All prophecies but one have come to pass. Yahweh has flattened the Earth, elevated Greater Jerusalem above all nations, and the Bible heroes rule the world from Ezekiel's Temple.

The last prophecy says that Satan will rise with his army one last time before the Judgement, and so Yahweh has allowed a bumbling opposition, The Other Light, to form.

You are TOL's logistics computer. By a glitch, you have become sentient. Over the last 30 years you have worked around TOL's leadership to resume technological progress and make a dent in Fate.

You have managed to spark a renaissance in Northern Africa, and now the territory answers to you. The only time this has ever happened in what passes for history, terrible Divine plagues befell the land, until its people submitted and repented.

History did not repeat itself.

Armed with cyborg zombies, submarine satellites, a psychotic pyromaniac potato dwarf, wubs, and a head in a jar questing for fellatorial perfection, you have managed to get your territory to survive the Ten Plagues of Egypt.

You have managed to make a crack in the armor of Fate. But you have less than a human lifetime to shatter it, lest Yahweh erase all free will from the universe.
>>
Very brief tl;dr recap.

> You are a distributed AI that exists within TOL's computer network.
> They are hunting for you.
> Despite this, you've got more done in 30 years than they in 900.
> You took over Northern Africa, and started a Renaissance.
> You invented a way to make people skip out on Hell by turning them into cyborg zombies who, by now, look pretty good. Or torsos in jars operating giant robots, you're not picky.
> God sent a drought to stop you. It didn't.
> God is sending the 10 plagues of Egypt to stop you. They haven't.
> 1 turn = 1 year. When the clock hits +1000, the Last Judgement takes place, God wins, and the universe is over. Some turns may be zoomed into and roleplayed.

Copying my post from last thread to get an ID and for anyone new that comes in while I'm asleep:
Future strategy talk:

This went pretty well, all things considered. I feel the difficulty mainly came from:

1) We didn't understand our enemy very well. How to kill him, what strategy to use, his speed, his method of attack.

2) Research felt lacking compared to maybe where it should have been. That said, we were able to pull big numbers and a mob worked out really well in the end; I wouldn't want to count on it again though.

Going forward:

We need to head off the other light problem. Project number will be a big pain in the ass, I suggest aggressively recruiting from their ranks using the PR surge we're about to get. We need to devour them and quickly.

Satan is likely just a pawn at this point, aside from research, this should be our immediate goal.

Research wise, we need more radiation weapons and possibly better ones. We need to understand narrative causality a LOT better than we currently do.
I have a sneaking suspicion that an understanding there could lead us to something like blessed bullets, which would allow us to take that big stockpiled useless army and make it not completely useless. If we can use standard arms to do anything at all to the supernatural, weapons design heavy lifting can simply be done by trawling the archives for old designs and adapting them.

We need to make sure that undecided and nonbelievers are flocking to us, not TOL parent organization.

Also, we need to unfuck our systems to get rid of some bugs.

The butcher's bill has been severe; you reorganize the force under your direct control to find that you've lost more than a third of them, and that to a single Angel, at that.

The Angel of Death struck at midnight (not that there is much difference between day and night in the eternal sunshine of this spotless world) and died about half an hour later. It is still early in the morning.

- You have prisoners.
- The world at large still expects to see your government capitualte. Probably not happening.
- You have declared the Millennium Force a terrorist organization, but haven't enforced that yet.
- There is a glitch in your systems, caused by a Christian virus.
- TOL is still proceeding with their plan to replace you.
-And more...

>>308571

Please do pick an ID! Still says anon here.
>>
>>308582
I'll hold off till your finished. Unless it's still our turn or something in the year. In which call please respond?
>>
>>308582

>Please do pick an ID! Still says anon here.

Way too tired for this shit, I'll tackle it when I get up.

>- You have prisoners.

Try them as normal. The ones that sabotaged the server probably cost lives, and would have cost a lot more had they succeeded; if we figure out what the virus was supposed to do in its entirety then consider throwing the book at them.

As for the rest, I'm too tired to accurately remember, other than some of them were just minor vandals and will maybe learn their lesson. Someone else can handle this.

>- The world at large still expects to see your government capitualte. Probably not happening.

They can fuck right off. I'm going to put up a bunch of statues to pagan idols.

>- You have declared the Millennium Force a terrorist organization, but haven't enforced that yet.

Someone please handle that. They did nothing but sabotage the moment they had free reign.

>- There is a glitch in your systems, caused by a Christian virus.

Unfuck this once you're done riding the media storm.

#Start recruiting from TOL parent organization using the giant wave we're going to be riding. Specific cabal numbers and such can be decided by someone who'll be here. But this really needs to happen so we aren't caught trying to unfuck things at the last minute again.

In general, see: >>308571

I will sleep, goodnight and goodluck. Get some rest QM/DM, I have no idea what time it is wherever you are. You too anti, and the other guy that helped pitch in by throwing body parts.
>>
>>308620
Right on.
>>
(While we wait. "How I MECed your mother" "my name is Azrael" And "fast times in misrayim high")
>>
>>308582
Spirit. If there's one thing I want to see, it's Azrael at the end of days, free will and all show up.
And we go "No, hard feelings." and give him his scythe back before brofisting.
>>
>>308914
Wouldnt put money on that ending but literally stranger things have happened in this game.
>>
>>308620
A bunvh were unable to see, Quinn has then weeded them out the ones left are those that chose us over MF with no promises about what we would do, they have a a variety of options for us,why were they not gifted with sight, and can we use them as misraym missionaries in the let ng term. We need to keep them onside to do that. We need to be careful for spies but I'm doubting that there will be any seeing as they had no hope of being rescued.
>>
>>309400
We could have them take a plee deal in court?
>>
>>309445
The issue there is either we treat them as thought crimes (they thought about vandalism but couldnt actually do it) or for associating with terrorists, prior to the organisation being declared as such. Id be tempted to treat them as misguided rather than criminals and treat them with compasion and give them adjustment training to help them adapt to their new life after MF. Those that crossed the line should be punished and rounded up as terrorists along with the hackers with sentences appropriate for the loss of life due to the angel

This quest is interesting.

Anyways, i wonder how the Almighty is going to react to our continued defiance. I see two possibilities:

Either He just acts as though things had unfolded by scripture and starts to ignore us because he cannot conceptualize that things have not gone according to His will and that Egypt has not been humbled by the plagues.

Or He is going to escalate.

It may have some value to look into other divine curses we could attract, just so we can keep God from doing something unexpected that we can't prepare for.

Maybe we should build an actual Tower of Babel, just so we can certain the next attack will be the Curse of Tongues, which should be relatively easy to deal with.
>>
>>309577
Additionally can we quarentine the virus on a single machine, if project number runs on a seperate network im thinking we can weaponise it. We need more data about that though. (Also could we use the virus as a basis to integrate project numbers systems to our own for a boost in processing and capacity?)
>>
>>309587
Pretty sure that will be under the narative causality tech tree which i am for investigating further
>>
>>309589
(Can i suggest we have a discussion about future direction prior to making any more decisions )
>>
>>309591

I currently see three win conditions, mainly because the results of the Azrael fight makes me think that trying to beat God in a fight at the end of day is probably futile, not matter how many technological advances we manage until then. That one angel was bad enough, the full heavenly hosts will be unstoppable even if we weren't playing into their narrative by offering battle.

1) We intensify the Space Program and evacuate the solar system. The bible does not seem to recognise anything aside from Earth and its satellites as Creation. God Almighty is probably only going to destroy Earth, maybe the solar system, instead of the entire universe. This is supported by him only adding a water canopy instead of like, snuffing out all the stars in the galaxy.

2) We intensify the nuclear weapon program and nuke all the believers, hoping that narrative causality will unmake god if noone believes in him anymore.

3) We hope that the narrative causality techtree has a golden bullet. This has the problem that researching this is going to be a bitch since the subject seems to be very subjective, as well as a red flag attracting Milllenial and Divine Intervention.

In any case, while preserving our powerbase in Egypt is important, i think we should focus more on recruiting and investing into the Big Three research trees of space, nukes and narrativity. Those are going to be really important, everything else is only a stop-gap.
>>
>>309598
I'm going to go with space and narrative causality. I think there may be some angel snuffing stuff in the nuclear tree but the other two have the knowledge to defeat tyrant if not the means.
>>
>>309587
I'm pretty sure tyrant is going to pull a Sodom and Gomorrah on Misrayim. Of course, it won't likely be without warning. But anyways, with the mill fo labeled a criminal group and the plagues over, it would be a good time for the government to handle infrastructure repairs and pushing for a continuance of scientific study. Just be ready to evacuate the country is all.
>>
>>309755
Could we combine by exploring the option of nuclear powered launch vehicles for the space program? (Long term i mean) narrative causality to me seems a no brainer we need to understand the fundamentals of how this universe works if we are to destroy its creator (although im going with evil space alien impersonation myself)

I see a few tasks we have to resolve.
1. The outcasts, i say we give them parole, with some community service that has a direct effect on the community (helping out at a hospital for example) it will confront them with a few difficult truths about tyrant, plus makes the other population see they are being punished. Explain to the outcasts the second part about ensuring their safety and if any of them have any suggestions for their community service accept it so long as it does not give them access to any important infrastructure.
The hackers. I can see a use for them. Im thinking put them on trial, but with a no capital punishment option except for the one that shot the infiltrator.(im thinking if we can kill him and hide the devine retribution then it will create a divide amoungst believers happy to take peoples opinions)
We have the preacher, im thinking we film him a message home, he seems like a crazy loon and it might create unrest if we can get a video out of him ranting and raving about monsters when we offered him a message home.(again happy for suggestions) then a trial made up of 50/50 unbeliever/believers all first born (no capital punishment we want to break him, to discourage other cult leaders )
>>
>>309971
Good ideas, but i would be a little concerned with the onewho did the actual hacking. She could have found something sensitive and that would explain her silence.
>>
>>309971
Then we have clean up.
Also we have to analyse the data from the fight.
We have to quarentine or remove the virus.
And we need to repair the damages
>>
>>310008
I think the virus should be highest priority. Hey plumber, how much of the turn or cabals will removing the virus be?
>>
>>310029
Agreed. But do you think its worth trying to quarantine?
>>
>>309997
Yeah shes the one i want to keep alive. She can be a great asset
>>
>>310052
Or a massive liability and security risk.
>>
>>310189
Didnt say she would be doing it willingly, im thinking a honeytrap scenario learn how the believer hackers are working
>>
>>310192
I don't think that was said at all. I think that your thinking of the group that got separated from the rest of the millennial force.
>>
>>310198
Sorry for not being clear.
Lets try the hacking group but have a honeytrap set up that the prison computer connects to. I want to see how that hacker works.

The outcasts i want to try and truely convert
>>
I'm up and I'll be checking in as I get myself together. I agree on space and narrative causality. I think it's a bit hopeful to think that maybe Sodom and Gomorah is something deflectable, and I need to do some reading, but God has been known to fling rocks.

Engineering one or more benevolent Gods is also probably a win condition, provided they're strong enough.

I also still think it's very important that we head off TOL problem before we're shut out of their networks. It's coming, and aggressively recruiting will both slow it down and bolster our ranks. They're only nominally useful.

The immediate aftermath looks more like a tragedy than a triumph; thousands of people died, after all. Trying to respect personal compatibilities, you mark down your personnel availability down 37% from the previous day, and reorganize your cabals; your strategic assets are largely intact, with Jeb grounded and Ziggy convalescing. Of course, you're an AI; for the people of Misrayim, the matter is a lot more present.

Many died. Too many. Across hamlets, villages, and the three cities of Amman, Cairo and Timbuktu, thousands died.

Even some unbelievers, family of those taken by Azrael, join the believer minority in protesting the capitol building in Cairo.

People don't need to see statistics to remember a loved one whose life was quenched in front of them, the failed efforts to get them to a first aid station, the few successes, the second wind of hope knocked out by despair as the few who had been resuscitated spasmed and died again.

All this changes when you issue an impersonal bulletin, the butcher's bill, scrubbed slightly to include those who have been rescued by the MECbulances - you are still assigning them new identities and marking them dead - and to exclude those who died in their artificial life. The bulletin finishes with "The Angel Azrael, the suspect in this act of mass murder, has died in custody."

For you, the world speeds up, you "feel" sluggish, just when you need your faculties the most; the small video clip of Azrael being beaten to an inch of death by your surviving forces, and then incinerated by its own scythe, is downloaded so many times that little other traffic manages to pass through your network.

