/qst/ - Quests

They usually call you the broken horn Leader, and you've got used by now, so you can't help turning your head when someone says something's broken.
That doesn't matter now. Oh, not now. You gaze into the horizon, at the sharp line between sky and blue, from the giant, framed, half-spherical window of the colossus of a ship that is the Greathorn, where your kin, the himehorns, reside to survive over the sunken world.
Very few is known about Leateli. These few facts, however, lean on very hard proof:

-She murders for some reason.
-Widely unpredictable.
-Brown hair and eyes, clothes are stitched rags of brown shades that don't match at all, looks like 14.
-Never alone.
-Highly dislikes those who cry.
-If she dies, it's the end of the world.
-If she sleeps, it's the end of the world.
-She's coming to the Greathorn, ETA: 11 min.

And there is one solid fact you can't shake about you:

-You are /not/ ready for this.

You are the broken horn Leader. You run the Himehorn Support Center from your high room in the Greathorn, to help and keep track of your kin wandering outside.

And, as it turns out, everyone else.

"You somehow lured the cursed nohorn straight home. Congratulations."

It's a small voice, the voice of your small Leader. You turn around from the gigantic half-sphere, and stare straight into the small, frowning horned little thing in a small black robe that is your Leader, the Leader of your Herd. You stand speechless.
As you enter the Support Center again, both Roomba and Ado turn to look in unison.
"Leader is ordering a mass evac." you say blankly, still unable to swallow the whole thing.
Ado grimaces. "For all we know of the girl, she could blow us the fuck out of the sky if she feels like it. Or make us kill each other as we sing, I dunno."
"Do we have a plan?" Roomba asks. She DOES seem worried.
"Look," says Ado, "she doesn't know who you are. Or your voice, like, at all; that thing-" he points at the U shaped desktop "swaps your voice between each call automatically. Nobody knows who you are."
"So I could send anyone I want to meet her." you state, "calmly".
Roomba stands. "I could go. I can't exactly die, broken horn Leader, so you shouldn't worry." She manages a faint smile.
>>
>>636642
"I'll be frank. I can't see this going any other way then one of us being dead. And if I have to start the end of the world just to keep her from murdering both Horns and No-Horns for fun, I'm going to do it. Now prepare the vanilla pudding cake and milk, and clear me some room for a spinning contest. I'm going to make sure she at least ends up puking when she kills me."

Himehorns? http://manga.clone-army.org/wiki.php?entry=horned_ones

Unless she intends to crash her ship, Leateli is going to land at the main bridge at the front of the Greathorn, expecting for you to meet her with vainillia pudding with vainillia filling... and milk. You who, in this situation, could be anybody else.
And whoever is you, is going to face an unpredictable, invulnerable psychopath completely on it's own.

You evaluate your choices:

>Ado: A big, tall, very muscular blonde nohorn with very long hair who has yet the face of, almost, a kid. Along Mina, her partner, they provide tech support for the Greathorn in infrastructure and electrical devices and circuits, leaving the anima components of the ship for Sansui to monitor and fix. What little you know of his background is that he used to infiltrate himehorn caves in order to bully hornmothers for fun, without harming them, and that he stole and raised a snowhorn called Umo, who's very familiar with you.
>Roomba: A Fake nohorn. Ever since overpopulace and food resources became an issue, the West House of the Templar Faction started manufacturing Fakes who require only electrical energy to thrive and help. Since no haremhorn (or anybody in the Herd) wanted to be a mile near you, Roomba was assigned as your personal assistant. She's a head taller than you, blonde, and always wears glasses and a white duster. You know nothing of her past.
>White: The second himehorn Arma, made from the very last musclehorn. She's six years old, very tall, and is currently your only muscle available for deployment. Her Arma condition means she can use GOG gas, an invisible muscle around her that she can manipulate at will to great effect.
>Leader: When everything was a mess and you weren't there, she managed to lead the herd on her own by sheer cold thinking and numbers... and she's barely a year and a half old. Still a smallhorn, still naive and stubburn, but the little thing trusts it's numbers.
>You: You are the broken horn Leader, and you used to complain about everything and be extremely blunt in the way you said things (even when you were right. ESPECIALLY when you were right). Instead of exile, you've been offered the chance to run the Support Center in exchange for food and very, and barely, reluctanctly accepted. That was two months ago. You don't complain about details anymore.

