After the rest of your squad goes it’s separate ways, Itachi-sensei and yourself head to the front gate of Konoha at a leisurely pace.

“So, where are these “Guiana Highlands”, sensei?” You ask, trying hard not to sound accusatory. You’ve seen most maps of the Land of Fire and it’s surrounding environs- no place called the Guiana Highlands was marked.

“Oh, it’s down south, near the Land of Whirlpools. It’s quite remote- perfect for your training.”

You make a rather unladylike face… he’s lying to you!

“You, uh, might want to sit down, sensei.” you caution.

Itachi quirks an eyebrow, but leads you over to the shade of an old growth tree, and takes a seat.

“Very well. Sit with me.” he invites.

You start at the very beginning- testing your Chakra nature with Danzo.

From that point you cover everything that seems relevant- providing demonstrations of the basics of your Stellar release, while explaining some of the techniques you’ve developed. He’s attentive and an active listener- he really does seem quite interested.

Eventually you reach the confrontation in the woods with Orochimaru, and how his words affected you.

You take a small breather, just to emotionally prepare yourself before continuing. You haven’t dealt with some these raw emotions yet- but you don’t want to break down again, especially in front of Itachi-sensei.

“Orochimaru- we figured he would come, but it hadn’t occurred to us that he’d target you genin. We were so sure he was here to target Konoha’s leaders- but it seems we were wrong. I’m sorry that happened to you, Tsuki. It shouldn’t have ever happened.” Itachi explains, looking frustrated.

“But, I won’t interrupt your story. Please, continue.”

You continue your story after the exams, explaining your interactions with Danzo, and the revelation that Orochimaru had been involved in the creation of your abilities, and how your family had been complicit.

“Which is when you left the village- It’s barely been over a day. I wouldn’t blame you if had excused yourself from the exams altogether- but then again, that wouldn’t be the Tsuki I know.” he says, giving you a comforting smile.

Finally, you vent about your last conversation with father. He’s the first to hear about, and you can’t help but let the anger seep into your voice, just a little.

“Yoru Norihime…. He’s a passionate man, for sure. His anger towards the Hokage is understandable- not many non-shinobi are privy to the Fourth’s council. He does want what’s best for Konoha- and that’s admirable. Just be sure to help guide him, Tsuki. Men of that much passion can become…. lost within it.” he comments, again looking rather sad.


He stands- and offers you his hand.

“Thank you for being honest with me, Tsuki. In return, I’ll be honest with you- you’ve passed. We already knew about your father’s sentiments, and his dealings with the Daimyo aren’t exactly secret. The information about Orochimaru was very unclear, so we knew something happened that hadn’t been explained. Why use this as a test of trust when tsuki has already proven her trustworthiness and loyalty to konoha on several other occasions/missions.

What the Jounin and Hokage look for would in promoting Genins to Chuunins would be combat ability, leadership ability and dedication to konoha.

We've already shown the 2nd right from our first mission which likely already placed us on the hokage's radar for possible consideration. Combined with our personal declaration to Minato and infront of the 3rd separately, they'd have seen our dedication to konoha. The tests just confirms that our combat abilities are also up to the task of being Chuunin.

The 3rd round are usually exhibition matches after all. The examiners will likely have already shortlisted the candidates they feel derserve to be promoted over the course of the 2nd segment, which is after all the most lethal and dangerous one which replicates live shinobi vs shinobi missions.

It’s more about repetition and skill- and less about memorization, like jutsu can be. Regardless, if you wish to learn, I will not object.” Itachi responds.

He flips to a page in his notebook with a calendar- with multiple dates circled.

“We’ll have roughly four weeks. How we utilize that time will be up to you- but we’ll need to keep an eye on the date. I have us getting back to Konoha about two days before the exam- enough to meet with Hinata and Nori, and to make preparations based on who your opponents might be.”

“I understand, sensei. Give me a few moments to think it over, and I’ll work it out with you, alright?” you ask.

“Of course. We still have a little ways to go, regardless- so take your time.”

Now that we're locked with Itachi, I think it's best to go FULL BORE on Ninjutsu, just ramp that shit to hell and back. Forget our opponents, THERE WON'T BE A STADIUM LEFT WHEN WE'RE DONE! Itachi thinks even for us mastering more than one elemental release it too much, WE CAN ALREADY USE THREE OF THEM! We should work on ninjutsu until we literally can't anymore because of the chakra drain, then work on stamina. Any gains in stamina, ninjutsu, or stellar mastery make us better in every way.
