Hello one and all, and welcome to Dangan Ronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Quest. A quest inspired by the incredibly weeaboo series Dangan Ronpa. You like killing games like Battle Royale? You like Murder Mysteries? You just might enjoy this quest! (I make no guarantees though.) This quest is set at the prestigious Yggdrasil Academy International, where a mysterious set of circumstances unfold. This'll be the first session on /qst/.

Yggdrasil Academy is a prestigious boarding school catering to a specific set of secondary school students gathered from four countries: The United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and the United States. There are two main entry requirements for this academy. One, students must already be attending secondary school, and be at least 16 years of age. Two, students must be the absolute best at a specific talent out of the combined student body of the four countries listed above. There is no way to apply to Yggdrasil Academy. The only way in is for the school itself to scout you. Because all students attending the academy have something they specifically are the absolute best at, they are referred to by a specific title.

Omegas.

As they're the complete end-point when it comes to students in pursuit of that talent, it's only fitting to call these end-points of talent Omegas. After all, there's no surpassing an Omega.

Our Protagonist, Zachary Lineman, is the Omega Actor. Having spent the last three days together with his fellow class of Omegas under the watchful under the mysterious teddy bear known as Monokuma, Zachary has gotten to know his fellow students a bit better.

IT'S BACK AND TIME.

DAY 4: BEGIN

Your eyes slowly open and you roll out of bed, an alarm clock embedded in the side of the wall telling you it's 7 AM. Funny, that wasn't there before. Is Monokuma making alterations? You wash, dress, and step outside into the Dorm Corridor. Everyone usually meets up for breakfast around this time, so most of them are probably already in the dining hall. However, you spot Cassandra leaning against the wall with her arms folded. She's not wearing her usual pink newsboy cap. You notice that with her hat off, a forelock of hair from her fringe sticks straight up. She seems to be deep in thought.

What do you do?

You walk over to her and clear your throat. "Problem, Cassie?"

Her head swivels to face you, an expression of discomfort on her face. "I lost my hat."

You point to her decidedly hatless head. "I noticed. Need any help looking for it?"

She shakes her head. "No, I know where it is. I think I dropped it in the courtyard, but... Well, on second thought, maybe you could help. Can you come with me to get it?"

You hastily scribble a note and tack it to Juliet's door. If she's already at breakfast, she'll see it when she comes back to her dorm room. "Right-o then Cass. Lead the way."

The two of you leave together, heading through the hallway to the central courtyard. As Cassandra opens the double doors, she stops short and you bump into her. "What gives?"

She remains silent and unmoving as you crane your neck around her to get a look at... Oh, well there's her hat, it's on the ground over by that tree. The one with someone leaning against it... Wait, what's that red stuff?

You realize with a start that you're looking at Quentin. And his torso is covered in blood, along with the surrounding area. The blood splatter stops just short of Cassandra's hat.

"Hey Cass, did you do this?"

Cassandra just gives the slightest shake of her head, remaining silent. An oddly neutral expression is written across her face. You'd expect someone seeing a scene like this would be a lot more shocked. "Fair enough. HEY EVERYONE! GET OVER HERE! DOUBLE TIME IT!"

You've played plenty of stage shows without being wired for sound, and you've learnt how to project your voice quite well. You now channel that technique into a booming yell that carries in the direction of the dining hall, where everyone should be. It isn't long before Juliet bursts through the double doors, followed by everyone else. They all notice Quentin at the same time, everyone wearing the same look of shock and horror on their faces. Cameron gags and claps a hand over his mouth, trying not to vomit. Rosalina rushes over to Quentin and puts two fingers to his neck. "There's no pulse. He's dead."

The horror on everyone's faces seems to amplify. Juliet clicks her tongue in frustration. "Dammit! How did this happen?"

Yo Omega Narrator.
I notice how you specifically described Cassandra as having an ahoge without her hat on.

>However, you spot Cassandra leaning against the wall with her arms folded.
>She's not wearing her usual pink newsboy cap.
>You notice that with her hat off, a forelock of hair from her fringe sticks straight up.

>a forelock of hair from her fringe sticks straight up

Does this have any significance? I think that since you described it explicitly like an ahoge, I kinda get the impression that it does.

Everyone, (save Cassandra, who's face is a blank mask, and Juliet, who's looking angrily at Quentin's corpse), has an expression somewhere between disgust, shock, and horror on their faces. You, like Juliet, give the body a glance. It's in a standing position, leaning against the tree. It must be propped up with something. Quentin's torso is covered in blood, and you can see a handle sticking out of his stomach. The surrounding ground is covered in blood, with Cassandra's hat lying only a few millimeters away from the splatter. Looking closely, you can see something tiny and white lying near the hat. There's nothing particularly suspicious about the surrounding area, just trees, bushes, lamps, and benches. Turning away from the scene, you ask the assembled students. "Does anyone here have the know-how to perform an autopsy?"

Some look at you quizzically, others just flat out say no, but it's clear that no one here has the skill to perform an autopsy on the body. "Well, fat lot of good that does us. Anyway, MONOKUMA, GET YOUR BLACK AND WHITE ASS OUT HERE! YOU'RE LATE!"

The monochrome-patterned bear pokes his head out from a nearby bush. "Geez, you're loud! Whaddya want!?"

"Hey, I'll have you know I've been watching my weight recently! I even started doing Tai Chi!"

"No one cares. Anyway, how long until the trial? What do we do in the meantime?"