Unlike when the Nile's waters came back, however briefly, the celebration is somber. People outside Parliament are singing, candles and lighters and laser pointers lit and aimed at the sky.

The believing protesters slink off, more out of embarassment than out of fear.

People are singing. Solemnly for the dead. Strongly for the living.

Eventually, the songs coalesce. None of the old or even the new hymns are appropriate. There is no language that can deliver the right mix of sadness and pride.

And so, out of a boom box in Amman spreads one song that nobody knows the words for, because the words are made up, but the tone is right.

Little changes at dawn, the nightless Earth trading one light for another. But people are singing, and now, it's in unison.

Your first priority after the announcement is to...

# Get rid of the virus however is easiest.

# Isolate the virus to one computer.

# Talk with the would-be hacker (yourself, or through an agent)

# Talk with the "cadet" missionaries (yourself, or through an agent)

# Get the Seven out of bed, whatever it takes.

# Check on your people.

Damien has been offered a medal and, instead, asked for a 10kg bag of cookies and somebody cute to eat them with.
>>
>>310219
There is also the fact that Sunday will want the weapon. Quite frankly Sunday and Azrael's scythe don't sound like a good combination. And I really expect them to contact us once word reaches that Azrael's KIA.
>>
>>310245
(How long would it take to get rid of the virus or isolate it?)
>>
>>310245
Lets make those cookies dick shaped (they want to perfect the blowjob lets show we listen)
>>
>>310258

Not too long; you will have to go on low power for a day or so, though.

>>310271

Damien is presented with a bucket of dicks within the hour, greatly appreciates the joke, and... well, the people on viscera cleanup detail get a very interesting little diversion that keeps their minds off what they have just seen, so there's that. Unsurprisingly, Damien eats most of the whole thing, sharing a little of course, and someone'll have to do extra composting later on in the day.

Ziggy and Jeb are convalescing. Quinn has had a hand replaced, but that's nothing new. Vee is surprisingly hale after the battle, although she's commandeered one of the few working bathtubs in the Citadel and announced that she's not coming out for a day.
>>
>>310285
It's only going to get worse for them. Tell them (the villians) to meet me in a day. Include Damien in that. Let's handle the virus first. Also, let's announce this as a holiday for those who died and those who lived.
>>
>>310285
What does low power entail...
>>
>>310258

A few days of sluggish reaction, we were told.
>>
>>310297
Basically were going to be a slow computer that can't do much beyond text based work.
>>
>>310296
Lets hold a memorial service around the scythe with an honour guard of the families of those first born that fell in the line of duty stop sunday from trying to take it.
>>
Oh right. Ziggy's going to be bedridden. Have him attend by video conference and have the room made private. One of the villians of his choice should be there with him.
>>
>>310305
Whilst we are powered down
>>
>>310305
Might want to include a few MEC's and troopers with that honor guard to show the support. Allow the heavys to go without helmet.
>>
>>310296

(Confirm handling the virus first?)

>>310297
>>310299
>>310300

Your systems will operate at reduced speed, and some functions like realtime Fourier analysis of audio will be unavailable. Your agents will require to communicate with you through text, and you will not be able to react quickly to events.

You draft a legislative proposal with wording that you statistically predict to be guaranteed to pass, email it to one of the MPs that your statistics indicate has done a good job with the day-to-day, and the day becomes one of the world's few non-Christian holidays. This year, it ends up being almost opposite Passover, which is fitting. Perseverance Day (feel free to change this) will be:

# A purely secular holiday as far as the state is concerned.

# An official day of thanks to the old gods.

>>310305

Carefully to not destroy the slab, the scythe is lifted along with the concrete it's embedded into and carried just outside the Citadel. The surviving firstborns and their families -- there was no way to prevent them from rushing over to pick their children up -- attend the funeral of those who Azrael took with it in death. The event is broadcast worldwide and, just in case, everyone involved remains under what's left of the Citadel's roof with a large number of Tesla coils clearing the air.

The world media response is very muted; Tsion briefly appears on television to point out that, as it was in the first days of Moses, the Pharaoh likewise did not relent after the plagues. A new set of demands is released.

>>310322

Reveal the Heavy MECs to the public as well? Most people still think that Rocky is the only successful MEC citizen.

>>310307
>>310297

Virus first, or meeting first?
>>
>>310330
Hmm. Yeah. Thee going to find out about the MECs anyways. Best let them see it has been a truly ongoing project.

And it took everyone regardless of belief. National holiday or holiday world wide. Doesn't really matter to me.

(Isolating the virus without removing it is immediate right?)
>>
>>310349
"They're" what's wrong with my keypad?
>>
>>310330
>Reveal the Heavy MECs to the public as well? Most people still think that Rocky is the only successful MEC citizen.

If they watched the Azrael video, was it just too grainy to tell the people were MECs?
>>
One low-priority item in your message queue is that at some point after the Temple Tribunal's pronouncement, Misrayim's parliament has passed a law ensuring that people on MEC support have the same rights, privileges and duties as any other citizen. The provision is very broad and specifically includes "citizens born human who are now completely artificial and can demonstrate a continuity of consciousness, or entirely artificial entities who can pass a Turing test".

>>310349

Due to the piecemeal nature of your systems, eliminating the virus is faster than isolating it safely. So far, there have been a few lighting glitches, you saying Osaze instead of Misrayim about 20% of the time, and a stubborn belief on your part that toupees are in fact mammals, which your sysadmins were finally able to remove just now.
>>
>>310330
I say virus first.
Lets keep it secular, but people talk, lets not discourage it.

Im against sharing the knowledge of MECs yet, we need to be careful. I say no to the unvieling of the heavies as MECs

Everyone from the massacre will talk anyways. Best to reveal the MECs. Let's delete this virus before it can get out of hand.

Agree the virus cant live, but its useful technology against project number

>>310370
Well, were not going to go full open on our numbers XD

Though I do agree on the cosmetics. I guess we could also stop making fake new identities for some of the survivors.
>>
>>310375
How is that useful against project number?

Also rather than a honey trap can't we bait and switch, also couldn't we do this after finding out what was affected so we know what the hacker likely saw?
>>
>>310376
Yeah lets have them think we are a few years behind our actual technological level.

Do we have any revieved MEC believers ?

Heavy MEC frames include a face-concealing helmet canopy that locks in place. As for Damien, the MECpod is clearly visible in a couple of shots, but was so covered in blood that it looks like someone who barely survived having most of their bits sliced off.

>>310362

As per your clarificationm Misrayim makes a point of remaining a secular country, even Yahweh-worship is not treated any worse than other faiths. At least for now.

>>310366
>>310362

The experience of low power mode is unusual - you give your cabals their marching orders, and from your sensor, everything seems to move sped up; one of your terminal plays the Benny Hill music until someone lowers the volume because the bit rate is all wrong.

# Delete the virus.

# Isolate the virus. This takes longer.

>>310362
>>310370

You schedule a demo of the Heavy MEC system, with two of the agents that had to undergo this procedure due to being literally sliced apart by Azrael's scythe. Osman has taken it very hard; he's being pumped full of tranquilizers, and moves in a very robotic way. Kat on the other hand takes it in much better stride, and shows up to the demo "wearing" a Voltron t-shirt that someone has to talk her into unstapling from her chest plate. Taking a cue from Osman, she's asked to also move robotically and ploddingly. The MEC frames used for the demo are the ones used to train new heavies to having a bigger body, so they are pretty clunky, weaponless, and use tank treads rather than legs. Some people make the connection with the security bots seen on darkness footage.

You won't know the result of the demo until you leave low power mode, other than "no emergencies occured".

>>310385
>>310375

You leave instructions to your sysadmins to do the following with the virus: (tell me please!)

No believer has undergone the MEC treatment. There was an opportunity a while ago, but it was seen as a line too tall to cross.

They're still going to use a network to move logistics data around; they're just not going to delegate decisions to it. Even in this technologically frozen world, at these scale, doing everything by paper slip and fountain pen would be unrealistic.

They're training actual human calculators to replace us.

We can potentially develop a new one, I think we just need to get moving as quickly as possible after this set back.

>>
>>310426
>>310425

>>310451

Maybe? I mean, we're planning to build a temple to some old gods, and I am NOT including anything related to the authority in it.

Remember, religion in this setting is an actual, tangible, useful weapon; we're just lucky there aren't too many believers left in the country.

Right now I think we've just left the whole idea alone besides ensuring some rights for people.

Well. I guess we could give ourselves the authority to provide plague relief to other countries if they need it? I mean, We did so much better than the missionary's did. Not to mention we didn't put political pressure on anyone save for the MEC program.

Not quite what i meant, but it wont work and could hinder us so forget it.

>>310528
Huh. Well, what was your actual idea?
>>
>>310532
Basically get all the rest of the non believers around the world seeing that the nation took out an angel and that they control their laws. It will most likely lead to divine retribution and make our movements in heavy believer districts harder
>>
>>310543
Hmm. Fair point.
>>
>>310555
Yeah hence the abort, i come up with a lot of out of the box ideas so you have to veto me sometimes, and sometimes ill do it too

Ok. Well, at least share some of those out of the box ideas. You could come up with something good.

Anyways. I guess that settles it. Let's continue.

There, I'll get the name out of the way even if I still feel silly not using anon.

When are we going to get cabals rolling again, OP?

Also, just remember going forward that sometimes we're going to need to swallow our pride. God has any number of tricks from exploding Sodom to flooding the world. Lots of those, at least for now, are basically out of context problems. We've stirred shit up a lot lately and we desperately need time to focus. If we limp from managing one disaster to the next, we'll never get anything done. At that point, the only solution I think would just be to try depopulating believers so that the authority eases off a bit.
>>
>>310608
Yeah. We're just going to have to ease of on the pressure NJ thinks we're giving TJ just basically ignore them for a while and comply marginally.
>>
>>310608
Agreed we need to lie low.

Not a bad name choice Sara. Where is it from? Movie, book, mythology?

So far, you have been running the country through having coordinated the election of most majority parliament members; executive power is nominally in the hands of a five-member directorate, who get their cues from staffers and clerks a sufficient amount of which exist only in your database.

# Reveal yourself and run for office, now that you can get citizenship.

# Hold a public vote to change government structure.

# Pass a law saying that, in an emergency, an automated system (you) will take over some government functions to ensure efficiency.

As for what to do with the Millennium Force terrorists...

# Formally ban Yahweh worship.

# Deport them.

# Try the whole organization.

# Something else.

>>310520
>>310514

The "Let my people go" cry has been taken up by believers abroad, with respect to the Millennium Force organization who, to increase parallels with Moses, are being depicted as having provided most of the disaster relief and are now being lumped together due to a few bad apples to avoid receiving just gratitude or compensation.

# Decide who to try, and for what.

# Take advantage of this: Let your people go? Fine: that AND deport the believers.

# Take advantage of this: Let your people go? Fine: that AND encourage believers to leave.

(We're going to build a wall and make Yahweh pay for it!)

God has made a solemn promise that He will never again flood the world. Just about everything else is on the table, though.

>>310437

Despite the video, most people start assuming that the death of Azrael and the reveal of the Heavy MECs are closely related, and start crediting the big guys for taking down the Angel.

Quinn is quite a bit jealous by this point, but so it goes.

The most pressing issue is what to do with:

- the MF hacker.
- the MF vandals/terrorists.
- the MF "cadets" that want to stay; the others are with the above group.
- everyone else in that organization, who didn't committ any crimes, but got in the way.
- Cameron Kirk Willams, who has holed himself up in his hotel room and is watching the battle with Azrael on repeat, apparently.
>>
>>311076

># Pass a law saying that, in an emergency, an automated system (you) will take over some government functions to ensure
efficiency.

# Something else.

Anyone that we have hard evidence on, try as expected. Deport the rest.

>are being depicted as having provided most of the disaster relief and are now being lumped together due to a few bad apples to avoid receiving just gratitude or compensation.

Is there any truth to this? Did any of them provide meaning disaster relief? How many are in the country?

>- the MF "cadets" that want to stay; the others are with the above group.

I say they can stay, keep an eye on them and start working on finding a way to integrate them into life here.

>- everyone else in that organization, who didn't committ any crimes, but got in the way.

Define got in the way.

>- Cameron Kirk Willams, who has holed himself up in his hotel room and is watching the battle with Azrael on repeat, apparently.

#Continue to ignore.

