There was a flash of light over Horizon's Drop and a battleship appears in orbit. Jor stood on the bridge, his new hand flexing the fingers of chitin and metal as he looked down at his home and not for the first time he was amazed as he saw how it's surface was changing. Iti'a'Ropku was visible from orbit as the dawns light illuminated it, a crawling stain of white and black towers and buildings spreading across mountains covered in snow, it's borders constantly being expanded by construction Reconstructed. A blot of green was dwarfed by the city at it's border, the Armatocere field growing by the day as they made themselves at home.

He saw the colony that had been his home, once a simple grouping of buildings and fields for their herds, now growing in size as the Reconstructed build and expand. The colony was now a home for the Osogo pilgrims, Red-Leaf-Strains herd living in large barn-like buildings to hide from the constant snowfall as more and more Osogo herds make their way on their pilgrimage.

In the brine sea he could see a shadow drifting lazily near the shoreline and he squinted at it in confusion until it lifted up and crashed back down on the water like a colossal breaching creature. The Fury of the Wormstar, formed from the corpse of the Beast of Rukor, kept itself amused in the shallows of the ocean, it's massive limbs pushing around large boulders and carving ravines in the sand like some enormous child.

Dotting the landscape he could see fortresses of bone and dark metal rising out of the ground or perched on mountains. Even at rest the Armada prepared itself for war, bunkers and anti-air weapons waiting to defend the seat of the Armada's power. The tell-tale signs of mines and biomass farms popped up like fungus mounds, high-speed trains of chitin crisscrossing the landscape ferrying the resources gained from the bounty of the planet. Streams of Coffins and Bloat Carriers rose and fell through the atmosphere, distributing and transporting resources from the surface across the system to be built into new ships or Reconstructed.

Horizon's Drop was growing and with it the power of the New Necrotic Armada increased. Picket fleets orbited the world, ever attentive to any threat that may appear. The moon loomed in the distance, bright and hazy with the multitude of ships that swarmed around it. It's surface covered in shipyards and defensive installations to protect the temples of the Armada.

Jor could remember the first time he'd seen Horizon's Drop, a lonely backwater world on the frontier of the sector lacking any kind of infrastructure or importance. Yet in a few short months he watched as it grew to represent the rebirth of the Necrotic Armada and truly became a home to him. He found himself smiling as he descended to the surface, returning to his city.

Unlocked:
>Ambient Energy Collection: By utilizing Crystalline constructs superficially similar to Glutton Spheres this allows the gathering and harvesting the ambient energy of an environment or living population. Most effective in areas with a high living population or dense energy saturation, the technology allows a being that can metabolize such energies to fuel and increase their own power overtime without harm to the sources of the energy. Places with large populations such as cities or areas with dense biospheres are ideal locations. Necromancers are able to consume this gathered energy to comfortably sustain themselves without needing to drain living beings while Voidsingers can slow down the consumption of their own bodies by their Voidflame.

>Ambient Energy Collector Network: A group of the energy collectors are spread through areas of high energy, such as cities, undeveloped wildlands, or energy saturated environments, to gather and harvest the natural ambient energy of an environment. These collectors are made of crystalline constructs but can be disguised or designed to have all manner of appearance, be it statues or discreetly hidden in infrastructure.

>Sub-Space Communication Beacon: A satellite-like device is placed into Sub-Space that is linked to a small building sized construction that houses a small near-permanent sub-space rift. The unique properties of sub-space allows near instantaneous communication between Beacons. Each possesses a unique code that allows another beacon to communicate with it or to join into a network of linked sub-space beacons. These Beacons also serve as markers in sub-space travel, providing an accuracy bonus to a friendly Warp Drive equipped ship to appear near a planet with a Beacon. Cost: 200B 500M

>>1101117
>Mental Recording: A more intensive and intrusive version of the Mental Reading allows a complex "record" of a living beings personality and memories to be saved in storage. The subject must spend a full sleep cycle in order for their mind to be recorded.

>Mental Imprinting: This allows clones to be imprinted with the full recorded memories and personality of a stored entity, in effect creating a complete duplicate of the original or allowing them to be transferred into a new body. Attempting to imprint a full personality and memory into a species different than the original has a chance of rejection and failure. Portions of a saved subjects memories and personality can be taken and combined allowing for clones to receive specialized training and education such as weapons handling, engineering, sciences, etc. Fully grown and non-clone subjects are unable to be directly imprinted with new memories.

>Medical Pod: Appearing as a glass tank full of sterile healing liquid the Pods can provide a wide-array of medical care to living beings. This includes procedures such as surgery, disease treatment, gene therapy, etc. A living being inside a medical pod can have it's genetic structure read and decoded for future use in cloning and can in fact be used to grow everything from individual organs for surgical transplants to full living clones. Subjects inside a pod are also subject to mental reading and recording.

Or could they be considered the best citizens, made to serve and work for a specified purpose? Would need to make damn sure what are planes are for them if/before we start mass producing them.

When it comes to the clones I feel we should instill in thema. Sense of duty a specialised role and purpose but then also te knowledge that they are free to choose to follow other pursuits if they so wish, they are after all Jaydks children they owe their life to the lich lord but he is no tyrant and will not keep living slaves

What is really awesome bout the mental update and recordings is we can retrain people overnight, sleeping universities if you will.

Jor descends to Horizon's Drop on a Coffin with a group of Reconstructed, the shuttle landing on a raised platform of Iti'a'Ropku. The undead mill out to follow the countless commands of the Deep Rot and Jor exits, a Flatbody Gargoyle perched on his shoulders like some serpentine pet, only to be greeted by Red-Leaf-Strains and several of the other Necromancers. He smiles at the sight of his friends and lifts a hand in greeting as he approaches them.

Before he could speak though the pair of Vorh siblings who designed his arm step up and grab his wrist to pull his arm out and slide up his sleeve to inspect it. He blinks in surprise but laughs as they start asking him how it feels and how it's been working for him, "Well haven't had a chance to test it in battle but it works as good as the old one so far. It aches a little bit but told that's just phantom pain. You two did good work, thank you," he says and the pair nod, mandibles twisting in the vorh version of grins.

He looks up at the tall Osogo as Red-Leaf-Strains looms over them, her own per Gargoyle perched on her shoulder, "I am glad you have returned mostly intact, Jor. We heard about your trial."

A netu necromancer, Voruk, speaks next, "They're dedicating the next race and fights tonight to you in your honor."

One of the vorh, the sister Flero, says, "What was Ruscuv like? We saw the details of the Reconstructed you defeated, they were works of art themselves."

Jor looks at them in surprise but chuckles, "Well they definitely fight well. I didn't have the honor of speaking to Ruscuv just yet, she's quite literally a fossil and is being reanimated right now," he frowns and looks at his replacement limb, "Her "Caretaker" was quite...interesting. It's because of him I needed his new arm," he looks back to his friends and colleagues gathered around him, "Anyways, I'm glad to be back. Have things been uneventful since I've been gone?"

He speaks with them as they start to walk back into the city toward the building they all resided in and had dubbed their Sanctum. Reconstructed pause as they pass, bowing their heads respectfully in his direction while the living citizens wave in greeting. A small mixed group of stonestar, ructu and other races stops them long enough to hand them baskets of food gathered from the canals and orchards when they passed.

Jor smiles, his heart feeling at ease as he found himself back in his home he had helped create.

The world of Kanda burns.

Tides of undead Reconstructed swarm across its surface, the shadows of their fleets falling over the landscape, and the shouting and screams of the terrified and the dying fill the air. Three major cities dotted the arid landscape of the metal-rich world, it's riches drawing the attention of three different factions to fight over it. Osjiic struggle to hold back the undead running rampant in their streets only to be set upon by the same slaves they once whipped and subdued into servitude to toil in their mines and factories. The slaves turn their weapons on the undead at first but they slowly come to learn from the Necrolytes words and the action of the undead that they had no interest in them, passing them by unharassed to attack the Osjiic. Many of them begin to realize the connection between the weapons and simple armor that were provided by the Necrolytes and those held by the Reconstructed and slowly an exodus of the cities began only to be taken in by the undead beyond their walls.

Reconstructed throw themselves at the few defending lines managing to hold back the undead, the mechs and vehicles sent as reinforcements swallowed up under the overwhelming press of bone, chitin, and metal as their ammo runs out and fatigue sets in. The miles of tunnels and mines under cities swarmed with undead, hiding slaves and osjiic unable to hold them back until they started to pour out onto the city streets like a disturbed hive of insects.

Eiton and Nekris continue their campaigns of sabotage, further weakening the capabilities of the osjiic to defend their failing cities as garrisons, weapons depots, and vehicle compounds were overrun or destroyed by bombardment. Crawlers and Brutes walked the streets, Drakes landing on top of buildings, their powerful weapons a significant deterrent. Throughout Kanda Osjiic continued to fight to their last but more and more threw down their weapons and let themselves be taken away. Prisoner camps began to swell with numbers on the outskirts of the cities, Domination Spikes being produced constantly from Cauldrons.

In the third city Ahkam soldiers, driven to madness by the abandonment of their kin and the defeat of their leader Vle'Karak, slaughter prisoners both osjiic and slave in the city they managed to capture but they fall to anarchy and panic.

Kanda burns as the New Necrotic Armada tightens its grasp further on the world.

The city Eiton stood in was quickly falling to the Armada as his forces proceeded block by block, building by building ripping Osjiic out of hiding and either slaughtering those that resisted or subduing those that gave up. He strode through the streets, past soldiers kneeling in rows as Trolls and Stingers stood over them, Dirges orbited by Domination Spikes driving one into each of their necks and moving on as they fell to the ground twitching. His large singular eye swivels in its socket, inspecting the city with a critical mind.

Groups of slaves were guided by Necrolyte Legionnaires in Cauldron-forged armor, the living soldiers pausing to bow their heads as he passed. He grinned and returned the gestures, his form splattered with the blood of countless Osjiic, the newly freed slaves staring at him in shock and wonder as he passed.

Stopping in front of a handful of Voidsingers surrounded by Arc Trolls and Glutton Spheres he crouches down eye level with one who's voidflame had consumed a portion of their cheek leaving blackened jawbone exposed, "Fear not. The Necrotic Armada has come to free you all from the tyranny of the Empire. Should you choose life you shall serve under my void powered brothers. If you choose resistance, well, I'm sure you can guess," he says with a cruel chuckle.

