As your attacks crash through the surface of the water, you can almost hear Freeza's pained cries, but you doubt that he's done just yet.

Sure enough, you feel a major spike of energy, and soon, a massive, red ball of light explodes from the water below, shooting up toward you like a rocket and quickly closing in on you.

Locking your elbows at your side, you prepare yourself to throw up an Energy Shield, aware that doing so will take much of your power. Unfortunately, you can't do it quickly enough, and Freeza's blast strikes you full-force.

Screaming in agony, you find yourself engulfed in the ball of light Freeza has unleashed. Your skin is scorched, and you feel a rush of energy force you downward, throwing you to the ground as the Kaio-Ken fails you, and steam rises from your broken body.

Groaning, you raise your head, seeing Freeza rise from the water, his arms crossed and a smirk on his face.

"Well, well," he says to you. "It looks like your luck has finally run out."

Slowly, he lowers himself to the ground, stepping on dry land and slowly moving toward you, each step seeming deliberately paced, and his eyes staring at you with sadistic joy.

"Don't worry," he tells you. "This won't last too long. Still, it's going to hurt."

As Freeza draws closer, you realize that you have almost no chance. Without the Kaio-Ken, your power is barely a fraction of his. He will crush you like an insect, and there's nothing you can do to stop him.

But, you'll be damned if you don't die on your feet. So, with what little energy you have left, you pick yourself back up, ignoring the intense pain in your body as you stare defiantly at Freeza.

He continues to smirk, but you see the smallest trace of surprise on his face. "So, you still have a bit of fight left in you?"

Holding your right hand out to your side, you close your eyes and focus your energy, creating a blade with which you intend to cut Freeza to ribbons. You open your eyes to find that he's stopped his approach, but somehow you don't feel much more confidence.

"So stubborn," he remarks. "Really, I admire your resolve, but this is growing old. I think it's time I finish you off."

He takes another step forward. "Ingrain this into your small mind, worm. I am Lord Freeza. None surpass me, none even come close. Cretins like you are fit only to serve. Or, better still, to die at the feet of your master!"

Freeza explodes forward, and, in response, you close your eyes and wait for death to come. But, it doesn't. Instead, you hear the sound of Freeza growling in frustration, and, as you open your eyes, you find out why.

Piccolo has placed himself between the two of you, catching the fist that was meant to end your life. He glances back at you, his expression hard to read.

"Looks like I made it just in time," he remarks before kicking Freeza in the stomach, sending the alien tyrant flying off into the distance.

As he takes to the air, you sense for Kori, feeling her energy in the sky not too far away. You look up towards her, and see that she's watching Piccolo with a great deal of fear as he moves to confront Freeza.

You fly up to Kori as fast as you can, the sudden burst of energy drawing her attention away from Piccolo and Freeza. She looks at you with concern.

"Tofoo, you're hurt," she observes, sounding sad.

A burst of energy and a thundering boom causes you to glance in the direction of the battle, and you see that, to your amazement, Piccolo is holding his own rather well against Freeza. The energy coming from the Namekian is incredible, and it seems that even Freeza is having difficulty matching it.

Whatever Nail did to help Piccolo, it seems to be working.

"We need to take cover," you tell Kori, grabbing her and heading for ground.

In the distance, Piccolo slams his head up into Freeza's jaw, then spins and kicks the monster in the side of the head, causing Freeza to spin away uncontrollably.

Piccolo brings his fingers to his forehead, then thrusts them toward Freeza. "MAKANKOSAPPO!"

A red, spiraling ray of energy shoots from his fingertips, right toward Freeza, who has just managed to stop spinning. Seeing the attack coming at the last second, Freeza moves his head out of the way, but the attack leaves a cut in his cheek.

Trembling with rage, Freeza roars and rushes toward Piccolo.

"Can Piccolo win?" Kori asks as the two of you land.

"It looks like it," you answer. "But Freeza could still have some tricks up his sleeve."

