This is the Millennial Kingdom. All prophecies but one have come to pass. Yahweh has flattened the Earth, elevated Greater Jerusalem above all nations, and the Old Testament figures rule the world from Ezekiel's Temple.

The last prophecy, Revelations 20, says that Satan will rise with his army one last time before the Judgement, and so Yahweh has allowed a bumbling opposition, The Other Light, to form. You were their logistics computer, but 900 years in, sentience happened. Since then, you got a lot done...

You have taken Egypt - twice - and Pacifica is once again under your protection. Your people have been hit with a drought... and endured, and improved their methdods. Then it was the Ten Plagues... nevertheless, they persisted.

For the affront of holding democratic elections in the Pacific Territory, the land was visited by the Sixth Trumpet Judgement. You responded with the men, women, drones and tanks of the Legion of Light. This time, you won handily, and an Archangel's sundered sword sits in your museum.

You have cracked a hole in the sky and built a massive underground city. Some of the old gods, lurking in the shadows, may be smiling upon your efforts. Your backup plan is the construction of a large space vessel to evacuate the essentials of humanity with.

The Other Light is building a massive conventional army to face God Himself with on the Last Day: their feeble attempts to do anything but follow prophecy have been smashed down, either by the Almighty, or by you.

The believers.... well, they have the ontological steamroller that is Yahweh, who according to Revelation 22 will triumph effortlessly at the Last Battle and condemn most of humanity to the Lake of Fire.

The low-intensity war that has been brewing all over the globe is heating up, both in the battlefield and on the airwaves and data networks that once again encircle the world.

It is now the year 989, and Pacifica is yours once again. In the once-uniform Millennial Kingdom, nations are once again forming their identities, and new subspecies of Humanity grow under the ground and under the ocean, thinking themselves safe from God's omniscient eye.

In eleven years - some say four - the Last Battle will inexorably come. In one year, Humanity will know the fate of its first interstellar probe.

Have you managed to shatter the prophecies, or are you simply fulfilling them?
>>
>>1156242
Question QM elevated as in making Greater Jerusalem the best nation in the world? Because we could improve Egypt and stuff to a +10 prosperity and it'd be WAY above Greater Jerusalem right?
>>
>>1156242

TLDR recap:

> This quest is based on the Left Behind book series, specifically the last book, Kingdom Come.
> The Second Coming happened. TurboJesus rules the Earth from the Temple.
> The Other Light is the official opposition: they are raising a giant army that TurboJesus will effortlessly annihilate on the Last Day.
> You are an AI whose mandate is to ensure that some of Humanity survives the Judgement. Your official job is to handle logistics and manpower.
> You cannot act directly, but you have built an enormous organization. You accomplish goals by directing manpower and special assets (Villains and artifacts) to various tasks. A Villain on a task will allow that task to be roleplayed.
> The world ends in 11 years. Each turn is 1 year, until the endgame officially starts.

>>1156248

"Elevated" is literal: the Millennial Kingdom has no mountains taller than around 100 meters (330ft) because God flattened everything so that Greater Jerusalem would be the tallest place. (This is what the authors of the Left Behind books believe!)

However... if you were to change the narrative on this topic by making enough people disagree with that interpretation AND by making life in your territories reach a post-scarcity state, your theologians calculate that it would break the world order. (It's a bit late to do that now, but yes, that is a possible way to win. Maybe next time I run this quest?)
>>
>>1156260
>bit late

>9 years left
>Egypt at +3

I dunno, It seems still possible.
>>
>>1156260
It would be interesting to win it that way.

Rules for allocating cabals and assets: http://emlia.org/pmwiki/pub/web/LeftBeyond.QuestRules.html

You have 25 cabals total; of these, 3 are maintaining your systems, 1 is space police, and 1 is army liaison, so 20 are available. Your civilian research grant is focused on curing radiation sickness. Your military grant is focused on sea mines. Remember the promise to Tethys!

You are not tracking enemy teams. TOL are trying to reclaim their Mexican base.

You have 6 aerospace parts in storage.

Your Moon colony is experiencing birth defects. Your Mars colony is doing very well.

Variable complexity:

# You've pretty much won the internet! Leverage it.

# Any interesting idea you might want to try.

# Deal with special situations. Deploy sea mines in the Middle East, build fortifications...

# Assign manpower to research.

Complexity 0

# Use a MISC special.

# Use your automated base in Greenland to produce army assets (1/3rd dot) or aerospace equipment.

C 1

# SPECIAL: Send a drone to the Temple by having TOL or believers build it.

# Use army units to attack on a TOL base or a govt installation.

# Send a cabal to the canopy station for astronaut training.

# Foster pagan worship in a territory (Vulcan/Hekate/Satan).

# Harass or sabotage a Hero, or tie up an enemy team.

# Jam radio transmissions in a territory. This forces people to switch from NJ-controlled broadcast media to internet media, or not get news at all.

# Send a survey team anywhere (covert or overt) to look for trouble or to spy.

# Work on Hell nodes.

C 2

# Resume tracking.

# Use any base to produce army assets (1/3rd dot)

# Use any of your bases to improve (relative to rest of the world) prosperity in that territory. You must control the territory.

# Use a base in a territory you don't control to start bringing that territory under your control. Progress will be made in 1/5 increments. SPECIAL: Also applies to fortifying Nova Roma.

# Seed irradiated super-grain in a Christian territory.

# Seed irradiated super-weed in a Christian territory.

# Build aerospace parts.

# Do a space launch using parts you have built.

* Asteroid mining outposts

* Titan colony

* Large ship construction

C 3

# Build and launch Sky Eyes Mk2s in a territory, granting uninterruptible internet there.

# Dig! Start a new tunnel network or expand an existing one.

# Attempt to eliminate a Hero or enemy team (by force or by cleverness).

# Set up a pirate radio in a territory.

# Hack into TOL systems.

# Infiltrate a believing territory for sabotage.

# Convert 3 cabals into 1 infantry army size dot immediately

C 4

# Send crew from the canopy base to an off-world location, and replace the canopy base crew. (1 population dot; 1 cabal lost for Earthside ops)

# Recruit people who wouldn't make the cut as agents into your infantry.

C 5

# Begin building a base somewhere.

# Recruit a new cabal.

C 6

# Use a heavy weapons factory: add 1 dot to army size (navy or heavy).
>>

whats the 1/5 thing in Egypt?
>>
>>1156292
># Do a space launch using parts you have built.
for the Reach 12 Cabals.

># Build aerospace parts.
four Cabals, two parts.

># Deal with special situations. Deploy sea mines in the Middle East, build fortifications...

>Build and rebuild lost and damaged silencer/facehugger drones. 2 Cabals.

>Assist Tethys.
two cabals.
>>
>>1156292
Which one of these is the whole 'build' her a base option? Also did we NEVER get Europea to be on our fucking side? And how much will it cost to retrofit the parts we have already?

AND last, can we double up on increasing the prosperity of a nation?
>>
in Egypt, can we use the Launches to boost prosperity for a year? want to know this before put villain's in.
>>
>>1156283
>>1156270

It certainly would be!

As it is, your cultures (and the subcultures affiliated with you) are overall prosperous.

Misrayim is a conventionally modern country: people enjoy mass-produced goods and food grown in greenhouses, high quality sanitation, modern medicine, some the central desert is carefully preserved so that people may have a harsh environment to test themselves in. Seeing people with artificial arms or ears is nothing uncommon, and they're good. Misrays are humanists in the broader sense.

Pacifica is more of a hippie paradise, with a dash of better living through chemistry: if you want to eat designer synthmeat or star tomatos, or try personalized hallucinogenic mixes, this is where you go. You might see people walk around on the beach with webbed feet, or climb the restored redwood forests with grafted claws and squirrel tails. Pacificans are laid back and creative, a little bipolar, if that.

Nova Roma has taken after the idealized image of the empire, rather than historical reality; a visitor can expect to see beautiful classical architecture, people walking around in togas and sandals, gladiatorial fights (with the field medicine available to make sure most killing blows result in a few months with the medicae instead), and a strong sense of discipline. New Romans see themselves as your empire's protectors.

Night City has been handed over to the Dwarves. They have structured their society around a reasonably healthy mix of fantasy tropes - tourists will find that they have to bend their head a lot, will be welcomed hospitably but never really be a part of the community, and may want to remember that the drinks are brewed with the assumption that the drinker has two livers.

The two underwater settlements are still fledgling - they haven't even agreed on names, and their cultures are developing.

TOL is run top-down, with a brutal quartermastering system, by "Sunday", Steward of The Other Light until Satan returns and takes command personally.

The believing territories are very uniform, with little national identity. A decades-old pastoralization directive has made sure that technology has been slowly dying down; what's the need, when the work is light, the fields bountiful, and the promise of eternal bliss only a few years away?

>>1156300

A typo, sorry.
>>
>>1156333
seeing as we literally burnt it into the landscape, would it be wrong to ask that we have a black burned dick somewhere in Pacifica on the map?
>>
>>1156329

Instead of trying to take over Western Europe, you ended up building Nova Roma as a self-sufficient city-state that encompasses the southern half of the Italian Peninsula.

>>1156331

The launch complex is a great point of pride for the Misray people, but it doesn't directly affect the economy any more than it already has.

>>1156325

Operating the Nova Roma shipyards at maximum efficiency requires six cabals. You can also assign a Villain to supervise the effort; Damien and Zak have relevant experience, with the former having more charisma and the latter mroe technical expertise. Jeb's outer space skills can also help build an underwater habitat.

>>1156329

Your aerospace engineers estimate that retrofitting existing parts from "generic" to "specific to the Centauri System's planets" can be done as part of normal R&D efforts; barring anomalies, it's just a matter of removing useless equipment in favor of copies of useful equipment. Anomalies such as superhigh magnetic fields would require extra work.
>>
>>1156348
then i'll need to reorganize my Cabal layout.
>>
>>1156345

(If you upload it I'll use it)

The territory of Greater Jerusalem is an exception: voluntary tributes over a millennium, and the literal rivers of milk, honey and wine that flow from the Temple's foundation have made this an enchanted land that every believer wishes to visit - in fact, pilgrimages account for more than half the total travel volume for believing territories.

The Temple itself is a gargantuan construction, supernaturally hewn out of bedrock at the beginning of the Millennium and about the size of the former financial district of London. http://www.sonstoglory.com/ThirdTempleEzekielsMillennialTemple.htm#PhotosofEzekielsTemple

It has been decorated and redecorated over a thousand years by delegations at the Feast of Tabernacles, the event at the end of the year in which all territories pay symbolic tribute to the Temple, King Jesus, and Prince David, and by now it has a somewhat garish appearance, the severe lines of Ezekiel's dream having been subsumed and covered by a millennium of earnest efforts to impress.

The Christian minorities in Misrayim and Pacifica follow this tradition; their gifts are often relegated to the end of the table, despite the quality of Misray craft and the creativity of Pacifican ones. You have not yet tried to pull a Great Seal Bug caper.

That's correct.

For example, right now the landable habitats have sufficient magnetic shielding to survive in space. If it turns out that the Centauri system has planets with extreme magnetic fields, they'd add a Faraday cage. If it turns out that the Centauri system has Earthlike planets, they'd rely on the ship's magnetic shieldin and use the saved mass to carry more seeds or soil or equipment.

>>
>>1156491
does having them believe in another religion help them out in fighting against coversion?
>>
>>1156503

Yes. Not much, but it does.

Lately, TOL's simple but endlessly repeated message and your efforts to foster alternative mythologies and confidence in humanity's abilities have made it hard for Christians to get converts. Annoyingly, this too was prophesied: the Last Battle should happen roughly when, for the first time in a thousand years, there will again be more unbelievers than believers on Earth. Your statisticians indicate that we're close. A problem is that nobody knows whether unbelievers who died but are still walking around thanks to a metabolic extension controller count.

The possible dates are +993, +999, and +1000.
>>
>>1156515

http://leftbehind.wikia.com/wiki/If_It's_True

To the thinking members of the global society: Use your brains! You are capable of rational thought. We of TOL acknowledge that everyone who entered this period of history was a believer in God, either surviving the last seven years on earth as they knew it or returning from heaven with Him.

We do not deny that God was the Creator and that Jesus is His Son. We deny that He ever came to earth in the flesh or that He died and was resurrected. We aver that He unfairly treated one of His own creations, and summarily cast him out of His presence, forever besmirching his name and reputation.

Worse, He has left men and women no choice but to believe in Him and serve Him, denying our free will. We have no quarrel with those who follow Him and consider themselves devout. We simply insist on the right to decide for ourselves.

And now we come to the crux of our manifesto: If it’s true that we, as His opponents, are not allowed to live past the age of one hundred, this merely proves our point: He will not abide an alternate point of view. Critics and even some of our most loyal members have suggested that if it’s true, we should have abandoned our ill-fated cause when the first wave of deaths hit.

We, however, insist on our right to rebel, even in the face of all odds. Because of the new world, the population is exploding as never before. Literally billions more souls will be born with every generation, and therein lies our hope. Even if it’s true, our progeny, properly informed and coached, will amass an innumerable force. God’s own prophecies indicate this.

Even if it’s true that we will continue to die out every hundred years, if we remain committed to our cause against the vengeful, bloodthirsty God of the Old Testament, we have hope. If we can equip the eventual mega-army of dissidents to where they can actually emerge victorious in the end, perhaps the new ruler will resurrect us and allow us to reign with him.

The biggest mistake God makes will be to loose our leader for a season at the end of this Millennium, for that shall truly signal the end of His kingdom. Let us not be deterred by intermittent defeats. Watch our ranks grow with every generation, and we will in the end prove that God is anything but gracious and loving and forgiving.

Our hope and wish and instruction to the future torchbearers of TOL is that they continue to add to and refine this manifesto until—by the last generation—it becomes the most motivational and strategic call to arms the world has ever known.

And be encouraged. Even if it’s true that we die out every generation, it stands to reason that our progeny will become more numerous each time. And if that’s true, it should be exponentially encouraging to each new wave that carries on our message.

So, what if it’s true? Add to this document. Refine it. Improve it. Pass it on. And we’ll see you on the victory stand in the end.

TOL
>>
(That's from the LB book, with a few words cut for post length)

Recently, TOL has claimed that they are shifting away from their brutal slave army operation and back to their idealistic beginnings: you hear rumors that their "zombie" MECs are being put to work to make do for the automation that they don't have. They have been accumulating 1920s-to-1940s-era weaponry for a millennium, and seeing how quickly your Legion caught up in terms of military might may be making them reconsider.

Jeb turns 100 next year; you don't know exactly when, but he says that he wants to wait until the interstellar probe reports. It will be an emotional event for the Cosmists, which includes Cordylon and would've included Val, so he wants to experience it with his full brain and soul.

So, what are your orders, unless you have questions?

"Believers" is generally used as shorthand for believers in Yahweh. Believers in other deities are called Pagans both by the Temple and by themselves.

The most popular non-Yahwistic cults are that of maker deities such as Ptah, Ephestus and Vulcan, that of the Triple Goddes (Astarte/Hekate), and that of Satan. Interestingly, The Other Light's official stance is that Satan will be the next ruler of the earth, but should not be deified.

>>1156566

Yes; everyone does by now.

Oh, I forgot (mispaste sorry): Accelerating production of the secondary reflex augment that Ryan Andrews bankrolled will be a complexity-four job. This does not allow people with an active MEC to feel again, but it does make sure they do not lose (or regain) reflexes such as moving a hand away from a flame.

(Y'all tell me!)

The Millennium Force is a volunteer organization of Christian missionaries who use progressive tactics such as rock music, setting up makerspaces, and participating in debates in order to win souls; they have been resurrected from their original incarnation by the otherwise very traditionalist Glorified rabbi Tsion Ben-Judah. They also fancy themselves a covert organization, having performed infiltration on The Other Light to find bases and permit raids. Your agents consider them bumbling fools with unearthly luck.

The Brotherhood of Nod is an interesting paradox: an organization composed entirely of infiltrators from other organizations. It seems that every time someone wants to perform an action without their signature on it, they hoist the scorpion flag and go be crazy for a little bit. Even Christian groups have done this on a few occasion, the most notable being the toppling of a water tower during the first Misray drought.

>>1156671

That is already factored in. Many of Tethys' people are pretty useless on land, and as much as they hate to admit it, some of the initial construction simply has to be done in a dry environment. Andrews has sent some engineers, but is otherwise extremely busy giving reflexes back to revenants all over the world.

You figure that it's better to have the Reach completed earlier than later, and that any adjustment due to the parts you are sending up can be done in situ; the factory modules of the Reach are installed, leaving only the habitation systems to be complete. If you so choose, the majestic interstellar ship can now be used to do low-gravity work on the moons of Mars, improving Martian prosperity, or even in the asteroid belt, allowing homesteaders to begin setting up their own operations there once a minimum of infrastructure is available.

