The morning that you're leaving you say your goodbyes and share contact details with people you connected with. Sensei looks incredibly tired when you depart, pack on her back and thermos of coffee in her hand. The two of you take a quick pace through the Mountains' Graveyard, to get out of the wintry climate as fast as possible. You reach the Land of Rice Paddies by nightfall, tired and sore.

The small border town you cross into is practically a row of businesses on a paved road with dirt roads branching off to small farmsteads off of the main strip. Hōōmaru-sensei finds the two of you an inn to stay in, and offers to pay for the night. You take her up on the offer, and spend the night in the farming town. The next morning, you get a later start, and take a much slower pace, opting to instead enjoy the scenery of the Land of Rice Paddies. You eventually come to a crossroads, either way it will take roughly the same amount of time to arrive in the Land of Fire. You will arrive in either city by the end of the day.

You tell Hōōmaru-sensei that you'd like to head for the Sound Village, the largest city in the Land of Rice Paddies. While the Daimyo holds court in the Capital, the Sound Village is far larger and bustling with people, there are even a few ninja there, apparently.

You arrive in the Sound Village that night, and again, stay in a hotel overnight. The next day, Hōōmaru-sensei asks if you'd like to spend a day here, get some sight-seeing in, as she certainly would.

Knowing that you should be back in the Leaf soon, and that some foreign ninja know about you, this may not be the best idea, but you would like to get a feel for the real heart of the Land of Rice Paddies.

Looking at a map of the village in the hotel lobby, there are a few places to explore. Where to start though?

You decide to head for what's called the Commerce District, which is full of shops and restaurants. On your way there, you pass by a few other hotels, and into the commerce district itself. The architecture of the village is odd, everything is flowing and rounded, you suppose it's a holdout from Orochimaru's days in charge of the Country.

You eat a quick breakfast at a charming little diner, and then go to check out the shopping market. It's not too impressive, but it's surprisingly cozy for a city that rivals that in the Land of Waves. You pass a few of the local shinobi, both of whom seem to be Uzumaki, or at least partially, you're surprised that they're out and about like this, the country is only allowed one hundred ninja. When picking out souvenirs for Haiiro and Shirou, you take note of two people looking for something similar, an older Shinobi from the Land of Snow, as evident by his forehead protector, and a little girl who seems to be his daughter. What stands out about them is the resemblance they bear to someone you know, the man has spiky black and white hair, while the girl's hair is all black, they look just like Kaya Uchiha, your "friend" from the Mist.

You pick out something for both your sister and cousin, and notice that the two people from the Snow have left after catching note of the metal band on your belt.

You rush to catch up with the two of them, and manage to corner them in a small restaurant. You find them trying to be inconspicuous at one of the booths. Or, at least the man is trying to be inconspicuous, the little girl is looking right at you as you make your way to the booth.

"Daddy, who's that?" You hear the child say as you approach them, you don't hear what her father whispers to her when you get there.

When you do get there, he stands in front of her, towering over you. "You have a good eye, but I'd rather we take this outside." He says in a hushed, yet angry tone to you.

You knew that World Congress Shinobi were less than amicable to the Great Nations Shinobi, but you didn't know that they were this brainwashed by propaganda.

"So you are Uchiha," you whisper back, wary of the man, he doesn't look too much like a Konoha Uchiha, but his daughter is a spitting image of the foreign Uchiha you know.

The man just nods.

"Well I'm just passing through, so if that satisfies your curiosity, then I'll ask you to leave us in peace." He tells you gesturing for his daughter to come to him.

You agree to that and leave the diner, scratching your head over the encounter. You know that things aren't as bad as he thinks they are, but it does concern you over the political climate in the World Shinobi Congress. You leave the commerce district around midday, and wander on into the Research District.

It's filled with more modern-style buildings of glass and steel, most of which are research companies' offices, and probably labs as well. You're amazed that, despite their rejection of his legacy, Orochimaru's scientific spirit remains in the Land of Rice Paddies. There are even more Rice Shinobi here, probably most of the Village's force, just milling about, probably guarding their Land's secrets.

You spend a few hours there, even taking (an admittedly boring) tour of one of the labs. When you exit, you have lunch in another restaurant in the commerce district. You still have quite some time before you're due to meet sensei at your hotel.

You go to the Residential District, hoping to find a park with a nice view to relax in, and manage to find one rather quickly. The park is centered around a concrete structure, but largely covered in trees. You manage to find a nice hill where you sit and watch the sunset. The view is different from the Hidden Leaf, it's pretty nice. It's also pretty nice to be free of the Jinchuuriki Conference, it was nothing but stress.

You open your eyes and it's completely dark, you must have nodded off. With no way to tell time, you figure it's best to rush to the hotel.

On the way there, however, you spot two Rice Ninja carrying something to that concrete building, it's a large box, heavy enough that they both have to use both hands to carry it. One of them is lanky with light blue hair, while the other is beefier with orange hair that flares out at the ends. You can hear them talking, but can't make out what it is.

They look at each other suspiciously.