"She can die. She really really can die." It's Ado. Roomba stares at him, blankly. "We need a fucking plan, not heroic sacrifices."
"How do we plan against that?" You frown at him out of curiosity.
He shrugs. "I fix stuff, build stuff, and make some very solid burritos. And that's fucking it, and I'm proud of it. But you've been running this shit for like two months now, so you do the thinking, I do the tinkering, and Roomba does the cheering." He blinks, then stares at the ceiling. "We might really need that now."
>>
>>636861
We'll meet her. We started this, we finish it. Have Roomba and Ado and White withdraw. The herd needs them. We do this alone.

And, I'm going to bed. Its late here, but I'll be back hopefully in 20-22 hours. I'll check in in the morning.

Sorry I can't play longer tonight. My computer doesn't like to give me updates on Ask.
>>
what is this
>>
>>636896
Don't worry, we are running slow this time! I couldn't catch a break last week, so let's try slow pacing for once instead. =w=

>>636709
Also this sounds really nice.

>>636905
A quest about horns and headsets.
>>
>>636861
Well, I still think it'd be a good idea to give her some cake and milk. Maybe that one with the SPECIAL RECIPE we have? Then after that, maybe play a game together. Like that spinning game she likes. I only hope she doesn't GET SICK from that SPECIAL CAKE we have. Or, goodness gracious, spins so hard she BREAKS THE GLASS and FALLS OUT THE WINDOW to her HORRIBLE, yet well deserved DEATH.

(when nobody gets what we're talking about)

Roomba, drug the cake to make her feel sick. Ado, loosen the panes of glass so she'll fall out the window if she so much as touches the glass. And someone get White. She'll be the one challenging Leateli. Or shoving her out the window, same difference.
>>
If she dies, the world ends, so that can't happen. If she's alive she's probably going to kill us all eventually. We can't force her to stop and anything to get her way from us non-lethally is a stopgap measure. So we'll have to talk her out of it. The best way to do that is to find out why she's killing people so lets ask her? On the off chance her answer is boredom ask Roomba how she'd entertain herself, she could theoretically live forever too right? Maybe, just maybe having a friend might be enough to stop her?

You close your eyes. "I'm going. Alone. Roomba, Ado, withdraw. Take White with you."

Both stare at you with wide open eyes.

"Are you fuckin nuts?" says Ado, looking at you as if you were trying to swallow a banana whole without taking off the skin. "You know that girl just drowned a haremhorn in a toilet after taking a shit there, right?"
Roomba slightly flinches at this. Yet as she turns fully towards you, she speaks plainly and fixes her eyes on yours.
"If you don't let me go," she starts, "you would be being selfish. Leader doesn't want nohorns in charge of the Greathorn, that's why she has Ado teaching the haremhorns. She wouldn't let me run the Support Center" Her eyes downcast. "And I'm fairly certain no other himehorn would be so willing to help the nohorns like you do. So... if you go... you would be risking the safety of all of them."
Ever since the Support Center started, you've been running it. It's your home; it's where you sleep. Where you've heared people slowly dying on the other side of the line more than a few times over. And you are very aware that, by nature, both the hornmothers and haremhorns won't either care enough or be able to deal with the stuff every morning throws at you.
Yet you calmly open your eyes.
"I started this, I will finish it. Bring that vainilla cake to the main bridge entrance. Then withdraw with the hornships; the Herd needs you."

"So you'd rather be selfish." You ignore Roomba's lingering voice as you walk past her, straight towards the left staircase of the triangle shaped entrance; the door opens with a blunt sound as you reach the top.
"Maybe she needs a friend." you say to yourself out loud, walking though the white, deserted aisle as it turns into a pseudo-cave enviroment. You didn't. You never did. But maybe if she cared about someone, she wouldn't want the rest to suffer.

ETA: 4 min

----------------(╯3╰)--------------------

The door opens with another blunt sound; this is the main bridge room, the first room everyone sees as they enter the Greathorn unless they are invading or using the hornship exclusive hangars. It's wide; VERY wide, this time, unlike your room. The wall that gives to the bridge is almost entirely made of glass, it has rows of small doors across the floor right under a slim wooden roof that goes from side to side, barely covering one meter above the glass doors. The silence feels eerie, but you know this is where you wanted to be. Couchs and tables, too big for most hornmothers, are scattered evenly and ready for the occasional visitors, mostly templars from the West House and other factions seeking bussiness. Yes, this is where you wanted to be. Even if your stomach feels like wrapping around itself.
A blunt sound freezes your spine from feet to horns. You turn; it's just Roomba with the vainilla cake. You are completely determined, now. It is settled: If this has to be it, if you have to go, you leave this world chewing cake.