"Oh, you're always so sharp, Zach! You've got until I get bored to do all your investigating, so you better hurry! How you do it is up to you, but don't screw up, or you'll be on the chopping block! But I'm not just gonna leave you high and dry, Zach old buddy, so here!"

He waddles out of the bush carrying a stack of digital tablets, and passes them out to everyone. "This is my super special handy dandy Monokuma File! It's got all sorts of nice info on the case! Be sure to give it a read before the trial! And with that, I'm off!"

Monokuma dives back into the bush, only to pop his head out again. "One last thing. I should have done this already, but I was asleep, y'know? So..."

He clicks his fingers (How does he do that with those paws?) And an announcement plays on the speaker system. "A body has been discovered! After a certain amount of time, which you may use however you like, the class trial will begin!"

Monokuma waves his paw before popping back into his bush, leaving everyone dumbfounded. Anyway, something caught your attention earlier, and you decide to investigate it. Heading back over to the crime scene, you take a closer look at the small white thing you noticed earlier, near the blood splatter. Upon closeup inspection, it looks like... A pair of teeth? Odd. You also take a look at Cassandra's cap as you pick it up, dust it off, and hand it to her. It doesn't seem like there's anything notable about it. The blood splatter didn't hit it, so it's mostly clean. She thanks you, her eyes still locked onto Quentin's body. You hear her whisper something, almost inaudible.

"He deserved it."

"What do you mean by that?"

She whips her head around and stares at you in surprise. It seems she didn't realize you could hear her. After a few seconds of silence, she simply says "Nothing. It's nothing."

"So when and how did you lose your hat?"

"Last night. Remember how I left you three back in the dining hall? I just passed through here on my way to the dorms. I probably lost it then."

Her explanation makes sense. She did head to the courtyard from the dining hall last night after she got angry at the three of you, but why didn't she just head straight to the dorms? Also, didn't Quentin head out to try and calm her down? She didn't mention running into him. While mulling this over, you head over to Juliet to discuss what to do next. "What's the plan, sir?"

She nods grimly at you. "First, we secure the scene. Steven and I shall remain here, on guard duty, to ensure no tampering from the criminal. As my most trustworthy officer, you, Lt. Lineman, shall be leading the investigation. Proceed at your own discretion."

All right, I will proceed with this list in order, over the course of several
>Check Quentin's body, examine mouth for holes if teeth broke off, examine the embedded object in his chest

You head over to Quentin's body, and give it a good once-over. He's up against the tree, as if he was killed leaning against it. For some reason, he's not slumped over or in a sitting position. That reason being what you assume is a knife embedded in his stomach, pinning him to the tree. Melissa confirms that it's one of the knives from the kitchen, judging from the handle. Next you turn to his mouth, checking to see if his teeth are all there. Surprise surprise, two are missing, and from what you can tell, his jawbone is fractured. Looks like something hit him there, hard.

>stabbed so hard it impaled him to the tree THROUGH HIS BODY
>hit hard enough his jaw fractured and two teeth were punched out
But the question is, which one came first? The impale or the punch-out?
>>
>>131731
Here's a theory: Quentin tried to do something untoward to Cassandra. She popped him in the mouth, knocking out his teeth(And maybe even knocking him out) and legged it, losing her hat at some point in the process. The Blackened then came by, did in Quentin, and put Cassandra's hat at the scene to frame her.

>And the Cook Omega
She'd have access to the blades, and from previous info. She's physco asf. And also cooks are known for carrying heavy things. But you know what strikes me? How cooks are often used as a phrase for the insane. And the insane are often found to do idiotic things, like murder. AND IT COMES FULL CIRCLE! Shes physco as fuck, and a cook. With her strength, he'd be able to kill with precision.
>>
>>131731
Over the course of several posts...

Anyway.

>Investigate the "hat blood splatter lead"
You check the location where the hat was positioned. You know for a fact that the hat was clean, but the blood splatter was awfully close. Would it be possible for the splatter to have missed the hat? You don't know. You ask Lucas, after all, he must be used to paint splatter, but honestly it's too close to call. Still, something may pop up later on, so you commit the info about the hat to memory.
>>

You head over to Cassandra and ask her once more about what she said. "Drop it Zachary. I'm not going to talk to you about it." She turns and walks off in the direction of the dorms, leaving your investigation at a dead end. Well there's no helping it, guess you're just going to have to bring it up at the trial.

You give the whole place a wide search, enlisting the others to help. After a few minutes of fruitless searching, Francine and Alice both run up to you at the same time, grab both of your arms between them, and march you over to a nearby bench. It's one of those benches made out of planks of wood with large gaps between them, to save on materials. It doesn't look very comfortable. Francine points to the underside of the bench. "We found something under there. Take a look." You get down low and shove your head into the space between the bench and the ground. After a thorough glancing, you notice that a word is scrawled upside down on the underside of one of the planks.

Feather.

It seems to have been written in blood, and it looks like it was smeared across the bench with a finger. You thank the two girls and move down your investigation list.

Looks to be one of the biggest ones, too. You give the area another glance and notice something glint at you from the sink. Upon further inspection, you see that it's a small metal skewer, for serving kebabs and such. It looks a lot more clean than the other skewers in the kitchen. Was it washed recently?

Where before there was a fountain in front of the academy, there is now a circle of... The only thing you can compare them to are witness stands in some of the courtroom dramas you've acted in. There are 16, and one of them has a monochrome picture of Quentin on a stand behind it. The picture is covered by a red X. Monokuma motions the rest of you to your respective stands as he hops up onto a throne situated a short distance from the circle. He slams his gavel down, and Trial is now in Session.