"It's um, not a person." the thin one says with a questioning inflection in his tone that convinces you otherwise.

The thin ninja backhands you when you get close, knocking you on your butt due to the moment of rushing forward.

Rubbing your cheek, you look up at him as he sets his half down, only for his partner to pick the whole thing up with some strain.

Before you can find comfortable footing, he pulls you back to the ground. You note that his partner is gone with the container, though your opponent doesn't seem to care. He raises the whip again.

Before you're able to cast your jutsu, the Rice shinobi binds your hands with his whip, then kicks you in the face. You stagger backwards as the whip unbinds your hands, and he begins lashing you with it.

You manage to get through the lashing mostly unharmed, though your arms have quite a few cuts. You know you were supposed to meet Hōōmaru-sensei at the hotel a few minutes ago, but this is far more important at the moment.

A lash across your gut snaps you out of that line of thought, and you once more get into a fighting stance opposite the Rice shinobi, who now cracks the whip menacingly. He moves it like an extension of himself.

You fall to your knees, clutching the side of your abdomen, it hurts badly and there might be internal bleeding. As the foreign shinobi lowers his right hand, the one that wasn't using the whip, you can see that he's holding it like someone does when they mime shooting themselves.

You spit up, and looking down see that it's blood. This fight has gone poorly for you, which makes sense, considering he's a jounin, but him using techniques you've never seen doesn't help.

The thin ninja approaches you, whip retracting into what looks like a club.

"Time to give you what's coming to you, kid." He says as he raises it above his head, then brings it down on you.

When you wake up, someone's shaking you and it's morning.

"Kuro, come on," Hōōmaru-sensei says in an annoyed tone, "I hope you slept well in the park, but we have to get going." She's still pretty annoyed, and you can see she has your pack and hers.

Hōōmaru-sensei has been pretty quiet all day, which, considering what she must think happened last night, is understandable. You arrive in another village where you stay the night. At top speed, it would take you three days to reach the Village.

"No matter what happens Kuro," she tells you, utterly serious, "it was amazing being your sensei, and I'm proud of you, Otsutsuki or not." She then hugs you before going down the stairs, heading back into the village.

You feel apprehension in the pit of your stomach, and enter the office of the Tenth Hokage. He sits at his desk, hands steepled in front of him, looking down his nose at you. You take note of the two ANBU standing beside the door behind you.

"Kuro Nijiiroh," he begins, his glasses darkened so that you can't see his eyes, "how long have you known about your," he says the last word darkly, even more so than the rest, "lineage."

Future Naruto Quest


This quest is set within the universe of Naruto, long after the end of the series, but ignoring the events of the Boruto Manga. Of course, because this is Naruto we're talking about, the geopolitics and technology haven't advanced as quickly as they would in the real world. As such, the technology is similar to that of Boruto the Movie, and the villages you know and love are largely the same.


However, the characters will be less familiar, because as much time has passed between the Last and now as passed between the Founding of the Hidden Villages and the Main Series.


You are playing as Kuro Nijiiroh, a Hidden Leaf Chunin of twelve years. You’re a member of Hōōmaru Tachibana’s Team Seven, along with your teammates, Hakurin Hyuga, and Jimmaru ████ Uchiha. Your family consists of your older sister, an ANBU Black Ops, Shirou; your mother, the restaurateur Ki; and your father, a Hand Seals Specializing Tokubetsu Jounin.

Last Session, Kuro returned to the Hidden Leaf, and had an appointment with the Hokage.

That night, you reunite with your family, though for the time being leave the news about your bloodline out of the conversation, you want to have more energy when you talk about that.

The next morning, both of your parents have to work, and your sister is one a mission for a few days. After you bring Haiiro to the Academy you have some time to yourself.

It's somewhat early in the morning, so you have plenty of time to kill today.

Seeing Hakurin first is probably the best course of action, so that's what you do. Heading to the Hyuuga Compound, you're let in quickly, and find Hakurin heading back to her house, she looks like she just got back from a mission.

You greet her and she greets you happily. She asks how your mission went.

"It was exhausting," you start, "let's find somewhere private to sit down though, it's pretty... sensitive." Hakurin takes you to her house, and her parlor, where she assures you the rest of her family is out for the day.

You proceed to tell your teammate everything, including the interrogation by the Hokage. Hakurin looks scared afterwards.

"Well, I'm just glad you're okay really, and it's cool that you have something like that, now I'm not the only member of the team with a kekkei genkai." She tells you after getting over that. You leave her when her mother gets home, greeting the older Hyuuga as you leave.

After that you find Jimmaru's house just outside the Uchiha Compound, where all the Branch Uchiha houses are. When you knock on the door to his house, no one answers.

Your father picks up, also trying to lessen the impact of what he's saying. "And we agreed, hoping to give you an edge as a ninja," before you can say anything, he continues, "Of course, your sister is proof that our kids could be above average ninjas on their own, but we wanted to open even more opportunities to our next kid."

"That's the simplest way we can put it, Kuro." Your mother finishes.