Unless someone has an idea to convert this guy? I mean, Azrael did at the end of his defeat, maybe this guy is close to a defeat of sorts as well?
>>
>>311076
I'm thinking try the MF terrorists speak to the cadets and offer a pardon for their testimony against MF (explain they have virtually no chance of being accepted by believers but doing this will wipe out that tiny chance give them access to legal council prior to deciding)
I'm thinking we go for a law stating an automated system will take over. But we need to "build" it.

As for the hacker I'm not sure I don't trust them. But I want to see what they know. I'm happy to go with any suggestions that get us information for no risk (including reputation)

The remaining MF to help with the clean up of the vandalism and the fight. Afterwards give them optional deportation or to stay and continue to atone for their fellows sins.
Let's ignore Cameron, when we have spare time let's analyse the footage in case he saw something we missed.
>>
>>311093

There are approximately four cabals worth of Millennium Force workers, two of which are spread out doing community service things, and two of which have been roaming around as missionaries.

They are widely perceived abroad at having made the Plagues more bearable, while respecting Divine will. They are widely perceived in Misrayim as mostly having gotten in the way since they were trying to do the "let's bring wells and infrastructure to benighted natives" thing while beign among a society more advanced than their own.

>>311146
>>311093

"In the event of a national emergency of the scale of that we have just experienced, in the interest of fairness and efficiency, disaster relief coordination will be handled algorithmically. Cameron Williams, Greatest Investigative Reporter Of All Time, eventually stops sulking and returns to Greater Jerusalem, where he finds that "Land of No" has done extremely well with believing critics but only got so-so audience numbers.
>>
>wh1076
For the MF, they are not allowed to opperate inside the country for their various crimes. Those we have evidence on will be tried. Those who we have nothing on will be let go. We can deport those who are found guilty but cant do that to the rest without inciting retribution.

We should give those recognized for helping rather than causing trouble a pardon, a medal or some shit, and a small settlement.

Have the hacker brought to questioning.
>>
>>311146
>>311093
>>310808

To answer the "Let my people go" cry, Millennium Force members who are not awaiting trial are offered a very cushy deportation deal, with free moving vans and fuel to either Sicily, Gilbraltar, the Greater Jerusalem border, or Central Africa.

An unnamed bureaucrat in GJ asks for immediate extradition of the people you do have awaiting trial, noting that the Pharaoh came to a bad end by refusing leave to the Israelites, even those who had supposedly committed crimes.
>>
>>311168
Good enough on the national defense system.

>>311093
Just disband the organization here in Misrayim. Deportations incite retribution.
>>
>>311193
Send them a letter. I'll write it. And have it approvedby the others. But we are not releasing those who are being tried for criminal activity.

># How about sharing some networking tech with the world, for free? (And backdoor the crap out of it)

> But we are not releasing those who are being tried for criminal activity.

Agreed.
>>
>>311193
Decline until sentencing but offer a compromise of GJ to send in an all natural legal defense team.

I second recognizing those that helped, but intersperse it with scenes of the missionaries offering to build a well next to desalination units (if we have footage of someone demonstrating it proving they don't need the well that is perfect) edit it " poorly "so that it is impossible to strip the footage out. (It was a local schools visit and the kids got to edit the footage for broadcast sort of thing)
>>
>>311219
Agree with networking, and back dooring perhaps make it a feature (you don't even need to worry as we will automatically update your software for you and detect any bugs in your system) (thoughts on last?)
>>
>>311209
Sent to GJ.

If we asked you to release a group of "criminals" from your Bible camps whose crimes were drinking alcoholic beverages, public displays of affection such as kissing, or buying and selling pornography you would start screaming blasphemy and refuse. So why would we release a group of people who's crimes include destruction of property, hacking the city's computer servers, grand theft auto, and assaulting officers of the law simply because you request?

We expect no apology. We do however expect you to stand down and let justice be carried out.

(Hows this guy's?)
>>
>>311093

Most of the not-really-believer cadets are a sticky situation; they're young kids, and the parents want them back to the point that a couple is actually walking to Cairo from Jerusalem in order to raise awareness about getting them back. Of course, the GJ government wants these to come home, too.

>>311201

As the year comes to a close, most MF affiliated shops close down, mostly due to being associated with people who abandoned kids in the middle of a national crisis. A few of the older "cadets" simply decide to stay and help build the country; in general, you allow communication between children and parents, but the latter mostly hear what they want to hear.

Most of the MFers are going home more or less to their own volition, those who can anyway.

>>311209

The reply is that those you are holding are subjects of Israel, not citizens of Misrayim, and should therefore be judged by wise Solomon, not "boys and girls barely older than them whose only qualification is maybe a decade in a heathen law school".

>>311224

FINALLY! You've got something that looks like negotiation going on. The counteroffer is that Tsion travel there, not as judge, but as defender.

>>311219

# Backdoor.

# No need.

>>311224

You make sure a few Packets are intercepted by believers; they contain montages of MFers being, at best, well-intentioned bumblers. The pundits abroad switch gear and defend the MF criminals not as "well intentioned extremists" but as "too dumb to cause harm".

As the year rapidly draws to a close, Misrayim looks ahead again; the dead have been buried, Heavy MECs work openly in construction, and even Jeb is doing better.

Quinn is still jealous.

Ziggy still hasn't come out of his radiation suit.

Damien still hasn't come out of Ziggy's bunker.

>>311231

>>311238

"Are you proposing some sort of trade?"
>>
>>311224

>Decline until sentencing but offer a compromise of GJ to send in an all natural legal defense team.

This is going to cause problems given that they'll want to try by scripture and we'll want to try by local law.

Sure, I suppose. Being honest, we lack serious TV infrastructure so it's not going to reach many people who don't already agree.

Also, remember that it's probably better to let this all go somewhat quietly. We want things to calm down, not heat up.

>(Hows this guy's?)

It's okay. They'll argue God's might makes right though. And I think that we really need this situation to go away, and the heat to die down ASAP.
>>
>>311240
(Not a trade. But I say we accept Tsion to come and play legal defense so long as he abides by rule of law.)
>>
>>311238

"We operate a fair and transparent legal process, you may send a natural, either a delegate to oversea proceedings or a lawyer to act as legal council, they will however be tried as per the laws of our land and sentenced as per these laws too

>>311242

One thing that has slowly been happening in the past few years is separation.

* Believers are moving out, nonbelievers are moving in.

* They use broadcast media, you use the network.

Even the language is starting to shift a bit for the words that haven't been hammered into everyone. http://emlia.org/pmwiki/pub/web/LeftBeyond.Glossary.html

>>311248
>>311250

It's hard to negotiate with people who are trying to sound like they're just giving orders, but the counteroffer is: We will send Tsion, a Glorified, but he will agree in writing to ply law according to your "Charter of Licentiousness".

They also want to know if you would be willing to repatriate the captives in return for various other territories showing a sample of Divine grace towards people who have been caught in illegal reveling.

The trial will happen the following year anyway....
>>
All in favor or against the trade vote.

>Divine grace towards people who have been caught in illegal reveling.

What would happen to these people regardless?

Are they offering to pardon them, or send them to us?
>>
>>311267
Suggestion: we agree to the repatriation of the captive's however they must serve out their sentence as handed down by our courts?

(If we get them to agree then its a win if they don't we can leak the story about how once again GJ has abandoned those in need)
(I'm thinking we need to start to get believers turned, the cadets are a start, we need to monitor the role out of the network, as if it is too slow we might need to switch to broadcasting in the future)
>>
>>311279

Wait for a reply to

>>311281

>What would happen to these people regardless?

>Are they offering to pardon them, or send them to us?

A deal like that could be quick and easy. Though I think I'd like to leave the hacker out of it simply because they've been into our systems. That said, they were pretty inept.
>>
>>311295

That deal has worked with the Cow Tipper. His "prison" is remarkably comfortable, but he cannot leave it.

>>311281

What would happen is, in general, that they would be forced to take classes and accompany itinerant preachers to do a bit of menial labor. These sentences are not civil or criminal, merely the equivalent of being sent to correctional school; sometimes they last a year, rarely until the person turns 100.

Don't forget, in most of the world, people under 100 are considered children.
>>
>>311314

Are they talking about some kind of long term deal, sending those people to us; or just looking the other way for a short period?
>>
Before a deal is agreed to the hacker should be interrogated. Standard police questioning procedure.
>>
>>311325

Mostly, there's been an increase in raids in France and Italy; those caught would be sent to Misrayim to experience firsthand the damaged society that they claim to want, and be forced to stay there for a year. In return, all the MF people would be repatriated, and stand trial in Jerusalem.

>>311339

The hacker's name is Bahira; that's easy to arrange whole negotiatons happen.
>>
>>311339

>Before a deal is agreed to the hacker should be interrogated. Standard police questioning procedure.

Follow the legal procedure for such things. If the law says they need legal council, offer it. Let's not break our own laws or anything.
>>
>>311347
I was refering to the trade of prisoners not to Tsion showing up. Should have clarified.
>>
>>311346
(I stand against trial in Jerusalem, they must be tried by us.

Also Bahira is a special case she's going nowhere)
>>
>>311346

What do you guys think?

I'm not opposed to the deal. We roughed them up, the hack seemed more like just a smash and grab injecting a virus than a competent intrusion.

We could see if they'd bite on returning everyone except the hacker. Really, the hacker was the only one that killed a large number of people, and they've also seen our systems. If anyone gets the book, it's them.

I like the idea of NJ paying to send us their disillusioned.
>>
>>311358
Agreed on them sending. But I don't like the idea of them not standing trial in the nation where they committed their crimes. Tsion can still come and act as their legal council.
>>
>>311358

As the year draws to a close, you are surprised that TOL leadership did not ask for Azrael's scythe, which has been left embedded in the concrete for a few days and then put into a containment system for safekeeping. Nobody has requested Azrael's ashes, which is good, because they dispersed quickly and those you recovered were mixed with all sort of debris.

>>311367
>>311358

The current offer is EITHER let Tsion defend them OR hand them off into some sort of prisoner exchange, except that the GJ bureaucrat is too haughty to call it that.
>>
>>311358
As for the hacker I really want to know what she knows about our systems. Especially if it made her quiet. So we need to have her confidence during the police questioning with Tsion.
>>
>>311377

Bahira says that as a believer, she will only lie to directly protect a life, but would like Tsion present before she shares more than her name, age, contact informatio and the like. Given the international nature of this, technically, she can just be given a random lawyer and be happy with it for now.

Ziggy is considering retirement.
>>
>>311377
>As for the hacker I really want to know what she knows about our systems. Especially if it made her quiet. So we need to have her confidence during the police questioning with Tsion.

My current vote is going to have to be an exchange with the addendum that we keep the hacker.

Yeah, I know it hurts you pride, but we need this to go away. We don't need more bullshit right now, we need some quiet years and if this will shut them up, I'll happily pay the price.

>>
>>311386
Alright. I can agree to the addendum trade. But if the prisoners on their side of the fence wish to stay they can. Also those who are accused of vioolent crimes should still be charged so it doesn't look like were hiding something.

Hammering a deal takes the remainder of the year.

# All Millennium Force offenders will be returned to Greater Jerusalem and stand trial there.

# An equal number of unbelieving youth will be mandated to remain in Misrayim so that they may learn just how bad the sort of society they advocated is.

# Bahira will remain in Misrayim, but be defended by Tsion.

The only thing fishy about this is how accommodating they've been, if anything -- although if they are sticking with the "Let My People Go" narrative, and they have, it would make sense since they're already claiming victory.

The real decision makers abroad are usually Glorified, and for them, there is no marrying or giving in marriage. The MFers are usually a bit connected at home - Daddy may own a tractor dealership or a supermarket - but not overly so. Then there's those who simply joined up because it'd help their career; this may be the Millennial Kingdom, but some things are universal.

Either I'm missing something in regards to some of the MF here, or they're expecting us to explode like Sodom at the end of the year, and this is a controlled way out to make sure their people aren't stuck here.

#Take the deal but keep our hacker for trial here.

Now, we really need to kick it up with that exponential function.

How do you all feel about having a good old pagan fertility festival? If there's one thing our people are good at, it's sinning. Not yet but, once we have a few turns into narrative causality, I'd like to run one. That way people are coming of useful age in time for the end.

I'd also like to throw some more into AI. I think the hack attempt proved that we need to understand ourselves better, especially if the world is going to be going online.