Ladies and Gentlemen, from this point on, the floor is yours. The trial shall proceed in a series of Open Debates as you get closer and closer to the truth. If you want to say something, whether to point out a flaw in someone's testimony, bring up a theory, ask leading questions, check for reactions, or just respond to the debate with your own take on what's being discussed, just say it! You get to start things off with an Opening Statement, discussing whatever you like, and from there, try to keep up momentum! You may face opposition but don't be discouraged!

Of course, if you fail to solve this case, and have everyone vote for the killer, you'll end up dead. Good luck!

What Is Your Opening Statement?
>>
>>132178
If we should go over the events everyone knows.

At just before 10:30 PM Quentin was murdered, he died of a stab to the stomach after being hit with blunt force to the jaw, knocking out two teeth, we should established what was used to kill him as a fist step
>>
>>132178
Give a monologue about how much you loved Quentin.
>>
>>132178
we should start by ruling out the obvious, that is, define the murder weapon.
from there we can start ruling out suspects as we check alibies.
>>
>>132195
But what if he was stabbed first THEN punched?
>>
>>132218
possible but over all irrelevant so far to what we know, but we'll see as time goes on

>>132195

I'll back these.

"Guys if we don't figure out who did this, we're all fucked. Well, all but one of us, and I wouldn't gamble on that person lasting too long afterwards even then."
>>
>>132223
Don't discount the fact that red herrings are a thing.
This is Danganronpa, after all.
>>
>>132178
Whatever we do, we shouldn't forget to put on a smooth lawyer persona while doing so.

Zachary: "Okay guys, if we don't figure out who did this, we're all fucked. Well, all but one of us, and I wouldn't gamble on that person lasting too long afterwards even then. So let's crack this. To start, let's talk about the basics. Quentin died from being stabbed in the stomach. So let's talk about what was used to kill him."

Edward: "It was a knife, right? You could see the handle sticking out of his stomach."

Steven: "Yeah, he got stabbed so hard he was stuck to the goddamn tree."

Neville: "That's complete and total overkill."

Francine: "So he was killed right there in front of the tree right? He was leaning against it, and the murderer stabbed him with the knife, pinning him to the tree."

Lucas: "Well maybe that's a bit much to assume, but it's clearly a sure thing that the knife's the murder weapon. What's next on the agenda?"
>>
>>132311
Seconding this, let's channel some Atticus Fucking Finch.
>>
>>132334
HOLD IT!

Present the washed skewer.
>>
>>132334
Weak point: Lucas "the knife is the murder weapon"
Counter with Monokuma File, which says the initial wound was smaller than the size of the knife
>>
>>132334
>Francine: "So he was killed right there in front of the tree right? He was leaning against it, and the murderer stabbed him with the knife, pinning him to the tree."
THAT'S NOT RIGHT! There was the message under the bench written in blood
>>
>>132334
Stick your hand out and shape it like a gun, then throw the

>Monokuma File

at Lucas while making a *bang* noise.
>>
>>132334
everybody is rushing to point out a plothole, when the only hole that needs pointing is Quentins murder wound. point out the washed skewer and use it to present that with the monokuma file, as the wound was smaller at first.
>>
>>132349
>>132357
>>132371
>>132384
Zachary: "Hold on a minute. The knife was definitely lodged in his stomach, but that doesn't automatically make it the murder weapon."

Becky: "Whaaaaaaat? How does that make sense? Of course it's the murder weapon! You can't survive something like that getting shoved into your stomach!"

Zachary: Maybe so, but the Monokuma File described his wound as being smaller in diameter at first!

Rosalina: "So they just stabbed the tip in first, then when they realized it wasn't enough, shoved the knife the whole way through. Stop wasting time!"

Zachary: "That's pretty flimsy, especially as I found a Washed Skewer in the kitchen sink! It's much smaller in diameter than the knife, wouldn't you say?"

Cameron: "So he was stabbed with the skewer... And then with the knife? But why leave the knife in the wound and go wash the skewer?"

Zachary: "Because the knife was just a cover up! He was stabbed first with the skewer, and then, after he was already dead, the killer stabbed him with the knife! The killer then went and cleaned the skewer to hide the evidence!"

Juliet: "Well done, Lt. Lineman. That line of reasoning makes perfect sense! So I think we can all agree that the murder weapon was the skewer, not the knife! What next?"

(By the way, I just realized /qst/ has colored text formatting, so if this test works, I may be able to present green weak points in the dialogue. Would you guys want that instead of the lack weak spot highlighting used so far?)

Green be absorb points

Zachary: "So, we should examine the time of death a little more closely."

Alice: "The time of death?"

Zachary: "According to the Monokuma File he was killed at 10:30 PM. Now everyone here agrees that they were already in their dorm room by that time, right?"

Rosalina: "Yep!"

Becky: "Uhuh!"

Francine: "Yes."

Juliet. "Affirmative."

Zachary: "You see the problem, here, right?"

Neville: "One of us is lying, and they're the killer. But more importantly, if only one of us is lying, and the rest of us are telling the truth..."

Steven: "What is it? Spit it out, goddammit!"

Melissa: "No one here has an alibi for 10:30 PM."

Zachary: "Which means anyone could have done it. But now, more importantly, what was Quentin doing? He should have headed to bed like the rest of us, so what was he doing in the courtyard half an hour later?"