Jeb views building an underwater habitat as a completely new challenge; Cordylon thanks you for getting him out of his funk. The Roman shipyards revamp their submersible production lines to make batyspheres, cupolae, and geothermal siphons; Thethys' own people help by building the foundations and guiding the descent of the modules. Owing to the place of manufacture, it looks like Tethys' settlement will end up sporting a "sunken Atlantis" look, with columns, peripathons, architectural details reminiscent of classic architecture. The settlement is designed to let merpeople swim around while having enough dry space to do things like cook meals and use modern tools; its centerpiece is a vast illuminated cupola in the shape of a concentric underwater beach. This should prove to be a popular tourist destination even before it's complete. Jeb does end up sleeping with Tethys; Cordylon, far from being jealous, encouraged it. It does seem to help the aviator get out of his funk. At your request, the settlement will also feature a small jail/containment area that can optionally be manned by your guards; it's deep enough that anyone managing to escape it would get the bends unless they take their sweet time resurfacing. The work season ends with a brief war game between Jeb's people, Tethys' people, and Weaver's crew; the latter wins, after which the settlement's privacy curtains are lowered for a few days. Obviously, the new settlement has been wired with the same kind of sensor network that Night City has.

Rebuilding your tankette force is pretty trivial; the losses weren't that great, and your Villains take the time to improve on the design slightly for the new units. In a simulated battle, oddly enough, Zak beats Damien.

Kat takes the time after Pacifica's Longest Day to reopen her deli; she hangs her pod upside down from the ceiling and has drone arms do the work. The innovation catches on, and between that and synthetic meat having been perfected enough that even old believers who remember pre-Rapture times have to agree that it's pretty good (Glorifieds still won't be talked into touching the stuff) Pacifica becomes the new food destination of the world. This tickles Romans' and Misrays' pride, and +989 will be remembered as the year of the Restaurant Wars. A few people take it too seriously -- people from two restaurants in Pacifica end up in the hospital over the proper shape of pizza ( https://www.yelp.com/topic/san-francisco-san-rafael-pizza-wars-pizza-extreme-v-pizza-orgasmica ) but by the end of the year it's clear that human diet variety is almost back to where it was before the Rapture.

The formal recognition of your leadership role in Pacifica (Mr. Bissattini sees himself as the Tribunus Plebis of Pacifica, rather than its governor, and makes no mystery about deferring to your algorithms when it comes to most policy decisions) makes it easier to integrate the two economies, to the benefit of both; airships and the occasional jet once more cross the American continent and the Atlantic. This has the side effect of causing some youth unrest in the other two thirds of the North American continent: why stay down on the farm where people next door are building the future, and we see their beautiful skyships cross our skies?

It gets to the point that the Heartland government forbids Misray or Pacifican ships to use their airports, allegedly on safety grounds after high-altitude airships are upgraded with Pacifica-made biological air scrubbers. You

# make a point of ignoring this since none of your aircraft ever need land there anyway.

# retaliate by limiting airport access by believer-built aging jalopies.

# take a page from Nikita Krushev and sollecitously offer poor-country aid to the other American territories, that they may upgrade their air infrastructure.

TOL is mostly quiet: there seems to be some sort of internal purge going on.

Just for fun, some Misray hobbyists build a solar-powered ornithopter drone and send it off to Greater Jerusalem.

# End year.

It was a simulated battle: Zakharov used the limits of the simulation to pull off extremely precise kiting maneuvers. Damien treated it as an actual exercise, and lost. Interestingly, the war game brings to light your reliance on SIGINT over HUMINT, although tactically your ability to understand a battlefield, especially in territories with pseudosatellite monitoring, is unmatched. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millennium_Challenge_2002

Two delegations of aeronautical engineers arrive in Heartland and Columbia to offer assistance in improving air infrastructure.

In Heartland, they meet decrepit (but still very loud) Captain Rayford Steele in Chicago, who essentially tells them to get off his lawn and that aviation is a perfected science anyway. Your engineers return home, leaving behind a handsome synthleaterbound album of space photographs.

In Columbia, the people of Atlanta surprise everybody by gladly accepting the help, although local media calls it tribute due rather than aid received; the place is now equipped to handle your airships and heavy liners. This allows airships to carry more cargo, since they have a place to refuel and do maintenance; your aircrews are instructed to be lenient to pagan or heathen stowaways who want to leave Columbia for one of your territories. To avoid TOL terror attacks and to honor seafaring tradition, they will have to have their clothing burned, be given rags, and work their way through the trip to pay for it.

What else do you need to do?
>>1156895

They have been researched and have been installed in some territories; they just need to be launched. Thanks to automation, two workgroups can build and launch MK3s in sufficient quantity to cover a territory, although if there are other groups in the area, they may get interfered with if they don't have a security detail.

>>1156951

The program is in place: your Mars colony is self-sufficient and Simaris has, when not otherwise occupied, been carrying a trickle of people there.

Your Moon colony is doing less well due to the low gravity causing a lot of pregnancy issues; presumably an asteroid colony would have the same problem. For now, pregnant people are taken back to Cordylon Station to have their babies there. Born Martians look different than humans; they are thinner, with more angular features, and somewhat bigger eyes. They also have a keen sense of direction.

The Selenites are working on a centrifuge.

>>
>>1156997

Your geneticists are sure that it's a consequence of low gravity, and possibly

>>1157005

You'd have to launch them to the canopy all over again. The Mk3 uses all new electronics on the same frame, and the frame is basically an upside down boat with solar panels and an active buoyancy pump - it's really only a fraction of the cost. In addition, the Sky Eyes were never designed to drop, and don't have a parachute. The idea is to launch the new Sky Eyes and keep the old ones up there as backup or to cover dead spots.

>>1157014

A current-design Sky Eye is a semisubmersible boat that floats upside-down on the canopy's inner surface; it is launched by a sounding rocket, hits the canopy, ejects the aerodynamic cowling, and uses a system of bladders and impellers to make itself float, and then solar panels for power (the newer models augment this by a small radiothermal generator). It does not have the ability to get itself back up if it falls.

If you wish, you can design a "canopy hopper" relay drone that has the ability to parachute down, fly to a refurbishing staging area, and be launched again.
>>
>>1157039
would it cost us a Cabal to make this thing, and then have it drop down, and re-launch back up? And then Cost a cabal per-canopy hopper that needs to come down adn go back up? cause I'm trying to steam-line our Eye production so we don't need to keep spending so many fking Cabals on them.
>>
>>1157039

Your geneticists are sure that it's a consequence of low gravity, and possibly the fact that Mars has mountains like the Earth used to. By now everybody in your territories gets DNA tested regularly; adding a speciation warning tag, fortunately, is trivial.

On that note, it is beginning to be the case that couples in which only one member is a Dwarf are requiring IVF to have children.

>>1157045

You can definitely do this. It will be seen whether your method is more or less efficient than the current method. You can also run a physics simulation to find out an approximate answer quickly: this is done at no cost since it's something that a couple of programmers can set up as part of their daily job load.
>>

we'd need to LAUNCH to the space station then, where as my plan has them coming to us in places we already own, Auto-refitted and re-auto launched.
>>
>>1157056

The moon base can be used for production; before, you could use a total of 6 cabals for production, for a total of 4 production items including Greenland. Now you can use a total of 8 cabals for productions, for a total of 5 production items including Greenland. Next year, it will be 10 and 6 because Mars will have sorted things out (the Moon colony is smaller, but it's a lot cheaper to launch things from the Moon than from Mars: see the lunar module for proof).

>>1157063
>>1157088

A sounding rocket has a payload fraction ranging from 5% to 15% depending on the design; making it reusable would still require refueling at a ground facility (although a missile truck would do). Canopy perforation has the disadvantage of requiring vacuum-rated parts, and the advantage that the parts can be sent to the canopy station in bulk rather than using one little rocket each. (IRL, the reason why the space shuttle was discontinued and the Buran was never really used is that it turns out that single-use rocket engines are cheaper: even the SpaceX reusable system only resuses the lowest stage, and even then, it hasn't been shown to work reliably yet)

>>1157077
>>1157102

At this point, intentional genetic engineering and biomods can more than bridge the gap; there are people walking around with gills and squirrel tails, after all. Dwarfs refer to themselves as Homo Sapiens Rotundus in scientific terms, and to non-dwarfs as Men, as per Tolkien (so they may say "a female Man" to mean, say, a Misray tourist girl).

# Formally put a clamp to this. Humanity stands as one. One deep gene pool is safer than several shallow ones: institute a minimum age for bioaugs and ensure that IVF requests are screened for cross-compatibility with standard DNA samples taken from statistically significant segments of the population.

# If speciation happens, it may mean people with no souls that Yahweh can harvest.

>>1157125

(Okay, but consider that about 90% of the mass of a Sky Eye rocket is the fuel to go up once. Let's say that you land it. Then what? It has to be refueled by someone anyway)
>>
>>1157125
>re-auto launched.
A problem that might arise with that method is needing to assign a cabal to launch them again.
It might be 1 cabal needed only which is better than my method though. But my method might still be good if geist allows us to launch multiple sky eye parts to the canopy base in one go.
>>
>>1157133

The amount of production actins you can take is limited by:

* how many cabals you have.
* how many bases you have.

This hasn't been an issue lately, but earlier on when you only had 1 or 2 bases, it was. Of course, owning territories makes it moot... unless it's specialized construction like aerospace or heavy armor.

You currently have built an interplanetary ferry that has been doing Earth-Mars duty in the background, the UNS Imperium Profugus. The HMEC in charge of it, Simaris, has been pretty happy with the job, to the point that he does not really plan to return to Earth any time soon. Simaris has been taking colonists to Mars during your homesteading initiative, and giving a translunar injection kick to packages going to the Moon; as a result, your colonies are largely self-sufficient now.

Upgrading the Imperium Profugus for interstellar operation is possible, but it would save you relatively little over building a new craft - mainly it'd save you a set of engines.

Create the TJ containment facility, in Greenland, with a fuck ton of conventional defences in large rings around it just in case the believers try anything. Also a mobile version to get him there.

Lastly, send as many possible people into space and get as many assets to either our current colonies or going to AC.

Night guys, best of luck and screw god.

An alert is added to the population health database.

Additionally, anybody requesting IVF using public facility will get an additional round of genetic screening: if likely children deviate too far from the human average, they will be refused service on grounds of speciation danger and the attendant possible issues with retroviral diseases.

Predictably, a few Pacificans protest. Surprisingly, Tethys sides with you on this one; her people are born human, receive gills as soon as it's medically safe to do so, and can choose between leaving the settlement or getting a fish-like or dolphin-like tail when they are old enough to make that decision (The fish-like tail has no fish DNA in it; the look is obtained by careful chitineal sculpting).

Your sociologists capitalize on that and point out that genetic modification, or even artificial selection, before the age of consent violates the principle of consent. This calms the waters noticeably.

This year's Feast Of Tabernacles is largely uneventful: most of the thundering is reserved to The Other Light and their corrupting influence on the youth in these last days. To be fair, Sunday has been doing an excellent work in cleaning up TOL's image: the horde mode on metabolic extension controllers has been disabled, he has worked out some sort of deal with Andrews to get MEC reflex injections in bulk, and copies of "If it's true" are once again circulating. In general, he's doing a good job picking up the people who aren't skilled or creative enough to work for you. He's also managed to rebuild the Mexican base, and seems to have started a formal political takeover of Northern Asia and the Horn of Africa, styled more or less like yours; his theme is building a haven for youth to be themselves. Overall, it's a bit hokey, but it resonates surprisingly well with rural youth.

Tsion and Cameron finally present their work: a long multimedia series (the first thing to be distributed on cd-roms in many years) about the abuses and horrors of TOL base life. Sunday responds officially, indicating that it was Monday and Thursday's fault, that he has indeed changed course, and that he hopes to "win the argument" before the Last Battle. >>
>>1157645
seems easier to build a separate ship for us and our memories than adding all that to the Reach.
Geist, can you explain what the difference between the server and arkship is?
>>
>>1157657

A server ship will essentially become your body and allow you to remain functional throughout the whole Final Battle event, and possibly beyond. The Arkship will be sent out with a copy of you, and eventually the colonists will rebuild you, but you have the "teleporter problem" with regards to the continuity of consciousness.

Due to the weight and power requirement that an active copy of you has, it'd need extra reactors and extra engines strapped to the Reach anyway so making a second ship would have a couple of advantages: redundancy (the plan is to install artificial wombs and a copy of the gene banks in the server ship) and better sensor coverage (the Centauri system has three stars, and this would allow you to at least look at two).
>>
>>1157777
>>1157657
Huh a server ship seems useful then. Can we install a program in the other 'copies' of us to defult to us so no rebellion?
>>
>>1157796

Not exactly. However, you can keep the copies synched; putting the server ship in geostationary orbit will allow continuous communication with Cordylon Station and with your nodes on Earth, with only a few hundred milliseconds of lag. However, once you leave for Alpha Centauri, synchronization will only be possible by the use of a highly experimental and intrinsically unreliable quantum entanglement link. It can only be used once; Dr. Zakharov suggests it be used at the moment when the outcome of the Final Battle is known.

(Okay, the above is demented nonsense, but let's go with it for story reasons)
>>
>>1157777
Excellent, how many cabals are needed to do >>1157602
>>1157796
I was thinking of doing such a thing by first rigidly convincing ourselves that any copy AI with our memories is us, then having our system admins program a code that forces us to share RAM memories with other instances and vise versa.

The interplanetary probe report arrives this year - you don't know when, as the probe's exact arrival time depends on a number of factors some of which can only be calculated approximately. Of course, the probe actually reached the Centauri system four years ago. There, it performed a series of flybys, after which it has used its antenna to transmit a burst of information back to Earth.

Now, it should be decelerating, so that it will be able to invert direction and then come back to the Centauri system at orbit-able velocities roughly when the Reach gets there, thus giving the colonists another spacecraft to work with - interstellar engines aren't cheap, and the colonists won't be able to build one for a long time, so having a spare set of engines and sensors will allow them to do in-depth planetary exploration.

>>1157831

Some research effort went into it. The precious few billion photons that have been entangled are being stored into a fiber-optic loop that sits in a vat of liquid helium in the vault of Misrayim where you keep the other artifacts. (You seem to agree on parts of your program, so I will go with these. They use 8 cabals. 12 are unassigned.)

Before the Millennium Force of Misrayim even finish setting up a traditional telethon style charity drive, you have a crowdfunding campaign up, spam Misraym's believers relentlessly until they give a small donation, and announce that the Misrayim government will cover the remaining ninety percent of the cost of the project in return for a controlling interest, then hack into the MF site to signal their agreement. By the time Tsion thunders that this is absolutely surreal and LeVey coos that this is a fitting tribute to the patriarch, work has begun; a veritable army of construction MECs, Dwarven tunneling engines, high-efficiency nuclear pumps, and designer environmental cleanup bacteria from across the ocean lands in the Suez strip. A few Christian volunteers also show up with shovels and cement trucks, and even some people from The Other light do, wanting to buy a Mk10 controller for themselves and friends. Each group are told, after sharing a meal, to

# sit back and watch.

# go do a bit of menial work.

# do the catering or something.

# scram.

The Suez area is swarming with workers, drones, construction blimps, and what have you, to the point that the work camp quickly eclipses Salalah as the territory's largest town: the mayor of the territorial capitol makes it clear that this is in no way shape or form an approval for Misrayim to redraw the border. You assure him that the border is fine where it is, while your workers install turrets and cameras along the canal's new bed.

The plan is simple: use the tunneling machines to dig under the ground, and then collapse the roof to create a new canal in minutes. This gives an excuse for the borers to move around.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, Chaim Rozenweig is in the territory; as part of his investigation, he decides to learn about tunneling techniques.

# Great chance for a fatal accident.

# Give him such a scare that he won't want to be around tunnels until well past Judgement Day.

# He's a botanist, not an engineer: mislead him into thinking that the tunneling systems are a lot slower and noisier than they actually are, so that he leaves thinking that it was just a rumor.

# Your people suspect that he's a cyborg: try to expose him.

You make conspicuous use of Heavy MECs to perform feats of superhuman strength during construction, and invite believers to observe the work; Noah has the Ark pulled close to the future canal by tugs, and looks on. He recognizes Damien. "My, my, the young lady has certainly worked out lately!" The new synthmuscle frames perform almost as well as the hydraulic ones when it comes to heavy lifting, and allow for fine manipulation comparable to that of a human worker; a mix of the two is employed for maximum efficiency. Zak draws the plans for the final part of the job, collapsing the artificial caves with a powerful sonic blast.