"Leave it there." You point at the table most near the center of the room, surrounded by a black couch. The vainilla cake with vainilla puddling filling is soon resting over the table along two glasses of milk; that's a lot of vainilla.
"Can someone day from eating too much vainilla?" you ask the Fake, your voice shaking a bit.
She stops, her pupils drifting upwards. "Yes." she states, finally looking at you. You swallow. She giggles. "You can die if you eat too much of anything, broken horn Leader."
"But I'm alive."
She opens her mouth... then slowly shuts it and looks to the sides. "Are you really sure about this? You might get bullied a lot, and I'm really good at making people feel good." She pats your head. "Go. Go with White and the Herd. Ado is wrong; I do have a special trick he isn't aware of, I'm not exactly alive after all." She sits in the black couch, crossing one leg over the other. "Go. I won't die."
>>
>>637900
"No. We are the dreams and she is the dreamer. If I am right, she and the others who will destroy the world if they die are the only real people left. If I am wrong, she is still a child who needs a friend. You can't act like me at all. She will know is not me, and then she will hunt every menber of the horned ones until we are extinct. I have to do this... even if I would greatly prefer to run. But... you can give me a hug before she is here if you want. And... the horned ones, we are all basically desperate for afection and... humans call it platonic love? Yes even the Leader need that. You are smart, you will figure something up. Now give me that hug and go before I get paralysed by fear."

No. I need Ado to keep calling Leaderhorn, and I need you to keep White from coming back here and killing Leateli.

Besides, maybe you can't die, but it would be hard to get you back if she blows up the Greathorn.

And I need to know everyone is safe. Everyone.

"No." It's like your voice slaps Roomba in the face. "I don't know if you can die or not. Either way, it would be a nightmare putting you back togueter if that human blows up the Greathorn."

She's still not standing; it's like she's fumbling in her brain for a better excuse than inmortality.

You close your eyes. "And I have a big favor to ask of you." You think it over for a bit; then look at her. "I need you to keep White from coming back here and killing Leateli. She can, she might, and if you stay here with me she will."
"If I stay and you go, she won't." she retorts, raising a finger.
"I need to know everyone is safe. Everyone." you deadpan, almost in a bad mood. "You are in "everyone". So go." You close your eyes shot. "GO."
She stares at you blankly.
...then asks: "...Why you, and not me?"
"Because," you turn towards the gigantic glass wall, sunlight dimly bathing the stands and furniture, "I run the Support Center and you don't."
"Can I stay with you?"
"If you stay, then one of us is going to be the broken horn Leader, and the other is going to be a toy."
"You might be a toy for her anyway." she replies sadly, still sitting.
You shrug. "Id rather not think she came all this way just to take my horns off and stab me with them." Behind the glass wall, a shining dot looms in the distance. You turn towards Rooma; she's gazing at it too. "She will be here soon. Go. White is a serious threat now."
The Fake smirks sadly, then finally raises from the big black couch. She walks past you.
"Roomba."
She turns.
"Hug me."
She does.

ETA: 2 min

(Cont!)
>>
That faint blunt sound lets you know the door is closed and that you are alone, all alone now.
Roomba is smart; she'll figure what to do with White. It's not that White isn't aware of what Leateli is or means, what you really don't trust are her reflexes. After all, she's an Arma, and Armas are /not/ good at measuring their strenght.

ETA: 1 min

Stomach hurts, legs shake, you wish for more of those pills Ado gives you. Or a plushie. Either is fine right now.

ETA: 30 seconds.

Screw this. You rush across the empty hall towards the now big dot. You are meeting Leateli straight on, you can't deal with this waiting anymore. Let this end. Let this end right now. As you go across the door, get to see the ship very clearly; a hornship, not unlike any of the ones the Greathorn harbors. Usually, the haremhorns would be here with red and green sticks to help the ship land, somehow; it was always fun to see. There's no one, now. Only you staring from the ground, the hornship hovering above you, and the fierce sound of rotors dying down. You stare at the squarely shaped platform as the hornship lands and shadows it; after a while, it finally stops.
A door opens from the side of the main cabin, a small stairway slips from it and hits the ground; Leateli pops from behind. You stare blankly; It's her. Bulky brown hair squashed by a massive leather hat, with it's pointy tip broken near the end. She stands and stretches from the staircase, moaning as she does; as she walks down, you feel her short, stitched leather clothes are like different cultures forced to share the same small space, ready to kill each other and any time. As she walks down the staircase, the door behinds her opens and closes, over and over, as if possesed until it's finally smashed against the ship and sealed. You knew it; she's not alone...
Leateli finally hits the ground and turns toward you in one fluid motion. She fixes her very wide open, dead eyes in yours, as you miss your breath.
Then walks up to you as if dancing.
"Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!" she waves at you cheerfully, right in front of you.
>>
>>639832
Hello, Leateli. If I knew you were bringing guests, I would have prepared more cake.
>>
>>639832
Wave back.

