly scene: All 112 brides had been ritualistically decapitated, their blood covering the entire ballroom. All over their bodies, shinning maggotgnolls were eating the remains of fresh flesh from the princesses, all while ogre priests and undead gnoll chanted litanies to the Maw. The Nameless justified this as the “duty of the empresses”, to bring forth the next generation of gnoll, in the same way a queen’s duty is to bring to the world the heirs to the throne. While he was accused of being a bloodthirsty monster, he said that their death had been painless, and that the sacrifice of his brides was necessary for the future, since thanks to them, the ketlovians would be safe and free to prosper. Losing any composure left, and mad with grief and rage, he flew into a bloodthirsty rage and jumped straight towards the Nameless. King Ivan XVII van Thraca was a hulking werewolf, taller than even the average troll, and with the strength to match, a size even more striking when compared to the Nameless, who many have described as slightly shorter than the average gnoll.