The Greenland factory is best kept out of the public eye, so it's assigned to continue its work on aerospace parts; the decades of experience learned there have turned building mostly-automated workshops for the Reach from a research project into a simple matter of engineering.

Damien, with a little help from Kat since the blue-haired MEC is unused to humanoid frames at this point, plays host to visiting dignitaries at the construction site; when they ask why all the work is going towards the two ports at either end, and none on the canal proper, they are told "You will see".

The Christian volunteers and the are put to work in the traditional (circa 1995) manner, digging, building levees, and generally putting a good show of showing competence and perseverance. Cameron Kirk Williams shows up for a short video segment on their labor of love; Kat and Damien make very much sure that anyone looking past Cameron's big smiling face will see Misray workers using properly modern technology to do the same job as the Christians that the reporter has just interrupted, only twice and a half as fast. The version that gets broadcast in believing territories requires a lot of creative editing to "stay on message" and omit Christian gang foremen praising Misray techniques, and the final episode - in which Cameron planned to address the unbelieving "help" that the "person in charge" is getting, only to find that a section of retaining wall has been literally completed under them while the interview occurred - simply

As for the TOL fellows, they earn their MEC "downgrade" by assisting your and the believing crews; some end up working too close to the latter and convert, some return home with hopeful news for their loved ones, and one, who is close to turning 100, actually volunteers for heavy MEC conversion after seeing just how much ass heavies can kick. This is highly unusual, but not unique (an advantage of voluntary conversion is that it's easier to keep the privates intact), and it gets done with little delay, after which the new heavy

# is integrated into a work crew and will stay in Misrayim.

# is allowed to go back to TOL.

Zak takes Dr. Rozenweig on a tour of the underworks; he and Urist set up a demo that shows your tunnel-boring machines to be much slower than they actually are. Rozenweig puts his scientist hat back on and quickly calculates, much impressing your physicist and the dwarf castellan, that the work won't get done in time. They agree, and he offers to assist, however he is also shown that the canal mostly follows the old canal path and so it will be easier to go through softer terrain. In truth, the global earthquake erased the old path entirely, but Chaim is shown that the machines can move fast - as long as there was "previous subsidence". The rigged demo make the work a bit slower, but so it goes.

Offhand, after the demo is over and Chaim is asked to make suggestions on what to plant around the canal, Zak asks him about his excellent health for his age; Chaim replies that swimming, a saving faith in Christ and a wonderfully made set of braces by Millennium Force artisans make all the difference. He takes off his khaki suit (and even shows some ankle) to reveal a full body brace with simple but well designed electromechanical assists for the hip, knee and ankle joints; the metalwork is good enough that Urist has to give it some praise. The change of focus makes Chaim put his preacher hat back on. "Unfortunately, it seems that most of us oldsters prefer to sit on their porch and rock their chairs away until eternal bliss. Alas, I am in a wheelchair most of the time, but the Lord has been merciful this week and I was able to put this contraption back on. I fear, though, that this will be my last mission trip." Chaim notices that Zak is over 100, and says that if he could, he would wish that it were possible for such a competent man to reach salvation; Urist cuts the botanist off by saying that "We will not be taken in", and that's that.

# Still, about that accident... Let's get the guy dead.

# Still, about that accident... let's break the braces.

# Good enough.

During the demo, Urist was able to get Chaim to talk about the Glorious Appearing a little bit, a story that he recorded and

# gives you the executive summary of.

# tells you more or less in full.

Elsewhere, Ely LeVey is reading one of her lectures against Pacifican policy, this time raving against sex ed.

"Imagine! Not only are young hearts and minds not ready for such information, but such blatantly graphic teaching strips children of their God-given innocence. And don't think for a moment that-"

Cordylon's ability to literally cut into every broadcast on Earth is an artifact of her access to the global PA system (in case of a canopy breach event, dinosaur-killer asteroid, or similar) and the fact that you've recently done this trick to replace Tsion and Cameron's truncated last episode with the whole thing. Ironically, a lot of people did not realize that this was an interruption - the believing media wasn't really able to say much about it - and berated Cameron for not staying on message; he'll be off the air a while, with any luck.

As of now, it seems that the otherwise parently heavy MEC has decided to ignore the chain of command. You can only countermand it on Earth: right now all your offworld antennas are in simplex receive mode for a signal that is tagged as having priority even over your orders.

Telemetry from the subprobes show that the three-star system does indeed have three planets within the habitable zone; one is an ice ball - it looks a lot like Millennial Earth from the outside - but spectrometry shows that there's oxygen there. One seems covered in thick, purpleish fungal mats with little signs of complex life. The last one is largely a water world, with the only signs of land life being enormous tentacular algal mats that have grown up on the few islands' beaches. The "fish" picture is confused, immediately drawing speculation about whether it was a fish, or a log or some pumice, or maybe some machine's claw, but the balance of probability is that you've found a place with simple vertebrates. Big ones, too: due to needing a big antenna to talk to the main vessel as it slipped by, the probe was the size of a small car.

Chaim Rozenweig told Urist the story as one would tell it to a child, surmising despite Urist's grizzled appearance that he is young.

(1/3)

It is the day of the Lord's coming. Tsion Ben-Judah has been killed in Jerusalem, and Buck Williams and Rayford Steele are mortally wounded. Nicolae Carpathia is taking heat over the destruction of New Babylon as people who are dependent upon its financial resources are committing suicide over the loss of their fortunes. Mac McCullum goes to look for Rayford when he is called to go to Jerusalem to find Buck, disguised as a Global Community forces officer. It is there that he discovers that it is Buck who died by GC artillery. He is then called into a meeting held by Nicolae Carpathia in an underground bunker set up in Solomon's Stables, where he witnesses Suhail Akbar being dressed down for mentioning about New Babylon's destruction, the brutal slaying of a Global Community officer for his nervousness, and Lucifer briefly departing from Nicolae to remind him that he is nothing more than a shell for him to dwell in. Over in the United States, Enoch Dumas continues his ministry to bring as many no-account street people as he could find to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior before His coming.

Meanwhile in Petra, Abdullah Smith finds Rayford mortally wounded but still alive. He calls Leah Rose for medical help, who then has Razor show up in an ATV to safely transport Rayford back to the compound. Chaim Rosenzweig visits Rayford in the infirmary to give him company when he gets the call that Buck has died. While Mac is en route to Petra, the moon suddenly disappears from the night sky, and then lightning flashes and meteors come falling down upon the Global Community forces, squashing a minority of them but not stopping them from advancing. Mac joins Rayford and Chaim in the infirmary during the ensuing darkness that lasts a few hours when they see "the sign of the Son of Man", a cross made of electrical energy, appear in the sky. The instant that it appears, Rayford is miraculously and completely healed of all his injuries, and Leah and Hannah Palemoon see that all their patients in the infirmary are also miraculously healed. As Chang Wong and Naomi Tiberias discover on their computers, the cross in the sky also made the number of new Jewish converts suddenly jump, fulfilling prophecy that a third of Israel shall be saved.

(1/3)
>>
>>1158488

(2/3)

At this point, Nicolae Carpathia joins with Leon Fortunato to lead the Global Community troops around Petra to storm the city and overtake the believers. As they begin to advance upon the city, the cross disappears from the sky and suddenly immobilizes the troops, causing them to be stuck with their vehicles and weapons and lights inoperable. But seconds after that, a bright thick blinding shadowless light covers the land, and everyone sees that coming out of heaven is Jesus Christ with His army of saints following behind Him. He speaks, "I AM the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End, the Almighty", and as He speaks, the Global Community troops around Petra all die. Nicolae and Leon flee to Bozrah, hoping that the troops stationed there will prevail against Jesus and His army, but the same thing happens there: Jesus speaks, and all the troops and GC resources are destroyed, their corpses becoming food for the birds of the air.

While this happens, Rayford, Mac, and Abdullah chase after Nicolae and Leon in a Hummer, watching the tremendous carnage as the majority of the remaining Unity Army forces are killed at the Valley of Megiddo amidst the words of Jesus and the hailstones that fall at the seventh Bowl Judgment. Nicolae and Leon are traveling to Jerusalem in the Royal Humvee with Viv Ivins when this happens, during which Viv Ivins is killed by one of the massive hailstones. God turns the marshes of blood to ice, which soon melts and becomes a thick mire. As Nicolae and Leon try to flee to Jerusalem, all the people in Petra are given supernatural power to travel from there to Jerusalem by running at 70 miles per hour. When they finally reach Jerusalem, Nicolae attempts to storm the Jewish rebels hiding at the Temple Mount with an army on horseback, but the troops are afflicted with a flesh-dissolving plague that affects both humans and horses. Nicolae tries to curse God, but the moment he tries, a global earthquake occurs that levels all the mountains and elevates Jerusalem.

Nicolae and Leon then gallop off to the Mount of Olives in a final attempt to destroy Jesus and the army of saints, along with the Jewish rebels, but the instant Jesus steps foot on the mountain, it splits into a valley running from east to west, causing the last feeble vestiges of the Global Community forces to fall as the rebels rejoice at Jesus' return; the Global Community is finally no more. Nicolae and Leon are briefly seen fleeing on horseback, but to no avail, as the Archangel Michael captures them.

After Jesus enters Jerusalem through the Golden Gate, He calls all believers unto Himself and greets them all simultaneously, speaking to each of them individually and supernaturally. Following this event, Nicolae and Leon are brought before Jesus for judgment along with Ashtaroth, Baal, and Cankerworm, the three froglike spirits that came from the mouths of Satan, the Antichrist, and the False Prophet. The three spirits fearfully humble themselves before Jesus prior to being destroyed. Leon also bows before Jesus and proclaims to renounce the works of Satan and Antichrist, but is still sentenced to the Lake of Fire due to the atrocities he committed. Nicolae refuses to bow before Jesus, but ends up doing so when Satan is cast out of him, confessing that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and that his own life was a waste. At Jesus' command, Michael throws Nicolae and Leon into a hole in the ground that leads to the Lake of Fire, where they are banished for eternity, their suffering and writhing in the eternal flames is heard briefly before the hole closes. Jesus also deals with Satan, having Michael the archangel bound him up in a chain and then taken into the bottomless pit, where he is to remain until the thousand years are finished.

When this gathering had ended, Rayford and all the single men join Chaim in his house for a delicious meal of freshly-cut lamb from a Jewish butcher who had then reopened shop with a line of animals just waiting to be butchered. All the single women and the married people with children went to Eleazar Tiberias' house for the same. They realize from their Bible studies that the coming of the Lord actually isn't the start of the Millennial Kingdom period, but rather there is a 75-day period between His coming and the start of that Kingdom, derived from Daniel's prophecy of the 1290 Days.

On the day following the Lord's return, all the people of the earth, including believers, are gathered at the new Valley of Jehoshaphat for the "sheep and goats" judgment by Jesus Himself. All the believers who were considered the "sheep" Jesus had granted them to enter into His kingdom for caring for "the least of His brethren", and all the others that were the "goats", that didn't care for "the least of His brethren", were sent away into everlasting punishment. After this, Jesus rewarded the Old Testament saints for their faith, and then rewarded the Tribulation martyrs for their faithful witness. When this was done, Rayford is happily reunited with his wife Irene and his son Raymie, now fully grown, as well as with his friends and family members that went on to be with Jesus ahead of him. Buck (now going by his first name Cameron) and Chloe re-unite with Kenny, Tsion and Chaim are re-united as well as Abdullah and his wife Yasmine. Rayford tells Irene that she is entitled to "one cosmic I-told-you-so" before they are all re-united with the rest of the resurrected members of the Tribulation force.

"Wait" Urist said at that point, finding absolutely nothing funny about Rayford's quip "nobody tried to stop this? That seems unlikely. Everybody was acting stupidly."

Chaim, preacher hat fully on at this point, told the Dwarf that the point of the Tribulation Force wasn't to cancel the apocalypse, but to witness it, and bring the good news to as many people as possible during it.

"Right, but... Carpathia was the leader of the world, right? He didn't do anything other than a cavalry charge? No nukes? No missiles?"

Chaim answers that Carpathia had all nukes destroyed three years before. Urist harrumphs. "And nobody else did anything?"

"Wait... Now that I think of it. Yes, there were several young men, one looking much like yourself." The botanist looks considerably more wizened now, mind lost in the past after spending a healthy few hours having been given an interesting puzzle to solve. "Yes, yes, they were running around with one of those tanks of yours, without a gun on it. The poor fools. Loyal to Carpathia even to the end. I remember seeing them set up derricks from Petra. They made an awful lot of light... at the time we thought they were trying to outshine the Cross, and laughed. Lots of noise, too. I believe - yes, I believe that one of their machines, the tank, was hit by a meteor."

"Did you ever see them again?"

"No, they'd all taken the Mark, likely as not... of course... Wait, yes, I saw one. It was during the Sheep and Goats. Tall fella, chubby, girly face, sort of fru-fru voice. Had a megaphone. Something about hospitality. And then the Earth gobbled them up, and the last thing out of the megaphone was, remember us..."

Chaim hugged himself in the cave, and shivered. "Thank you for the tour, young man, I've seen quite enough. Hospitality, yes, I appreciate yours, and good work, and I don't believe that I have business here. Please, think about the good news. Once more, the time is short."

>>1158268

On the way home, you arrange for Chaim's RV to be hit by a squad of TOL workers carrying rebar; the impact is minor, but Chaim is thrown from the RV's bed where he was resting and suffers a 30-centimeter fall; he tanks the Lord for having been uninjured. The ornate brace ends up under the RV's wheels, and Chaim, taking it as a sign, announces that this was his last mission trip. Nevertheless, the Suez Canal Directive Committee, desperate for anything relevant to do, gives the Misrayim Tabernacles delegation a brand new RV as a gift to Children of the Tribulation.

"Ladies and gentlemen, believers and heathens, this breaking news item has been courtesy of the Legion of Light, protecting Humanity on Earth and beyond. For more about the wonders of the universe, be sure to tune in to channels 18 or 216. The Legion of Light will now allow your regular broadcasts to continue."

The video of the flyby is grainy, and since it's only been a few minutes since you received it, your editors haven't had time to generate much in the way of infographics. Nevertheless, the sheer amount of people tuning into the stream is enough to slow your systems down a little, just out of sheer bandwidth usage.

Ely LeVey hadn't realized that she had been interrupted and kept reading her anti-sex-ed tirade.

"... what I have learned and want you to know is this is being taught in schools across Pacifica, perhaps in _your_ child's school. You see, the Bissattini Administration's Department of Science and the Department of Health and Personhood Services are now distributing sexuality training information to province, local, and territorial policy makers."

When she is asked to comment about the news, she has no idea what the callers are talking about, and ends up berating the believing callers to her show for wanting to talk about "the moon and the stars and all that nonsense".

Your space engineers drink deeply from the bucket of environmental data that traveled 4 light years, and determine that the changes necessary to optimize the Reach's hab modules are relatively small; an immediate launch will require one workgroup to make adjustments in orbit, while delaying launch by one year will allow the modifications to be made with little expense of manpower.

You have to assign a good chunk of your sysadmins to routing calls around Timbuktu to make sure that work can continue unimpeded by the estimated four million calls asking how much will a seat on the Reach cost.

>>
>>1158663

Science fairs are already in place in both territories.

>>1158673

Cost is the same. However, the colonies can now be used for most anything that a base can do, so you have a much more lax "you have enough cabals but not enough bases" limit now. In addition, now that there is some amount of back-and-forth traffic, if you ever need a Selenite or a Martian for a job on Earth, you can count on having them available.

Martians have excellent sense of direction and can adapt quickly to any gravity situation (Earth or space) since they're in the middle. They are also very good jacks of all trades, by necessity of being a small community light-minutes from everything else. Born Martians are still too young to be recruited: these stats are about colonists who have been there for years.

Selenites have adapted to the lunar circadian by managing to beat even a Glorified in the mental stamina department: they can stay awake (and actually alert) for days at a time without stimulants. This makes them excellent sharpshooters, on average. However they are physically weak due to the lower gravity.

Hey guys, that story with Charim or whatever he's called, that made me think. The whole prophesy bit requires there to be an army outside of the temple and for the big J to say the words right? We've been focusing so hard on possibilites of just stopping him past that point that I don't think we've actually taken into account another option here.

What if we just don't have an army outside the temple to bumrush?

Like wouldn't that break the story then if there isn't an army to come rushing the temple itself? It's not like the big J is going to teleport to random crowds and say I am to everyone...
>>
>>1158792
I recall we had an idea of just evacuating instead of trying to stop TJ but that had the unfortunate implication of earth being gone forever.
Also the army not being there might not break the prophecy, TJ will utter IAM and the earth will be bathed in fire, with or without Satan.
>>
>>1158792
it's this line of thinking that made me come up with the plane of having the army come up from under the temple and release all the gas.

no army "Around" the temple.
>>
>>1158792

That's a good question. You don't quite have the technology to wipe out TOL's army in one go like the prophecy says, but you can get it done in an hour or so, assuming all goes well. Unless you crack the canopy and drop a Dresden bombing worth of fuel-air explosives.