Lucas: "Maybe he just wanted to sit and meditate for a while?"

Eddie: "Or he got himself a snack and ate it there in the courtyard?"

Neville: "The killer delayed him, of course."

Edward: "Was he looking for someone?"

Juliet: "Without special circumstances, not reporting to your dorm room by the appropriate time is unacceptable!"

Juliet: "Yes, you and I were both in the dining hall when Quentin left in pursuit of Cassandra."

Cassandra: "So what? I guess he just missed me."

Cassandra: "Yeah, but that has nothing to do with it. Like I said, I didn't see Quentin that night."

Georgina: "It's true, I saw Cassandra talking to Quentin last night while I was on my way to the dorms. It was a little after 10 PM, probably 10:05?"

Cassandra: "Grkh!"

Zachary: "So you were definitely talking to the victim shortly before his murder! What do you have to say to that?"

Cassandra: "I didn't kill him."

Neville: "Anyone can say that they didn't do it. It means nothing."

Juliet: "If you didn't kill him, then provide an account of how your conversation went."

Cassandra: "All right."

Cassandra: "I had just left the dining hall."

Cassandra: "I was going to go sit and cool off, and Quentin stopped me."

Zachary: "Oh really? You Lost Your Hat at the scene, Cass. How did that happen?"

Cassanda. "It's unrelated! It, uhhh, happened as I was leaving, that's all!"

Zachary: "I'm pretty sure Quentin would have noticed you dropping your hat, and point that out to you. So something else must have happened."

Cassandra: "I... Uh..."

Zachary: "Cass, you told me you didn't do it, and I believe you. But something happened last night, when you were with the victim. And it involves Quentin's Jaw and Teeth, right?"

Cassandra: "I..."

Edward: "His Jaw and Teeth?"

Zachary: "His Jaw was fractured and he was missing two teeth. Probably because of blunt force trauma to the face, right Cass?"

Cassandra: "That's right. I hit him. I punched him right in the jaw. That's what caused the fracture."

Georgina: "Why? Why'd you hit him?"

Cassandra: "At first, Quentin just wanted to talk, about the message Zach played, and about the possibility of a traitor. He knew I was frustrated that Juliet and Zach weren't taking it seriously, and he wanted to make sure I kept my cool. At least, that's what he said."

Cassandra: "But after we talked for a few minutes, he... Grabbed me. He said not to worry, he wasn't gonna hurt me, he just wanted a feel or two. I managed to break free and punch him right in the jaw. That's when his teeth came out."

Cassandra: "My hat came off in the struggle, but I didn't pick it up. I just ran to my dorm and locked the door. This morning, I was so scared about going and getting it back, that I asked Zach to come with me to the Courtyard. You all know the rest."

Steven: "That bastard! if he wasn't already dead I'd kill him right now!"

Juliet: "It's a sad tale, but you've still got no alibi. We can't exactly take everything you say at face value."

Neville: "The evidence supports it. If no one has any objections, we should proceed under the assumption that Cassandra's telling the truth."

Zachary: "So that's that cleared up. Next, there's another matter I'd like to bring to the court's attention."
>>
>>132960
Present Dying Message/"Feather"
>>
>>132960
okay that's great, but what are our choices now?
do we talk about the impalement, the message or do we need to clarify anything else?
>>
>>132960
Let's go with where exactly Quentin was killed. Namely, NOT leaned against the tree.
>>
>>132987
Yeah actually, let's focus on that primarily, we'll get to the dying message from there
>>
>>132987
He got punched in the face and our tooth came out...He would be bleeding in the mouth right?

Maybe he went into the kitchen to wash it off?? Or maybe he wanted revenge...
>>
>>133003
No, I believe he died in the courtyard, and specifically that he was attacked while sitting on or standing near the bench his final message was left on.
>>
>>132987
>>132993
Zachary: "So from that, let's talk about where Quentin was killed."

Steven: "Ain't it obvious? He was impaled into the tree by getting stabbed, right? He was killed there!"

Edward: "If you'll recall, we agreed the knife wasn't the murder weapon. So the impalement doesn't count."

Steven: "Oh yeah, so where'd it really happen?"

Becky: "I bet he headed to the dorms, to go after Cassie!"

Eddie: "He probably went to the kitchen to clean himself up!"

Juliet: "What if he was still in the courtyard when the murderer found him?"

Cameron: "He could have headed to the gym or the reception area"

Alice: "Ahhh! This is all just too confusing!"
>>
>>133037
>in the courtyard
The message in blood under he bench. ALso means he was dragged to the tree later

Shit Alice how is any of this hard so far
>>
>>133037
>in the courtyard
The only evidence we've got that speaks to where he died is Dying Message or Upside Down Feather.
>>
>>133037
We didn't find blood anywhere else, or nothing that suggests he dying outside the courtyard. while the killer might have drawn the message as a false clue, it's the only lead we have, so let's present that.
>>
>>133050
>>133055
>>133084
Zachary: "The victim was definitely killed over on the bench!"

Alice: "No way! How can you tell?"

Zachary: "Because his Dying Message was written there, on the underside of the bench!"

Edward: "Dying message?"

Zachary: "That's right, scrawled in blood was the word Feather.

Francine: "So he must have been on the bench!"

Zachary: "That's right, and it's a clear clue to the identity of the killer!"

Well, seeing there's still a thread here, no reason to make a new one. Let's continue!