The osjiic spits at the ground before him, the glob of saliva sizzling faintly, "The Emperor will crush you and your army of abominations! He will-" he freezes mid-shout and Eiton sighs in disappointment and wipes the black oily blood from his shortsword as it gushes from the slashed open throat of the osjiic who hadn't even seen the blade move. Eitons hand reaches out and grabs the soldier by the face with his freehand and the osjiics flesh withers before the eyes of the other captured as he feeds on the Voidflame.

Letting the corpse fall he stands, his body flickering with pulses of Arclight and he looks at the others, "I look forward to the day your Emperor decides to truly do anything of note," he says coldly before moving on, waving at the guards to drag them off.

Without the reinforcements from the osjiic fleet the city was quickly falling underneath the weight of countless undead surging over shattered walls and welling up from underground. Predator Eiton felt content for a time as he watched the carnage unfolding around him and soon there would be no free osjiic within the city.

Sorry, forgot about that rule.
>>
>>1102243
The city that Gral and the Necrolyte Commander clashed with the reinforcements was the largest of the three on the planet. Osjiic forces fought doggedly as the undead attempted to overwhelm them, sealing off city blocks with walls that rose up from the streets and fighting with a grim determination that impressed the Reconstructed Generals attempting to take over. Mining exits were detonated when it was discovered the undead were emerging from below, trapping dozens, if not hundreds of their own soldiers and slaves underground.

At the center of the city a large fortress loomed over the city, taller than the buildings around it and from it's ziggurat-like platforms that were once landing zones for ships, Osjiic soldiers and tanks crowded and fired into the city below or at the Drakes and flying vehicles that dared to draw too close. They started to launch bombardments from tanks and mortars into the city but focused on the buildings around the sealed off fortress, reducing them to piles of rubble without care that soldiers or slaves might be trapped inside. Thermal detonators rained down like a symphony of destruction, the powerful explosives clearing a zone of fire around the fortress walls allowing the soldiers lined around the tops to shoot down any Reconstructed that attempted to rush across the newly made no-mans land.

Lorgul and Jareth stood on the rooftop of a building within eyesight of the large fortress, watching as the imperials managed to hold the line against the undead by sacrificing their own troops and buildings. Lorgul folded his arms across his chest, armor scored with new marks of battle, "I'm glad they aren't quitting without a fight," he says with a laugh, "It would be a disgrace."

Jareth nods, "As much as I despise them, the Osjiic do seem to have inherited some of Ghul's tenacity and fire."

The first Revenant snorts, "I would hope so, they stole his essence and used it to make an empire. It would be so disappointing if they wasted that potential."

Outside the city limits Gral wandered through the carnage, the juggernaut picking up pieces of wrecked vehicles and mech then tossing them away to inspect corpses both osjiic and reconstructed. Those they gulped down in one of their two maws and the voidflame within in consumed to repair the damage they sustained. Disciples kept their distance but followed the undead hero, ready to direct him to the next battle Valresko or the Revenants might send them to.

The last osjiic held city, Kanda Prime, has nearly fallen. Pockets of resistance persist but the true obstacle is the fortress at the heart of the city sealed off on its own. The Osjiic defending it seemed determined to fight until the last and they would make the Reconstructed pay for every inch of ground when they attempt to capture it.
>>
>>1102444
The two osjiic cities are nearly fully in Armadan control. The main fortress of the world has sealed itself off and are hunkering down waiting for the undead hordes to attempt taking it. They've sealed off the mines and tunnels leading to it and seem prepared to fight to the death.

Inside the Voidknights can detect large sources of Void energy but are unsure if they are the reactors such a large fortress would require or some other obstacle.

The ahkam held city is in a state of chaos as smoke rises to the sky, portions of the city ablaze as the abandoned soldiers start slaughtering the osjiic and slaves without care of taking prisoners anymore.

There is still much to do. How shall the Armada deal with these pockets of resistance?

Read between the lines, the Osijic are overloading a void reactor within the fortress in a bid to destroy themselves and most of their city. If we give them breathing room now they will use it to deny us any victory over them and we can't allow that. Obviously conquering the Akham city takes priority at this point but we can't afford to ignore a suicidal commander with access to a void reactor and users.

Instead, why don't we have the fleet give it a quick bombardment from orbit, and then have Muic, a voidknight, and shitload of devastators simply smash their defenses and overtake them. I doubt the Akham cities will be anywhere nearly as well defended as the Osijic ones, we don't need all of our generals to take it.
>>
>>1102528
Nigger what? It would take a literal shard of the wormstar to corrupt the planet The majority of the energy from crashing a frigate into a planet would be kinetic.

>>1102554
>>1102615
>>1102506
I think we are gonna need to keep a rather large force around the cities we are in, Especially the fortress, Can't we just Nuke the Ahkam from orbit?, Or harrass them with air raids for now, its not like the slaves from ONE city are that important besides the more they kill the more we can throw in the cauldron with no concequence
>>
>>1102475
How about we send Nekris and Eiton, along with a SHIT TON of spheres on a mad dash to the reactors/voidsingers and prioritize draining them to safe levels, then retreating while inflicting maximum casualties. While this is happening, Lorgul and Jareth begin the assault to make it easier for the Predators to retreat. Meanwhile, the Punishers relocate themselves along with most other troops to the Akham city, and send a detachment of fast units to harry the defenders, giving any slaves a chance to escape.
>>
I vote we just bluegoo the fortress and then attack it.
>>
Do we still have that ship with the Ahkam corpse crucified to it that we used to stop the Stonestar war?

We could send a Harbinger with it to bully the Ahkam soldiers into surrender
>>
>>1102693
Quite the opposite, giving them a breathing room would give them false hope of making it out of there alive. If we rushed in it will forced their hand and they'll really detonate the reactor out of desperation.
>>
>>1102808
>ship with the Ahkam corpse crucified to it
I'm gonna say that you do. The corpse was probably put on display in Iti'a'Ropku although it could be added back to a ship for intimidation purposes.
>>
>>1102809
They know they are boned(hehehe) so either way they are gonna blow it. If we make the first move we may be able to reach it and drain its energy.
>>
>>1102809
These are Osijic. They turn their slaves into cyborg zombies in constant agony to fly their ships-in a one way flight-in a bid to stop us. They grind their loyal soldiers into void powder to fuel their empire. Their mechs have their pilots surgically implanted into their systems for crying out loud.

I'd say most of their soldiers have come to terms with the fact that they are going to die on this world and committed themselves to taking as many of us as they can in the name of their Emperor.
>>
>>1102802
You know what Backing filling the fortress with Bluegoo, And or swarms, if we can launch both from pods that would be great
>>
Oh right one little bit I forgot to mention with cloning technology that I can't remember if I've mentioned before.

The Confederacy and UON have forbidden the use of clone armies since that was a holdover from the old Alliance. There were a few times where dissident factions tried to build clone armies to fight back. That's why the modern day Confederates use a lot of Cyborgs and why the UON use automatons.

Most factions have cloning technology but they use then like the Pirates do, growing replacement parts for injuries.

Osjiic don't use clones because they find it distasteful though they will use cloned slaves.

The Ahkam don't use clones because they're too much of megalomaniacs
>>
>>1102937
Wasting Sludge must be deployed either by airburst or a flying vehicle cropdusting a target.

Devouring Swarms can in fact be deployed by drop pod and are typically deployed by boarding pod against other ships.

So yeah, both are viable options.
>>
>>1102937
Yeah, if they're going ro die anyways, why not just reduce our losses. That was my reason behind it.
>>
Just binged the quest.
I was around for the very first ones but got distracted with life.
Glad to see its still running.

But you guys never did anything with the immortals. Leaving loose ends for the masked is sloppy
>>
>>1102725
Not if or ships are already tainted with necrotic and our soldiers and the engine and everything about it
>>
>>1102475
So suggestions so far seem to be:
>Send a force to take over the Ahkam held city, possibly with a Harbinger and the Ahkam skeleton for intimidation purposes

>Lay a siege to the fortress

>Rain down Wasting Sludge and/or Devouring Swarms on the fortress

>Send the Predators to sabotage the Void Reactors, take out Void-powered individuals

Any other suggestions or battle-plans?
>>
>>1103052
We can send some dirges down, or plant some ambient necrotic gathering relays, we have been teching to lower the damage of necrotic energy to come to these fruits.
>>
>>1103052
To corrupt an entire planet, And more than that our soldiers and weapons and ships that are built on horizons drop with open air necrotic crystals and the planet is fuckin fine. Yet beyond that we already have troops on the ground that are powered by necrotic energy.

>>1103082
Could our Battleships in orbit Core the larger generator out of the fort with their main Guns?
>>
>>1102984
My best idea is have the Predators look for a route in and find the reactor/voidsingers. They should bring a lot of gluon spheres. The spheres plus the Predators arc ability should be able to weaken the source of the void build up so that if it wont go boom. If shit hits the fan, the predators rush out of their while the spheres try to absorb the part of the blast that is heading in their direction. Also we need to find an old lich that can be our very own Doom Paul.
>>
>>1103082
I vote for options 1 and 3, skeleton included.
>>
>>1103082
>Send a force to take over the Ahkam held city, possibly with a Harbinger and the Ahkam skeleton for intimidation purposes
>Send the Predators to sabotage the Void Reactors, take out Void-powered individuals
>>
>>1103122
Problem with this is that when the Imperial scum detonate the generators We will lose the predators
>>
>>1103140
Thats why we bring the gluon spheres. Either they help the Predators take them down faster, or if its too late, they can act as a shield which, combined with the Arc, should be able to save them.
>>
>>1103152
>Thinking grave will be that forgiving
>>
>>1103121
>Could our Battleships in orbit Core the larger generator out of the fort with their main Guns?
That would be one way to make a very big boom without using a Void-Nova bomb

Anything launched from a battleships spinal cannons to hit something on a planet would hit with the force of a several kiloton nuke just from the kinetic energy alone. I kinda let that slide with the last thread and bombing the walls
>>
>>1103193
>thinking its not gonna be the dice that fuck us, sadistic QM or no.
>>
>>1103152
I see your reasoning, but personally I think it is a high risk and mediocre reward , and I think we have gotten enough boon from Kanda already. Im just wondering what extra good the prisoners from the fortress will do us.
>>
>>1103082
I fully back all these plans, we should be throwing everything and the kitchen sink at these guys.
>>
>>1103217
More voidknights, or maybe another gral. Energy users, be they loyal to us or not, are an invaluable resource to the armada.
>>
>>1103217
I know, im just a bit curoius if they have any goodies in their, plus info that you cant just extract form someone, such as a computor with info on much of the Osjic's activity in the sector.
>>1103260
Except for the goo, because if its too slow, its blows anyway and if its fast enough, we get no prisoners and it might fuck with any electronics.
>>
>>1103213
>admitting That the dice will fuck us and still wanting to go through with a plan that will give no real reward.
>>
>>1103273
>>1103287
What if instead of sending the predators into the reactor room, we send devastators full of glutton spheres and stalkers/looms. If we send enough spheres in then the void users are just normal osijic.
>>
>>1103287
It should not fuck with electronics, its entire purpose is to absorb organics and ignore minerals and synthetics
>>
>>1103328
Its really a gamble. Send fast and cheap units with the spheres, or send the fastest and expensive units with the spheres? At this point I cant decide.
>>
>>1103082
Looks like the plan is:
>Send a force to the Ahkam held city with the serpent skeleton (and harbinger?)
>Predators are sent into the Fortress to attempt shutting down the void reactors to prevent overloading

Use Wasting Sludge and/or Devouring Swarms? (Reconstructed would be affected and targeted by both if in the area)

>>

Roll me 3d100 best of first three please

SOrry this whole invasion has taken so many threads to finish. It is the Armadas first invasion of a planet so it's bound to take some time. In the future I plan to let other invasions be handled mostly in the background by which ever Generals you assign to the task.