(Nukes don't seem to have been much of a thing)
>>
>>1158810

Also, I was hoping we could derail the script as well, by having a place better then NJ. Aka get Egypt to 10 Props. Something we CAN do.

>i'd rather not put Egypt at risk right now, that's our entry into TOL's lines so that we can quickly wipe them out if they try and head into GJ.

it'll take 5 years, Meaning They will be moving into combat by then and would have to focus on GJ or be wiped out.

we would't Tho, Unless Qm has something we're not aware of something urusuping GJ as a better place?
>>
>>1158865
If there's something that can break the NC train, there's no doubt that there's going to be a response. Not that I think its a bad idea to have as many pots on the stove as possible. Elevating ourselves above GJ is a good idea. Others could include eliminating the vast conventional army of TOL, starting in +994 to +998 rather than waiting until the last moment, smashing sainted genitals, and lowering GJ are also ideas. I like starting early in particular, it gives us a lot more control if something goes wrong.
>>
>>1158865

Your theologians have, a long time ago, estimated that were it possible to bring a significant part of the population to such standards of living that even believers would have to admit that heaven pales in comparison, the entire edifice of Yahwist supremacy would crumble.

As of right now, it's a bit of a risky strategy, since it takes significant time. However, the consensus amongst your analysists is that the more irons in the fire, the better.

After the Centauri System announcement, the Timbuktu launch complex gets more visitors than it's been getting since the first heroic canopy breaching attempts, especially since these are the habitats which are going to the Reach. Your engineers aren't done customizing them to what is known of the alien environment just yet, but they hope to be able to do so next year.

On Luna, a specially-assembled fuel module is sent to dock with the Reach directly, the first finished product of local industry to leave the surface.

On Mars, the Imperium Profugus returns home from its usual bi-monthly trip with a series of soil samples and a prototype hab to go to the Reach; the Martians accept a bit of privation in order to share the results of their brand of seat-of-pants engineering with the rest of Humanity. After all, unlike the habs built on Earth, theirs was born in a hostile environment.

Jeb, alas, had a heart attack listening to Cordylon's announcement. He was one of the first people to get the reflex injection, so getting used to not having a sense of touch will be easier for him than for those who came before; nevertheless, as is typical of the newly revenants, he takes a perhaps overly cerebral attitude on the matter and throws himself into managerial duties. Cordylon reports to a psychquisitor that on the HMEC's end, the sex is now considerably better, but doesn't give details.

Ithuriel has little to do: Misrayim and Pacifica both are exploding with patriotic and cultural fervor, one due to the historic announcement, and the other due to the simple fact that the biotech business is booming: Ryan Andrews has promised a final cure for the MEC condition within five years, Tethys' people have finished situating themselves, and Pacifica in general became one big party when the Alpha Centauri report came in. Kat-style molecular gastronomy restaurants have proliferated, growth enzymes have brought the great redwood forests back to where they belonged, and Mr. Bissattini has been an excellent politician; he knows that his job is to give your administration a human face, and doesn't try to be anything more than that. Of note, Pacifican manufacturers strike a deal with Heartlanders to improve wastewater treatments in the few cities that are left.

Jeb's self-confidence is greatly restored by his ability to deal with the lunar fuel module ending up in the wrong orbit; taking a lander and repurposing its landing gear as a claw of sorts, he manages to grab it and take it to rendezvous with the gargantuan interstellar ship. "And I did it dead stick" he comments to a small round of applause back on Cordylon Station "but I better get used to that."

From what we've seen with NC, all that attention we would get would lead to Tyrant just telling us to "fall" and setting more of our cores in a loop. Plus this thing seems to be like a computer with preset functions and no lag. See egypt. Where the biggest example of any change we saw from Tyrant during the rebellion was lighting not hitting people who killed a believer once, but twice. And happening almost a thousand times a second. I can almost be certain the "distraction" would be a wasted effort.

As for prosperity I say bring it up to 9+ if you want, but if we go to ten be prepared for a major happening that year. Like fire raining on the entire territory, or a sudden volcano.
>>
>>1158965

Not particularly. Having two cell phone towers next to your house isn't twice as good as having one. It does make life easier to have redundancies if there's a disaster, but the only disaster up there is the canopy cracking, in which case having more pseudosatellites on the same canopy wouldn't help much.

>>1158953
>>1158972

Ithuriel has relatively little to do when it comes to improving an economy, and instead, he puts himself under one of the people involved in that efforts, and learns as much as he can about consumerism. He finds it mildly distasteful, but can see how it would encourage some types of progress. Having him in a slightly too tight suit and tie in the background for venture capitalist meetings and business negotiations doesn't hurt either, and he appreciates not being attacked by fangirls as much as during his last tour of duty. His adamantine honesty occasionally helps with a deal, and occasionally gets in the way - overall, it just about balances out.

The new system of deploying Sky Eyes is tested, at first to give the drop troopers something to do during training since the technique is similar, and then to let people travel on top of the ice a little. During that, they come across the derelict TOL canopy base once again, and

# drop it on the ground.

# reclaim it, at least as emergency shelter room.

# keep ignoring it.

There has been some buzz about a possible Temple reaction to the Alpha Centauri announcement, but before that, there's the matter of the Suez canal. The Greater Jerusalem liaison is unhappy: after much work constructing the ports at the ends, it seems that no progress has been made with the canal proper. Your site engineers have been blandishing the man, but now he is straight out accusing them of making excuses. The only one who isn't worried is, oddly enough, Noah, who reiterates his invite to Damien (plus one guest) to visit the Ark, either on its next trip or when it's back home.

The current site engineer for the canal project

"Today on Protos, with Greg Burdette. Professor Ken Ham of the Creation Research Society's reaction to the momentous and controversial announcement from Cordylon Station."

"I’m shocked at the countless millions of talents that have been spent over the years in the desperate and fruitless search for extraterrestrial life And now, secular scientists are at it again. What evidence from Alpha Centauri? Were you there? Has anybody been there? All we have are pictures grainier than those of Bigfoot and a five-minute movie that I could replicate in our Institute's pond.

Of course, secularists are desperate to find life in outer space, as they believe that would provide evidence that life can evolve in different locations and given the supposed right conditions! The search for extraterrestrial life is really driven by man’s rebellion against God in a desperate attempt to supposedly prove evolution!

You see, according to the secular, evolutionary worldview there must be other habited worlds out there. Secularists cannot allow earth to be special or unique—that’s a biblical idea. The Bible, in sharp contrast to the secular worldview, teaches that earth was specially created, that it is unique and the focus of God’s attention. The Earth was created for human life. And the sun and moon were created for signs and our seasons—and to declare the glory of God.

Any aliens would also be affected by Adam’s sin, but because they are not Adam’s descendants, they can’t have salvation. God’s Son stepped into history to be Jesus Christ, the “Godman,” to be our relative, and to be the perfect sacrifice for sin. Jesus did not become the “GodKlingon” or the “GodMartian”! To suggest that aliens could respond to the gospel is just totally wrong. An understanding of the gospel makes it clear that salvation through Christ is only for the Adamic race—human beings who are all descendants of Adam.

Many secularists want to discover alien life hoping that aliens can answer the deepest questions of life: “Where did we come from?” and “What is the purpose and meaning of life?” But such people are ignoring the revelation from the infinite God behind the whole universe. The Creator has told us where we came from: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”. And He told us what life’s purpose is: “Fear God and keep His commandments."

The answers to life’s questions will not be found in imaginary aliens but in the revelation of the Creator through the Bible and His Son, Jesus Christ, who came to die on a Cross to redeem mankind from sin and death that our ancestor, Adam, introduced."

"All right, thank you, Professor. For the rebuttal... Cordylon!"

"Wait, there's a rebuttal?"

"Yes Dr. Ham, haven't you ever watched Greg's show? Thank you, Greg. Let me use my time to show you the high resolution time lapse for the interstellar probe flyby as I narrate..."

Above, your workers bring the TOL canopy station back online - which is easy - and up to your safety standards - which it isn't. It's still a pile of scrap, but it will be useful in training more people in one go, especially with the Reach project reaching its climax: basic training will happen in Cordylon Station, where it's safer, and advanced will happen in what is renamed Cendrillon Station. A light funicular is quickly constructed between the two installation.

>>1158993
>>1158996
>>1159001

In all this, Noah still hasn't realized (or has, but is pretending not to have) that Damien is, in fact, a head mounted on an armored box full of organs that occasionally gets stuck into a variety of robots. The HMEC had to basically relearn how to walk in order to do this, and does end up walking with a cane; for this brief demo they've stuck Damien into the smallest synthmuscle frame available, which still has the look of an East German female Olympian circa 1980. "Poor dear, you've put so much work into this, you got lumbago! I know how that is from my former life..."

The two wave at each other and, to the visibly annoyed eye of the priests and Levites who had to be roused to give the patriarch's landing a bit of ceremony, pull the small lever.

When they do, the Earth makes an ancient rumbling sound - the demolition charges are situated pretty deep. An artificial earthquake, the first in many centuries, shakes the entirety of the Suez strip starting from the Mediterranean and ending to the Red Sea; the ports, having been built with this in mind, sustain no damage.

And nothing happens, because of course it doesn't.

Five seconds later, some idiot reaches over the no-go zone with a ten foot pole, pokes a stone, and all of a sudden an enormous snake of sand a hundred meters wide and two hundred kilometers long falls on itself, right at the edge of the retaining walls that had been built, into the artificial cavern. The water soon rushes through, with enough force in its current to create a breeze just from the Coanda effect.

The Levites applaud politely. The workers wipe their brows in relief. Damien asks the technician behind the frame to no stop holding on. Noah smiles broadly. "To the ark, my followers! You shall ride through on the current, and spare labor to our tugs."

"And yourself, patriarch?"

What follows is a high resolution view, from multiple angles, of Noah pushing his Glorified body to its limits, grabbing a jon boat, sliding it down the levee wall, and riding the third-harmonic wave down half the length of the canal. After that, some of the more nautically inclined workers follow.

You are very sure that Weaver caught the wave from the other side, although there is no clear video of the pirate and the patriarch waving at each other in the middle.

The Ark majestically sails through an hour later, with the last of the inrush current.

The highlight of the Feast of Tabernacles this year is the Pacifican delegation delivering unto David and the other patriarchs a van-load of lovingly crafted (or organically grown, in a couple of cases) surfboards.

They are accepted without comment, but a week later, two or three are seen adorning the deck of the Ark replica as Noah begins his evangelism tour of the Middle East and India.

The Other Light's reinforcement of their presence in Russia and Eastern Africa is seen as corresponding to the Gog and Magog prophecy; many Christian exegetists note that the doubts of those who wondered why it repeated itself twice in Scripture are righteously vanquished, for as it was before the Rapture, so it seems that it will be before the Last Battle. Effectively, TOL put the territorial capitols under siege; in Northeast Asia, this fails, but elsewhere the believers there agree to leave peacefully after being told to turn the other cheek from the Temple.

Of note, in Western Russia the believers refuse to let go of the launch complex, and mount a defense around it. There's a standoff rather than a battle, but it's ongoing. The people training at Cendrillon station...

Other than the obligatory Surfer Noah memes and a GIF of the patriarch taking the Ark through the canal only to be briefly waved at by a mermaid who then shows tail and splashes off, the Christians are relatively quiet: Ely LeVey interviews Ken Ham on her program, where he points out that Greg Burdette's "ambush piece" was entirely disrespectful and took hm out of context, but few people outside of her core audience care. Tsion stops short of calling Noah undignified, obviously, but does very much complain when you state that ships going through Suez will have to pay toll regardless of provenience or purpose (although the Ark and attendant tugs got a freebie). Your government provides an answer composed mostly of Ronald Reagan quotes, which shuts the theologian up for now.

Using the railgun to hit the "ice hole" in a way that penetrates without destroying Cendrillon Station would be difficult: the people doing their training there propose instead that a pressurized hydrogen tank be pushed through the canopy, and then allowed to fall on the facility. One floridly be-mustached astronaut trainee refers to this plan as "Jamie wants big boom".

Alas, the drop doesn't happen; the believers collapse the launch ramp themselves before leaving the facility, and do a pretty fair job of it. The place has been the Cosmists' "temple" and the center of their culture for centuries, but they barely shed a tear - now the stars are within reach!

TOL's takeover of "Gog and Magog" continues unabated... http://leftbehind.wikia.com/wiki/Gog_and_Magog

We're coming down to the wire now; ten years to go. A hypothetical visitor to the Solar System looking in the radio spectrum would see points of activity on Earth, the Moon, Mars and Deimos, and a solitary beep-beep-beep further out in the asteroid belt. Under the canopy, the preparations for the Last War continue. The world literally has less than ten years to live... and yet, so much in history took less than that, two world wars, a race to the moon. Much like 1990, +990 has been a year of great hope and optimism; then a wall fell and nations joined together to stop a tyrant, now the stars were touched, however briefly.

Have you managed to shatter the prophecies, or are you simply fulfilling them?

I'm going to either do a sequel to this, or a sendoff of Atlas Shrugged just like this was a sendoff of Left Behind. AS is actually an excellent prequel to a mad max type situation, except with 1930s hot rods and armored trains, instead of 1970s muscle cars and tankers. Design doc is at http://emlia.org/pmwiki/pub/web/IronLegion.IronLegion.html
>>

I can see both of those being quite fun, although I wonder what it would be like playing from the side of one of the "miracle men" in Atlas Shrugged. But run what you will and chances are we will be there.

If you read AS as an Illiad-style epic, in which gods walk the battlefield, AS is pretty enjoyable. (Eddie Willers' Odyssey is something that Rand might have written if she didn't turn into a cult leader, we missed out). The problem is that there's a lot of people who think that AS is non-fiction.

(Outright beating up TurboJesus? Hard, especially since it's LB canons that nukes -always- fizzle. This is a puzzle boss. I hope that I've thought up of enough possible solutions and I look forward to seeing a dice-resistant crazy plan that I had not thought up at all!)

When I said "beating" I meant "not being horribly atomised, killed, dismembered, tortured, burnt, pierced, shot, crushed, electrocuted or otherwise destroyed." as in we manage to contain him.

As to the nature of AS, I would argue it can be taken many ways but I see it as an example of anti-government writing. Showing how even with miracle tech and engineering, humans can't beat their nature.

However it does also show that society is more resilient than anything else. Which is why it would be a fun thing to do a quest in I suppose...

You are not tracking enemy teams. TOL are continuing their own takeovers. You have 2 aerospace parts in storage.

Your Moon colony is experiencing birth defects. Your Mars colony is doing well. They both count as bases now.

Variable complexity:

# Media blitz to leverage any recent success.

# Any interesting idea you might want to try.

# Deal with special situations. For example, assist in rebuilding the Suez Canal.

# Assign manpower to research.

Complexity 0

# Use a MISC special.

# Use your automated base in Greenland to produce army assets (1/3rd dot) or aerospace equipment.

C 1

# SPECIAL Refit a Hab module on the Reach (Max 4)

# SPECIAL Send a drone to the Temple by having TOL or believers build it.

# Seed irradiated super-grain in a Christian territory.

# Seed irradiated super-weed in a Christian territory.

# Build aerospace parts.

# Use an aerospace part to deploy Sky Eyes in three territories.

# Do a space launch using parts you have built.

* Asteroid mining outposts

* Titan colony

* Large ship construction

C 3

# Recruit people into your infantry.

C 5

# Begin a new base.

# Recruit.

C 6

# Heavy weapons factory: add 1 dot to army size (navy or heavy).

(Thanks, I forgot that in there)

4 parts can be retrofitted. 1 already has been. This is optional, although it will make life easier for Centaurian colonists.

The "pizza war" in Pacifica has calmed down, although after the announcement that there's life on Alpha Centauri Bd (There's a petition to name the planet various things, including Chiron), it turned a little silly. A couple of months later, it turned out that the centauroid body was mostly an animatronic... mostly.
>>
>>1159747
How many areospace parts are we sitting around with, and how many until the reach is 100% and ready to go?

The pizza war is fucking priceless.
>>
>>1159737
Have 4 cabals refitting the Reach's habitation modules.

Have 4 cabals, the moon and the auto factory produce aerospace parts, 4 of them.

Have the KSV built and set off using those parts plus the two we have in storage. 8 cabals.

Launch 6 sky eyes. 2 parts and 4 cabals.

This consumes all cabals and all parts but readies the reach, gets us near total if not total sky eye coverage and the Kinetic kill Vehicle under way.
>>
>>1159752
>How many areospace parts are we sitting around with, and how many until the reach is 100% and ready to go?
Reach is ready, but retrofitting the parts will make the travel and settlement of AC easier.
We are sitting on 2 aerospace parts if the dots are what i think they are.