TRIAL: RESUME

HALFTIME DISENGAGED

Neville: "You say that his Dying Message is a clear hint to the killer, but what does it even mean?"

Alice: "Yeah! I mean, so it says Feather, so what?"

Zachary: "Well..."

Eddie: "It doesn't really make sense. You'd think he'd write down the killer's name if it was his dying message."

Cassandra: "That's because it's not the message you should be looking at."

Becky: "What do you mean?

Cassandra: "I found some new evidence at the scene that hasn't been discussed. Here Zachary, take a look at this."

(Cassandra shows you a scrap of paper with the letters "ED" written on it in blood)

Zachary: "Where'd you get this?"

Cassandra: "You may not have noticed, but Quentin's left hand was closed. When I pried his fingers open, I found this scrap of paper. What do you make of it?"

>>150309
>>150980
Oh wow, these look awesome!
>>
>>151004
Well, if you add it to what we had before, it just makes "feathered"... But if we take Cassandra's advice and just look at this clue, then it's a name: Ed.

(Also thanks man, planning to draw everyone which will take some time for sure)
>>
>>151086
Then that leaves us with Eddie Boyce, the Omega Sprinter and Edward Holt, the Omega Poet.

Also, OP, the thread autosages after three days, so you probably could've made a new thread unless we can finish this part in the remainder.
>>
>>151102
I suppose I could start a new thread and link it here. I just didn't want to make a new thread if I didn't need to.
>>
>>151112
we'll just continue in here until it crashes, then make a new one
>>
>>151086
does anyone wear or uses something with feathers?
otherwise, I'm stuck in a rut right now
>>
>>151086
>>151102
Zachary: "Well the letters on their own don't mean much. Even if we add them to the other message it just makes the word Feathered."

Zachary: "But if we shouldn't be looking at the other Dying Message, then this might actually be a name."

Cameron: "The killer's name..."

Becky: "But no one here is named Ed!"

Zachary: "Actually, there's two people who's names start with Ed. Eddie Boyce and Edward Holt.

Edward: "I'll repeat the fact that I was in my room, but as no one can confirm my alibi, that doesn't mean much."

Eddie: "Me too! I was in my room the whole time! I never left it until morning! Totally definitely! No way was I anywhere else!

Rosalina: "No way! One of you must have been out of your room that night!"

Melissa: "It might not have been for murder. There are lots of reasons to still be out at night."

Becky: "Like a late-night snack!"

Cassandra: It's true. Just being out of your room at the time of death doesn't make you the murderer.
>>
Remind me again what the bolded parts are? They are flashback points, does that mean we can use them as evidence?
>>
>>151344
Yes, you can use them on weak spots just like evidence.
>>
>>151236
It might be worth examining the paper a little closer -- does it look like it was torn somewhere, and if so, where at? Also, judging by the appearance of the letters, specifically capital or lowercase, we can more easily discern what significance it has.
This honestly has me stumped so I'm grasping at straws
>>
okay just throwing shit out there.
we got a late body announcement, so no way to check if we were the first ones to catch the corpse, and the fastest way to get most places is trough the courtyard.
Cassandra has a paper we didn't found for plot reasons, and has been confirmed to be out very close to the murder. who's to say she didn't forge the paper with the note?
I'm guessing somebody used a feather to write the message, and Quint wrote feather because that's all he saw?
>>
>>151236
For some reason, Eddie mentioned the kitchen twice, once about Quentin to get a snack, and another to clean up his injury. How odd.
>>
>>151360
Definitely torn. It's only large enough to fit the two letters. They're both capital letters, and it looks as though the message was written with a finger.

But yeah, the trick here is using flashback spots to flush out new information in the trial. Give it a shot.
>>
>>151236
Hmm this one is a tough one,

Maybe Georginas account on "no one can confirm my alibi", she saw quentin relatively close right before, maybe she can confirm seeing/not seeing other people.
>>
>>151236
>>151454
In that case, perhaps Eddie wasn't in his room all night. Maybe he ran out of protein bars in those cargo pants and headed to the cafeteria to grab some more? Let's try using Becky's comment about late night snacks on Eddie's claim.
>>
>>151236
FINE I'll do it.
We'll get nowhere without making some mistakes
We absorb "Late Night Snack"
And shoot it back at "no one can confirm my alibi"
I mean, we were in the dining room the past thread, right?
>>
>>151540
I agree with this though cause it is the only thing that can make sense.
>>
>>151459
>>151483
Zachary: "Eddie, you wouldn't happen to have been in the kitchen last night, would you?"

Eddie: "Huh? What are you getting at?"

Zachary: "I'm not accusing you of anything. I'm just asking you a question."

Melissa: "He was there."

Zachary: "What?"

Melissa: "I was in the kitchen last night, and so was he. We were cooking together. So we have alibis."

Neville: "Why didn't you mention that in the first place?"

Eddie: "I... Kind of asked her to keep quiet about it. It's my hobby, but I'm not really that good at it, so I keep it a secret. Melissa offered to share some tips, so we were cooking in the dining hall last night."

Juliet: "That's still no excuse for being out at night!"

Cassandra: "But in this case, it could be helpful. How long were you cooking for?"

Eddie: "We started a little after 10 PM, and we were cooking until around 1AM."

