The squat creature- Sasori, you guess, making the other one Deidara- doesn’t bother to look at him.

“Remember the mission, Deidara. We’re here to get the girl- not to play around. I don’t plan on keeping everyone else waiting.”

Deidara sighs.

“You need to lighten up. Life- like true art- is fleeting.”

“Not now, Deidara.” Sasori retorts- again showing almost no emotion.
Deidara huffs, but otherwise doesn’t comment.

You hear Shikamaru speak quietly, but clearly, as the two argue.

“They seem like they don’t get along- and if the blonde one is making the explosions, we can use that to our advantage. Those puppets won’t hold up long to that kind of abuse.” He theorizes.

“If we need to, we can retreat to another part of the house. We might lose someone if we don’t have the advantage when we do so- so be very careful ordering a retreat.”

Eyeing your opponents carefully, trying to consolidate what you know. Both of these men are world famous criminals, with bounties to match- if Danzo’s bingo book was any indication. Thankfully it may give you some insight into their abilities- though it would be foolish to assume it would cover anything close to their full potential.

Sasori of the Red Sand- Easily the more famous of the pair, he’s supposed to be the greatest puppet master Sunagakure ever produced- and if the puppets you fought earlier and the ones before you now are any indication, you believe it. Though he’s certainly… unique looking, he doesn’t seem to need to issue orders to the puppets- they seemingly act on his will alone. They are also strangely resilient for puppets, but you aren’t sure why. Beyond his puppetry, his skills are a mystery.

Deidara, formerly of Iwagakure- A user of the Explosion release native to to Iwa, Deidara fled his homeland after stealing some sort of forbidden technique. What this technique was, however, is unknown. He seems to use special clay in many of his attacks- and is even able to craft some autonomous creatures out of clay. This clay seems to either be his release, or amplify it- his explosive charges are seemingly how they were able to break into your home.

Shikamaru’s plan may have some merit- but even your foyer may be too small to fully contain Deidara’s explosions, or even safely maneuver them into hitting Sasori’s puppets.

The front door is open- and you could order Shikamaru to disengage the iron shutters on the doors to take the fight outside. They’ve likely outlived their usefulness at this stage, though you would lose the backup Father’s Ultimate Home Defense System offers….

The rattling of Sasori’s puppets snaps you back to reality- a mass of them are flying straight towards you! Meanwhile, Deidara’s hands seem to be in pouches wrapped around his waist- but he hasn’t done anything yet.

The quickness of the puppets is enough to catch you off guard- but it seems your teammates were waiting for such an event to occur. Several blasts of water crash forward, hitting several of the puppets head on, while Fuu is spraying layers of thick webbing from her mouth, weighing down those it covers. Overhead, the smaller launchers fire in unison, although they seem to do little on their own. Choji and Shikamaru are using explosive tags to do damage where they can- it seems their individual styles aren’t much help against this type of foe.

The puppets, however, retreat from this initial defense- revealing swarms of clay bats coming straight your way!

You can almost imagine Deidara’s reaction to Sasori’s statement- but you’ve already inhaled deeply, kneading large amounts of fire chakra in your stomach. You blend in stellar chakra for good measure, and feel the heat skyrocket in intensity.

When it reaches it’s peak, you exhale-

“Great Stellar Fireball!”

The smoldering blue orb sails downwards, towards the two Akatsuki, who dodge-

However, it seems they’re just as unfamiliar with your techniques as you are with theirs. The Great Stellar Fireball bursts upon impact with the floor, belching searing hot stellar flames in all directions. Deidara is thrown by the force, while Sasori jumps out of the way- the flames, however, catch his robe, burning it away.

What lies underneath is very strange- his back is a giant mask, along with a large bladed tail, broken into segments. Looking closely, you can even see what look like mechanical joints.

Whatever this is, it certainly isn’t human- or Sasori, most likely. He is a puppet master, after all.

The puppet rights itself, using all four limbs to attach to the wall like a spider. Deidara, meanwhile, stands- obviously a little charred from the attack.