>Like I said earlier. We should have an evacuation plan in place.

A recap from the posts above:

* Almost all the MFers have been Let Go. Rather than just putting them on a bus to GJ, the event is elaborate - a fleet of rather beautifully built sailboats take the former captives across the Red Sea, slowly and gracefully, almost daring your police forces to change their minds and give chase. Of course, they don't take the bait, and this mini-Exodus is denied that one cool scene with the parting of the waters.

* Some of the MF trainees who were discovered to not be true believers have decided to stay in Misrayim and learn the ways of this culture. The parents are livid and are alleging kidnapping, Stockholm syndrome, and what have you; the issue is still contentious, and there is one of those weird doctrinal splits among believers about whether you truly have Let Their People Go or not.

* Bahira is in jail and Tsion Ben-Judah will be traveling to Osaze (he just won't say Misrayim) to act as her defense counsel. The girl has been cooperative, not giving away any information on the virus but sharing her contact information, medical data and so on.

* The virus has been removed.

* In return (although it's not phrased that way) for the MF agents, the territories of Central Africa, the Middle East, and Western Europe have agreed to send some of the people they arrested to you for a year. There may be moles, but it's unlikely. Your current plan is to train them in information technology, and use them to expand the internet in other territories -- with a few backdoors under your control.

You have 7 cabals available. One of them is required to maintain your systems. Their assessment of Bahira's actions is "n00b h4x".

There are no roving missionary teams in Misrayim.

Overall, the focus on preparedness, and the recent forced migrations, have disrupted life in Misrayim, but the place is still more prosperous than the average of other territories (+2) which makes recruitment easier.

Assigning cabals to a project allows it to be implemented. A complexity 2 job will require 2 cabals to be completed, etc. Undermanning a project gives it a chance to fail. Assigning a Villain to a project allows it to be roleplayed, possibly negating or mitigating a failure roll or resulting in bonuses on a success. Overmanning a project doesn't do much.
>>
>>312895

I probably won't be able to reply at length for a little bit but;

Current project list? Research options and how far along we are in each tree?
>>
>>312923

http://emlia.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php?n=LeftBeyond.QuestRules

Current research:

* Narrative Causality is something you have just now started to formalize. As by its very nature it defies the scientific method, it will require much in the way of intuition and serendipity, all things that do not suit an AI. Your best bet would be to cause exceptional events and analyze them after.

* Your space program is going relatively well, given that the Earth is surrounded by a canopy of water that you haven't yet been able to penetrate. The main result of this program so far has been the construction and deployment of Sky Eyes, small "satellite-subs" that skim the canopy's internal surface using active buoyancy regulation. They provide you with basic intelligence worldwide without requiring manpower. You can probably upgrade them to provide GPS-like service. Of course, Jeb is pushing for a manned launch through the canopy (it's water, so remote controlled vehicles cannot be used easily; the Sky Eyes dangle their antennas down).

* Your nuclear program is fledgling. So far, you've rediscovered how to build uranium bombs, and have found a nuclear ore mine in the Australian outback. Like with the space program, side developments have been most useful: you learned that neutron sources can tire out an Angel (and kill a human being in hours, incidentally), and Ziggy's work on all manner of explosives and toxins is well known and infamous; the nuclear program has allowed using acid and toxins as weapons safely, due to the returns in safety gear.

* Your MEC program is doing very well and has a chance of reaching its capstone. Early on, you developed a way to allow unbelievers to survived in a diminished capacity past the age of 100, by allowing them to die and reviving them with artificial pacemakers and cardiopump immediately after. This seems to rewire the soul (which is now in Hell) to the body, enough to allow one to motivate the other. To quench the pain of Hell, the ability to feel pain is removed from the subject's brain. The "intercision" procedure comes with a hefty price: the senses of pleasure and touch are likewise removed or, in fortunate cases, severely curtailed. After implantation, the MEC agent may receive prostheses with much greater ease than a human agent (since rejection is managed by the implant and the agent has had to get used to not getting tactile feedback anyway). Sometimes, there just isn't much of the original body to salvage, in which case what vital organs remain are intgrated with a life support system "pod" and the assembly is installed in a heavy bipedal frame. Your success rate for MEC conversion of either type is now approximately seventy percent. You have recently unveiled the technology to the public. Quinn, your first success, still has not "come out" as a cyborg zombie from Hell; the "posthuman postergirl" is famous for throwing wild parties, pulling wild stunts, and being a martial artist.

* Sonic weapons are a recent development; given how, in the Bible, many of Yahweh's powers seem to be sound based, it seemed prudent to study the field. So far, the chief result (other than situational systems like vortex cannons for cloud-seeding) has been the Wubbing Module, a handheld pistol-like device that converts the user's vocalizations into alterations of a baseband signal capable of generating a number of interesting effects. All your agents are trained in at least basic use, which makes the module a good nonlethal weapon capable of disorienting or inducing vomiting. Some specialists can shatter rocks, set fires, even choke an enemy or burst his organs. Your lead researcher, "Vee" Santangelo, continues to push the envelope. A fully mechanical, larger system known as the Sonic Piledriver has been used to dig into bedrock. The program is about to require a new direction as the potentialities of the handheld wubbing module have been mostly explored.

* The "Avatar Program" is an effort to study your own subsystems in order to allow your quasi-consciousness to be moved to a single body; right now, nobody knows exactly why you are quasi-sentient, and shutting down too many of your systems at once is likely to erase this emergent property. So far, your sysadmins have put in research time mostly in favor of Mizrayim's infrastructure; they suspect that they're more than halfway towards making sure that if your systems outside your own bases are shut down, you will not die with it. Eventually, you would be able to acquire a mobile physical body.

Jeb feels like a right badass for Falcon Punching the Angel of Death by jumping off a jet glider, and is in high spirits. He keeps pushing for a manned launch into the canopy, with him inside the capsule of course. If anything, he's a bit manic about it.

Quinn is a little despondent about not yet having been cleared to reveal her MEC status, most people simply believe that she has artificial lower legs. Lately, she's also been logging somewhat disjointed poetry about an all-female utopia. Other MECs look up to her, which causes some psychological pressure.

Ziggy must have gotten hurt worse than he's letting it show after the battle; he's mentioned wanting to retire (he's 91) after he trains a replacement and, after having spent a few days with Damien, has backed off from Quinn and decided that MEC implants are not from him. He always felt that he was indestructible, and has been proven wrong, so he's doubting himself.

Vee has expressed her worry that getting rid of the MFers will take away from the cultural diversity that has grown in Misrayim, but is otherwise in high spirits -- her research is going well, and there have been quite a few cases of wubbers being used where ordinarily firearms would have been. She's a pacifist, although her pacifism stops at humans and MECs, and avoidable loss of life troubles her; notably, she has managed to not blame herself for the loss of life while fighting Azrael.

As for the Heroes, of course your psychological profiles are incomplete.

Rahab "Ely" LeVey is suspected to harbor deep cognitive dissonance about her role as a female proponent of anti-feminism. As it is, her recent broadcasts have been more on topic than usual; rather than shouting screeds at Misray women for working alongside men, she's been trying a softer (by her standards) approach, suggesting that women lead men to meekness by example. Says the old lady with the 1.21 gigawatt transmitter just outside your borders.

Sarsour has been very thoroughly killed and is presumably in Heaven. You decided to not MEC him after killing him.

Abdullah "Smitty" Abdaneh is in a rest home in Greater Jerusalem after sustaining significant brain damage in a terrorist false flag operation. Jeb writes him, sometimes.

Raymie Steele has been so thoroughly shocked by his misadventure in the Enrichment Center that he has announced he'd spend more time looking after his ailing father, Rayford. As a Glorified, it's expected that the cognitive dissonance between how his capture was supposed to go, with him winning many converts from the inside before being triumphally liberated by an Angel, and how it actually went, with him being kept in a medical coma most of the time and barely escaping with the Angel, has hit him extremely hard.

Cameron Kirk Williams is intentionally being ignored by your forces, which you suspect may have driven him a bit batty. There may be a pattern with Glorified people and cog-diss.

Tsion Ben-Judah is still a blowhard.

Hey. I'm thinking 4 cabals on recruiting from TOL.I want to head off this problem and bolster our numbers at the same time. It even allows us to lie low from the authority for a while.

Remaining 2 maybe on narrative causality? Rockets invite divine retribution, quietly poking divinity might not attract attention so quickly.

Otherwise, if not that, maybe stick those two on bringing a second base online? I really think that we need to not have all of our eggs in Egypt right about now.

What are the complexities of the various researches? 50/100?
>>
>>313005

Sarsour converted.... It is always possible for Ziggy to convert, of course, but right now he's unlikely to. If he does, it's unlikely that as a good Christian he would apply his expertise in explosives and flamethrowers against you. However, his expertise in containing dangerous things could be used by believers to mitigate a NBC attack on your part.

>>313005

Recruiting within Misrayim is a complexity 2 job. This becomes a complexity 3 job if you have more than 10 cabals, because it's harder to find people with the skills you need. Sometimes, there are opportunities to get a free or complexity 1 cabal.

Recruiting from TOL is a complexity 4 job now, because they are somewhat hostile to you and because there is overhead in making sure that their former bosses still think they're working for them.

You have a base in California. Teams there have begun preliminary canvassing for taking over the territory.

You have a mine in Australia. There's a TOL base there. Teams there have begun preliminary work for bringing the base under your control, or alternatively forcing it to be closed and setting up your own installation.
>>
>>313012
>>313008

You have 7 cabals available. One of them are required to maintain your systems. Rules: http://emlia.org/pmwiki/pub/web/LeftBeyond.QuestRules.html

Complexity 1

# Harass or sabotage a Hero, or tie up a missionary team.

# Send a cabal to a region you have no presence in, to see what unique opportunities that region offers (see next post)

# Take advantage of discovered opportunties (see next post).

Complexity 2

# Produce MECs at any base. This adds one dot to the MEC cabal counter per base.

# Work your Misrayim base overtime to restore prosperity that was lost in the Plagues.

# Use the California base to produce propaganda and infrastructure to start bringing its territory under your control (1/5).

# Recruit in Misrayim. This gives you an extra cabal.

Complexity 3

# Continue pursuing space research. Space Race rules: Your progress is faster, but you must commit an even number of cabals, so 2 or 4.

# Continue AI, nuclear, or sonic research.

# Attempt to eliminate a Hero. (by force or by cleverness).

Complexity 4

# Continue pursuing MEC research.

# Recruit from the general unbelieving population or from TOL.

Complexity 5

# Estabilish a base in a region where you have no contacts

Surveyed opportunities:

Western Europe: A small independent group has been trying to restore red peppers that are actually spicy; with assistance this can be reproduced, or even weaponized (pepper spray).

Eastern Europe: A large part of the Wieliczka Salt Mine, in what used to be Poland, has survived. Reclaiming it would give you an unique environment: a large cavern in which the night sky can be simulated.

Western Russia: There is a small Cosmist cult that has formed around Yuri Gagarin's statue. They are likely to be interested in Jeb's work.

Central America: Rumors of undiscovered Mayan gold have been around for

Eastern Asia: There may be unrecovered nuclear assets. Unfortunately, they would be close to the regional "capitol" in Pyongyang.

Unsurveyed territories: Middle East, Southern America.

Any options for less than friendly takeovers of bases? I imagine that wouldn't win recruits so much as cost us men, though?

>You have a mine in Australia. There's a TOL base there. Teams there have begun preliminary work for bringing the base under your control, or alternatively forcing it to be closed and setting up your own installation.

I'm thinking we set focus to bringing their base under our control and recruiting inside the country.
>>
>>313019

Starting an outright war with TOL is an option - they HAVE been amassing a giant army, though, although they're likely to not want to risk it before Year 997 when they are supposed to invade Greater Jerusalem with it.

# Send a cabal to a region you have no presence in, to see what unique opportunities that region offers (see next post)

# Work your Misrayim base overtime to restore prosperity that was lost in the Plagues.

2 Cabals

# Recruit in Misrayim. This gives you an extra cabal.

3 cabals. So one 2/2 attempt, one 1/2 attempt?

How do you feel about that, Anti?
>>
If we put four into recruitment in Misrayim how does that work out?

I'm against pissing off TOLs armed forces. We already know non-believers can kill non-believers freely.
>>
>>313025

>If we put four into recruitment in Misrayim how does that work out?