"Welcome. Was your trip here pleasant?"

Motion towards the comfy area.

"Come on in. I have that cake I promised."

We're gonna treat her like a guest, welcome or not.
>>
>>639891
You wave back at her, even if she's less than four steps away from you.
"Welcome. Was your trip here pleasant?"
It came out a lot more cold and metallic than you had intended; yet she's still smiling.
"WHY?" she blurts out, you pause and think it over a few seconds.
"Traveling in ships makes me dizzy. Come on in, I have that cake I promised."
"OK!"
You sloooowly turn from her dead eyes and smile, then get one feet after the other into the big glass wall of the Greathorn. You can't help but study it; it's semi-spherical, like most of the windows of the colossal ship, and framed in gold patterns. You really wonder where did it come from; maybe Leaderhorn would know. As it grows bigger on you, you can't help but glance at Leateli dancing behind as she follows you, and opt for staring straight ahead while not thinking it over too much. The glass door opens; after you go inside, it opens and closes on it's own a few times. It isn't long before the two of you are facing each other in the table.
Yet as you leave her vainilla filled slice in front of her, her dead smile and eyes stay fixed in yours. You wait for her to talk; she doesn't. The only thing you hear is your heart beat.
>>
>>639955

Can I ask you a personal question?
Why does everyone say that you can end the world?
>>
>>639989
"Why does everyone say you can end the world?"
You really wanted that sentence to be polite. But you failed, and now those big brown eyes are piercing yours quizzically.
"Cuz I am!" she replies, simply, and finally stabs her slice with a fork. Odd; you had expected her to eat it with her hands. Yours are soon under the cake, and you dare to close your eyes as you drown in the vainillia flavor. Well... if this is how you are going out, then you might not even notice.
Yet that notion is crushed as the slice is over and your eyes reveal a world in which Leateli is still there, staring at you with a clean grin and dirty lips.
"DO YOU LIKE HOOLA HOOPS?" she blurts out, sending a particle of cake straight to your eye.
>>
>>640030
"I'm more of a fan of planes that Loop-de-Loop, but I do enjoy them from time to time."

I'm not sorry for that reference.
>>
>>640030
I've never tried it, but I've seen them. How do they work.

Just keep her talking. Hopefully she'll tell us something helpful.
>>
>>640078
In the Link, the only straight reference to Leateli said only one thing: to not engage her, to not kill her. Leaderhorn said it herself, even if she couldn't explain itt. Yet, for something so extremely important as to WHY you shouldn't do neither of these things, there's not even a clue, not a single detail about this girl that resembles a doomsday device. You'd dare think this is the best lie ever if it wasn't for Leaderhorn.
"Never tried it. I've seen them, though. How do they work?" That last sentence was so cold it almost wasn't a question.
She stands. "I'll show you!" Leateli swiftly turns to her side and opens both palms upwards. She stares into the emptyness for a while, but suddenly the void in front of her distorts and she has a big plastic ring in her hands. You raise your eyebrows. Before you know it, the ring is spinning around her just over her hips, as she moves her butt from side to side. She stops, surrounds you with the hoola hoop as you blink and then drags you to your feet. You slowly look upwards towards Leateli, who's like a head taller than you, grabbing the ring with both hands.
"Try." she says under her dead eyes.
You wonder if it was some sort of joke or reference. "Try" was the motto of someone very important. Yet you stand and spin your hips and the ring falls to the ground, and as you pick it up and try again Leateli is laughing at you from the black couch, cutting another slice of cake with a knife.
"So," you keep the talk, as the ring falls again into the ground, still spining, "why did you come here?"
"To kill you." she answers before taking the fork to her open mouth.
>>
>>640197
wait what
>>
>>640197
"Rather dedicated of you. I'd have assumed that killing people would have gotten boring eventually. What keeps you going on killing?"
>>
>>640197
But why kill me? Or anyone? The world is dying, horror is everywhere and everyone is just barely hanging on. Why cut short what little life is left?