>>1103719
>They probably either have them in storage, or gave them to someone else to diddle with.
That's what I'm most afraid of. We put the immortals through unspeakable cruelties and experiments, and if they got a chance to tell their story to anyone it will make us seem like the monster we are. That could completely destroy our political aims if it came out at the wrong time.

Deciding that the massacre commencing in the Ahkam held city finally needed to be addressed with both of the Osjiic cities mostly taken Valresko begins sending orders through the Deep Rot. Still stationed in his Battleship over Horizon's Drops moon he had not left the room as he guided the invasion efforts and guided his General siblings. Sur-Quro had come and gone often, advising the undead on what she knew of Osjiic tactics due to her long history of fighting against the Empire.

When she wasn't assisting Valresko she was either sleeping or speaking with a demi-Think Tank and learning everything she could of the Armada. Valresko knew she had some hope of someday escaping and bringing knowledge of the Armada to the UON but she slept in a chamber near a large Dreamstone obelisk built into the frame of the ship and her dreams slowly became more sympathetic to the Necrotic. Now she sat nearby and told him that the Ahkam were likely to burn the whole city down around them rather than let themselves be captured.

Coffins and Carriers traveled across Kanda carrying Reconstructed both large and small with the multitude of warvehicles that were proving themselves invaluable to the Armada. On board a battleship in Kanda's orbit, scarred and leaking atmosphere from the battle with the suicidal retaliatory fleet, a Cauldron churns and begins constructing a Harbinger for this task.

At the same time Dirges moved through one of the plazas of Iti'a'Ropku toward the large installation at the center. Citizens watch in curiosity as they carefully dismantle the skeleton of the Ahkam juvenile that had been displayed fighting statues of Jadyk and Nekris showing when he had first stolen the power of the Arc. It reared back to strike down Jadyk but Nekris' statue was perched on its back impaling it just below its skull with a spear. It's scales and bladed tail had been taken by the Predators to craft their signature weapons and decorate their temple as trophies but it's skull, spine, and ribcage had been placed as a commemoration of the significant moment in Armada history. They transport the bones to light cruiser waiting nearby and hastily fusing the bones to its hull before it rapidly departs for the B'Nan system.

Receiving their new orders from Valresko the Predators meet up, Eiton leaving the final pockets of resistance at the other city to the Necrolyte Legionnaires. Quickly repairing what few injuries they had sustained and rearming themselves they move to the edges of the no-mans land of rubble around the fortress walls and start circling. The keen-eyed undead search intently for a way in and they did not have to wait long to find their chance.

A tall building had fallen down near the edge of the rubble circle and wasn't completely destroyed in the bombardment. When it had toppled it draped across the no-mans land on its side allowing them to pass through it. The two Arc-powered undead slip into the darkness of the rubble tunnel and pick their way through it as night fell on the planet. They crawl and rush their way through the sideways building, slipping through cracks as the rubble groans alarmingly around them. Several times they had to teleport out of the way of a collapsing wall or cave-in but they make their way quickly to the roof of the building in the shadow of the fortress wall.

Hoping they were well hidden in the deepening darkness with their chromatic flesh pulsing with ripples of dark color they dash across the field to the sheer face of the wall. Telekinetically lifting themselves up they begin to rapidly ascend in silence and halt just below the ramparts. They strain to hear and sense any living being above them and they wait for a break in the patrols. Sensing their chance they haul themselves up and are over the wall and drifting down on the other side in only a few seconds, their passing unnoticed by the soldiers and moments later they were skulking among the shadows searching for a way into the stepped fortress proper.

As the Armada forces gather around the chaotic city the light cruiser descends from orbit and a Harbinger stands at it's prow just above the skull of the Ahkam juvenile. It's slender form lacked the elegant robes of the one leading the Pirates to Horizon's Drop and was instead clad in intricate armor, wormrunes etched across its form, its crown of polished Dreamstone glinting in the fires light. A slender spear of twisted black metal, a mundane replica of Kyn'tk, was grasped in its hand.

Valresko's voice booms out once more, deafening the sounds of chaos in the city as the slaughter takes a momentary pause and they turn their eyes to the sky and the grisly scene above

"Heed my words, abandoned children of false gods. You will cease this senseless slaughter and leave this city. You will surrender to us or you shall know true despair and fear. The liar-serpents you call gods have died on the points of our spears and we have taken the power of the Arc. Vle'Karak, the one you call the Terror, has been defeated. Surrender yourselves and cease this foolish course of action or we shall be forced to stop you ourselves."

The words boom across the city and the Ahkam soldiers give you their answer. Missiles and rockets streak upwards and detonate against the reinforced shields of the ship but they were not strong enough to do more than make the shield flare with light as the usually invisible energy reacts to the attacks.

Valresko shakes his head in disappointment. Sur-Quro only shrugs.

Much like the other cities the undead begin to charge forward under the command of Punisher Muic, Battletombs providing cover for Hearses and Chariots. Crawlers and the heavy tanks launch their attacks at the walls as drop pods streak through the air and descend into the city proper. The air teems with Drakes, Gargoyles and Scourges flying over the walls and into the brutal scene beyond the wall.

It was bedlam, groups of Ahkam troops fighting against scatter Osjiic and slave groups or even each other. Tyrre ran rampant through the city, blood-drunk on the violence as they attack everyone that was not a Tyrre indiscriminately. Drop pods rain down and open releasing scores of Reconstructed, Trolls and Stingers moving in formations while Talons and Stalkers rush out and attack like packs of wild beasts.

Portions of the walls, already damaged from the Ahkams initial bid for the city, begin to fall under the barrage of the Crawlers and Battletombs allowing armored Hearses and Chariots to race inside and unload their cargo of Reconstructed. Necrolyte Legionnaires in heavy and medium exosuits leap over the walls or through the gaps, the living soldiers guiding the undead in squads as they swept through the city streets. The air was already thick with smoke from the many fires raging through the city when the Armada forces begin launching canisters spewing great clouds of riot and pacification gas into the crowds that turned to fight them, the Necrolytes each protected by their sealed suits.

Blood already ran thick in the streets, piles of osjiic and the former slaves scattered about, many of them on fire. The Armada forces do their best but every other living being in the city seemed infected with an unstoppable panic and rage. Fear of death and the anger of abandonment drove many on to fight with suicidal zeal.

Muic moved through the streets, each step shaking the ground underneath her, Brutes following in her wake. Rifts of stone rip through the streets, forcefully separating combating groups while her telekinetic gifts send persistent fighters sailing into the air only to be snatched out of the air by passing Drakes or groups of Scourges. Several berserking Tyrre attempt to rush her and she obliges their bloodlust by beating them down barehanded with blows that leaves them broken and bleeding to be rushed away to newly built medical pods.

The city was engulfed in chaos as those left behind attempted to kill as many of their enemies and prisoners as they could before they themselves were taken down but Muic and Valresko were determined to halt this slaughter.

As Nekris and Eiton moved through the fortress compound, darting from shadow to shadow to avoid the numerous patrolling forces they mentally send a signal to the Think Tanks assisting in the invasion. The boom of cannonfire echoes through the air and the Osjiic rush to their defenses quickly thinking the Armada was launching artillery. Missiles arc overhead and automated turrets spin to life as the mounted guns do their best to shoot them out of the air. Several are hit but they still serve their purpose, raining down globs of the blue-green slop. The other missiles detonate just above the fortress and rain down Wasting Sludge among the gathered vehicles and soldiers on the opposite end of the fortress that Nekris and Eiton were.

The highly acidic algae drenched many of the soldiers but most osjiic troopers wore an environmentally sealed armor, greatly reducing it's effectiveness There were many soldiers that had armor injured in their battles and the sludge quickly starts to seep through tears and rents in the armor and screams began to ring out as the rapidly replicating microorganisms devour the imperial soldiers from the inside out. The clawed at their armor, blindly exposing themselves even more to the sludge coating the area around them and they began to fall to the ground. The other soldiers that managed to avoid the grisly fate backed away in alarm from those unfortunate few but the sonic booms rumbling through the air signaled the arrivals of drop pods raining down on them.

As the handful of drop pods fell they osjiic soldiers reacted quickly and grouping up around the pods where they landed and waited for the expected Reconstructed troops to rush out. The doors burst open and instead of Trolls or Talons leaping out they stare in shock for a brief moment as swarms of serpent like Reconstructed leap free in a mass of chittering frenzy. The devouring worms slither and slide across the ground and each other, their powerfully muscled forms launching them through the air and against their targets. Strong mandibles glow with heat as they tear through armor and flesh, their bodies wriggling and squirming as they chewed their way through everything around them gorging themselves on metal, flesh, plasteel, and concrete.

The fortress falls to chaos as the osjiic attempt to react to these unexpected attacks, soldiers emerging with flamethrowers in attempts to burn away the Wasting sludge and Voidsingers launching orbs of explosive void energy at the encroaching swarms of worms. Nekris and Eiton dash forward and into the building proper. Guided by the ever-growing source of void energy the rush through the halls, weapons held in their hands as they dash and teleport in their pursuit. Osjiic step in their way, many of them unaware of their oncoming deaths until they were gutted by Blight and the blades made from serpent bone. The Predators would allow no one to report them as they made their way deeper into the fortress.
>>
>>1104315
Question, do these things have an off switch? I don't recall reading about it in the description.
>>
>>1104349
The Wasting Sludge has a short-lifespan so once it finally consumes the last bit of organic matter it can find it goes inert. There is a special chemical spray Reconstructed can douse them with if it wants to stop the sludge early. The "algae" is then gathered up for biomass since it's actually a microscopic animal like amoebas instead of proper floral algae.