Cassandra: "So you two were occupying the kitchen at the time of the murder, and for some time after. This creates a clear contradiction with what we previously established about the murder. Tell them, Zachary."
>>
>>151591
Someone entered the kitchen at some point after the murder, washed the skewer they used to kill Quentin, and then took a knife from the kitchen back to the crime scene. The two of them would have seen this person unless they weren't really in the kitchen... or if one of them was the killer.
>>
>>151611
right
>>
>>151591
With the skewer being the murder weapon, it was brought back to the kitchen. Not just left there, it was actually washed, so noise should have been obvious to anyone in the kitchen at the time. Plus the knife also being taken that was used to be the false murder weapon.
>>
>>151591
Well, we didn't got executed, that's a relief.
Anyway, point out that the murderer took the skewer; which is the murder weapon, back to the kitchen, cleaned it, and took one of the knifes from the block.
Either they were not togheter IN the kitchen (say this while winking and nudging the person next to you), or they were part of the murder.
Either way, there's a motive for lying, ask Melissa to explain herself
>>
>>151611
>>151652
>>151658
Zachary: "If the skewer was taken from the crime scene and swapped with the knife, the killer would have had to have moved to the kitchen to do it. That contradicts what Eddie and Melissa just told us."

Cassandra: "Exactly."

Zachary: "So their testimony doesn't add up!"

Cassandra: "Well, if only one thing can be true, let's check which of them can't be false. The two of you were in the kitchen together the whole time, correct?"

Melissa: "Yes."

Eddie: "Yeah."

Neville: "If one of them's the killer, then clearly there's a motive for lying to us."

Rosalina: "But that only counts for one. The other person has no motive."

Becky: "They could be an accomplice!"

Cassandra: "Speaking of which. Monokuma! If there's an accomplice who helps out the murderer, do they also get to leave?"

Monokuma: "Nope! Only the actual murderer gets to graduate!"

Cassandra: "Well there you have it."

Juliet: "But we only learned about that rule just now! They could have assumed that both of them would graduate!"

Monokuma: "Sheesh! I guess I have to clear this up to make it a fair trial! There are zero accomplices in this case! You're looking for just one guy!"

Cassandra: "Which means their alibi just got a lot stronger. There's no motivation for both of them to lie."

Zachary: "Then what does the contradiction mean?"

Cassandra: "Flip your thinking. Have you found the answer?"
>>
>>151751
>"You're looking for just one guy!"
Gee Monokuma calm the fuck down, you're slipping the tongue and we're barely on the first case already.
Anyways, let's check with Eddie first, did they EVER leave the Kitchen togheter, did they had bathroom breaks, did they stop for eating, packed lunch and went somewhere?
I want to hear it from the man itself.
>>
>>151785
last thing to add, if we're keeping the format of the game, then present the knife from the kitchen.
It was taken after the incident took place, right?
>>
>>151751
Maybe the skewer was washed way after the crime was committed?
>>
>>151840
Wouldn't that be a given though, considering it was the murder weapon?
>>
>>151871
I'm sure he's meaning to say that the killer washed the skewer after they left the kitchen, hanging around in the courtyard until they went to their respective dorms.
that way, both have an alibi and we're left with no leads.
my only problem is, why didn't they went trough the courtyard in their way to the dorms?
I mean, is the straightest way, didn't they see a dead body impaled to a tree?
what did they do AFTER leaving the kitchen?
>>
>>151915
Yup that is what I was thinking, or even washed in the morning before the body was discovered.

This is a good line of questioning though, what did they do AFTER they left the kitchen?
>>
>>151915
Lemme just clear up your confusion with a hastily rushed floor plan while I type up the next post.
>>
>>151951
oh, that seems allright then. I thought that because we went with Cassandra trough the courtyard, that was the fastest route. I tought the kitchen was in the place where the gym would be.
I guess my line of questioning was too derailing also, my bad.
But, I still think it's suspicious they saw no one lurking around, the killer had to know somehow that they were in the kitchen to avoid rushing into them.
if they we're all the time in the Kitchen, then what did they do after 1AM? did they saw the knife missing in the whole deal?
is feather maybe a nickname? is Cassandra forging evidence?
did we miss anything important?
could we get a list of evidence again for convenience?
>>
>>151785
>>151840
Zachary: "You're absolutely sure that you were together the whole time?"

Eddie: "Definitely. We arrived at the same time and went back to the dorms together."

Melissa: "Airtight Alibis."

Zachary: "If that's the case, then the skewer would have had to have been washed way after the murder was committed! The knife would have been brought out then too. It would have had to have been at least 1 AM."

Eddie: "About that knife and skewer... I couldn't really say this before, but something doesn't add up. Right Melissa?"

Melissa: "Yes. You're talking about where they were when we were in the kitchen. We arrived before the murder took place, and left well after Quentin was dead."

Eddie: "But while we were in there, the skewer... It was with the others. The knife was hanging up too."

Zachary: "What!?"

Juliet: "Impossible! You were just looking at a different skewer."

Eddie: "There's a kitchen equipment list tacked onto the wall. It said twenty metal skewers, and there were twenty there. When I checked this morning, there were nineteen."

Zachary: "What the hell!? What does that mean!?"

Cassandra: "It means we don't actually have the murder weapon. And if it wasn't at the scene, or in the kitchen, where could it possibly be?"
>>
>>152001
The kitchen area is actually two rooms. The Dining Hall, and the Kitchen. You have to go through the dining hall to get to the kitchen, but it would be pretty easy to notice if someone was in the kitchen simply from the noise carrying across to the dining hall. After 1 AM, they simply headed back to their dorms straight from the dining hall.