And what am I doing wrong with this hoop?
>>
>>640268
Your brain freezes behind your black eyes. Death. It has been death everyday, ever since your feet clawed the entrance to the Support Center, but it was death from the other side of the line, from that nohorn lady trapped inside a sinking SU-BA, from the other side of reality. Now it's here facing you, and you find yourself wanting a hair brush, another slice of cake, a haremhorn's lap pillow, a pipe, the things a simple hornmother wants and gets. You feel tired; really tired. Because it's death all over again. Death.
death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death death

You pick the hoop back up again.
"The world is dying," your voice is fresh, but sturdy"nohorns are everywhere, and everyone is just barely hanging on. Why cut short what little life is lift?" The hoops falls, as expected, and waves all around your feet. "And what am I doing wrong with this hoop?"
Leateli "hmms". "Try giving it a headstart with your hands before moving your butt, it can't gain momentum from your hips alone!"
You do as she says, and soon the hoola hoop is peacefully spinning around your waist. Leateli claps.
"You got good at it so fast! That is awesome!"
You grin at the bizarre girl, giving the ring a few spins and then letting it spiral around your legs.
"Why do you want to kill me?" you ask Leateli.
She shrugs "Why shouldn't I?"
"I run the Himehorn Support Center, helping both my kind, yours and theirs" you point over her shoulder, she briefly turns and then smirks at you, "to survive this new age of water and water and ships everywhere, even if Leader doesn't want it, even if the West House doesn't want it, eve-"
"So?" she asks, simply, staring at you with her dead eyes almost quizzically. "I want to kill you, it seems fun."
"Why?"
"Because I'm bored?"
"Why is it fun to kill?"
"I'll let you guess that one, you have three chances."

>>640384
"Because you have no friends and killing is the only way you know how to interact with people?"
>>
>>641569
"Let me think that for a while." you say as she stands. You manage not to flinch by keeping your mind white. "I've never killed anyone. I put lot of effort into keeping them alive so it's all new to me."
She leans on the wall next to the couch, dimly raising one feet, not too far from where you are. Then opens a palm upwards at you. You close your eyes and take a subtle, deep breath.
"Does it feel like cake tastes?"
"A-ah!" she moves one finger from side to side.
"It wouldn't be because it's not boring, right?" You open your eyes. "That wouldn't even make sense."
"Last try!"
She gently pushes herself from the wall then her wide dead eyes fix on you, as she moves one feet back and forth like a pendulum.
>>
>>641841
Whatever you guys answer with, when she inevitably comes at us to try to kill us, we should remove that pin we have to keep our horn in place and use the broken end as a sort of makeshift shank.
>>
>>642006
Pretty sure that results in the guys in thermoptic camo who follow her around shooting us before can put a scratch on her.

I wonder if the answer is something nihilistic like "they'll all die anyways so it makes no difference if I'm the one killing them" or sociopathic like "No one is going to stop me so why not?" But my bet is on something like "everyone dies in a unique way"

When we almost inevitably get the last question wrong do you think we will have time to respond? Will she tell us the right answer? I'm just trying to think of nice ways to teach a sociopath ethics.
>>
>>642125
We have automatic defences, we may not be able to kill her but we can kill the other guys.

That cammo becsme useless once they entered the ship.

>Snap your fingers and make the crazy ship AI kill her troops.

>>643584
The Greathorn's AI has been widely unpredictable ever since the himehorns started filling it with rocks and dirt. There is one known pattern though; when a smallhorn goes missing, it shuts down all lights and lits single a lightpath leading to it.
It has caused a few accidents already. The haremhorns are still trying to make it highlight the hornmother's food stashes.
>>
>>641841
Wait! That second one doesn't count! I was thinking out loud.

I bet the invisible people know why. I wonder if they'd tell me for some cake.

Ok, second guess. Is it because you get all worked up when you do?

>>644014
Thanks for the vote of confidence, not a haremhorn. I wish I felt the same.

As far as violence goes, I'm against it. Partly because its too much like bullying, and partly because if we do it really well, the world could end.

And ending the world is super bullying.
>>
>>644066
>And ending the world is super bullying.
No apocalypse! Apocalypse-horn go home!

Interesting idea though, that it excites her. All the mentions of Laeteli having "wide, dead eyes" has me picturing her as having A yandere expression
>>
You manage to grin. "That second one doesn't count, I was just thinking out loud." Leateli tilts her head to the side. It seems oddly "cute". You walk out of the hoola hoop and towards the table as Leateli stares from the wall, and you can still feel her eyes as you cut another slice.
You offer it to the void.
"Whoever tells me, get's a slice. How about it?"
The void remains a void, and soon you find yourself chewing on the slice of vainilla with vainilla filling.
You turn towards Leateli and swallow. "Second guess, then. Is it because you get all worked up when you do?"
"Yep! But-" she raises a finger, "that doesn't count."
You grin at her, feeling your legs shake. "I see. So... one last chance?"
She nods.