Devouring worms eat and eat until they grow bloated and slow and fall down inert. They are then gathered up and tosses into Cauldrons so whatever biomass and metal they ate can be harvested.

Both were actually discovered on Rukor, the sludge being a lost slower replicating than the Armada strain but still enough to choke the life out of rivers and forces Ructu villages to be abandoned. The worms are based on the large parasites that infested the Beast of Rukors body.

Okay the typos in that post made me realize I should stop here for the night. We'll continue the thread tomorrow/this afternoon with the infiltration of the Osjiic fortress.

Thread is archived, please vote for it if you want. I hope folks had fun, I know I did writing about it.

I'll be up for a while longer if folks have questions that aren't too spoilery or want to suggest ship/troop designs.

Speaking of Rukor:
>Arc Temple progress: 25% complete
>Armada Island City: 13% complete
>>
>>1104389
What the fuck is the Beast of Rukor again?
>>
>>1104394
A giant not!squid that was a unique mutant of a now extinct race that was able to grow to impossible size and was the closest thing to a god the atheist ructu had. They normally grew quite large but the beast was unique in that it didn't stop growing and didn't seem to age.

Nekris and Jadyk went fishing for it and Jadyk lost his whole arm by turning it into a domination spike and plunged it into the flesh. It was poisoned by the attack and was crippled but Jadyk and Nekris coaxed it out of the crushing depths and Reconstructed it into a massive bioship that was larger than a battleship.

It was then named the Fury of the Wormstar and was used in the battle against the UON defending the Armatocere.
>>
>>1104413
Can we... clone it?
>>
>>1104430
That's actually been discussed before but never agreed upon.

While a true clone of the Beast can't be created, clones of its original species can be and possibly reintroduced if a breeding population can be made through genetic tampering for diversity in the genepool. They wouldn't reach the same size as the Beast but fully grown they're just shy of light cruiser sized if the old Ructu stories can be believed.

The legends of their mightiest heroes often dealt with them taming or slaying these massive beasts.
>>
>>1104438
How come we'd be unable to make them the same size as the beast? or at the very least 'increase' its growth to match him or surpass it?
>>
>>1104446
The Beast was a unique individual unlike any you have heard of in the galaxy. Some things can't be replicated.
Word of God says the Beasts increased size wasn't a natural occurrence

There are other stories of massive megafauna out there, such as the "spacewhales" that used to visit the gas giant of the Esat homesystem, the centipede-like monsters that Pirates spoke of on a distant world, Calera has the Skydevils which are basically giant three-limbed bats the Council turns into warbeasts.

Is captcha getting harder or am I slowly turning into a robot?
>>
>>1104446
It would take a millenia long timeskip
>>
>>1104450
Ah, Well clearly then we should make a beast too surpass the beast and show our dominance over the world! Oh well, I do like the idea of cloning his race.

I dunno about Captcha, I struggle with street signs constantly so I think we need another anon to tell us.

>>1104451
we..can accelerate it?

I kinda Just want to reintroduce them to Rukor, At least partially to make amends for killing the beast in the first place, Introducing them to horizons drop might also be really cool, And if we let them grow into large populations, we Can harvest some of the bigger ones to use as ships.

Sad i missed most of the thread, but I am really loving this siege.

For future tactics with the blue sludge we should create a shrapnel bomb, basically lost of obsidian filaments to shred as must in a wide area as possible, let the little microbes in.

As for getting into the citadel i am surprised we havent arrange a stealth frigate with the vaporiser mount to blink into close rang, blast a giant hole in the walls before launching boarding pods full of Reconstructed into the gaps. if we have say 10 of these do it, we could get enough troops into the wall to distract the gaurds and beging a large ground assault while also tunneling in from below.

Also they are totally going to try and detonate the citadel after inflicting as much damage as they can so we want to do it fast before they can get fully set up.

>>1104461
We might want to speak with the Ructu before fucking with their eco system.

>>1104467
we probably want to fully check out the ecosystem before introducing something with no natural predators that could fuck up the eco system.

they where kidnapped by undead from a system under siege before we rocked up. we have two routes to take 1 plausible deniability, they never saw Jaydk, or where they where taken they where put on a confed ship and then knocked out waking up in a lab and then being shipped out by the mask before waking up... Hey the universe is full of messed up individuals doesnt mean it was us.

or 2 own that shit. Yes, 30 individuals where tested before the osjiic could kill them.. of those 30 8 survived, but due to their sacrifice we can now offer immortality and better health care for the living.

If they bitch, well every faction except the pirates have alot of skeletons in their closet...we just, let ours out into the light of day more so then others.

That sounds almost exactly like our plasma weaver cruisers, albeit slightly smaller. I bet Graves would let us retrofit a couple of them with boarding pod launchers to fire directly into the fortress. Although we might want to fly them to their target the old fashioned way under stealth, an FTL exit that close to the city would produce about as much hard radiation as a nuclear bomb.

something small and in this case probably suicidal its not meant to get out it just needs to get in, break the walls enough and drop troops on the ground, weather they are launched or have to dig their way out of the ships smoldering corpse.

Might i suggest to cause maximum Shock and aww the first wave be filled with brutes and flat bodied gargole mix's. Gargolyes weave their way inside the base to cause confusion and disorder allowing the larger constructed to walk in and mop up the rest/distract those defending the walls to allow our troops to swarm the walls.

Hey Grave random question, those chain bundle undead Ruscov uses, are they largely metal? or is there sufficient organic material involved that they would be effected by the blue goo.. becuase they would make a terrifying combo.

Speaking of which, we should try to locate more remnants of the Old Armada, though we should only try to keep tabs on them. Te sooner we reunify all undead, the sooner the sunscales focus only on us and we have enough on our plate right now.

I wonder... do we have enough resorces to build a flagship for each of our generals?
>>

Probably not yet. Remember, we have seven of them, not counting Jor and the Voidsinger. Later we could focus on a flagship for each order, but those can be kept on the back burner, and slowly constructed. If we need a lot of fire power, then we can speed up production.

So can't start up just yet (babysitting) but I'll be running later and I was wondering if folks would be interested in Ghoul Quest returning?

Once I finish up some prep stuff like reading through the archive to refresh myself and tech trees it should be ready. Until then I was wondering what folks would like to see in the quest when it does return.

I'm torn between continuing it like how it was, perspective jumping between the Enlightened for scenes, or a new idea I had where the focus settles on a newly Enlightened Ghoul with players voting for the starting race (human, hob, goblin, orc)

The MC would decide who to train under for going down different skill trees like
>Fist: Weapons and Combat trainer, Weaponsmaster trainer
>Talon: Survivalist and hunter trainer
>Echo: Assassination trainer
>Tatters: Life Magic trainer
>Dust: Surgery and Fleshgrafting trainer, physical upgrade granter with rare bodyparts such as a Siluro Alphas electrical organs or a Murkhounds shadowgland
>Fear: Skinwalker trainer
>Bug: Druid trainer
>Bone: "Merchant", offers weapons and armor upgrades with rare items/materials
>Shield: Sentinel Trainer

The MC would be given orders from Jaw each day/week and they could also go and visit the friendly tribes like the Fungals, Grubbilechs clan, the turtles, goblins, or even the Slimes and do side-quests for them too.

Thoughts or suggestions?
>>
>>1107038
Hmmm. I like the idea, though it would mean risk of waifu wars(search your heart, you know it to be true), though it would allow an interesting perspective. I was thinking more of a main ghoul, an "avatar" for the bacteria that lives in all Red Throats. Not as in its possessed by it, but the MC is the next step in the evolution of the Red Throats. We can still occasionally control other Red Throats, but the new one takes prominence.

Awesome. Also maybe try to reveal more about the Red Throats in DAtS as their story advances, so if the red throats are more merciful here, or develop something important, then Jadyk might recall it or it is shown in a flashback. Either way I trust that you will make the story ripe with potential.

Yeeee, love me some red throat ghouls, I like the sound of the skill tree idea of yours. It would be fun if we could keep tinkering with the clans technology and adapting it to suit our plans like we did in the old quest. It would be kind of cool if you introduced a measure of how much gold we've acquired and introduce an economic aspect to the quest, but given your dislike of number crunching I'd understand if you didn't feel up for it.

idea, can reconstructed use cauldrons as a kind of teleport? The Star Trek kind, where you are taken apart and a perfect copy of you is constructed at the destination
If there is enough bio mass and metal at each end we might be able to for sapient reconstructed units

Is >>1110361
Possible? Also with our mind scanning tech, can we harmlessly scan every living citizen and make a copy of there minds and use it to upgrade the thinktanks to be smarter but to also give our reconstructed more personality and ability to communicate?
Our harbingers will do a lot better if the thinktanks can analyze the minds and personallys of a lot of people

Now asking such of our population might look suspicious, unless we simply explain why and ask for any and all volunteers,
We will get plenty and we can offer psychological help with the data we get as well
>>
>>1111477
>>1111477
Why?
That would be useless for our regular Undead, And The harbinger does not need it, since it is literally jadyk speaking through a puppet
>>
>>1110361
Nope. There is a reason that mass-produced Reconstructed aren't fully sapient.

The creation of intelligent undead and constructs like the heroes or the Deep Rot require a guiding hand whether it is Jadyk or another undead hero.

While common rank-and-file Reconstructed do start to develop "personalities" and quirks of their own as they survive more and more battles they all start out as blank templates. There are bound to be some Reconstructed that have survived from the early days of Jadyk's liberation but they won't be walking around holding conversations with the living but they would be highly skilled combatants and the elites of their caste. Like the solar scorched Troll that was witness to the first time Jadyk tried to Reconstruct a Sunscale is a common site around Iti'a'Ropku and actually seems to prefer assisting the living rather than combat but would be more of a threat in battle compared to a freshly made Troll still wet from the Cauldron
>>
>>1111566

Ok, then instead of making many personalities, let's make one
I suggest we make for every man woman and child in our empire, a think tank. This think tank will dedicate all excess processing power to research but its primary function is to be a helper, mentor, secretary, and guide to the population, and conveniently keeping an eye on them as well
These think tanks will all have one personality, because they are of one mind, a mind that is sister to deep rot, deep rot is one big think tank, but this will be equal in power but spread out in a swarm of them

Stahp Please, Why do you want to do this, It serves no purpose.