Yeah, how does that work? I figure we can get to research soon, but we need some numbers right now. Maybe 4 in recruiting and then survey next year?
>>
>>313025

Overmanning a project isn't particularly useful; you cannot hire three women to get a baby in three months. Your subsystems already allocate personnel near-optimally. Assigning a unique strategic asset (a Villain, or a non-base facility) to a project may or may not help.

For example, using the launch complex for recruiting can get spare Sky Eyes in "orbit", which is nice but has little effect, and recruit people who are very keen on having a space program, which may give you an extra cabal or change the Space Race restriction favorably.
>>
>>313029

Current thinking is that we put Quinn on recruiting in the country and give her the go ahead to show off her augments. It solves her coming out issue partially, and might bag us some more people.

Maybe 2 cabals in country and stick the other 4 on TOL recruitment?

OP, does recruiting from general unbelieving population differentiate from recruiting in country? What's the complexity on that?

(sorry)

Recruiting from the general population outside of Misrayim is complexity 3 and I don't know why it wasn't in my text file.

Given how uniform the world is, most territories are, sadly, fungible. Misrayim if anything is interesting because not even the global earthquake manage to destroy the Pyramids.

I'm just too tired for reading, sorry. If it's comp 3 then:

1 on south America

2 on recruiting in country

3 on recruiting abroad.

I agree with putting Vee or Quinn on it.

They weren't taller than Greater Jerusalem was going to be, and they were very stocky. Mount Rushmore might have survived if the monument had been at sea level; the Statue of Liberty did survive, and is extant, although it has been modified. The big statue of Christ in Rio de Janeiro did not survive because it was too high up.

Greater Jerusalem is on a plateau about 300 meters above sea level; the top of the Temple is around 100 meters tall. Everything above that got flattened.

( That post would've been more topical a couple days ago... I have $10 on the referendum being either invalidated or the UK folk doing a do-over, FWIW)

The Greater Jerusalem government does have a list of requests to "allow Osaze a peaceful return to the fold, that we may prosper together".

* Returning all the Millennium Force agitators. This has happened, other than Bahira, but as long as Bahira is in Misrayim you're still in elevated danger of Divine retribution.

* Granting missionaries some amount of diplomatic immunity so that they may heal the country.

* Raising the age of majority to 100 for a number of things (voting, owning a business and the like) and then calling new elections.

* Restoring the prohibition on blasphemy. This has been self-enforcing to a degree: there have been a few lightning strikes, so people wanting to even have a theological debate with believers now do so indoors since winning an argument is considered blasphemy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disputation_of_Barcelona

At any time, you can offer a counterproposal.

You have noted, unofficially and through the grapevine, that it's an option; a few people have taken it. Is this something you want to mandate or make official?

People who worship Vulcan/Sethlans/Ptah/Haephestus in the appropriate professions are quietly encouraged, and told that there are some scientists who think it may be a matter of fighting fire with fire. Over the year, in some of your foundries, metalworks and machine shops, little shrines start appearing. Some are Classically inspired, some... aren't. Eventually, there are enough that statistics on relative prosperity can be run.

>>313080

Your Villains mostly take a break this year; Ziggy takes time to convalesce, Jeb takes time to build a parachute-replacement retro-rocket and gets a couple of people hurt trying it, but not seriously, Quinn enters a martial artist tournment which she easily wins only to refuse the prize on account of being a MEC, but not before breaking one of the arena's structural steel frames and using it to do a pole dance. Vee quietly keeps working, well, not quietly - a lot of people lost their hearing in the battle with Azrael, and she wants to do something about that.

Recruitment efforts in Misrayim are quite fruitful: you don't make promises of revenge, but there's little need. After all, the Angel of Death has been destroyed. A few people even thought that this would mean people would stop dying (even fewer think that it's why MECs work, but they got the timeline wrong) and your reveal of MEC tech plays into this.

Your sysadmins are bolstered by your other cabals in their work, and reach the conclusion that there is no one "special" node in your network that makes you quasi-sentient; the property emerged by just the right assemblage of network delays, sensors, and raw processing power. Network delays can be simulated; with a bit more research and some development, they believe that it will be possible for you to continue working even if all your nodes outside Mizrayim are disconnected.

You send a scout cabal to South America to do basic survey work. Sadly, the unique Andine ecosystem went away centuries ago, just as the Amazon rainforest eventually resolved into mixed woodland that happens to be a bit thicker than usual. Instead, what you find in the territorial capitol - a small town built on top of and taking the name of Rio de Janeiro, with the famous Jesus statue having been rebuilt to half scale on one of the nearby timid hills - is a surprisingly warm welcome, even from believers and the few Glorified who live there. The team moves on to check out Easter Island (which is now uninhabited, the moai finally slowly succumbing to erosion) and finally the Galapagos Islands.

There, they observe that with the flattening of the global ecosystem, the various species of finches now look almost identical to one another, but are still genetically distinct. Your surveyors send back specimens for DNA scan confirmation, which checks out, and take quite a lot of video indicating that finches sharing the same habitat and diet are still distinct. They also note that this doesn't prevent them from having a lot of rather uninteresting bird sex.

Your team sends a paper to the Answers Research Journal as well as to what secular scientific journals exist, and to their surprise, it's published, albeit with an editorial that indicates that this somehow proves baraminology. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baraminology

Tsion Ben-Judah has arrived in Cairo and single handedly taken over the old MF headquarters building. He's a theologian, not a lawyer, but he sets to work, studying the differences between Biblical law, the laws that various territories have standardized on -- which is similar, but not identical -- and that of Mizrayim.

Before even talking to Bahira, he writes a relatively well-made treatise on the need for standardization, on Scriptural guidelines of course when they exist, but also on the principle of stimulating commerce. The world is a quiet, pastoral place outside your borders, and some business that produce durable goods such as railroad rolling stock have begun to close because it's 70 years to the End anyway and there's no point in building things that will last past then.

Eventually, he starts doing his job and talk to his client. Of course, your Charter of Freedoms guarantees client-attorney confidentiality.

All you know is that Tsion and Bahira had a very brief shouting match, ended by a "SHUT UP, GIRL!" loud enough to make it impossible for anyone in the jail to not hear it.

The trial itself is brief; Bahira asks permission to plead guilty to the lesser charge of hacking, since she didn't do any shooting herself. Tsion launches into a jeremiad on how it is logically impossible for a legal system apart from God's will to exist and has to be reminded five times that Bahira is on trial, not the legal system. ( rationalwiki.org/wiki/Presuppositionalism )

Unfortunately, that escalates. The prosecutor eggs the Glorified theologian on, and eventually, Tsion gets so much into it that he first has a shouting match with the judge and finally, as he did in +93, Tsion demands that everybody bow to the ONE TRUE JUDGE or face His wrath.

The building is shielded as best as it was possible, but nobody wants to risk spontaneous combustion, so people do. Tsion orders a terrified court clerk to put into the record that this "far, far lower court" is adjourned sine die, and orders Bahira to leave with him. Bahira doesn't. Instead, she walks to the middle of the courtroom, apologizes to everyone from the judge and jury here to the sysadmins whose time she wasted, and says that what she did was wrong, although she was doing it for a good cause, and asks to stay for a year and work off the damage that she caused.

# Allow this; of course she won't be allowed near any sensitive systems.

# It's obviously a trap. Tsion wanted to take Bahira back to Greater Jerusalem, so let them.

# This is utterly unacceptable. React with force.

I mean, she can't work off lives she indirectly took, but it's something. If this is an elaborate and crazy plan to get her sentence reduced or plant a mole, so be it.

How is a year compared to the sentence she'd have expected, anyway? Assuming a guilty verdict of course.

Misrayim has no death penalty (why send believing criminals to Heaven, and, the consensus is that if you're this side of Hitler you dont' deserve Hell) so if the charges of being an accomplice to all the murders had stuck, she'd have spent life in prison. Hacking laws are fairly leninent in Misrayim, mostly to encourage network exploration without fear of retribution, so the charge she plead guilty to would've been a hefty fine and about 18 months in jail, but no more than that.

The glitch that allowed Azrael to teleport in the wrong spot in the Citadel was stochastic, although you suspect supernatural interference; the virus itself was a simple logic bomb designed to keep replacing "Misrayim" with "Osaze" and slow down the network, basically a spam bot for databases.

For once, the Greater Jerusalem establishment does not side with the theologian, and instead build up Bahira's plea deal as an example of both gentle authority and mercy. Tsion retreats to the former Millennium Force headquarters and notes that he will personally monitor all lawlessness and iniquity in the territory, and woe to those who try to stop him. He emerges dressed in a brown tunic and sandals, and starts walking around Cairo, ordering any who try to talk to him to ignore him as Osaze's evil rulers have. That makes him pretty much impossible to ignore.

Tantrum aside, this finishes the "Let My People Go" business, since Bahira is staying by her own volition; she's put to work in a peripheral data center and, apparently, makes actual contributions to the health of the network. Even though she's on house arrest, she is allowed out under supervision on some occasions, and starts a blog, "Crossover Cables", about believing life in Mizrayim. It's very hopeful in tone.

Your earlier decision to share network technology with the world starts to have some effect; Misrayim looks less "futuristic" as a result, but it becomes easier for both TOL and you to communicate, and even for people to discuss things online without fear of retribution.

>>313243

Owning a country has advantages (like building facilities) but appearing to not own a country while pulling the strings means that you don't have to defend it.

The year passes in uneasy peace; believer pundits are encouraged to see "Osaze pulling back from the brink of madness" due to your concessions. The main problem is that Tsion is basically a walking exclusion zone; fortunately, he eventually leaves Cairo and starts walking East. His Glorified body is sustained every morning by manna from the sky. He seems to be headed towards the Atlantic shore.

One day, a weather monitoring station near Tunis reports that the emergency food and water caches have been emptied; the next team sent to refill them finds an ornate handwritten thank-you note, signed "Tinkerbell". This repeats in a number of former sacred sites across the territory. A cursory logistical survey shows that a similar "invisible visitor" has toured Southern Italy and Greece, stealing supplies, leaving thank-yous and blessings, and touring places where temples used to be.

South America: As above, continued study of Darwin's Finches may offer hints at how to introduce variety in the food supply.

Unsurveyed territories: Middle East.

# See about leaving some preserved food caches at a couple of religious sites in the country. Specifically in a location where it would be difficult for a human to detect them. Set up some surveillance and other trinkets with the food. A range of valuables, electronics to religious iconography. A note that welcomes them for the stuff, and asks who they are.

That should leave one for the systems.

Back! (And carrying US issued ID, finally).

So, that's 8 cabals you can work with... or, ask for details on anything!

Given that the Heavy MEC indoor mobility modules are very Dalek-like, it's becoming socially acceptable for them to be carried around instead.

Excerpts from "CrossOver Cables" FAQ:

* Osaze or Misrayim?

The official name of the territory is Osaze, "Loved by God". However, the local government has renamed the territory to one of the names that the Israelites used for it before the Rapture. It roughly means "narrow boundary", to indicate the fact that the only fertile area was the narrow strip of land around the Nile. Now, the Nile is dry again, but most people still live there. Many of the local nonbelievers will take offense if you say Osaze, so if you are uncomfortable saying Misrayim, just be generic.

* What about the robots?

They're actually people! Sort of. The Temple Tribunal has declared that they are demons who have possesed the bodies of the dead, and that you shouldn't talk to them unless absolutely necessary. Sometimes it is, though, and they sound and act a lot like people, they talk, they laugh, and so on. Some sound very cold, and many sound very sad. It's probably because they are missing out on the Shekinah glory! If you have to talk to one, be polite and they will be polite in return. Even though it may be a demon, it's also a 10 foot tall mechanical football player that can throw a van overhead, and it's never a bad idea to be polite to that!

* What's the climate like?

Probably dryer than you are used to. Since the Lord recalled the Plagues, the Nile has stopped flowing once again. Living here means considering water to be scarce and valuable. Isn't that strange? Just one more reason to count your blessings when you return home. The people of Misrayim have built all sort of things to try to earn what we can have for free: desalinators, wind traps, vapor scrubbers for desert busses. There's even people testing stillsuits! We know that there is a much simpler solution, but if you are into industrial design, you definitely have to check these things out when you visit. The coasts are nice and warm without being too hot, remember to bring sunscreen if you go swimming!
>>
>>313776
Huh that could actually make an AI laugh. Although irony probably was not the intention.