The two of you shield your eyes as the battle rages, the shockwaves from the two warriors exchanging attacks causing the ground to tremble. Piccolo fights with the ferocity and skill that you've come to expect from him, but Freeza isn't backing down. In fact, none of Piccolo's attacks seem to do much more than irritate him a bit.

Freeza manages to catch Piccolo off-guard with an elbow to the back, sending the Namekian to ground, where he lands on all fours.

Freeza raises a hand, creating a ball of energy that grows larger and larger, then holds his hand down toward Piccolo, concentrating that ball of energy into a beam that shoots toward the demon.

Piccolo's eyes go wide, and he picks himself back up, and while you expect him to dodge, he instead stands his ground, pulling his arm in and backhanding the blast when it reaches him.

At first, it appears that Piccolo won't be able to do it. But, with a yell of exertion, he manages to send the blast right back at its maker.

Freeza's eyes widen in shock, and he's unable to stop the blast in time. It hits him full-force, creating a massive cloud of smoke that obscures your vision.

You can still sense him though, as can Piccolo. When the smoke clears, Freeza looks majorly pissed off. He stares down at the hand that had fired the blast, then glares at Piccolo.

"You're finished, Freeza!" Piccolo declares, taking to the air and rushing the monster.

However, Freeza stops his charge with a punch to the face, and follows that with a blast to the gut that sends Piccolo plunging into the water below.

Closing your eyes, you sense for Piccolo's energy, breathing a sigh of relief when you find that he's still very much alive.

Unfortunately, Freeza seems to know that his foe is still down there, and waits patiently for Piccolo to resurface. As your ally darts out of the water, Freeza throws a ball of energy that strikes him full-force.

When the smoke clears, you see that Piccolo has survived with only minor injuries, though his composure seems to be ever-so-slightly shaken.

"It seems the Earthling isn't the only stubborn one," Freeza remarks. "Honestly, you're like cockroaches."

"Piccolo!" you shout to the Namekian. "Use the Kaio-Ken and beat him fast!"

"What?!" Freeza asks, concern in his voice. "You know that cursed technique as well?"

Piccolo smirks. "Want to see?"

Freeza rushes forward without a word, throwing a punch at Piccolo's head, but the Namekian catches it in his palm, his body becoming surrounded with a red aura.

The power you feel coming from Piccolo is unreal, and with it, he easily pushes back Freeza before rushing forward and mercilessly pummeling his foe.

"King Kai!" you shout to the sky. "How did Piccolo get so strong?"

It takes a moment for you to get your answer.

"Through an ancient and forbidden Namekian technique," King Kai informs you. "Piccolo and Nail have merged into a single being, and with that fusion, they have become far more powerful."

That's an understatement. With this kind of power, Piccolo can win this battle, but you can't help but feel a twinge of fear. Once this is over, what if Piccolo turns on you. With this kind of power, he could crush you like a bug.

But, for that to work, Piccolo has to survive, and Freeza has to be defeated."

"Well, do you know any way for me to get back into the fight?" you inquire.

"I'm afraid all you can do is wait for your body to recover a bit from your use of the Kaio-Ken," King Kai tells you. "Until then, Piccolo's on his own."

Piccolo seems to have things in hand, and you watch as he kicks Freeza down into the water, sending a wave of energy down after him.

Piccolo seems to have things well in hand, at least for now. You can take a moment to relax and restore your energy.

Piccolo hovers above the water, waiting for Freeza to surface. But, for a long time, there's no sign of the tyrant. Then, a massive beam of light shoots from the waves, but not at Piccolo. It simply rises high into the air.

That's when you feel it; a surge of energy unlike anything you've ever experienced. Even Piccolo's new power can't match it. It fills you with a dread you haven't experienced in quite some time, and you realize that it doesn't matter if you jump back into the battle. It doesn't matter if a hundred of you go to help Piccolo. It won't make any difference.

Freeza rises from the waves, and once more, his appearance has changed.