Do psychopaths need a reason to kill? Do they enjoy it? Do they have their very own reasons, do they add their own logics to it? If that were the case, then isn't this just slow turture? Plain, simple sadism?
You take another deep breath. A single drop of sweat makes your forehead itch as it goes down.
>>
>>644568
"Because you want to."

Well, boys, I don't see anyway out of this one, other then to shank the nutter with our fork.

Godspeed.
>>
>>644568
The voices tell you to.
>>
>>644568
Does it make bad things stop happening? To you? Bad things like being alone or scared or nightmares?
>>
>>649540
Good one! Maybe that'll get her to say a bit more at least
>>
>>649626
That's what I'm hoping for. The hula hoop gambit didn't pay off.
>>
>>649540
This isn't a guessing game; a guessing game has clues. You couldn't possibly ever hope to figure out just what's going on inside behind her freaky eyes.
So you speak without guilt."Does it make bad things stop happening? To you? Bad things like being alone, or scared, or nightmares?"
She simply stares at you after your last word, as if you kept on talking. Every second starts to weight, but you find yourself not caring enough.
"If I," she starts, walking towards you, making you walk backwards while keeping your eyes on her's, "didn't wanted to be alone, why would I kill the company?"
"Maybe you don't want to get hurt." your back hits a wall. She leans her face close to yours... "Maybe you don't want to be scared, so you kill, and end up all alone, but you don't want to."
She smiles. Silence ensues, as you look at each others eyes.
"I'm never alone, broken horn Leader. I know you can tell." Still fixed on her eyes, you feel some pressure on your head. You feel a faint sound below and then glance to the side; she's holding your silver pin in her hand. Then she slowly backflips from you, walking away as she sways your pin from side to side.
"Wrooooong! You lost! Naaaaanananananana!!" she tosses the pin. It clanks in the distance, you try to keep track of it but it's too slim. When you look back, Leateli is looking at you.

And you feel... tired.

Annoyed, even.

You puff your cheeks, then grin at her. "Why all the show, then? What's the point, you are going to kill me right?"
"Do you want me to kill you?"
"I'd rather if you didn't-" You think over that nohorn word. Roomba says it all the time... "-thank you. Now tell me."
She smiles widely. "Overpopulation."
...you let that sink for a while. And, then, raise an eyebrow at her.
"Overpopulation." you clarify, the word tasting sour.
Leateli nods. "Overpopulation."
>>
>>649950
So you're trying to help? But how do you chose who gets to live on?
>>
>>649950
Didn't enough people die when the world drowned?
>>
>>649950
"Overpopulation."

(puts head on desk, proceeds to thump desk with head)

"Leateli. Assume I am a complete imbecile. Please explain, using your own words, why you feel the need to lend a helping hand, so to speak, to this ongoing apocalypse. While you are still one of the most lethal beings in this world, I somehow doubt you can beat nature in killing sentient creatures, even without the whole 'Kill me, the world ends' malarkey."
>>
>>650011
"So. You are trying to help." you wait up her nod. It doesn't come. "Tell me. How do you choose who gets to live on?"
"By distance?" she shrugs.
"I wasn't that.. near." your voice dies down as she starts walking up to you. You feel your feet tremble, then smile wildly as she comes. "So!, why all the show then? Does bullying help with overpopulation?"
"You know, you guys should be thankful!" you don't see it coming. You feel it, burning sharply through your chest. "If it wasn't for me, you'd have to find excuses to kill each other!" You feel dizzy. Very dizzy. You glace, as she walks away, towards your chest; it's the pin that kept your horns togueter, the one she just through out into nowhere. You feel it deep, very deep inside. You kneel, then look up; Leateli is fixing her dead eyes on you, no longer smiling, no longer moving.
"You know," she starts, as you feel the cold, "I'd kill myself too. If that didn't end the world."
She's soon walking out through the great glass wall, the door opening and closing like six times over.

It's quiet.
>>
>>650123
>(puts head on desk, proceeds to thump desk with head)
lol'd
>>
>>650130
Do they leave? On their ship?

