And here I was just thinking about a heartfelt conversation with Lyann about hers and Eldric's married life, going to the bottom of her desire to be his slave, and what they would actually be like.

Basically, her mom was her dad's slave, and they were ridiculously happy and cutesy with each other. You know, one of those idiot couples.

So she was influenced by that.

Then after her dad's death, she fell under relatives custody and was sold off to a group of soldiers, who, while they didnt 'use her', didn't had any issue with letting her see how they used slave girls in the barracks.

In that enviroment, she was terrified until one of the girls took her under her wing and told played the surrogate mother role for her, so Lyann's impression of slaves isn't bad at all.

Most important female figures in her life, have been slaves. Her mom was happy, and her surrogate mother was content with dreaming of a master she could fall in love with.

I had in mind to talk with Lyann, and explain to her that she doesn't has to be a slave to be Eldric's better half, or for them to be an idiot couple.

Plus our mom and Ellie have also rubbed off on her, so her opinions have changed a little, at least.

Anyway, I was thinking of such a thing. Finally getting her out of that mentality and having her be happy to be a free person who is with someone by her own free will.

I think a year ago? maybe two? when it was made clear that Lyann wanted to remain our slave, that dancers can wear (or not wear) anything they want and noone will look weird at them, and from when we got her some enchanted chains/jewelry of the highest craft.

I was briefly thinking of going with tattooes = magic armor at the time and wasnt sure about what color would be better. I still prefer silver since it gives off more of a fantasy feel, while blue is nicely pict-ish and red goes nicely with her hair, but for some reason I really think silver > blue > red.

Anyway, lets see... important life-altering talk with Lyann, report of the bacterial theory research, talking with Miel. I think those are enough for this week?

As for Alquia, I honestly am still on the fence about the final fate of the vizir. Should he just die or pull a classical "hah! I was my empress master of assassins! But that feels a bit clichéd. Sometimes you should just let 'good' people die off screen to make the world feel more alive independently of the players' characters, I think.

As for Tanis, I feel like it would be more complicated than friends who happen to like having sex. Even with Dawn, it feels like the relationship is deeper than just sex friends but definitely not deep enough to be a couple.
With Tanis, I feel it would be like lovers without being bound to each other, if that makes sense. Lyann, Aritsu, Mako, and soon Miel will be bound to Eldric through marriage, but I don't think Tanis would really understand the concept, since all she's known is the individual dragon lifestyle.

She agreed to become our pet because of the promises of adventure, seeing and tasting new things, and getting shiny stuff. She calls us master because of the Pet System, but in her mind and heart, I think she still is and always will be independent.

So Eldric and Tanis will have sex, and cuddle. I think Tanis wouldn't mind carrying Eldric's child, and giving him as many babies as he wants.

We woke up late.

The reason: We were waiting for Lyann to wake us up.

Well, yeah, it sounds super lazy, but hear me out. It's been almost a year since we started sleeping together, and in that time, she never failed to wake us up by kissing our child good morning, you know?

So, it just felt like it must have been too early... yeah its a seedy excuse, but it's the truth, I swear!

Basically, we were waiting for our sweetheart to greet us gloriously. Er.. no its not a pun about her greeting our morning glory or anything. *cough*

Anyway, we woke up late.

Which was pretty weird, because even if our beloved redhead didn't wake us up, I feel like our kitty (she's a lion, though) would have come wake us up, you know?

No ero. She would have just knocked on the door first, and if that didn't work, she would have come shake us a little bit while calling "brother, brother, wake up" sweetly at us, and then we would have given her a morning kiss on the cheek and patted her head and made her smile, you know?

...yeah, we had forgotten that mom loves to give us study materials. At least she's let us rest by going to school to get lectured by kind and gentle megalomaniac wizards, you know? They have much more realistic and sensible study plans, really.

"Where's Ellie?" -we ask while taking the book and heading towards the couch with it and a brunch plate mom prepared for us.

Well, devadashi are pretty rare, so if you had three in town, you'd want to ask for their help for these things... it can take quite a while, though, since they need to perform/dance the ritual several times until the dungeon comes out with as close-to-ideal monster distribution for a foodgeon.

Uhmm... according to this book, cold is not real, but rather, a debuff that affects matter somehow.

Its a bit impressive that despite the lack of a scientific method, someone has managed to, by observation alone, deduce (in very rough terms) about how molecular movement is related to heat/cold.

It suggests that, if one visualizes cold as a moment of stillness, one could probably create ice with water magic at a greatly reduced cost, compared to current spells.

Well, we do use ice spells, but they cost the same as regular spells of any other element. Their disadvantages are plenty.

To begin with, they cost the same as a similar spell of any other element.

Why is this a disadvantage, you ask?

Because a similar metal spell creates permanent projectiles and barriers.

A fire spell can also ignite or explode

A wood spell can create living plant barriers.

On the other hand, ice (water) melts naturally and is delicate, so it has neither the explosive potential of fire nor the permanent aspect of wood or metal. Thus, if you are still paying the same for your ice spells, you are paying too much.

In the end, after reading the book, it feels as if we learnt something new.

Let's go to the garden and try it out.

First, a 'normal' water spell.

A round orb of ice crashes into the target and shatters.

Its a blunt object. Is like shooting a cannonball, or at least a bowling ball.

Not bad, right? But a metal spell would create a more solid, permanent missile.

Now let's see... we have the advantage of understanding cold better than the person who wrote the book.

Honestly, I want to praise whoever it was, because understanding molecular movement with the touchy-feely approach most people use towards magic is quite an achievement.

Anyway, let's try it out.

By imagining molecules slowing down, we can create an ice orb out of the water in the air.

Indeed, it is quite cheaper (1/10th the normal cost)

Well, if its like this, we can probably spam ice missiles now, without worrying about mana consumption.

After all, our mana recovery is good enough that we can recover faster than we spend it (on ice orbs).

This can be done so with up to 6th sphere spells.

Uhmm... there's a layer of frost on the target. This is new as well.

But, even if we watch it with our ring of knowledge... oh, it has a [Slowed] debuff on it.

Of course, slowing a immobile practice target is no great achievement. But it does go a long way towards my nostalgic memories of playing Dia*** 2 with an ice-specced sorceress, you know?

It should be usable regardless of the place, as long as there's air, since there's hydrogen in the air, after all.

Ah, but it became quite late while we were trying it out!