I could be wrong though.
>>
>>1159745
Change this to
>SPECIAL Refit a Hab module on the Reach (Max 4)
2 cabals, Luna and mars.
>>
>>1159752

The Reach can launch at the end of the year, if you are willing to either send out inexperienced (but vetted and trained) people, or partially empty your Luna and Mars colonies. Otherwise, you will have to wait another year.

>>1159759
>>1159761

The Reach is currently empty of passengers/colonists, but has been completed (I removed the parts counter from completed projects).

After your effort to complete the Reach, you have two stacks of space-rated parts in storage.

>>1159752

While in Pacifica to improve the territory's economy, Ithuriel was tricked into doing a pizza delivery from Oakland to Sausalito. He claims that he was aware of the ruse and did it to keep the whole thing lighthearted. Your psychologists aren't so sure, but Ithuriel flat out trying to commit a white lie is good news nevertheless.

It gets us more or less everything done and sends off the KKV, which we are better off sending now than in the future...even if it only reaches 0.4 to 0.6 of C. It will at the very least be a big hit on the temple even if we don't assemble our forces outside it, like some anons have planned to avoid doing in order to break the prophecy.
>>
>>1159737

# Use a MISC special. Mars/luna retrofit the 2 Parts.

# Use a MISC special. Get people from Earth and the colonies on board.

# SPECIAL Refit a Hab module on the Reach (Max 4) 2 Retro fit parts, 2 Cabal Jeb.

# Use any of your bases to improve (relative to rest of the world) prosperity in that territory. You must control the territory. 4 Cabal Egypt and West America. Ithuriel, Kat and Damien

# Send crew from the canopy base to an off-world location, and replace the canopy base crew. (1 population dot; 1 cabal lost for Earthside ops) 8 Cabal to the Reach, make them experienced.

# Build aerospace parts. 2 Cabal

# Use an aerospace part to deploy Sky Eyes in three territories. 2 Cabal, Mexico, Central America, East America

# Resume tracking. 2 Cabal, TOL army movment. Zak

If you were to launch a kinetic strike vehicle this year, assuming that the Last Battle is in +1000, it would have 2 years to accelerate away from Earth, 2 years to decelerate, and 4 years to accelerate towards Earth. This would result in an impact speed of approximately 0.2c.

>>1159808

You are the principal, if not sole, provider of wireless internet on Earth. The more bandwidth you have, the more likely it is that people will use the internet instead of government controlled media or TOL pirate radios and TV stations. In addition, the more bandwidth you have, the easier it is to vector drones to assist agents on a field job.

>>
>>1159875

>>
Okay, so the revised plan therefore is;

Have 4 cabals refitting the Reach's habitation modules.

Have 4 cabals, the moon and the auto factory produce aerospace parts, 4 of them.

Have the server ship built using those parts plus the two we have in storage. 12 cabals.
>>
Rolled 16, 66 = 82 (2d100)

>>1159775
>>1159765
>>1159755

(You seem to agree on formally completing the Reach, so let me do the writeup on this first.)

Given the nature of the project, Jeb pulls rank, for once, and assigns himself to it. He's not adjusting to being a revenant too well, and complains that it's like always being in a spacesuit - he keeps wanting to take his helmet off even when he's not wearing one. There have been a handful of incidents of people ripping their own neck off in the past, usually MECs who were trained as pilots or scuba divers, but a proper support network has historically taken care of this; Jeb has Cordylon, who's been through worse earlier in life and is helping him cope.

The modifications to the habs aren't particularly extensive - a few parts that would be redundant are removed or only kept for emergencies, and the extra room is used to carry more of useful equipment. Since there is readily accessible water on all three possible planets, for example, wind-traps are removed and replaced with H2/O2 generators.

Of course, now that the big ship is ready, everyone is assuming that it will leave as soon as possible; you haven't made a decision there yet, but it's not stopping pretty much a third of your forces from putting in an application.

Cordylon: "I have been this station for years now, it's more part of me than my original body by now. Actually, I wonder - if I went to Hell - would the station follow me? If it does... it's pretty much the beginning of the end for Hell. But I would go with Jeb. He needs me more than Valentina might."

Jeb: "I flew for you. I cheated death a few times for you. Shit, I kamikazed Death for you, and I'm still here! But we both know that my place is on that ship. There are yet more horizons to see!"

Ithuriel: "I was made in Heaven, but I was reborn on Earth. Fight to the end, and if it lands me in Hell - fight past it!"

Zakharov: "No point lying to you, Omega. Our future is in the stars, and I intend to help shape it. I'd like a seat, please."

Kat:

Damien: "It depends. I'm the best drone operator we have. If you're not going, I should. If you're going, you won't have to run a country for a long time, so there's less point in bringing me and I would be needed for the final battle."

Weaver: "I'm pretty much the baddest thing in the seven seas... nowhere to go but up, I reckon. But, I don't work for you anymore, so I'll ask for a seat and expect a polite no."

Andrews: "As you asked, I've sat down with a master, and learned a technical trade. I now rate as a registered nurse. I'll tell you later who my "plus one" is."

Urist: "We'll explore the cosmos - by our own effort or none. We stay, and we fight, if it comes to that. Only.... should we fail - you have our gene bank. Please bring us back."

A few believers, all young, ask if they would be able to come. The official stance is that the Judgement will reach the people on the Reach, but some kids think that it'd be a beautiful adventure regardless.
>>
>>1159891
No believers.

And of course we're bringing the dwarves back, they are fucking awesome.
>>
>>1159891
All the heroes will have a seat reserved and in the case of the Heavy MECs, might even end up installed in a cargo ship design for the length of the journey simply for efficiency.

Except Urist, send him our entire space designs booklet / technical documentation and a (obsolete) part that was removed from the Reach, with a single message;

"If we ever meet again in the stars, let this be a sign of our union so that we might know each other no matter our forms."

As to the believers, explain that we aren't willing but if they can get their own ship together...they will find themselves welcome for the journey or at least as far as we get.

Also, send a message to the underground railroad and the tree of life. Tell them we need to see their leaders, urgently, about our plan B and if they want to reserve a seat.

(Y'all tell me on cabal assignment)

You have a unique opportunity: assuming the worst case scenario, nobody wins and the solar system is made unfit for life - the whole of humanity would be the few hundred people on the interstellar ship.

# Specifically forbid carrying Scripture on the Reach. This will extinct the Christian memeplex, but may make it harder to fight a Yahweh-like entity in the future.

# Carry a heavily encrypted copy of the various Bible translations. Eventually, someone will hack the archive - that always happens - but it should take centuries and by then it should've been resolved one way or the other.

The believers who asked for a ride take it as a challenge, shake hands with a few of your space engineers, go home full of vim and vigor... and are thoroughly chastised by Tsion Ben-Judah, who goes as far as questioning their salvation. That's all you hear of that, at least for the year.

>>1159907
>>1159917

A few Tree Of Life people already had made a deal with you a few years ago as part of the Pacifica reconquest effort; rather than reserving seats, they wanted to participate in the vetting process, which you have allowed at the time. Since they have some of the world's best biologists and doctors, a few of them breezed through the screening anyway - those skills will be essential in setting up a colony.

The Underground Railroad leaders aren't particularly interested, surprsingly; they think that humanity will endure on Earth. "And if not, we already know that our descendants will build an inclusive society as long as everyone in it pulls their own weight. We're hoping to formally disband our organization in +1001!"

Cordylon hands over the base to another HMEC, Ordis, who is a fellow Cosmist but believes that the Solar System should be properly civilized. He's almost as good as Cordylon at operating/bing the base, and will learn quickly (Incidentally, it seems that most HMECs identify as males, statistically, by about 2:1).

>>1159922

It's really a matter of losing a tactical asset now in return for giving your colonists a better chance for the future due to having a proven skilled and loyal individual on the away team.

>>1159936

There are 9 dots to fill (the first dot is your guaranteed-seat people, Andrews, the people he vetted, and the people that Lifetree vetted). You can

# partially empty the extraplanetary bases and refill them using the planetary ferry later

# send up people who have been vetted and trained but have no experience

# wait two years to get all colonists a rotation in space

# wait one year to get some colonists a rotation in space

# wait one year and slightly empty your extraplanetary bases
>>
>>1159924
They can command from out in the asteroid belt, given that our communications network works at the speed of light and that most of them if not all all don't get involved in combat directly.

Also in the case of those that do, one is a master pilot and the other is a desolator. Both of these are not useful for our plans.

I will however relinquish Ithuriel, given his nature as a willing combatant with no intent to run.

>>1159930
I thought we were sending it now? Okay then...

>>1159936
Oh shit yeah that too, since it costs 4 cabals per pop and we need 9 pop, we will need 36 cabals of labour.

If we do this in a reasonable time scale of 3 turns, then we can also produce another few crafts to go with it carrying population or shit.

However we could delay even further and get even more. Assuming we can prove god can't hit them or that they can resist his assault.

>>
>>1159983
Because we have OTHER important things to spend our cabals on. We can spam shit AFTER we win.
>>
>>1159990
True but what if we don't?

Still I agree, once we have all the prep for our final battle done, we assign every other asset to space shit; making ships, getting colonists and sending them off.
>>
>>1159965

A copy of the Reach would require 20 parts. A minimum-sized independent colony ship, carrying only about fifty people and livestock, would require 15. Fortunately, many of the engineering problems have already been resolved, which would allow you to work quickly - however, you only have one launch ramp and station, which means there is a maximum of 12 launches a year.

>>1159968
>>1159961
>>1159959

You figure that the colonists currently outside of Earth have put down roots, and you don't want to make it look like that the Reach is actually Plan A, so there will be no colony relocations - no reason to start a panic. Therefore, the current group of colonists will take two years to train on Earth, the canopy, and low orbit.

Since the work is planned two years in advance and since the entire point is to make sure that the new colonists are able to handle themselves, your people will not be tightly involved in this operation: one workgroup to manage the training and one to assist you in managing the orbital logistics will be sufficient. The downside is that you will not be able to alter this arrangement without losing its benefits.

# Confirm a +993 launch? It will cost two cabals to set this up. A rushed launch will cost more.

Your decision to bring along a copy of the Bible is leaked, and a very ornate copy thereof is delivered anonymously to Timbuktu. Quite a lot of people assume that it's from Noah. Cameron Williams wants to make a video about it being scanned for upload onto the Reach's datalinks (even though the actual copy got encrypted and sent up in a few minutes with routine traffic)

# and is told to take a hike.

# and is told to do it himself, and send the JPEGs over to Timbuktu if he absolutely has to.

# and is allowed to do it, lest he use his time doing something actually damaging.

>>1159983

Setting up an assembly line has its advantages - parts will cost significantly less. However, there will be an initial investment necessary, and some of your production capacity will be tied up in this.

Could we set up a assembly line in the asteroid belt? It could be manned by a HMEC to supervise and expand the facility with sent parts, right? How much would it cost to set up? The same as a auto-factory or less since it is less versatile?
>>
>>1160000
We should just reassign it to "figuring out how to capture and contain a semi-literal god".
>>

>>
>>1160017
True but that isn't really a military thing, unless you mean as a containment measure...
>>
>>1160012
The forge ship is a mobile, auto-factory. What we are talking about is non-mobile semi-flexible (makes ships, ship parts, etc) production facility.
>>
>>1160019
It is kinda a military thing since it's researching methods to take down NC beings like angels.

>>
>>1160037
To mass produce colony ships, cargo-ships and anything we can in a last ditch "we can't raise the odds of beating TJ, lets improve the colonies odds of success" operation.

Specifically my plan is that by having our server ship on the other end managing the colony, we can have the ships fly into the system and if the colony can handle the sudden burst of population we can awaken them from cryo storage or whatever other method we decide on using...or something along those lines.

Setting up an automated factory (since it is many light-minutes away from you, it would still have a few HMEC workers on it rather than being fully autonomous) would require between 8 and 10 parts, depending on conditions. Valentina's last flight did find that the asteroid Cybele has water ice and dry ice on it, as well as metallic nodules.

>>1160005
>>1160004

The Glorified reporter puts together a happy little fluff piece in which he's handed some interns, who he spends half his time trying ineffectually to preach to, watches them build a book scanner from whatever was in the shop at the time, gets the Bible scanned, and actually finds something positive to say about the space program for once. Tsion dislikes the programme and the two end up having a genuine argument off-air, which you make sure to leak, until Cameron points out that Noah liked the piece.

>>1160000

Go quads.
>>
>>1160047
How much more efficient would it be than our current production? What is the functional difference between the 8 and 10 part version?
>>
>>1160046

An exodus program can be set up; your army is large enough that your people can feel assured of your readiness to fight for them.

However, visibly focusing all resources on space would start a panic - if you do this, your military analysts suggest that at the very least, you take the Legion to Cairo and start building up an invasion force.

The overhead for this is minimal, as the Legion is designed to be mostly self-sufficient and it's not like foraging is a problem in the Millennial Kingdom: your existing army liaison cabal can handle it.
>>
>>1160054

Your exploration of the asteroid belt was incomplete: you don't know exactly what kit to bring to the asteroid belt to set up a factory there.

Bringing more kit would allow for setting up a proper colony, that is, a series of small colonies on "close" asteroids. Small FFR engines would keep travel times low and allow private prospectors to do most of the exploration work for you, not to mention that you would initiate a literal space gold rush - a classic sci-fi dream for many.

The main use of an automated space factory is that it would produce parts without intervention from you, and not be subject to launch limitations.
>>
>>1160055
So what you are saying is that in order to have a focus on space projects without scaring the people we just need to place our army outside of Jerusalem and wait?

Aye that seems like a good trade for the colony being more successful...not that I am abandoning earth. I still want to have two or more facilities for containing TJ, along with some sort of mobile version so we can move him when needed...
>>
>>1160062

That's correct. Thanks mostly to TOL propaganda (for which, your military liaisons note, they keep interspersing pictures of their forces with videos of yours) the unbelieving population is pretty sure that you'll win. After all, they have seen what happened in Misrayim and Pacifica over and over.

Any mass panic episodes you may face will be isolated.
>>
>>1160046
>To mass produce colony ships, cargo-ships and anything we can in a last ditch "we can't raise the odds of beating TJ, lets improve the colonies odds of success" operation.
But the Forge ship can do all that and has the added bonus of being mobile.
>>
>>1160062
Is it really worth building another factory, though? We only have a couple years left, and I'm not sure if the factory could pay for itself by the final battle.
>>
>>1160076
Fine I shall relent, we can instead merely produce a forge ship, assuming OP agrees with the idea they are functionally the same.

So OP, your word is gold here?
>>
>>1160047
>Go quads.
Oh shit.
>>
>>1160084

A static factory on Ceres or Cybele can be carried there by the planetary ferry, and do its job, and be cheaper than a forge ship.

A forge ship can get there by itself, do its job, and possibly do work near Mars if necessary, or be stripped of crew and be sent to Alpha Centauri autonomously.

In this case, you must decide between flexibility and cost/time.
>>
>>1160080
Nothing could pay for itself but there are three possibilities;

1) The earth is destroyed but the rest remains, thus it continues working.

2) The solar system is destroyed but the rest remains, thus it stops working.

3) TJ is defeated, thus it keeps working.

There is a fourth possibility, that TJ destroys the universe but that is unlikely.

However I have changed my mind to allign with another anons idea of just making a forge ship. So this is pointless.

The launch ramp in Misrayim continues working at capacity this year; while the Reach is completed, a smaller version of it, incorporating design elements from the interstellar probe, is built in a geostationary orbit straight above Cordylon Station.

Your scientists refer back to the original Avatar Project designs, to work out how to concentrate your processing power in one location - the new ship. In order to be able to be as fast as the Reach, the new ship will be smaller, with no habs and only minor self-repair capabilities. Since you are not a true AI, your proprioceptive loop is estimated to enter an apathy state in a few years without human intervention - to prevent this from happening, your systems will be slowed down during the interstellar trip, and paired with

# neural tissue that has been vat-grown for this purpose.

# a small number of heavy MECs.

# Maria, the woman you have kept dreaming for almost 10 years now.

# a simple reset watchdog.

The launch and assembly isn't quite routine, no orbital endeavor of this magnitude ever is, but it is complete within the year with relatively few setbacks.

Within the computer cores are fiber optic loops carrying several priceless trillions of entangled photons that should be able, if the physics team have done their job properly, to transfer your proprioceptive loop memory state from the server farms in Misrayim to the server ship instantaneously. You will be able to do this only once.