He looks mesmerized- but also frustrated.

You try and fail to hold back a laugh.

“I won’t be outdone- your art may be beautiful, but in the end it will be mine that is superior!” He growls, hands reaching down into his pouches. You can see what looks like small mouths on his palms- that’s….. Kind of gross, to be honest.

Now isn't the time. Deidara wold make a great addition to ROOT, but a lot of that is that no one would ever suspect he was working FOR Konoha, and it'd be totally obvious that he doesn't NEED a reason to randomly show up and explode things aroud the world. Part of that is not letting everyone know what we're doing.
At best, this current meeting can convince him he'd get along with us better than his current co-workers, and prepare for a double-cross later. If this invasion goes south I could see him jumping ship and looking for a place to hide out from Pein.

So right now if we want him we should:

“Open the shutter to the ballroom! Everybody, tactical retreat!” You order.

Shikamaru nods, and points his remote towards the door to your right- into the house’s west wing.

The iron covering retracts, and everyone begins to run towards the door. Fuu and her Takigakure companions cover your retreat, firing blasts of water and webbing and the encroaching puppets, along with strange, spider like Sasori.

It isn’t enough, however- whatever this puppet is, it’s incredibly nimble. It lunges towards Fuu, tail blade extended!

What it meets instead is the blades of one of the Taki genin- Kegon, you think.

“Go! I’ll hold them off- engage the next series of defenses!” He grunts, Sasori’s tail blade weighing down on him.

“No! I won’t leave you- no friend gets left behind!” Fuu cries out, turning to try and save her companion.

It’s the other Taki genin, Yoro, who grabs her by the stomach, pulling her into the room.

As soon as the two are inside, Shikamaru engages the shutter- it slams shut with a loud *THUD*, leaving Kegon to his fate.

Fuu beats on the iron door- but it doesn’t give. Yoru’s voice crackles over the loudspeaker;

“Initiating foyer defense self-detonation subroutine. Everyone, head to the ballroom, now!”

Turning, you can see the entrance to the ballroom on the far side of the hallway- Shikamaru disengages the protective shutter over the door.

Fuu still remains at the door- Yoro has to pick her up and carry her as you run to the next room.

Once you enter the ballroom, Shikamaru closes the iron shutter- and from two rooms away, you hear father’s voice again.

“Thank you for visiting the Norihime Manor- unfortunately at this time we aren’t interested in giving guided tours. In mere moments, all mechanical defenses in this room will detonate- so I suggest-”

His voice is cut off by a loud explosion emanating from the same room, follow by howling laughter over the loudspeaker.

Guess he got a little too excited to try out his toy.

The ballroom. The entire room is nearly empty, most of the additional seating long put away in storage. The windows in this room have been sealed shut by the shutters inside- leaving the room only partially lit by the electric “candles” lining the room, and the reflection they cast upon the mirrored ceiling.

What did father call it? Mood lighting?

He hasn’t ever used it, that you can remember- it’s even a bit odd to think of him dancing.

Perhaps mother was the one who liked to dance? The thought stays in the forefront of your mind, until your Father’s voice once again crackles to life.

“Alright, kids. This one is a bit unique, so stay with me here. When I engage this room’s defenses, mirrors will rise from the floor, creating a sort of maze- it’s primarily meant to slow down attackers, though you shinobi might be able to able to use it more offensively, given your skills. You could also choose to leave this room entirely. If you do, I can activate the detonation command early, though I’m not sure how much-”

A loud *KABOOM* rattles the house again. Looks like they just blew open the first shutter.

“-damage it will cause them. I’ll leave the choice up to you.”


A mirrored arena could provide quite the advantage, though running away might still the best choice. The next room should be a storage area- and will likely have roof access.

1. Stay and fight the Akatsuki in the Mirrored Ballroom, together.

2. Stay and fight the Akatsuki, but send the others forward.

3. Keep running. Fighting them on the roof might be better.