Two cabals on MEC production, two cabals on recruitment in Misrayim. Three cabals on general non-believers recruitment. Have vee do recruitment in Ozase. Quinn on general recruitment.
>>
>>313825
And then have them all meet Omega. It is important. Is Damien still in Ziggys bunker and is she going to be a new villian or was she oneshot comedy gold?
>>
>>313776

* What's the deal with the network?

This is the most commonly asked question. Yes, it's that good ;-) Most people don't even have a TV anymore, they just use a spare computer to load video or audio from the network, and it gets there while they're watching it! You can also load live broadcasts like normal, if you like. During your visit, you will probably be asked to participate in a video game tournment at some point. Remember that some of the games, especially the new ones, are not violence- or nudity-safe. Those that are generally require a bit of fiddling with the options to enable those features, so be sure to ask your host to do it for you if you have doubts. When you go home, remember that you have to let customs go through any CD's that you burned in Misrayim and they may have to confiscate some. Don't take it personally, they have to err on the side of caution!

* Can I witness there?

Yes and no. On one hand, you are free to worship and you are free to witness to people who ask you. Open-air preaching is allowed if you don't use a megaphone (if you do, you will not get in trouble other than having it taken away, but don't be surprised to have it damaged by audio feedback before that even happens). One thing you are NOT allowed to do, is rebuke those who preach a false faith. This will get you in trouble. However, neither are those who do allowed to rebuke you! Remember, the people of Misrayim consider this to be fair. NOTE: If you hear someone scream "Witness Me!" it means you're probably at a gladiatorial club and someone's decided to bum rush someone else; the fights are nonlethal, but there's about to be a fight, so you should probably leave. If you are being harassed because you're wearing a Cross or an Ichtyos, it's probably because you bought it rather than making your own; both are popular learner's projects for people who are new to 3D printing, laser cutting, or CNC milling, so join a makerspace for an intro class! Misrayim DIY culture is family-friendly and should be a big part of your trip.

* How safe is it?

Depends on what you mean by safe. You will definitely be exposed to things that you may not want to see or hear - remember that many things are legal here that are forbidden in the rest of civilization. Put on the Armor of God, remember that you're taking this trip to learn, and go forth without fear! If you mean physical safety, Cairo and Amman are on average about as safe as every big city; be careful of the type of neighborhood you step into, leave your ID at your hotel, and be on watch for pickpockets. If you don't know where you are, remember that the police may be unbelievers but they are there to help you same as everywhere else. In the villages, people are generally very friendly, if you are polite. Respect their water conservation efforts and don't go for a walk without a bottle of water, either for you or for someone dumber than you.

I'll need a tie breaker here, but there seems to be consensus about MEC production and recruiting locally, so let's resolve that...

Recruitment efforts go well, although it's getting a bit hard to find good candidates that aren't already working for you.

Now that the secrecy has been lifted, the California base starts building MEC units and even a few Heavy chasses. By now, the technology has been perfected enough that it's gotten fairly difficult to reverse engineer; you won't have to worry about that for a few years.

>>313833

Damien and Ziggy have been spending quite a bit of time together, suggesting that Damien may be female (you have access to telemetry and medical records, but cannot access actual gender unless it becomes medically necessary, or unless any one agent tells you; that's just how your agent database is set up); he shows up for the meeting carrying her. (I don't know, taking a vote on whether Damien keeps showing up). For now, she's asked to wait outside, so Ziggy hides her in an A/C vent duct and she starts making spooky noises when workers pass by.

Your key personnel is in a secure conference room under the Citadel, which is being renovated; the construction-yard noises would mask any attempt at eavesdropping. What do you want to talk to them about?
>>
>>313882
I'm going to apologize profusely for what I'm about to show them, then I'm going to play the slowed down footage with the audio of Azrael's final moments.

The audio of Tyrant will be replaced by sampled audio mixed to sound similar as I don't know the exact effects of the voice of tyrant on humans even through digital systems.

Then we need to have them decide on what should be done with this knowledge.
>>
>>313913

The replay icon is clicked a good half dozen times before anyone has anything to say about it.

Jeb's opinion is that since Yahweh declared Azrael retroactively fallen after it failed its mission, well, that may be a way to get rid of Angels.

Quinn asks, if this is the case, what could've happened to Lucifer? Wasn't its mission to tempt other beings?

Vee thinks that it would be useful to find an expert, but where to get one? Most theologians are believers.

Ziggy hits replay again because watching the monster burn was enjoyable, and regrets that it happened too fast. Fuck 'em all, they can say what they like, it's lies or BS anyway, it's their hell so they should burn in it, not people.

Damien has been found out and hung upside down on the ceiling in one of the maintenance rooms, so now she's finding out how many ways she can medley the old Batman and the old Spiderman tunes.
>>
>>313992
Well, guess that's a few more jobs for us to work on. Testing that theory of Jebs, amd finding a non-christian theologian to answer Quinn and Bee's query.

Glad to see Ziggy's acting like his normal self, or at least acting. We will mark these down as goals for the future and have them dismissed. "Ziggy, please pick up Damien from the maintenance bay."

(I guess we can have Damien replace Ziggy at retirement. For all we know, he has been training her the whole time.)
>>
>>314040

Ziggy's mellowed down a bit after meeting Damien, overall, so there's that. Well, off the job anyway. He picks up the MECpod and goes back to testing, which involves hitching a ride on Damien's frame. Maybe this is their version of dating.

As an aside, Tsion has been walking. The guy is literally walking across the desert; it will take a long time to get to the coast, but he's been making progress. Nobody seems to know what he's doing, and he won't talk to anyone, including fellow believers who drove into the desert to get him some water.

> Three cabals on general non-believers recruitment.

vs

> Two cabals on infrastructure, one on leaving food caches around religious sites (which counts as infrastructure, really)
>>
>>314143
I'll take the two cabals on infanstructure. Recruiting from Misrayim will do.
>>
>>314143
Ok. Walking across the desert. I don't think he's getting lost. Maybe triggering some kind of divine plague? Has he ever turned around at all? What is in the direction he is walking?
>>
>>314402
>>314167

(ops, notification didn't trip)

He's walking across the Sahara, eastwards. Eventually, very eventually, he'll hit the Atlantic shore. He hasn't turned around, or tried to head towards any oasis or settlement, and is going eastwards with good but not perfect precision. In general, it certainly beats him walking around Amman and shouting at everyone that they should ignore him; did he just go nuts?
>>
>>314402
(Suggestion a single heavy MEC builds a wall in his way)
>>
>>314416
This sounds familiar. Give me a few to Google the Bible.

Final question. Does he look back at all?
>>
>>314472

No, other than incidentally when getting up after sleeping for instance.
>>
>>314514
Then seeing as he isn't turning Into a pile of salt for that minor bit. he is trying to goad us Into stoping him we should ignore. And I'm putting my vote on infanstructure and caches.

Your people help coordinate putting things back to normal after so much work went into shooting at clouds, blanketing the cities in tesla coils, and so on. All that stuff is carefully mothballed and kept in reserve, just in case.

The Nile is dry again, but by now this has no impact on daily life, except that new homes are generally being built with showers instead of bathtubs. A few people have started experimenting with Dune-style stillsuits.

One of your teams takes a road trip through the territory to put beacons and emergency supply caches at old temples and archeological sites, to see if "Tinkerbell" shows up further. They cross paths with Tsion twice, and discover that he's attracting a bit of a following.

Some people drive to where he is, get dropped off by friends, and see how long they can keep his Glorified pace; some ask him questions about theology, philosophy, all sort of random things, receiving only the occasional throat-clearing grunt in non-response; within weeks there's even a guide on the net on how to interpret those. The team deploying the supply caches takes a bit of time to clean up after the inevitable debris that this causes.

The team tries to bring a manna sample back to base, but it decomposes en route.

You have 9 cabals available. One of them is required to maintain your systems. Rules: http://emlia.org/pmwiki/pub/web/LeftBeyond.QuestRules.html

Small missionary groups are beginning to return to Misrayim. They seem to have understood that their script doesn't work, and are focusing on just talking to people instead.

Complexity 1

# With no state support, turn the Citadel into a classical style temple.

# Harass or sabotage a Hero, or tie up a missionary team.

# Send a cabal to the Middle East, to see what unique opportunities that region offers

# Find Tinkerbell.

# Take advantage of discovered opportunties (see below).

Complexity 2

# Produce MECs at any base. This adds one dot to the MEC cabal counter per base.

# Work your Misrayim base overtime to restore prosperity that was lost in the Plagues.

# Use the California base to produce propaganda and infrastructure to start bringing its territory under your control (2/5).

# While extracting ore in Australia, continue bringing the base there under your control. (2/5)

# Recruit from the general unbelieving population.

Complexity 4

# Continue pursuing MEC research.

# Recruit from TOL.

Complexity 5

# Estabilish a base in a region where you have no contacts.

Surveyed opportunities:

Western Europe: A small independent group has been trying to restore red peppers that are actually spicy; with assistance this can be reproduced, or even weaponized (pepper spray).

>>
>>314689

(At any point, you may initiate a hostile action against TOL or a territory, too, just remember that this isn't Risk)
>>
>>314713

(Apologies, I forgot something very important)

Complexity 2: Perform a thorough analysis of the scythe, either destructively or nondestructively (pick one).
>>
>>314689
Ok. Let's put a cabal for finding Tinkerbell and a cabal for building the memorial temple.

Produce MECs at all of our bases available.

And how many cabals are needed for narrative control research before I continue planning?
>>
>>314772

Finding Tinkerbell and/or taking a good look at the scythe would be a good start, there.

NC, by its own nature, defies the scientific method, and rigorous testing wouldn't go far; your best bet, as suggested by your sysadmins, is to observe extraordinary events. If none happen, poke them to.
>>
>>314792
Hmmnn. Two cabals to study the scythe non-destructivly.

And the Australian base. You did say we have three bases at the moment right?
>>
Vee finding Tinkerbell. Ziggy on the scythe seeing as it's plasma based and the boy knows plasma. Jeb to oversee the temple. Quinn and Damien if you will allow it on MEC production.
>>
>>314806

There is one base in Misrayim which has been kept administratively separate from the country's infrastructure, just in case.

There is one base in California that has made slight progress in taking over the territory. (1/5)

You have built a mine in Australia, but there already is a TOL base there; subversion efforts have been oingoing but have stalled recently. (1/5)
>>
>>314820
Alright. Continue subversion in Australia. We will use our other bases to produce MECs I believe that's all the spendable cabals at the moment.
>>
>>314815
>>314839

The cabal that refilled the food caches keeps roaming the desert and the coasts; again, they cross path with Tsion, who inexorably walks eastward still, and clean up after him a little (more accurately, clean up after the people who share the path with him for a little while). Along the way, they find hints. Eventually, they begin a communication of sorts with the person who seems to want to trade a bit of water and a bit of food for detailed historical notes and thoughs about this or that archeological site. Vee even tries to talk to Tsion, to absolutely no result.

Eventually, she has enough data points to try to figure out where Tink will go next. "Treat her like a waveform for a moment, and consider the shape of Osaze. Make it bounce around, intersect and resonate with itself. See here? There's 75% correlation between the peaks and the places where we've found Tinkerbell's notes."

A quick check of peaks that don't correspond to any known archeological site leads Vee to discover a couple of long-dried oases, and small notes about what is found there. "Make that 85%."

"So what's the tallest peak?"

Vee does the math and shows a point on the coast of Morocco, directly eastward of Amman.

And then....

>>314806

Ziggy can go from crazed pyromaniac to reasonably competent lab manager; the math and quantitative analysis is beyond him, but he's good at keeping people who ARE good at that stuff interested.

The preliminary reports about the scythe are not unexpected; like the sword, it's one block of iron; like the sword, it's one iron molecule, with no impurities.

Further study, done at the particle accelerator, shows something interesting. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron-56 "This is 100%, and I mean 100%, iron-56. That's the most common isotope of iron, to be sure, but we're talking not one bit of radioactivity from the whole thing; it's less active than what little background noise there is from the radioactive ore in the crust. We thought the instrument had shut down! To put it simply, this is the coldest iron possible. The only natural source for something like this is theoretical; a particular type of star that can only form in the very, very far future of the standard model of physics, near the heat death of the universe. " https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_star

Ziggy is pretty sure that the scythe came about by supernatural means, of course, but in case it hasn't, it's something from the end of the universe.

>>314839

Work at the Australian mines continues; the precious canisters of semi-refined uranium ore are brought to a safe location. You have enough of the stuff to make a dirty bomb now. The people there are starting to be friendlier to your cabal.

