(Disregard the #1, this is the second thread for HAQ, the last one was originally just gonna be chargen then I decided 'fuck it, let's keep going'. Previous thread can be found here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/731913/)

You are Grau Himmel, first year student in Haven Academy, leader of team GNJR, and descendant of a long line of Hunters and Huntresses. Yesterday, you completed (read: survived) the entrance exam. Today is your first day of classes, beginning with Dust studies. You are seated with your team in a large lecture hall with the podium at the center taking up a large amount of it. As the students file in, a man enters from what you assume to be an office in the back. The first thing you notice is that the man's appearance is a bit...how to put it...extravagant. The man has a skin tone that reminds you of light coffee, and slicked-back hair. He wears saffron-colored robes with numerous colorful scarves around his neck and coiled around his arms. He also has a magnificent beard.

"Good morning, students!" the man calls out, despite already having the class's rapt attention. "I am Professor Rajah Astradhari, welcome to Introductory Dust Studies!"

He uncoils one of the scarves and cracks it like a whip up into the air, and the scarf shimmers for a moment before crackling with electricity, creating a dazzling light show. The students ooh and aah at the display.

"Now that I have your attention, I will briefly go over the basics of Dust before going into how it will be useful to you as Hunters."

Professor Astradhari goes to a chalkboard and flips it, revealing a diagram of Dust crystals drawn in different colors to denote the different types.

"Dust is the source of power that gave mankind the edge it needed to battle the Grimm and establish our civilizations. There are four basic types of Dust- fire, water, earth and air- as long as multiple secondary types like lightning, steam, gravity, ice, and so on. Dust is activated by channeling Aura into it, which is why today's practical exercise will be to practice using your Aura on Dust. Do I have a volunteer?"

You raise a hand, and the professor ushers you down to the podium, where he produces a red Dust crystal- fire Dust.

"Thank you for your cooperation, Mr. Himmel. Now, if you could activate the Dust- but be sure not to put too much or too little Aura into it!"

You manage to get almost a perfectly sized amount of your Aura into the Dust crystal, and though it catches flame, the Aura you put into it protects you from burning yourself.

"Excellent work, Mr. Himmel! Any other volunteers?"

Not to be outshined by you, the rest of your team volunteers. Rupert barely manages to make his crystal glow, Nadeshiko does arguably better than you did, and Jasmine...

...well, her attempt started okay, but then she started pouring a bit too much Aura into the crystal. Something went 'boom', the fire sprinklers are currently spraying the whole classroom, and the entire front row of the classroom is covered in soot. Luckily, nobody was seriously hurt.

"Well, that was a bad way to start the year..." sighed Jasmine as you all left the classroom, which still smelled a bit smoky.

>"Eh, it could have been worse."
>"...yeah, that was pretty bad."
>"You'll improve."
>Write-in

"Eh, it could have been worse." you say. Rufus chuckles. "Yeah, you could've burned the whole academy to the ground!"

You give Rufus a pointed look. "Not helping. And at least she got fire out of her Dust at all."

That seems to deflate him a bit- at the least, it puts an end to his mocking.

Class ended a bit early due to Jasmine's...mishap...so you have some free time. How do you want to spend it?

You check your Scroll to see what's on the news. As you browse, you see the headline: 'KILLER IN WINDPATH?'

Windpath is one of Mistral's settlements, located to the north of the capital city. You visited family there once, but you don't remember much about it. You read the article"

'A spate of murders has authorities in Windpath investigating the possibility of a serial killer being to blame. When asked about the case, Detective Forrest Campion stated that though the case was trouble, citizens of Windpath must remain calm, but remain vigilant'.

You grimace. A serial killer is bad news for a place not well defended from Grimm- negative emotions attract the beasts, and something like a serial killer would draw a large amount of Grimm.

You head to your next class, which is a sparring class, taught by Professor Aryl Grove- a very stern woman with short straw blonde hair and the kind of glare that could strip wallpaper off the wall.

"Alright class, I'm going to lay down ground rules. These ground rules will not exist in real combat, but you will fight with honor in my class: No attacking the eyes, throat, or groin. The spar is over when one combatant has their Aura depleted. The use of Semblances is permitted. Do I make myself clear?"

The class all speaks to the affirmative, and Professor Grove looks through the class before locking her gaze on you. It's difficult not to wilt under such an intense stare.

"Mister Himmel, I heard you quite impressed Professor Astradhari this morning. Let's see if you can continue to excel."

You step forward and your opponent is selected- a Faunus boy with dark brown hair and bear ears poking out from the top of his ears. In one hand, he brandishes a large knife- if the blade were a bit longer, it would qualify as a short sword.

"Grau Himmel, Brennan Arctos, you will begin fighting when I fire-"

You don't look away from your opponent but you can't help but wonder:

"Wait, whaddya mean, 'fi-'"

You quickly figure it out when she pulls the trigger on a pistol you didn't see her produce, firing it into the sky and sending an echoing 'bang' throughout the training arena.

What's your attack strategy?

Assault rifle , full auto unload at him see how he react, if he close switch to blade and fence his ass. Keep him from dodging while maximize our ability too.

You switch your weapon to assault rifle form, taking aim at Brennan, going full auto and emptying the clip at him. He rolls to the side and his weapon transforms into a machine pistol, the blade folding back along the barrel to become a rudimentary ironsight. He aims and does the same thing you did- empty the clip