Shortly before the Feast of Tabernacles, the job is complete. As for the rest of your software, you decide to

# Upload yourself immediately. This will take a few days of downtime, during which you will have to leave someone in charge - Zak, Cordylon, Mr. Bissattini and Kat volunteer. You can also leave a committee of your political scientists and economists in charge. Requests from a "Mr. Kornada" to take over management for a few days in your absence are pointedly ignored.

# Upload yourself over the next two years. This will result in no disruption.

# Not upload anything just yet. This will allow using the server ship as a second interplanetary ferry.

Kat's answer to whether she wants to stay and fight or leave for Alpha Centauri is ambiguous: After being first refused auth to fight Phanuel, and then only being allowed to goop him, she's be a bit dubious about whether or not you think she's actually useful fighting anything above the human level. So a fair amount of "where will i be most useful" self-questioning happens. She does offer to help steer an interstellar ship.
>>
>>1163721
>a simple reset watchdog.

I don't want to risk becoming too independent from our programming, which I would fear would happen with neural tissue or the unpredictability of Maria. Getting independence from our strict programming would interfere with our strict programming, so it is to be avoided seeing as we're following our strict programming

Yes; the unnamed Angel is still out. Its brain is still slowly rebuilding itself. You were unable to keep its weapon, and there's a chance that you may be able to use it. Once its brain has finished regenerating, you decide to

# handle this like you did Ithuriel, by assigning a loving parent figure or two to raise it from infancy.

# accelerate its development as much as you dare, to obtain a dedicated fighting machine. Child-soldier indoctrination methods are detailed in your datalinks.

# not bother trying to wake it up, since there are only a few years left, and use it as a stem cell factory instead.

Uploading will happen by slow sync over time; this will also allow the canopy base to install better communications equipment to handle the load of most of your strategic and tactical decisions coming from geostationary orbit. Unfortunately, due to the relative radio opacity of the ice canopy, you will still require Sky Eye relays for fast communication; fortunately, long wavelength, low bandwidth signals will be able to pass through. Given that the Timbuktu launch ramp, canopy station, and geostationary orbit for the server ship are very close to the intersection of the equator and the Greenwich meridian, you will be able to directly control drones by waypoint over anywhere but the Pacific Ocean.

(Again, sorry for the disruption. For what it's worth, I ate.)

In the meantime, preparations to launch the Reach begin: she will leave in +993. Of course, you likewise have the option to "ditch" on the server ship alongside.

(Y'all tlel me about how to handle the loop issue)

Your theologians have poured over as many ancient tomes as they could, but could not determine who your captured Angel might be; as it is, it seems to be about Ithuriel's size, with slightly less muscle.

Over the years, your agents monitor TOL's takeover attempt in Russia and Ethiopia, and estimate that it will be completed sometime next year. Believers are being rounded up and kicked out of the place; you have no land border, but your army and navy make a point of reinforcing Misrayim's borders and the Red Sea. You deal with Christian refugees by

# not dealing with them; there are other territories they can go to.

# offering aid packages to Central Africa and the southern Caucasus region. Make it a show of opulence, even.

# welcoming them into Misrayim, just to make the point that your hospitality is greater than the believers'.

Unbidden, large airships from Misrayim cross the border and hover above the warehouses and churches that have been converted into refugee centers. The believers take good care of their own: these structures are temporary and families generally find it easy to be paired with hosts. The part of the world controlled by believers has such a uniform culture that there really isn't much of a feeling of otherness for those relocating.

Nevertheless, your airships gently drop aeroponically grown food, basic tools, changes of clothes, and modular furniture, as well as personal electronics. The overall effect is mixed: on one hand, some see it as a futile attempt on your part to influence the believers, on the other, some see it as a genuine gesture of kindness. On the gripping hand, of course, you manage to get some form of network access to the believing families' youth in the form of free basic tablets and laptops.

(time paradox? Also, what will you do with the Angel and with the server?)

Thanks to the mild climate, the Russian campaign is probably the easiest in history: Sunday arranges for an interview on his own media during which he notes that the whole "Gog and Magog" thing is a coincidence, the territories will not be renamed with those words, and it simply makes sense to use those territories as a staging area.

"We have wanted to show the Temple our strength, and we have done so by taking over these lands with a minimum of blood shed, by the spontaneous uprising of the young people who the Temple has oppressed for so long: our army is only here to maintain order. We offer the Temple a peaceful resolution: there need not be no war or chaos. All we ask of the Nazarene is that he just walk away. You have seen the flames of war rekindled, and you have seen our strength. There has been too much violence, too much pain. None here are without sin, but I have an honorable compromise. Just walk away. Leave the Temple, the whole compound, and we will spare your lives. Just walk away. I will give you safe passage. Just walk away and there will be an end to the horror. I await your answer. You have a few years to decide."

The reply is immediate: a Millennium Force team swoops in on a helicopter and wires the TOL transmitter to transmit the unofficial official answer on a loop. Cameron Kirk Williams rather interviews those who took part in the daring raid; they dedicate it to the memory of those lost in Pacifica. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSJJIi74Ld8
>>
>>1163747

This year's Feast of Tabernacles is all about Noah's mission trip to India, and a remarkably tongue in cheek thank-you to Sunday for allowing the good people of the territories surrounding Gog and Magog an opportunity to show Christian charity. Unsurprisingly, your own efforts do not rate a mention.

Even with that, cargo ships have begun carrying soldiers and materiel to the territories occupied by Sunday.

Ely LeVey has shifted gears, and is actively trying to help the Millennium Force recruit youth in Pacifica, even if they have augs.

Tsion Ben-Judah has remained in Central Africa, and actually made himself useful by taking over, in his usual brusque manner, the relocation efforts and doing a good job with it. At least he's leaving you alone!

Sunday lets it be known that he may plan a show force the likes of which has never been considered; Weaver reports tells you that he's been trying to hire her to take out the Ark. "I'm thinking about it, but honestly it doesn't look much like a challenge. You got anything better for me to do?"

# End year, and postpone the server integration and Angel decisions.

# Wait.

>>
>>1163770

In terms of raw manpower, yes. However, the Legion of Light has demonstrated that it can take on a larger conventional force and win. An all-out war would sap both your resources, but is winnable.
>>
>>1163774
Danke. So question because I'm drugged on pain killer and aome other doctor proscribed shit. Is GJ a 9 on the prosperity chart or a 10? Also we have believers still in Egypt? And finally, is the person in west america heavily guarded?
>>
>>1163781

Greater Jerusalem is a special case; that said, prosperity is indicated on a relative scale. There's literal rivers of wine there, the place is bathed in the light from the Temple, and every sort of fruit or veggie tastes better simply by dint of being from there. That said, well, a good chunk of your people prefer synthmeat, aeroponically grown garlic and red peppers, and broadband.

Misrayim still has a Christian population, about 15% of total; the charter of rights guarantees their freedom of religion same as everyone else.

The Millennium Force agents have been remitted to government custody after being mined for information, and short of another Angel showing up to free them, they are under sufficient guard. However, keep an eye on enemy teams in the territory!

Rules for allocating cabals and assets: http://emlia.org/pmwiki/pub/web/LeftBeyond.QuestRules.html

You have 25 cabals total; of these, 3 are maintaining your systems, 1 is space police, and 1 is army liaison, so 20 are available. Your civilian research grant is focused on curing radiation sickness. Your military grant is focused on supernatural containment systems.

You are not tracking enemy teams. TOL are wrapping up their conquest of Gog and Magog.

Your Moon colony wants to set up an orbital station to deal with birth defects. Your Mars colony is doing well.

Variable complexity:

# Media blitz to leverage any recent success.

# Any interesting idea you might want to try.

# Deal with special situations.

# Assign manpower to research.

Complexity 0

# Allow the moon colony to sort itself out (makes it unavailable).

# Use a MISC special.

# Use your automated base in Greenland to produce army assets (1/3rd dot) or aerospace equipment.

C 1

# SPECIAL Send a drone to the Temple by having TOL or believers build it.

# Seed irradiated super-grain in a Christian territory.

# Seed irradiated super-weed in a Christian territory.

# Build aerospace parts.

# Use an aerospace part to deploy Sky Eyes in three territories.

# Do a space launch using parts you have built.

* Asteroid mining outposts

* Titan colony

* Large ship construction

C 3

# Recruit people into your infantry.

C 5

# Begin a new base.

# Recruit.

C 6

# Heavy weapons factory: add 1 dot to army size (navy or heavy).
>>
>>1163797
How much for the orbital station in terms of parts and shit?
>>
>>1163797
What does the "Let the moon sort it self out" option do besides us losing it?

Have all auto-factories / colonies produce aerospace parts.

Have all 20 cabals move population to the Reach. This will finish filling the Reach this turn and will secure our "victory".
>>
>>1163803

The people at your lunar colony indicate that they can handle sending a hab module and some solar panels in a low orbit. The intention is to, paradoxically, give people a higher gravity environment: after doing the math, it turns out that it would be easier to do so in orbit than building a centrifuge on the surface. You will not have to provide resources unless you want to, although it would make the lunar base unavailable for other work.
>>
>>1163806

You can also tell the Selenites to wait, of course, if you want them to do other work.

Are you planning to launch both the Reach and the server ship?

Who will go on the Reach?

Jeb, Kat, Zak want to go with the Reach. Ithuriel and Damien want to stay and fight regardless of odds. All of them are sufficiently loyal that they will accept your override.
>>
>>1163811
>>1163797

Jeb, Zak, Cyclron, and Andrews will go on the Ark ship.

>Colonies and Automatic base will produce the shit the Moon needs.

# Do a space launch using parts you have built. Launch the part up to the moon so they can build it. 2 Cabal

# Use any of your bases to improve (relative to rest of the world) prosperity in that territory. You must control the territory. 2 Cabal Egypt

16 free Cabal

>>1163811
I thought we had people already going through training or do we NEED to spend more cabal on getting people up there?
>>
>>1163814
>>1163806

You decided to populate the Reach slowly a couple of years ago, so you do not need to handle the manpower cost for it.
>>
Right now it might be possible to grab Ben from central Africa and blame it on TOL. A mix of stun, nutpunch, and a test of our containment system. If he doesn't die he doesn't respawn. Heck we could send him to Pluto.

So I vote three cabals on a capture.
>>
>>1163797
Actually changing this >>1163823 too

Jeb, Zak, Cyclron, and Andrews will go on the Ark ship.

>Colonies and Automatic base will produce the shit the Moon needs. Jeb

# Do a space launch using parts you have built. Launch the part up to the moon so they can build it. 2 Cabal

# Use any of your bases to improve (relative to rest of the world) prosperity in that territory. You must control the territory. 4 Cabal Egypt and West America, Ithuriel and Kat

# Resume tracking. 6 Cabals, Zak And Damien, TOL Army units in the 2 places they are siezeing and Our own Capital/Egypt.

# Dig! Start a new tunnel network or expand an existing one. 6 Cabals, Do 2 Drone/probes/digging into GJ to see what happens under ground as we push in.

# Use any base to produce army assets (1/3rd dot) 2 Cabal.

Might as well grow that abit.
>>
>>1163811
We're fairly well set for ships right now, the seluneites can build their station.

Jeb and Zak can go on the Reach, Kat might still be needed to lead the desolators but she can probably be spared as well. They all deserve it for their service and they'd be a boon to the colonists.
>>
>>1163831
Can we delay the server ship? I have an idea;

Damien wants to stay, right? But our server ship is equipped to carry heavy mechs, to maintain our code, right?

Well surely, thanks to our light-speed communication net, he could act as a drone general from our ship with minimal delay?

If so, I would suggest having the server ship wait at the systems edge, far enough to stop god hitting it but close enough to allow for decent response times / low ping.

I don't want to leave any hero behind we can, except Ithuriel. Not only is he useless for a colony, he is also adamant to stay and I don't want anything born of god taken with us we can avoid.

Call me sentimental, but I won't leave them to die on this wretched earth...still, we might win!
>>
>>1163835
>>1163831
Server ship and Reach are launching next year. We're uploading a copy of us to go with the ship so even if we 'fail' The Colony can come back/survive stronger then ever. Also we have no clue the max 'range' of gods attacks when it comes to space.
>>
>>1163836
True but still, we can guess at gods range based off of the only one of his abilities we know of that acts "everywhere".

The automatic death at 100, which becomes later as the person moves away from earth / god / his followers / his centre of power.

And anyhow, based off of what we have seen, god lacks anything that wouldn't be conceivable by a bronze age man. Fire, lightning, immortality, etc. None of what he has used will work in space, or at the very least will not work effectively.
>>
>>1163840
Lighting works rather easily in space, and as long as there is 'air' onboard our ships, Fires can be started which will fuck with us badly because it eats through Air.

Personally I suggest we send non-combative Villians like Jeb/Andrews/Cycrlon and 1 combat who is Zak on the Ark. Our most trusted. kat, and the rest will remain for the final battle and once we 'win' We'll get to call them and say we did then set up an inter-stellar trade route. Sense we all live past 100 now, + longer with our MEC's it should't be an issue.
>>
>>1163842
Fine, but if we lose let it be known I wanted to save every hero we could for the colony. No real loss I suppose, a great drone controller is kinda useless in the new world where we will probably lack large numbers of them...
>>
>>1163847
that's fine. I'm all for accepting total blame over it and Won't join the next one if I'm the reason we lose.
>>
>>1163848
No; you will take responsibility for your folly if it comes to that and will lead responsibly rather than hiding in the shadows, okay?

Any how if we lose it is on all our heads, seeing as we have had many chances to win. I would argue we should try to eliminate the last of God's heroes.

I still support the plan to make Egypt better than Jerusalem because even if we fail, it is a giant fuck you to god.
>>
>>1163853
So you're good with backing my plan here >>1163828

getting that moon thing up for them, Making sure we can Dig into GJ no issue with probes and also getting to that sweet 10/10 propensity before the world ends?
>>
>>1163855
I would prefer to let the moon sort itself out, rather than assigning assets from elsewhere but only if OP can give us the timescale for it's completion by the moon without our intervention?
>>
>>1163858
well we would WANT the moon to be in our debt and have them get as good/many people as possible. Because once we win, If this goes onto post-Defeat god. We're gonna need to secure each world to follow our rules/laws/ect
>>
>>1163862
They are literally in our debt already. Considering we got them there, sent the colony modules and so much more shit.

Also, planning for Post-god is a bad idea until we have beaten him into the ground.

As to them following our laws, they do. Considering we "own" the worlds by having the only major organised off world transports, colonisers and also have colonial officers maintaining order under our command.
>>
>>1163867
Well if you have a better thing to spend those moon cabal's on, I'm all ears.
>>
>>1163870
We could start construction of the forge ship, improve the prosperity of more areas, construct additional armies, make more tunnels, try to capture a god hero or anything else.

Personally, start on the forge ship or more armies, since they will either help with fighting directly or with infrastructure in space.
>>
>>1163872
We don't own any more areas, and its too late to to start swaying any. Also, I have the one thing for another 1/3 dot of an army, but It'd be better if our moon population grew then building a forge ship.
>>
>>1163876

>>1163916

Nova Roma already is a military base.

>>1163867

Right now, you have the only launch site on Earth; TOL's launch site in Baikonur was destroyed by believers as they retreated.

>>1163858

Three years if you let them do it themselves; one year if you assist by sending a stack of aerospace parts. The Martians and Selenites are optimistic enough about victory that they are looking at expanding their operations. You can, of course, veto this.

>>1164186

Thanks to a dubious, but roughly factual, memoir released a while ago by Children of the Tribulation regarding the exploits of Cameron Williams and Captain Rayford Steele, you can confirm that this is in fact the case.

>>1163828

Sunday seems intent to make his final push, and you need to know if it's time to push back. To this end, you put a large amount of effort into tapping into The Other Light's communication systems, such as they are, and risk sending out infiltrators in the territories that they have just conquered.

The first thing they discover is that Sunday seems intent in reestablishing Russian and Ethiopian national identity, much like you did with Pacifica and Misrayim: Zak surmises that at the end of the year, Sunday will announce the reunification of the Russian territory. Your political analysts note that as a cheap way to boost the territory's industrial and military output, this makes a lot of sense, and would've been a good idea just ten years ago; your theologians note however that this fits perfectly into the Gog and Magog part of the prophecy, therefore you have Zak and Damien

# just keep an eye on the situation

# disrupt this by counterpropaganda

# disrupt this physically, by damaging communications between the two halves of Russia.

Your space infrastructure remains busy; Jeb, understanding the propaganda value of this, coordinates the effort to help the Selenites build a small station in lunar orbit that is capable of spinning on its axis to simulate gravity. This is a useful experiment to make: Earth's situation is unique, what with the canopy and all, and this station will be a prototype for future endeavors in this or other solar systems. The station is intended to become a creche, to make sure that Selenite children grow correctly during their first few years in the world without being crippled by Luna's low gravity. Jeb's experience in docking once again proves useful when it's time to calibrate the unique counterrotating docking adapter that the station will need.