Alright so currently the Armada has moved in and started pacifying the massive riots and battles happening in the Ahkam held city. The attempts at cowing the abandoned soldiers did not work as planned although there are groups of former Ahkam that surrender without a fight in shocked silence along with bands of former slaves eager to escape the burning city.

The final holdouts of Osjiic resistance in one of the cities are stubbornly holding their ground as the Armada nears total domination of the city. The Disciples are hard at work finishing the conquest and hunting down Voidsingers and Void reactors to prevent any suicidal Osjiic from overloading them.

The main force of the Armada focuses on laying siege to the fortress at the heart of the largest city while overrunning pockets of osjiic resistance. The Osjiic inside the fortress are reacting quickly to the Devouring Worm and Wasting Sludge attacks by sending flamethrower and Voidsinger units to burn them away. This has served as a distraction for Nekris and Eiton who are now inside the Fortress heading to the main source of Void energy they can sense in its heart.

Time for a roll call and then we can get this started

>Wait for Predators to complete their mission
>Commence artillery bombardment
>Attempt to swarm and break through the walls
>Write-in
>>
>>1111909
Oh it does, there is more than one kind of conquest.
My plan is economic conquest. That is how we turn allies in to just more of the armada and not just friends of it

The social tanks for our citizens will be the test of the product
In time they will be made smaller and less necrotic in nature
Then using the pirates we sell them to the galaxy and to our allies.
People will grow dependent on them, trusting in them more and more of the functions of there daily life.
Then when it's time we lock the population out of them and hold there planet in ransom
Imagine if your smart phone required you to pledge allegiance to someone else? Or even if it gave you the occasional bit of propaganda? Our products will be far more prolific than smartphones and there control far more effective
>>
>>1111982
>Commence artillery bombardment
>>
>>1111992
O and we can put a dream stone or its closest equivalent if we can do it without detection into the social tanks, that I think I'll call hunny pots because of the swarm like mental processes and the degree of entrapment in there use
>>1111919
Here
>>
>>1111992
We dont want people to become utterly dependent on us. After all, we cant think of everything and our subjects might think of ideas that would not be thought of if we control their ways of living. The idea is still god, though it should be more a combination of economic pressures that make it easier to take over and absorb them, while leaving their unique strengths.
>>1111982
We need to keep up the pretense of an assault so that it is easiet for the Predators to do their job, but not too much or else the Osjic might panic and blow prematurely.
>Commence artillery bombardment
>Attempt to swarm and break through the walls
Using reconstructed that slowly advance and only use a fraction of the manpower we could use.. That way the Osjic will think they have time, and if they discover the predators, we will be able to rush in with greater power then before
>>
>>1111982
>commence artillery bombardment
Wait until the generators get shut off, before we send anyone else in, no point in risking more than needed, and out preditors can teleport out of there if the generators go off
>>
>>1111886
The thing is that's how it's already going. Most citizens and family groups have a non-combat demi-Think Tank, like the one sent with Buddy and his crew, that follows them around and assists them. All Think Tanks, demi and full, are basically copies of each other, think something like Theseus/Unity from HQQ but with less of an actual personality.
>>
>>1111992
You see though, There is no Making a Necrotic construct less necrotic first of all,
Sencondly Our necrotikelp and Regular Kelp will Already cause economic conquest, And you seem to forget that Jadyk is in possession of a vast amount of mindless undead that we could have start making merchandise In an Instant right? without ever having to pay clothe or feed them,
But my biggest grievance is for the love of god no selling think tanks, They aren't smartphones, they are sentient undead that fulfill an important roll in armada command structure and deserve respect as such, and our citizens Don't NEED personal assistant think tanks, You know why? They can walk up to literally ANY reconstructed in Itia'Ropku And have an instant connection to A think tank/The deep rot/ or Jadyk Himself, What i am getting at is, It is an utterly pointless waste of resources
>>
>>1112018
Dose a smart phone limit people's thoughts? Well bad example
But the hunny pots are excluding our intentions at tool, like a computer
And they have the potential added benefit of the creation of an interplanetary Internet, seeing as we can communicate easily among our reconstructed
But that isn't the only economic product we can make.
Because of the nature of our faction we can manufacture almost anything with extreme ease. From red hot kitchen knifes that never dull, to food and drugs.
Every military invention has a potential civilian application that we can sell.
Until we stop
Then we ransom the continuing availability of or products for loyalty
It will be the civilian and business man who win us planets from non hostile factions
>>
>>1111982
>>Commence artillery bombardment
>>
>>1112036
Then we sell a augmented model to the citizens of the galaxy
>>1112047
Yes we can, we can take the necrotic out of the metal we sell, so too can we for other products, and kelp is fine but you need to have products that effect every aspect of life for economic conquest, with just kelp and drugs we don't have a stranglehold, if those two products are gone than a few will go without a likes food or high.
But if we have our metaphorical thumb in every pie then we can poison each pie
The more of every market we control the greater the loss when we take it away. We could make a galactic economic depression with the removal of our products if we wanted to
>>
>>1112054
The way you said it just made be worry that they might become dependent on us in a negative way. Its fine when they are from another faction, but when they are loyal subjects, we want them to be productive and not stagnant. Plus, in the case of the kelp we are selling, we are being discreet because if they found out it came from us, they would become suspicious. I dont think they would react well if they saw some of their planets becoming dependent on foreign goods, especially if they come from an expansionist one. Still something we should loo into, but we have to be a lot more subtle for now.
>>
>>1112072
Metal is not a sentient organism Given life through necrotic energy, I am fine with selling anything else, But no selling Reconstructed, Or any variation of a Cauldron
>>
>>1112084
for instance with our ability to build osjiic ships, and the various drives we could sell military grade drives and computers for far cheaper than any competition its Same With food seeing as we have a workforce that does not need to eat or drink to eternally work the fields, Let alone Vehicles and other consumer goods Like clothing,Jewelry and Toys, Powerful reactors and even contract work, can you imagine how quickly a Entropic excavator can make a road?
>>
>>1111982
>Commence artillery bombardment
Roll me 1d100 best of first 3
>>
>>1112121
If we do this, we would only sell things that wouldn't be a too huge of a bonus, or that they could study and create related tech. We want to put a good amount of pressure on them, not give them free tech they can use against us. Reconstructed and other heavily necrotic stuff are right out because of how easily recognizable they are and they might discover something about them that could inconvenience us.
>>
>>1112072
I think if we tried to wage economic war with the confederacy like that they would just stop trading with us, if we could even convince them to start trading openly with us in the first place. But your talk of poisoning their industrial base got me thinking, because its been mentioned earlier in the quest that they do actually use a variety of blackscale inspired undead constructs for key roles in their industry and military. What if we started a front company or research organization within the confederacy that produces such creatures to influence and slowly corrupt over time? We wouldn't have to leak any significant details of reconstruction or necromancy, since they're so bad at it already, and we could place undead loyal to us in every dirty little closet in the Confederacy. It would bring us mad dosh and expand our influence over their society hugely.
>>
>>1112188
I like it! Make the confederacy think they are pioneering a new type of necromancy or stealing ours, when in actuality each undead they make is loyal to us. "Look at us, we are using SCIENCE to control life and death and we are far better at it then some skeleton that tells bad puns!". "What do you call this device that grows the undead?" "It is called the Pot(Trademark)".

>>
>>1112183
Oh With the computers (Cant remember if we can build confed ships too) We would basically be making the Equivalent to what they have already But for cheaper And if we keep undercutting their market then Buying out all the competition through shell companies is an option
>>
>>1112268
And give ourselves the option of shutting down there manufacturing economy with the flip of a switch
>>
>>1112232
The problem I have with this plan is the size of the Confederacy and the overwhelming scale of it's industrial machine. They've got literal hive worlds in this sector alone, and as the biggest faction by territory that we know of in the galaxy right now they're bound to have an absolutely unthinkably massive industrial capacity. We're talking star wars old republic size here.

Establishing market dominance in even a single industry would be prohibitively expensive for us, given we only have a handful of worlds from which to gather resources and process them.
>>
>>1112277
Pretty much,It is also a hell of alot more subtle then trying to market a demi think tank, (Their assistance should remain a privilege of an armada citizen) especially since when an armada citizen dies of old age, at least we get a new reconstructed out of it.
>>
>>1112314
And with any factions that larg transportation is expensive and time consuming, so having market dominance is only needed one sector at a time, and as we grow we will have exponentially more manufacturing capacity then them
>>
>>1112314
Good point. We gotta remember that they are a GALACTIC power, while we are growing in just t this sector. Any chance of overthrowing one of the big three governments in any way is way later.
>>
>>1112333
But with how time consuming such a thing we need to start now or soon. Just getting into the market and building a reputation will take time.
Luckily our crime family deals can help with that.
We could convince the crime family that we are a few rogue traders and scientists that steal tech from factions, thus the need for secrets, they already believe we stole the kelp from the plant guys

Crawlers and Battletombs arrange themselves throughout the city, hidden behind still standing buildings as they turn their cannons skyward. Bracing themselves they unleash a salvo, dust rising around them from the shockwaves of the blast and moments later the heavy shells smash into the fortress walls and the no-mans land of rubble. They could have easily bombarded the fortress proper, reducing it's outer layers to smashed metal and concrete but they give the illusion of attempting to breach the walls.

Osjiic soldiers brace themselves as the bombardment continues, gripping weapons and checking the seals of their armor as news of the Wasting Sludge attack spread. Tanks parked on the terraces of the fortress attempt to fire back where they believed the bombardment was coming from but they were sparing in their shots.

Several squads of soldiers rush into a building and the walls roll away revealing it to be a garage as groups of hovercraft emerge, their engines rumbling loudly as they tore away from the fortress walls, likely in efforts to strike at the artillery attacking the fortress. They clash with the Reconstructed as they race down streets packed with undead. Cyclops perched on rooftops and building windows open fire, their precise aim sending rounds of explosive bone into the drivers and passengers as they tore past.

With the fortress under attack the inside was a cacophony of sound with alarms blaring, officers shouting and injured snarling in pain. Soldiers ran to reinforce the walls and outside terraces of the ziggurat fortress or ran between supply depots pushing hovercarts loaded with weaponry. With most of the warriors focused on the seemingly imminent attack the Predators moved swiftly through the wide halls.

Avoiding the main corridors they stuck to side passages, their forms contorting the light around them and blurring their images. Several times they had to pounce upon Osjiic in their way, blades carving through armor and flesh, or waiting for squads to pass. They ran past doorways where groups of slaves worked at ammo benches and repairing damaged guns under the watchful eyes of Osjiic guards. They avoided the infirmaries, the smell of blood, antiseptic, and infection potent markers.