To your theories, I'll say nothing. You've not actually missed anything vital, and you don't need your evidence list. The killer is within your reach. Just think. Where would a murderer hide a murder weapon if they wanted no one to stumble across it during the investigation, assuming that all locations would be thoroughly searched?
>>
>>152002
>>152070

I swear to god if you hid the skewer in some food Omega
>>
>>152002
>>152070
It's possible the killer hid the weapon on their person, but it would need to be somehow disguised.

A more farfetched-but-plausible-in-DR theory is that the weapon was hidden on Quentin's body. Perhaps the reason his body was pinned to a tree was so the real weapon could be hidden on his back and concealed between him and the tree.
>>
>>152002
>>152070

well shit, this is getting harder.
so the killer went to the Kitchen AFTER 1AM, took the knife, impaled Q with it to the tree, and kept the skewer on him at all times.
but where to go from here?
We did intend to go to his room, but Juliet abstained us from that.
Oh man, do we have to start pointing fingers already, because that way Juliet is definetively on my sight.
But maybe is too soon, what else would support this theory?
Also I'm having ON THE MEAT BONE flashbacks over here, it's getting real painful
>>
>>152095
then how would the message in the bench appear if he was impaled with the skewer from the get-go?
if the killer wanted to forge a message, it would have been something like "ed", but not something so unclear like "feather"
>>
>>152083
I'm not that uncreative. That's why the skewer's not even the murder weapon.
>>
>>152113
Well, he was already dead so it would be possible to move him to the tree and pin him there afterward. He may have been stabbed at the table and written the message as he was dying. Then again, he'd be nothing but dead weight, and it wouldn't exactly be easy for someone with a weaker frame to move him to the tree. Just spitballing at this point.
>>
>>152131
OH FUCK
>>
>>152131
Did he get stabbed with a fucking feather?
>>
>>152095
>Perhaps the reason his body was pinned to a tree was so the real weapon could be hidden on his back and concealed between him and the tree.
HOLY FUCK
This could be it!

>>152083
>>152096
MEAT ON THE BONE

But how was he pinned to the tree if the skewer wasn't missing?
Do we need an evidence?
>>
Lemme offer you a simple choice for your answer to Cassandra, to help you narrow it down.

Where is the murder weapon right now?

>On the victim's person
>On the murderer's person
>Monokuma has it
>>
>>152158
>>152171
Well, Im guessing from the "not-so-subtle" hint our narrator has blessed us with to move forward already, but if the skewer isn't the murder weapon, and the wound was in fact smaller at first like the M-file said, then.
The murder weapon is a fucking feather.
Most likely behind the knife which we didn't bother removing from him to "keep the scene intact"
what else is called feather besides actual feathers? if it's strong enough to kill him it can't be an actual feather-feather.
I already forgot, but unless there's an Ultimate Marskman among our bunch of losers, then I'm hitting the wall over here.
>>
>>152234
On the victim's person!
>>
>>152234
On the fucking victim.
not even mad, this makes perfect sense.
>>
>>152236
A quill would work if it was metal tipped with anime logic
>>
>>152234
Can't be on monokuma cause it would be silly,

If it was on the person, they would have been able to leave it in there room...unless there is no way for them to do that.
>>
>>152234
Hrm... What if the murder weapon isn't just on him. But still IN him
>>
>>152259
men you really hate Edward don't you?

>>

Zachary: "Have we fully checked the victim?"

Cassandra: "Yes, that's how I got that Scrap of Paper."

Zachary: "Even inside the wound? Did you pull out the knife?"

Cassandra: "Mhm. It wasn't pretty, but I took out the knife and examined it. The wound too. What the Monokuma file said about it getting widened later checks out."

Zachary: "Are you absolutely sure? Maybe that's where they hid the weapon to make sure it wouldn't be found?"

Juliet: "Have you taken leave of your senses, Lt. Lineman? The body would be the most thoroughly searched area in this whole school!"

Cassandra: "She's right. If you wanted to hide the murder weapon, the victim is the worst spot to do it."

Zachary: "I... I guess you're right."

(Careful! You've lost a little bit of your credibility. Lose it all, and people will get convinced that you're the killer trying to lead them astray.)
Where is the murder weapon right now?

>On the victim's person
>On the murderer's person
>Monokuma has it
>>
>>152332
Ugh, well fine then. That means the culprit still has it.
>>
>>152332

It is ok group we all make mistakes.
>>
>>152332
on the murderer?
o-okay, yeah, that makes sense too.
>>
>>152332
>On the murderer's person
Should have figured. If it couldn't be found at the scene, it makes sense that the culprit held on to it. Maybe couldn't dispose of it when they wanted too.

Zachary: "So, the murder has it on their person?"

Cassandra: "No one's been searched. It's entirely possible."

Zachary: "So, should we all turn out our pockets then?"

Cassandra: "One person in particular should. That'll clear up this whole case."

Zachary: "Who?"

Cassandra: "Put it all together. The scrap of paper, the dying message, the murder weapon. You know who the killer is."

Zachary: "Hey, Edward. Turn out your pockets."

Edward: "What?"

Zachary: "Turn. Out. Your. Pockets."

Edward: "Why!?"

Rosalina: "Just do it so we can move on!"

Cassandra: "Show us what's in your pockets, and we can finish this trial."

Edward: "Uhhh..."

Steven: "Do it already ya bastard!"

(Edward takes out a stick of gum, a small handbook with the title "Coping with Death", and what looks to be a sizeable canary yellow Quill Pen.)

Zachary: "What's that pen?"