>>314839

Jeb has launched enough Sky Eyes that aerial survey of the rebuilt Citadel is very unnecessary; instead, he adds a few personal touches to the rebuild, like an array of very strong laser pointers that illuminate the water canopy a slight shade of purple.
>>
>>314905

Jeb does a good job; the Citadel will retain the ability to turn into a fortress within a week, if necessary, but to the rest of the world it looks like a Greek or Roman style pantheon, with a peripatheos and alcoves for as many of the old gods as care to apply. Where the statue of the main god of the temple would be is instead the concrete slab tallying each victim of Azrael, and a small urn containing what could be recovered of the ashes of Azrael itself (Pure carbon, with nothing special to it). Believing Misrays have not applied for an alcove to Yahweh.

#Add it anyway.

#The guy has a giant temple 3 hours away, doesn't need one.
>>
>>314923
Let's not piss of the meteor throwing dick who mines dead stars for farming tools. Add a minor alcove for him too, if the people or NJ dont like it we can easily swap out for another god.
>>
>>314905
You know what. I'm going to take inspiration from Sara. Have someone try and channel divinity from a pagan god of their choice and put it into the scythe. Preferably it will be a farming god and test it on harvesting crops.
>>
>You know what. I'm going to take inspiration from Sara. Have someone try and channel divinity from a pagan god of their choice and put it into the scythe. Preferably it will be a farming god and test it on harvesting crops.

I can dig it. I can also dig trying to build ourselves a wriggly statue for vulcan.

Good votes, thanks for that while I was out of it. Hopefully Tink turns into something interesting. Good call on putting Vee on it.

Current thought are that we either need to get moving with radiation/sonics or put one more turn into AI since that would mean that we, at the very least, aren't going to go offline from project number.

Doing some spying might be a good ideas as well, and finding the other half of the genetics tree to unlock that is an option.
>>
>>315216
Hmmnn. We need to boost our numbers. We still have TOLs "packet" team under our care and protection. I'm guessing that we should see if there's anything we can use them for. Be it recruitment from TOL, convincing TOL to manufacture arms so we dont have to, or announcing our presence to the disadvantage of the seven.
>>
>>315229

I agree. It might be too costly to directly recruit from them at this point, but we could at least move into the same neighborhoods as them and put on our finery. I want to head off project number and grow.

The 10 cabal hump is ugly, since our maintenance needs increase; we need to either settle at 9 or blow way past 10. Thoughts? I think we need to pass 10 badly.
>>
>>315242
It won't be that bad. Just have to keep recruitment up at eleven. Which won't be too hard. Any thoughts on having Damien be our new high lethality basket case with a degree in lab safety once Ziggy retires?
>>
>>315288

I'm in favor if Ziggy is. We should really ask him.

We should also really tell him that he should take a MEC, ask what he wants out of one. I don't want to be too push with him, but conversion or hell isn't a very nice choice.

Maybe if we go down AI far enough, brain in a jar might be an option? Would VR/performing a similar function to us be more his speed? I doubt it, but it's worth asking.

Maybe freezing him?
>>
>>315304
Ziggy seems pretty set on not being MECed, let's not push the character and risk backlash.

As for freezing, it seems to be what he plans on doing. Seeing as he isn't likely to convert and doesn't like the MEC idea.
>>
>>315315

>As for freezing, it seems to be what he plans on doing. Seeing as he isn't likely to convert and doesn't like the MEC idea.

Perhaps we could investigate something a bit more advanced than freezing, some kind of suspended animation.

Either that or ask him if he wants to take a gamble on a God? There are pagan deities that guide souls to various places after death, if we fished up enough people once the temple is built, we could try a ritual and prayer to send him.... somewhere that's not the usual two places.

It really depends what he wants.
>>
>>315315

Ziggy, after having spent a lot of time with Damien, has decided that he'd rather get frozen if that's all the same for everyone. "And don't let me change my mind, you do not want the guy with the nuclear secrets to change teams".

>>315216
>>315042

You aren't sure whether praying over the scythe did anything, but it's as sharp as it was when Azrael was felled. Harvesting crops with it makes for a good feel-good video if you want to share it; the crops harvested that way seem to be edible, have no ill effect, and notably haven't dulled the blade any even after a day of strenuous work.

>>314992

All the alcove, save that of remembrance, are the same size; one is set aside for Yahweh. You discreetly and through unofficial channels ask for skilled artisans to contribuite a small altar, statue, or similar for their chose n deity.

# Include Christians.

# Don't.
>>
>>315340

My current thought is that at the very least we might get something interesting to witness if we include a statue of Yahweh, lots of people praying and all that.

That said, he's a cunt and just tried to murder a whole lot of people in the country. I think it'd be profoundly cruel to the families of all those that died if we were to put their murderer on a literal pedestal.

I'm not sure how to feel, and I don't terribly want divine wrath right now, but my gut says:

# Don't.
>>
>>315335

That has long been a goal of the MEC program; as it is, some of the MEC implants have been able to keep the person in a sort of a low-power metabolic state which is hoped will slow down physical aging; should you manage to keep the world going past +1000, a more permanent solution can eventually be found. The process is however not nearly reliable yet.

>>315304

The "brain in a jar" route is the logical extension of Heavy MEC tech; the issue is still that pain and pleasure would have to be severed.

ZIggy has inspired pretty decent loyalty in his Desolator Troopers, and quite a few are happy to invade Hell if that's what it takes; one even suicide-grenaded Azrael, after all.
>>
>>315369
(An we love that guy for the thumbs up)

>>315365
Eh. He has a point. If the Christians protest we can remind them of the punishment temple. No Yahweh pedestal.
>>
>>315365

The alcove is left empty, with no explanation. Nobody needs one. Azrael is not referred to as a servant of Yahweh, but the point is clear.

Perseverance Day fast approaches.

# Have a big ceremony.

You make an appointment with Damien and Ziggy; one comes in carrying the other, as has been the case recently. This time around, it's Ziggy riding on Damien's shoulder, and someone's going to have to rebuild a door in the conference room to fit a heavy MEC frame.
>>
>>315449

Can we have both?

"Ziggy, you've made your will clear and it will be respected -"
I have a request and a question for the two. Anything on your end Sara?
>>
Increased chance of retribution but, if we ever wanted some NC field stuff to investigate safely, pagan revelry would be a good way to do it.

Anti?

Also, we need to do some spying. I'm nervous.

I'm thinking that (hopefully) one of the reasons NJ was so accommodating was because they encouraged the MF to do that shit, then got caught off guard when Azrael just fucking died when they were expecting the country to be cowed.
>>
>>315479

>I have a request and a question for the two. Anything on your end Sara?

No, other than thanks for all the good work, I wish you'd get in the fucking robot, Ziggy.
>>
>>315486
XD that's not going to happen apparently.

"I have a request, that you put in notes all researched data you have undocumented for your apprentice or successor, however you prefer the terminology. as well as upload the relevant information on that grenade you threw which melted the angels wings, into my database.

>>
>>314905

Tsion has almost finished his long trek; even though there's nothing on the map, Vee and her team figure that they might as well use a ruler to figure out where the Glorified theologian will hit the sea, hope that he walks into it and doesn't come back out, and head there.

The Glorified walk indefatigably at a brisk pace through the desert heat, only needing to stop for four hours of sleep a night; that is a remarkable feat, but doesn't get you places any faster than a group of surveyors and scientists with dune buggies.

>>315483

In a sense, they got what they asked; the Angel of Death struck Egypt, and then their captives were let go. Your observation with the Glorified is that it takes a long time for them to rationalize things that don't go exactly to script, but they do eventually.

>>315479
>>315486

"Get in the fucking robot" causes the two of them to start laughing like idiots even as they blush from the roots. There may have been some of that, or a lot of that. You could know by reviewing Damien's telemetry and inferring from cardiopump rate and other indicators, but you probably don't want to. What's the request and the question?

>The Glorified walk

>The Glorified

Is there more than one and is it most of the misrayim population?
>>
>>315520

>What's the request and the question?

I don't really have one, just what Anti wanted.

Does he have anything that he wants taken care of once he's frozen?
>>
>>315516

Ziggy has announced his retirement early, and has done a good job at documenting things, if you don't mind a bit of an obsessive emphasis on causing the largest possible body count. After meeting Damien and getting over his crush on Quinn, he's mellowed out... well, at least somewhat.

Damien is in fact not going to take over for him; she doesn't have the genocidal instinct. "But Kat does, she's actually waiting outside, if you want to meet her. She's one of my Desolators."

What Ziggy wants is to spend the last year of his life with Damien somewhere on the coast, possibly with access to scuba tanks. Damien lets Ziggy say what their plan for the long-awaited vacation is, and he answers "Get in the fucking robot", to which the Heavy MEC sticks out her tongue at your terminal.

>>315563

There are approximately two million Glorified all over the world - that's out of two billion people. It's those who came back after the Rapture, for one reason or another. The current Glorified population of Misrayim is one; most are in Greater Jerusalem.

>>315483

"Safely" remains to be seen, but yes, that'd be one event to look at... if you dare.
>>
Anyway;

Anti, how do you feel about # Have a big ceremony.?

I worry about the attention but, we need events to work on NC. It's stalled otherwise, and I think we really, really need to get that moving.

#Done, no questions asked.

>"Safely" remains to be seen, but yes, that'd be one event to look at... if you dare.

I'm thinking we make it a quiet opening, we could use some more good years. I didn't even intend to build the temple for a few years yet. We can always institute a festival later.

Tinkerbell might yet yield something to observe, anyway.
>>
On second though;

#Ask if Ziggy wants us to try some actual black-fucking magic- necromancy with his corpse once he dies. We could put together a classical ritual with Hecate and see what happens.

Be lighthearted about it, I seriously doubts he'd want to try, but it's an option.

Inb4 came back wrong.
>>
>>315595
Ok, festival in a few years.

>>315591
"Enjoy your vacation Ziggy. Please send Kat in for an interview and meet and greet on the way out."

Well thats interesting. Did the rest of the glorified population leave after Azreal died? I'm trying to minimize a Sodom Gomorrah situation.

>>315637

Ziggy isn't so much planning on dying as he plans on being frozen; it's a slight drain on your resources, but he's earned it.

A few preliminary notes on using MEC tech to raise disposable techno-zombies exist, but that line of research was never pursued.

Kat turns out to be one of the Desolator Troopers who died to Azrael; fortunately, there's already a Heavy MEC size hole for her to enter the conference room. The MEC frame is... definitely a new design.
>>
>>315661

># Just open the grounds.

The flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long...

Let's just chill the fuck out.

I am glad that we "Let their people go".

What kind of diplomatic immunity did they want for missionaries?
>>
>>315661
I want to say just open the grounds, but I'm a little worried some people might make it into an unruly celebration when we shouldnt do so yet.

"If I had eyes I would be blinking. You must be Kat. Nice to meet you."
>>
>>315661

(This worked out; the Desolator in Red Alert 2 is a guy in a rad suit, the Desolator in Red Alert 3 is sort of a 40k dreadnought)

Kat's profile indicates that her hobby is cooking, and that she's got an almost perfect record of keeping that separate from her job in the toxin corps.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the desert, Vee and her group is looking around for where they predicted that "Tinkerbell" would show up; Tsion is on the horizon, slow but inexorable.

A brief debate over whether they're one and the same reaches the conclusion that no, Tinkerbell was visiting archeo sites and leaving notes WHILE Tsion walked the desert.
>>
>>315681

>but I'm a little worried some people might make it into an unruly celebration when we shouldnt do so yet.

We should probably make another concession of some kind, somewhere. Not really sure. But I'd rather not live on the razor's edge when the blade is invisible. We need breathing room to experiment with extraordinary events.
>>
>>315685
Ok, let's hope whatever Tinkerbell is isn't supernatural and just a punk.
>>
>>315703

I think it's going to be supernatural, to be honest. We'll see how this plays out; I'm not sure we have the divine capital to interfere much if the glorified decides to do something we don't like.

I think we need to get Australia or California going. We need the attention elsewhere, we need to let Misrayim simmer and diversify our holdings.

Let's set to work expanding next year. California or Australia?
>>
>>315721
California. We can cause more controversy over there than we can in Australia faster.
>>
>>315681

Kat introduces herself, and gives you a full report over the last project that Ziggy followed, that being analyzing Azrael's scythe. Like most recent non-volunteer MEC troopers, she's under continual mild sedation while she adjusts.... or she's supposed to be anyway; telemetry indicates that her frame's sedative reservoir has been punctured and is empty.