If they have, try to get to our office or somewhere with communications. Tell everyone what we learned. Leateli travels will other people who can't be seen. She kills because of overpopulation. Then find a comfy place with our stuffed toy.
>>
Well. That's a girl who's messed up in the head far beyond our pay grade. It should be noted that we should absolutely keep that pin in until someone who knows what they're doing gets here. Right now it's the cork on the bottle that is our body, keeping the important stuff in.
>>
>>650167
You wait up until you hear the sound of rotors litting up in the distance, and it gets long, waaay too long and you feel sleepy... it does happen, though, and slowly but surely you manage to stand on your own. You think, as calmly walk at at the door, as it opens with a flush sound, that Ado should let you wear the headset everywhere, without the wire. It would be nice, you'd get to walk around through the aisles as upi are doing now, while running the Himehorn Support Center. Maybe you've grown bored of your spinning black chair.
You stumble. It feels like the white aisle is never going to end.
>>
>>650202
Call up Leaderhorn.

"Leateli has left. Repeat. Leateli has left."
>>
>>650202
i hope there are still some snacks at our workstation. It would be nice to have some with our stuffed toy.

And they we can get comfy and have a much needed nap. We deserve one. We worked hard.

And we got our pin back, which is nice.
>>
>>650239
>And we got our pin back, which is nice.
I'm not sure stabbing us with it counts as nice.
>>
>>650041
A lot did! A very very lot, actually! However, since it's all water now, the main food resources are the sealed warehouses inside the sunken cities. Some use either submarine types or hybridships in order to scour the bottom of the endless ocean, those warehouses were meant as a temporal measure for resources until someone found a way to manifest food over the blue. And it has been six years already...!
>>
>>650239
Work comes first, Steve, especially when it comes to the safety of the herd. Don't leave the job unfinished.

I'm going to assume Leateli's going to learn that eventually
>>
>>650262
Of course. Make the call with what info we have, Then snacks and stuff toys and comfy naps.

where we probably bleed to death, but we tried

>>650247
I'm pretty sure that Broken Horn Leader is not thinking too clearly right now. And shock makes people think of trivial things.
>>
>>650239
You walk without thinking, one step at a time. You glance back, once, and giggle a bit; it would be hard to get lost now, with that long wet trail you leave behind. Then it's one step, then another, then one step, then another, every step a bit less real than the last.
Until you find yourself infront of the big black monitor.
You sit, and flip the hard red button; the screen comes to life.

LEADERHORN: Deployed
CAPTAIN: Deployed
WHITE: Available

You put the headset on, and mark Leaderhorn's number again.
biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip
biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip
biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip
bip
No answer.

You track White's ship. She always uses the same; Roomba should be there, too.
Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip
biiiiiiiiiiip
"Hey, are you okay?"
"Leateli travels with people that you can't see. It's very odd. She says she kills becaose of overpopulation, but I think she's just another mean nohorn bully."
"Pff, I could have guessed as much! So, how did it went? Can we go back now?"
You nod to the air. "Tell everyone to come back, Leateli has left. We might be able to keep track of her for a while."
"Ok, good job!"
biiip

You grab your stuffed Leaderhorn, and look for some snacks around you. It ends in sighing; there are only crumbs.
Oh well, whatever. You are far too sleepy anyway.

So, this the end of the quest, or what?
>>
>>650374
Nope Back tomorrow (about 10 hours from now)

Goodnight Haremhorn. Good night Anon.
>>
>>650436
Ah, good. Kinda like this game. Hoping Brokenhorn makes it out all right.

Night, Steve. Night, HornPoster.

You stand next to the broken horn Leader, who sleeps peacefully in her black spinning chair, her hornpin deeply sunk into her chest.
It's like staring straight into another reality. You can't help but look for details that give the prank away.

You are Roomba, a Fake. Given that the broken horn Leader was exiled by her herd and no haremhorn wanted to take care of her, they got you into the Greathorn. You've been bringing her snacks, assisting her, and dealing with her tantrums ever since she sat in that chair; those died on as the days went.

"Hey try blowing into my eyes, I think I can not blink likeoh shit what the FUCK." Ado stops dead on his tracks. You turn it him, still trying to figure out the joke. He walks up to the broken horn Leader, and quickly gets a finger up her neck. "...she's fucking DEAD man hoooly shit!".
You raise an eyebrow at Ado, then turn towards her. "Leader?" you pat her head, slowly. "Broken horn Leader?" you shake her shoulders gently. She doesn't bulge, so you shake her faster.
There's no answer. Funny, she's still wearing her headset; this time, she died on the other side of the line.
Your eyes start melting
.
-------------------------(╥_╥)---------------------------

From the smallhorn Leader's room, you can see, through the giga window, hornships still heading towards the hangar over the endless, sparkling ocean. Daylight bounces into the blue, straight into your glasses.
"Why?" You ask, still not turning back. "Why can't I run the Himehorn Support Center?"
"It's the Himehorn Support Center, not the Fake Support Center, Roomba." the small voice feels cold, perhaps even eager, to you. This time you turn to face her, the tiny Leader surrounded by her haremhorns, most of them staring blankly at you. "I cannot allow my kin to depend on yours, to become useless. Not now. Not without the musclehorns." You think of Ado, but you keep your lips sealed. Regardless of being a rather rash individual, he has been helpful, and fast at it. So you swallow it. "I have made arrangements. A ship will take you into the Second, you will be provided with water as means to reward you for your efforts. From there, you will be on your own." She seems... very serious. Maybe everyone suffers their way, you think. "Does that seem fair to you?"