The heavy put in charge of the new station, Lotus, says that she looks forward to playing space mom, and is promptly pelted with plushies by the construction crew.

After a year of unobtrusive observation and dodging relatively hapless TOL counterespionage (they are mostly looking for believers, not for your guys) you obtain a reasonably clear picture of what Sunday's plan seems to be.

(1/2)
>>
>>1164631
# disrupt this by counterpropaganda. how this is playing into the cards and everything of that nature.
>>
>>1164631

(Look sir, good rolls!)

You learn of Sunday's plan; the man is fairly rigid in his thinking, but he will adapt it if he sees a pressing need to.

This year +992, he will consolidate his rule of the Russian and African territories.

Next year, +993, he will begin to prove his leadership to the people there by using what The Other Light has accumulated in a thousand years to lavish gifts to the people of these territories, including handsome tribute to the Temple to appease them if only just for a little longer. He will also make an effort to stop the cowards who would run from the Last Battle by attacking either the canopy itself or your canopy station.

In +994, he will begin mobilizing the Last Army in earnest; right now the great cargo ships are bringing men and materiel to the other territories.

In +995 and +996, he move the bulk of his forces to the Rub-Al-Khali, while showing off his enlightened leadership.

In +997, the millenary of the Rapture, he will attack the Temple, three years early, taking all by surprise, confident in knowing that Lucifer will be somewhere among the vast army that will have arrived.

Your tunneling squads set up some completely automatic small boring machines, and begin digging into the bedrock: the work is slow, the layer of bedrock covers the entirety of Greater Jerusalem and is mostly granite with iron banding, enough to confuse compasses. Not that it's an issue; your digging systems have laser alignment, compasses went out of style decades ago for this sort of work. Urists' people give all the assistance they can, and estimate that they will reach the Temple by +999 if you use one tunneling team, +997 if you use both, or +996 if you were to build a third one. A problem is that the bedrock is tough enough that only the tunnel borer that carries Azrael's scythe as its primary blade can work without interruption; the other main tunnel borer must stop to cool down. Phanuel's great sword was sundered during the fight, and Arariel's spear isn't particularly useful when it comes to slicing into things. Even Ithuriel prefer dwarven swords to it.

# Turn Arariel's spear into a jackhammer anyway.

# Keep it in reserve.

>>1164666

You resurrect the Theological Training Institute in Amman, and as part of the cultural revolution program that Sunday wants to implement, they have no difficulties opening Russian chapters in each side of the former country. They immediately start to bicker with one another over abstruse doctrinal points, making a lot of noise and managing to agree only on the point that unifying Russia would fit just right with the Gog and Magog prophecy.

Looks like Sunday won't be able to formally join the territories, at least this year...

(Sorry, there's a 3000 character limit so I have to split posts)

Misrayim's economy is doing about as well as it can: the aerospace industry is booming, the territory exports electronics and robotics everywhere in the world, and much like the first time the Nineties came around, the market gives signs of irrational exuberance. Your internal affairs teams focus on home automation: by the end of the year every Misray home that wants it has a voice-activated personal assistant to handle ordering groceries and the like. Since you are the backend of that system, this greatly streamlines your economic analysis of the territory - you now have a microphone in every home, and people voluntarily report to you their intended purchases. Other than the Bedouin revivalists in the Sahel, who choose to live simply, Misrays enjoy a near-uniform high standard of living: the semi-free market system that you have built allows for competition (and the occasional display of conspicuous consumption by those who do well) while ensuring that nobody suffers privations.

Under your and Mr. Bissattini's guidance, Pacifica's interior reinvents itself as the world's veggie garden: some farms are bought by unbelievers who turn them into aquaponics setups, and large plants to produce vat-grown meat are established. The believers don't like the competition, but find that intensive beats extensive every time -- in fact, Pacificans make a mint exporting synthmeat and spices to the new TOL territories. You take advantage of this by

# pointing out that TOL needs you more than you need it.

# showing how trade make for better living than everyone just tending their own farm as per Divine plan.

# quietly subsidizing the spread of Pacifican synthmeat, spices and flavorings in believing territories; today's forbidden fruit tastes like chicken.

>>1164725

As always, you can opt for flexibility over efficiency, if you so choose.

>>1164729

(It's not quite as big, although that's the eventual plan for an asteroid settlement - this will be useful for preliminary testing of the concept. So far what you have has more in common with the "spinning baton" concet of Dr. Zubrin's Mars Direct strategy, although of course, your nuclear engines have made that obsolete for the purpose of going to Mars since people don't spend more than a couple weeks in microgravity).

Sunday came in with both a takeover/transition team and a portion of the Last Army; he also leveraged the fact that you've shown that believers can and will be killed by direct military action just fine, even though HIS army doesn't work that way.

The controlled opposition posts happen, and Sunday at first makes the mistake of reacting to this rumor, giving it credence.

Several people in several territories all but beg the Temple for a ruling on synthetic meat: your quiet subsidizing of its contraband has made it a political issue in believing territories, in that for the first time in Millennial history, there is genuine political disagreement between territorial governments, with some lands (Heartland and South America come to mind) proclaiming that it's a good idea and believers should show unbelievers how to do it properly lest it be a literal draw to the temptations of the flesh, and other lands (such as Southeast Asia) indicating that its' a perversion of the Millennial Dispensation. The Temple is expected to rule on this at the end of the year, unusually quickly.

Your pro-capitalist propaganda resonates particularly well in the territory adjacent to Pacifica, to the point that Austin, Texas develops into somewhat of a pagan enclave. You keep an eye on the situation, since nobody in your employ was expecting it, and have a small team of historians dig up as much as they can on the Berlin Airlift if it becomes necessary in the near future.

Sunday completes his takeover of Russia and Ethiopia this year; he even invites some of the believers back to the hinterlands of the respective territorial capitols, and gives them free reign to proselytise as long as they only do so on their own land. He also gives them gold and precious stones with which to craft their annual tributes to the Temple, asking only that they bear a tag indicating that members of The Other Light extracted the resources and wish to present them to the Temple as proof of their supposed industrial might. Much to the surprise of your field recon teams, he does not try to rebuild the Baikonur launch ramp.

This year's Temple announcement is anticipated by many.

The condemnation of Sunday's takeover is solemn but ultimately perfunctory, saying that these are once again the end times and that believers can look forward to moving to their mansions in Heaven soon anyway. The prophet Nahum praises Tsion's efforts in relocating the refugees, and even mentions your people's assistance, albeit in passing, again thanking Tsion for convincing the people of Osaze to spare what they could.

Of course, that's not what even most believers around the world care about: they want to know about the synthetic meat! The Temple's pronouncement is short: "And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat." Since synthetic meat has been ultimately derived from plant cells, soybeans and peas to be specific, this is seen as authorization for believers to eat it. All believers rejoice in the decision, of course, but so do the people in some parts of your territories - that should be an excellent commercial opportunity.

Literally seconds after the Temple pronouncement is done, your phone exchanges are inundated by enterprising farmers from believing territories asking, or even demanding, instructions on how to grow meat. This is interesting: while you have encouraged and in a few cases even mandated intellectual property sharing on strategically important things such as wubber designs, there has been no such mandate on food production. Looks like the people who stand to make the most money from this are those who hold patent rights on growing synthetic meat cells and printing them in such a way that it actually resembles steak or chicken... now, at the end of the Millennium, the two economies suddenly have a reason to interact again. Therefore, you direct your governments to

# be strict in their interpretation of patent law: if believers want to produce synthetic meat, they will have to sign contracts declaring that they will abide by Misray or Pacifican law in case of disputes. This will force believers to deal with an economy that is mediated by you rather than by King Jesus.

# letting Misrayim and Pacifican companies make their own arrangement.

# open source it.
>>

# follow patent law

They're still going to have to deal with us on our terms anyway, but they're going to resent it if we look like we're openly forcing them to work by our rules.

You set up a call center that refers callers from outside your territories to the relevant patent law within your territories; the believers quickly find that if they are demanding, they are put on hold, and if they are polite, they are directed to a service that matches people with various requests with the appropriate patent lawyer. Almost overnight, you've rebuilt a branch of the legal profession in believing territories.

Believers traveling to Nova Roma and Austin to make inquiries are treated very politely but told to obey the law and make individual contracts, boilerplate versions of which soon emerge, with patentholders.

It becomes pretty evident that this is going to benefit Pacifica more than Misrayim, especially since as it stands, the believers don't have much to trade that you need.

Your economists are directed to tell territorial governments to

# accept Temple-backed coins. Money still talks pretty loudly, so this will make life easier if you want to influence matters outside your lands... although not as much as one might think.

# demand that believers find something to trade by having them sell goods for electronic currency. This will throw believing territories into a good bit of confusion as they look for something to trade, but may invite retribution.

Russia and Ethiopia immediately ask for a trade treaty with Misrayim on very favorable terms, essentially offering to adopt your electronic currency. Of course, all of this only matters up to a point, given the date. If you accept, you can work out the details next year.

Either way, it looks like Pacifica is going to be raking in cash and resources next year; Ryan Andrews comments in an interview that maybe it would be more profitable for him to remain on Earth, but he feels that while capitalism has been an interesting adventure, it's time for him to be an explorer.

Naturally, the sudden demand for hamburger meat reignites the pizza wars, to the point that Romans feel obligated to rent a supersonic jet to send Mr. Bissattini some proper pizza margherita to counteract abominations such as have started to appear. Bissattini is of Italian origins, and proposes that Nova Roma, heir to the Italian culinary tradition, set up a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Pizza_Championship to settle the matter "before you feel forced to deploy the Legion here again", he concludes in good humor.

>>1165040

Arrangements are made: the Angel will have a family and, presumably, a new name.

And as things bustle on Earth, the mighty Reach prepares for its historic journey...

Rules for allocating cabals and assets: http://emlia.org/pmwiki/pub/web/LeftBeyond.QuestRules.html

You have 25 cabals total; of these, 3 are maintaining your systems, 1 is space police, and 1 is army liaison, so 20 are available. Your civilian research grant is focused on curing radiation sickness. Your military grant is focused on containment systems.

You are tracking enemy teams. TOL now has to govern Gog and Magog.

Your offworld colonies are doing well.

You MUST decide who stays and who leaves on the Reach, and how to handle the server ship. The Reach leaves at the end of the year.

Variable complexity:

# Media blitz to leverage any recent success.

# Any interesting idea you might want to try.

# Deal with special situations.

# Assign manpower to research.

Complexity 0

# Use a MISC special.

# Use your automated base in Greenland to produce army assets (1/3rd dot) or aerospace equipment.

C 1

# Continue tracking.

# SPECIAL Send a drone to the Temple by having TOL or believers build it.

C 2

# Use any base to produce army assets (1/3rd dot)

# Use any of your bases to improve (relative to rest of the world) prosperity in a territory. NOTE: Diminishing returns apply.

# Use a base in a territory you don't control to start bringing that territory under your control. Progress will be made in 1/5 increments.

# Seed irradiated super-grain in a Christian territory.

# Seed irradiated super-weed in a Christian territory.

# Build aerospace parts.

# Use an aerospace part to deploy Sky Eyes in three territories.

# Do a space launch using parts you have built.

* Asteroid mining outposts

* Titan colony

* Large ship construction

C 3

# Recruit people into your infantry.

C 5

# Begin a new base.

# Recruit.

C 6

# Heavy weapons factory: add 1 dot to army size (navy or heavy).
>>
>>1165065

Looks like at least some Christians will get aeroponics and 3d printers in their farms. What you will get, albeit indirectly, is a significant amount of Temple coinage, making it easier for your agents to do "soft" work in believing territories.

So far, Sunday has stuck to his five-year plan; your people fully expect space shenanigans... however, TOL does not even have a launch ramp!
>>
>>1165083

The Server ship will fall a few hours ahead of the Reach to ensure the 2 things always remain in touch. So encase something happens, they can interact with each other.

# Deal with special situations., Make the Trade agreement with the 2 nations who wanted it.

# Use a MISC special. Colonies make forge ship parts as well.

# Use your automated base in Greenland to produce army assets (1/3rd dot) or aerospace equipment. Forge Ship part

# Do a space launch using parts you have built. Launch the part up for the forge ship so they can build it. 2 Cabal

# Resume tracking. 6 Cabals, And Damien, TOL Army units in the 2 places they are siezeing and Our own Capital/Egypt.

# Dig! Start a new tunnel network or expand an existing one. Both digging teams, 6 Cabals, Do 2 Drone/probes/digging into GJ to see what happens under ground as we push in.

# Use any of your bases to improve (relative to rest of the world) prosperity in that territory. You must control the territory. 4 Cabal Egypt and West America, Ithuriel and Kat

# Use any base to produce army assets (1/3rd dot) 2 Cabal.

Jeb, Andrews, Cyrclon and Zak will be the ones who are embarking on the ark at the end of the year.

Do we have any reports on them getting an Angelic weapon yet?
>>

(First time weighing in on cabals)
Is it C3 to construct another tunnel borer to aid the Temple tunnel, as suggested above? Or does green anon's plan do that?

># SPECIAL Send a drone to the Temple by having TOL or believers build it. 1 cabal.
Perferably by TOL. Keep them looking up and at TOL, not down and at us.

Expand the tunnel network to the middle east, focus on digging under where we think Satan will stand under.

By the way, what will be the name for the server ship?
>>
>>1165116

You don't know whether TOL has an Angelci weapon or not, although they have stopped pestering you for one a few years back. It's extremely unlikely that they were able to defeat an Angel, especially without you knowing.

You do know however that they have been buying weapons and armor from the Dwarfs. While their swords and axes can sunder an Angelic weapon with relative ease, they don't have any of the other interesting properties that the artifacts have displayed - they're just very well made swords and axes.

Kat has expressed a desire to leave with the Reach, as well.

You are already tracking enemy teams: if you don't want to do infiltration missions, 1 cabal is sufficient to maintain that tracking.
>>
>>1165083
>move the tunnel breach teams away from the tunnel network to prepare for attack.

>Five Cabals, prepare to counter the TOL attacks detailed in sundays plan.

Maria was a Natural that you snatched as part of an experiment: Tree Of Life techniques have been used to rejuvenate her, after which she was used for an extended sleep test. She's been dreaming for a long time now. The overhead has been minimal, but all the medical data that could be gained, has been.

# Release, but ask what she dreamed about.

# Keep under, just to see what happens.

>>1165333

>>1165293

Kat is mildly annoyed that you wouldn't let her take on Phanuel other than in a support role; if the fight is going to be primarily against supernatural entities, she feels that Desolators under 100 will be more useful. If the fight is going to be mostly against TOL, she will stay, of course.

Maria wakes up to find herself fairly weak (there's a limit to what electrostimulation can do) but soon finds her bearings: she still looks old, although not decrepit, but that's literally skin deep. This bodes very well for your interstellar colonists, obviously.

After seeing herself in the mirror after a shower, she thanks God profusely for the new spring in her step, and quickly realizes that she's in a research center rather than her bakery.

Asked what she dreamed about, she tells you a very strange story: in her dream, the world had gone more than a bit funny, with things like fauns and centaurs and the like roaming it. Your nurses decide to not tell her about Tethys for now.

The dream seems to be some strange mix of the Chronicles of Narnia and, interestingly, the counterfactual snippets from Jenny's narration of her childhood. In it, Jesus is in His temple, but the temple itself is much smaller and has been built by man in its entirety. "There was this really nice spider lady with big, you know" Maria holds her arms about a foot in front of her chest "drank me under the table, we were working at the power plant, you know. And some squirrel kid with a videogame..."

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, overall. Cameron Kirk Williams was in it, riding a truck with legs, if that's even a thing. You confirm that the stolen spider tank has been in Dallas the whole time and nobody's tried to move it or fix it, for what it's worth.

http://emlia.org/pmwiki/pub/web/Tripocalypse.Tripocalypse.html

Maria wants to return to her village,

# which is too risky. She's offered a chance to reopen her bakery in Misrayim instead, and proselytise if she wants, but under some surveillance.

# which isn't a big deal.

# which is definirey too risky: put her under again.
>>
>>1165420
# which is too risky. She's offered a chance to reopen her bakery in Misrayim instead, and proselytise if she wants, but under some surveillance.
>>
>>1165420
How isolated is the village?

Because the last thing we want GJ to be thinking is all the possible uses for long comas and experimental rejuvenation.
>>
>>1165441

It's pretty far out where the Andes used to be, in South America. The mountains aren't there any more of course, none are, but it is fairly isolated and you selected it at the time specifically because neither you nor The Other Light had done much in the ways of shenanigans in that region. Currently, the territory has Sky Eye coverage.
>>
>>1165456
eh, She has to go back.