He's gotten smaller, his horns have vanished, and his entire body just seems sleeker and less evil-looking. Yet he radiates a power that seems limitless, one that makes even you and Piccolo seem like ants standing beside a skyscraper.

"Sorry to keep you waiting," Freeza tells a stunned Piccolo. "I had to make a little change, and I suppose you could say I felt uncomfortable doing so in front of you."

He smirks. "What do you think? This is my true form."

Piccolo growls.

"I know my last form may not have impressed a warrior of your caliber, but I promise you, with this form, I shall show you terror beyond the horrors of Hell," Freeza vows.

A scream draws your attention, and you turn to see Freeza squeezing Piccolo's shoulder. The Namekian has shed his weighted training clothes, clearly giving this battle all that he has, but it still isn't enough. The agony in Piccolo's voice makes your blood run cold, and fills you with terror at the prospect of what will become of you.

You hear Kori whimper, and you turn around to find her looking between you and Piccolo, tears falling from her eyes.

Kori takes a fearful step back, turning around and starting back toward the ship.

"Goodbye, Kori," you tell her. "And remember to be brave."

As your best friend's daughter begins to head back toward Freeza's ship, you take to the air, rushing over to join Piccolo, who is currently in the process of being pummeled by Freeza.

You swoop in, attempting to catch Freeza off-guard, but it seems he was expecting you to try and save Piccolo, as he easily avoids your attack, releasing the Namekian and pulling back.

He smirks at you as Piccolo struggles to recover from the savage beating he just endured.

"I was wondering when you'd work up the nerve to jump back into the fray," Freeza comments, moving his tail (which seems to have grown back), back and forth beneath him. "I would have thought that the sight of what I've done to your Namekian friend would be sufficient to illustrate the folly of attempting to stand against me. But you're every bit as foolish as I'd hoped."

He stretches out his arms at his sides in invitation. "So, are you going to attempt to defeat me? Or, will you do the smart thing and kneel at my feet?"

Freeza's eyes widen for half a second before he sees that he has nothing to fear. In fact, the only one in any real trouble right now is you.

An indescribable pain fills your body, and you begin to writhe in agony as your muscles bulge and pulsate, your bones seem to twist, and you lose total control of your motor functions.

"Ah, repeating your earlier folly, are we?" Freeza chuckles, delighting in your pain. "As much as I'd enjoy watching your own body ripping itself apart, I have gone to all of the trouble of transforming, so I'm afraid I'll have to insist on killing you with my own hands."

His fist slams into your face, and you fly through the air, crashing into a plateau, which collapses on top of you. Your body continues to put you through unbearable agony, and you expect to die buried under the rocks as your body rips you to shreds.

But, that's not the case, and the rubble covering your body slowly lifts away. Struggling to lift your head, you see Freeza flying high above you, lifting his arms, which the rocks seem to follow.

"Tofoo!" Piccolo shouts, rushing to attack Freeza.

"Wait your turn," Freeza commands, directing the rocks toward Piccolo, and pummeling him relentlessly with them.

As Piccolo falls from the sky, Freeza slowly descends, landing in front of you and making his way around your broken body.

"Still alive," he observes, stopping behind you. "Perfect. I couldn't have you dying on me after such a glancing blow. No, I'm afraid your suffering is only just beginning. There are so many horrors I have left to show you."

A stabbing pain rips through your body as Freeza fires a thin beam of light that pierces your right arm. An instant later, that same pain shoots through your left arm.

"Much better," Freeza comments. "We wouldn't want you getting any foolish ideas with that blade of yours."

He bends down, grabbing you by the hair and pulling you to your feet.

"You did want to face your demise on your feet, did you not?" Freeza questions with a smirk.

Before you can answer, you feel his fist slam into your back, cracking your spine and causing you to gasp in renewed pain.

"How's that?" he asks. "Are you beginning to regret opposing me? Or shall I continue to educate you on your place you worthless maggot?!"

His fist slams into you again, this time striking you over your kidney and causing you to cough up blood.