You just stare down at her for a while, still feeling your shoulders heavy. "I wish... I wish I could just run the Support Center like she did. Will you?" you look straight into her eyes. "Will you help the nohorns, like she did? T-there was this thing with the donations, it seemed-"

She shakes her head; you stop.

At least you don't need to ask.

-----------------------(╭╮)-----------------------

As you still try to figure out why, two Raindancers were appointed to escolt you into the hangar. It's not like you would want to harm the himehorns, or that you could hijack or sever the link to The Link if you wanted; so you settle for protocol.

(Cont!)
>>
>>652090
That was cruel, first you show her surviving and then you kill her.

Is over the Quest ended.

EL FIN
>>
>>652108

She wasn't surviving She was in shock and bleeding to death.

At least now, no one can bully her.
>>
They walk by both your sides, so you turn to one and then to the other. Raindancers are always haremhorns. Unlike them, however, they wear long, white robes infested by black symbols. As far as you know, the robes are black on the inside and thick enough to hide a very wide plethora of odd devices.
"Do you like carrots?"
...and they talk. You look down into your right, straight into the small haremhorn, who's eyes dart back and forth between you and the road.
"I don't!" You hear from your left. "I wasn't talking to you!" "But I don't anyway!" "But I knew that already!" "No you didn't!" "Yes I did!" "No, I never told you!" You would be dizzy by now if you could, from turning so much from side to side. "But I'm talking to her!" "No you weren't!" "I'm going to make you like carrots if you don't let me talk to her!" "How?" "I'll put carrots into your mouth until they don't fit anymore!" You feel the slow, peaceful flow of silence. "That wouldn't work." someone says at your left.
You are about the say you don't mind carrots as the light hits your face, bouncing into the hangar's wide, metallic floor and straight into you.
You've only been here once, or twice at most. It's wide; if you look into the sides, it takes some work to figure out the ends. After all, the Greathorn is massive, and there's a lot of movement now since some of the hornships are still coming back. Someone tugs your sleeve.
"This way! And I do like carrots!"
"Did she ask you if you did?"
"I'm betting at least /ten/ would fit!"
"Where?"
You finally figure out where you are going. It's a ship you are very familiar with; the one the White rescued from sinking into the depths. Both the young nohorn and the tall, short-haired Arma are there, the nohorn working up the kinks and the Arma is... standing over her arm, both legs wide open towards the ceiling. She's looking quizzically at you. Soon, you walk up to them. The Raindancer clears her throat.
"This is..." she takes off a small piece of paper. Her eyebrows rise; the other Raindancer turns the paper upside down, the first clears her throat. "These are Preah and Robert, Robert is the Pilot. In this ship, they will take you into the Second. You belongings and" She frowns. "I can't read this."
"Maybe it says my belongings are inside the ship already?" you point out, rising a finger.
"It's like someone wrote this with a carrot." she says, nodding at you. "Is there anything else you want to do before you go?"
>>
Hmm, should I make a new thread? We went into autosage already.
>>
>>652141
"Mind if I say goodbye one last time to the no-horns?"

Also I've got to ask this to you directly, haremhorn. Was this scenario (Brokenhorn getting killed) planned out, or did we just stumble into it?
>>
>>652166
There is nothing planned out. I have a few ideas of what might happen if something happens, but If I intended to railroad my quest I would give only specific options, and it's all write-ins here.

>>639538

This would be it, in this case.
>>
>>652166
Might as well add on to this.

"May I keep Brokenhorn's horn? It'd be nice to have a memento of a good friend."
>>
>>652181
A new thread might not be a bad idea then, even if the board moves slow
>>
>>652295
Ok! =w=
>>
>>652309
I'm back. Are we starting a new thread? Please link here for easy finding.

>>652249
I'd rather have her silver pin. Its a little less creepy to me than one of her body parts.

>>652166
We should say goodbye to anyone here that we interacted with regularly.
>>
>>652515

>>652318

Sorry! Was posting. =w=