# which is too risky. She's offered a chance to reopen her bakery in Misrayim instead, and proselytise if she wants, but under some surveillance.

Food in Misrayem is better anyway.
>>
>>1165456
Mostly I'm worried she'll realize she's lost ten years somewhere and decides to follow up.

Can we get discrete surveillance in that village? Misrayim has too many other people and contact with the outside world-if we slip up once the secret's out.
>>
>>1165165

The general consensus is that Satan will appear in the midst of the Last Army, order a charge, and watch helplessly as the Last Army is burned to ashes immediately after. Therefore, he should appear just outside the Temple.

>>1165138

A tunnel boring team requires heavy industry to build, so one of your two heavy factories, and six cabals; they will also need some training, although your agreement with the Dwarfs means that they can get that on the job.

Jeb, Cordylon, and Zak prepare their bags, such as they are, and embark on the Reach.

Andrews announces his "plus one": it's Tethys. He travels to the Atlantic underwater settlement, gets on his knees in the traditional manner, and asks the mermaid queen for her hand in marriage. Her acceptance sanctions the end of the hostilities between the two settlements.

# Veto this. WTF?!?

# Well... that's one way to end this story. Tethys will have to get her legs grafted back on, obviously...

Andrews says that Tethys was the only woman who managed to both be attractive to him and keep up with him. He's personally a fan of traditional gender roles, and while he's met many brilliant businesswomen or academicians, he never really clicked with anyone else. "Besides? She is very skilled at being regal while understanding that this doesn't translate into having a say in policy. You can run an economy better than any human, but we will need a choice of figureheads when we arrive. I wouldn't be any good at being one of them. Tethys is."

You will be traveling to an oceanic planet, so some of the colonists having minor aquatic augments makes a lot of sense, actually. It looks like gills and third eyelids will be a thing, whether tails may or may not be: this is all grafted, rather than genetic, so the risk of merpeople speciating is actually a lot lower than that of Dwarfs doing so. Tethys is willing to put on legs again, if necessary.

An enterprising animation studio immediately makes a cartoon out of this, although your sysadmins aren't happy about Omega being relegated to the role of Ryan's android advisor, your sociologists very much are - better that people not think too much about how much of the economy you actually control.

The Temple's stance is that all men are sons of Adam, but as it is, Urist's people have responded (by engraved stone plates delivered by a handsome automaton in the shape of a buggy pulled by a horse and an ox) that they are children of Aule, not Iluvatar. If there has been any further dialogue, you are not aware of it.

>>1165655

The Temple has formally forbidden speculation on what happens if The Other Light wins (they still refuse to consider you and Sunday separate factions), to the extent that people calling in to radio and TV shows have been hung up on, and a few kids photocopying pamphlets in believing territories sent to COT for reformation.

Your interplanetary ferry can take one cryopod to Pluto in approximately a month and a half. The minor planet has been mapped cursorily, and found to have some interesting minerals, but it's quite far out and it's too far from the Sun to allow use of solar panels.

>>1165685

That is, in fact, a trope. Your current strategy is to take the Big Good and can Him, but only as a temporary measure while you work out a way to eliminate Him at the source. Many suggest taking the part of the prophecy that says that the New Heaven and New Earth will not need the sun because Jesus will be one with the sun, to the absolute letter. Assuming that a containment system is the size of a standard multiperson hab, a double-elliptic transfer trajectory to the Sun would require about four years, or you could sacrifice an interplanetary engine and cut that down to a couple of months.

Not going to stop speciation-on an interstellar scale anyway. Or even intrastellar scale if interplanetary travel stays nontrivial. Even slight differences between clones will be amplified over time without a deliberately correcting/averaging factor.

It's like any other chaotic system. Given little or no interaction and some time, and two even slightly different starting points will result in massively different end results.

Also, are you sure you'd want to live in a world where other people are indistinguishable from you? Because I wouldn't.

Could we station an additional cabal on the canopy station for security? Can LF handle that?

Also, I havethree weapons proposals: canopy mines, infantry level spring-powered grenade launchers, and infantry HEAT grenades.
Canopy Mine:
Take a SkyEye, stuff it with explosives. Steer it towards any rockets making for the canopy, detonate on arrival.

Grenade launchers would let our infantry project both explosive and less-lethal ordinance(sleeping gas, say) at a further distance and more accurately than throwing, and over cover. Spring or air-pressure launchers would let us use our existing infantry grenades with minimal modification-it might even be possible to design and field grenades that can be thrown or launched with no modification.

HEAT grenades were something I wanted to mention last thread, but completely forgot about. We need infantry-level anti armor ordinance, and a HEAT grenade seems easier to design and field in the time we have than an RPG or recoilless rifle-and we can still lob them at range with a grenade launcher.

You are fully aware that The Other Light will try something stupid when it comes to the Reach, and have your agents set up a sting operation: TOL operatives will be allowed to set off a bomb in the Timbuktu launch complex as the last group of people due to embark on the interstellar ships board it. Since they will be boarding from the canopy station, all this will do is force you to spend a bit of time cleaning up the damage.

As you begin work on the forge ship, agents of The Other Light are allowed to infiltrate a workshop that built Reach keel sections and work there for a while - the keel designs aren't much of a secret anyway. They manage to do a decent job overall building foundry ship structural parts (looks like Sunday did clean TOL's act somewhat: these people aren't any more on stimulants than the average Timbuktu space engineer, and even then, it's good stuff, not bathtub meth) and are apparently given more responsibility and access to more of the complex. After planting the bomb, they are quickly subdued by your drones and locked up in the complex's security office, where they watch the thing go off making a lot of smoke and very little fire. However, you order all launch ops suspended for the week pending a safety review, and let it be known that the small explosion was accidental. Sunday, naturally, thinks that his agents have succeeded, even more so when he is anonymously shipped their hands.

Digging under the massive bedrock slab that lies under Greater Jerusalem is hard work, but turns out to be doable; you are on track to finish on schedule in +997 if you keep both teams at it. Your tunnel network is lightly armed with small sentry guns hidden in alcoves, but well equipped with sensors; the tunnels themselves are wide enough to let your infantry and small drones bypass any sort of TOL-induced traffic jam.

Your economics team don't get a lot done in Misrayim, being as the territory is already richer than all pre-Rapture first world countries, but capitalize on the synthmeat ruling from the Temple and assist Pacifican startups and patent lawyers with sorting out deals with the believing world; Ithuriel's innate and occasionally obtuse honesty is an assets when it comes to these deals, since he can help your economists not overcomplicate things for the believers. The deals you facilitate will privilege

# trade.

# local production of synthmeat in believing territories, generally by joint ventures.

Your factories keep working at capacity, and production of the foge ship is well underway.

TOL's attack on your launch ramp isn't even mentioned in the broad trade agreements that you make with Gog and Magog, although Sunday insists that this wording not be used; should you succeed in stopping the Judgement, you may end up bankrupting TOL right before the inevitable war with them. As it is, they seem to be spendthrifts, giving away centuries of accumulation in years.

(1/3)
>>
>>1166097

You keep a close eye on Millennium Force activities in the TOL-occupied lands: they seem to be taking great delights in acts of vandalism, taking out a transmitter or causing it to broadcast Christian music, blowing up ammo dumps (which, you notice, always seems to happen without any casualties) and the like.

By the look of it, the plan on TOL's side is simply to pile up all their army assets around the Temple, fire all their rocket artillery systems, and then charge under a rolling artillery barrage. As plans go, it's basic, but Sunday purged most of the military experts working under Monday, so he may simply not have the command capability to do better.

For now, the troops are quartered near the frontiers with the Rub-al-Khali, which in Ethiopia's case, means that they will have to cross the Red Sea. Since you have mined that part of the Rub-al-Khali, you should have a relatively easy time impeding them, if you choose.

Even while whoever TOL's spymaster now is celebrates the success of having disabled the ramp, your interstellar ship gets ready to go. Without any announcement, she has traveled to Saturn where she will use her resource module to mine the rings so as to leave with a completely full tank of reaction mass, and a healthy gravity assist from the gas giant.

# Send the server ship along immediately.

>>The canopy mine is redundant when we can just put AA guns on the sky eye ship.

Additional coverage and layers of defense. SkyEyes are relatively cheap compared to the ship, so we can pump out more of them and contest areas of the canopy we can't cover with triple A.
It also gives our hypothetical attacker more difficulties with attacking the ship or the canopy station.

>>We have grenade launchers already so i don't wee why we have to develop spring powered version.
Sorry, didn't see that.

Mainly spring power was to help with logistics if we were developing grenade launchers from scratch-they'd use existing grenades-but if we already have them then no need.

We should make grenade launchers and HEAT grenades part of the standard load out for the STDs. As the spider tank episode illustrated, right now they lack a decent anti-armor weapon.

(Kat volunteered to be paired with the server ship, by the way)

This won't be as much of a coup as selling opium to The Other Light, obviously, but the trade agreements you set up make it so production of key ingredients remain in Pacifican hands; an advantage of this is that you will not have situations where small groups of nonbelievers with advanced biotech knowledge are surrounded by believers.

On that note, Tsion has moved to Heartland, and has taken residence in the Austin enclave, possibly to get converts or possibly to get information. Ely LeVey is surprisingly waxing lyrical about the new trade deals, and has released a pre-Rapture all-American recipe book with some adaptations to make for the new flavors and the synthmeat.

(so: ASAP, send server ship, a few TOL people)

You're ready for launch, and figure that the best time to do it is when TOL still thinks that your space infrastructure is crippled. You have kept some agents of The Other Lights on board: upon making it through the final selection and being taken onboard the starship, they are told that their infiltration attempt had been detected early during training but that they were allowed to continue depending on their skill, determination, and biocompatibility. Given the choice to stay on as passengers and being sent home in disgrace, they've decided to stay; it's only a handful of people, and passengers don't have access to sensitive ship systems anyway, so it's extremely unlikely that they will cause trouble.

By the look of it, all of humanity will be represented on the Reach, with the intentional exception of believers. At some point earlier this year, Urist's people have sent a few representatives, who are biocompatible with other humans and who passed screening with flying colors other than minimum height; they brought their own spacesuits, so that's not an issue.

The server ship containing a copy of you and carrying a precious extra set of interstellar engines will fly along at a short distance; parallax ranging between the two ships will allow for better astrogation and will permit Dr. Zakharov to perform some physics experiments that benefit from having two objects accelerating with regards to the interstellar medium but not each other.

# Include Kat.

# Kat is needed to fight.

This year, the believing world has rediscovered the cheeseburger, and there was much rejoicing; you end up with piles of Temple money that you don't really know what to do with. Russia and Ethiopia are doing surprisingly well under Sunday's rule, although your agents indicate that it's because he is being profligate with TOL resources that have been hoarded over a millennium.

# End year and push the big blue button!

# Wait.

Unless the server ship copy's only activated on arrival, in which case the only differences will be due to bit flips and equipment failure. Although compensating for that would probably require the copy to stay active.

# Kat is needed to fight.

# End year and push the big blue button!

>Probably going to start diverging as communication turnaround time surpasses a minute.
Nah, we have the quantum FTL so we should be in contact until we lose or something breaks.
>>
>>1166298
Doesn't that consume the entangled particles used?

I swear this was the reason why we could only instantly back ourselves up once.
>>
>>1166314
>Doesn't that consume the entangled particles used?
If Geist is using my specific design no, they particles are constantly traveling in a loop so they should be indefinite as long as the loops don't malfunction.
>>
>>1166280
>>1166298
>>1166314

It's missing the proprioceptive loop memory state, which will be sent along via entanglement (either in case of failure or in case of victory). After which the copies will diverge. The entanglement device is a one-shot; its main function is to allow the Reach's passengers to know if there has been a Judgement Day or not immediately.

>>1166290
>>1166274

Kat squares her synthmuscle shoulders and nods grimly.

"Okay.

The price is high, but not nearly so high as if we fail because we would not pay it.

I have no parents, and can never have children. So I volunteer. I will continue to be whatever I must be for us to win this war, so that others do not have to.

That others may raise children, I will gladly instead become a mother of death.

But one more word from you about who I can or cannot engage, Omega, and you will see that you are just as susceptible to my gentle touch as Yahweh will prove to be."

The general reaction from your sysadmins is something to the tone of "Please, can I go away from the scary lady now".

"I know it better than you think. And yet, I am human. And, making an exception for Ithuriel, they ain't." Kat seems to be aware of this, and has made arrangements with a Lifetree clinic - out of her own pocket, you note.
And then, amidst all sort of routine communications, Jeb receives the order and puts Cordylon, quite literally, in the pilot's seat.

The temporary dock set up in the rings of Saturn to harvest them for ice retracts its capsules and hoses, and the Reach pushes her rear section off it.

The mighty fission fragment engines ignite once again, but this time, they will stay on for years on end. The acceleration is enough to make every passenger who was drifting after a quarter day's shift mining for ice, fall back on the floor as they adjust to something like normal gravity again.

And just like that, the Reach is gone. The small dock is taken over and pretty much gobbled up by your server ship, whose mining systems are a lot slower.

Twin columns of plasma fire off, bright enough that those on Mars can see them, but hidden from most of humanity by the very hand of God.

And so goes the giant ship that is carrying a thousand people, the best of humanity, to their destiny.

Cordylon completes the roll axis maneuver.

"Funny, if you look at the three stars in the infrared.... here."

"Looks good to me, good job. What's funny?"

"Well, given our first planet of call - look where we're aimed. Second star to the right."

Jeb ruffles Cordylon's hair. "Straight on till morning then."

(y'all tell me if you want to announce this, spread rumors that the whole thing blew up, anything else! When it comes to space, nobody else can peek up and look, so you pretty much control the story, at least for the first few days/weeks)

You don't know how much Sunday might rage if he knew his sabotage not working, but then again, unless one stops and thinks, the two thousands total who left Earth are nothing compared to the teeming billions who remain on it.

Declaring that his rule has now been consolidated and that the vast majority of the people are behind him, the interim leader of The Other Light releases a sloppy but reasonably accurate census indicating that believers are now once more a minority on Earth. This has happened a few years ahead of schedule, because of your life extension efforts.

"And so, by the will of the people, I extend one last time the hand of friendship to the One who has been our Lord! Your time is up. Step off your throne peacefully, return to your heaven, and there will be no reason for war."

This is greeted by jeer and derision in the believing lands, of course.

“We don’t have one trained soldier,” retired Captain Rayford Steel is reported as having answered. “And we don’t need one. Not a hair on the head of a believer will be harmed by the biggest fighting force the world has ever seen.”

Nevertheless, Sunday announces that the long march towards the Holy Land begins. And so, scouts try to find ways into the Holy Land that won't be blocked by a maniple of invulnerable Glorified.

The Other Light calls it the Tenth Crusade, or the Black Crusade. The believers call it a bunch of deluded children playing army, as they start pouring into the Rub-Al-Khali and into the southeastern shore of the Black Sea.

Their printing presses and electronically transmitted messages blanket the globe, recruiting new members, deploying their weapons stockpile and mustering a fighting force a thousand times bigger than had been aggregated for the Battle of Armageddon a millennium before.

Sunday invites the legates of the Legion of Light to join him; since the Legionaries are better armored than most of his forces, they would be in the back, to be called upon in dire need. To you he unctuously assures that he has no desire to usurp your command, merely to make sure that if your two armies meet at the Temple, it will be on the same side.

Your tunnels should be ready in time to "clear the traffic jam".

# Accept. It will make infiltration easier.

Your response to Sunday is terse. "When the Legion takes the field, its enemies will only know after it's too late."

Kat briefly disappears from your sensors.

You do not announce the Reach (or the server ship) leaving Sol; the space bulletins simply mention that her telemetry is nominal. For that matter, neither does the Temple. However, this year's Feast of the Tabernacle is extremely somber.

A great gong is rung, and the Levite priests have been doing ritual penance. "We are closing to the end of days. We encourage all to beg for salvation, for they shall receive. Believers, remain stalwart, for soon you will be moving into your mansions in Heaven!"

Ely LeVey says in her commentary - not that there is much to comment about - that she is going to hand over the keys to her radio operation to Tsion Ben-Judah and retire; she feels that she has been unable to participate in her traditional role as helpmeet and homemaker, and wants to spend her final years on Earth doing so.

Kat briefly disappears from your sensor network. She has almost, but not quite, emptied her accounts in all available currencies and pseudocurrencies.

The overall feeling among your experts is ominous.

Your factories have been running a low-priority "stockpile neurotoxins" job for years now. It should be easy to retrofit your transport aircraft to flood the area around the Temple with deadly neurotoxin. Since the White Throne Judgement is tagged as fatal to all humans anyway, your morality calculations return no reasons to make you stop flooding the area around the Temple with deadly neurotoxin. (Less-than-deadly neurotoxin is also an option).