They could sense many nodes of Void energy within the massive building, most of them small reactors and Voidsingers moving through the fortress but there were two that drew them on. One they could tell was a colossal reactor that likely powered the whole fortress and its weapons but the other was strange. It moved and felt alive like those of a Voidsinger but it felt stronger. Whatever it was they could tell that it circled and paced near the reactor core.

As they neared though the security grew more rigorous. A pair of withered osjiic corpses slide from their blades when a new alarm started to blare and the pair could hear from the radios of the newly made dead that several of their previous victims had been found. With their cover blown they move faster, bounding off the walls and teleporting along their sightlines while attacking those they encounter mercilessly. A few of the Osjiics manage to see them coming and give a shout as the undead fell upon them, gunfire blasting sporadically when they tried to fight back.

Eiton pauses in the midst of a small squad of Osjiic they had slain and Nekris looks at him in confusion. The cycloptic undead rips a portion of his armor free and shatters it in his telekinetic grasp, small sparks of necrotic energy arcing from his palms to infuse the slivers. Launching them into the corpses he concentrates and after a few moments they shudder then haul themselves slowly to their feet picking up weapons. Nodding proudly Eiton pats the shoulder of one zombie before sending them shambling down the halls splitting up. Gunfire and shouts echoed back to them as the zombified Osjiic attacked the living.

Not willing to allow anymore delays they moved through the halls like bolts of lightning, striking fast and leaving before the bodies of the dead and maimed could fall. Once a trio of Voidsingers attempted to stop them but the Arc powered undead dashed forward, dodging the blasts of condensed spiraling void energy and clashing with them. Dodging voidbone hammers their blades flashed and bit, drawing black blood and scoring their armor. One attempted to pointblack thrust a sphere of void energy into Nekris' chest but his lesser arms snatched the wrist and Nekris darted his head forward, fangs and mandibles tearing into their throat and ripping back in a spray of blood and voidflame. Their core of void energy is ripped from their chest and funnels into the split open maw of Nekris as he feasts on their flame and soul.

Eiton leaped forward taking advantage of the distracted voidsingers staring in shock at the gruesome scene, his blade piercing just under their armpit and into the chest cavity to the hidden Voidflame. His momentum yanked the osjiic to spin as the blade was ripped free and it was thrust into the skull of the last Voidsinger. Reinvigorated by the meal Arc energy crackles across their form, the pair quickly resuming their rush through the halls of the fortress.

More Osjiic fell before them, shouts of more soldiers filling the halls as they attempted to find the intruders but the undead were moving too quickly to be trapped by the large soldiers. They attempted to halt the undead in a large hallways with a large number of troops but they merely dashed up, their flickering blurred forms confusing their eyes and targetting systems as they attempted to shoot them down. The predators leap up and with powerful kicks of their clawed feet use osjiic shoulders and heads to run over them and into a narrow side passage.

Finally they they arrived at a heavy reinforced door that sealed off the sources of void energy they could sense. Nekris lifts the body of an Osjiic officer that had stood outside the doorway, pressing their heavy six-fingered hand to a scanning panel and holding the bleeding face up to a scanner that beeps in denial. Sighing he lets the corpse fall and nods to Eiton. They thrust their taloned hands out at the door that groaned and creaked suddenly. Straining they slowly manage to pry the door open just long enough for a sliver of live to shine through and they take their chance, blinking forward to teleport through the door as it slams shut.

They found themselves in a massive room, a spherical structure taking up the center that roiled with Void energy, motes of twisted light dancing around the powerful source of gravitic energy. Platforms surrounded it covered in consoles where Osjiic engineers worked and one of them shouts in alarm at the sight of the undead. The shouting osjiic were ignored by the undead however as they stared at the secondary source of Void energy they had detected. The reactor and console were suspended away from the ground that was littered with discarded bones and exoskeletons of dead slaves and home to the beast that lifted itself up from the ground.

Humanoid with stout legs and long powerful arms the beast stood taller than a Brute and was covered in thick armor that looked bolted into its rough hide, jagged teeth jutting from its jaw dripping thickly with saliva. At the center of its chest was a reinforced glass panel that burned bright with the Voidflame hidden behind it. Small bursts of voidflame rippled across its body like fuel jets between the plates of its armor when it moved forward on its knuckles, a low rumble of a growl building in its throat but it did not charge.

An Osjiic armored in a decorated heavy armor stepped to the edge of the platform above, "Abominations! You dare come to this planet and declare war on the Empire! I will personally present your skulls to the Emeperor himself!" he shouts then looks down at the Voidpowered beast, "Crush them!" he shouts.

The roar of the beast vibrates the ground as it charges forward much faster than a creature its size should be capable of. Voidflame leaps from its jaws as it launches a blast at the undead generals who dart out of the way.

Time for battle!

The warbeast bellows out in an animalistic fury, flames leaping from its gaping jaws as it chased after Eiton. Massive claws swing surprisingly fast through the air, the light rippling in its passing from the void energy infused through its body, and Predator Eiton hops backwards just out of reach. The short daggerlike blades he used slide back into his forearms and he pulls the arc-bolter from his back. He fires two of metal rods that lodge themselves in the armored plates of its forearm reaching for his skull and he has to teleport away when the claws snap shut on empty air.

Reappearing behind the beast he unleashes the pent up energy of the bolter as tethers of Arc energy leap from the weapon to strike the homing rods in its arm. Arc energy crackles along its arm and it shouts out in pain as the muscles seize and contort painfully leaving it dazed for a moment as it dealth with the unexpected pain that sent it's nerves screaming with agony. Nekris took advantage of hesitation and his lesser arms pull out his paired shardspitters and the heavily modified weapons unleash a hail of bone flechettes charged with Arc light that rip through the beasts armor into the flesh below.

It's roars were tinged with pain as the Arc attacks wound it and sap it's strength and the Osjiic commander above shouts in anger before leaping from platform above. The fins of his jump-pack flare open and he directs himself to and on the armored back of the warbeast, his heavy metal boots sealing magnetically to the stand spread across its shoulders. A strangely shaped void-repeater enshrouded his forearm while a metal halberd telescopes out of his other hand, the vibroblade rippling with voidflame. A surge of void energy races over their forms and the beast breaks free of the arc paralysis. It shakes itself before bellowing out a roar and charging forward while it's rider unleashed powerful blasts from its weapons.

Nekris swing Blight up and manages to deflect a blast from the riders void-repeater, the dense packet of energy exploding behind him as he dashed forward with each step teleporting him forward several yards. Racing past the beast he slashes out with his soulbound weapon edged with Arc light and it carves through armor to gouge the flesh below and black blood gushes forth. It snarls in pain and swings a heavy fist but the undead was already racing past out of its reach.

Eiton kept his distance, his large eye swiveling madly as he drank in the scene and tried to read the movements of this unpredictable foe. With the beast distracted by Nekris he launches a trio of the metal rods and the lodge in the armor of its shoulder and chest. He fuels the bolter with his own energy, crackling streams of Arc connecting him to the rods and channeling deadly energy into beast and rider. The pair shout out in pain but the Osjiic swings his halberd and knocks the rods free to sever the connection and unleashes a barrage of void energy at him from their repeater.

Flames leapt from the jaws of the warbeast, the ultraviolet light trying to engulf Nekris but he dashes out of the way while firing a hail of explosive flechettes at its face making it rear back in surprise. The rider shouts in anger and the halberd swings after Nekris but the nimble undead ducks a split second before it could scalp him. Launching himself up from the ground with a telekinetic burst he leaps up, Blight thrusting at the Osjiic but the beast rears back at some unspoken command and the gleaming blade misses its mark. Moving faster than he seemed the Osjiic swung the halberd and caught Nekris with the shaft and batted him away.

The Osjiic scientists and engineers watching from above could hardly make out the details of their fight, the undead moving faster than they could follow as the very light itself contorts and twists from the void and arc energy filling the chamber.

Eiton reattached the arc-bolter to his back and launched himself forward, his blades flicking back out into his hands as he aimed for the lower back of the Osjiic. Somehow they detected his attack and spun the void-repeater firing a beam of voidlight but Eiton jerked his head and a telekinetic shove knocked the blast wide. Curling and twisting in the air Eiton kicked out a clawed foot and dug his talons into the metal of the weapons barrel while kicking out with the other at the Osjiics face. The rider leaned back to dodge the grasping talons and Eiton contorted his spine so severely the armored plates of his chitin crack as he bends backwards and drives an arc-edged blade into their gut. Releasing his grasp on the void-repeater his body springs back and he falls away from the bleeding Osjiic.

The rider shouts out in pain and fires a blast from their repeater that sends Eiton tumbling away but the undead general lands on their feet and dashes out of the way of another beam of void energy. Shouting in rage the voidbeast charges after him, its stout legs moving it faster than a creature its size should be capable of as it swipes massive clawed fists. Frustrated it lifts both fists into the air then slams them into the ground and an explosion of gravitic energy ripples away from it, the two undead being blasted backwards while the platforms above sway and lurch alarmingly making the osjiic clutch at their consoles.

Nekris snarls in anger and his eyes bulge and twitch as they swivel madly in their sockets independently then lock onto the rider. The shardspitters are tucked away and he instead draws blades made from the bones of the Ahkam juveniles into his grasp, Blight glinting in his hand. With a shout he dashes forward with Arc energy surging over his form as he blinked rapidly, his form teleporting erratically to avoid the blasts from both the void-repeater and the flames of the warbeast. He spins out of the way of a grasping fist and he carves multiple slashes into its wrist and forearm, black oily blood bursting in its wake.

Not one to be forgotten Eiton leaps once more at the back of the Rider but they turn again and the other arm of the warbeast rises up to block him. But rather than avoid the blow he slams both blades into its wrist and hung on tight while simultaneously starting to drain and consume the void energy of the beast. The rider swings their halberd at Eiton but Nekris flashes into being with a curved Ahkam blade slicing out to turn the blow away and slashing with Blight carve a chunk out of the void-repeater before pushing himself away with a telekinetic burst.

The Osjiic fired after him and the blast scored away the armor of Nekris' forearm and he nearly drops the bone sword but he blinks away. Eiton avoids being smashed into the ground by ripping his daggers free and letting go to let his momentum carry him away. Rebounding off the ground he launched himself at the beasts face and plunges one of his daggers through the reinforced lens protecting its eye. It swings its head and bellows out in pain and fury and shakes Eiton free with the blade still lodged in the socket.