Edward: "It's a novelty Quill Pen I got for winning a contest, that's all. It's pretty much useless for writing."

Cassandra: "I'd like to look at that pen more closely. Give it here please."

(Cassandra takes the pen and examines it.)

Cassandra: "As I thought. The tip of this pen is incredibly sharp. It would be possible to stab someone with this."

Edward: "That's just part of the whole novelty thing! You prick your finger and write with the blood!"

Zachary: "But you used it for a different purpose altogether, didn't you?"

Edward: "I-I... I don't know what you're talking about."

Zachary: "Well then, lemme sum up this case from beginning to end, to finish this whole trial!"

(Normally in the games, this would be a Closing Argument. But as you're the Omega Actor, you'll be giving a Recap Performance, narrating and acting out the case from beginning to end. You'll have to perform the events in the right order. It's time to take center stage!)

You walk out from behind your podium and into the center of the circle. "Alright, our story begins at around 10 PM, when the Victim, Quentin, was following Cassandra out into the Courtyard. Together, they stopped and talked for a while near a certain tree."

You bring out Cassandra to assist you, and get her to mime a casual conversation with you acting as Quentin.

You grab Cassandra, then let her slip out to feign a punch at your jaw, which you react to and fall backwards to the floor. She drops her hat on the ground next to you and runs out of the circle, heading back to her podium. You proceed to sit down on your podium. "Cassandra of course ran off after this, leaving Quentin alone. But then someone else came and sat next to him on the nearby bench. This certain someone chatted with Quentin until a while after 10, and then stabbed him with a novelty quill pen."

Cassandra takes up the Murderer's role and sits next to you, before making a stabbing motion with her hands. You react dramatically, twisting your face into a grimace of pure agony, and clutching at your stomach. You then lean down and make a writing motion with your hand. With this, you stop with the Victim's role and take up the role of the Murderer. "After Quentin was stabbed, he wrote down the weapon sticking out of his stomach. A Feather. The culprit then proceeded to remove the quill pen. Now, he would have probably wanted to head to the kitchen right away to clean up, but it was occupied by a certain pair of individuals."

>Who?

You motion Eddie and Melissa over. "These two had headed to the dining hall to start cooking, and they were there until 1AM, well after Quentin had died. So the killer had to wait until then to make his move."

You shoo them away and then stalk around, miming your actions as you narrate. "He headed into the kitchen and cleaned the quill pen, then he washed a skewer and dumped into the sink. After that, he grabbed a knife and made his way back out of the kitchen. He probably had cleaning materials too, to clean the bench with."

You bring out Cassandra to take the place of the dead body, and carry her from a sitting position on one podium to leaning against another.

>What did the killer do now?
>>
>>152837
He stabbed the knife into the wound and pinned him to a tree
>>
>>152837
Stabbed him to the tree, straight trough the old wound
>>
>>152856
>>152867
You move your hand back as if to gather momentum, and thrust it forward, miming the knife thrust. "Once he got back, he stabbed the victim again, pinning them to the tree! This widened the wound. After that, he probably cleaned the benches and then stored everything back in the kitchen. With his work done, he could head back to his room in peace, knowing that he'd hidden the murder weapon well."

"But not well enough! Because of his carelessness in allowing the victim to leave behind a dying message, and because he didn't realize that the people in the kitchen were more than a temporary hindrance, the killer was uncovered!"

"Edward Holt, you're the murderer!"

The look on Edward's face is one of both rage and defeat. "Dammit! I didn't want to kill him, but I had to! I had to, for her!"

You and Cassandra share a look, and speak at the same time. "Her?"

Edward 's eyes fill with tears. "The real Omega Poet. My twin sister, Willow. She was always brilliant at poetry, ever since we were kids. But she's been bedridden practically her whole life from illness. So she decided to have me take the credit for all her work. I didn't want to go here and be separated from her, but she insisted on it. So when Monokuma showed me that video... I had to get to her. I had to go be with her!"

He heads over to you, and grabs you by the collar. "Listen Lineman. I'm about to die here, but I don't care about that. I don't care about me. If I could have, I'd have traded places with Willow in an instant. I need you to promise me that when you guys all get out of here, together, you'll find Willow and keep her safe."

What do you say?
>>
>>152933

"All right, Edward. I personally promise to keep your sister safe when we get out of here."

Edward smiles. "Thanks, Zach. That's a weight off my mind. I'm counting on you! All right Monokuma. Execute me."

"Ohohohohoh, don't mind if I do!"

Monokuma brings out a gavel and slams it down on a button. A screen lowers from the ceiling, and you see a small sprite animation saying that the Killer has been found, and that Edward has lost. A nearby wall opens up and you see a chain shoot out of it, latching onto Edward and pulling him into the opening. The wall slams back down, and the image on the screen changes. Edward is sitting in a black metal chair, and his vest has been removed, leaving him bare-chested. A large, menacing machine is behind him. Suddenly, mechanical tentacles that end in pointed needles extend out of the machine, and point at Edward. They lunge at him, and start pricking him over and over and over and over and over and over again. He's obscured for a moment by the writhing mass of tentacles, but when they clear away, you see that he's been tattooed from head to toe. You make out the words "Failure now, failure forever." The tentacles slip back into the machine.

Next, a giant quill is wheeled out by Monokuma, and attached to a pendulum. The quill is pulled back, and then released. You see Edward smile before the quill obscures him, and you hear a loud sharp squelching sound as the tip of the quill pierces him.

Execution complete.