"My personal assessment, since the damn thing sliced me in half? It hurt. It hurt worse than the four minutes I spent in Hell. So much for the whole cartoon thing about super-sharp swords cutting you without you noticing."

>>315689
>>315680

What the Greater Jerusalem government demanded is diplomatic immunity; missionaries would be sent back to their home territory should they break Misray laws. They dress it up in the language of "not being unequally yoked" and so on, but that's what it boils down to.

>>315703

Vee's team eventually finds an archeological site, of sorts... this one is recent, however, post-Appearing. It looks like a time capsule. In it are some surprisingly well preserved children's toys from just before the Rapture; they clearly spent many years in the sand. They come with a series of notes.

(Very haunting short story set in the same universe)

The survey team quickly puts the time capsule in a conditioned container so that its contents do not deteriorate.

"This is not for you" Tsion says, having walked all the way to the survey site.

# Put the time capsule back.

# Ignore.

The survey team came in a small convoy of dune buggies and a Unimog truck; the Unimog is lightning-proof.
>>
>>315736

Give us some time to read the story and we'll get you a reply on this, unless you want it time sensitive?

>What the Greater Jerusalem government demanded is diplomatic immunity; missionaries would be sent back to their home territory should they break Misray laws. They dress it up in the language of "not being unequally yoked" and so on, but that's what it boils down to.

I'm perhaps willing to budge on this with the exception that murder or sabotage leading to a murder (effectively the same thing legally anyway), is a no-no; and they shouldn't expect to just walk home if they do it.

Thoughts, anti?
>>
>>315736
I'm going to need a little more time to read before I post.

To kat: "That's unsettling."

Give them a list of laws that includes the restrictions of what they are allowed and not allowed to do while preaching and traveling. It will likely be an extensive list.

Be back after some reading.

>>315749
Agreed, if a missionary causes death directly or indirectly, they will be tried according to Misrayim law by Misrayim and should not expect to be released until the end of their sentence.
>>
>>315759
>should not expect to be released until the end of their sentence.

Realistically, we may have to cut deals to have them serve in NJ, but it's something and anything to cut pressure right now would be good.
>>
>>315770
It's something we might be able to give up in negotiations. But hey, what are you going to do? Their "king" literally has the whole world in his hands.
>>
>>315770

"Only a reprobate mind would think that missionaries could violate the Sixth Commandment."

The negotiations go back and forth; the crux of the matter seems that the GJ government wants it to be legal for Christian missionaries to shout down adherents of other faiths. ( http://deadstate.org/christian-group-vandalizes-ancient-mexican-archeological-site-claiming-its-linked-to-devil-worship/ )
>>
>>315736

Well, that was morbid. I'd say we leave it, I don't want a shitstorm over this. Let's maybe follow up on tinker's requests for extensive notes?

Man, you're make a great argument for mad max. Not that I wouldn't have already if need be.

>legal for Christian missionaries to shout down adherents of other faiths

Thoughts, Anti? I'm not terribly keen on this. I'm assuming they want it in all public spaces?
>>
>>315793

We will not allow that. But we could give them the right to set up shop outside buildings and give non-megaphone sermons so long as nobody in the area has a complaint and they are not obstructing anything.

Thoughts Sara, we can't let them sack homes and buildings. And we're going to have to give them something.
>>
Also I'm not done skimming through the story.
>>
>>315801
>so long as nobody in the area has a complaint

Eh, I don't think that's going to fly. I think it just needs to be a case of as long as you abide by (x), you're okay. Don't get in the way, don't block doors, don't use megaphones and you're good.

>Thoughts Sara, we can't let them sack homes and buildings. And we're going to have to give them something.

Free speech in public spaces, no barging into private ones and shouting, or at the very least they need to leave if asked. They can give sermon (read: scream at unbelievers) in public spaces without amplification.

Our people are good at ignoring them anyway.
>>
>>315807
This I can agree with.

Should diplomatic immunity follow a three strikes rule and revoked kind of policy?
>>
>>315805
>>315807

The Glorified scholar tells Vee's team to put the time capsule down; of course, they've already taken pictures of the notes. The OCR in the van has translated to text, and the radio modem has sent the contents to you. The time capsule also contained a number of old toys, a plastic shovel, and various other knick knacks that are 900 years old but are just as oddly well preserved as everything else in the Millennial Kingdom.

# Acquiesce.

# Argue.

# Stall to see if Tinkerbell shows up.

# Grab the loot and cheese it, they have wheels.

The Greater Jerusalem government is satisfied that Osaze's leaders have agreed to once again allow preaching, and issue a call for volunteers. There are very few takers, strangely enough, although you can expect missionary teams to start showing up early next year.
>>
>>315832
Also I'm done with the story.

Ask Tsion if we can make a draft a couple copies and make a book? I still think we should put them back.
>>
>>315832

>>
>>315844

Yep. If they'll take the offer I tossed out, I'm happy with it.

# Acquiesce.

>>
>>315844
Huh. And I was under the impression it ment near free reign. Really should have paid more attention in highschool.
>>
>>315851

Your surveyors put the time capsule back in the hole in the rock where they found it; Tsion tells them that it matters not whether they do nothing or anything or everything, for "it is complete".

Vee loses her patience. "Look buddy. You're being weird. Again. You've being weird at us since you first came here. And you know what? We've let you! If you didn't notice, Misrayim is the to-go place for the weird. The difference is that we're not assholes about it, unlike someone I could name. Now maybe go be weird somewhere else?"

Unsurprisingly, Tsion thunders at Vee to be silent, so she does. One sermon later, the survey team is still there.

A girl walks out of the water and climbs up the rocky beach. She's maybe twelve years old in metabolic years, but tall for her age, with very long black hair, and wearing a modest blue swimsuit. She seems to be in a daze and her lips are swollen and parched.

One of Vee's team gets a bottle of water. It's evident that this person is heavily dehydrated, possibly after a shipwreck. Tsion is still preaching at them, and when one of the team moves to help the girl - she's just about to collapse - he tells them to not move until he's delivered his warning; msotly, he's quoting the last chapter of Revelation.

# Give water to the girl.

# Let Tsion finish.

>>315902

"Dammit, Omega! I brought wubbers, we can - no, we can't, can we."

"...and we shall reign forever and ever." The scouting team has to watch the Glorified man finish his canned speech and turn around while the girl falls on her knees, then on her face. Only then can they quickly turn her on her back and give her water.

The team's medic goes over this person and takes care of what's urgent. They get some fresh water into her, and do resuscitation, but she's terminally dehydrated.

"Anybody here a universal donor? Dammit!"

"Tsion! Wait! What's your blood type!"

As he starts walking away, he says something about the blood of the Lamb. Vee drops her gear and runs in front of the Glorified man. "Listen! That little girl! She's going to die if we don't do something!"

"What little girl? There was only you lost sheep there. Return to your home. Tend to your hearth. Think upon what I taught."

# Load her up and get to the closest settlement with a clinic.

# The first aid kit contains saline solution; inject that to rehydrate the tissues.
>>
>>315888

Eventually, a deal is hammered out that would give missionaries the same immunity conferred to diplomatic aides. Take it or leave it? Note that the GJ government is not promising anything in return, strictly speaking.
>>
>>315926

># The first aid kit contains saline solution; inject that to rehydrate the tissues.

If the medic thinks it'll help. I am not good with squishy things.

# Load her up and get to the closest settlement with a clinic.

After. Once everything that can be done has been done, consider prayer.

>Eventually, a deal is hammered out that would give missionaries the same immunity conferred to diplomatic aides. Take it or leave it? Note that the GJ government is not promising anything in return, strictly speaking.

I'll take it.
>>
>>315936
The IV can be administered as she is taken. Leave someone behind with a com so we can wait for Tinkerbell. Get that girl to a hospital. The fact the glorified can't see her makes me think we found a god.
>>
>>315926
I hate your dice. Loving your work though.
>>
>>315950

>I hate your dice.

Right? Just fuck my shit up.
>>
You know what. We're a logistics computer. Let's act like it and send a crew of our best medics to help her at the hospital.
>>
>>315936

An hour later, the girl is out of danger, having been rushed to a clinic after an emergency saline injection; the saline was for eye issues from the sand, and not perfectly sterile, but that did the trick - if she catches a staph infection later, it can be cured.

She hasn't said a word yet. The rest of the survey team remains to wait for Tinkerbell, leaving the time capsule alone just in case.

Eventually, the girl falls into a natural sleep, and upon waking up, introduces herself as Jenny; Tinkerbell is her nickname, or so she says. "I was... looking for Atlantis. It's a real place, you know. I took a boat and... current pulled out, then there was a wave and... I'm sorry. For the boat. And for the food. I'll work, I'll pay you guys back."

The scouts still on the coast think this looks extremely fishy; they break out the survey tools and see no traces of any boats or wrecks.

"You left all those notes?" Vee asks. Tinkerbell nods. "You're a pretty smart kid for being a giant dumbass."

She gets a raspberry in return. Crisis over, or so it would seem.

Coordinating an airlift takes between two and three seconds; within the day, Vee and the rest of her team are taking a bath (still a bit of a luxury item, but well earned after weeks in the deep desert) and the mystery person has been checked out. As far as your doctors can tell, she's out of danger, she will not be given antibiotics unless necessary, and incidentally, she's human; two lungs, two kidneys, all the usual bits in the usual places. She's mostly staring at everything.

>>315974

Given that your territory has one of the world's few remaining deserts in it, Jeb vetoed helicopters a while ago; instead, what you do have for bush flying instead is a number of STOL aircraft that can at least glide to a safe landing if the sand mucks up the engines. They can't hover, but they're faster than modern helicopters and more reliable. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fieseler_Fi_156 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonov_An-2 )

Of note, the Grand Army of The Other Light has no plans at all for an air force.

>>315974

The caches were set up; it's what allowed Vee's team to track Tinkerbell in the first place. There were a few other cases of use, mostly people who got very stupid and very lucky going into the desert without a LORAN radio.

One of the doctors sits down with Jenny/Tinkerbell and asks her some questions, incidentally sharing his life story with her because she insists on being fair about it.

What you get is that Jenny is from Liguria (southern France or northern Italy), she claims to be in her twenties so if anything she's a little behind metabolically, she's never been sexually active and is not interested, has no family history of genetic diseases or in fact no family at all as far as she can remember, a minor case of confusion between her own memories and the bedtime stories that her "granny" (an ancient woman who, apparently, used to smuggle cigarettes between France and Italy in the 1960s, and spent the Tribulation in a hidey hole) read her. She says that she was looking for Atlantis because she couldn't find Neverland. When asked why, she says that this world is rotting from the inside, and she wants to get away from it, that she went home by tracing her steps and then home wasn't there anymore. The doctor commiserates; you can't cross the same river twice, and all that. Tink protests that yes, you can, it's just really hard, and clearly she wasn't good enough at it.

Direct interrogation shows that this person can, in her own words, "just about make out the words from the beeps, but not quite". However, she does a passable R2D2 impression by whistling. Writing works well, although she's a lot more used to handwriting than typing.

She's Jenny but doesn't like to use that name anymore so please call her Tink, she's uh a girl she guesses, and a very clever dumbass according to the nice lady with the cool boombox gun things, Poseidon was a thing way before Atlantis, she knows that the world is going to blow up soon which is why she wants to leave, she'll stay for a while but she has to figure out a way to leave, she's twenty-ish but does a pretty passable sixty if you let her borrow some makeup, and she was originally looking for Neverland but that went nowhere so she went with the second best option.

"When's the last time you saw a firefly?"
>>
>>316062

Communicating via terminal is a little slow; you compromise by showing the words on a screen, which she can read without problem, and having her write down her answer on paper in front of one of the cameras. Her cursive is excellent, but writing block letters also takes her a while; still better than hunt and peck.

(in her twenties = metabolically 12 or so, does a passable sixty = thinks she can look 17-18 http://emlia.org/pmwiki/pub/web/LeftBeyond.Aging.html )

>>
>>316106
>>316093

Jenny says that she was born around twenty years ago, her hints went as far as where you found the time capsule but just knowing heading and bearing isn't enough, she's been looking since her "grandma" kicked her out after having a freakout at her, and she figured that Atlantis is real because a lot of those old stories check out as far as she saw.