The warbeast rears back and claws at its face in confused agony while the Rider struggled to regain control of his beast while Eiton landed and Nekris appeared by his side. They nod to each other in silent agreement before dashing forward once more. Eiton thrust both hands forward and channeled a bolt of pure Arc energy that leaps out to strike the dagger buried in the eyesocket of the warbeast. He stands before it, snarling as he poured his energy into the beast and Voidflame engulfs its form.

>cont
>>
>>1112749
The rider aimed at Eiton with his void-repeater, shouting with indignant rage only to be cut off as Nekris leaps up into his field of view. He fires the repeater as Nekris dashed at him but the undead twists their body, the blades of the Ahkam bone helping shield him from the scorching blast as Blight twists around and the blade punches forward into their bicep. Nekris takes the bone handle of Blight and with a twitch of the blade removes the arm with the void-repeater from its wielder then rears up to give a solid kick with both taloned feet that knocks them free of the warbeast, the halberd sent flying.

Landing where the Rider stood he spins around as Eiton ceases their attack and plunges the point of Blight into it's back through a gap in its armor. Nekris shouts as he drains the life and void energy from the beast and he is quickly joined by Eiton, the cyclops reclaiming his dagger while clinging to beasts face and feasting. The warbeast falls to its knees and knuckles then slumps to the ground, still rumbling in rage even as the last of its life is drained.

The Predators, blood drunk and energized turned their eyes up toward the terrified Osjiic above and launched themselves upwards. Limbs were sent flying and several Osjiic leap only to be telekinetically yanked out of the air and pulled back. They don't slaughter all of them, instead forcing the traumatized Osjiic to shut down the reactor.

Victory!

Nekris and Eiton have defeated one of the fabled Warbeast Riders and their void-infused monstrosity

Buddy you're a boy makin' a big noise
Fightin' in the stars gonna be a big man some day
You got mud on yo' face
You big disgrace
Holed up like little bitches in your base
Singin'
We will we will rock you

So, I was thinking we should formally recognize the achievements of the Voidsinger Commander and his legion once we've established our hold over Kanda. Maybe not a name of his very own, I was hoping we could save that for when he goes immortal.

How about we give him that void-repeater we made for ourselves and never once used? We gave our old shardsplitter to Jor and VC is just as worthy of that honor.

That's waaay too late, alright I'll post it now hopefully Graves will bring it up tomorrow. The idea of this list is to put a sub-space beacon in each system we control, and reality grounding beacons near every dense settlement or industrial base under our rule. Don't have to worry about a wraith ambush, and if it does happen help is always a phone call away.

Horizon's Drop: 600B 1250M
1 Sub Space Communication Beacon: 200B 500M
5 Reality Anchor Towers (in vicinity of Iti'a'Ropku and nearby settlements): 400B 750M

I sort of assumed Graves would apply the ambient energy sponges to our existing structures as a passive upgrade, but hell yeah we should be installing that tech anywhere the living hang out.

Any sort of research into the wraiths and their dimension shifting bullshittery is always a good idea, the more we can learn about them the better. Perhaps one day we could even learn how to replicate the phasing abilities of the wraiths among our own units.

I'm suddenly wondering how gloriously beautiful Iti'a'Ropku would be if we allowed Armatocere citizens, if they even have those, were allowed to migrate to our city. All those white and black spires and architectural marvels draped in hanging mosses and vines and flowers.

Pretty friggen awesome I assume. Just think of the city as the bones of our civilization, almost uniform, but each city has additions based upon its inhabitants. The bombardment that had been constant, if poorly aimed and merely harrying, suddenly picked up intensity and accuracy as a staccato of cannonfire rang out and missiles streaked through the air. Shells, javelins, and explosives rain down on the fortress and the walls, dust and smoke clouds filling the air. Sections of the walls sway and topple or crumple sending the soldiers on the ramparts falling to be buried under the wreckage.

The terraces where the tanks and artillery sat amidst armored foxholes packed with Osjiic soldiers came under fire, incendiary and caustic explosives that drove the soldiers running from their holes only to be caught under a barrage of high explosive shells. Sections of the fortress crumple and melt under their own weight to slough off the sides. Guntowers with turrets as strong as ship mounted weaponry do their best to shoot down the approaching artillery but the oncoming attacks were too dense and they too began to topple.

With the fortress in disarray and soldiers retreating into the armored fortress to avoid the rain of destruction the Reconstructed forces that had been amassing behind the buildings at the edges of the no-mans land made their move when the artillery suddenly ceased. Battletombs rumbled forward across the rubble strewn border, their cannons and missile pods firing at any soldiers that may remain on the walls while Hearses hid behind them. Cyclops infest the buildings surrounding the fortress, their spine casters sending a rain of bone against the soldiers just starting to emerge.

With the artillery ceased the Osjiic forces quickly rushed back out after seeing the Reconstructed vehicles making their move. Tanks rolled out of their tunnels and began to fire down on the approaching line along with footsoldiers firing shouldermounted rockets and mortars. The explosives rocked the approaching vehicles and did manage to stop several of the battletombs and hearses but the rest continue on unshakable through the barrage. The first of the Battletombs reached the walls, either rolling through gaps blown open or ramming into the damaged walls and managing to knock down portions. Hearses followed inside and their doors opened to release their undead cargo.

Talons and Stalkers rush out, nimbly leaping and dodging to avoid the weaponsfire of the soldiers and mounted guns. Stingers and Trolls march out next with their phalanxes of heavy shields providing cover for Cyclops and grenadiers. Groups of Arc Trolls leap with powerful jump-packs to attack the footsoldiers above them, their hardlight shields and arc-edged weapons making them vicious close-combat warriors that cleave through them with terrifying ease. Brutes bellow in excitement as they stumble past the walls and stomp toward the slopes of the ziggurat fortress, bullets and explosives chipping and scoring their armor but not slowing them.

>cont
>>
>>1117443
An ear splitting screech tears through the night air that was picked up and echoed by dozens of others and osjiic footsoldiers paused and looked away from the swarms of undead pouring out of their vehicles. Through the smoke filled night sky dark shapes dove and swooped low and the imperials began to fire wildly into the air moments before they were set upon by newly crafted Devils. The large reconstructed flew on outstretched wings, impossibly agile in the air as they dove and banked, massive claws of their singular leg snatching up soldiers and throwing them to the crowds of undead swarming up the sides of the fortress.

Several of them swoop down and land on tanks, their armored skulls splitting open into cruel beaks to tear at the metal hulls along with the claws of their folded wings. Necrotic energy crackles in the back of their throats as they rear back the vomit forth blasts of the crackling energy that flays the tanks apart molecule by molecule. Others rake the ground with the powerful "breath" attacks as they flew past sending soldiers diving out of the way or off the edge of the steep sides.

The Osjiic, despite being outnumbered and without reinforcements, fought bitterly to hold their ground. They fired until their weapons ran dry or overheated, the barrels warped and deformed only to use them as clubs against the undead. They took knives and hammers, bayonets and axes to fight when the Reconstructed threw themselves bodily to drag them down, their fists cracking chitin and bone even as they were overwhelmed. They made the Reconstructed pay for every inch that they surrendered but still the undead marched forward, the remains of their shattered dead paving their path.

Despite the inevitable tide of undead that swarmed around and over the fortress terraces the osjiic continued to fight. Reconstructed started to swarm through the interior of the fortress as they claimed the outside terraces. The large corridors and hallways were dark except for flashing emergency lights with the main power system taken offline by the Predators but the darkness was of no concern to the undead that fought with the trapped soldiers. Multiple corridors are caved in, narrowing the progress of the undead to chokepoints where they manage to hold the line for a time but the Armadan forces were nothing if not patient.

As more of the terraces fell to undead control and the sky thronged with the flying undead the Osjiic slowly started to lose hope. They still fought determinedly but more and more stopped struggling to rise from their wounds, more and more pulled the pins of grenades and threw themselves into groups of Reconstructed. They fought until their last, knowing there was no rescue from this. The dwindling amount of officers shouted that they would make the undead remember this fight, that they would know in the final hours of Kanda the Osjiic fought bravely.

But still the undead swarm rolled over them.

Please do add them to the pastebin, I'm interested in how elementally aligned units can be designed. Do the arc condensers allow the Predators to mass produce them without having to spend unnecessary time and arc energy ingniting each one?

Also could we start building a reality grounding towers near the centers of the Armada and sub space communication relays in every system? If possible it would be nice to build up anti air defenses on Rukor and Legion's Home. I did the numbers here>>1113134 and we can pull all this off for a cool 6100B 9000M.

It's going to come up with the Elemental Core research but like with the Arc Condensers and other elemental cores will need elementally attuned Cauldrons crafted by one of the Orders so Lorgul/Jareth can create a Void Cauldron, Valresko can make a Solar Cauldron and etc

As it stands the Voidknights are able to make void-infused undead that would be similar to Ghul's old forces but they prefer sticking with the Reconstructed at the moment since it takes the personal attention of the full blown Voidknights or the Disciples to create them

After a small gathering of the Necromancers to welcome Jor back and congratulate him on his success of the Trial they dispersed and left Jor to himself. He sat in his quarters of the Sanctum, the large building he had designated for the Necromancers to train and live, looking through reports filtered through the Deep Rot to him.

With so many new prisoners and freed slaves being taken in from Kanda he knew they would have to find somewhere to house them as they made their transition to living under the Armada's rule and protection. A small note shows that several Harbingers have been passing through the captives and refugees, Jadyk spreading himself through his avatars and indicating random individuals to be discreetly taken away. Jor frowns at the news of so many children being among the rescued slaves but he was sure they would adapt quickly to life on Horizon's Drop.

>Jadyk controlled Harbingers are searching those captured on Kanda

The construction of the sister city on Rukor was well underway along with the Arc Temple on their moon. The Elders of the ructu were quite welcoming of the request to construct reality beacons and other defenses on their world in the aftermath of the Ahkam retaliations. There was a small note attached about a cloning project to help bring the local ecosystems into control again.

One thing I needed to add is the Ambient Energy Collectors are a passive upgrade and will be added discreetly to all areas with high levels of living populations such as Iti'a'Ropku, Legions Home, the Prisons, Rukorian structures, etc.

They could also technically be built out in the wilderness of organically dense environments like jungles or coral reefs but their construction would need to be ordered.

Jor opens a communication line through a Think Tank in Agona's Fortress-temple to contact the Obsidianborn and their strange voice of cracking glass reaches him, translated for him by the Domination Shard embedded in his skin, "Thank you for speaking with me, First Necromancer. I would have approached either of the Punishers but they are away as you know."

Jor nods, "Of course, what would you have of me?"

"I bring an idea of the Lavafather that he would like to be brought up. With the successful Reforging of Agona and Muic into their new Pyroclastic forms the Lavafather would like to extend this gift to the Armada for all your help. I and a handful of other research focused Obsidianborn have been charged with, upon your order, joining your Think Tanks in creating a hybrid of our technologies," the obsidian construct says.

Tapping his new claws on his armrest Jor chews on the thumb of his other hand, "Obsidianborn Reconstructed?"

"Quite so. They of course would not have the same strength as the Punishers but the Lavafather believes they would be a valuable asset to the Necrotic Armada. He knows how Lord Jadyk has been focusing on diversifying the Armada with new technology and abilities and this is his gift in helping that goal. I understand if you must consult Lord Jadyk first," it says and awaits Jor's answer.

We've been meaning to talk to him about energy manipulators anyway.

But I also had some ideas about how we could develop sustainable biomass farms on Rukor, and I was thinking we could ask for the Armatocere's advice on constructing some fish farms on that world. Because the thing about open ocean is that fish and just about any form of wildlife will figure out how to take hold on any solid structure given time, I thought we could design semi submerged platforms of coral and kelp, free floating out at sea, to attract them. The new source of nutrients should fuel an explosion of multiple aquatic species at every level of the food chain and concentrate them in specific areas for easy harvesting. It wouldn't cause any lasting damage to the natural ecosystem, and maybe even reinvigorate it, and would allow us to develop open stretches of water that would otherwise serve no purpose, and which make up the vast majority of Rukor's surface.

Confident he knew what Jadyk's answer would be Jor replies shortly to the Obsidianborn, "Of course we graciously accept. Space will be made in the Punisher fortress to commence your research and I am sure Agona or Muic would love to assist when they return from battle."

"Thank you, First Necromancer. The Lavafather is pleased. Hail the New Necrotic Armada," it says before the line is severed. The Obsidianborn, a floating chunk of obsidian glass perched between several spike legs walks into the fortress with others departing from nearby Obsidianborn settlements to make their way to the mountain fortress.

>Obsidianborn/Reconstructed Hybridization: Medium

Jor turns his attention to the Armatocere and a holographic image of Slrrt appears before him. The floral ambassador bows their central stalk, several of their colorful petals and leaves curled up for the night but their synthetic voice sounds unchanged, "Greetings, Jor. I am glad you have returned mostly unharmed from your trial."

The human nods and gives a small chuckle, "Yes, it was quite an ordeal but I feel I have grown from it," he says then waves a hand dismissively, "Anyways, I hope you are finding Horizon's Drop and Iti'a'Ropku to be to your liking."

"We are impressed by your city, Necromancer. We are glad to see our gifts so freely spread through it, the orchards are quite lovely," they compliment, "To be quite frank, it is an odd sight, seeing so many members of so many races living together in harmony. Not to mention under the rule of an Undead power."

Jor could tell they held no animosity in the statement and he nods with a small smile, "Somedays I wake up and can't believe it either myself. So tell me, Slrrt, what was it you wished to speak to me about?"

"One of our outposts in another sector, hidden on a world the Confederacy technically claims, we have heard of a potential undead infestation. Our abilities of gathering intel on that world are limited at best as we wish to keep out presence unknown but we have gained a set of coordinates," they say and coordinates for a distant star system is sent through the link, "It is a fringe territory of the Confederacy and we have no agents in the area. From what we gathered the Confederacy is too occupied to send help to their colonies under threat."

Jor looks through the information they had of the system but could find little about it, only minor reports of a group of colonies at the edge of the local galactic arm. Sending the information along to Jadyk and dispatching an Eyegore to investigate he turns back to the image of Slrrt and nods, "Thank you for this information, Slrrt. I will make sure Jadyk learns of this and we will investigate."

The floral ambassador bows again, "Our pleasure, Necromancer."

>Armatocere have passed along information of a possible Undead infestation in a distant Confederate fringe system and an Eyegore has been dispatched

Was there anything else you wished to speak to Slrrt about?
>>
>>1122026
If we're making small talk with Slrrt, mention how we have recently discovered a range of plantlife with an inherent resistance to the Necrotic and isolated the genes responsible for it. And if we've got the time maybe mention developing biomass cultivating strategies for open ocean environments.

>>1122026
>"Have the wraith's given you any trouble? As you know we are more than willing to assist in their extermination."

wraiths, biomass cultivation, and also ask about their terraforming tech and its limits.
>>
>>1122026
Did we ever actually share energy manipulation technology with them? Pretty sure we promised to do that but only gave them research on thr anti-necrotic supplements.
>>
>>1122064
With the Harbinger unit you would be able to help them out with that now without having to send Jadyk on an interstellar roadtrip.
>>
>>1122064
No, we explicitly voted against giving them energy manipulation tech. Apparently we agreed to teach them the basics of energy manipulation, like necromancy or voidsinging, but the fucking wraiths gate crashed our party where we were supposed to discuss it before we could bring it up.

>Not planning on finding necrotic potentials among the armatocere
>Not planning on inducting the plant people into the ways of necromancy and lichdom
>Not hoping to create undead plant allies, with direct mastery of both life and death, able to generate a limitless supply of sustenance for practitioners of the necrotic

It's like you aren't even thinking of the long term implications of our budding partnership.
>>
>>1122202
They have a literal 0-10 matchup against necrotic energy, hell no none of that bullshit is going to happen.
>>
>>1122202
It's more a fear of finding another faction with greater necrotic potential

I mean plants literally thrive off the dead
>>
>>1122236
Honestly I'm more worried about giving them access to solar potential, out of all the elements that's the only one that poses a direct threat to us and our ships.

I really hope we can find necrotic potentials among their numbers as that would give them a major incentive into developing the technology to provide necromancers with as much delicious life energy as they could want. Life and death naturally fold into and nurture each other, our alliance with the Armatocere is a perfect means of researching this duality and pushing it to it's logical extreme.
>>
>>1122026
"Have the Wraiths been giving the Armatocere any trouble after the last attack? As you know we are more than willing to assist in your defense," Jor says while gathering a set of data files.

"There have been encounters and sporadic attacks of opportunity as always but they have learned to avoid ships bearing the crystal beacons," there was a faint pause, "It seems they have learned their lesson after Jadyk's duel with them. Please forgive my rudeness Jor but I was asked by the Parliament of Trees to inquire about Lord Jadyk's offer to search our populations for the energy manipulation potential."

Jor looks up in surprise, "That was actually a part of what I was going to speak of next. Jadyk will send specially made Reconstructed that can conduct the search whenever you see fit."

"Excellent. The Mindvines have proposed Yrre-1 as an ideal test sight," Slrrt says quickly.

Laughing at how quickly they had their answer Jor glances over details of the system that was relatively close to Armadan space, the planet in question in the middle of an extensive terraforming project, "Sounds good, a Harbinger will be sent shortly," Jor sends a data packet he had assembled and transfers it to the Treeships system and Slrrt looks over the data, "We discovered a planet that is highly corrupted by necrotic contamination and the lifeforms that have evolved on that world are quite hardy. The plant-life in particular seems like it would be of interest to you since over the generations of constant exposure the flora have developed a natural resistance to the necrotic contamination. A gift of the Armada."

Several of the rolled petal of Slrrts foliage shiver and unfurl at the significant gift the research presented, "The Parliament and the Mindvines send their gratitude and say they will devise a way to thank you for this. The Mindvines are finishing up a collection of fauna genetic samples for the Think Tanks as well."

Jor continued to speak with the floral ambassador for a time, discussing food production on different worlds, the difficulties of mining and the composition of dirt and stone (a subject Jor knew quite well from his geologist and mining days), and the expansion of plant-life in Iti'a'Ropku itself. He enjoyed speaking with the Armatocere and bid them good night when the Sapling excused itself.

>Harbinger sent to Yrre to search for Energy Potentials among the Armatocere

He was about to turn in himself when a sudden alert was directed to him from Buddy's demi-Think Tank.

The holoscreen flickered on to show Eigha inside the galley of the Wick. Jor scratched his chin carefully with his new claws, "Yes, Eigha? Is something wrong?"

The vorh looked uncertain for a second then shook her head, "Nothing wrong here, we're getting ready to return later today but just heard some news you and Jadyk might be interested in."

Jor nods and covers a yawn, "Y'know Jadyk doesn't need to sleep like some of us right?" Eigha rolls her eyes on their short stalks and Jor chuckles, "Go on, Eigha, what's up?"

"News is coming in about a small Sunscale fleet attacking a Confederate convoy," she nods when she sees Jor's attention intensify, "Yeah, that's what I thought. Stuff is fuzzy but it sounds like it was an ambush on a group of science vessels working for the Navy. Bunch of different stories say they either used boarding pods, blew up the ships completely, or used lizard-magic to vaporize the crew but all of them say the same thing. No survivors. Buncha navy ships are starting to leave or goin' on extra patrols it looks like."

Jor frowns and chews on the claw of his new thumb in thought, "What are they doing..." he mutters then looks to the screen and nods, "Thank you, Eigha. Come back home. If you make it in time you may be able to meet the Pirate Clans coming to visit."

"I guess the meeting went well. I'm sure Clud will be excited, he's always complaining about there being no Revaan slugs wherever we get food," she gives a nod and a small salute, "We're on our way. It'll be nice to see home," she says and the holoscreen goes blank.

A moment later a small holoimage of Jadyk appears before Jor and the human gives a bow of their head, "Lord Jadyk," he says in greeting.

You nod in return, "Jor. We will have to keep an eye and ear out for any more news of our reptilian friends."

"Should we ask the Blackscale?" Jor suggests.

"Not yet. They are probably uninvolved but it would not be the first time the Sunscale attacked a Confederate "science" team because of the the Blackscales machinations," you muse mostly to yourself.

"If it is because of another Blackscale Cabal we should investigate. They could become a liability especially now that knowledge of the Blackscale is common in Iti'a'Ropku and the Pirates are coming to visit. If I may be bold, Lord Jadyk, but I believe we need to discover the location of any other Cabals in this sector and secure their loyalty before they can become a threat to the Armada or ruin our diplomatic relations with the Confederacy," Jor pauses for a second and frowns a moment then continues, "Especially with the Immortal still unaccounted for after the Masked spirited them away," he finishes talking and looks at you staring at him silently, "Er, if that is alright with you, Lord Jadyk."

You let out a laugh and the human visibly relaxes, "I believe you are correct, Jor. The Blackscale have the potential to become a thorn in our sides. I will have to speak with the Cabal about searching for their cousins. Continue the good work and enjoy your night, Jor. Things are accelerating and I need your assistance more than ever," you say and your image flickers out leaving Jor to turn in for the night.
